another drawing im not sure if ill ever finish. you can kind of see my process here lol. anyways this is frida vs leo from our sisters story!!

frida is extra serious but also extremely hyperattentive to posturing/lying (since she grew up around big mama), so initially she doesn't get along with leo who tends to talk himself up in an attempt to make a good impression. when they spar they actually get along the best, because they're both great at combat and respect each other wholeheartedly for it.

I assume at this point we’ve all seen the Raph as Princess Peach thing going around- So I thought why not go all the way? Where are my Rosalinas? The Polinas? 

They would totally get into character only so that they can talk shit about Mario.

You physically cannot convince me Leo wouldn’t be Rosalina. 

I can see Donnie having respect for Polina, and Mikey vibing with Daisy- But I just LOVE the idea that Mikey would love Polina- She’s just girlbossing, she went from the damsel in distress to being New York’s fucking MAYOR. It just fits so well with my headcanons of Mikey-

On top of that, me and my girlfriend were talking, and I realized how much Raph actually needs this. He’s always the one saving people, always worrying for their safety- Just- Just this once. He gets to indulge in the idea of being saved.

And Mikey liking Polina has a simular vibe to it- Cause Mikey wants to not be babied right? So what’s character would command more respect then a MAYOR. Who holds a concert and is just rocking the professional vibe. I also headcanon Mikey as aro ace and genderfluid, so Polina switching from suits to dresses, as well as being a past love interest for Mario makes me think she went “Nah, not for me” WHICH AGAIN, FITS WITH MY MIKEY HEADCANONS-

I'm limiting this to fics/analysis/headcanon/etc posts I made during the year and skipping over anything that isn't my actual creative work. That said, if you're curious, my actual top post was this funky screenshot from episode 2.

10. Everyone's just fine with Donnie modding the moon buggy? (362 notes)

It occurred to me that despite being MASSIVE nerds for the Jupiter Jim franchise, the bros seemed awfully chill with Donnie taking an actual on-set moon buggy and modding the hell out of it.

A few people argued with me in the notes that the Turtle Tank is so cool no one could possibly be mad about it and I do think that's fair. The Turtle Tank is easily my favorite thing Donnie made in the show.

9. Splinter and Leo talk post movie (443 notes)

And then his dad walks in and says, “I would like to talk to Blue, please. Alone.” And suddenly Leo doesn’t feel so good anymore.

This is the most recent tumblr fic I've done (I think lol), so seeing it make it this high felt pretty good. I love Splinter and his boys... they make me emotional.

non-angsty ROTTMNT separated AU where the boys meet online and bond over their shared love of Jupiter Jim and skateboarding and Lou Jitsu. Then one day they agree to meet irl for the first time at a con and decide to dress as turtle aliens.

This post spawned an adorable fanart by @thatsmutbean , this hilarious fanart by @onionninjasstuff , and an entire fanfic called new phone who dis by @rbtlvr

This has been an incredible year! My love for ROTTMNT has not diminished in the slightest and I still have lots of ideas, so I hope you guys stick with me for 2024. Thanks again! Happy New Year!!

A/N, not important: Hate this with all my heart. I can't write. Going to scream. This was going to be so much longer, but if I have to spend any more time on it, I'm going to rip my hair out. Any criticism is welcome, constructive or not. This is supposed to be a gender neutral reader, so if I screwed up somewhere, please tell me.

Summary: ROTTMNT Leo decided to boldly flirt but the reader thinks he's making fun of them.

Leo keeps his gaze on the human in the doorway, a dreamy look in his eyes as he watches them laugh with Mikey in the kitchen. It was hard for Leo to stay silent, wanting nothing more than to go up to his crush friend and start talking to them. Being able to only watch the two talk, the two cook, hurt. Leo had talked to Mikey earlier to confirm they didn’t each have a crush on the same person, Leo almost giddy with joy when Mikey denied feeling any romantic attraction towards (Y/n). Leo was confident Mikey remembered the plan, Mikey having felt bad for Leo’s inability to converse with his crush. All Leo needed to do was wait for the signal, and he could go talk to (Y/n). Alone. Leo gulped, taking in a deep breath trying to calm his nerves. He’d have to wait for them to put whatever they were making into the oven first anyway, he had time. He just had to memorize what to say.

Leo looks back to his phone, a light dust of red across his snout and spreading to his cheek bone refuses to fade, the anticipation making his heart beat furiously. The wikiHow article wasn’t the most helpful, but it was better than Donnie’s advice.(He appreciated it, but Leo had the feeling that ignoring (Y/n) and not talking to them at all wouldn’t help.) The only thing that resonated with Leo was to flirt. Leo was confident he could do that, and most likely do it well. Leo was the face man after all, smooth talking was his thing!

Leo’s head perks up once more as he hears the shut of the oven, Mikey saying something to (Y/n) Leo couldn’t quite hear. Leo watches carefully as Mikey exits the kitchen with his hands behind his back, whistling the opening tune to the Jupiter Jim 8 episode mini series: The Galactic 7. Mikey winks at Leo before going down one of the many adjoined tunnels in the lair, leaving Leo’s sight. Leo beams, his hands tapping his thighs nervously. The whistling tune was the signal, he had around 30 minutes to go do what he wanted. A romantic confession between two people who were certainly destined to fall in love. At least, that’s what Leo hoped.

Swallowing his fear, Leo stands up and rubs his sweaty palms on his bike shorts, making his way to the kitchen. Knocking slightly on the wooden cabinet by the entrance to alert them to his presence, Leo shoots (Y/n) the smuggest grin he could muster. (Y/n) gives Leo a small wave return, acknowledging him before returning back to their phone. Leo’s confidence crumbles slightly at this, having wanted a more definite confirmation that he was welcome in their presence. Leo shrugs it off though, his wide grin still plastered on his face despite the vice around his chest.

Leo leans against the island counter, drumming his knuckles against the hard surface. (Y/n) glances at Leo, their eyes scanning his as they attempt to decipher what the turtle mutant was doing. Leo picks up one of his hands, halting the small rhythm being beaten into the faux wood surface and gives (Y/n) a small wave. Leo’s face softens as the human rolls their eyes, chuckling softly. The butterflies tormenting his stomach calm slightly, his chest filling with air once more.

“You feeling okay?” The sudden sound of their voice makes Leo jump slightly, the haze lifting off his brain. Leo lets out a small laugh, a brighter, softer smile replacing the previous smug one.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Do you have a Band-aid though?” Leo’s confidence quickly returns as he asks his question, his brain staticky as he tries to keep his hands from shaking. This was it. He was going to tell them. Sure, he was going to tell them through a dorky pick-up line, but tell them nonetheless.

(Y/n) shifts in their position, putting their phone on the island as they pat their pockets. They frown slightly, looking up at Leo with concern that made his heart melt. “Nope, sorry. Do you need me to run to the bathroom to get you one?”

Leo just about died at that, feeling touched they cared enough to offer to go get one for him. He felt slightly guilty now, knowing he wasn’t actually injured. “No, it’s fine. I just scraped my knees when I fell for you.” Leo accompanies the delivery of the line with a wink, a small blush adorning his face once more. It felt off to Leo, he knew he said it wrong. It didn’t flow out of his mouth the way he wanted it to, and he felt his chest tighten up again. Leo scans their face, his bright smile seeming more nervous as he awaits (Y/n)’s response.

And waited.

And waited.

Leo’s smile falls completely at (Y/n)’s reaction, or lack thereof, as he starts twiddling with his fingers laughing nervously. (Y/n)’s face is blank, their forefinger tapping the counter as they look at Leo with their eyebrows furrowed. Leo didn’t understand. He expected a reaction at the very least, not judging silence. Leo chewed on the inside of his cheek, laughing nervously as he opened his mouth to speak. “Hey, look I’m-”

“Don’t say something you don’t mean.”

Leo’s taken aback by their sudden words, their face not changing from the annoyed look. Leo sinks slightly at the interruption, not knowing how to respond. “Excuse me?”

(Y/n) sighs, their body shifting to lean on their right arm while their left hand pinches the bridge of their nose in frustration. They let out a tired sigh, and Leo’s heart sinks into his stomach. Leo didn’t understand what he did wrong. Were they mad at him? Why was their first thought that Leo was lying? Did they really dislike Leo this much?

“The pick-up line. Don’t say it if you don’t mean it.” They finally clarified, their arms now crossed. Leo pats his thighs awkwardly, feeling stupid and pathetic. How did he mess up so badly he made the one person he finally loved believe his feelings were a joke? Leo regretted trying, regretted not listening to Donnie. Maybe this all would’ve gone better if Leo just ignored his feelings until they disappeared.

Leo racks his brain, trying to find the best way to explain why he did what he did. In the end, only four simple words popped out. “I meant every word.”

(Y/n) gives Leo a look he can’t quite decipher, his mask mimicking furrowing eyebrows as he scans them. (Y/n) visibly chews on their cheek, huffing slightly. “Do you mean it?”

Leo nods, swallowing nervously as his fingers tap out a nonsensical rhythm into the counter. (Y/n)’s face finally has a smile, small chuckles falling from their lips. (Y/n) reaches their hand out, setting it on top of Leo’s own shaking appendage. Leo’s eyes softened, his face one of worry but it was starting to settle. Leo meets (Y/n)’s eyes, trying to figure out the meaning of anything (Y/n) was doing.

“I like you too, Leo.”

Leo freezes at this, his brain frying for a moment as he processes (Y/n)’s words. They like him back. They like him back. Leo’s face finally breaks from the stress filled gaze as a large smile kicks his frown out of place. Leo pats the counter, his brain buzzing with excitement. Leo rounds the island while (Y/n) watches with a smile, a loud laugh coming from their mouth when Leo pulls them into a tight hug. Leo feels their arms wrap around him, their hands resting in the middle of his carapace. Leo was shaking slightly, his brain running a mile a minute as he held (Y/n) close. (Y/n) pats Leo’s back, pushing him off slightly as they let out an awkward laugh. Leo lets go, an embarrassed blush tinting his green cheeks red. Leo pats his thighs twice, looking around the kitchen to avoid (Y/n)’s gaze. 

“So….” Leo starts, still avoiding (Y/n)’s eyes. Leo watches them lean their back against the wall, the dopey grin on (Y/n)’s face making Leo’s heart flutter. (Y/n) motions one of their hands in a circle, prompting Leo to continue. “Would you like to become my partner?”

(Y/n) snorts at this, laughing at his choice in wording. The human flashes Leo a wide smile, looking at Leo endearingly. “In crime, or romantic? Because both are a yes.”

Leo quickly pulls (Y/n) into another hug, rambling on and on about how happy he was, his voice loud as he cheers. (Y/n) just hugs Leo back and lets him ramble, happy to be in the moment.

it just felt so... empty?? i dont really know how to explain it but, the lack of brothers interacting and anything ninja related, kinda made me frown

why did it feel nothing like a tmnt show??? my brother said "it looks like it took some ideas from rottmnt and just... made it worse", and in a way i agree? its like, in a way, this show wants to please everyone but doesn't have the balls to go full original and new like rise did...

i was very optimistic about it before its release, the turtles in high-school is something i dreamed of when i was a child! AND THE SHOW JUST BLUE BALLED ME??? I GET JUST SOME MENTION ABT WHAT THEY ARE DOING IN SCHOOL BUT ITS NEVER SHOWN AND THAT MAKES ME GRRRR

IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO EASY FFS, doing something none of the show before had ever done but nooooo u get two mini arcs

and lets talk about these arcs:

bishop arc: i really liked the general plot of this one ok, but since the first ep i could see one of the main problems with tottmnt, EACH EP IS ABT A SINGLE TURTLE retelling their version of what happened in the same moment, that could be cool, BUT THAT MEANS THE BROTHERS INTERACT WITH EACHOTHER IN ONLY 2 EPISODES CIRCA

AND I HATE IT SM!

also why does everyone kinda have the same personality (by this i mean cus they react basically the same in every situation, apart if there's a computer/something technological, then donnie would use it/the other 3 would say something abt like "donnie could use it")

and they are so chill abt their problems (leo's self worth issues, raph's anger issues) ? like everything is so lighthearted and they already know how to deal and therapy talk??

i wonder how they will get to grow as characters cus as of now, they are already way more mature than any other tmnt version???

goldfin arc:... so???? IM TRYING TO FIND SOMETHING POSITIVE TO SAY ABT IT REAL HARD, maybe it will come to me later so lets start with things i despise abt the show!

uno: I HATE THAT THEY PAIRED EACH OTHER WITH A "COUSIN", I WANT MY TURTLES INTERACTING WITH EO

deux: i hate that they have "cousins" 😭 why is every character related to them (tbf this was already from the movie so u can just ignore it) it makes the world sm smaller and takes out so many known villains... also i hate scum sm, also shes the turtles' cousin too so her relationship with splinter is kinda even weirder

(tbf it could be that i hate the cousins thing after i came back from my vacation surronded by my huge family, AND HAVING TO SPEND SO MANY DAYS WITH MY SO FUCKING MANY COUSINS)

три: the way that the stories are told, apart that it makes it look like nothing is canon? ive seen many fans confused about it, but i think that both stories actually happened. the only reason i dont like it is cus... it clashes with the choice of having a single turtle each ep so hard

like whats the point of starting the arc with a turtle narrating, but the next ep it will be focused on someone else?? and then ending it with the first one closing it like as if he had been the one talking all the time

quatro: uhhh by this time i found things i like so i want to talk about them too, but! i feel like this arc is so much worse than the bishop one and horrible for a closure.

the enemies are uhhhhh something, the stakes are lower than my will to live and we get poop jokes too <3

by the second arc my brother started loudly sighing and glare at me every time donnie/mikey would make a "joke" we wouldn't understand, i started beating him to feel something

NOW THE STUFF I LIKED ABOUT THE SHOW

one: THE ANIMATION IS GREAT! im not the biggest fan of the artstyle but thats my personal bias, i like it being 2d! (i still like rise's animation and fluidity more, but THAT studio is impossible to beat, im still destroyed they dropped lmk <\3)

due: i liked the detective that hated birds, he brought a chaotic energy no one has in this show

três: THERE WASNT ANY APRILN4RDO THANK FUCKING GOD (i wrote this but then my brother made me notice the murales and now idk if i should take this out or myself)

четыре: i love hun and him being an animal activist is the cutest

and thats it ig?

tldr: i think its a mid series, it does nothing remarkably bad but it doesnt do anything remarkably good.

i finished and it left me nothing (it left me longing for more of rise actually)

though, its early to say it cus we have just 12 episodes! ofc i hope it will get better!!

could we get more details about donnies accident? a while back you mentioned that donnies shell is all fucked up cause of a lab accident; what was he doing? was he building a bomb or something??

also how was recovery for him? was splints there? or was this during one of his depressive episodes and feeds into donnies resentment of him?

Welcome to the all-consuming void of rottmnt brainrot my friend, as a welcoming gift S present a long-winded explanation of MM! Donnie's shell trauma under the cut <3

You're not too far off by guessing it was a bomb, lol. I haven't decided exactly what he was working on, but I know it was some kind of highly volatile weapon prototype that backfired at the worst possible moment when he was distracted and didn't have any protective gear on. This was back before he felt the need to wear a battle shell at home, unfortunately, which made the injury much, much worse.

This happened back when he was between 11-13, so Splinter was somewhat present to help with taking care of him, but the main caretaker role went to Leo as the resident medic. Splinter's help was not appreciated by Donnie, to say the least, considering this wasn't long after the incident and left Donnie wondering, "Why now? Why couldn't he be there for Leo and Mikey like he's doing for me, of all people. Does he think I'm too weak to handle this?"

So yeah, Splinter tried but in the end Leo and Mikey took over Donnie's recovery process to avoid any unneeded tension/arguments. And like I said in the original post, after that, Donnie never went without protection for his shell and became very reluctant to build any kind of weapon that does large-scale damage like explosives, lasers, etc.

This didn't stop him from building other awesome tech like the turtle tank or all kinds of defensive measures for himself and the lair, and he still likes building smaller scale weaponry like guns or multi-tools. Kinda ironic in his brothers' opinions that he refuses to make a flash grenade while also not hesitating to build a mini-turret for the lair entrance to gun down trespassers, but whatever makes him happy ig

for rottmnt: nonbinary lesbian donnie! at first i did not see it at all but now i struggle to imagine him any other way.

for ducktales: sorry it's another queer headcanon but genderfluid scrooge! somebody in the group chat proposed it and gave their propaganda (I DON'T REMEMBER WHO RIP) and at first i was like 😕😕 but i couldn't stop thinking about it and now i really like it. scroldie toxic yuri is real in my head

8: you hope more people will come to appreciate ___ (a ship, a trope, an episode, etc)

for rottmnt: the fact that donnie is really bad at sports. i think it's an interesting detail and i don't see it explored super often in fan content. in particular i find it interesting that he always participates anyway and seems to have fun and genuinely give it his all, and his brothers seem to like playing with him even if he sucks. there's some good fluff fic potential in there. also the shorts/mini episodes on youtube are so neglected by the fandom

Fold, my first uploaded fic! It's one of the best examples of my writing that exists and I still struggle to believe I wrote it in just four days. People also seem to really like it and the validation and feedback from readers is really inspiring. 💜

I fell in love with rottmnt. I saw people talking about the movie and I’ve always loved animation so I figured I’d watch it and I got hooked. I love all the characters and their relationships. I love how much it focuses on familia love.

Leo was (obviously) my favorite.

As I went down the rabbit whole that is joking a fandom I saw Usagi’s name popped up and I love doing deep dives and research. This lead to me watching tmnt 2003 episodes for context and deep diving into the Usagi comics lore. I really love the relationship they had in 2003 and wanted more of it but in a universe I was more familiar with. So I went out to find it.

And while there are great leosagi stories in the community both of 2003 variety and of Leo x Yuichi, nothing really hit exactly what I was looking for.

Mind you we would not be here with out “The Rabbit Has Always Loved The Turtle” by HailSam (if someone has their tumblr let me know) and the “The Tortoise and the Hare” series by @bluepeachstudios their stories really had me falling in love with this ship.

I had read and seen plenty what if Leo was thrown into cuz dimension instead of escaping the prison dimension and was like what if. I watching Inuyasha and played Pokémon legends of arceus and something about putting a modern day person in feudal Japan has always been fun for me. So I took inspiration and I wrote.

I have experience helping my friend set up dnd coma pins and making mini intro coma pins for kids who are just learning how to play. And I love world building so it was a fun exercise in my skills. I got to learn more about feudal Japan, the turtles and Usagi. It’s was really fun for me.

I write kinda like how a movie is filmed. I would write what ever scene was in my head at that moment and then figure out how to build up to it. At first I was just playing around. I wrote the flower crown scene first followed by Leo revealing his powers and then the confession and I realized I was to far in not to make it a story. I started laying out all the prices and planing it all out. I knew the ending I wanted right away and now it was just putting the prices together. I also knew I wanted to honor rise and focus on the beautiful family relationships they gave us and build them which is why you get so many chapters with the rise family.

My favorite scenes are probably Usagi seeing leo under the tree (AWoSaN 8) as it is what started this madness. But I also love their confession (AWoSaN 12) and gift exchange (AWoSaN14)

I am also very proud of some of my horror scenes the Krang’s almost escape in (AWoSaN 9) Shingen’s death (TWoFFaF 1) and I am very proud of Hikiji’s backstory as I already have it written but you will have to wait for that.

I actually don’t listen to music while writing. I can do it when I’m sorry boarding or imagine the scenes but not when I’m actually writing. My brain hooks on the the noise around me and then I can’t write or I’m writing the song lyrics. I will listen to instrumental music when editing as long as I don’t know the words to the song. My brain will start sing along to the instrumental and then we’re back to the original problem. So normally it’s me, my thoughts, and my dog who is not happy that I’m writing and instead of petting him

I listen to the playlist I made when I need ideas or need to get into the mood to write/story board. That and to pick out chapter titles.

In conclusion I have the worst case of brain rot and you all get to benefit from my torture.
