Regular Inktober Day 13: Rise

What can I say? Sometimes as you rise, you get more traumatized powerful. You get more powerful.

The prompt was "Rise". So of course I had to draw ROTTMNT.

Anyways, after 22 hours and 37 minutes spread over 8 days and about 156 total layers used (end layer number is 94 due to having to merge a ton of them down to resize the canvas) this one is finally finished.

I had originally planned to do both parts. But then I decided not to. But then right before I finished the post-Movie part, I decided to do the Season 1 part again.

You can kind of see that my drawing style changed a bit between the two parts, probably because I did all of Part 1 (post-movie) prior to even sketching out Part 2 (Season 1)

Even though October is officially done, that does not mean I am done with Inktober. I still have prompts to do, and I will do the majority of them, no matter how long it takes.

ROTTMNT review / brainrot

Hello, I have now watched the entire first season of Rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtle, and had time to collect my thoughts, and I will start this off by saying: I LOVE IT I love the show, the boys characterisation is amazing. Between the 2003 version (The one I grew up with) and this, I really love it. I remember watching the movie for the first time, and was like “Wow they are different.” But I really love the difference, and Leo is my absolute favorite turtle out of them all, with Donnie being an absolute cutie.  If I had to rank it, I would rank Raph above Donnie, but I love all of them. Now, for my thoughts about some of the villains: MEATSWEATS - 8/10 - very enjoyable Did Meatsweats die??? Did he die??? Because like, I haven’t watched season 2 yet, but the way that one episode ended with the bbq show, and them wanting to eat him, did he die Is he not coming back D: I actuall really enjoyed him and that whole episode with him being besties with Mikey. It was really fun. Meatsweats, as barbaric as he is, was just a fun character. Enjoyable villain to watch.  HYPNO & WARREN - 9/10 - I expected more though Absolute power couple, we only got one episode where they were a power couple though, which I found to be kind of unfortunate that there weren’t more, but I liked that episode. I did expect more though. As someone coming from the movie, where they made an appearance working together in the beginning of the movie, I was expecting them to be a bit of a regular occurence in the show. It would make sense in terms of showing them in the movie, and I expect to see them together again in season 2, but them only making one occurence together in season 1, just didn’t really make sense to me. I love both of them though, Warren is a funny character with his whole: I AM YOUR ARC-NEMESIS >:( He got going on, it’s funny, and hypno is genuinely lovable with his whole personal expression. I love the purple. BIG MAMA - 7/10 - I LOVE HER Ok, I gave her 7/10, but I still absolutely adore her. Her whole way of phrasing her sentences are amazing, and the whole twist with her being a massive spider, incredible. I expect more villany from her in season 2, right now she is kind of there, she was kind of a threat in a few episode, but I expect a little bit more.  BAXTER THE STOCKBOY - 6/10 - His whole ordeal was funny I wasn’t expecting Baxter to be reoccuring, but his whole: Subscribe to me :D Pay the small members fee :D thingy funny, Baxter was neat. DRAXUM - 10/10 - What a bitch boy Ok Ok, hear me out. Draxum’s whole arc was so funny when you think about it’s progression, from: “You’re BEAUTIFUL :’O” To I will destroy you Is objectively so funny, because his whole shift is like “I created you so you would kill humans!” “But we protect the people!” “GASP HOW DARE, I CREATED YOU, IF YOU STAND IN MY WAY I WILL KILL YOU, LOSER MUTANTS” And his side kicks are not to be forgotten, They are likeable, but they didn’t stick as well in the charming meter for me. They are ok, I’d give them a 5/10 THE FOOT CLAN - 10/10 - cuties Now the footclan is amazing, I loved them from their introduction to now. I love Cassandra, I like two foot guys, and I like how both in the movie and in the show, they just have someone they worship. What a great cult. It’s my favorite thing the show does. They don’t just make villains, the villains are also just goofy people with interests such as Lou Jitsu, and Jupiter Jim. It’s just fun. I might talk about the main characters another day, I just really liked the villains, and wanted to talk about them.

So I started ROTTMNT last night with my dad because I unexpectedly went home for the day lol (I’m already back at college now but will be back for Thanksgiving on Tuesday lol 😔), but he seemed to be interested in it so far…

He unfortunately didn’t like the theme song, which is really goofy because it slaps so hard, but he really liked the inclusion of Donnie whistling the ‘87 theme in the “Mascot Melee” episode when he’s closing the turtle tank :)))

Author’s Note:*kicks down door* I COME BEARING MORE AIRPLANE FANFIC!!! This fic is HEAVILY based off my own experiences in my 9th grade art class where I would burst into giggles every time the names Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael were mentioned. My teacher even decided to play “Name the Artist” using “3 pics, One word” and PRESENTED PICTURES OF MY BLORBOS ON SCREEN IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS!!! So yeah, I’m putting April through that same torture because I’m projecting. Anyways, enjoy!!!

April

April O’Neil plopped down at her desk just as the school bell rang, it’s annoying music echoing throughout Idkwhattonamethis High School. She blew her puffy bangs out of her eyes as she rested her chin on her hand, ignoring the chatter of her classmates.

That’s when Ms. Deguinio burst through the door, her copious amounts of necklaces and bracelets jangling with every move. April immediately brightened when she entered, sitting up straighter at her desk.

As far as high school art teachers went, Ms. Deguinio was by far the coolest. With her colorful head scarves, even more colorful jewelry, and her usual combo of a leather jacket with jeans, she was a sight to behold. And on top of that, she was always super casual and nice to the students. Combine all of that into a pot and stir, and you get the love and approval of the entire 10th grade.

April in particular really loved her. Ms. Deguinio was a weirdo, just like her, and boy was she proud of it. She was not afraid to flaunt her weird side in front of her students and that made April look up to her. Though her teacher probably wasn’t friends with 4 humanoid turtles and their talking rat father.

“Good morning class,” she said in a casual yet sincere way. “So,” she clapped. “We’re moving onto a new topic today: the art of the Renaissance. But before we start learning anything, I’m going to need you guys to take a pre test.” She held up a stack of quiz papers and the entire class groaned.

“Come on, you guys know why I have to do this,” Ms. Deguinio said, leaning against the teacher’s table. “This is so I know what parts of the lesson I need to spend more time on. But don’t worry, this test isn’t graded.” The class cheered at that. Another item added to April O’Neil’s list for why Ms. Deguinio deserves a raise.

With that, her teacher started handing out the test papers. April fetched her her pen, which was the same bright pink as her glasses and not the one Donnie had rigged with tranquilizer darts. She seriously needed to keep all her belongings away from the crazy purple turtle she called her best friend.

The test paper landed on her table. “You have 15 minutes to answer this,” Ms. Deguinio declared. “Time starts now.” April wrote her name and began answering.

The first few questions were relatively easy. It was mostly stuff about the historical significance of the Renaissance, nothing they hadn’t learned in their history classes. She answered questions about the word Renaissance meaning rebirth, how it was a revival of the Classical Era, and what centuries it took place in. Then she got to question number 4.

c. Michelangelo

d. Raphael

She didn’t mean to laugh, she really didn’t, but seeing the names of all four of her turtle friends on a school mandated test was so unexpected that she started giggling. It didn’t get any better when she face planted onto the test paper, her whole body shaking with silent laughter.

“Is there a problem April?”

April shot up in her seat to find Ms. Deguinio leaning over her. Whoops.

“I’m fine!” she blurted out, pushing her glasses up her nose. “Sorry, I just…” She pointed at the question. “These are my friend’s names and I found it funny cause I didn’t expect it.”

Ms. Deguinio looked down at her test paper to where she was pointing. “You’re friend’s names are Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael?”

“They’re brothers.”

“Hm, makes sense.”

Ms. Deguinio straightened up. “Finish answering your test. And please try not to make any more loud noises.”

“Yes ma’am,” April said with a salute.

Her teacher walked away, shooting her a smile. As soon as she moved on, April circled the letter b and continued answering the test.

Later that day:

The entrance to Donnie’s lab burst open, giving the young genius a mini heart attack. He grunted in frustration, spinning his wheelie chair around.

“LEO!!! What have I told you about-” Donnie stopped short. “Oh, hey April,” he said upon seeing his best friend/older sister figure standing in the doorway and not his annoying twin.

“Something funny happened at school today.”

“SPILL THE TEA!!!”

No but I thought it might be fun to do a drawn comment. Leo is the one who sticks with me and who I like to to see fan content of the most but while watching ROTTMNT I enjoy watching them all almost the same. In terms of characters they're all super important and I love them all and relate to each of them in different ways (idk if I'm describing this well lol). I felt like drawing the bros together and since I'm doing this for fun, why not? I did put Leo in the centre for this pic tho because he's my fav.

Also I have passing knowledge of 2012 TMNT and have only actually seen the 2007 (?) movie and ROTTMNT so it will basically all be ROTTMNT (spoilers :P).
