I saw someone mentioning this on Twitter and I just. can't stop thinking about it.
So at the start of Journal 3 we find an entry about giant "vampire" bats.
Ford, buddy, you aren't fooling anyone.
I think tasting your own blood when you get a minor injury and it bleeds is a pretty common thing, so I'm not sure why he's trying to convince us he's never tried it?????? Like, my guy, you didn't have to make it suspicious, but you did anyway. Now I'm concerned.
(Also, a really bad job of convincing us he never tasted human blood. If you're going to erase that part, maybe erase the whole sentence altogether. Like, with just "human blood tasted" we can guess where this is going.)
And I guess having opinions about how good human blood tastes is kinda weird, but knowing the guy it isn't the weirdest thing he's ever thought or done. He burns his own face because it's faster than shaving, for fuck's sake.
AND THEN IT GETS EVEN WORSE.
MORE THAN USUAL?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN MORE THAN USUAL?????? WHAT THE FUCK.
And the worst part is that they weren't even vampire bats... they were fruit bats... Like he wasn't becoming a vampire or getting weird symptoms from the bite, his brain was just being weird about it.
Actually no, the worst part is that it implies that the desire to taste blood is something he gets... sometimes. Just sometimes though, no need to overanalyze it /j.

can't help but think like, bro. if you wanted to attack the archive, good job i guess?
but if you actually wanted to erase the queer + nsfw + queer nsfw content that ao3 houses...good fucking luck, dude (sarcastic).
people are always going to create. people are always going to be exploring the meaning of humanity or morality or any complex emotion through their art.
governments and groups alike have tried to censor literature in history. that sort of sentiment has indeed led to book burnings and regimes and horrible ways of attempting to control the human mind. but do you know what it didn't do? it didn't fucking stop those writers. it didn't stop their responses. it didn't stop efforts to restore and preserve after the worst had passed.
like, if that is your unironic objective for this whole situation. i don't know what to tell you. lol. humans, we are always going to create. queer people, we're always going to have pride in our identity and expression. authors and artists and creators, we are always writing and drawing and creating for ourselves, for our inquiry, and for our communities.
if ao3 really goes down for a prolonged period of time, people will find other ways. if you take away one website, people will move to others. if you take every one of those down (and i hope it drives you bankrupt doing so), then, eventually, people will create their own archives. online. in real life. of course it won't be the same. and it'll be difficult. but, i guess my point is that we won't stop.
like imagine telling a human to stop making art. lol. companies will stop doing something if it doesn't make a profit, but we aren't creating for money. what we're creating for, our causes and motives and passions, are things a cyber attack/acts of hate will always fail to stifle and take away.

Icebound episode 15 spoilers under the cut
You know, idk if it’s a good or bad thing that I had the previous context of Baldur’s Gate 3, where the entire plot of the game involves Mindflayers and their whole mindfuckery, before starting the Ogreton arc in Icebound, because the MOMENT someone eluded to some kind of mindfuckery, my mind IMMEDIATELY went to Illithids or something of that nature. And I’m kinda glad I was right but I also hate the way I found out that I was right
It’s kinda like the wendigo thing ya know? Because I had the previous context of Until Dawn (a horror game involving the lore of the wendigo), as well as my subsequent hyperfixation of researching the wendigo when I was like 13, I had an inkling that wendigo was going to be involved in some way in Icebound. And, again, I was correct, but I also hate the way I found out I was correct
Also, side note, but I love the fact that Derek mashed up a bunch of different mythologies and folklore and practices for Icebound. Like the wendigo from Native American folklore, the Aztec death whistle that Derek used for the wendigo followed by the Dragonborn Druid camp and their practices being similar to the Aztecs, as well as Ogreton having a lot of ancient Greek and ancient Roman influences (also maybe being partially inspired by the tale of the lotus eaters from the Odyssey?)
Like how has it taken me THIS long to watch Icebound. Genuinely, how. Literally EVERYTHING about it is so up my alley because I have at one point or another have hyperfixated on just about everything that very clearly has some kind of influence on this campaign. Obviously i know the Icebound and OUAW campaigns didn’t exist when I was 13/14, but man if they did I absolutely would’ve eaten this shit up. Probably would’ve even gotten into D&D sooner tbh.
