Rin smelt like peonies. By now, she’ll smell rotton and musty. Kakashi doesn’t go check.

During the war, Minato smelt like rot. After Kannabi, Minato smelt like wildflowers and or dish soap. He never should’ve had to smell like rot again.

Kakashi cannot remember what Sakumo smelt like. He imagined he’d smell like safety.

Red: -Bro could tell LMAO -WHY DO YOU THINK BRO WAS FLIRTING WITH YOU THE ENTIRE TIME??? -Oh- you thought he was joking when he said he would tear out his soul for you? I watched my first horror movie tonight since i was a teenager in the 90's. Back then i mostly giggled through Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer with friends. Then life happened and i sort-of stopped watching things in general. Anyway, I'm now finding myself on months of bedrest and am watching things to pass the time and decided I'd watch a movie tonight and picked horror just to see if i even like horror. I caught The Pope's Exorcist and actually really enjoyed it, which is delightful! It kept me on the edge of my seat and in suspense and i know my heart was racing at times. So I figure enjoying that one gives me a starting point in the genre, and i was wondering if you might be able to suggest others based off my liking that one? I picked it based off rotton tomato critic and audience ratings. Not because i care heavily about such things, but it made it a logical place to start of what's new. I'm not catholic so i don't care about religion based horror but I'm not opposed to it. I don't like jumpscares. Learned that from Sixth Sense and 12 years on tumblr. Oh! I've also recently seen Renfield, though none of the dracula movies that follow the books. I don't really count Renfield as horror in this regard because it's comedy horror and more funny than scary. Kind of like how i found 90's horror. Though that might have been just as much me being a punk ass kid trying to look brave with my friends. Who knows. It was a long time ago. Anyway, do you have any suggestions? Old or new doesn't matter. I'm bored and mostly stuck in bed. Thank you for your time!

I haven't seen The Pope's Exorcist so I had to search it up - exorcism movies don't do a lot for me, but The Taking of Deborah Logan and Daniel Isn't Real are perennial recommendations which I think would sync up with possession movies. Deborah Logan is kind of divisive with how it treats Alzheimer's and dementia - for me it resonated with my experiences and felt like a sensitive exploration of the topic for horror, but it can also reas the opposite way.

Hellbender and The Deeper You Dig are some fantastic work by a team of independent filmmakers who are also a family. They all act and direct and write together in upstate New York and have astonishing talent. A magnificent illustration of why seeking work by independent artists is such a good idea.

I just watched Ghost Crew, a weird little low budget Scottish movie that I won't say too much about except that it starts out as slightly cringe-comedy faux documentary and grows into a lot more. Zombie For Sale is an adorable Korean romantic comedy zombie movie I had a fun time watching. The Dark (2018) also very intriguing movie, basically victims of abuse getting revenge but one of them is a revenant.

Jamie Marks Is Dead is a queer ghost story that made me cry, everyone should watch it. Also in the sweet romantic category is Attachement, a Jewish and queer horror. It's written and directed by a Jewish person and to my experience felt very true to life. My personal reading of it was a kind of metaphor about how Judaism can be carried forward in different ways everywhere from generational to academically to people who convert. It's another one that I think could be read different, but the positive reading works better for me.

A Wounded Fawn is just bonkers surreal, I can't describe it exactly but it's about a serial killer who gets in deep with some very hallucinatory shit. Related, but Vicious Fun is exactly what it says on the tin. Very fun silly stuff. He's Watching is imho one of the most terrifying found footage movies ever. All found footage movies use a lot of pretty common and consistent tricks of limited light and limited perspective, but He's Watching fucks with the sense of reality by constantly obfuscating who or what is recording, where the line between real and film is blurred.

Babysitter Wanted is also a fun twist on the satanic panic trope. Also similar in that vein, Anything For Jackson is pretty neat. And while I'm thinking about Shudder, The Mortuary Collection is pure spooky fun, a delightful anthology movie with Clancy Brown getting to chew up some scenery. Also for the movie that has everything, Saloum. It's a kind of revenge crossed with magic crossed with evil spirits centered around a bad ass team of mercenaries for hire.

he was originally brought on with the Research Commission with the rest of the fifth fleet as a hunter since he was actually a pretty good hunter, and pretty much does normal hunter things like investigating stuff and taking down large monsters so the research can actually like happen

yea that was at least until he got his leg broken or something by a diablos and almost died immediately afterwards. its not to say he never sustained other injuries but a lot of them were somehow fortunately enough to not be super horrible even if some were still pretty major. (rib cracks fucking suck btw, he wouldnt want those again. dont get your chest crushed by an anjanath everyone)

since he couldnt walk he had to return back and have someone else handle it in his stead and spent the next while healing through that. rolled a nat1 on post traumatic arthritis and chronic pain upon ye! fuck your knee in particular idk. it sucked. he was annoyed and a little disappointed since it meant he might not be able to hunt anymore as he was still kind of still freshly healed at that point he gave it a bit more time. as he got better he started working lighter jobs again, mostly deliveries and nothing too labor intensive but eventually he got used to it even if he was still kind of annoyed he leg ouchie

he went out hunting anyway. he took the jobs again after being bored and yes he suffered the consequences always actually. (moving around is good but hes definitely pushed it way too much) and got forced into even less activity afterward because. knee hurt curse. something something emotional grief and accepting it eventually with some help he helped with forcing zorah magdaros out into the ocean (mostly manning a ballista) and then the months of whatever the hell happens between that and high rank in game idk

he got a cane, somewhere within that time frame after someone suggested it. nothing super fancy since he didnt really know what he'd want on it anyway. he also kind of psuedo retired as a hunter in favour of idk. becoming a quest handler instead, dipping a bit more into the research part or something and got assigned to another hunter (Odessa, who's owned by my friend @/thehappiestgolucky) and thry get to experience. the horrors. such as baby god (xeno jiiva)

he was both her quest handler and hunting partner in some form but he did a lot more monster tracking than actual fighting, also cooking for the road. his book is essentially just a giant hunter's journal with whatever information about monsters he gets and notes it down. at some point they all move to Seliana and he begins his winter hating arc

the cold made it a lot harder to ever do actual hunts and he'd retreat back to camp a lot more, heat packs were the most friend ever and for a solid while he actually made the mistake of staying in a little too long instead of trying to move around (but with the advice of that he felt a lot better) snow and ice however. mean to him. they got him an ice pick for his cane so he doesnt fall over

he does actually have at least one other cane with a wider base for more support, since all the locales reasonably are a little mean to him. forest is fine but mostly lays in tripping over a tree root or something. wildspire just tires him the hell out (and the sun means the metal part of his cane heats up and he Has absolutely accidentally touched it before) since the sand isnt the best place to walk

coral highlands is. its a lot of highland so hes been a lot more careful regarding it and rotton vale, while he didn't really want to go down there again. bones are tripping hazards and bones are spiky and sharp and theres also effluvium which honestly could not be good for any hunter to breathe in like that flatout. you are going to fuck up your lungs.

other random things. hes just kind of shy about his appearance in a way. even if most of the other hunters dont *seem* to judge him (they signed up for danger they know this is a possibility) the occasional pity glance or remarks are just. thanks! i guess! though it doesnt bother him as much anymore it does still a little bit. overall hes also kind of shy in the way of being seen like anywhere without most of his outfit on (the hot springs) not in a gender dysphoric kind of way, if anything he passes just fine but also theres the weird little fear of judgement

for the most part he had his own room living in Astera, not super fancy but it was cozy enough. in Seliana his lodging is bigger but still sort of a one floor cabin with everything he'd need. he doesn't use his cane while indoors but he likes having it within reach. also travelling. the line from rise where sometimes hunters go "oh sweet a chair/bench" is exactly what he mutters to himself every single time he finds somewhere to sit. most of it as a kind of joke but he needs it

he retired from the commission completely at some point at the age of roughly 18-19 and moved out to Kamura, bringing most of his old hunter gear and journals with him. and then. the horrors (the rampage)

the fact that he ends up meeting Odessa again anyway is kind of hilarious though

Friday the 13th: Part 13 (cancelled 2017 reboot)

Friday The 13TH is a horror series that most people are familiar with, even if they get their facts mixed up about it. The 1980 original had Jason's mother Pamala as the killer, avenging her son after he'd drowned as a result of the camp counselors not paying attention to him. Jason was in Part 2 as the killer, but he didn't get his mask until part 3.

In 2013, Paramount got the rights to the franchise, meaning they could do whatever they wished with the series, and almost immediately they began working up some drafts for a new installment as the series hasn't seen a single film since the reboot back in 2009.

Before I get into the details of the 3 separate drafts of the script, let's talk about a found clay model of proposed looks for Jason.

This image was found on eBay of all places by Lost Media Wiki user Edwin on the 3rd of May. I tried to put the link provided through the Wayback Machine, however and unfortunately nothing came up.

Here we can see 3 models of Jason's face, and how the filmmakers for this reboot wanted his facial deformity to look, with the one in the middle looking the most like the one drawn just behind it. From the sides we can see that they look as if they're inside of a glass case.

Because the link leads to a dead end, it's hard to know who sold this, who bought it, how much it was, or any further details on it.

Now... onto the scripts.

Draft #1 has very little information put out about it. It's rumored to have been a "coming of age monster movie" set in the 80's with found footage aspects to it.

Draft #2 would've been titled Friday The 13TH: 3-D (as if those have a good rep), would also take place in the 80's, focused more on the camp counselors of Camp Crystal Lake, and much like the 2009 reboot, revealed that Jason didn't drown, but instead survived and has been living in the camp for years. However, each time the camp counselors tried to kill Jason, he'd only get stronger as he kills all but one who, much like the final girl at the end of the first film realizes he's still there.

Draft #3 is the last and most interesting of these concepts; and it was the closest to being actually finished; it would've been called Friday The 13TH: Part 13

It would've started in 1977, and two camp counselors were murdered by a man with a sack covering his head while they were atop of the fire lookout tower.

Now because the killer is wearing a sack over their head, one would assume that it was Jason, as seen in this render of his Part 2 appearance in the Friday The 13TH game.

However, it is instead revealed to be Jason's father, Elias. He would've been the focus for the first 40 minutes of this reboot before he was murdered by his wife Pamala. The focus would've shifted onto her and once she sees her son, Jason, drown, she would've committed some murders herself. And, because it's reported that this film would've had 3 killers, Jason was said to have gone on a full rampage after Pamala's death before he is defeated at the end.

Now, personally, I think it would've been a bit overkill (no pun intended) for there to be 3 killers in this film, but I'm certain that it could have been handled well. But, as you can tell by the title, this film was cancelled, and was never made; now, why could that have been? Well, that's easy to explain.....

Yep; 2017's RINGS. The reboot of the American remake of the original film Ring. RINGS was also a Paramount film, however this film was a flop.

An 8% on the website Rotton Tomatoes from critics alongside the 23% from audience members, a 4.5/10 on IMDB, and generally unfavorable reviews all across the board.

Paramount saw that this film had performed badly, so if RINGS had failed, what hope would Friday The 13TH: Part 13 have?

So, the whole franchise has been in limbo for years, with only a successful game coming out the same year as RINGS, that would no longer be offered on Steam past the 31st of December this year (2023 incase you're reading in the future) and wouldn't be playable past the 31st of December in 2024 due to the license for the rights expiring. Other than that, not much has happened since.

Currently a prequel show is in the works titled Crystal Lake. It's going to air on streaming network Peacock, but it's up in the air right now on if this is going to happen.

So, for this film it's safe to say that it's lost. but for the production materials, I can say that it is...

Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

We went in not knowing what to expect, and we probably enjoyed it more as a result. It's a fun film; fitting with the tone of the first two.

I have 2 gripes with this film, both cast related. First off, without Michael Pena, this isn't quite as funny. He stole the a lot of the scenes in the first 2 films. Also, I get why they recast the excellent Abby Ryder Fortson for Endgame (the actress would have been too young to play Cassie Lang for the 2023 time frame of Endgame (Emma Fuhrmann, 17 at the time of filming, fit Cassie's MCU age of 16 better, and actually resembled an older Fortson), so *that recasting* made sense. But in the time-frame of Quantumania (which takes places in 2025) Cassie's supposed to be 18, Furman was 21, but definitely could've played 18. Instead they recast someone even older... Katherine Newton was 25 during shooting, doesn't resemble the other 2 Cassies, nor quite as good an actress.

Still, tons of action, comedy (that's funny within the context of the situation), and a mysterious backstory (but really only

mysterious if you haven't been watching the Disney+ MCU shows). It's a joyride, never a dull moment, although sometimes the plot meandered. It was nice that Janet and Hank got a lot more to do this time around.

Modok (scene during the trailers) makes sense within the context of the MCU, Majors is appropriately mancing as Kang. I don't know what's with the low Rotton Tomatoes, I can't wait to see this again.

A-, 9.1/10

3D: 3D usually doesn't work in dark movies (which was the downfall of both Wakanda Forever & Malificent's 3D), but surprisingly works here... when it matters. Scenes where the 3D wouldn't do much to enhance the experience, the 3D was practically non-existent. For scenes where it would make a difference, the stereoscopic imagining was pretty good (I noticed only 1 brief scene where the depth frustrums didn't line up creating a double image in the mid background, otherwise it was always clean)

6.5/10 for the 3D. By comparison Shang Chi's was a 10/10, Wakanda Forever's 3D was a 3/10
