The High Realm, a realm of light, a peaceful sanctuary for the dead of Berzerker Kind, opposite of the Hell Realm. The heir and the hunter.

“Jaspar had known it was only a matter of time before his duty to his family caught up to him. The dagger clasped in his hand, knuckles white from his flexing grip, felt like led, weighing down each of his silent steps, and he couldn't help but hope it would pull and pull until he sunk into the earth like quicksand. The mere idea of being buried alive usually sent spikes of terror jolting through his lean build, and after what he had witnessed as a child, one couldn't blame him for his fear, but right now, staring at the back of the woman he loved through the dense leaves of a wickerbush, being six feet under sounded like a haven. He’d welcome the dirt swallowing him whole like a blanket shielding him from his responsibility, join his family as he too disappeared into the ground with no way to claw himself out; Anything would be better than this. Anything to escape the sound of his knife plunging into her flesh, the sounds she’d make, the foggy glaze that would cloud her eyes as her final breath left her body. His stomach lurched as the image of her nails clawing desperately at his arms as she bled out formed in his mind, and even though it was her blood he had been so eager to spill just a week ago, his usual steady hand shook, the blade’s silver gleam, which was soon to be drenched in red, trembling in the sunlight.”

For centuries, the kingdom of Lyria had been led by a single family, the throne passed down from one greedy generation to the next.

With the kings passing, the title of the ruler is passed down to his only daughter, and for Jasper Wil Elendil, the idea of yet another merciless leader is unbearable, and he isn't alone. A handful of the commoners, a group who call themselves the Shades, have been planning a revolt for years, and as a well-known killer-of-the-corrupt, they manage to snag Jasper, and it doesn't take much convincing for him to agree that the queen to be must die. Nearly jumping at the chance to end the age of the royals, he sets off with a plan to trap her.

With the crowning ceremony taking place in mere days, the queen sets off to visit a neighboring kingdom to meet another royal family, but halfway there, her carriage is ambushed. The guards are slain before she has a chance to see the culprit, and soon enough she’s stranded alone in the woods, fearing for her life. Of course, Jasper had been the one to take them out and slip back into the trees before she noticed him, and he follows her silently for a while before coming out, pretending to be nothing but a traveler, and offers her help, slowly gaining her trust, deciding to have a bit of fun with this one. After all, its not often one gets the opportunity for revenge, and he plans on taking his time.

The more he delays her death, the more he begisn to doubt his task. The two grow much closer than he anticipated, and in the end, he’s torn between his blazing desire for revenge and the growing love he feels for the queen.
