You are right when you say V1 - V3 are development for Ruby. Tbh i think ppl think the protagonist always have to be the center pf the plot but in reality they don't the best storytelling happens because the story doesnt end with the Protag. DRRR! is a good example! However I do feel the writers focus too much on the mystery of things like sliver eyes and do not devote enough time to answering them to create hype. It is why i feel like the main story of the show/maria has been sideline.

Hello again Dagger. Season’s Greetings to you, fam! Thanks. Glad to know I’m not the only one alone in my opinions of Ruby and the treatment of her story within the series. The thing is… I’m not even sure if it’s the Writers focusing too much on the ‘mystery of things’ anymore. 

With how often they do it for the sake of pushing the narrative for the season and how it’s often executed, I’m honestly starting to question how the show is written; specifically the structure of the different volumes and how each of them fit within the course of an arc trilogy whenever our heroes enter a new adventure in a new kingdom.  

Do the Writers come up with one core narrative that encompasses the entirety of an arc trilogy which they thendivide within the different volumes or…do they just plan and write per volume without much emphasis placed into tying them together?

This is the key reason why I still praise the Beacon Trilogy. I would still say that the writing for the original three seasons was the show’s best based on how interconnected each volume felt. There were elements within the PLOT highlighted between V1 and V2 that acted as subtle breadcrumbs that pavedthe groundwork for the events of V3—the final season within that arc— whichwas ultimately paid off by the Fall of Beacon. For me, this is something that Ifelt was missing from the Mistral Trilogy. That cohesiveness.

One comment that I’ve heard to disapprove the writing for RWBY is that “The Writers don’t know what they’re doing half the time and just make things up as they go along”.

It’s one of those kinds of critical comments where I’m find myself being conflictedin where I stand with it. On one hand, I disagree with it in some way but onthe other hand, I can see the validity of that critique and understand why someone would make that kind of point, y’know what I mean?

I disagree with it because I’ve seen ideas from the CRWBY Writers. Really Good ideas. And from these really good ideas, I’ve also seen ways in which the Writers could’ve easily taken some of those ideas, interlock them together and use them to craft a really compelling story for the PLOT or arc for a specific character.  

However, often at times, (more often than none I’m afraid to say) this isn’t what happens…not exactly?

Most of the time, these ideas are implemented in such a way that…don’t necessarily make complete sense if you sit and really think about it especially if you were to compare it to details left behind in previous seasons. And the only rationale you can come up with to justify why this decision was being made was for the sake of pushing the PLOT.

Since V4, it has become a running habit for the Writers to introduce elements into the story for the sake of pushing whatever PLOT they have set for that respective season. While that isn’t exactly a problem—from a writing standpoint, there is nothing wrong with introducing elements into your story to advance your plot. The issue I often have—and you’ve heard me say this many times by now— is in the execution of those elements since it every so often doesn’t stick thelanding.

In the case of Ruby Rose; her supposed arc as a Silver Eyed Warrior is anexample of “good idea, not-so-good execution of said idea” based on how the PLOT has handled it thus far. At least that’s my opinion.

He would never.

Even though they’re right next to each other most of the time, he always keeps some kind of distance, remains in his safe space, keeps up this invisible wall that he’s built around him.

He’s not incapable of emotion.

They know Izaya experiences a lot, thinks a lot, feels a lot. He’s very cautious when it comes to deciding which aspects of what is going on inside of him he allows to shine through. There’s always a filter, which mostly lets through the joy and amusement he does genuinely feel.

The “worst” they’ve witnessed him firsthand was annoyance. Anger, at most. Orihara Izaya would bottle the rest up.

Perhaps out of fear of being vulnerable and letting his guard down. Perhaps out of habit, since his job requires him to keep those weak spots secret, unless he wants to be chased down by any enemies. Perhaps out of pride.

Perhaps he doesn’t know himself.

“Hey, Izaya. Are you listening?”

Concern lingers in their voice, their tone soothing as if they were talking to a kicked dog and the fact that they feel like they need to treat him with such care in order to not break him feels like a punch to his twisting guts.

He stares outside the window in an pathetic attempt to have his back face them instead. His fingers wrap around the armrests of his chair, clinging onto the cold hard material as if the grip would bring him back to his usually self.

“Of course I am,” he lies, the sigh accompanied by what is supposed to be his amused way of speaking. However, his throat forbids his vocal chords to let out any chirping sing-sang, let alone a simple chuckle.

His knuckles turn white upon his hardening grip to his chair and he stubbornly eyes his reflection in the glass in front of him. He truly is in a battle with himself at this point, literally staring himself down and mentally screaming at himself.

Though occupied with his thoughts, he hears his s/o walking closer to him. They stop to stand right next to him and for a second they just join him in watching the outside world being as busy as ever. They just gaze through the window in silence, until Izaya finally does manage to chuckle quietly.

“Enough of this, when will (Y/N)-chan finally come up with a snarky remark?”

They turn their attention towards him and their eyes meet the raven’s ruby ones, which stare at them patiently waiting for a pointed finger and ridicule.

For a second, they think about indeed coming up with a lighthearted comment. Something along the lines of ‘You are so lucky I am not like you’, but ultimately, they decide against it and just shake their head.

“I don’t see what’s funny here,” they shrug and before he can react to their statement, they sit down in his lap and wrap their arms around the informant’s figure.

Izaya stops his movements, frozen solid as he feels their fingerpads gently rubbing his scalp while their fingers play with his soft locks. Their other hand is busy drawing invisible circular patterns across his back.

For a second, they wonder if they should offer him to talk, to vent, to cry out all his frustration or worries, but ultimately, they decide against it and just provide him a shoulder to rest on.

They sit in silence and with each second passing, he relaxes more, allowing his head to rest on their shoulder and his arms to snake around their waist. Instead of shaking fingers gripping onto his chair, his digits – still trembling – dig into the fabric of their shirt as he pulls them closer to his body.

First, his eyelids begin to feel heavy. He lets his lids fall across his tired orbs, which provide him only with blurry vision, but a few tears roll down his pale skin nevertheless. His head also starts to sink down like a weight, until his face is buried in the curve of their neck to their shoulder, teardrops staining their collar.

They hear his shaking breath, his faint whimpers and sniffles. They feel his trembling figure in their arms, his weak form resting against and holding onto them for support to lean on. They know his pride is laying in front of him in broken pieces.

“(Y/N)?” Hearing his weak tone muffled by the skin on their neck breaks them. His voice trails off as if unsure of what to say in this situation.

Little does he realize that there are no words needed for him to recover from any embarrassment whatsoever.

“It’s okay...,” the murmur softly as they continue playing with his hair gently. “I’m here for you.”

Right? I’m just unsure LOL my GF said that I should have it tagged as like original or something unless Izaya/Shizuo/literally any drrr character are in it? Since they have their own story line unique from the fandom itself like they could def be their own thing without any reference to drrr? I mean I guess there would be some because the way I write it is like, yeah they exist in the same universe as all the other drrr characters but can independently get by without any meantion of them. Even though I think about other alts like the little lesser known ones, which happens to be like Neko!Izaya and Inuwan!Shizuo/Neko!Shizuo or Ruby and Kurashi? Apparently on the wiki for Izaya there are some “alts” that are listed but not really seen as alts because “it’s still Izaya” and Neko!Izaya is on there but in my brain, Neko!Izaya and Izaya are two completely different characters because of how Nekos are typically seen and I find it hard to believe that Izaya, if he was a Neko, would let himself be kept as a pet cat and not do informant work? I mean there’s one(?) fic that’s like that, where he’s just a cat but it’s kind of in an alt world so 🤔🤔🤔 Neko!Izaya as an alt? Mayhaps.

And really, that’s why I’m like; this is confusing. Since Iza/Zuo are not really meant to be confused for Izaya or Shizuo? I think all the alts typically get like “What no...I’m not Izaya/Shizuo. I’m -inserts name- we just share the same face.” I’ve seen some say the alts are related to Izaya/Shizuo by dna because science made them or that it was Izaya that made all the alts as anroids, so Izaya is like “their master” it’s a whooole like sub category in the fandom I guess.

I think my gf said that too because she’s worried about someone “taking” them, like I am too but I’m just worried about the idea being taken and not the concept of that makes sense? Since Nekos aren’t an original thing at all lol like anyone can have one. It’s just what I’ve got going for them that makes them kind of different I guess. I’m gonna take each of those hammers as individual characters cuz I love talking about my babies and I love the fact you enjoy hearing about them, too.

Okay frst I wanna talk about some characters I’m tweaking for my novel. –Kuro-M1  was originally an OC I made for Bleach. She’s probably my oldest OC considering I made her when I was 12 or 13. Originally, her story was that she was an experiment of Aizen’s before all the Hollow experiments started. She was to be a basic Alarm System/ Guard Dog. But as she grew, she gained more of a personality than he would have liked, causing him to lock away her memories and toss her aside only to find her more usefu-ll during his betrayal at the end of the ‘Save Rukia Arc’. In my novel, she is still an experiment, though is changed from a simple Guard Dog to a Soldier in the Royal Family. She does not have much of a personality other than following orders and protecting the Royal Family. She looks a little different, though her skin is still pale and her hair is still white. She keeps her ears, face markings, and tail, though her eyes are completely emerald(no sclera) with no pupil. This is actually a common trait among the species she originally comes from, though with her Robotic personality, it makes her more eerie. The experiments preformed on her began when she was a very small child, she was an orphan and completely deaf. The experimentation cured her deafness(by giving her new ears) as well as heightened senses and even better balance. She’s a master swordsman in the book.–G4-N   was originally an OC for Yu Yu Hakusho. He’s probably the second newest OC I have. Jordyn could be considered his younger sister in that regard. Originally he hailed from Demon world where his family owned a large warren and he had multiple brothers and sisters and generally had a loving family. Since he was the oldest, he was set to inherit the land and be the head of the family when he came of age, though he was much too cowardly to really ever want that. Unfortunately, his family was attacked by bandits who were after his family’s heirloom: a large, red ruby that was passed down from generation to generation. He had managed to run away from the bandits, however, he was unable to save the rest of his family. He was forever haunted by this, often berating himself for his cowardice. He eventually wanders to the Human world after hearing about the Spirit Detectives. He admires humans and hopes to become as strong as the Detectives one day so he can avenge his family.In the Novel, G4-N is an experiment and a Soldier for the Royal Family. Unlike Kuro-M1, he was experimented on when he was an embryo, giving him no memories of ever being normal. His skin matches his hair color, though it seems to be a little lighter in shade. His eyes, like Kuro-M1′s, are solid blue with no pupil. He is very obedient and only seems to truly listen to his creator. He specializes in Hand to Hand Combat, often using his powerful rabbit legs to do all the hard work. –Chie was originally another Bleach OC of mine. She grew up in poverty but eventually was able to show off her skills enough to be allowed into the Soul Reaper academy, leaving her family behind without a second thought. She was one of my more selfish characters and originally supposed to be a Self-Insert of sorts? But she eventually just grew into her own thing and strayed very far from myself. In the Novel, she grew up the same way, though the place she grew up is called Ruia City. Ruia City itself is a giant cluttered, dirty, slum-like city where people with dreams of fame and fortune go out of the foolishness of their own delusions. Chie’s ancestor had the same hopes only to fall in line with the rest of the population. However, she was born with a very specific type of Magic, one where she can see every single strand of DNA in a person’s cells. Due to this, she can rearrange and splice together all sorts of creations/creatures with a simple flick of her wrist and a pair of tweezers. This paired with her excellent memory and learning abilities caused her to be noticed by the Royal Family, specifically, their eldest son. Because of her creations from before, she leaves her family more with a way to live in somewhat luxury, having plants that grow fruits and vegetables far bigger than commercial crops and appliances that can keep them warm during the cold nights. She is the reason for G4-N’s and Kuro-M1′s existence, as well as the rest of the Royal Army. She does not see any harm in what she does and is even quoted to saying she loves all her creations, even the failures. The Family can agree that her creations hold a strong affection for her as well.–Hanako(unfortunately I do not have a picture of him) was originally a DRRR!! OC. I think he’s my third Oldest OC? I originally had him as female, but I made the decision to change him to Male cuz I don’t know. I think it just fit him better. His parents were murdered by one of the Color Gangs(A whole gang I made up with it’s very own OC Leader but unfortunately I don’t have her documents and I don’t remember much about her so I’m not going to talk about her), causing him to grow up more or less by himself. His only companion is a black cat named Knight who waits for him outside school as well as waits for him to get off work at the Floral shop in town. He is constantly given false leads and often lead into serious danger by Izaya all because he promises Hanako with leads into who killed his parents. One of these incidents left him with deep scars on his back which he covers up with a corset piercing. I do not know if I’ll feature him in the Novel, but if I have to place him somewhere, I would put him in Angelus Sanctum. AnSan is a huge city dedicated to peoples of all religions and backgrounds. This is often the place where people go to celebrate festivals and holidays for their respective religions. Unfortunately, there is an orphaned population in the city, though they are looked after by all sorts of monasteries and churches. Hanako grew up in one of these with a few other of his companions. They would often get into trouble, stealing food and other goods, though would always look after one another no matter what. Hanako was designated the leader of their little group, which while he had a bit of a hesitation to, he eventually accepted. There was an instance where while practicing their magic, a child who had very little control over their abilities caused a huge explosion. Protecting his friends who were too close to the explosion by shielding them, Hanako sustained heavy injuries and eventually scars from the ordeal. He doesn’t seemed bothered by it in the slightest. As he and his group grew into adults, they all eventually decided to just open a brothel together within the city. There are many followings, even ones that worship sex and fertility, so a brothel is not all that out of place. They are kept up to a very high standard, being sanitary and the suitors incredibly clean and healthy. Hanako runs the building and makes sure all of his friends are safe and comfortable, even kicking out and if it’s called for, beating up rude guests. On the side, he prefers to flower arrange rather than partake in sexual acts. The Inn also has a mascot: Knight, the Black Cat. He mainly sits on the front desk, sleeping all day or playing with the curtains in the lobby as well as guests who give him attention. Hanako considers his group his family and will do anything for them.You could probably consider Hanako to be the precursor for Jordyn, though she’s much more outgoing and fun-loving than he is. Hanako is more relaxed and serious than he is playful or even a flirt.–Akiko(again, sorry but I do not have a picture of her) is and always will be a Katekyo Hitman Reborn OC. She is my Second Oldest OC and the first one I actually thought of as well balanced and not a Mary Sue. She has flaws and weaknesses, many of which are brought on by her weapon. She’s bad at certain school subjects like math and English, but excels in other subjects like History and Chemistry. Though because of her clumsiness and lack of proper balance, none of the students at Namimori take her seriously. She finds some companionship with Tsuna, though, even calling him her brother at some point. She is the daughter of two well-known Hitmen, though her mother is more known for running the Nerofiore family which has become corrupt over the past 300 years. Akiko had never been aware of her family’s ties to the Mafia but actually takes it a lot better than Tsuna had with his own revelation. She inherits a weapon called Augurio Di Morte (Death Wish/Wish to Death) which seems like a regular red and silver bracelet until she puts it on. Upon putting it on, she realizes that she cannot take it off, it is latched onto her until she dies. This bracelet can turn into whatever weapon, shield, object she wants it to simply by thinking of the thing she needs at the moment. Unfortunately, her thought process isn’t the speediest, making it more of a hinderance than anything else. Eventually, with the help of Dino(Who’s family created the bracelet), she learns to use it to it’s full potential. And since I was really into animal companions back then, she had a little ferret companion called Akisho while her mother had a Fox companion whom I forget the name of.Now, I originally wrote 100 chapters of her own fanfic which I enjoyed writing a lot. However, I stopped around the finale to the Future Arc and even more unfortunately, my USB recently corrupted and half of my files were lost, including that fanfic. So unfortunately, that will never have it’s conclusion. Akiko was originally going to become the next Boss of the Nerofiore family and even participate in the Arcobaleno War with a few younger family members from the family. I also created a Genderbend of her, but he eventually became his own thing, too. His name is Aiko(I’m so creative I know) and in a lot of plots, he is her older brother who has inherited the Nerofiore family title. He loves his sister with all his might and wishes for nothing but the best for her. Now in his own story, he is one of Hanako’s companions who suggests the brothel idea. He considers Hanako as an older brother and trusts him without hesitation.

I just saw a DMMD post like the DRRR ending and i got the incredible urge to make one for SPN but with like ALL the characters not just the four or five we see all the time but like Bobby, Joe, Ellen, Ruby, Meg or instead of doing one really long on make a different one for like humans demons and angels nah scratch that I want a long one fuck that'll take me forever.
