Recognize the game: saying they want to ban all birth control might make completely banning abortion seem a tad bit less extreme, but the truth is both things are extreme, and make no mistake—conservatives DO want both things; they want forced birth and they want those born into poverty to be ignorant, desperate and compliant.
No affordable, nationalized healthcare.
Protests banned.
Militarized, widely unaccountable police forces.
Book bans.
Erasure of LGBTQ people in schools.
Revisionist history of racism and slavery in schools.
Abortion bans.
Contraception bans.
Forced births.
This is the Republican Party.
And never forget: they did not get here without some help along the way.

Look, I’m not here for all of that Red vs. Blue bullshit, okay? Imma people over party kinda brutha. The Republican Party is irredeemably, thoroughly and completely evil. Anyone with an iota of common sense and a hint of morality knows that, and if they don’t, you aren’t going to convince them to be good people with a sternly worded social media post. So that’s not my priority.
But conservative Democrats are not without blame. Idgaf if you naively believe they’ve “changed” or had an epiphany or something. All I know is, things would not be as bad as they are if leadership in the Democratic Party actually didn’t fucking help Republicans along the way.
Anyway, if voting is your bag, then vote in the primaries and vote for the most progressive, leftist candidate out there. And don’t fall for the neoliberal okie doke of “Vote Blue No Matter Who.” That’s how we end up with conservative Democrats doing everything in their power to get Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court (looking directly at you, Joe Biden).

Please keep in mind all the disabled and chronically ill people this decision is going to kill and harm. All the people who will not be able to end dangerous pregnancies, all the people who will have to choose between going off life saving medications or risking prison for miscarriages caused by said life saving medications. Losing RoeVWade is a major breach to bodily autonomy and disabled people are especially vulnerable right now, so please keep us in mind

It’s amazing how quick the government forgot about this formula shortage we’re having. They’re so busy trying to bring new babies in this world when they can’t even support the ones they have

RE: Roe v Wade repeal. Would you like to help those in red states?
Tumblr media
Please read this article to see if your state is likely to ban abortion within the month: https://people.com/health/see-which-states-will-fully-ban-abortion-within-one-month/
I am so sorry for my American followers. Coming from a country that bans abortions (except for cases where the mother's life is directly threatened), I empathize with you. It is absolutely insane that they repealed RvW, taking away women's rights to bodily autonomy, regressing the country back decades.
I would like to use my platform to connect people from blue states and red states! Since most tumblr uses are already anonymous, I thought it would be appropriate to do this. If you are from a blue state that will be least likely to ban and wish to help those in red states, please comment below this post!
IMPORTANT: It is important to understand that by commenting or reposting, you would be exposed and at risk to being doxxed or harassed. I can't promise you that anyone reading this will be pro-choice. Some people may be pro forced birth. So please, understand the risks because if you are exposed either seeking help or offering help, you might be open to being investigated by the authorities. Please take appropriate precautions. I am merely trying to connect people.
If you would like to donate instead, click here to check out a list of funds.
If you are unable to help directly by commenting or donating, a simple repost with the appropriate tags will help reach a larger audience.
As always, please stay safe!
DISCLAIMER: I will not be responsible if you were to face legal actions. I am merely trying to help connect people by using my platform with a relatively large following.

I recorded this song a companion to my fic "Bright is the ring of words", written for the wonderful @bahbahhh for the @zelinkcommunity Loftwing Letters event!
Song: VIII. Bright is the ring of words, from Ralph Vaughan Williams "Songs of Travel"
(Which, IMO is a very BOTW Link set of songs and I recommend giving them a listen!)

My applique piece in response to the overturn of Roe vs. Wade.  Art Notes/Thoughts:
- I was listening to “The Rite of Spring” a LOT while working on this. Both because I grew up watching Disney’s “Fantasia” (1940), and thus I’ve had Rite of Spring mentally linked to volcanoes since I was little....it’s almost impossible for me to think of one without the other. But it also felt pertinent, since the ballet (for those unfamiliar with it) is about the ritual human sacrifice of a maiden. - In a related vein, I’ve been fortunate enough to get to travel to Hawai’i many times over the course of my life, and so I’m familiar with the stories of Pele, Hawai’i’s goddess of volcanos. I love the idea of a creator goddess (note, not “fertility”) who gives rise to new life, who creates the land that will nurture humans, plants, and animals, completely on her own terms, and by drawing liquid fire up through the earth and making it rain down from the sky. It’s a stark contrast compared to other common depictions of maternity/feminity (such as the angelic serenity of the Virgin Mary, or the birds-and-flowers motifs of various fertility goddesses), it feels like a reflection of how brutal and violent childbirth can be for many women, even when it’s wanted.
-I think I first thought of a volcano because of the anger I felt. I know I’m far from the only one who feels furious and devastated at the overturn of Roe vs. Wade and the raw misogyny behind it, but this anger felt different than anger I’ve felt at other things in the past. The two words that came to mind were “deep” and “tectonic”. Something fundamental has shifted in me, as I’m sure it has for many others here in the U.S. And that tectonic, deep, angry shift, has a lot of power beneath it, ready to be let loose.  - a volcano is created slowly, layer after layer, eruption after eruption, and so is humanity, birth after birth, generation after generation. The act of procreation is a force of nature, as much as a volcanic eruption, and while both are necessary for the propagation of life (volcanic soil being the most fertile on earth), that does not mean there is not a cost for those close to the event. Every human being alive today, and who has ever lived, is here because someone with a uterus took on all of the risks, hardships, and pitfalls of growing a new person inside of them. Sometimes willingly, sometimes not. And far too many did not survive the attempt. When I see the rejoicing and back-patting now, from conservatives who have helped to strip women of the hard-won right to choose whether or not to take on that risk, to force women to make those sacrifices and punish them when they refuse, I feel like they are dancing on the graves of everyone who lost their life in the quest to continue humanity.
- I was wrestling for quite a while for what I exactly wanted to do for the flag. I considered solid black (to tie in with the dancing figures while still getting the point across), solid red (same as black, but a bit bloodier with GOP implications), something with a Republican symbol on it (to call them out directly), or the US flag. At first I was worried that this flag might detract from the piece...everything else feels vibrant, and organic, and real to me, and when I first lay the printed flag on the piece, it felt stiff, and fake, and pathetic, compared to what it was trying to “claim”. But then I decided that was perfect for what I was trying to do. I feel like it emphasizes the sheer repulsive vulgarity of the state trying to lay claim to female genitalia and reproductive organs (as well as making it very clear what I’m referencing) Anyways, I hope this piece can bring some catharsis to others out there who have been struggling with this verdict as I have, and let you know you’re not alone, and that the fight isn’t over.

Ay, Millienials and Gen Z, whatever generation is out there now, you want them to be better? Start by listening to kids.
You want a better future? An actual one? They're it. They're the last line of humanity to live in this era.
Listen. To. Kids. Just because they're too inexperienced to formulate their words distinctly and appropriately, doesn't mean they aren't utterly terrified and utterly utterly utterly alone.
Boomers showed us EXACTLY what to avoid when the village raises a child. You want to know why the republican MAGA train took off? Because we've never known a sense of community. Most of us can count the number of friends in their entire life on one hand. Disenfranchised youths get pulled into this bullshit because they fell through the widening cracks.
Right now, kids are being forced into slavery just to keep minimum wage down. For a fact this was done to inspire another boomer/GenZ divide, given the fact min wage is unlivable but meant to be. 3.85 vs 7.25, you know who's getting hired to keep wages low. In an era of Unprecedented Wealth Gaps and Record Profits.
Right now, kids are being forced to give birth and die due to rapists being empowered by republicans. They can't explore themselves sexually growing up, let alone ask Very Necessary Birds and Bees shit their dipshit parents never taught them, you want to know why most men can't find the fucking clit? No friends, terrified of sex, no social skills, no one to ask for help without ridicule.
Right now, kids are being seperated from their parents for not conforming to a christian white format of living. Bounty hunters are after their moms. If not republicans.
Right now, Kids can't trust teachers, police, doctors, no one. They're not safe at school, they're not safe outside, they're not safe inside. And having a gun doesn't in anyway reduce the chances of them being shot, it has CONSISTENTLY been shown to only raise child gun related deaths.
Right now, more than our generation, kids are Fucking Terrified. Rightfully, and that's fucking Mortifying. These kids don't get to fear the shadows in the hallways at night, they have to actually be scared someone is in that hallway. That a police officer raided the wrong fucking house again. That a white supremecist saw a facebook post by their parents.
Right now: KIDS ARE ALONE, COMPLETELY ALONE.
Republicans WANT to stir up a culture of pedophilic fears,
fears they made actually happen themselves,
They WANT adults to abandon children in a world of cruelty. They WANT you to be scared to even be around a child. They NEED that disconnect, that severance between generations, it's another culture war as always.
So, please. Patience. Listen. Fucking Be There for them. Because Boomers weren't for us, emotionally, physically, fiscally, they pulled that ladder so fucking hard on us before we were even adults.
Don't be scared of children. They're more scared in general than you are of them.

Waking up to the possibility of RVW being overturned in my country has been an emotionally devastating event. I have endured two abortions in my life, of which the emotional scars have landed in some of my music as Temperance Of Sleep. Watching women's rights, which we haven't even had for very long, slip down the drain is both terrifying and infuriating. I hesitantly read about the situation as the fibrocystic lump in my breast aches like it's on fire. I just called to schedule another mammogram, which can't be done for another month and a half. The lack of access to comprehensive women's health is alarming, and it's only going to get worse if they really do overturn RVW. In the midst of my tears my copy of the Women Of Noise zine has arrived, a sort of poetic irony. A ray of light in a very dark moment. Being a female musician means so much to me, it is a core tenant to my identity and I am so honored and grateful to be part of a community which uplifts and highlights women in music - because let's face it, women are erased and put down in every aspect of life. To be shoved down over and over again yet somehow find the strength to get back up is awe inspiring. I am so inspired and moved by all the artists featured in this zine and on the Ukranian benefit compilation album, and feel incredibly grateful to be included in both. This moment in time reminds me of how much is at stake for women, and how much there is to fight for. Thank you @womenofnoise for all your support and all the hard work you put into this community. I feel like my screams are finally being heard, but there's still so much more to fight for. My heart is with everyone affected by the possibility of this overturn, let's use this as an opportunity to speak up and come together. They will never drown out our noise. ❤️

Hey. Hey you.
If you've been doomscrolling, this is your reminder to step away, drink some water, and do something calming. It's okay to be scared, but reading everyone's panic will not help you right now. Take a break, cool off, and let things calm down a little so you can research your rights later. Okay? Breathe.

anyone else think that the SCOTUS (particularly the male justices) need to have a medically unnecessary internal ultrasound done on them, just for shits and giggles
I’m sure we can find a place to stick the wand.

No one wants to hear this but if the left had not successfully campaigned against Hillary in 2016, we wouldn’t be talking about The Supreme Court & abortion right now.
