⌜Guardian Fun Facts⌟

@charleecat-bat Figured I’d spread the love of that sweet sweet headcanon lore to boost your spirits ^^ so here’s some fun little tidbits of the boys. 

Fun facts about some of  the Brotherhood of Guardians: 

Locke:  

Big history and archeology nerd and will give you a whole TedTalk if you ask him the simplest of questions about it, he’s just passionate and doesn’t know when to stop yapping about it. 

Because of his passion for ancient echidna history he’s gotten really into crafting, mostly making his own clothing and leather working, inspired by the old echidna tribes along with his own flair. 

Has a sad boy playlist he listens to in his private time to be in his feelings (Coldplay just resonates with him) Generally his music tastes are rather… basic, some would say, but he doesn’t mind. 

Has a secret love affair with another noble man but shhh… homie is just hungry for affection tbh.

Sabre:

Growing up in the Lost Tribe often leaves him feeling like a fish out of water even after years of living on Island, tending to have more naturalistic habits and preferences.

Has a more specialized diet for his health and also personal taste, will gravitate more to organic foods and will rarely eat meat unless fresh. Generally dislikes overly processed foods.

Is generally more open minded in comparison to his peers, open to trying new experiences even if it’s something his family would not favor. Has even gotten a tattoo somewhere he keeps hidden. 

He has a big love for music especially fond of psychedelic rock and reggae, often times he’s playing music in his quarters as his main form of entertainment. 

Athair:

Even though he’s not a Guardian and lives with the Lost Tribe he still manages to visit either through astral projection or in person (although the ladder being more rare) will often come on a random day completely unannounced (to his family’s and mostly his son’s dismay lol).

He’s incredibly openminded and willing to try anything at least once, loving to experience new things and learn things kinesthetically.

No stranger to physical touch and affection, will always greet anyone with a tight hug and peck on the cheek, also has no concept of ‘personal space’.

Janelle-Li:

She’s a high energy girlie, never skipping a beat she loves to stay active wether in her work or in her personal life, always chasing the ‘what’s next’.

She’s incredibly charismatic and one of the most successful Guardians because of it. She had no trouble making friends and even having difficult conversations with a cool sense of diplomacy.

Out of all the suiters that came her way she had no interest in them, instead falling in love with some dork she ran into by chance, while he thought he was way out of her league she was infatuated with him and would be the one pursuing him romantically, eventually asking him for his hand in marriage. 

Has a bit of a secret sweet tooth, something that she bonds with her great grandfather over. The two often having secret late night sweet runs to get ice cream or some other sweet treat available. 

Thunderhawk:

Big family man, has a big love for his family above anything else, making it a personal responsibility to take care of his family’s physical and mental wellbeing. Has a big heart in general and loves to care for others.

LOVES disco music, keeps a good playlist of 80’s pop and disco jams that he listens to while working or cooking, can’t help but break into a little dance or sing along especially while cooking.

He likes to cook for others and is usually the one to cook on base. He believes that cooking is a great way to bring people together and elevate spirits.

He has a more effeminate demeanor to him, and while he’s generally gentle natured, his Guardian training makes him a force to be reckoned with to anyone that undermines his kindness for weakness. 

Sojourner:

Don’t let him cook. EVER. Can’t cook for shit and does not have a refined pallet, he’s perfectly comfortable eating some processed garbage or even MREs. Is also known to l also peel the crust off his sandwich bread, and have a glass of milk with any meal. 

Although he sucks at cooking he really enjoys grilling meat and is the one thing he can do exceptionally well since it’s his favorite thing to eat. Will throw down on the BBQ just don’t ask him to make any sides lol. 

Is the ONLY person that can get away with joking or pranking his father and is 100% comfortable doing it, while he might get some consequences, it doesn’t deter him from poking at his father to try to get a reaction from him. 

While he’s not one for physical or even romantic affection he’ll get incredibly cuddly in his sleep and is known to be more clingy and affectionate when intoxicated (he will never admit it though lol) 

Spectre:

Has a BIG sweet tooth, tries to keep it a secret but sometimes he can’t help himself to any treats he finds (he may have sabotaged a family gathering or two by eating the dessert early).

Even though he’s not great at displaying his emotions he loves his family immensely and will always try to be there to support and do right by them. Often expressing his affection physically rather than verbally.

Relatively open-minded and not one to be judgmental of others, if it’s not hurting anyone or themselves he couldn’t care less what others do in their personal life, especially including his family.

While he’s not much of a talker he’s a great listener, will actively listen and take in what other’s are saying and help provide insight if needed but is also just happy to just be an open ear.

Secretly plays the piano in his spare time and is rather good at it, he would especially play for his mother and wife all the time they would ask. 

Because he’s so big in stature he tends to make his own garments to fit his own aesthetic, learning to sew from his mother. He would also learn metal working in order to make his own helmets.

Hope you enjoy my little brain dump on these guys, they’re always running through my head and it’s always the fun little tidbits that are the most fun to think about. ^^

Random Archie Sonic Character Headcanons. Pt. 1 Too Many Echidnas.

It's my birthday, so I thought I'd push the Ray headcanons to the side and focus on all the forgotten goobers of the Archie Comics left behind. Let's start with all those echidnas... Spectre the Echidna: The reluctant caretaker of Charmy, Saffron and Ray. Tends to talk with actions and not words. Surprisingly, more progressive than he looks as he accepted Julie-su's pleas for refuge after she defected despite his overwhelming hatred for the DL and allowed the Chaotix to set up base in Haven after many difficulties trying to find a place to stay without paying large amounts of rent.

Sojourner the Echidna: Excellent swimmer if he wasn't a guardian, he'd be an Olympian. Used to co-own a gym with another friend before he had to sell his stake and join the Brotherhood. Can be a racist stick in the mud, and is in agreement with Locke that Knuckles' friends and GF are a bad influence. Vector and him are swimming rivals.

Thunderhawk the Echidna: He is the weedman. Bro smokes weed and grows a lot of it and sells it to be made into medicine, much to the utter frustration of the other members. Gets on well with pretty much everyone except for Locke. He hasn't fully forgiven him for what he's done to Knuckles (and Lara-Le) when he was a wee babby and onwards. Regularly talks to the Sommersby's and asks about Elias often. Looks after the 'junior recruits' Benjy the Kangaroo and Trixie Bee (Charmy's sister). The least racist member of the Brotherhood by far.

Sabre the Echidna: Archivist and preserver of all knowledge of Angel Island. Tends to have his muzzle in a book or jabbering to everyone about manners and decorum. While very good at giving advice, he also can drone on for a bit too long. Somewhat racist as he unknowingly peppers everything with microaggressions to the annoyance of the non insect and non echidna people who interact with him.

Locke the Echidna: Incredibly strong, his fighting ability is second to none, to the point people like Shadow are wary around him. He's also a massive control freak, jeopardising many people's health and safety in the process, including his ex-wife and son in genetic experiments. He loathes Knuckles' friends and believes them to be leeches, even going so far to trust Dr Finitevus over the concerns of Vector and Espio due to his unchecked ego. Incredibly racist that even the other members of the Brotherhood have to tell him to reign it in when he suggests permanently booting every non echidna off the island by force. Despite his massive, massive flaws, he does truly care about his family and echidna kind. Time will tell if he can extend that to everyone else...

Jenna-Lu the Echidna: After one too many of her son's escapades nearly got her Grandson in trouble, Jenna became a 'watcher' over the Brotherhood. Fed up with her estranged husband's inability to get the elders to reign Locke in, she, Lara-Le, Wynmacher and a couple of others hired the Chaotix to find a way to stop Locke spying on everyone everywhere. The High Council would later appoint her and former EST chief inspector Holmes as official Brotherhood watchers to keep an eye on everyone there.

Knuckles: While being a loner at heart, Knuckles tends to attract oddballs like a magnet. He met Espio, Vector, Charmy and Mighty in a theme park. Ray during a riot in a wrestling show, Charmy's sister, butler and best friend during a siege and Julie-su while being held hostage (the last one being he fell for the very old 'what's that over there' trick) which got him held hostage after he captured Julie-su first. Knuckles seems to have inherited his father's ego but unlike his dad, reality tends to enjoy keeping Knuckles' in check but having his team blunder when ever he brags that they are the best. The most infamous example was Knuckles telling Sonic that his team was far better than the FF, only for Knuckles to witness Ray electrocuting himself by poking a live wire with a metal fork while Charmy watched on, chanting 'do it!'.

"Okay. First of all, I must ask...is it normal for the people in your universe to be just NAKED?! Don't you ever get cold? or uncomfortable? or even get scuffed up at all?! And those gloves... Knuckles, honey, how can you pick up anything with those? Those don't seem at all practical. The shoes are...fine. I don't understand them but MY Knuckles wears the same so I suppose I can't complain too much... 4 out of 10... I can't bring myself to go any lower for some version of my grandson, even if he's not mine "

"Well, you're still without pants, but at least you have something covering your top half. Albeit something UTTERLY plain. Everything about your ensemble is PLAIN! I can feel myself YAWNING the more I look at you! Without the boots and those dysfunctional gloves, I would've thought you stepped out of a shower! Spruce it up a little! 5 out 10"

"...(sigh) Okay, I see that pantlessness is going to be a norm. Lets see what else here. Yet again, a plain and and questionable fit. A tunic? just cause your an older man doesn't mean you need to look ancient! And those IMPRACTICAL GLOVES! Are those ALSO A NORM IN THIS FAMILY!?! Not sure how you can type on that keypad there without your FINGERS! (huffs)... I'm not sure if the monocle is simply for aesthetic or has a function specifically but it at least draws people to your face. That's something... 5 and a half out of 10"

"...Hon... it's giving roadkill. HOW can that be comfortable? That looks so bug infested and scratchy that it makes ME feel like ltching! And those beads... Those shoes, I'd recommend sandals over those if you REALLY want your toes out. Those are gonna slip off SO easily! Eugh, those beads, it looks like you got a bunch of candy on your spines! A kids gonna come and chew on 'em at any second. AND WHAT'S WITH THE MARACAS AROUND YOUR NECK?! 2 outta 10 this fit is a mess. I get wanting to be eccentric but this AIN'T IT"

"Girlie... why the bathrobe and slippers? It's giving GRANDMA not GUARDIAN. Surely as a Guardian, that CANNOT be practical on the job. I can't imagine even ME being able to do my work in a bathrobe. And I can do it in heels! Unless you're working from home, you need a change, sweetie... but other then that. It's fine. 6 out of 10".

"Boy, you better be grateful I don't have any scissors right now BECAUSE I'D BE ON YOUR ASS TRIMMING THAT BIRDS NEST. WHAT IS THAT? IT LITERALLY LOOKS A BUNCH OF WEEDS IN A GARDEN. THIS ENTIRE LOOK JUST... GAG. These colours do NOT go together at ALL! And it hurts my eyes more cause your purple fur could be SO GOOD! And don't even get me started on those SHOULDER PADS- 2 AND HALF OUT OF 10!!"

"Oh CHAOS-talk about leaving NOTHING to the imagination! Somehow this upsets me more than Knuckles! Adding a boring vest doesn't make this an entire outfit, but I think what makes me more mad is. THAT. WHAT IS THAT ON YOUR HEAD. IS THAT YOUR HARDDRIVE? A SCANNER FOR YOUR HEAD? WILL IT BEEP IF I TRY AND SCAN SOMETHING ON IT- (lowkey wanna try that now-) AND HOW IS THAT EVEN STAYING UP THERE?! This whole outfit boggles me and leaves me upset. 2 out of 10"

"Hm... While I'm not sure WHAT you're going for, at least you're sticking to your aesthetic. I dig it. AND your fully clothed. Good. I'm unsure about that helmet but if your not uncomfortable then go for it. Not the most practical but you seem to make it work. 8 outta 10"

"Oh the hat's a nice touch! I always like a nice hat. The green isn't a bad choice colour wise. But the rest of the outfit I feel could be improved... especially the giant T on the top. I can't quite take that seriously, just makes me think of kids in an old sitcom or cartoon. BUT it's not bad. 6 out of 10".

"Ah. I see where the hat came from now... but hat can't save you from that bizarre piece, what even is that? a vest strap on? A harness?? and AGAIN WITH THE INITIAL ON THE CLOTHES?? If you at least wore assless-chaps it wouldn't be such a shocker with your cowboy looking ass. Dear lord. 3 out of 10"

Far from perfect but this is still much better than many others... but WHAT is that on your head... that looks like something people use to look at gemstones. Thought you were supposed to be a scientist...".

Oh look! The redesign I delayed by 3 years due to unreasonably high standards!

I promise Tumblr washed this out. So disrespectful!

But yeah! I combed every issue I had to scrounge up some form of character. The wiki was absolutely no help so I just had to run with any plausible concepts.

Here is the base version. I think I might do Sojourner next since he will undoubtedly be the toughest to redesign.

Good question! You know how birds are the only dinosaurs who survive, but once upon a time there were many different kinds of dinosaurs, some of which were a lot like birds and others not so much? Well, therapsids are like that for mammals. They're a diverse and very interesting group of animals that mammals are the only surviving members of. Therapsids are the ancestors that mammals get traits like fur, milk, warm-bloodedness, multiple types of teeth, cheek muscles, whiskers, and our funky jaw joint and inner ear bones from. All these traits that we now associate with mammals developed separately in the therapsid family tree, mostly during the Permian period, when therapsids were very diverse and were some of the largest animals on the planet.

As for how these beasts would have looked like in the flesh, well, that's a very interesting question and one I recently did a paleoart about that coincidentally features members of the same three therapsid groups in the photos above:

So the dicynodont in the background matches the topmost skeleton and is the least related to us of these therapsids. They were chunky, stout herbivores with a tough beak, and judging by skin imprints didn't have fur, but were covered in bare skin like a hippo, pig, or human. One species of them, Lystrosaurus, is famous for surviving the Great Dying, the mass extinction at the end of the Permian, and being the most common animal on Earth for a while. The group as a whole continued on after that and survived all the way to the end of the Triassic.

Then we get the gorgonopsids, the big skull in the middle, which are the stars of this paleoart. They were large carnivores, the first animals to ever evolve sabre-teeth, and would have been the top predators of the late Permian. They're more closely related to the ancestors of mammals than the dicynodonts, and were likely highly active, warm-blooded animals. I depicted them with fur, which is speculative but possible.

Finally, cynodonts! That's the third therapsid skeleton, and in my art there's one hidden in its burrow, hissing at a gorgonopsid cub. This is the specific therapsid group that mammals ended up evolving from, and they were generally pretty small creatures. Some of them ate meat, some plants, and most of them probably just took whatever they could get. They very likely were furry and bewhiskered, and some show signs of being nocturnal animals. They may have produced milk from sweat glands like the platypus and echidna still do. Small furry friends. They ended up surviving by far the longest of all the therapsid groups, and in fact mammals are a specific group of cynodonts that evolved in the late Triassic and early Jurassic.

Another Night for a Curse

Chikki flies around Haven looking for their next victim of their mischief, and It wasn’t long until they spotted the purple echidna, their new target. With a mischievous grin they swoop down in front of Thunderhawk on his desk, startling him with their sudden appearance. 

“Ah! Oh… geez.. you startled me Chikki…” Thunderhawk exclaims catching a breath.

Chikki: “Hey it’s not my fault you have anxiety” they respond snarkly.

Thunderhawk: “You don’t make it any better you know…” 

Chikki: “I don’t, I really don’t, in fact I take great pleasure in it” it grins playfully.

Thunderhawk: “I’ve noticed…” he sighs “Anyways… is there a reason that you’ve come to bother me in particular or are you feeding your sadistic tendencies?”

Chikki: “Yes!” The bird beams 

Thunderhawk crosses his arms in front of him raising a brow at the bird. “Look… I don’t want-“

Chikki: “Oh its nothing crazy I just need help with a little something something and though you might be able to assist with your… expertise.”

Without another word the bird chucks a glowing purple stone from its beak, presenting it to Thunderhawk in pristine condition. The bird’s ‘internal storage system’ was still rather uncanny to the echidna, who gave them a look. 

Chikki: “I got this gem from Apotos a while back and every once in a while it glows.. I figured you’re all about um glowing energy gemstones and whatnots so maybe you could find out why it does that. You know… for science!”

Thunderhawk: “Oookay? But why me out of all us? I’m sure Locke could be better at this considering he has a passion for artifacts and energies” Chikki: “Yeah well Locke sucks and I don’t want to hear him yap any more than I already have to … and besides the council has spoken, It must be you …” The bird stares blankly at Thunderhawk almost ominously Thunderhawk: Raises a brow at the strange bird “Thaaat’s not reassuring… in the slightest... I don’t think- ”

Chikki: “Aaaww come on pweeeeaaase Tio Thundy~ Its a purple stone, you’re purple, its like meant to be or some shit pweaasee just take one look at it” They gave the echidna the biggest set of puppy dog eyes their birdie eyes could muster, as they place the gemstone in his hand. Thunderhawk gives a sigh looking at Chikki, he looks at the stone and back at the bird unsure but still gives Chikki a gentle smile. It was rather rare that it ever wanted anything to do with the Guardians besides the occasional ‘joke’, while Thunderhawk was unsure of their motives he figured this was at least some sort of progress in their strange relationship. “Alright, I’ll take a look at it for ya-” Chikki: “GREAT!” The bird sprung up excitedly, taking flight. “I just know you’ll do great! I notice it does the glowwy thing at night but that could just be because it’s like dark or whatever, anyways you figure it out. I got old men to bully hehe”

With that the bird phased through the nearest wall, disappearing immediately not leaving room for Thunderhawk to rebuttal or even enquire more about the gem. Left alone with his thoughts he examines the gem in his hand, it was a deep purple and it indeed was producing a soft purple blue glow. Since he wasn’t given much of a time limit on Chikki’s request Thunderhawk decided to leave it to be the last task of the day, besides it would allow him to see if the bird’s claim of the gem behaving differently in the night had any truth to it.

⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ As the day came to an end Thunderhawk was just left with his final task of the day. He headed into the base’s research lab, taking the gem he runs some cautionary diagnostics ensuring it wasn’t hazardous or radioactive. While nothing seemed to be flagging the gem as dangerous there was something strange occurring to it. The purple stone had began to glow brighter in the night as the bird had mention. The energy that emanated from it wasn’t anything like the chaos energy he was used to, had an odd feeling to it. In an attempt to gain a bit more insight on the stone the echidna attempted to attune to its energy. He sat at his work desk, his hands cupping the gem, his eyes closed as he focuses on the stone’s energy. 

The energy felt strange, cold, and a bit discomforting it started to give Thunderhawk chills, he broke away from the gem regaining his focus. It was getting late, and at this point the purple echidna had more questions than he had answers, with a yawn he gets up from the desk deciding to call it a night. As he begins to put stuff away he reaches over to the gem to move it, the moment he touches it he feels a jolt of energy crawl up his hand. Instinctually dropping the stone, he grabs at his arm as a strange warm feeling crawls through it and eventually through his entire body, the fact that it was such an unknown feeling and it was spreading fast was making the echidna grow anxious and begin to panic.

What made it worst was the incredible amount of pain that followed, everything hurt from his claws to his teeth, down to his legs. The panic made everything seem like a blur for Thunderhawk as his body began to morph and change, he grew larger, growing more wolf-life features, and becoming significantly hairier than he usually is. His body falls to the floor as be becomes more comfortable walking on all fours, the panicked adrenaline making it hard to focus or even thing rationally.

◯ ☽ ◑ ● ◐ ❨ ◯ Sabre was on his way to head to his quarters for the night, passing by the research lab he was surprised to see the lights were on as it was in use.  He remembered that his grandfather Thunderhawk had told him he had some sort of project for the cursed bird, but even at these hours it was rather late for his grandfather to be tinkering with anything unless important. With curiosity taking the best of Sabre he makes his way into the research lab, while initially everything seemed  ordinary but rather quiet soon became rather concerning. Some equipment had been thrashed about, and some of the furniture and walls had some catastrophic damage by what appeared to be some nasty claw marks, the silence was also replaced by a deep rumbling of a growl that filled the room. Becoming increasingly more worried for his grandfather his instincts kicked in, keeping a low profile he hides behind large pieces of equipment and destroyed furniture to survey the area for potential threats or any sign of his grandfather. Eventually spotting a large purple form of some sort of beast, he’d keep sneaking about  the area inching closer to it to get a better look. It wasn’t until he was right behind it that he found the beast’s strange hair to be rather familiar, almost reminiscent of his grandfather’s. Then it came it him, he had seen something like this before with Spectre a while back, and his suspicion would be proven right when he noticed the crest on it’s chest. That beast was his grandfather. Sabre couldn’t help to feel bad for him, considering what they had been through in with their grandfather it didn’t seem like a pleasant experience, but if Spectre was still in that beast Thunderhawk would be in there too and he needed to reach him to help him. With a deep breath he slowly reveals himself from his cover, cautiously approaching the beast. “Grandfather…” Sabre calls to him in a low voice. The moment the beast’s ears perk at the sudden appearance he grows defensive, instinctually lunging forward at the brown echidna teeth bared. He was too fast for Sabre to react, getting the wind knocked out of him as he hit the floor, screaming out in pain at feeling something puncture his arm. 

To Sabre’s disbelief the feeling was short lived as he felt a big weight being lifted off him, the moment he’d let out a scream the beast had moved off him stopping the attack all together.

 Sabre immediately got up and held his bleeding arm, it appeared he got bitten but just ever so slightly as he could assess the wounds were not deep. A loud whine filled the air as the beast’s demeanor shifted from aggression to pure distress, he paced around the room frantically looking for something. Eventually finding the first aid kit that was affixed to the wall, ripping it off through sheer force, taking it with his jaws he brings it to Sabre dropping it in front of him. He continues to whine as he begins to paw at it, wanting to open it, wanting to clearly help but being unable to. Sabre was left mesmerized by the beast’s behavior, it was his grandfather alright, as strange as it was, it was at least comforting to know that he was still himself. 

“It’s ok..it’s ok… It was an accident I know you din’t mean it. I’m alright, I can take care of it.” Sabre speaks to Thunderhawk reassuring him, using his chaos force he levitates some medical supplies to give first aid to his arm. “Thank you for the help.” He gives his grandfather as smile. Thunderhawk begins to calm himself, still feeling rather guilty, he lays close to his grandson protectively.

BOG Rebooted: The Living Guardians PT. 2

Athair- -From a young age displayed powers over chaos energy that challenged even Spectres. He struggled to control them until he had to be given instructions by Spectre… when he’d listen. He’d also read on Hadar and Mathias’ notes and try to follow them to gain control of his abilities. -Is a heavy believer in fate having a set course for those, and prefers to not fight it. -Was very close with his mother, she was his hero and still is… he misses her a lot. He worries if he disappointed her. -During his youth when he had started training. Something had changed (i’m not sure what caused these events just yet) but whatever the case, the end result was the same. He believed he and was meant for something else and told his family he cannot be the next guardian and needs to be the guide of a lost tribe of echidnas, to protect them. While the rest of the family did not understand and found the idea of abandoning the island and breaking the cycle ridiculous (especially at the idea that he was repeating Mathias’ actions almost) Janelle did not fight this and let him go. Bidding him farewell and goodluck. -Meditates a lot and frequently gets visions. He will visit his family unprompted if his visions involve them somehow, even if he’s met with animosity. He doesn’t care and will try to speak his message. -Heavily cares about nature and creatures around him, thinks all life is precious and should be protected. Especially those that require that extra help. -While he understood why his family was angry at his choices, he believes they all are well enough to care for the island. He feels this clan needs help too and if he was chosen, he would take it seriously. -Speaks cryptically and in riddles, whether he does this to mess with people or this is just his way of doing it it’s not known. -He does like teaching people lessons, even if his methods are complicated and frustrating but they are effective. He doesn’t like handing people the answers easily, he wants them to figure them out for themselves. -Astral projects frequently, if he can visit his family physically, he’ll do so this way… he’s still met with frustration this way. -A lot of his neglect over the guardian was not out of malice, he purely believed that whatever issues they might have they can handle. The tribe in his mind was a priority and needed him more. -It was this mindset that kept him from seeing his mother and stepping up when she was dying. It hurt him but he made up his mind. -He was saddened by Sabre’s reaction but did not try to stop him from leaving. It was his son’s choice after all. He still does try to speak to him but Sabre refuses to. -Due to the lack of physical training, he is the least fit of the guardians but that doesn’t mean he’s helpless. Heavily relies on avoiding attacks and using his chaos energy in fights, usually prefers to stay away from danger to protect the tribe. -Likes percussive instruments and knows how to play a lot of them. Likes even tapping his fingers, feet or cane. -Has nature themed nicknames for everyone in his family. Even though this annoys everyone. -He does miss his family and loves them but he keeps to his oath about protecting the tribe. -All the beads he wears on his spine has a specific meaning according to him, whether they represent a moment/memory, a person, etc. 

Sabre- -Is smaller and a bit scrawnier than most of the other guardians (he isn’t tiny just below average). Because of this his fighting style revolves around being faster, sneakier and smarter with strikes. His combat focuses heavily on pressure points and observing weak spots of his opponents. -Has an issue with his left eye. Either partial blindness or lazy eye, so wears the monocle to help his vision. -Grew up off island, thanks to his father. -Was always much more reserved compared to his father. -Had not actually been told much of the family guardian line, only small amounts. Sabre was frustrated when it was suddenly put upon them with a message that Janelle was dying and was asking for him to come and try to take over in her place. Athair said to him he meant to tell him more when he was older, but Sabre thought of this as an excuse. -Got taught how to live rurally and in nature, such as farming, gardening, hunting and sneaking around nature to avoid predators and observe animals without disturbing them. -He was a young teenager. When Athair and he were told of what was happening to his mother, he expected his father to step up and go see his mother… he did not. Choosing his duty over the tribe he chose to protect and guide. He was disgusted by this and lost respect for his father for seemingly abandoning his family and the responsibility. -As much as he didn’t want to leave his home, chose to be responsible and returned to Angel Island… despite this choice, it was NOT an easy adjustment for him. He was with people he barely knew, without his father or anyone he knew for support, in a new place that was overwhelming and strange to him. -He hated the Guardian training and the idea of the guardian work, due to not being introduced to it much by his father, he found it overwhelming and unappealing but he sucked it up because he knew his father wouldn’t step up. This led him to be very unhappy and stressed. -He didn’t get to know Janelle for long but even as she was dying, she made a great impression on him. He mourned her death greatly and felt angrier at his father for not being here with her seemingly and not even telling much about her. -HAD A VERY BAD TROUBLEMAKER PHASE WHEN HE FIRST CAME INTO THE ISLAND. A bad combination of not knowing the ‘common’ rules of modern society as well as feeling angry at his circumstances, he did a lot of crime. Stealing, breaking into places, damaging property. He got this straightened out and he looks back at this behaviour with great shame. Does not like it when his family tries to bring it up, especially as a joke. Gets genuinely upset and angry at this. Do not bring it up. -Combining his skills from his young tribal days and his teenhood troublemaking times, he became an excellent spy. He would be asked to infiltrate and sneak into areas by his family. -As an adult, he prefers to try and use his words and mediate instead of getting into fights and battles. -Very articulated and well-spoken as a result. It also helps that he grew up with his fathers habit of telling riddles and grew an interest in poetry from this. He’s a wordy boy. -He will debate you, if you start a debate with him he won’t back down and he is GOOD. -is a nature lover, frequently goes on hikes and walks in nature, even camping when he’s overwhelmed and stressed. It always calms him. His love of plant life made him and his wife very close. -plays a wooden flute, only when he’s alone however. -Struggles with chaos energy, is embarrassed by this. He has tried to practice in privacy but he can only manage a few basic skills… -Has depression, it’s not diagnosed but it’s clinical. -Has a bad, almost hilarious habit of sneaking up on his family. He can walk quietly. So he can appear or disappear out of nowhere. This startles many people except for Spectre. 

Locke- -Has narcissistic tendencies. He didn’t realise much of his mindset was toxic but…it was. His biggest problem was his lack of empathy and lack of understanding of peoples emotions, boundaries, social cues… and just people in general. -Views his work, his family and even himself as highly important, he feels the same for Knuckles too. -Despite putting a lot of his own opinions and feelings first, he still very much wants the approval and love of others, especially his family. It’s a complicated thing for this man. He’s a mess. -Focused way too heavily on his work, all thinking it was for the greater good, neglecting knuckles and his ex-wife in the meantime and he didn’t understand why. -A massive history buff, had a fascination and deep respect for echidna history, and was the main reason Knuckles got an interest in archeology and studying ancient artefacts. -He did have an interest and skill in science and even in tech, but the latter he knows makes his forefathers… nervous. He makes sure to avoid robotics for the sake of tradition… at least publicly. -DID NOT DO THE MICROWAVE THE BABY THING…SORRY BUT I’M NOT DOING THAT IT’S KINDA DUMB AND I DON’T FEEL THE NEED TO DO THAT -He has been told by Athair that he does sense the chaos energy of Knuckles is much higher than anyone. This has given him some concern… -Despite it all he genuinely loves Knuckles so much, if bad happened to him he’d move heaven and earth for the kid… too bad he just can’t seem to spend good time with him outside of work. -He did genuinely love Lara and wished they could make it work, simply cannot see his own errors on his own. -Has done some good things for society despite the bad he did to others… kinda got a Rose Quartz vibe when it comes to Knuckles and how he views his father. Complicated. -If he ever realised how much he’s hurt the people around him, his whole world would collapse. At least the best he could, he doesn’t have good empathy. That’s a big problem of why he struggles to understand his effect on people. -Had a guilty pleasure for playing video games but made sure no one knew about this, only Knuckles knows. They would play together. -he was extremely intelligent, at least in some cases… when it comes to people and emotions he’s a flat out idiot. -he’s in total a very morally grey character. I don't want to make him a full dick. I want to make him a complicated character.
