ngl it feels a little too simple to me when people say Umiri "had everything" and yet decided to choose Mujica. The vibes with her focus episode and her watching the Crychic reunion seemed far more to me like she has a lot of things but they're all empty. All width, no depth. Taki hits the nail on the head asking her so incredulously if she was even part of Mujica when Mutsumi comes up-- what does Umiri even take seriously?? Is anything important to her, as far as we can tell?

She has 30 bands but they're all mercenary and kept at an emotional distance to cope from being burnt before, she's not investing in anything or anyone. Taki's her seemingly closest friend despite not being particularly close to her (and struggling to communicate once she's criticized by her), she has a loving mother but seems to have some kind of complex with her, living apart and with clearly telegraphed weight issues. Pre-breakup, Umiri's arguably the least committed to the band, participating only briefly in their arguments and exiting without near the baggage of the others until Taki calls her out. Even her apartment we're shown is Male-Living-Space tier. Her diet is dangled in front of us as all protein and supplements, the pure necessities without flavor-- quite reflective of her life as a whole, ignoring the further implications!

IMO, seeing the kind of trust and depth of feeling Crychic had for one another compared to her own shallow relationships & life definitely cracked something in her which only Mujica, the one band that asked specifically for her, which she could feel responsible in its existence, could remedy. The bulimic feeling of her over-committing afterwards says a lot!
