Excerpt from the upcoming Maddie fic:

"I don't know anything about art," Maddie admitted.

She'd actually studied history, many years and another lifetime ago, and that had involved a great deal of art. But it had been western history, and she doubted Christian iconography was going to be of much use in interpreting the artistic merits of, like, bombs.

Besides, offering Deidara an opportunity to explain his passion to her, as a captive audience, might make him more likely to like her, and therefore less likely to kill her.

"Neither does this brat," Sasori interjected.

There was a brief, frosty silence.

Maddie didn't dare say anything that might break it.

"He thinks his way's the only way," Deidara sniffed. He tilted his head until his neck gave a little pop. "But my art of a single moment is unbeatable," he added, rallying against Sasori's disdain with absolutely bulletproof self-confidence.

Maddie glanced at Sasori. His face was exactly as expressionless as she expected a puppet's would be. But a few feet away, one of Deidara's eyebrows was twitching.

"...Right," she said slowly.

Some information about my OC, Rini:

She's Sasori's partner in the Akatsuki prior to Deidara's arrival.

The three are Akatsuki's artists, Rini is the 'grey' between their two ideals.

(To Deidara and Sasori) "Art merges both eternity and transience; you think just because the song ends, the music is gone? After the span of its life, the notes linger forever. It is both fleeting, but timeless."

She's a medical nin.

Rini is obsessive and Sasori's the sucker who is the object of Rini's overbearing affections.

Sasori want her clan's ability for himself, so he puts up with her.

Deidara think she's cute though.
