Oh my goodness, no it's no bother at all! Honestly, I would much rather be talking about fic writing than doing boring things like making a living (which consumed MY LIFE last week).

Ha! And you said it - this fic series has definitely been all-consuming. But I really love this particular AU, so let me tell you I've been working on it non-stop whenever I have time and have the following figured out so far:

My outline currently has the next fic at 12 chapters, though I have a sneaky suspicion that it'll become longer.

I have 53K written so far (but that's before editing😅).

It will have alternating POVs between Jean and Jeremy.

I wish I could give you a better sense of timing, but honestly it all comes down to my work schedule and what free time I have. At this point, I feel like I'm aiming toward April - but don't quote me.

And because I haven't posted something about Once in a Blue Moon on here for a while, here's a new snippet to chew over while I keep hustling as a thank you for your patience! 🥹

OIAB scene under the cut:

The LA airport is hot and muggy. It makes sweat bead down Jean’s neck and uncomfortably gather beneath his collar. Though he wears the lightest long-sleeve shirt he owns, the material still feels constricted and stifling, sticking to his skin. He has the insane urge to tear the garment off him and walk around bare-chested just to feel some relief.  Of course, he would never do so. In fact, the mere thought of it makes him pull his sleeves down farther, covering the backs of scar-ridden hands.  At least his head is cool.  He runs a hand over his buzzed scalp once more, the fuzzy feel of it still odd to him. Abby had suggested it so they could see his stitches better. And since so much of his hair had been pulled out anyway, it seemed to make sense.  Still, he hates how foreign the feeling is. He’s a stranger in his own skin. Has been, for some time he thinks.  He glances up anxiously at the clock on the wall, his knee bouncing as he waits. His flight landed ten minutes ago, and he thought his captain would be waiting here to greet him.  Apparently, he thought wrong.  Laughter erupts from behind him, and Jean jumps. He immediately spins around, only to find a family standing nearby, laughing at the antics of their two-year-old. He watches them for a moment before slowly turning back, clasping his hands in front of him and clutching them tight. Anxiety slowly begins to creep under his skin. Had he gotten the day wrong? Or the time? Did something happen between Palmetto and here that caused a delay? Should he call someone to ask?  He opens his phone and looks through the few contacts on his list.  Abby Winfield David Wymack Jeremy Knox Kevin Day Renee Walker Jean scowls.  His preference would likely be Abby or Renee, though he thinks the latter would have no information useful for this. Wymack, he would tolerate. He skims over the fourth name on the list because he’s never thinking of that fucker again in his entire life, if he can help it. Then he stares at the fifth name, the contact information for him uploaded without his knowledge into this new phone Abby got him. Jeremy Knox.  Starting Trojans Striker. #11. Played 52 games last season, scored 41 goals, and had 36 assists. Captain of the USC Trojans for three years straight. Fifth-best striker in the NCAA.  (Fourth, now that Riko is gone.)  Weaknesses: favors left side for goals, left knee injury in his sophomore year of high school, and overly attached to wellbeing of teammates. Jean scowls again.  If Knox is anything like the person who recommended him, he’s bound to be both a waste of Jean’s time and breath. After all, he can certainly strike punctual off the list.

The youngest Leclerc loves baby Leo. So why the fuck won't her boyfriends let her get a puppy?

Okay I found out one of 'my' dogs died while writing this

"Hi Baby Leo," she gushed as she scooped her little puppy into her arms. He was like a little shark with the way he went to bite at her sleeve.

But she didn't much mind, gushing over the dog that she had dubbed her nephew (well, if Arthur and Lorenzo weren't going to make her an aunt, Leo it would have to be).

"I'm gonna kidnap you," she said in that baby voice as she stroked under his chin. "Gonna steal you away from your daddy so you can come live with me and Lando and Max."

She was in her own little world as she played with Leo, her brother, her boyfriends, lost to her. Max tried to call her name, but she waved him off to press kisses to Leo's head.

Lando and Max couldn't deny how goddamn cute she looked, holding Leo close to her chest. She scooted around on her ass to face them. "Boys, I'm in love," she said and pouted at them as Leo went to bite her chin.

"Baby," Lando began as he joined her on the floor. "We're not getting a dog."

"Assholes."

She turned her attention away from Lando and looked towards her brother. "Charlie, do you need a baby sitter?" She asked as she placed Leo in her lap. He happily sat there and chewed on her skirt.

"No way," Charles said. "You're not babysitting my dog."

A huff left her lips and she muttered something to Leo, something like 'you'd never be this mean to me, would you angel?' "If I move in with you, cook, clean, pay rent, can I get a puppy?" She asked as she looked at him.

Max couldn't stop the laugh that left his lips. "Um, excuse me," he called and tapped her on the shoulder. She ignored him. "Angel, just because we're not letting you get a puppy..."

"That's not it, Maxie," she muttered and scratched at Leo's belly. "Leo just wants me close, that's all."

The Leclercs had always had dogs growing up. It was one of the reasons Charles had gotten Leo. So, seeing his sister so in love with his little puppy, he knew he had to do something.

Charles picked Leo up and pulled his sister up from the floor. She put Leo in his harness, attached his lead and put him on the floor. "Why don't you take him for a walk?" He said and pointed her towards the door.

But she didn't leave. "Cha," she whispered, looking back at her boyfriend. "What're you doing?"

He whispered something in her ear, something that Max and Lando couldn't hear. Something along the lines of 'I'm gonna try and convince these guys to get you a dog'.

She couldn't help but smile as she walked out, Leo at her heels.

Charles began talking to Max and Lando. But what he was suggesting was unrealistic. How could they have a dog when they already have cats? It wouldn't have been fair to Jimmy and Sassy.

But Charles wouldn't drop it, wouldn't drop how happy she looked when she was with Leo. Wouldn't drop how happy she would be if they got her a puppy.

By the time she came back with Leo, they still weren't convinced. But Max couldn't get it out of his head. They were his cats at the end of the day.

It didn't take long for him to work out that he'd do anything to make her happy, including get a puppy.

Charles took her away for a week. He was in on it, happy to help however he could.

And, while they were away, Max and Lando brought home Baguette. The name was Lando's idea, a 'French Poodle for a French girl'. Which pissed her off because she was not in fact French.

It was Max's job to introduce Baguette to the cats. It wasn't smooth sailing, but the boys knew it wasn't going to be. And, by the time Charles brought her home, Baguette and the cats were coming fast friends.

The memory of the first time she met Baguette would always be ingrained into Max and Lando's memory.

She threw her arms around Lando's neck the moment she walked into the apartment, unaware. But then she heard the barking.

"Is Leo here?" She asked, clearly confused as she looked around for the puppy.

But Max didn't emerge with a puppy. Well, not that puppy anyway. The French Poodle puppy was a stranger to her. "We got you something," Lando said as he watched her expression.

"No." It was almost a whisper as Max approached, Baguette in his arms.

"Baguette, say hello to your mommy," Max said as he passed her the dog.

Her mouth fell open as she took Baguette from Max. "This... this is a joke, right?" She couldn't stop herself from asking as Max wrapped his arm around Lando's waist. "You guys got me a dog?"

"We sure did, baby," Lando said as he stepped out from Max's embraced. He stroked Baguettes head, touched his soft, curly ears. "Baby, meet Baguette."

They have left the window open at the back of the chalet, and the wind that sweeps inside, the first vanguard of the oncoming thunderstorm, is cool and wet and rattles the dishes on the table, the bottle of wine and the leavings of the baguette and whatever brand of Camembert Flynn expertly selected from the cheese canyon at the supermarket. (Lucy has traveled to a lot of places by now, albeit largely not in the twenty-first century, but that was the first time she had seen so much cheese in one place -- welcome to Switzerland.) When the wind is followed in a few moments by the violent rattle of rain on the roof, soaking everything that it can remotely reach, Lucy sighs deeply, reaches out with her foot, and prods Flynn's leg. "Garcia," she says indistinctly. "Close the window. It'll get our books wet."

"Nnngh." Flynn is still sprawled flat on his back, looking mildly stunned, and it might be a stretch to expect coherency any time soon. (Then again, with Flynn, it is a struggle to get him to use his words at the best of times.) "Jus' a second."

Lucy supposes that she could get up and do it herself, since she was the one who kindly blew his brains out with that last orgasm, but she's also feeling boneless and breathless and utterly disinclined to emerge from the twisted nest of sheets, and it might just have to wait. It feels decadent enough as it is: lounging around in a remote Swiss chalet with her handsome European lover, having just finished a luxurious late lunch and an even more luxurious round of midafternoon sex. (Well, several rounds if you're being picky, but never mind that.) Not that Lucy is running (or indeed, singing) anywhere. After all, she is from California, and hence the adjustment to thin mountain air makes her wheeze horrendously. (Flynn, obnoxiously, is as Flynn-like as ever.)

Lucy rolls over onto her side, her thick dark hair coming down on her shoulders, which are marked with the insistent brands of Flynn's hot and hungry mouth, and tries to summon up the volition to actually exit the bed. The sheets are cloud-soft, white as the summer snow that still gilds the summits of the knifelike peaks that surround them to every side, and that's not even to mention the weight and gravity of Flynn behind her, as he reaches out one long arm, loops it around her waist, and pulls her back in. "Forget about the books, Lucy," he orders. "We can always get more of them."

Lucy utters a small noise of complaint; those are very special books, picked up from a historic secondhand shop on a fairytale cobbled street in Zurich, and she doesn't trust that you can just hop on Amazon and order a replacement. Finally, seeing that she's not going to let it go, Flynn sighs deeply, rolls backwards, and vaults to his feet -- all magnificently nude six-foot-four Croatian giant of him, as Lucy eyes his backside with deep appreciation. Flynn strides across the floor to the table under the window, sweeps the books out of danger, and sets them on the sideboard. But as he's about to crank the window shut, Lucy says, "Leave it open. I like listening to the rain."

Flynn quirks a darkly sassy eyebrow at her, as if to ask what else Her Majesty would like him to attend to while he's up, but as ever, he complies. Then he turns around and comes back to bed, and Lucy reaches out both arms to pull him halfway on top of her. She buries her nose in the crook of his neck, breathing in the scent of male sweat and sex and deep satisfaction, and Flynn lets out a small growl of happiness. Lucy strokes the muscled column of his back and tips her head back on the pillows. Like rain on the mountain, she thinks, like wind on the meadow. And there is no sadness in it, no poignancy, no parting. Just the beginning of something, not an end. Not an elegy, or a lament. Only this, and them, and love, and eternity.

Red Velvet Cheesecake - A hyper, crazy one! She probably bothers TK a l o t for the smallest things and stares at DE with a smile similar to TK's. When she is older I feel like she would work in the TBD along side her mom and her aunt Croissant!

Churro - He is a bit of a hot head, always having a reason to be pissed off, though it's a wall he puts up since he feels he would be a bit vulnerable if he shows his true feelings. Honestly I feel like he would be a therapist since it would help him understand that he is not the only one going through his anger barriers, but also to help others

Baguette - A calm and stone-faced child, he probably is thinking a lot about you... not in a good way. He is quick to judge others (especially his moms) but willing to give advice. He would be a legendary, taking over TK's place when she decides to retire

Purple Velvet - Open-minded and happy-go-lucky! She always tries to put a smile on someone's face, and can even melt the coldest of hearts. She is so sweet that it's very surprising when others find out her mothers are a crazy steampunk director and a ex villianess who is war criminal. No evil bone in her body! She would own a bakery when she is a adult

Flan - A silly little guy! Purple Velvet in him are apart of a sibling trio that are really sweet and loving. He loves animals (mostly frogs!). Flan will also help run the bakery with Purple Velvet!

Bulgogi - Confident and caring, he is good at leading the other siblings to doing small pranks and being good little children! He is a stickler to the rules and makes sure everyone follows them, even DE's group (who live in the palace). He would be a teacher

Sweet Roll - The third and final member of the 'Sweet Baking Trio', she is also sweet but sassy at times. TK often laughs and says her sass came from DE while Sweet Roll just has a snappy remark. She would help run the bakery with Purple Velvet and Flan!

Gatekeeper - Very imaginative and has a bit of a ego. She often thinks she is 'better' than her siblings and will become the worlds 'most powerful cookie everyone lays their eyes on'. Later on she will become a fashion designer

Apple Pie - A dependent and shy little guy, he is a bit of a mama's boy (mostly to DE). DE would have to guide him on the right path (sometimes literally since he gets a bit too scared to move due to his future seeing). He would be a scientist, trying to find ways on how to disable cookie powers

Tart - A very bitter and untrusting cookie, she will not trust anybody other than close family be with her siblings. She is very good at close combat, especially with swords. Tart would be a fencer in the Hollyberry Kingdom

Chocolate Cream Cheese - Easily scared and very anxious. He does not like being snuck up on and horror movies. He is very close to TK, which is why when he is older he would also work in the TBD!

Tamale - a aloof, cocky, self centered boy. He doesn't feel like he has the need to prove anything to anyone. He will also somehow make conversations about himself. When he is older he will be a lawyer

Banana Split - She is often seen as weird, especially because half of her face matches up with TK's and DE's. She joked around often and very curious of things around her! She is very much gifted in light magic and would become a professor one day!

Butter Cake - Very hyper and loud. She can literally pop out of no where and scare the living hell out of everyone, including Wind Archer! I feel like she might be a daycare attendant and be able to keep up with the kids without getting tired

Lavender Custard (my personal fav) - a very quiet, calm and reserved girl. Due to her missing leg she often gets picked on, but her siblings defend her (and her parents). She loves herbs and gardening, which will be useful when she becomes a adult. She will be skilled in medicine and making them from wild herbs!
