When Itachi had called him as back for the current situation of "Sasuke is stuck in the house 24/7", he came over no questions asked. Mostly cause he missed his friend, and secondly because he was annoyed at how many times he missed his calls. The blondes annoyance only grew when the writer didn't even bother to say hello when he arrived. Just a mumbled noise of acknowledgment. He'd perch himself on the himself in the nearest make shift seat. Trying small talk to get the others attention. That didn't work either. Asshole. So finally, he'd hit him. As if he was a cat batting away at one of those dangling toys. Sasuke's bewilderment cause him to laugh. Bright, cheerful, with a hint of mischievousness. Naruto simply smirks at him. Leaning in slightly. "I did." He says smugly. "Whatcha gonna do about it, Sasuke~?"

It was late evening as Itachi sat at the entrance of the cave where he and Taka were currently keeping shelter in order to stay out of the Akatsuki and Konoha's radar, as the older Uchiha waited for his younger brother to return he noticed that his eyes were beginning to grow heavy and not long after he drifted off to sleep.

After some time had passed his ears picked up on the sound of movement coming from outside the cave, normally Itachi would be on high alert and already have his kunai in his hand prepared to attack whoever was outside but since he recognized the voices of his younger brother and the other members of Taka he put the kunai away and was ready to greet his younger brother and his companions back, but once Itachi took a step outside he wasn't long noticing the blood dripping down the younger Uchiha's face and knew that the group must have had some confrontation with either the Akatsuki or the hidden leaf village because on how tired everyone seemed to be. But when Itachi took a step towards Sasuke and placed a hand on his younger brother's shoulder to get a better look at his eyes, he felt him slap his hand away from getting any closer to the younger Uchiha.

"Sasuke…" Itachi spoke silently then closed his eyes before stepping back to give his younger brother some space and realized that perhaps he overstepped his boundary knowing that the two were still getting used to having each other back in their lives.

"Okay. Okay, that's okay Sasuke-kun." Iruka put his hands up in a placating matter. "I'm not going to force you to talk about anything if you don't want to. But the offer is always on the table. If you ever need to talk about something, my door is always open."

The kunai he had been spinning between his fingers comes to an abrupt halt.

He'd known the moment he crossed the threshold of the front gates, dawning his ANBU attire and a bag of simple items, that he would be marked out as one of Konoha's best to bear the title of one of their most hated.

The hatred was mutual--at least to those that deserved it.

They thought him terrible. He accepted that maybe in some sense, he was.

But it struck him harder to know that Sasuke didn't follow that line of thought.

Sasuke had always affected something familiar in him, a kindred soul perhaps in the sense that he had been forced to grow up far faster than he should have. He learned early on the reality of the world and the agony of loss. He too had been focused on becoming stronger, just to chase the hurt away, and Kakashi had felt for him. Further more, he had wanted to be a presence that was capable of patience and understanding for this particular student.

Now he had a target on his back, painted bright because he wouldn't stand for the actions of Danzo and the ROOT. If only he had been able to infiltrate sooner...if only he had taken the opportunity to end it all when he'd been among them for a brief period of time. He should have known then the distasteful things that had been going on behind the scenes then, but he'd been too blind, and far too loyal.

"Thanks." He says softly, head lowered as he stares at the gleaming edge of the freshly sharpened blade. It's difficult to make out, but there's a smile under that mask. His eyes become heavily lidded, as if being told he can finally rest.

"I'm...glad you think so."

Deidara stared at the floor, not wanting to make eye contact with the current caretaker for his injured leg. He didn't except him of all people to even care this much to want to help him.

Itachi asked while his attention drifted away from Sasuke so he could think of something embarrassing that had happened to him in the past. "Well…there was this one time…" the older Uchiha began to say but paused wondering if he should tell his younger about the time he had to flirt with some older women in order to get intel for a mission while he was still a member of the Akatsuki. " I had to flirt with some older women to gather intel for the Akatsuki…" he spoke while quickly turning away to hide the blush that was beginning to make his cheeks turn bright red.

Drunken Antics

Sasuke gave an inelegant snort at the other’s words. “Yea, sure.” Nobody took it easy on you because you were a kid. Even the idea seemed like a myth to Sasuke now. He took another swig and finished the drink in his glass before immediately motioning the bartender for another. He loved being able to forget and just be, and his friend was good company.

He chortled at the others words, certainly finding amusement in his words. “Well, you’re sayin that because you haven’t met Itachi,” he slurred, before sipping delicately at his fresh drink. “Two, because you don’t know I just wanted to live with him forever.” Sasuke sighed, suddenly saddened and tearing up. “I was scared ‘d never see him again, y’know. And I always saw mom and dad together so that was the solution in my kid brain…”

He rested his elbows on the table, fingers entwined to place his  chin upon as he watched the other talk, he’s always filled with such emotion and passion when it comes to talking about his family. What a sweet moment, right ? But all he could think of to say was,  ❝ Are you sure you’re not in love with your brother and still wanna marry him, ❞ he couldn’t help but poke fun of the other. Plus he was drunk, what are the chances he’ll remember the next day, at the rate he’s going down on drinks, slim to none.

It was early morning as Itachi was woken by noises coming from the lower level of the house, knowing it must have been Sasuke and he was likely getting ready to depart on a mission, sitting up in his bed, the older Uchiha moved his legs to the edge then stood up on his feet making his way towards the closed bedroom door, once Itachi exited the room he made his way down the stairs to see that his younger brother was already in the front hallway preparing to leave for a mission it seemed.“So…it seems that you are heading out on another mission?” he asked pausing and standing on the second last stair on the staircase.

After a few words were exchanged by the two brother’s, Itachi spotted that Sasuke now had his hand on the door most likely ready to depart, but before the younger Uchiha had a chance to leave, the older Uchiha’s lips parted to promise his younger brother once he returned home from his mission, he would train Sasuke and teach him some new jutsus.“…Sasuke once you return from your mission why don’t we go to the training fields and I’ll teach you a few new jutsus, that will come in handy for future missions?” he asked in a promising tone of voice.
