Do you ever think about Jeritza von Hyrm? About how his circumstances forced him to be the monster he became? About how he gave up everything including his identity and security to protect the people he loved most? About how he was thrust into an important position in the Empire before he was even an adult? About how his favorite food is peach sorbet? About how he was morphed into a weapon at the cost of his personhood? About how he only regains a little bit of said personhood when he's given the space to not be the death knight? About how he's so underappreciated? I do.

it annoys me so much when people say "edel had no other choice" as a thought terminating cliche. like even IF that were true, how one goes about that is still a characterful thing that gets minimized to "so it's not her fault stop being mean to her she just did what she had to". like. does she feel regret? does she apologize ot the people she's hurting? does she view it as righteous? who knows, becuase the argument is only ever used as a "stop being mean to my wife" line and not a character thing.
Yeah cuz like. Okay so let's say that starting the war was absolutely not her fault because xyz circumstance robs her of any substantial say in the matter.
What about using Demonic Beasts? What about her siccing her army and different set of Demonic Beasts on her own "friends" so that she could make more Demonic Beasts? Stealing from a gravesite to do so? What about starving her citizens, and being the only lord TO starve her citizens in their route? What about killing Judith as she ran away from her? Hell, invading the neutral Alliance in the first place? What about helping the Death Knight get away with stealing Flayn if 25 turns pass? What about saying nothing about Kronya even after Solon reveals himself at Remire? What about giving Jeritza a hunting ground to enable his bloodlust and not, like. Professional help?
She couldn't even mention a means she's working on to do anything about her starving citizens? Did she have to blame Claude (and everyone really) not immediately bowing down to her as to why the Alliance was violently invaded, and not her violent invasion being the reason it was violently invaded? What about persecuting Church followers who didn't do shit to anybody, did she have to do that shit too? Never freeing Brigid and instead stationing her men there on her route and sending Hubert there off of it; that was forced on her too? Taking Byleth's credit during the siege instead of letting them get the recognition they deserve - what, just, fate forcing her hand once again?
Are we really going to sit here and say because the war "needed" to happen, Edelgard was forced to do literally all of that (and more)? That because Edelgard was "forced" into war, she was also forced to do literally anything involving the war?
Like you said, her stans saying that she "had no choice" but to start the war does nothing to say anything about her as a character, because they also reject everything else she did regarding her war as having anything to do with her agency. They treat "she had to do this" as a means to protect the moral purity they want her character to have so they don't feel bad rooting for the villain to win, not as something that goes on to mean anything for her.
And I'm not asking for her to save literally every single person ever from any harm ever to prove her care about not going to war exists, I'm asking for LITERALLY ANYTHING. Because she quite literally does nothing to mitigate harm from anybody in this war, and regardless of whether the war was "forced" on her hands or not she absolutely could have done something to make sure her people suffered as minimally as possible. Which damn sure isn't seen in her hiding behind them as she sits in her throne room (a thing Dimitri and Claude absolutely don't do, with either similar or less time to prepare to protect their people). Or starves them, a thing uniquely said about her route (as literally all the other ones have the army go with lacking food supplies). Or allows Thales to conscript them under threat of death. Or openly saying that she thinks weak people would only stay weak after her war because they're "too used to relying on others" - because when her war takes everything away from people, it'd be THEIR fault for staying weak, which is *chef's kiss* so kind and caring amiright guys. Definitely shows off that she understands and/or cares about the ramifications of her war onto the people, and not that she has her head shoved squarely and firmly up her ass.
What does it meaningfully mean for the war to not be Edelgard's fault, if she's not going to do anything to indicate that she cares about other people enough to want to not force war on them? Hell, when she very explicitly shows she doesn't particularly care about how it'd affect people, if it affects people in a way that doesn't align with her beliefs? When she very explicitly says she's perfectly willing to sacrifice her people for her higher cause, and then goes on to sacrifice her people for her higher cause? If she doesn't even try to help others because the war was forced on her, that at best makes her one of powerless victim or uncaring defeatist - neither of which fit the resolute caring ambitious revolutionary they paradoxically also want her to be. So, again, what does it actually mean for the war to not be a result of Edelgard's agency, if she regardless of that still shows callous indifference to those harmed by the war?
It's a question no one who posits this about Edelgard is able to answer, because as you said, it's not meant to be anything more than a shallow defense against her own actions. Letting Edelgard have even the slightest smidgen of agency in her own actions means accepting that she is a massive fucking penis. A huge gaping asshole. A plain ol' jerk. Which again! Is INFINITELY more engaging to watch than this marionette strung along by literally everyone around her into "looking" like a villain, only being her "true" self when she's feeding kittens and dwawing her cwush and burping her googoo gaga babyass girlfriend they also tend to make (f!)Byleth over her shoulder

Fire Emblem: Three Houses Comprehensive Guide
I'm making this guide because I noticed that while there are others with the same information elsewhere, many of them are incorrect or not as comprehensive as one might like. It started as my own personal notes, but I figured I'd go a little deeper and post it for anyone else like me who wishes to choose the "correct" dialog options/is curious what the choices not picked lead to, among other things. I plan on going through the main story to start, and then do guides for all advice/classroom questions as well as tea time and gifts for each character. This will be a post as I go project with no specific schedule in mind, so stay tuned for each chapter's guide as I will only be posting them as I complete them!! Please feel free to ask questions about any route though, or if you have something to add I may have missed and/or corrections to anything I might have gotten wrong!! I have an ungodly amount of knowledge and time into this game, may as well put it to use lol
All that being said, there WILL be spoilers!! I will do my my best to be as vague as I can overall, seeing as I can't block them out on tumblr, but I apologize if I miss something!!
General Notes:
- Byleth's canon birthday is 20th of Horsebow Moon (9/20 or September 20th for us), this makes a good default if you dont have one in mind like me

• Yuri
- It should be mentioned that while it is possible to gain or lose approval with Jeralt, there are no rewards or penelties for this as he does not have supports like the other characters, though he was originally intended to have them according to the game files
- Similarly; Sothis' approval only matters if you plan on pursuing her paired ending/"romance" route. Dialog options are the only way to gain or lose points, so choices that gain approval are important if you want this path, otherwise they sereve no purpose
- With gaining approval between the three house leaders, you can only earn supports with them if you choose to teach their house, afterwards you can no longer gain or lose approval with the other two. The choices during the prologue that can gain you points simply serve as a headstart of sorts for whichever house you plan to choose in the long-run.
- Each route, of which there are four despite there only being three houses, has a story of its own with different characters only accessible in that specific route. Those characters are listed above under the Romance Options for both male and female Byleth since supports between characters/Byleth's chosen S support/Ending Route are the only things really affected by them. Characters with these route specific restrictions will become locked via their supports with all characters even if they were accessible before the timeskip
- There are many supports between all the characters that also become locked after the time skip/need to be accessed before a certain point or can only be unlocked after reaching a certain point in the story. I will list those in another post and link it once finished
- As far as I can tell, if you skip a scene of dialog, if there was a choice to gain or lose approval somewhere along it, it simply doesn't affect the approval rating it was tied to. However, I would imagine if you get until a choice needs to be made, it will count towards the tally should you skip after choosing it
----
Part One; Prologue: An Inevitable Enoucounter
General information:
- You don't need to follow Jeralt's instructions if you do not wish to
- You will only lose the battle if you, Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude all fall.   - Because of this, on higher difficulties it may be better to simply let Jeralt handle most, if not all of the enemies he can
Dialog Choices (In Order):
(The choices that are bolded are the ones I tend to pick simply because I feel they fit or flow better than the others, they're just there for fun uwu)
Before battle (Game Start):
- Human, ghost, demon - You have to choose human to progress, she will make you choose again minus the one you picked the first time around if you answer ghost or demon, both of which earn same response of "Do not deceive, you would do well to keep your wit in line."
- War: "Massive armies clashing on a vast field, right? There hasn't been a battle like that in over three centuries..."
Girl: "You've described her to me before, I don't think I've ever met anyone like that.."
- "Oh, right" or "Of course" Both earn the same response but "of course" nets Jeralt approval +1 while "oh, right" is -1
Battle Dialog:
- Have the three kids talk to you (Byleth) if you'd like, it's just there as extra flavor. If not, here's what they say:
Edelgard: "You have a strange aura about you...You say you're a mercenary, so show me what you can do."
Dimitri: "Thank you. We are in your debt. It wouldn't do for us to fall in a place like this. Please, lend us your strength. Let's work together to drive our these thieves!"
Claude: "It's because of you guys I'm not dead right now. Thanks for that! I didn't expect to run into mercenaries like you in some remote village. The gods of fortune must be smiling on me!"
Unique boss dialog upon first initiated combat against/by Kostas (also a simple extra):
- Byleth - "Hey, you with the blank stare! Outta my way!"
- Dimitri, Claude, Edelgard - "I'm gonna kill you where you stand..."
- Jeralt - K: "What the?! Aren't you Jeralt the blade breaker? What's a renowned mercenary like you doing here?"
J: "I'm the one who should be complaining. I'm caught up in the mess you started!"
After battle w/ Sothis:
- "What are you talking about?" or "Sothis?" both earn "I was not able to recall my name... until just now."
- "I am no child." - "Ha! Such arrogance. You look the part, but are you truly an adult?"
"I'm less than a child?" - "Correct! You understnad." (+1 Sothis approval)
- "Thank you." - "There now. Is gratitude so much to ask? I did deem you worth saving, after all"
"You stopped time?" - "Hm. I do not hear your gratitude. Perhaps I should force you to leave?"
Either way you give your thanks and earn the same response as if you thanked her right off
- "What will happen when time resumes?" or "What now?" both earn "When time begins again, the axe will tear into your flesh, and you will surely meet your end."
- "Turn back the hands of time" - "Of course! I must turn back the hands of time!" (+1 Sothis approval)
"Keep time frozen until I'm safe" - "That is ridiculous! Oh, but perhaps..."
"I'll just stay here and wait to die" - "As if I could stand idly by and watch that come to pass! Oh, but perhaps..." (-1 Sothis approval)
After Battle:
"He is a stranger to me" & "I'm a bandit" both earn "Great sense of humor, this one. Clearly cut from the same cloth as the captain" from Alois BUT the first earns -1 approval from Jeralt while the second you get +1 from Alois instead
"That is correct" - "Is that so? Well, physical differences aside,  your mannerisms do remind me of the captain."
- "The Knights of Seiros?" - E: "You haven't heard of the Knight's of Seiros? The most famous knights in all of Fodlan?
"I didn't know he was a captain" - "How curious. I'd wager the explaination for that is fascinating indeed." (+1 Edelgard Approval)
- Andrestian Empire: "A wise choice. Though the Empire has fallen from its former glory, the other regions are merely offshoots that pale in comparison." (+1 Edelgard Approval)
Fareghus: "Understood. Faerghus is a noble and distinguished kingdom that has always valued chivalry." (+1 Dimitri Approval)
Alliance: "Is that right? Well, that's a win for the Alliance, so I suppose I'm obligated to be happy." (+1 Claude Approval)
- At the choice to ruminate in your thoughts between Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude it doesn't matter which one nor the order you pick them in as you will go through all three before progressing.
Edelgard: (She is a refined young woman...But I feel as though she is always evaluating me...)
Dimitri: (He seems quite sincere...But I sense a darkness lurking beneath...)
Claude: (His easy smile is striking...But that smile doesn't reach his eyes...)
After that, you all begin your trek to the Monastery
(End of Prologue)
Chapter One, Part One: White Clouds
General Notes:
- You are considered part of the church until choosing a house, this is a good point to save after completeing the first quest but before you report back to Rhea if you wish to do different routes in the future but do not wish to go through the prologue or charcter interactions again. Any dialog choices made during it will not have an effect on anything but approval points, which are easily gained even if you didn't choose whichever options would gain you one of the three's approval
- During your first quest, Informal Introductions, while you do have to speak to each leader to progress the quest, you do not have to actually go through all the students they will tell you about. It's just a general look into their stats as well as a short insight as to what the house leader thinks of them. Interesting, but not nessecary. When they ask if you would like to hear more, say no and it will end the conversation but count as "speaking" to them. They do not comment on this nor is there a penelty for not listening to them
- You can speak with many other students/faculty in greeting in this stage as well. It doesn't count towards anything, but again, it's an intersting look into the characters.
 - In order to speak with those on the far end of the second floor (the offices/library), you either should go at any point beforespeaking with all three of the house leaders, or choose to keep exploring if prompted once speaking with the three, then head to the second floor, speak to who you wish and head back to the glowing spot at the entrance of the audience chamber where you started to complete the quest
Dialog Options:
-"Her?" - "You saw her in the courtyard earlier, didn't you? The archbishop...Lady Rhea."
"You've been here before?" - "I've never spoken of this to you before, but...many years ago, I was a knight here. I reported to the archbishop...Lady Rhea."
- "The archbishop?" & "Lady Rhea?" both earn "As you know, the majority of the folks in Fodlan are devout followers of the teachings or Seiros. The leader of that ridiculously large relious organization is the archbishop. Lady Rhea."
- "My name is..." Rhea: "A fine name indeed" (+1 Rhea Approval)
"..." - Seteth: "You must at least show the basic curtosy of telling us your name! Do you not think you are being a bit rude to the archbishop?"
Rhea: "It is alright, Seteth. My Dear, I am called Lady Rhea. I am the archbishop of the Church of Seiros.
In truth, I was only being polite. I already know your name, and what a fine name it is."
- "As a servent?" & "As a mercenary?" both earn "Nothing like that. They want you to teach, by the sound of it"
-"You're a physician?" -  "(Good-natured laugh) I look too pretty for that line of work, do I? But yes, when I'm not teaching, I can be found in the infirmary."
"You're a songstress?" "Of course. Before I came here, I belonged to a renowned opera comapny. Perhaps you've heard of me? The Mittelfrank Opera Comapny's beautiful, peerless--"
After choosing house (Happens no matter the choice):
- "Do what you can to find out "- "Yes of course. I'll get to the bottom of it straight away" (+1 Hanneman Approval)
"There is no need" - I most strongly disagree! There absolutly is a need. My Crest research is of critical importance to the church, I'll have you know. Since you are now a professor here, I must insist that you aid in my research.
Of course, there are those who lack the foresight to aid in my endeavors, such as that stubborn Seteth. But such individuals are the rare exception."
Either way, you comply and discover you have a "Mystery Crest"
---
This is the end of the prologue/the initial start of chapter one where you become the professor for the class you picked earlier. I'm starting with the Blue Lions route as I feel it is best for the first playthrough because of how it plays out in the key points of the story. Ultimately it doesn't matter which order you play them in, it's simply my opinion this is a good place to start if you wish to better understand the main plotline (I'm also biased for Dimitri, but that's neither here nor there lol)
I will post the dialog options and other such important moments/information like that above as I complete the chapters. Again, I cannot promise this will be done in a timely manner nor on a schedule, simply when they are completed I will post them. I will link back to Chapter One of each route here as they're posted as well!!

Thinking about it, Felix comes across as a deliberate parallel to Byleth.
I mean, there’s the obvious. Both get shields as the result of their paralogues, both of their final classes are sword users who also use magic, and then there’s the mercenary thing. Byleth starts as a merc and, if they follow Flower, they can return to being a merc whereas Felix ends up as a merc in every route bar his home route.
This is what really got me though. With Byleth, going Flower is framed as their path of thorns as that’s what the scene joining Edelgard is called. That Byleth rejected their duty, walking a path of sin (specifically sloth) instead, and this leads to Byleth losing their powers and possibly returning to being a mercenary depending on their partner. But then look at Felix’s endings outside of Moon. He abandons his duties as a noble of the Kingdom, abandons it, and ends the route abandoning his own noble title.
It gets worse in the events of Flower, as he’s betrayed and attacking his own homeland. His own family, and after his father’s death he realizes he’s become the boar he always accused Dimitri of being. As a result, he leaves to being a mercenary and ends up dying a bloody death somewhere. This would also tie into Byleth, who does betray and attack their family in Flower, a route called the Animal Path in Japanese. Hell, Byleth was born at Garreg Mach and ends up leading the attack on it. The Byleth/Jeritza ending expands and clarifies Byleth’s solo ending, showing that the bit about maintaining the use of their relic was imperial bullshit, that the “true peace” fights for is simply removing the Agarthans and Byleth doesn’t have any goal in life beyond that. The relationship is one that is supposed to lead to Byleth and Jeritza eventually fighting to the death, Jeritza hoping Byleth can kill the Death Knight, and both of them disappearing.
It gets worse still when you remember that in Flower, Sylvain mentions that the empire was involved in Duscur and that happens when Sylvain is recruited. Felix probably realizes that he’s aligned with the people who orchestrated the event that led to his brother’s death. Meanwhile, Byleth has to save the Agarthans in Hubert’s paralogue, making it clear they know that the Empire is working with the folks who killed their father but Edelgard is trying to keep them in the dark.
But the thing is, remember why Felix begins to crack in the routes where he simply bailed on his country to join Byleth’s forces. Felix didn’t know Dimitri was still alive, that was only revealed after Felix left. But then Dimitri goes and dies on him, leaving Felix wondering if he could have done anything to save his friend. It’s this that leads to him ditching his inheritance. And that just feels so Houses, where in the original Japanese Dimitri is called the Savior King because he supports the people in need, whereas King/Queen Byleth is also said to bring the people salvation in the Japanese for the same thing. And in Byleth’s case, any route other than Flower is them completing their duty as it’s not them walking the path of thorns.
SS, VW and especially Flower end up being Felix’s path of thorns, where Felix rejects their duty and can end up destroying him. And all of this is supposed to get people to realize the same is true about Byleth and their duty to protect Fodlan from those who would harm it.

Azure Gleam 15 (Final)
As long as this has gone on for, I'm actually bummed to finish this one.
NARRATION
Those special chapters were so weird. It's kind of funny how the plot is like, just ignoring all of that and going back to regular programming. It's like in an old kid's show when they got a dog and then the next episode - no dog anymore. Like there's kinda no point to it.
Ok, so Thales talking to yeeted Edelgard. I will never not get over how funny it is that's the path the writers decided.
Yep, we're really just jumping back into the regular plot. That is so funny. The writing in this game is a clusterfuck at times.
Ok, so we're going to the monastery to save Rhea. MUCH better than saving Bernie's dad.
TWSITD causing chaos again. I feel this route targeted them more than the other two. Like they barely existed in GW.
Everyone's worried about Rhea.
Dimitri wants to wreck TWSITD and the Empire. Let's fucking go!
MAP
No side quests again! Guys, I'm sooooo close to beating this game I can taste it. Both SB and AG have very short final chapters.
Only Claude is annoying, which tracks how this game's gone so . . .
So I've gotten all the supports for: Dimitri, Dedue, Felix, Sylvain, Ingrid, and Rodrigue. Mercedes I'm only missing Jeritza. I didn't use Annette or Ashe, so they're missing a few, but I feel I did pretty good. Hopefully I can get Mercie and Jeritza this chapter.
Ugh, so I missed the opportunity to deepen my bond with Byleth :( Maybe next time.
So in another route, Ashe had no idea what he believed in anymore. In this one, he's confident about his sense of justice.
In another route, Yuri didn't tell me his history with Varley, in this one he trusted me with it.
Ingrid is a queen. She said it's the people who suffer in war, our leaders should reach diplomatic resolutions. Too bad only Dimitri believes in those :(
Aww, Byleth refused to kill Shez during their fight because he could tell she wasn't herself. I soooo wish I'd gotten their supports.
Ok, so I ran into Raphael again and agreed that I didn't like how we were fighting (which, imo, isn't true, but I wanted to see the difference). Shez thinks Edelgard is too cruel, Claude is too haphazard, and Dimitri is too cautious. She pretty much nailed it.
No Arval in the tent :(
Linhardt just said Caspar revels in bloodshed. That's fucked up.
My heart just broke and warmed at the same time. A Kingdom general asked a Duscur general how the people from Duscur pray. He wanted to learn because he lost a lot of good soldiers from Duscur in the last battle and wanted to pray for them in the way their religion would. It's details like this that make Hopes worth it.
Haha, Dedue was fairly chill considering I attacked allies and posed a possible threat to Dimitri. He brought it up, but didn't harp on it.
BYLETH & JERALT A
Man, I'm glad I got this unlocked in time.
Byleth gave Jeralt flowers. First time in Byleth's life lol.
He's trying to communicate his feelings, thankfulness to Jeralt for being his captain and father.
Aw, it's a throwback to Byleth giving out flowers at the Academy.
Lamo, Jeralt just said Byleth may have been a student or led seminars, but isn't qualified to be a teacher.
Jeralt's like, I knew you cared, kid. But I still appreciate it.
Byleth picked the flowers out himself. It's the same kind his mother liked :(((
Jeralt used to give these flowers to Sitri.
Byleth is being so sentimental and sweet. I can just imagine a voiced Byleth saying lines like that in Houses' supports and buying more into the character.
I swear, this game made me really get Byleth more and "buy into" the character. Also, I'm going to cry so hard when Jeralt dies. I still don't really care for Jeralt, but I'm going to just feel so sad for Byleth.
DIMITRI & DEDUE A
For anyone wondering, I purposefully saved this one and Felix A. I've had them unlocked for a while.
Dedue is worried because Dimitri keeps sleeping at his desk. He's grateful or else he'd get sore.
Of course, he had bad dreams about the past.
Ohhhh! Not the tragedy, but arriving home after. Cool to learn some tidbits about that part too.
A child cursed Dimitri after the funeral because his dad died in Duscur and was furious with Dimitri for not killing Dedue, but hanging out with him instead.
Dimitri just ignored him.
Then Dimitri talks about his duty to those who died, and asks Dedue what he would do if Dimitri begged for vengeance while he was dying. OFC, Dedue says he'd do it even if he died.
Then Dimitri asks the opposite, what would Dedue do if Dimitri begged him to live for his own happiness? Dedue said he couldn't.
"I cannot know happiness without you by my side." :(((((((
He'd seek revenge, for his own sake, not Dimitri's.
Dimitri's like, nothing I'd say would change your mind?
Dedue just flips the subject, asking if Dimitri can't just live for himself, and ofc Dimitri says no, he can't.
But imagines another life traveling around as a merc with Dedue or living as a farmer. Dedue's like, why not go?
Dimitri says obviously I can't do that.
So Dedue's like get some sleep.
It worries Dedue every time he sees Dimitri asleep like that at his desk bc he's worried Dimitri died. But Dimitri's like, not why you're here. It won't happen.
Dimitri's like, if I died, that wouldn't go well, so I'll listen.
GUYS. DIMITRI'S GOING TO SLEEP. SOMEONE TALKED HIM INTO SLEEPING. THE POWER OF DEDUE.
They're married, your honor.
DIMITRI & FELIX A
Starts with Dimitri apologizing and promising revenge, killing all of TWSITD no matter the cost.
Felix walks in, Dimitri almost calls him Glenn, but corrects, and apologizes again except to Felix for seeing that.
Felix is like "I've seen all there is of you to see." So, uh, what does that mean?
Dimitri explains that he suffers from a "waking dream," saying he sees the dead like they're real.
Then talks about the violent revenge the dead scream at him.
Felix asks when this all started. Dimitri says 6 years, but the voices started 4 years ago during his first battle? Not sure those numbers line up with lore and age, but I don't know how old they are this time. Anyways, started with Duscur, got worse when Rufus tried to have Dimitri killed by sending him to battle.
The man he killed that freaked Felix out was someone from Duscur, and the voices cheered when he killed the guy.
Felix is like, do you really think Glenn and Lambert would torture you like that? Telling Dimitri he's the one doing it, not them.
Dimitri's like, even if that's true, I can't forgive myself.
Felix talks about how if Dimitri loses his path, he's taking everyone down with him (so Houses, sans AM) and says "keep the whole removing their heads thing in check yeah?"
Felix says it'll be their secret.
"are you offering to let me unburden my heart to you when the time calls for it?" - Dimitri to Felix. Guys, I'm dying a little.
Dimitri credits Felix with the reason he hasn't descended into madness, and asks Felix to continue being his right-hand man.
Hahahah, OMG, Felix picked Dimitri up and is physically carrying him to bed. Dimitri is nearly laughing because he's so much taller than Felix his feet are dragging the floor.
Felix calls him a "sack of muscle" lol
Dimitri carried Felix like this when Felix twisted his ankle. And now is calling this a workout. Dimitri's still massively entertained.
They are also married.
Man, so Dedue got Dimitri to fucking sleep, and Felix got him to laugh.
Ok, this game is really Dimilix, the game. I swear a shipper on deck wrote this. It may also be why Felix was one of the few Blue Lions to survive SB. Writers' bias.
My shipping heart is so happy with both supports.
ASHE & FLAYN B
This is their final support.
They're fishing together. She's trying to reel in a big fish, but it's not working. Ashe gives her tips. And she got it!
Though, it seems like it was a bit of a struggle.
Flayn swore she'd not let go no matter what. Ashe says sometimes it's best to not let go, and suddenly understands Seteth. But still compliments her on her determination.
Flayn thinks her mother would be proud of her for catching this, which is part of the reason Flayn loves fishing.
She flirts with Ashe a bit too lol.
And now she's drooling over the fish.
Ashe says Flayn enjoys him of his sister and really had fun.
But then panics thinking of Flayn in the kitchen lol.
ANNETTE & CONSTANCE B
Constance compliments Annette's performance in battle.
Constance is a legendary alumni at the school in Faerghus.
Stories include turning bossy noble kids into horses. And she started using it everywhere.
She argued magical theory with teachers and won.
These make me love Constance, not going to lie.
Annette is nervous being around someone so famous. Constance calls Annette one of the most talented women in the Kingdom.
Constance loves a book Annette work, but it's mostly a cook book, so Annette doesn't make much of it.
Annette wrote a magical cookbook, and Constance is all about it.
Annette tries to give Mercedes credit because she's the cook.
They both want to get to know each other better.
This was really them geeking out over each other, magic, and Mercedes' cooking.
MERCEDES & JERITZA A
It came down to the lack fucking minute, but I got it. Thank you, Shez, for cooking the perfect dinner.
Jeritza finds and old letter from Mercedes' mother. Or, rather, she wrote Jeritza a letter after Mercie told her that they found him.
They both want to live with him after the war, but he says no.
He can't face her because of his past actions. Doesn't seem Mercie holds it against him. And says neither will her mother.
Then Jeritza talks about the Death Knight persona.
Mercie's like, naw, because you're fine right now.
Jeritza still doesn't give in though. He insists he must pay for his crimes, which he thinks he never can. He wants to get judged by the law, which, honestly, respect.
Mercie decides to support his decisions, even though it makes her sad, and that they'll be waiting for him. No matter how long. Even if they're both old ladies.
I really loved that support. Seeing Mercie support Jeritza's decision, seeing Jeritza take responsibility for his actions. All around good support.
ANNETTE & CONSTANCE A
Glad I got this one. I think Seteth/Shez A is the only other support still within reach.
Constance wants Annette's help conducting an experiment outside. Annette knows how Constance's mood changes when she goes outside. Annette's happy to help.
Obviously now Constance is being down on herself.
Annette volunteered before learning the experiment. Thankfully it's just to try and get all the cats from the area.
It fails :( I want a spell like that.
Constance is obviously moping, Annette gives her a pep talk, but it probably useless bc they're outside.
It attracted bugs, and Constance says the cockroach is a better sorceresses than her lamo. Then they attract angry birds lol.
Once back inside, Constance realizes her spell does sort of work, but they just didn't know how to get cats.
Aww, I really liked that support chain.
FINAL BATTLE
How can anyone not tell something is wrong with Edelgard?
It's so weird how they just ignore the special chapters.
Thales is making her fight.
Sylvain said he'll skip the class reunion if this is what they're like.
Ingrid is roaring to go after Thales.
No sign of Claude. Dimitri's trusting him, but I don't know about that. I wonder if he betrays you here too. Though Dimitri makes a good point that if Faerghus falls, Claude's ass is next.
On, cool image! Dimitri giving a speech. It's like a moment in Lord of the Rings before Aragorn and co march on Mordor.
I like this! Dimitri's talking about severing the past and moving on into tomorrow. Good to hear him talking like that.
I only got 40 points too. Guess Claude was the odd one out, getting more points for his battle than the other two.
Kyrona made an appearance.
Felt good to kill Varley for once.
Getting ready to face Thales now. Dimitri about to get his revenge against TWSITD. Feels good.
Shez is reassuring Dimitri that he's not alone. That his friends are here to help. :)
I think I just killed Kyrona for good this time.
Time to kick Thales' ass. Much better than killing Rhea. Again.
We also got to defeat Edelgard. Having a hard time feeling bad about that.
This battle is pure chaos. But in a fun way.
Oh, did I beat Thales? I'm at a cut scene. Shez stopped Edelgard; and Dimitri's marching to kick Thales' ass.
Haha, he just ignored Thales magic like it was nothing. What a fucking badass.
He's not even saying anything, just breathing, and the voice acting is still on point.
Edelgard remembered Dimitri? So he didn't kill her. And outside Rhea, Claude and the Blue Lions are waiting. And sun is about to come up.
This felt WAY more complete than the other two. I was expecting MUCH worse. Maybe if I played the other two first I'd be more surprised, but they set the bar stupid low.
We defeated the Empire, defeated TWSITD - I don't know what would even be left?
I love how hard the narration tries to make it sound like the Empire has a fart's chance in the wind anymore. It's just clean up now.
MVP time. It'll eventually turn into the Dimitri show like SB did Hubert and GW did Lorenz. I suspect it'll take longer though bc I wanted to use the other Blue Lions a lot.
Actually, I lie, it happened like the second I got Dimitri and not just Shez. I think I may just be a stan lol. He's also just so damn strong he killed so much easier and faster than anyone else.
You can tell the chapter Dimitri was missing for since Felix and Ingrid kept trading MVP. Then back to Dimitri.
Hey! Rodrigue got one!
I'm excited for Dimitri's letter. Still wish we got paired endings here though.
Dimitri feels reassured with Shez by his side. He's also the only one who asked Shez to stay in the Kingdom. It's nothing spectacular, but it was sweet.
I'm also a bit sad to see this one end. No more Fodlan unless I replay, but I guess there's still supports I didn't unlock.
Guys, I can't believe I finished. Now I'm finally "free" to play whatever games I want.
Def want to replay Engage and Houses, and some non-FE stuff too. Should I get the Engage DLC?

If anything - Edelgard saved Jeritza. Anyone else would have, as you said, tried murdering him (which he wanted, yes, but it wouldn’t have been a solution) or exploited him themselves (you can’t tell me there aren’t nobles out there who would be ecstatic about having their own personal serial killer on a leash). At least El worked with him on equal terms and made efforts to ensure he didn’t hurt too many innocent people. She even offered him alternatives to help with his violent urges in Hopes (which he ultimately rejected in favor a jail)
Oh god, just the idea of another Imperial lord turning Jeritza into something akin to Grim Alex from Dishonored 2 is heartbreaking T_T

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Continued from my last post.
I cleared Chapter 3 and recruited the Ashen Wolves from Abyss on all three save files.
- More interesting character insights! On the Black Eagles file, I am again reminded what a precious bundle of nerves and neurosis Bernadetta is, and I enjoy the emotional conflicts between Hubert and Ferdinand over how to best service Edelgard and between Caspar and Petra over the former's father killing the latter's. On the Blue Lions file, I am amused by Annette's clumsy antics and fascinated by the conflict between Dimitri and Felix plus the related conflict between Dedue and Felix. And on the Golden Deer file, the relationships Claude, Hilda, Lorenz and Marianne all have with one another are great, as is the emotional conflict between Ignatz and Raphael over (again) the former's parents causing the death of the latter's. And of course, the Ashen Wolves are all fantastic, being unique representatives of all four factions (Church, Empire, Kingdom and Alliance) while also being their own faction.
- Because Lord Lonato is Ashe's adoptive father, I was sadistic and brought Ashe in as my mission assist character on both the Black Eagles and Golden Deer files, meaning he had to help kill his father on all three playthroughs! But that brings me to an interesting point: since the Black Eagles version of White Clouds was written first, they thus established Lonato as a character first and then created Ashe as his adopted son afterward; they would do the same in connecting Annette, Mercedes, Sylvain and Felix to Gilbert, Jeritza, Miklan and Rodrigue respectfully. But Ashe is a unique case in that....there's really not much purpose to him after this event. When you consider that the rest of the Blue Lions are the tightly-knit group of Dimitri, Dedue, Felix, Sylvain and Ingird plus the bestie duo of Annette and Mercedes, Ashe feels glaringly out of place. I don't mind the kid, but he's kind of a throwaway character.
- Speaking of Lonato, I'm not entirely sure how sympathetic I find him. His gripes with Rhea, Catherine and the Church of Seiros are absolutely valid, and while some other characters give him grief for involving the commoners he reigns over they are clearly following him of their own free will so I can't share their view. But on the other hand, he will flat-out try to kill his own adopted son when he's only trying to talk him down and reason with him, and in the Golden Deer version Claude says he and his insurgency would have ravaged all the small villages of innocent people on their march to sack Garreg Mach. Perhaps he was being manipulated by the Western Church, but Lonato ultimately seemed to let his grief over his eldest son blind him to everything else and make him go about things the worst possible way.
- As much as I love the Golden Deer route, I'll admit that it has the weakest scene following the battle. In the Black Eagles route, Edelgard reveals more of her character and how self-aware she is about the paradoxical nature of her philosophy: no hesitation or backing down from those with unreasonable views of justice that causes them to do terrible things "for the greater good" while also acknowledging that she isn't really any better since this requires her to risk the lives of others and take morally dubious actions in the name of what she considers "the greater good". Dimitri in the Blue Lions route, meanwhile, anguishes over this very philosophy and desperately wishes to believe there is another way, one which avoids bloodshed. Him noting that the insurgents killed were "fathers and sons" particularly highlights his own personal trauma from the Tragedy of Duscur, while him being against slaughter in the name of an alleged just cause hints at the shame he feels over what his kingdom did to the Duscur people. Claude, meanwhile, just loredumps, and it's information that you could find out elsewhere (ex: the first Support between Claude and Lorenz already discusses Claude's heritage and situation in the Alliance). Hilda at least brightens the scene up when she comes in, showing that she's more shrewd and perceptive than she lets on.
- Ummm....
Tumblr media
So yeah, with this horrifying theocratical insight, Rhea's getting even more interesting.

Felix's S support is so unhinged I love it.
First of all, he's one of only 2 characters who confess somewhere other than the Goddess Tower. The other guy? Jeritza. The DEATH KNIGHT. If there is a binary category, and you find yourself on the same side as the Death Knight, with nobody else there? That's a red flag. You're weird, Felix!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we know this isn't a case of him already being in the training grounds and Byleth stumble across him. He asked Byleth to meet him and waited, then launched into his marriage proposal. The training grounds are his safe space.
His proposal? "IDK how else to get you to spar with me forever. All out of ideas. Just, left with no choice but marriage."
Tumblr media
After telling Byleth he loves her, when she tries to respond he immediately says
Tumblr media
Like his first response after showing a MODICUM of vulnerability is to go on the defensive. There's the joke about characters kissing the way they fight but this guy flirts the way he fights.
He also threatens Byleth in between proposing and confessing (in that order) but seems to remember halfway that its ungentlemanly
Tumblr media
This is probably more due to the limited animations of the game but. The Felix Point.
Tumblr media
He remembers his manners enough to say Please! But not enough to remember that you shouldn't bring up death while proposing.
Tumblr media
But the craziest thing is that his cutscene art shows a surprisingly romantic and tender pose for him
Tumblr media
He's committed to a kabedon in an attempt to save his edgelord badboy reputation, but he puts a hand on her chin. It forces her to make eye contact, but the touch is very tender. I think it's also because he demands honesty from her - if he stares directly into her eyes, he will know the truth of whether she truly accepts him.
And it's because
He actually seems surprised when Byleth agrees to marry him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's like you can hear his internal screaming throughout the whole thing. Until the very end. It's the classic fanfic
Oh.
What an irredeemably awkward, cynical mess of a man. What a legendary fumble. He pioneered NEW WAYS that to screw up a marriage proposal. And walked away from the encounter with a goddess-wife who can turn back time.

I did Crimson Flower first in my Three Houses run and... honestly, Edelgard wasn't even remotely as convincing to me to join her as the fact I'd get to fuck Jeritza.
Beresu I've chosen for the job grew up in Ardesian Empire and I've definitely leaned into Ashen Demon idea as much as possible, so what I've got was a merciless butcher, not a revolutionary firebrand. I expected Edelgard to be this scary red emperor with the grand ideas that justify the means, I expected the vibe of Nine Inch Nails' Survivalism, but instead she's an absolute dork and Hubert does everything morally dubious for her. It reminded me of Corrin in Fates on Nohr path and it definitely did not endear me to her.
Generally speaking the only interesting bits were Jeritza (love this man, best girl) and... maybe Hubert. Honestly speaking, with the way Hubert acts I expected him to be a Flame Emperor after seeing Edelgard. I just genuinely don't get how Crimson Flower Edelgard can be even remotely convincing - she's scary in White Clouds at times, but then it's nothing but dork, dork, dork, Beresu I hate rats, Beresu my path is stained in blood despite the fact I can barely reach any enemy in my automatic promotes and Hubert, Jeritza and you kill most of the enemies instead.
She's idealistic, but it's never really shown how much she's willing to mow down people for her ideals - we don't see destruction, we don't see any particular drama. The only bits closest to it were me deliberately not recruiting any non-BE students aside from Mercedes, Anette, Marianne and Lorenz. Killing these students felt like something, but it isn't really enough and it's entirely optional.
she's scary in White Clouds at times, but then it's nothing but dork, dork, dork, Beresu I hate rats, Beresu my path is stained in blood despite the fact I can barely reach any enemy in my automatic promotes and Hubert, Jeritza and you kill most of the enemies instead
LOL
I don't remember having the same movement issues with Hector when he was promoted, but damn if Supreme Leader's prf class was a nightmare, she was behind people and didn't have enough def to act as a suitable tank - she's supposed to be a player phase unit, but she doesn't have the mov stat to do so...
Granted, it was my first run too, so I missed on the heron festival event and didn't get a dancer :( but I played it before Emile was patched in, and, in a way, I thought it was on purpose - Supreme Leader says she'll explain everything to Billy later on, when they see Emile fighting with them when the BESF attacks the Monastery, and nothing is ever explained post TS - much like how the war was supposed to get rid of Rhea because she has scales, but come the post TS and we're not embarking on the MAGA ride, to conquer Fodlan!
Corn at least, in Conquest, spent more time angsting at the casualties and blood shed - to the point some players found it uncomfortable - Corn notable tried to save people or reacts strongly when Scarlet is Hans'd (just like Sakura's army? I don't remember that well).
It's less artificial than Supreme Leader who only says this in some support lines, or when she's alone with you - her lines feels more like a compulsory thing to say, a box to tick, than a regular reaction. There's nothing similar to Corn's distress or at least gambit to try to spare the defeated soldiers, instead, we have a round of hypocrisy because Rhea BaD when she doesn't let people evacuate the city before turning it in a giant bbq - when we have Emile on our side and when other routes reveal the battle of the Monastery happens so fast after her declaration of war that the CoS doesn't have time to evacuate all of its residents (+Emile saying the grounds around the monastery are battlefields too) in the other routes.
Hubert is still the best part of CF, even if I sort of grew somehow interested at the students insulting Billy when they chop them off - sure my interest later died, but Judith's JP VA lit screaming and crying when Ignatz and Leonie died, Inoue!Rhea's lines delivery, everything bar the BESF itself managed to make the "we must kille people we knew sad uwus" hit closer to the mark than the onion scene, aka the one where Supreme Leader cries after beheading a defeated, and on his knees, Dimitri.
But I agree, it's almost if all the pathos that was supposed to be triggered by the "kill your students :'(" from the game went to the CF enemies, rather than to the other routes casualties.
"We killed Ferdie professor :("
Watch as I gave a fig, Ferdie dies in a map where he is fielded with a Demonic Beast iirc, aka a Feral One. If Ferdie doesn't see anything wrong fighting side by side with a Feral One and doesn't have the same circumstances Lorenz does (granted, even those circumstances are mushy) - especially since it's possible for Ferdie to defect since that's what he does in SS - I legit feel less figs that when we had to kill a retreating Judith, or an Ignatz or Leonie who were defending their homes - hell, even Hilda who, against all of her words and previous behaviour - finally puts her life on the line to protect someone.

I saved some screenshots of the paired endings I got on my switch, so let me list some of the ones I remember:
In Verdant Flowers I got:
Claude and Lorenz
Marianne and Hilda
Raphael and Ignatz
Cyril and Lysithea
Ashe and Caspar
Male Byleth and Yuri
Felix and Leonie
Sylvain and Ingrid
In Crimson Flower I got (I replayed the last few chapters to get extra endings):
Female Byleth and Edelgard
Petra and Ashe
Constance and Jeritza
Linhardt and Caspar
Hubert and Bernadetta
Ferdinand and Dorothea
Constance and Hapi
Edelgard and Ferdinand
Female Byleth and Jeritza
Mercedes and Jeritza
Ferdinand and Bernadetta
Edelgard and Hubert
Female Byleth and Sylvain
And in Azure Moon I got (I didn't screenshot these, but I remember a few of these. Also, I still have that save file. So I can revisit it):
Ashe and Dedue
Male Byleth and Linhardt
Felix and Sylvain (I think)
Dimitri and Marianne (I think)
Annette and Mercedes (I think)
So there you have it! All the paired endings I know/am pretty sure I've gotten! I'm aiming to get more on Silver Snow, and I'm also hoping to replay Azure Moon at some point (so I might get more there too). But for now, these are all the endings I've gotten.

🔥Avatar-only love interest that least deserves 'queer rep' label
Ugh, I can only pick one? The actual answer is every single one of them with the exceptions of Japanese Niles and Rhajat because they at least get variable scripts acknowledging that Corrin is pursuing same-sex relationships with them. I'm not really a fan of either those ships, but the bar is very low here.
I assume that the half or so of Engage's Pact Ring conversations that resolve non-romantically are also off the table, although they could be read into if one were so inclined. (I am not.)
In that case, let's go with Jeritza. He has zero same-sex support options of any sort in both games aside from the Avatars, and the "chemistry" of his Byleth supports consists of Jeritza using violent murder as a proxy for sex in a way that doesn't exactly read as metaphorical. This on top of his surprisingly conventional marriage ending with Constance in Houses make it quite easy to read him as straight but open to getting impaled on Byleth's literal sword even if he's male. In retrospect I wish I'd highlighted the Constance ending in my gay ranking video; it might have saved me a few negative comments.

How does it inform litteraly nothing that a queer person, and woman in a society that specifically oppress women, is fighting so adamantly against it? Like do you think the "my bloodline end with me" and "I want someone exterior as an heir" comment or just litteraly being against an eugenist sexist society is just here for the funsie?
And you're dismissing women queerness. Why LGBTQ+ representation seems only matter when it's men? It's obvious you and most other complaining wouldn't say the same if there was fewer bi women than men. And let's not mention the ratio of bi men/bi women is just 3/4 by Houses and 4/5 by Hopes, poor men who suffers from such a wide wide gap I guess.
what i mean by “edelgards queerness informs nothing about her” is that this is not a narrative about queerness. this is not a story where it is a focal point. there’s certainly misogyny, and reducing people to their genetics—but this is also a setting where women hold power? the diety they worship is a woman, the head of the church who arguably holds the most collective power across the continent (which edelgard rightfully disagrees with) is a woman. this is an intensely eugenicist society, and a misogynistic one sure, but this is also like. not amazing for anyone involved? (this is in fact the basis for sylvain’s entire fucking character. see: syl/mercie supports.)
if i’m dismissive of edelgard’s queerness it’s because she’s written as a very player-sexual sort of character. she’s canonically obsessed with byleth regardless of route and gender. in 3h proper all of her explicitly romantic paired endings (not counting subtext, which is heavy in the case of like, dorothea) are with men save for byleth. which is an issue i have with her writing and not her being a bisexual woman obviously.
also lmao as if intsys would ever put in more queer men than women, like this is a big-budget video game from devs whose previous bi options were yandere stalker lady and depraved bi killer. why would anyone give them the benefit of the doubt here. there’s more bi women in fe3h bc, like, girls kissing hot. hashtag gamers. it’s not about male rep being “what counts” or whatever. but again, of the three guys in 3h who are bi, two of them are dlc! (yes jeritza is free dlc but hes in one singular route, for only like half of it, and i think he’s fun but absolutely not good gay rep lmao)

Rise of True Unified Fodlan Chapter 3: Battle Against Epimenides
Couples: Shez X Monica, Byleth X Edelgard, Dimitri X Ingrid, Claude X Hilda, Scileth X Jeritza, Bileth X Sothis, Timmy X Annette, Ferdinand X Dorothea, Dedue X Mercedes, Marianne X Linhardt, Lysithea X Felix, Bernadetta X Caspar, Leonie X Lorenz, Petra X Ashe, Balthus X Hapi, Yuri X Constance, Catherine X Sharmir, And Ignatz X Flayn
The Path of Scarlet Blaze is about to change as, In the past encounters, there are 4 Byleths and Monica Saved Ingrid And Rodrigue secretly because she felt it was necessary. Now Arval suggests to Shez to tell The One he loves that he wants to meet them. This is right before The Battle for Ailell aka The Valley Of Torment.
[This is it. This is the battle to destroy Epimendes and to free Arval from being forever a revival method of Epimenides. Also Arval and Sothis will both join in. Background Song is Iku City (Welcome To The Darkness Stage) from Chaos Legion.]
Epimenides says “You shall not win against My King.”
“Arval?” Shez says.
Suddenly magic comes flying down and it is Monica and Arval.
“Wait if you are Arval, who is this?” Shez
“My Creator, Epimenides.” Arval says.
“Traitor!!!” Epimenides says.
“You created that magic that Eats out your body, Epimenides.” A Girl’s Voice says.
“No, How could you be here?” Epimenides says
“I can access anywhere as long as it‘s connected to Fodlan’s Ground which is the half-sphere’s Connected part.” The Girl who made her appearance known says.
Epimenides says “Sothis, If My Vessel Won’t kill you, then I will.”
Shez Growls and Shouts “Down with Rhea! Down With Those Shadow Slither In The Dark! Down with Nemesis!”
The 3 With Him Shout That as well. The Battle Begins with the four of them fighting the 3 Vassals of The 3 Nations Of Fodlan. Then They are moved to Battle THe 3 Leaders of The 3 Nations of Fodlan.
“Remember they aren’t real.” Sothis Reassures.
When They make it to epimenides they battle him for a minute but then he summons Shez and another two, which is surprisingly Monica and Byleth.
“That proves these Shadows aren’t real. Take Down The Fake Byleth, Shez, and Me.” Monica says.
They strike down the Fake Monica and Fake Byleth easy. The Fake Shez is acting weird though.
“This is how you should have been after all this time: After All The Byleth Twins Took Down your previous company.” The Fake Shez says.
Epimenides can’t help but laugh at the sheer perfection her new creation will be for her.
THe Real Shez growls and activates awakening mode but now it glowing pure gold and Shouts “I will never be like you. This Body Is Mine!”
The Real Shez then Takes Down His Fake in a combo of epic proportions, When The Barrier around Epimenides falls, Shez Charges at him and Blasts Him down with a combo that ends with his awakening finisher.
Epimenides says “Why do you resist me?”
“You should know. The Future is Ours to Make.” Shez says while finishing him off once and for all.
Arval then starts becoming his own being with a golden aura.
“Arval’s Power is now for Both Shez and Monica to use against Nemesis and his forces.” Sothis says.
The Half Sphere disappears around Shez and Monica.
“The Name of this army is True Unified Fodlan!” Shez and Monica shout.
This is agreed by A Shout of The armies.
TBC…

Even though Hopes was actually not very good compared to Houses; we gotta appreciate how it mixed up a lot of things and brought a breath of new life to the fandom and I am forever thankful for it even if the rest was not the best for many charcters, what do you think about it?
hi anon, thank you for the ask! oh boy where do i start-
first of all, you should know i LOVE musou games. i love smashing those buttons and defeating hundreds of eniemies. so, when they announced three hopes, i was THRILLED.
but maybe my expectations were a bit too high.
(spoilers about all the routes and endings)
i think the story is fine, but it could have been much better. i like shez, no, i love shez as a character: theyre silly but strong, determinated and yet loving. i like that theyre dubbed, i like their quirky and yet silly comments, i like how they flirt with some characters and yet are completely clueless, and the female VA did a WONDERFUL job. also, i simply ADORE arval. theyre so sassy i always laugh when arval says anything. the dynamic between shez and arval is written better than the one between byleth and sothis imo. (i love sothis too, but i feel her relationship with byleth needed more screentime)
but shez has a problem. (well, actually two.) the first problem is that shez isnt byleth. shez works well with the majority of the cast, but not with the three lords (a bit better with edelgard but still meh). shez's presence in the war doesnt make much sense as byleth's one did in three houses: the fucking school closed like two WEEKS after the lords met shez, they didnt have the time to bond and to know each others as byleth did (cuz, yk, byleth was their fucking teacher for a year). so, even if i like shez A LOT, their presence in fódlan war seems a bit off to me. i wish shez was in a different game overall.
the second, big problem of shez, is that we get to know almost nothing about their past. but this is a writing problem, not of the character themselves. i wanted to know who their mother was, why they are arval's vessel. RIP dlc i guess
about the three routes:
azure gleam: oh boy. OH BOY. the most disappointing of all. i LOVED the first part, for it explores much better all the kingdom's issues and we get more informations about the tragedy of duscur. but, "and then?". i'm gonna be honest dear anon: i dont remember much about the second part of azure gleam, just this big sense of disappointment. i'm actually re-playing it right now, so maybe i'll be back here in a few weeks. anyway, i do remember liking the fact you can save jeritza here tho, mercie deserves her little brother back!
scarlet blaze: the exact opposite of my thoughts about AG: scarlet blaze is a GREAT black eagles route. dont get me wrong, i liked crimson flower (its actually my second fav route of three houses), but being it the shortest one i always felt it was missing something, aka the fight against TWSITD (since, yk, we dont fight them in CF, they just defeat them offscreen in the ending cards. wtf). and in scarlet blaze we got it!!! also edelgard is better written in SB: shes still resolute and yet willing to *not* kill almost everyone on fódlan (i have Opinions about the ending of CF but another time). i never liked how edelgard sides with TWSITD in three houses, and im glad she didnt in SB. i mean, lets kill those bastards gurl!!!!!
golden wildfire: LMAO. ok i must admit i have a big problem: i dont like the golden deers (as a house; i like some of them alone, like marianne and lysithea), and claude is my least favourite lord, and i think verdant wind is the worst route of all three houses. so, GW was the last one i played. aaaaand. it is better than VW! i liked how claude allied with edelgard to defeat the church! i liked how claude is a little bastard plotter in there! as for AG, i think the first part of the route is much better than the second part (if you dont recruit byleth, judith dies in a dumb way just like rodrigue..... claude-routes-dont-copy-other-route's-things challenge). overall, i think GW is much better than VW, bc i think VW i just a weak copy of silver snow (sorry claude)
about the supports overall: some are cute and i like how we get supports between characters that didnt have ones in three houses, like bernadetta and marianne, or bernadetta and dimitri, or ashe and flayn.
and at last we've come to the elephant in the room.... byleth. how did they treat byleth in my opinion? short answer: terrible. long answer: terrible, because byleth doesnt have supports (except for shez and jeralt ikik). like WTF!!!!! give me supports with the lords, at least! let me see the byleth in this timeline, where they arent a professor, where their father isnt dead!!!! and why did they make byleth the ENEMY?? and we can recruit them too late in the game! GIVE ME MY PROFESSOR BACK-
the (one sided) rivalry between shez and byleth doesnt make any sense. "ohh the ashen demon killed my merc company >:[" says shez, just to admit five minutes later that they didnt really care about that company. and yes, okay, shez wants to prove everyone (themselves included) theyre stronger than byleth. thats fine. but here too, shez lets the matter drops too fast. "i will be stronger i will kill youuuuu- oh wait the lord wants you to join our side of the war. guess we're bestie now!". most of the time (before we actually recruit byleth) i get the feeling shez doesnt really give a fuck about the ashen demon, and this could have been okay, IF THEIR RIVALRY WASNT THE POINT OF ALL THE TRAILERS???????? their relationship is not explored well. shez's initial resentment doesnt make any sense bc THEY THEMSELVES say they really didnt care about the company. SO, if even the new protagonist, who was supposed to hate byleth, doesnt actually hate byleth, why make byleth the antagonist in the first place? why do we have to fight byleth? just to have a different fódlan story?¿?¿?
and i'll shut up about how they treated my dimileth in the game. you dont want to open this pandora's box dear anon.
so, the summary is: the gameplay is great bc i love musou games. the additions to the lore are pretty cool. i like that claude has his own original route that makes sense, and that edelgard got a much better written route. byleth deserved better. SHEZ! is fantastic, and arval is one of my fav character of all fódlan games. also i think arval and sothis should kiss
thank you anon for the ask, i enjoyed writing my thoughts on three hopes! hope i didnt bore you to death lmao
