#sci-fi ice elemental vibes

hi!! omg sorry if this is a long ask but I've just recently discovered the if and ohmygod i love how atmospheric and descriptive your writing is!! im also getting very strong cyberpunk 2077 vibes, like when i read the intro when the mc was in the ice bath i was like omg is mc a netrunner???? anyway, im curious on how you decided on/came up with the scifi elements in the story (like the SocialLink and the SpectraAug), i feel like with scifi stories there are always elements (like virtual reality and cybernetic implants) that are always present, but was there any other niche tech that you wanted or are planning to include in the story?
hello! I never thought of the merc as a netrunner but i can see it now 😭 that wasn't really smth I considered before.
cyberpunk can be seen as a bit of an inspiration, not storywise maybe but I really loved the vibes of the city and characters and among a couple other inspirations it really has had its influence on rywd.
you're right that certain inventions are just things that always come up in the sci-fi genre and prosthetics and the sociallink were inspired by some of the things I've read about or watched in shows. I rmr watching altered carbon and thinking that the wrist watch ortega has was such a fun device to use instead of a phone or anything else to call her partner and wanted something similar in rywd. it doesn't fully take over all the jobs of a phone but a great deal.
I do have some other things in mind that I might end up including (mostly to do with the entire body hopping the merc does) so I won't go into detail just yet :) the story isn't set too far into the future to go full altered carbon or minority report (some other media I look at for inspo) but some elements that are similar or the like could end up being mentioned in game as time goes on. I wanted the game to feel a little more grounded in reality however.
thank you as well for the sweet compliment and the ask! I had fun thinking about it for a while. <3

do you know what the writers had in mind as models or influences when coming up with the second impact? I'm wondering if there's a link to "At the Mountains of Madness", either as a direct acknowledged influence, or maybe at one step removed, an influence of an influence.
A good question! So my first-order response to the Lovecraft element is going to be "no", for two reasons, but with the caveat that I have never seen any document specifically stating it one way or the other. The first is that (to answer the other part of the question) the Second Impact is not something that there is a lot of "behind the scenes" documents on. As its backstory its not a topic that comes up in interviews a ton, its not mentioned beyond its establishing facts in the Evangelion Proposal or (from what I have seen) production notes, etc. It lacks that elevated importance for us to get real answers on why its designed the way it is. So I don't have any real sources on, for example, "Why Antartica".
The second is that Hideaki Anno did not read or overly like western sci/fi & fantasy authors. Given Eva's positioning in the sci-fi genre he was asked, very frequently, things like "oh how much did Arthur C Clarke influence you or what do you think of Cordwainer Smith" and his response is usually "I don't read any of that shit lol". His influences are other anime & things like tokusatsu. So if I made a bet on "why Antarctica" for example, I would point to the ice planets in classic space anime, or even Anno's work on Nadia which has episodes in Antarctica. Or just a convenient way to flood the earth and get the apocalypse vibe. Lovecraft is not an influence I have seen the core team cite.
But as for Lovecraft being "in the water", that is a very different story. Lovecraft was very popular in Japan - even in the pre-Cthulhu boom days. And just like in the US, Sandy Peterson’s Call of Cthulhu RPG launched a boom in Lovecratian interest in Japan upon its translation & release in 1986. Manga adaptations, direct inspirations, references in other works, and so on are present in Otaku-adjacent media in the 80's & 90's. Chiaki Konaka (writer for Serial Experiments Lain) was a big Lovecraft fan and definitely drew from that for the work he did on tokusatsu series Ultraman, which Hideaki Anno loves enough to direct a film entry for last year.
And At The Mountains of Madness as definitely available in Japan, having been translated more than once into Japanese by 1990. It even has a full manga adaptation in the 2010's, if that appeals! So while I doubt you will ever be able to prove anything, the idea of Antartica having a touch of the horror vibe via serving as a tomb for dead gods being a culturally current idea, influenced in part by Lovecraft's works, seems as valid a guess as any to me.
As always, there 100% could be an interview out there I haven't seen that directly addresses this, would love to hear other's thoughts!

hey arwen, long time no see!! hope you're doing well! 💜
i know nothing about txf besides what i've gleaned from this hellsite which is a) mulder is a lovable idiot, b) scully both loves him (almost against her will??), and c) they literally invented shipping BUT tell me about your top 5 txf episodes!!!
hi mitali i have been EXTREMELY patchy on here lately haven't i lol. local woman appears on tumblr to write ten meta posts about the x files and then disappears again! i'm doing okay; my real life has been kind of chaotic (had to last-minute cancel a trip i have been desperate to go on for years so :/ but! on the bright side it means i get to see my flatmates sooner than i thought and i miss them even though i've been gone from my flat for like a week and a half lol). how have you been???
those are very accurate txf vibes but i will say that scully is a very active and willing participant in being in love with mulder even though he can be very very stupid at times lol. i hope you watch it someday- i think it would be right up your alley! kind of similar doctor who ecological niche of being weird, heartfelt, politically relevant sci-fi with no consistent quality or tone.
ANYWAY. top 5 txf episodes, bearing in mind that i've technically only watched up until the end of the fourth season so far; i'm just a ho for spoilers:
pusher (3.17)... what can i say about pusher that i haven't said already. a lot, probably, because every single day i log on here and i see someone's written new meta about pusher that makes the entire show make more sense. it's just... it's txf distilled to its barest elements. it's about trust and codependency and a supernatural force that is made all the more unsettling by the fact that at its core it is just some guy. it's funny and terrifying and heartfelt all at once. the russian roulette scene changed television
clyde bruckman's final repose (3.04) is also just so txf. darin morgan (the writer) tended to write episodes that were so absurdist they wrapped back around to satirical, but this is far and away my favorite of his because it's not too bonkers. i love coprophages and from outer space especially, but clyde bruckman is a little more grounded, and it manages to be sarcastic and sincere in equal measure. and i love when scully gets to solve the mystery
irresistible (2.13), which is famous for being pretty much the only txf episode where there isn't actually an x-file. and it's SO fucked up. it is hands-down the most fucked up episode of the entire sh- well. besides the episode that they banned from reruns for like a decade for being so fucked up, it's hands-down the most fucked up episode of the entire show
beyond the sea (1.13) and paper hearts (4.10) are thematic sisters so i'm keeping them together. they're both about choosing to move past grief instead of wallowing in it and choosing the future over the past. so what if a criminal says they can give you the answers you've spent your whole life chasing? what matters is that you're at your partner's hospital bedside when he wakes up from an injury, or that you save a little girl's life
right now? probably ice (1.08), because i just rewatched it with my flatmate (who is going through s1 for the first time and is almost as obsessed as i am). it's like if midnight doctor who and the thing had a baby. normally i think this slot would go to duane barry/ascension/one breath (2.05/2.06/2.08) or nisei/731 (3.09/3.10), which are the tightest, tensest episodes relating to the show's overarching mythology
honorable mention goes to elegy (4.22) because the a-plot is a very 90s depiction of neurodivergence and it's not the best-handled thing i've ever seen, but the character showcase of scully in the b-plot gave me fucking brain worms. i cannot stop thinking about it. it's haunting.
also, memento mori (4.14). vince gilligan and gillian anderson you're splitting my therapy bill
ask my top 5/10 anything!!!

Kiznaiver - Anime Review via Polyamorous Lens
Tumblr media
I watched Kizaiver long before I knew what polyamory was and ever since I learned this series is one that sometimes comes up as having polyamorous themes. So I rewatched it to scan it for how pro or anti polyamorous it is.
A basic overview of the series is that a group of teenagers are experimented on and altered so that they share each other’s pain receptors. It is hard to bring this series up without mentioning the Netflix series “Sense 8” as it has an extremely similar concept. Course the execution of this plot is very different. As a minor spoiler, eventually they not only feel each other’s physical pain but also emotional pain, especially in terms of heartbreak as affections are confessed and rejected.
Let me talk about the negatives first or the anti-polyamory themes. In the end, the romantic relationships are pretty harshly monogamous, although I could argue one execution of such is at least fairly cute in a way that a viewer could imagine a non-monogamous solution after the series ends. Mid-way through the series it implores a series of lover triangles and other shapes as you get a complicated diagram character A likes character B who likes Character C who likes Character D and so with none of these affections going the other way. While they learn to maintain friendships though them, they are still fiercely monogamous and protective of their endgame romantic relationships.
Now that sounds like a lot of negatives that paints this show as a very pro-monogamy only show. But on the other hand it does touch a lot upon the concept of close friendships between an umber of people that are more than friends but not quite lovers. I believe at one point they might have even said this kind of relationship might be stronger and more important than lovers. While the “showing” of the rest of the series kind of contradicts that “telling” it is still an ice concept. As a representation of a platonic polycule this actually succeeds quite a bit. Despite romantic pair-bonding being involved it is very clear about how all of the main characters do end up really caring about each other in a chosen family sort of way. A lot of anime has strong themes of “friendship” but this series really does seem like it puts forth a legit effort to show something more than your typical friendship and show a relationship structure that is slightly outside the norm. Throw in the supernatural sci-fi element of being able to literally feel the pain of every one else in their group and I think you do get some large polycule vibes weaved into the series.
My verdict is that the series will disappoint if you are looking for romantic non-monogamy it does tell a great story of strong comradery that transcendence simple friendship between a fairly large group of characters. Putting the frustrating romantic drama aside you do get a wholesome story of multiple platonic bonding which may be relatable to aromantic polyamorous folks. Overall it is also just a very enjoyable series to watch and has strong emotional weight to it.

Thoughts on Starfinder’s Pact Worlds Setting
So I went back and bought the Pact Worlds sourcebook as well, because the hints of the setting from the Core Rulebook were intriguing. I have not regretted it. There is an awful lot of fun stuff in here. I’m only partway through, but some thoughts so far:
The Sun is fucking cool. Even just the option that the sun is an interactable location in the system is fantastic. The Burning Archipelago is such a cool setting element and idea. I love Verdeon so much, this bubble city given over to horticulture and pleasure gardens in the surface of a star. A giant greenhouse with floating planting platforms, some angled straight into the sun’s burning light for extreme heat-thriving plants, and others angled outward into space for more shade-loving plants. Beautiful pleasure gardens, again, hanging inside a star. It’s fantastic.
Also, continuing the theme of solar horticulture, the NatuReal corporation with its orbital jungle boxes full of plant monsters and incredibly well-protected corporate HQ-slash-company-town in Fireside would make a great villain for an adventure. Investigating the oopsies in the jungle boxes and trying to figure out if there’s a more sinister pattern underlying what’s going dark (or a PC/NPC character who survived one of the ‘going dark’ incidents and wants revenge-slash-answers) could wind up with a party trying to do a heist on a fortified corporate HQ inside a fucking bubble city floating in the sun. Which, let’s be real, would be fun.
(If this has shown up already in an adventure, feel free to tell me!)
Verces is also really fucking cool. It’s not the planet I thought would be as cool as it is, but there’s a lot to work with on Verces. The whole tidally-locked thing, and the wildly diverse landscapes and timescapes that enables, are amazing. The perpetually night Darkside and the viciously sun-seared Fullbright, with the full cyberpunk equator-spanning city-belt in the middle, are a spectacular way to get a lot things going on on the same world. You’ve got full on (genuine, entirely literal) Mad Max, Warlords of Barsoom going on in one corner, cyberpunk terrorist shenanigans in the middle, and then John Carpenter’s The Thing on the other.
My horror-loving heart probably does love the Darkside best, naturally. This frozen evernight wasteland of ice and blood. The artificial lights of mining rigs and industrial platforms looming out of the ice and the darkness. The horrific creatures out on the ice who’ll bind you alive inside their bodies and slowly drain you of blood while you still live. The fucking cenobite monastery of terrifying ascetics who let frostbite eat their limbs so that they can be wired directly and bodily into starship drive systems. Verces’ Darkside is less Hoth, and more The Thing meets Event Horizon meets Hellraiser meets Chronicles of Riddick. I’m vibrating. It’s incredible.
(Sidenote: I’m not sure on the timing here, but is it possible the Starfinder writers were taking some notes from Sunless Sea/Skies? There’s a couple of things on Verces that give me definite Unterzee vibes. Lempro and the intis in particular give me Whither/Codex vibes. There’s a lot of influences apparent in Starfinder, I’m catching pieces of so many of my favourite sci-fi/horror/fantasy canons, so I’m just idly wondering)
The Diaspora may well be my favourite of all the Pact Worlds. If you want space. That full kind of working-class SF, roguish SF, asteroid miners and smugglers flying junkers and the wrecks of derelict starships, the Diaspora is for you. The Expanse, Alien, Event Horizon. Godfall from Sunless Sea. The Millennium Falcon accidentally hiding inside the maw of an asteroid worm. Magnetic Rose. Captain Harlock/Queen Emeraldas. If you want to find strange objects and eldritch mysteries floating silently in space. If you want space pirate outpost-cities hidden in asteroids. If you want starship nomads on mobile trade and repair outposts servicing miners and outlaws. If you want vast mining facilities hanging gently in space. If you want underground slave-liberation movements hiding in the ‘mountains’ (asteroids) away from civilisation. If you want vast ship’s graveyards inexplicably bundled around innocuous points in space. The Diaspora has it all. It’s incredible. I would play a whole game that was just dootling around the Diaspora doing odd jobs and stumbling into horrifying mysteries. If Paizo ever wanted to make a Starfinder video game, set it here. I will play it.
Within the Diaspora, The Hum is so fucking good. Look. Vast fields of wrecked and disabled ships orbiting around a weird anomaly in space that makes them lethal to go near is a trope, it’s a fucking good trope, I love it a whole hell of a lot. A madness inducing anomaly that pulls people in and makes it near-impossible to escape is a fantastic mystery to just put there. Can you do anything with it? Maybe not, not survivably, but it’s an excellent thing to just have be there, a known weirdness and danger to shipping, a piece of the lore of a place.
I also really, really love the Farabarrium. A ratfolk trade and salvage barge made from a salvaged warship that they just took over, there’s vibes of Star Wars Legends in there, but also just … Ysoki are one of my favourite races, and them just operating a stolen/salvaged mobile garage/gas station out of a repurposed dead warship in this backwater area of space does something happy for me.
The fact that the Diaspora has significant quantities of ysoki, dwarves and sarcesians, three species that are rapidly coming to be my favourites, also does not hurt its place in my internal rankings. There’s a lot of just good stuff in the Diaspora. Mystic rivers that flow inexplicably through space. Rat-run flying petrol stations. Vacuum-capable player races with solar wings. Monasteries that are not-so-secretly worshipping Nyarlathotep. Strange wailing insane asylums/prisons that drive people insane and may involve the King in Yellow. Dwarven asteroid-cities. Robot liberation movements. The Diaspora is such a perfect intersection of so many things I like. It wins. It has to win.
But I still have six planets to go, so maybe we’ll see. Heh. This is a very fun setting. Also, I suspect I may be showing my tastes in fiction over here.

🚀✨ Hey there, fellow storyteller! On the hunt for a roleplay partner? Look no further. Together, we can dive into fresh plots and breathe life into some rad characters. 🌛🌠
Let's break the ice: I'm a 34-year-old female roleplay enthusiast from the CET/CEST timezone, with 15 years of roleplaying under my belt. My sweet spot is MxM storylines, though I'm open to FxF and sometimes MxF – provided we're challenging the usual norms.
To me, roleplay is like an open world video game. We've got the freedom to weave intricate plots, build characters from the ground up, and sculpt backstories that make our hearts race. My focus lies in creating multifaceted narratives and delving deep into our characters' worlds. Real life situations, character development, emotional depth, darkness, and even NSFW elements (that's right, no-holds-barred smut) – are all fair game. If your thing is authentic, gritty relationships rather than sugary fluff, then we're a match!
The stage for our stories? Well, that's entirely up to us. Cyberpunk cityscapes, high-fantasy kingdoms, adrenaline-fueled pirate voyages, intricate historical dramas, expansive sci-fi universes – anything's possible. I'm also down for tales of the apocalypse, disasters, and even some good old Western action.
My fandom interests are varied, including Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Titanic, Stranger Things, American Horror Story, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Interview with a Vampire, and Lord of the Rings. I've played a range of characters over the years:
Thranduil & Boromir, Lord of the Rings
Sirius Black, Lucius Malfoy, Fred Weasley, & Rita Skeeter, Harry Potter
Cinna, Hunger Games
Adore Delano (as a character, not the real person), RuPaul's Drag Race
Cersei Lannister & Jon Snow, Game of Thrones
Recently, I've been really keen on exploring Billy from Stranger Things. While I have a repertoire of preferred characters, I'm flexible and more than ready to venture into new territories, whether that's different fandoms, original settings, or uncharted characters.
Outside of roleplay, I appreciate a good chat about our characters, storyline, or even our latest Netflix obsessions. No rush, though. I'm a relaxed responder (both OOC and IC) and hope for the same laid-back vibes from you.
As an active part of the LGBTIAQ+ community, I'm all in for crafting diverse narratives and characters. If you're on the same wavelength, hit the like button or slide into my Tumblr DMs. Let's create something awesome!
If 'what if' scenarios – like 'What if the French Revolution happened in England?' – get your gears turning, I'm here for it. I'm all about exploring various themes and genres, especially those that delve into darker and more mature content, including some dead dove. Once I'm invested, I dig deep and savour exploring every facet of our story, big or small. I can write both on Discord and Tumblr dash.
So, what's the verdict? Ready to start this roleplay journey? Give me a shout! Your next adventure is just one message away! 🌌🚀✨
Like this post and the asker will reach out!

A human/Azi lana hybrid.
Tumblr media
Genetic modification in the ULE is… complicated. It’s way easier to simulate projected changes in a plant or a dog, for instance, than in the human brain. And if, despite the computer simulation, you get it wrong, well… if it’s a plant or a dog, you can just try again.
When it comes to sapient species- humans, Azi lana, and such- it’s much easier to do something like replacing body hair with feathers, or adding a tail, or lengthening arms, than to completely overhaul bodyplan and anatomy. So while the former is common in some places, the latter almost can’t be done.
But while mere sapients cannot grasp the complexity of their own bodies and minds, they are not the only intelligent beings in the universe. Superintelligents are vast minds with the power to understand and grasp every aspect of the sapient brain. Though many are unconcerned with the happenings of mortals, a few have helped sapients along their way.
One superintelligence, Anwarth, has gone above and beyond for local sapient nations. Their portfolio includes blueprints for sapient robots, a brain implant that acts as a universal translator, and perhaps their crowning achievement: an algorithm that can create a functional person from DNA samples of entirely separate sapient species.
The GECCAI algorithm, as easy to use and consistently successful as it is, is the relied-upon method for creating hybrid offspring between two alien parents. Though all hybrids are created to do the basics- eat, move, communicate, etc- the different biologies of their alien parents means their own anatomy can be quite exotic. Both this and the inherent sterility of hybrids has sociological implications for their way of life.
More about the Azi lana | more about hybrids in the ULE | more about the universe

Halo ,I'm kinda new to romance club and I just finished the rott season 3 and waiting for the new chapters, but I literally have no idea what to read while waitinv ,can you give any suggestions?😌
Hi, welcome to the RC fandom and thanks for the ask!! I will make a list of the stories I would personally recommend and enjoyed the most during my RC journey:
Must read stories:
Theodora: It's the best outgoing story in my opinion and the writing is top quality ❤️ the genre is historical drama with supernatural/fantasy elements <- highly recommended ❤️
Arcanum: It's horror genre and the MC is one of the best in the app, one of the most mind-blowing stories here.
Legend of the Willow: It's mostly based on Japanese mythology and folklore with fantasy elements and this story really transports you to their world which is based on ancient Japan.
Shadows of Saintfour: Horror genre, the story is very clever and at the end you'll realise how everything was tied up. Also if you liked Choices It Lives you may like this one too.
Sails in the Fog: The genre is adventure and it has elements of prehispanic mythology too, very interesting story.
Other stories worth checking out too are:
Gladiator Chronicles: I HIGHLY recommend it, it's the only RC story with male MC so far so let's support it. Also the story is so good!! The genre is sci-fi with Roman elements (a very interesting and original combination). Plus the LIs in this story are all top tier ❤️
Sins of London: the genre is mystery, it's set in Victorian England and it has some elements of celtic mythology, plus the MC is very charismatic and one of the best.
Heaven's Secret: Genre drama, fantasy, it's about an academy of angels and demons.
Path of the Valkyrie: Since you read ROTT, I assume you like mythology? Then you may like this story since it's about Norse mythology and very well executed.
Love from outer space: This one is sci-fi genre and it's a very fun and chill story, the friend's group is very wholesome and gives found family vibes ❤️
Heart of Trespia: The genre is royal drama and the story is very intriguing, the scenes are very well written and really convey the emotions, plus it has equal screentime for female LIs!! and equal ratio too, 3 male LIs, 3 female LIs.
Kali: Call of Darkness: It's set in India and the genre is mysticism, mystery and horror. This one is controversial but the LIs make it worth it, specially Ratan and Lima, tho I'm very intrigued by the new LI Amrit too, I'd recommend checking it out and forming your own opinion.
Chasing You: The genre is detective, this one has some problematic topics too and many can feel uncomfortable about it but the characters are really well done and funny, I love their banter, I'd also recommend checking it out and forming your own opinion.
On thin ice: The genre is drama and tragedy (maybe). This story is very good and I enjoy it a lot but it covers very heavy topics, like s*xual assa*lt, addiction and so on, the story is sometimes hard to deal with so IF you're depressed or sad then perhaps reconsider whether reading it or not, I would mostly recommend reading it if you're in a stable mental state, but as always it's up to you to decide.
Those are pretty much the stories I enjoy the most in RC, I hope my list can give you a better idea on the stories and help you find one to your liking!! ❤️

Day 2: AU get me out of here - places to go when canon is complicated
It’s Day 2 for @roswellnewmexicocreate, time to celebrate those stories that I turn to when I can’t deal with canon, or when I don’t have the emotional energy to untangle all the emotions I have for what’s going on in canon. Alternative universes, the safe harbor for us. Below are a mix of rewrites of canon, remixes of canon, or out right not even set in Roswell- to fill every type distance you want from canon- from near to far.
and the howl of the desert carries me home by @christchex/ @michaels-blackhat (4,334) Alex runs into the desert to escape from his father with his guitar clutched to his chest. He plans to spend one last night playing before his father destroys it. Instead, he meets a cute boy with flowers in his curly hair and a lizard on his shoulder. He exchanges a song for a smile.
why i like it: I love everything about this story. Michael is totally a disney princess, and what a lovely way to save him from foster homes, but have him run away to the desert and use his alien powers to build his own little protective world. Looping in Nora’s plant powers like that, giving Michael a little animal friend, I love it all, but the show stealer is Alex Manes, playing music to coax the mystery boy out. It’s just incredibly soft.
***
Heartbeat series by @adiwriting (133,000 - in progress) During the lost decade, Alex gets Michael pregnant and Michael doesn't see or hear from him again for the next four and a half years. When Alex comes back to town, he discovers he has a daughter with Michael and they all have to figure out how to be a family.
why i like it: it has it all, installments with angst, installments with fluff, I can find whatever mood I am in by just pouring over this incredible series. I really don’t even like mpreg, but in RNM, with aliens it seems a little more probable to me and bless Britt, she goes light on the details but heavy on the kid aspect of it. I absolutely love Alex in this story, he’s richly characterized as a man who is trying hard while wandering unfamiliar territory like aliens, like being a dad, like being Michael’s boyfriend, and he doesn’t always get it right, but he’s loved regardless.
***
tonight we are young @skinsharpenedteeth (8,137) Alex and Michael ditch the Evans' New Years Eve party to find their own fun and Alex gets his New Years kiss...(the underage tag is because they're both 17 in this.)
why i like it: I’m a sucker for teen!Malex, especially stories that take place before the shed. I love this little AU where Alex is thinking about making a move, but hasn’t yet. They are both adorable nervous babies, this feels very much how a softer teen!Malex first time would go. Perfectly characterized here, you can just feel the hopeful vibes they have at 17. I like to believe nothing bad ever happens to them again.
***
you shift on a gear (it’s been a long year) by @backinmybodymp3 (28, 362) “Good morning,” Michael says. “What the hell did you do?” Alex asks, exasperated. (or: There were times, in some of the lower moments of the past however-many-days it’s been, where Michael had thought about what it might’ve been like to share this time loop with someone. He never imagined— well, he never imagined it’d be Alex.)
why i like it: I love time-loop stories! And this is just superb. The friendship dynamics of everyone involved, the Liz/Max wedding, Michael being a good brother, Michael trying so hard to keep this bullshit from dragging Alex in and then Alex being his usual reckless self when it comes to Michael, I absolutely dig this canon-divergent au. you can feel how much the author cares about everyone on the show in this story, and they really nail the Malex dynamic. This story came along just as season 3 did and it’s a true antidote to the malex drought on screen.
***
the library by @arielana (9,657)  Alex had stopped too far away to hear exactly what they were saying, but their voices did carry over to where he was standing. The guy’s drawl had a melody to it that was vaguely familiar, but much deeper than the voice it reminded Alex of. God, that and the hair really brought some memories back.  Just as Alex told himself to stop secretly staring like a creep and walk over there, he turned slightly so that Alex got a glimpse of the side of his face.  Fuck!  Fuck, fuck, fuck! Twelve years ago Alex left Roswell to join the Air Force, nursing a broken heart and promising to never return. When work brings him back to New Mexico he runs into someone he’d been sure he’d never see again.
why i like it: the first kiss in the UFO emporium was groundbreaking, but I have to admit, I love stories that explore the almost-happened, where Malex reconnect as adults without the shadow of Jesse’s attack. I love how sharp Alex is in this story, he has all these walls as an adult built from that first rejection, but then he’s so completely unprepared to reconnect with Michael again. The clownery in this story by both of them is perfect! I also totally love Forrest as a gay best friend for Alex, trying to wingman Alex, that cracked me up.
***
stellar light based life by @jocarthage (30,651) It’s not a memory if it’s something you see every day. It’s a trigger and it’s not one Alex wants to ever let go of.Alex saw Michael disappear into a blinding blue light, soft 17-year-old body pulled back into some kind of impossible vortex -- one hand, outstretched.
why i like it: another submission from 2020 RNM Big Bang, this story just wrecked me. I can’t even really put into words about how it hooked me and basically lives in my head now to the point I often mumble the first line to myself. Anyway, this AU takes a right turn at the shed attack, and goes full force scifi and tragic separation, I love it. In so many ways it reshapes Alex’s life but the core of who he is never changes, there’s so many great science geekery details about Michael’s planet and the astronaut journey that Alex takes, plus SANDERS... anyway, this is a fandom classic for me.
***
Crossed Wires by @beautifulcheat, @ladynox (15,351) Michael's been kicked off more than one Starfleet posting. So when he learned he was reassigned to the USS Roswell, he decided that he would keep his head down and behave. This decision is immediately thwarted when he meets her hot Vulcan captain. This might be the first time Michael got kicked off a posting for flirting with a captain.
why i like it: Star Trek AU? I’m pretty easy. Seeing elements of Kirk and Spock’s tragic backstory blended into genius mechanic Michael Guerin and ice prince Alex Manes was amazing. I love how it’s serving with his family that brings Michael to the Enterprise, his bond with Max and Isobel was chef’s kiss good. The blend of Michael’s powers and Alex’s biology - I loved the balance even if it came with its own misunderstandings, but hey, this time it was cultural! lol
***
I’m still here by @vague-shadows @pippsmcgee  (35,928) Treasure Planet AU in which Michael is the gifted young delinquent who found a treasure map, and Alex is a space pirate pawn in his Father's obsession with riches and legacy.
why i like it: I’ve never seen Treasure Planet, but I didn’t need to thoroughly enjoy this AU. This was the perfect mix of angst and sci-fi adventure, where the authors managed to make the shed even more horrifying. Jesse Manes is the absolute worst in this story, the levels of obsession he goes to find a treasure, and then Michael on his own collision course - the ability to write tense action is a gift, and it’s on display in this story. Cyborg!Alex took up a place in my heart and still lives there, where he only gets the nicest things.
If you like any of these recs, please leave a comment on the story or a kudo- a  ‘this was awesome’ is enough to propel an author into the stratosphere with happiness, so don’t worry about coming up with a unique, never before shared insight- sometimes a keyboard smash and emoji makes all  the difference!

Devil Town soundtrack
If Devil Town was a TV show what would it's soundtrack be like? explanation under the cut for @rebelpeas
warning : it's long and also SPOILERS
The soundtrack for any show is meant to be an extension of the story itself; Because it's one of the main senses we rely on if it doesn't fit the immersiveness is significantly impacted.
So i tried to compile a list of songs i felt were most suited to Devil Town's central themes. First thing to keep in mind was that Devil Town is a small town horror AU but it also doubles as a sort of family drama where a clean break reveals all the other fault lines running across the bone.
So i divided the playlist into two parts-one is reserved for the human v/s human interaction whereas the other is reserved for human v/s inhuman interaction
All the Sinister OST tracks are for human v/s inhuman interaction (the forest mainly). A friend once told me that it's score was the most terrifying they ever heard in a horror movie and yk what? they were right
After i heard it i couldn't really use any other OST to represent the corruption that had spread through the town. It's just so distinctly unnerving and hey if it fits it sits! Of course life is never that easy (if you got my ask yk) and so halfway through the track Mr. Boogie we suddenly go from something's-crawling-up-my-spine to a weird EDM jam that you could probably dance to.
it ruins the vibe so just pretend the tracks end before that part of the song comes on.
All the Shiva baby OSTs are for human v/s human interaction-mainly the sbi. You have relationships that hit the brakes abruptly so everyone is tense around each other. They don't know how to react now that they're all back together minus one and so their conversations in the beginning are clipped and filled with resentment. Shiva baby really fits that. Shiva baby was actually made for that! (you should check out amanda the jedi's video to get a better understanding of what i mean) The Chernobyl OSTs are for the church and the mine, Ludor for the former and 'The bridge of death' and 'waiting for the engineer' being for the latter. They're creepy as hell and fit pretty well because they aren't very on the nose. There's something wrong with these places, something rotten below the surface. And with the ones for the mine it just...gives the feel of being all alone in this giant empty space. Except you're not alone :)
The DARK OSTs are meant for the search for tommy; Anthracite also falls under this category. DARK actually shares a lot of key thematic elements with Devil Town but it being sci-fi makes most of it's soundtrack unusable
This is because sci-fi horror and supernatural horror are distinctly different in their scores. Sci-fi horror is distortion heavy-Annihilation's main theme being a very very good example of this while Supernatural horror is dominated by string instruments-cellos and violins and the like.
The songs with lyrics are meant for exposition and montages and such, some diegetic (can be heard by the characters) and others not. You know how shows do this thing where they use a song that starts in universe but slowly turns non-diegetic or the opposite where you think it's in the background but it's actually diegetic? That's pretty cool imo
i imagine wilbur and quackity sitting in the diner while 'My body is a cage plays over the speakers'. Or when sapnap makes hot chocolate for karl and big Q after their stint in the woods; i imagine him turning on the radio to lighten up the mood and 'It's happening again' plays (rip sapnap the radio doesn't seem to like him very much)
(a fave of mine is when they use music as a memory gateway. Imagine that scene where sapnap and quackity go to get ice cream and he turns the radio on and that music transitions to a flashback with the feral boys when they were younger like ohhhh that's the good shit bro)
Devil town is a fic that i think i'll cherish forever. It's just so wonderfully written. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours and i hope writing always makes you happy

ctrl-shift-Mata Nui
So, the first thing in building an alt-canon, at least that I'm going to ponder here, is the setting. I love Mata Nui: it was arguably part of what made me love Bionicle in 2001 and the loss of which contributed to my general disconnect from the franchise that slid into my Dark Age.
But... if you're rebuilding a story around "all the LEGO sets I own" and those sets are Bionicle and you generally want to retain what real-canon that you can, which is more important: Mata Nui or the GSR?
I think, if you reduce it to either/or, unless you're willing to prioritize 2001-2003, the answer would have to be the GSR.
It doesn't have to be either/or, and with the existence of multiple Tahus (to say nothing of other characters), the story has already implicitly changed enough that you can jettison some canon story, which you won't be able to retain, if it helps you keep setting.
So, the two, story and setting, can't quite be discussed separately. Thus, to begin:
Mata Nui, closely resembling the canon version, being a tropical paradise in open seas beneath which is the hidden city of Metru Nui, the gateway to the "Matoran Universe," definitely exists.
I put the MU in quotation marks because:
I really think "universe" is a bit much for describing a robot, though I understand how the name developed in realtime.
Mine is not a robot, so shouldn't be confused with the real-canon.
At some point in my headcanon elements of the Atlantis myth got swept in. Obviously, the idea of Metru Nui as "the Lost City" has some bearing on the matter. So does the vibe of Metru Nui as a retro-technological haven, not unlike Atlantis: The Lost Empire or the (slightly later) Stargate: Atlantis, both of which were very much my jam. (The ur-Atlantis of my imagination, Tolkien's Númenor, does not appear to have much influenced me here.)
But slightly predating these, in 2003, I wrote a story about my LEGO figs, starring Johnny Thunder, Dr. Cyber, and a cast of dozens, where the Arctic figs found a white Akaku buried in the ice of Greenland, which led them on a long quest to find the lost island-continent of Mata Nui, and the story ended with it rising from the deep.
This version--the last Bionicle alt-canon I committed to writing--doesn't really stand anymore, but it testifies to a long-standing Atlantean flavour in my Bionicle enjoyment. With this in mind, the narrative space that the GSR fills prior to us discovering that it IS a robot does exist in my alt-canon, save that it's not a robot. It's an underground Lost World.
In general, betraying both my preference for fantasy over sci-fi and my love of the earliest Bionicle years, my alt-canon is more magical than the real-canon. That, and how I see mask powers, elemental powers, and more in that light is a post for another day. The long-past fall of the "Matoran Universe" below the waves, much like Platonic Atlantis, is probably due to the hubris of its lord's and was effected by some even-greater power. Perhaps this was the Great Beings (also another post).
Regardless, the outer world is now largely barren and devoid of civilization (the Agori still dwell on the continent on the far side of the planet, not completely without technology--but they are the rude tribes of Neolithic Europe next to lost Atlantis). The island of Mata Nui, raised over the lost city, is the connection between the lost world and the outside.
The interior of the lost world can remain a map that is roughly humanoid, but I haven't considered it in detail yet. Voya Nui, broken off the old Northern Continent might still be within the caverns of the Lost World or it might be, like Mata Nui, a literal island (though here a part of the cataclysm that destroyed the old empire). Mahri Nui and the Pit is even easier to imagine,at least for me, in this cartography. Karda Nui fits geographically, but it is mixed in with Av-Matoran, which I have not yet fully considered.

Prompt 2: It’s Christmas and since Easy is still stuck in Bois Jacques in Belgium, Joe Liebgott decides to share a Hershey bar with Chuck and Tab as a present. Prompt 3: We all know that Luz and Perconte ended up in a barn to steal eggs, but what happened before that scene? Who even came up with the idea to begin with? Prompt 4: It’s 1946 and word reaches Bill that Joe Toye is really struggling with the loss of his leg. He decides to show up at Joe’s place unannounced with Babe and together they will do their utmost to make sure that Joe cracks a smile. Prompt 5: After hearing Joe say that he could use some brass knuckles right before D-Day, Bill finds some for him.
@josephtoye AO3: corawrites Will Accept: Fanfic Prompt 1: Joe Liebgott & Floyd Talbert, one is trying to set the other up, or some other banter-y kind of situation Prompt 2: Johnny Martin & Bull Randleman, any historical AU Prompt 3: Buck Compton & Joe Toye, do with that what you will Prompt 4: Shifty Powers & Carwood Lipton, anything wholesome DNW: Any other characters, angst is okay provided it has a happy ending, no romantic pairings please
@churchkey AO3: churchkey Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: Don Malarkey & Skip Muck. Canon-era. Don's not in love with Skip , he just wants to spend the rest of his life with him. Maybe the two of them talking about their plan for being "together" (as besties) after the war. Maybe some cute "I've never told anyone else this before" intimate self-revelations. Maybe Don's reaction to Winters splitting them into different platoons. Basically I just want any chapter in the epic love story of their friendship. Prompt 2: Don Malarkey & Skip Muck Post-War Fix-It. Don's the best man at Skip and Faye's wedding, wondering how this is going to change things and if anyone will over love him the way Skip loves Faye (bonus points for background Don/Joe [Toye that is]; pining, long-distance flirting, whatever) Prompt 3: Dick Winters & Harry Welsh. Post-VE Day. Dick is crestfallen after Nix leaves. Harry feels bad for him. He really does. He's also kind of like "now you know how it feels, don't ya?" Still, he hates to see his friend suffer. Just a couple of sad, lovelorn bastards being miserable together. Prompt 4: Dick Winters & Kitty Grogan/Welsh. Post-war or Modern AU (hence you decide if she takes Harry's name). Would super love these two just doing some GBF things together, shopping, getting coffee, complaining about their husbands and trading gardening tips. Maybe the convo gets a little spicy after dark. Maybe they've each got some private dilemma the other helps to solve. Or maybe they just wander around a flea market looking for good deals on Fiestaware. Prompt 5: Lewis Nixon & Harry Welsh. Post-War. ROADTRIP! (Bonus for background Winnix but it's not necessary). DNW: anything sci-fi/fantasy; OCs; xReader; Tab
@how-are-those-nuts-sarge AO3: whoahersheybars_3up3down Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart, Other types of media Prompt 1: Historian AU - one character worked at a museum/was a historian before the war and geeks out over a few things while deployed to their friends = any character/s. Prompt 2: Penmanship - one character has lovely handwriting, but something/s hit them HARD during the war and they write much less pretty; with one of their friends' support, however, their hand steadies and they heal (lotsa metaphors there I know 😅) = any character/s. Prompt 3: Chess - one character teaches the other to play chess = any character/s. Prompt 4: Bicycle - one character finds a tandem bicycle in Austria and convinces the other to go on a ride with them = any character/s. Prompt 5: Anything with Bill & Babe, Malarkey & Skip & Penkala, or Dick & Nix, I love their friendship dynamics so much.
@speirstookmysoul AO3: speirstookmysoul Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart, Other types of media Prompt 1: mentor/mentee bonding Prompt 2: shoulder clasps Prompt 3: overdramatic arguments about non-important subjects Prompt 4: "getting mistaken as family and not correcting whoever’s mistaken”
@kmorecoffee AO3: vintagelavenderskies Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: gene and renee: diasastrous, chaotic cookie decorating! the rest of the gang can be involved too for extra chaos because who doesn't love chaos. anyways: gene and renee try to make holiday cookies but something goes awry. too much salt and not enough sugar? distracted and accidentally burn the cookies? luz plays a practical joke and switches out sugar for salt? go crazy! Prompt 2: gene and renee: stargazing!!! all the stargazing :) just two friends, vibing, talking about life and whatever comes to mind Prompt 3: can be modern au: chaos in the coffee shop! just the gang's shenanigans at the local coffee shop. mayhaps there's an ongoing bet of how long it takes luz to get banned? DNW: speirs. i mean, i guess he can be like mentioned or featured. but not too much speirs.
AO3: Muccamukk Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: Renee & Augusta/Anna: Any backstory about how/if they knew each other before, their different points of view on things. AU where Renee doesn't die and what they do after the war. Would prefer racism not be the focus of the story, though it can be an element. I like it when there's queer characters and romance isn't the focus. Prompt 2: Winters & Guarnere: Something with them getting to know/respect each other better set early in their relationship, especially between Day of Days and Bastogne. They have such different outlooks, but in the end very similar values, and I'd love to see that explored. Maybe they get stuck together and have to survive? Prompt 3: Randleman & Garcia: I'd love to see more of Bull mentoring the replacements, especially Garcia, and how their relationship changes as the replacements get combat experience and integrate with the company. Would love to see growing respect for each other. I like it when there's queer characters and romance isn't the focus. Prompt 4: Guarnere & Martin: They have matching tattoos! They got in so much trouble with each other and were so ride or die even post war! Bill went to Martin's wedding! Pat and Frannie wrote too each other during the war. I would love them getting to know each other, or small moments of affection. Or just write about Pat and Frannie. That's fun too. Or Bill & Bull & Johnny. Or Bill & Joe Toye. Basically any configuration of this is great! Prompt 5: Powers & McClung: Basically them chilling in the woods silently understanding each other? Healing through chilling in the woods? Comparing their experiences as country boys on opposite sides of the country? Post war stuff where Shifty's so badly hurt and Earl's PTSD? I like it when there's queer characters and romance isn't the focus. DNW: Focus on character death (mention of canon stuff is fine), graphic sexual violence, hopeless endings of utter sadness, character bashing, zombies, AUs that change the setting (turn left AUs fine, AUs that add magic etc fine). PoV characters having strong racist or homophoic views.
@papersergeant-pencilsoldier AO3: papersky_pencilstars Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart, Other types of media Prompt 1: Airborne OT5 (Liebgott, Grant, Mcclung, Ramirez, Babe) missing scenes - can be fluffy or angsty (fallout from Chuck getting shot?), dealer's choice! Prompt 2: Mortar Trio - Early days at Camp Taccoa Prompt 3: Dukeman & Perconte & Tab (bonus Trigger?) teasing the replacements Prompt 4: Renée LeMaire  & Gene Roe- (everybody lives AU) connect postwar (I would die if this was a letter fic, but it absolutely does not have to be!) DNW: webgott (platonic or romantic background)
Prompter # 11 Will Accept: Fanfic Prompt 1: Dick, Nix, and Harry being involved in some shenanigans during their downtime in Mourmelon. Prompt 2: Bill and Babe reminiscing and sharing Philly stories. Prompt 3: The friendship between Smokey and Lip because I think it deserves more hype :) DNW: Nothing NSFW
@dansssks AO3: danesaber Prompt 1: Dick & Nix: The time they offered to protect Kitty for ice cream and Vat 69. Prompt 2: Spina/Babe/Gene: College AU? Prompt 3: Spina & anyone: They show Spina all their booboos Prompt 4: Mortar Squad: Any au, cannon or modern Prompt 5: Harry and Moose: Go sheep shopping as a present for Winnix on their new farm.
@anthrobrat AO3: anthrobrat Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: Any of the Last Patrol OT5 (Chuck, Babe, Lieb, McClung, Ramirez) owning a business together - coffeshop, bar, accounting firm? Don't care. Can either be a post-war or modern AU setting. Prompt 2: Skinny Sisk and anyone being bros during the war. Maybe him and Frank deleted scenes in Bastogne fox holes Prompt 3: Shifty & McClung shenanigans during leave. The cat story is hilarious, and I'm sure there are more, and I just love these two because they are so calm and collected but McClung is a total wild card. I would also take a modern AU of them being besties. Prompt 4: Shifty and Popeye being best friends after the war maybe? I just imagine them at each other's weddings being disasters. I would also take the two of them as friends in a modern AU Prompt 5: Any friendship prompt that gives life to the lesser known characters would be awesome imo. DNW: Speirs or Lipton as main protagonists.
Prompter # 13 Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: shifty powers and floyd talbert - mermaid/fisher au Prompt 2: babe heffron x reader - ice hockey/team manager Prompt 3: dick winters x reader - college au! tutor au Prompt 4: easy company boarding school au DNW: pwp/smut
@mercurygray AO3: mercurygray Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart, Other types of media Prompt 1: Harry + Nixon - marriage, divorce, and everything in between. Prompt 2: Shifty + Smokey - Guess we're not in Kansas anymore - or Mississippi, or Virginia. Prompt 3: Tab + Grant - Chuck's really just here to keep Tab out of trouble. Prompt 4: Bill + Babe - First jump's the hardest - and while the jump into Holland is easy, what comes after it is not. Prompt 5: Tipper + Luz -  Tipper's pretty good at impressions, too. DNW: Liebgott and Webster (as a unit; individually they're fine.)
@lyselkatz AO3: Lysel Will Accept: Fanfic Prompt 1: Any group shenanigans/friendship fluff including Skip, Smokey, Nix, Bull. Prompt 2: "The guys are stranded on base without pass (or requisitioned to work overtime to meet an important deadline/exams, if modern AU) Prompt 3: Smokey does his best to cheer his brothers up with his peculiar brand of silly (Valentine) gifts. Extra ❤ if Skip and George offer their help. Chaos and ensemble fluff ensue. (+ playing Cupid/background ships if you like)" Prompt 4: "Lieb and Hoobs are bored so they decide to troll Web. Since it's valentine's day soon they'll play crack!cupid for fun. Prompt 5: Web is a shark nerd and Pat has a great shark smile. Infallible logic, right? (Input from the other guys /ensemble shenanigans are welcome)" DNW: Nothing I can think of, since it's a friendship fest
Prompter #16 Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart, Other types of media Prompt 1: found family taking care of each other (feat. liebgott being happy and content <3) domestic fluff Prompt 2: anything fluffy coffee shop AU or flower shop or tattoo parlour or bakery or anything along those lines Prompt 3: university AU but they are the professors! DNW: webgott, fantasy AUS, omegaverse, mpreg, anything mafia related, not too much angst
Prompter #17 Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: Era switch: take the boys and put them in the Vietnam War. WWI? The Korean War? The American Revolution? Any conflict that you're comfortable with. Prompt 2: The Pacific AU? Put the BoB men in the Pacific. How they get there or why they are there is all up to you. Maybe their parachute infantry regiment was simply assigned to the PTO instead of the ETO after training. Maybe Japan didn't surrender as quickly as they did. Anything. Prompt 3: Supernatural AUs are my favorite. Preferably I'd love to keep them based in the WWII era, but you can switch it up if you'd like to -- I'd be fine with that! Any type of supernatural is cool with me. I'm aware this might be super vague but I really don't mind whatever you go with :) Prompt 4: Role-switching scenarios: putting men from within the series in each others' positions. DNW: Romantic shipping, characters (Cobb, Sobel, any higher ranking officers above Winters like Sink), modern-day AUs, aged-down AUs (high school/middle school/college with the purpose of aging down = no); a/b/o trope; nsfw (no sexual material; show-level gore okay).
@mariamegale AO3: mariamegale Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: Babe and Julian being best friends. They are snarky, excited, happy and having a good time together. Bonus if their boyfriends are Eugene and Spina, accordingly! Prompt 2: Baberoe. They're dating, but they're dating their own best friends. With romantic feelings taking the back seats, I'd love to see a healthy relationship of two people in love but doing normal platonic things because they're also each others' best friends in the whole world! Prompt 3: Roe and Spina being tired doctor friends, meeting up in between shifts or calls, being tired and exasperated and just having their sandwiches and a moment of god damn peace. Prompt 4: George Luz and Babe Heffron being best friends. They'd be a disaster, but that disaster that also knows how to step the fuck up if shit gets serious. But mostly they're a disaster. Prompt 5: Joe Liebgott and Eugene Roe. They're roommates, they're pals, Joe likes smoking weed, playing mario kart and complaining about whatever dipshit he's gone out with now, Eugene is trying to make it through med school and enjoys the soothing background chatter of Joe blabbering on about this guy's shirt, or whatever. DNW: Canon era (Ambiguous era is fine if you don't like writing/drawing modern!), Carwood Lipton, OCs, xReader stuff
@mizunoir AO3: mizunoir (but I use 49thpersona for reblogging stuff) Will Accept: Fanfic, Other types of media Prompt 1: Hogwarts AU! Would be lovely if it would include Babe. I leave it up to the artist if they would like to portray one specific house endeavours or all 4 houses befriending. Prompt 2: Stargazing, can be set in modern times or in the original timeline. For angsty interpretation it would be nice to read/see some Eugene and Spina bonding. Prompt 3: Stargazing (original timeline or modern times). For more crack-ish one it could include for example: Luz, Toye, Guarnere, Babe etc. But I leave it absolutely open - include whoever you want! Boys share their music taste. Bickering and reminiscing of the good times free of war ensues. Can be platonic, can be slightly shippy, AU or modern - up to the artist. Preferably including Babe with Eugene.
@thrillingdetectivetales AO3: ThrillingDetectiveTales Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart, Other types of media Prompt 1: Bill & Babe: Bill talks Babe through gay panic about his extremely obvious crush on one John T. Julian, convinces him to ask Julian out, and demands to officiate their wedding (not necessarily in that order) Prompt 2: Harry & Nix (with bonus Buck?): commiserating about trying to keep Dick out of trouble Prompt 3: Blanche Nixon & Ann Winters: they know each other because their idiot brothers are """"friends"""" but they both know what's up and cover for Dick and Nix at various times throughout their lives Prompt 4: Kitty Grogan & Franny Guarnere & Pat Martin: they meet because their fellas are on the line together and keep each other sane throughout the war Prompt 5: Floyd Talbert is everyone's best buddy DNW: No mpreg/pregnancy in general, no rape/non-con (dub-con like drunk!sex or sex pollen or hatesex is fine), no modern AUs, no ABO/dynamics, no kidfic.
Prompter #21 Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: Speirs & Shames: These stern, "unlikable" men are just not very social or nice, but they get each other. Outcast gay solidarity. Prompt 2: Kitty & Nixon/Winters: Nixon and/or Winters gets to meet Harry's special girl at last. Harry's made her sound like the romantic lead of a novel and really cool, and they are completely unprepared for the tall, awkward chess club captain. Prompt 3: Babe & Guarnere: Post-war readjusting of a friendship. Disability, marriage, kids on the way, Babe is gay. You know, the usual. DNW: xReader, OCs, hopeless angst, AUs, heavy focus on heterosexuality
@aloraundomiel AO3: ElfLadyArwen Will Accept: Fanfic, Fanart Prompt 1: Dick admires Eugene’s medical skill and always shows interest in learning from him while he’s on the job. Eugene uses it to his advantage, making sure Dick takes care of himself (because shaving doesn’t count) under the guise of ‘teachable moments.’ Any battlefield setting would work. Prompt 2: Nix and Harry are joined at the hip, two class clowns who wind each other up.  When one gets them into deep trouble, the other one is always there to get them out again. Prompt 3: Dick Winters is jealous of Ronald Spiers ruthlessness/ability to detach and athletic prowess. Ronald Spiers is jealous of Dick’s empathy and ability to earn loyalty through compassion. Each man agrees to give the other lessons in order to be more well rounded leaders. DNW: Please no Blithe. Never Blithe. You can leave out Compton too.
@bandofmorons AO3: bandofmorons (pseud for sonsofmahal) Will Accept: Fanfic Prompt 1: Babe & Lieb friendship!! I don't have a ton of specifics for this, I just want them being friends and getting into shenanigans but also being supportive of each other... like they're just guys bein' dudes but they're also pretty close ya know! They take care of each other when they need to! Ideally this would be a modern AU, maybe they're college roommates or something? Prompt 2: But mostly I just want to see them goofing off but also being helpful when shit goes down or something, because that's what friends are for. Prompt 3: Some kind of traveling AU with the 5 officers (Winters, Nix, Harry, Lip and Speirs) all as friends and how going on a big trip like that can strain a friendship when something goes wrong or just from people being tired from traveling so much... maybe it's a cross-county roadtrip, maybe it's spring break in Europe, maybe they're going backpacking in New Zealand or something.. I just wanna see how all those 5 boys' different personalities interact on a big logistical venture! Prompt 4: I'm not picky about who necessarily but I want to see Webster getting close to & forming a close friendship with someone in Easy! I feel like in the show/fandom he gets a bad rap for being pretentious (which, fair) but I think it would be awesome to see him becoming good friends with someone and feeling more accepted among the company bc of it. This could be a canon-compliant thing or it could be a modern AU where the boys are all friends. Background Webgott would also be cool as long as Lieb is supportive of Web befriending more people. DNW: explicit sex

Lofi-beats playlists *
So if youre anything like me, you're that bitch who just always jams to lofi hip hop on spotify and I have so many play lists its rediculous haha. But there are like dozens of post that probably liat the BEST ones but im gonna list my favorite ones.
Absolute Favorite: Ice Cream Sundae i am biased on this one because its a playlist I made while smoking the strain Ice Cream Sundae by Mt Baker. These life beats have very nostalgic and flowy light vibes in my opinion and its a shot one so if youre just wanting to chill for a min its a good playlist.
Good for the beach: Ocean Lofi i like this one when we sit in our car in front of the beach. It really is relaxing especially when its grey and cold (Oregon Beaches ftw) and we'll roll a joint and just kinda forget the world exists except for the ocean.
Cozy Gaming: okay so I actually have 2 for this-
Minecraft Lofi is a great one because it uses music from the actual game and songs that borrow the ambience. And if you love minecraft as much as I do you'll enjoy chilling out to this.
Gaming lofi is a similar payout to the minecraft one. It uses elements from lots of different video games!! Its fun to listen to and really dreamy
For computer gaming: Rick and Morty Lofi is great for not only fans of the show but fans of ambient beats that have a sci-fi touch to them like the music of Rick and Morty; they contain remix lofi versions of some of their instrumentals.
Okd school: for those who really like that old school music touch when it comes to your lofi beats and music; Old Songs but its Lofi has to be at my top 5 faves. Old movies and songs incorporated into lofi songs or beats has to be one of my most favorite artistic touches. And it could be because I have a love for things that are retro (I was wanting a record player in middle school when everyone else wanted an ipod-so happy I eventually got one) but I think it makes the songs more relaxing and nostalgic.
I have a dozen more but I just wanted to post a handful of em. Im sure there's some people who are just absolutely sick of lofi bears (or think they're too slow and sleepy) but Its some of my favorite music and I love all kinds of music. But my brain just feels good when I listen to these songs. Hope someone find something they like here :)
*some songs may be repeated on playlist heres, they're compiled by different people

I just finished AGENT CARTER season 2! (Actually a while ago, my bad)
SO IM GONNA TALK ABOUT IT (again)
FUCKING DAMN IT
SERIOUSLY??
We’re left with THAT CLIFFHANGER BULLSHIT???????
D A M N
Only because ABC wanted to put Carter’s actor in a generic law drama that was cancelled after 13 episodes
uugghhjkgkkkkgjhh
Okay okay, I actually liked the season!!! though a bit less than the first, albeit,,,
The introduction of zero matter gave it a nice sci-fi element, but for me, I personally loved the first season because it didn’t have much of that, and it focused more on the war
Don’t get me wrong!!! I’m basically a slut for sci-fi shit and robots, but it felt a little off-putting because of the vibe the first season was giving
Nonetheless, the storytelling was great and I even though the introduction of it was less than ideal for my tastes, the show still managed to get my interest and made it work!!!!
Also the counsel brought up some infesting plots with the corruption of the SSR and other stuff
ALSO also, frost is a bitch idk bout you fellas but like
damn
she ended up in a MENTAL HOSPITAL????? ok boomer we knew you were screwed up in the head but D, and I cannot stress this enough, AMN
Anywho, I did enjoy the general plot! (even though I DETESTED the love triangle)
(Seriously Peggy, it’s been like three episode and you’re smOOCHING IN A TELEPHONE BOOTH GOTDAMN)
Also
GET ME A MANS LIKE JARVIS HOLY SHIT
If I Get Married He Better Be Like Him
Jarvis best husband 2020 fr
I did really like the plot!!
Some interesting twists that were interesting to see unfold, and I had fun theorizing with my dad
My dad was also a little upset and the technology in the second season because he was like “no they would NOT have that how DARE they-“
It was funny to watch disodnskfnfkk
Also for the time period they conveyed the racial stuff relatively well! Which you don’t see in a lot of shows due to them trying to put a modern twist on it despite the time period of said show (kinda like how stranger things made the ice cream lady [whos name I can’t remember atm but she was a good character!] a lesbian, but back then [even though it was only a few dacades ago], someone would’ve been shunned for it, and people were far less vocal about lgbt matters [of course that doesn’t mean people WEREN’T vocal]. That’s just how it was, unfortunately, but it didn’t change my perspective on the show! [realizing later as I’m editing this that what I’m saying sounds kinda homophobic— that’s not my intention!])
The ending was, like the episode title claimed, “A Hollywood Ending”, and I liked it!!! Even if my dad found it a bit cheesy
I would’ve loved to see the return of leviathan, and I’ve got a feeling season 3 would’ve dealt with that if the show wasn’t cancelled, so I’ll be looking forward to the fics that I dig up!!
(Also thank you to the person who sent me a dm with some fic recs!!! i’ll def be digging into those soon!!!)

Human Verse
she was raised by her mother in los angeles, california. her mother is a very popular artist and internet persona. she comes from a very loving home, but having such an outgoing and charismatic mother became a bit of a crutch for her. she never really learned how to speak for herself, and was often embarrassed by the stories of her mother that were spread all over the internet. as such, andie became a very quiet and reserved sort of person. she values intelligence above all else, and went away very far for college as soon as it became an option. her main goal in life is to step out of her mother’s shadow and be her own person.
Supernatural Verse
she was raised between the moon and earth, spending time on both planes so that she had a strong connection to both sides of herself. andie always knew that she was in line for the throne, and this was always something that stressed her out greatly. as such, she all but repressed her abilities in hopes that her mother would think one of her other siblings was favored by the gods instead of her. as a teenager she ran away to the underworld and made friends with certain gods, namely persephone, hades and hecate. she was gifted with magical abilities during this time, choosing to focus on those rather than the celestial gifts that she got from her mother.
species: lunar extraterrestrial & human abilities: repressed celestial manipulation, active lunar and stellar magic

Note
hshhshdhd my wip is momento vivere and a random assortment of my characters are shrapnel, kyst, jonas, anna mae & avak'qid!
Okay so momento vivere is giving me fantasy vibes, gritty, maybe some sci-fi elements, rebelling, illegal activities,
Shrapnel is small and they have a lot of hate in their heart😔 giving me very intense
Kyst is soft !! Precious, but they are good at doing Illegal Things. I think u ship them w someone, idk who tho
Jonas. Been through too much :c they deserve so much better :c
Anna mae gives me nothing short of rays of sunshine and cottage core vibes and I think I'm wrong on this but I literally Cannot think of anything else </3
Avak'qid has weaponry they are good at and is a cool, laid back person. But deep down, they are icy🥶 not like iced up. Well I could see them being rich tbh
