Okay SO

(hopefully this will be shorter than my hortan hears a who post)

Quite simply, it’s due to the continuing plot line of manny’s issues around family. Like, it’s done in such a way in the first movie that it’s not too obvious when you’re a kid but as an adult it is glaring obvious how important family is to manny and his complex feelings on the matter, I mean, look at this screancap!!!!!

So in the first movie it’s established how important family/a herd is to manny and then in the second movie the main conflict is him struggling with his identity as a mammoth (and, realistically, a father) and his lack of family/a “proper” herd, and it’s even acknowledged by Sid and Diego too!! It’s a continual and well developed plot line that we see being actively worked through during the movie.

In the third movie we see him working through his anxieties on re-entering fatherhood and caring for a larger pack - if we wanna be real fancy with this we could call the dinosaurs an exaggerated metaphor for his anxieties about the world surrounding his yet-to-be-born child and his perceived need to protect everyone all the time (which is why Ellie is so good for him because she handles some of the mental load of him and reassures him) and whilst four is more for funsies and is less serious than one, two, and three we again get to watch his anxieties as a parent but also we get to see his development in trusting the rest of his family/herd

(I’ve only watched five like once and to my memory it’s completely for funsies so it doesn’t exactly support my point here but hey scrat goes to space isn’t that funny)

Anyways, everyone rewatch the ice age franchise this instance, good morning good evening and good night

and next in my literary analysis today: how the Ice Age franchise has some of the most complex and well written plot points I’ve ever seen in kids movies

From what I know, he just wears lots of white stuff. The sprite on Run Status got changed to something else a bit ago but it used to be exactly what I said.

So one of the things about Gauntlet Red is there's two main branches of lore. 1) that this is a reset timeline and Red has a chance to change things. 2) The kid isn't even named "Red", he's grown up in the Cult of Helix and was told he was going to be the next Red and bring the second coming of Lord Helix and whatnot and somewhere along the line, he said fuck dat shit. He was one of those kids who went off the deep end into full rebel nature after getting away from the church to a dangerous point

At the end, we were given free time to do Glitchmancy (there had been a patch in place before HoF) and we're told the game would either end when the timer ran out or we crashed the game.

And yeah, as Sol said, that was one idea to what happened after the crash. Red was checking out the glitches off the coast of Cinnabar, we ran into a wild Tentacool and I think the crash was caused by our Ditto, but I'm not sure. Either way, lore said he either lost out to the glitch and got possessed / corrupted or he drowned. Possession seemed WAY more likely when we did the Mt. Silver battle in Crystal where we fought Red0 and then suddenly he got replaced by original Red so Dippy had to take on both of them
