This one looks interesting. Though, now I'm curious what a version with rotational symmetry would look like.
Other than that, I had this idea for a language spoken by a group in a Minecraft world whose revere buildings and treat architectural features as sacred texts. What I'm trying to say is that I imagine the shapes above being stacked on top of each other while going through a hallway. If that makes sense.
Zwajengede
Name derived from Kazakh for "floor writing".
Each letter is symmetrical both vertically and horizontally (without rotational symmetry).

masai condescendingly referring to cleon as “miss”, and then a moment later cleon using it as an honorific when referring to cyrus, is such a slick way of acknowledging his hypocrisy without so much as breaking the flow of her argument
#from a character perspective it really emphasises the dual responsibilities she has as leader to a. be diplomatic but b. take no shit#and how incredibly good she is at walking the line between them#but also from an eisa and lin perspective it’s just such a clever moment of writing !!#it barely sounds like a rebuke until you realise she’s applying a word he just used to belittle her to the figure whose exceptionality#he’s constructed his entire worldview around#and reminding him that cyrus wasn’t a deity. she was a woman#just like the women he’s now baselessly punishing for her death#I may be overthinking it but at no other point in the script is she ever referred to as miss cyrus. so I really don’t think I am#warriors musical#warriors album#mine

Transformers - We’re Gonna Die
Jazz: Prowl? Can ya hear me? Prowl: Jazz? Agh, my helm. What happened? Jazz: Ya took a nasty blow but it’s alright. How are ya feelin' besides that? Prowl: Alright. My systems are at optimal levels. Jazz: That’s good. That’s good. Really good...Because we’re all gonna die in ten minutes. Prowl: WHAT?! Prowl: You tell me this now?! Jazz: I was tryin' ta ease ya into it, alright? Prowl: Lead with that next time! Jazz: [Wistful] Kinda sad that ‘next time’ isn’t even hypothetical.

Devera script, revised.
Been putting off the other two scripts until now (Devera and Ontaele) to focus on another project. I have failed to focus on that other project. So let's get something else done instead, and try again afterwards.
I'm happy with how this one turned out; was able to retain most of the ideas of the original draft, while also tying in some elements of the larger family tree. I find that I enjoy this process more when I let go of making a 1:1 phonetic script and embrace "okay what weird quirk have I accidentally created, and can I make it a feature instead of a bug?" And then all of a sudden it's not just a writing system, it's a writing system with a history.

Little PJO tv things I noticed upon my rewatches of it
But can't fit into my script of the PJO tv video™
When Sally and Percy talk in the cabin in Montauk, Percy is in front of mostly yellow/golden colors with bunk beds behind him, while Sally is mostly surrounded by blue tones. Hmm something something she symbolizes the familiarity of the mortal world (blue), and Percy is already belonging to a mythological world, separate from hers (gold).
In the same scene, the light of the fire (from the literal hearth they're sitting at, mind you), gets more agitated as they get more emotional. It starts off pretty stable then flickers more and more until Grover knocks on the door. Something something threatening family safety and peace.
Gabe says 'I don't know where your mom is I'm not Nostradamus!" Which is funny, because Nostradamus was a seer and Gabe is the voice of the Oracle at camp when Percy gets his quest.
Mr D's sunglasses have purple tinted glasses in them. I was wrong about it. They did, in fact, tint them purple/they were already purple tinted beforehand. However it's very subtle and I think if they could highlight the purple in the glasses, they could add an overlay to the actor's eyes. But it's not that big of a deal.
Sally and Poseidon both hold onto Percy's neck/shoulder when they directly acknowledge that he's theirs. Yeah that one made me sick when I realized they parallel each other. Also funny how Sally is bathed in golden light, and Poseidon is in cooler, bluer light. Hmmmmm. Also they're literally framed opposite each other oh my god this show is so fucking good I hate y'all for trying to convince me it wasn't good. Like:
Anyway, speaking of them, not only is there a gold window/wallpaper thingie behind Poseidon in the "I want him to know who he is" flashback scene in episode 7, which is obscured partly by the time it reaches Sally. When we see Poseidon glance at Percy, Percy is separated from him by a blue glass wall. Oooh and people thought this show was too obvious with its writing. Also the whole café looks like a ship. It's so ship coded. Ship pilled café.
Gabe and Poseidon are so eerily similar in little ways. Like not in a 'oh its because Poseidon is bad actually' way but it is interesting that show!Gabe gives 'We have Poseidon at home' vibes. (Same shirt, similar hair color and haircut although P looks far better than Gabe on purpose, loose pants however Poseidon has those Scandi-summer pants and Gabe has grey sweats, sandals--though technically we don't know that P is wearing sandals I argue, your honor, look at that man and tell me he isn't wearing sandals)
Oh, and they also both wear necklaces.
This one I did include in my script because I spent so long having to look at beer cans until I could find a clear shot of the ones Gabe drinks. But they made up a whole beer for him. Just for him. It doesn't exist. It's called Shotz. I don't know enough about America or beer to know if that's some kind of joke. It's also a malt lager. So. beer confirmed, however fake beer.
Hades is the god that blinks the most and I can't tell if that was direction or if its just a coincidence, either way, it's really weird that he's the only god that seems intimidated. What's that about? I can't wait to find out (hopefully)
Grover and Percy both receive affirmations and kindness from mother figures while father figures consistently offer tough love, and discouragement. Hmmm something something patriarchy matriarchy something something
Some of the cabins look to have second floors, yet cabin 11 has just one.
While the casino scene got a lot of heat for being 'least faithful' to the books, the VR games are actually in TLT...So there's that.
The reason Alecto's fight scene feels weird is because she's not aiming to kill Percy like she is in the book. She was asked to bring him in quick and quiet, not kill him. Percy, much like in the book, accidentally kills her. Whoops.
Lin Manuel Miranda's acting in episode 6 actually brings the immersive experience of being stabbed 87 times with a dull, rusty knife and people had the audacity to dislike his casting. That was rude.
In episode 2, Chiron's hand in Pinochle amounts to 10 points (2x 9's = 0, Jacks = 0 and a 10 = 10) So no wonder he's unhappy lmao.
This one might be super obvious and I'm just stupid/inattentive, but Luke's first full dialogue with Percy is: "I heard what happened on the hill. I know what you're going through, really." And yeah. Hah. :(
There is no way in Hades that Mr Brunner is pronounced like that. Why is it spelled like that then. I refuse to believe that. Grammatically, Rick, it makes no sense. Whatever.
I can't prove it, but I'm like 90% convinced the waterbeds at Crusty's are modeled after the gods? I might be stupid here as well.
I know I've talked about this before but what fucking protest at Olympus? What are we talking about. HUH???
There are others probably but I must go and think about something not PJO or I'll die. And keep in mind these are the ones I found while writing and went:
So you can imagine how deeply invested I am in the show by now lmao
#I have to finish the script by tomorrow btw wish me luck#I have no idea how I'm meeting that deadline I'm hoping ADHD does its thing#I will film by the 30th or so help me#I hope you like yapping about psychology and family and stuff#cause boy do I have words about this show now#and none of them are negative#ruh roh#the clout chasers on tiktok wont like that lmao#being constructive??? about an adaptation??? in this economy#its more likely than you think#guys this show#THIS SHOW#I LOVE THIS SHOW#AAAAAAAh#I cant wait for the video to finally be fucking done and have the patreon video up as well and just#I WANT OTHERS TO BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT IT AS WELL I DONT WANT TO BE ALONE IN THE CAGE OF LOVING THE SHOW ANYMORE#LET ME OUT#LET ME OUUUTTTT#the pjo video#🫒#percy jackson#percy jackson and the olympians#percy jackson tv#percy jackson tv show#percy jackson disney+

I too loved everything about Agatha and Rio this week ("she is my scar"--that's my shit!) but I do want to give flowers for how efficiently that relationship is connected to and contextualized by Alice's story.
Alice has spent a long time dismissing her mother and being angry at her, not seeing that Lorna worked as hard as she could to protect her. Agatha and Rio both immediately see it--Agatha is the one to put the pieces together, and Rio's the one who answers the question of "what were Lorna's intentions?" with "to save her daughter"--because, in some way, they are Lorna. They would do the exact same thing to try to protect their child (as we see Agatha desperately attempt to save/protect Teen later).
At the same time, like Alice, Agatha has retreated into anger to avoid grief. She doesn't, or refuses to, understand it was Rio's job to (presumably) reap Nicholas' soul. Alice has to "face" the curse and her own grief by the end of the episode, and likewise, Agatha has to face both her feelings for Rio and the truth about Teen.
This is just really smart writing; it weaves the themes of mothers and children throughout, has two parallel narratives about bridging an impossible gap in a relationship, and furthers the larger arcs of every character involved. Plus it's super gay.
(And they even throw in the bit about Jen's backstory as a midwife! More thematic weaving of motherhood and children--it makes a lot of sense that Agatha specifically would consider midwifery "important work" worth leaving someone alone for, as she said in Episode 3.)
#agatha all along#agatha all along spoilers#i've seen some discussion of the other characters being superfluous to agatha's real story#which i suppose is true in the sense that they're side characters#but i feel like it does a disservice to how the script is constructed--#we're not supposed to view agatha's development and the other witches' trials/stories as strictly separate things#i will agree that kathryn hahn and aubrey plaza have unmatched screen presence however#agatha harkness#rio vidal#alice wu gulliver

I finally figured out how to make a font!!!! yayyyy
It is a bit fat, and not that readable under font soze 16, but it's fineee this fineee this is like a caligraphic font. they're not supposed to be that readable anywayssss,,,
I made it using glyphrstudio, which is a very intuative web app, but it is a bit on the simpler side - which worked great for me 👍 also fontforge just doesn't work at all on my computer for some reason so I'm glad something did.
I won't go very deep into the letters, but here is abit about the punctuation:
a single dot, seperating words in a compound. equivilent to the dash and apostrophe in the romanisation.
double dots, separating words in a sentence. equivilent to a space.
triple dots, separating sentences. equivilent to a period. appears at the start and end of a sentence.

i've been thinking a lot about Suyaf and her love for playing and making music (i imagine she will once become famous throughout Sorka for her songs, among other things) which contrasts with her being a proud and strong nomadic warrior
with that i also began thinking about sorkish musical instruments, and so áyruk came to be (lit. "four-thing" in Sorkish, probably a clipping/simplification of áyurkoqhuk "four string thing"). inspiration drawn from bağlama and shamisen but i settled on four strings to try and be at least a little bit original. plectrum (sor. kóğan) is used when playing which is traditionally made from bone with a wooden handle but since bone is brittle, purely wooden plectra are popular with alternative, more aggressive play styles

Pronouns
(see my pinned post for vocab and other grammar)
this is a method to refer to the same instance of an already existing noun.
as of now, it is a block connected to another noun using a line of slabs.
this block is treated as another instance of the noun it is connected to.

“a player damages themself” vs “a player damages another player”
these can branch out in all different kinds of directions as long as the lines of slabs are unbroken.

“a mob (being referred to multiple times)”
the block at the end can be replaced with a stair to refer to something hypothetically while it still exists in reality.

“hypothetically, player A would attack player B. In reality, player B is just perceived by player A.”
