royal beasts cub is completely enveloped by the presence of his summoner, by a deep grief that matches his own, by a furious possessiveness

cub knows this touch is true

it hurts, it itches, it burns, just to try to think about it, but cub is so far beyond caring about pain or the way the world shakes apart in his senses

so far beyond anything but revenge and fury

cub pours everything he has, all of his magic, all of his energy, all of his emotion, into that purple spark

feeding it

he needs to feed it, so he offers himself up without hesitation

cub's limbs grow weak, his hand falls open

the spark grows into a bolt, into a blaze of power

into unruly geometry that somehow fills more space than the whole room has

cub doesn't notice his own eyes bleeding

just one more injury to add to the pile

but he doesn't have to fight anymore, so it doesn't matter what happens to his body

your part is done

the touch of that presence grows until cub cries out, voice torn from him even past exhaustion

the affection of this thing Watcher is excruciating

cub laughs, choking on the sound and doubling over

if this is what it feels like to be loved by this unworldly thing, then to be hated by it? cub can find some twisted delight in the knowledge that the thing that took what is his will experience agony far beyond what he could give

cub hears it screaming, hears every single cell of sculk cry out as this thing that moves in between reality purges each molecule of it from existence, one at a time, as it shrinks and shrinks, becoming simpler and weaker and seeing its own doom crawl closer inexorably

somehow, cub knows that it cannot be purged from the world entirely

but it can be reduced down to one singular cell, without thought or power, sent far far away, sent deep

where it will have to sleep for a very very long time before it begins Becoming again

and perhaps this time it will know there are things that are not to be touched. things more powerful than it, more motivated.

the sculk vanishes in a blaze of purple, leaving grian's mauled and dead body to flop to the ground, nearly hollow

the thing that is his true summoner curls tighter around cub, and he hope that it finishes the job consuming him

a fitting end, one last time to be useful when he's got nothing left to stick around for

Honestly i dont like sculk spreading/corruption storylines theyre really boring with a few exceptions

i don't think this is the very end of them dealing with corruption/sculk, there's five billion things that could happen after this, but even if this is the end of the "arc" for pangi or aimsey? i'm happy. i'm happy to see them recover. it may not be a 100% fix and that's okay too. they're moving past yet another struggle and bettering themselves! thank you god! happiness and joy wins forever.

that being said i am still a sucker for angst and i'm sat for whatever comes next, good or bad or whatever, and i honestly don't want this to be like a "fix" that reverts everything they've gone through — i'm still gonna interpret pangi and aimsey as disabled (ie their left eyes having been fucked up) tehe! i just like to see my favs heal...

51. share the synopsis of a story you've worked on but haven't published yet

this one may never be published because it's a fairly old wip, but it was a tr aimsey & pangi piece during the height of the corruption/sculk arc. essentially they find eachother late at night and have this really sad but half coded conversation about what comes next and their pasts and if they had more time etc etc. it all kinda surrounds that "what's your biggest secret?" question that aimsey asks everyone but never answers themselves & pangi being naturally dismissive of his wellbeing. and the corruption/sculk are always trying to kill eachother thing.... how they can't touch without hurting eachother.... just a very beautiful theme to surround a qpr i think

Shelby literally rewrites history, so much so that the Crystal Cliffs and Grimlands still live in s2. Count Fwhip and Grand Wizard Gem have mastered transformation and now live as "Familars" in the Evermoore. Tortiose is Shelby's real familar, but everyone assumes Shelby's just a strong witch with three. Fwhip goes by "Count" in his "familar" form, while Shelby lies and tells everyone that her familar-cat is named Gem because of her eyes, not because of the Sun Princess.

Fwhip's form is a bat, while Gem's is a calico cat with more orange and white than browns and black.

The familars can talk but they only do so when theyre alone w Shelby.

Witches & Wizards get along after the history-fix, and theres two rumours of 1) A time travelling witch who lived between the Crystal Cliffs and the Grimlands, and 2) That the timetravelling witch was Grand Wizard Grim's apprentice (half-truth)

Gnomes can be seen every now again, after being found 500 years post s1 timeline. The Overgrown became GlimmerGrove and was never cursed.

Shelby is covinced Kat will choose Joey now that she isnt cursed.

The Sculkby arc happens different (will be in teal when I get there)

Tortiose's vc will be Grian in the sense that he's like Count & Gem, a human who can transform into an animal. (Tortiose doesnt look like Grian, its just the voice claim in this au)

s1 Joel is s2 Joel. They are the same person, Joel knows who Shelby is, who "Count" is, and the truth of Gem The Calico. Not his secrets to tell though.

Shelby wears the Xornoth Crystal, which begins to absorb the magic of sculk – no one realizes before its too late for Shelby. When She's corrupted, its like a haze for her. He doesnt remember what he does under the corruption, but everyone else does. The arc is longer, and still ended by Sausage stopping them but he's helped by Count and Gem The Calico. They tell him everything from Shelby rewriting history to the crystal corrupting them.

The overall timeline for this au is as so:

s2 takes place over 4 years. One of these years, Shelby goes missing and history is literally changed. The year after is when Shelby's corrupted (He's corrupted in December of the first year, Back To December (Taylors Version) is the song for Nature Wives (s2) in this au for multiple reasons that Ill explain in pink)

The last two years are with Shelby fixing themself and healing from corruption – this also leads to Nature Wives going on their coffee date. Rather than 10 years post s2, wcsmp would take place 6 years later:). Shelby's 18 at the start of this au, and 22 by the end!!

Back To December TV:

The Princess Tea Party takes place mid-december and Shelby's corrupted earlier that month. She's still corrupt by the time of the party, and it still leads to the canon "fight" between her and Katherine. at this time, Shelby still has half of his mind intact and thats why hes so confused and doesnt know what to do anymore. When Katherine offers help, its Sculked-Xornoth who leaks out and into Shelby's voice about "You cant even help yourself!"

Fast forward to Late December of the next year. Shelby's no longer corrupted and his hair is white now. They stand at the Glimmer Grove castle after a year of avoidance and one-sided hatred from them. (Both have been avoiding each other, Shelby's onesided hatred was unknown to Kat but known to them)

January of the third year is when they go on their coffee date.

wow, there’s color now. took the opportunity to finish a sketch from last year, back when two of my favorite media were both having corruption arcs. and so, hunter inspired cub.

But what if, when she starts to get bored after the end of the crossover and the King Ren's arc, and Hermitcraft also became mostly building. She also starts provoking stuff "behind the scenes", like using sculk on a certain witch. She doesn't want to actively participate in the result of it, just to spectate.

Also, with watcher!Grian (don't worry too much about the specific lore, every AU I have read has different rules for them.), after the crossover he could be the one starting to suspect Gem of her shenanigans (that's his teritory), and warns Pearl of it.

Honestly Gem having a bit of a hand in Shelby being corrupted by the sculk is pretty funny when you consider that Gem technically canonically told Shelby to touch grass because she was being affected by sculk. Also I can feel that maybe Gem would maybe encounter evil Sausage and she could use this to cause a bit of shenanigans and/or is provoked by evil Sausage

Also for Grian sensing Gem being not all that she appears and telling Pearl about this, maybe Pearl asks Sausage about Gem via Sunny and Sausage tells her (and maybe Grian if he tagged along) about Gem telling him that she can travel dimensions. Also, maybe Gem could sense something wrong about Grian/already knows about Grian being a Watcher?

he wants so many things so very badly

but he does not get to want things, he has to remind himself. it's hard. but he has to be obedient. perfect.

it's a little easier when mumbo is talking. scar remembers that he's supposed to listen to mumbo, when grian isn't there

so he laboriously drags his focus to mumbo's words, apologizing when mumbo has to repeat things for him a few times

mumbo seems to think it's a pressing issue that scar hasn't eaten or rested since being brought to his enclosure. tango agrees. tango looks worried, but not just about scar.

scar listens to mumbo. eats the food he's given. lays down where he stands to rest.

mumbo almost seems uneasy with his listening. that's what he was told to do, right? why would it be wrong?

well, apparently the floor is wrong, according to mumbo, who prods and huffs and sighs, and then finally simply carries scar to a bed

scar does not let go when mumbo tries to set him down

mumbo is warm and real and touching him. traitorous limbs shake and threaten his hold, scar's vision blurs wetly.

mumbo concedes and lays with him on the bed

cub had woken up several times with the cold rigor mortis of the body he'd torn apart laid over him like a blanket, the stiffness of it fading more each time, and the uneasy wrong-right feeling of his summoner still buzzing constant in all of his senses

he didn't recognize the room they're in, dank, damp, almost as much cave as it is room, somewhere deep and long forgotten down below the castle if he had to guess. but it doesn't matter to him.

cub had moved only as much as he had to each time, in order to place himself in what feels most like the maws of the watcher, demanding it bite down

each time, exhaustion had filled his bones, dragging him back into unconsciousness again that he could only hope was the final morsel of him. cub tries, a little, to appreciate the slow process of being consumed, for scar

but this time when cub wakes, something is different

the buzzing infiltrating his mind spikes, a noiseless shriek tearing at cub's ears

he would care, but. but he knows why it's doing that. he knows. he feels it as well.

cub can feel scar

impossible. wrong. completely impossible.

cub drags himself upright, beyond the protesting of his exhausted body, his agonized wings

every bone in his body could be broken and that would not stop him from going to where the feeling of scar is

thankfully, most of his bones are intact.

he may not know where he is, but thankfully walls are no obstacle for cub. all he needs is the beacon star feeling to guide him.

cub leaves the corpse behind, a deep tomb for someone for someone who is in a state beyond the bounds of death.

the call of scar sings through cub, unrelentingly, making him have to push down hope again and again

his summoner wraps close around cub like a cloak, easily moving through floors and walls with him, a single purpose held between them

scar. scar

cub reaches parts of the castle he recognizes, honing in on a bedroom. he lurches forward, pain forgotten

scar blinks sleep from his eyes. mumbo is still sleeping beside him, warm.

but that's not what woke him up.

something woke him up?

a feeling of something impending barely has time to materialize, before scar is slammed into, a familiar bulk of weight pressing him back down into the bed

cub's frenzied eyes stare down at scar, his claws pinning Scar's shoulders and digging cub's claws in

cub's magic floods through scar, an icy tsunami reaching every last molecule of him, stealing scar's breath away with the sudden shock of it

but scar relaxes again. smiles up at him. because this is cub

real and solid cub, undeniable in the feel of cub's magic. scar meets it with his own magic, flourishing and twining with cub's

a grief scar doesn't understand eases

im here he tells cub, in every way he can

something inexplicable peels itself off of cub, surging forward to wrap around scar as well

before fear can even form, scar automatically relaxes into the pain of the touch. his summoner. his summoner!

scar is so eager to prove he's been perfected, so his summoner will want him again. he can't let himself care that the form his summoner takes is different for some reason.

the only important things are that cub is here, and his summoner is here

adrenaline trickles out of scar's body. he latches onto cub, onto the energy now spread between them.

scar can feel his consciousness wavering, and he can only hope his summoner will forgive the weakness of his body as sleep claims him once more.

my personal thoughts r that ros sculk arc simply doesn't make sense because she's had Much more exposure to the corruption in the past and was seemingly literally fine (there is, notably, still visible purple on her boots from that though). either the sculk will simply cancel out and it will be like nothing ever happened or she is freakishly resistant to corruption and is just flying under the radar because she's got other problems to worry about
