TRIPOLE, 2020
Tumblr media
So we were tasked to make a communication model, and this is what I made in which I entitled it as "Tripole, 2020". This communication model got its inspiration by Claude Shannon and Warren Weaver's Model (1948) and Eugene White's Model. Honestly, it is most similar to Eugene White's Model because I believe that what Mr. White has said, that communication is circular and continuous in which it has no beginning or end is right. However, I modified the model by adding some noise from Mr. Shannon and Mr. Weaver's model, since noise is inescapable in communication not to have a disturbance.
Hence, my communication model starts with the sender wherein the imagination and thoughts of the person are. I followed it by expressing emotions wherein the sender can then uses his/her vocal mechanism to produce a sound of language and accompanied it by its gestures and body stance. Next is transmitting the message to the listener and then receiving it for the listener to decode the message. Afterward, the listener will give feedback in which he/she can manifest its behavior like a nod, smile, or even he/she may not show any behavior at all. Lastly, is the monitoring in which the sender watches for signs of understanding of his message among the listeners. Moreover, after the monitoring part, it will be back again to the sender and repeat the cycle. And by this, I made the model "Tripole, 2020" for being exceptional yet straightforward.

The Re-introduction
Tumblr media
Hello Reader!
I go by the name of Matty Martini and this is actually my second attempt at creating and updating a tumblr blog. I first did a blog back in 2012 and 2013. You can find it here: tooposhforperfection.tumblr.com
What made me decide to start all over? Well, at the end of 2013, I stopped updating my previous tumblr blog and this was mostly because life started taking a different direction. At the time, I had been working permanently and full time for a year. I was also accepted to commence my postgraduate studies in 2014 studying a Postgraduate Diploma in Library & Information Sciences. I never thought that I would study anything to do with the library because my undergraduate degree was in Media & English and I always held onto the hopes that I would become a successful journalist. This didn’t happen for me. Instead, I became a successful administrator - this lasted for the next 7 or so years.
When I began my first my full time permanent job, I became enthralled into the world of academic administration and my goal was to look for the next best job and succeed in it. I went from being an administrative assistant to an administrative officer to a programme co-ordinator. While in the position of programme co-ordinator, I applied to become a librarian. My inspiration behind this was due to the fact that I was studying a Master’s in Library & Information Sciences and being passionate about my dissertation, it seemed fitting. I was accepted into the position which is where I am currently in my life.
A lot of things have changed in my life since 2012, when I created my first tumblr blog. This blog will follow a series of events and hopefully have some lessons and entertaining reading along the way. My first blog went from being a personal diary to a blog dedicated to reviewing old movies, concerts, albums and writing random articles. I might still throw a few of these in if the mood takes me in that direction but for now, welcome to Matty Martini: Revived.

Model Of Communication
Tumblr media
I followed the format of Eugene White’s Mode of Communication and the basic parts of Aristotle’s and merged them together. I altered some and used the basics of Aristotle’s, which is the Speaker, Speech, and Audience. I also added the Comprehension part since this is really important to communication. As the speaker, you to make sure your audience get what you’re saying or understand your point of view so that it will be easier to carry on the communication without any misunderstandings. Next is the Feedback part in which will be the initial response of the audience, if they get the point and if not, the speaker will then again proceed on passing the speech to the audience to clarify any misunderstanding. Very basic mode of communication in order to understand each other, making sure the message was successfully sent to the audience.

Printing files may be one of the struggles each student faces. We can all agree that it is hard not to own a printer these days, especially since instructors often give materials and handouts in encoded and pdf forms, and some instructors are fond of unannounced submissions of an activity. Upon interviewing, we heard and learned the sentiments of students regarding far printing stations. It is inconvenient for students to travel to CMU Market just to print and go back to their respective colleges after. We cannot avoid unexpected circumstances where printing stations are closed and some students need their printed files asap. We asked for their opinion about our proposed venture, and they actually agree with the business idea because it offers them comfort and convenience. Students were actually willing to avail themselves of services as long as they were budget-friendly, and they also considered the welfare of the business owner.
“Successful people reject rejection.” – John C. Maxwell
Rejection therapy is indeed a great experience. We have learned that not all the time people will be in your favor and agree on what you believe is right. Rejections do not mean failure; rejection is a lesson that helps us improve along the way.

Portable, Rechargeable Mosquito Trapper
The past few weeks of February were a rollercoaster ride. Through interviews, the team was able to identify the rampant problems that CMU students had. These prompted the group to have a vision of startup businesses primarily in printing services or in developing a sustainable product for university litters. Nonetheless, the team first suggested the “Tabang” website intervention during the presentation of venture proposals to alleviate the significant student concern of inadequate allowances. Upon taking into account the panel's feedback, the team has firmly decided to switch to a different venture. In this time and age, the face-to-face conduct of classes has continued. Students from different locations have opted to avail a boarding house or a dormitory for their needed accommodation as they enroll themselves in Central Mindanao University. Despite the comfort of the provided accommodation, the team took the initiative to assess some residents for timely and relevant concerns that they are currently experiencing.
With the team’s passionate attempt of brainstorming ideas from the gathered responses, an idea for another startup business emerged. It is a generated idea of a product that, as a group, we have believed and thought as much more specific, more practical and feasible to venture for the renting students of Central Mindanao University. Upon the conduct of the brainstorming session among the members of this group, we have envisioned paying attention to the prevalent mosquito issue in boarding houses and some college dormitories, as the interviewed renting students of this prestigious university claimed this to be a recurring matter that they experience during their stay.
Tumblr media
To validate the to-be-proposed product from our target market, the team has endeavored to conduct another face-to-face interview among the renting students of the university. Prior to the interview, we have hypothesized that all residents in the dormitories and boarding residences around the university experience mosquito-related issues. Another hypothesis made by the team is that all boarding student residents are willing to avail the mosquito trapper product that the group will propose. The team was able to have a conversation this week through interviews with 28 boarding students who concurred that there is a prevailing existence of mosquitoes in dorms and some boarding residences, which is such a distraction for their studying and most significantly at risk, their health. In line with this, 2 students, particularly from the Mahogany dormitory, hesitated to be potential customers. This enlightened the group that not all dormitories have frequent encounters with mosquitoes, given that windows of some dormitories are enclosed with mesh screens. Nevertheless, 26 of the interviewees, mostly coming from the College Park and Field 1 Residence, have given the affirmation of interest and willingness in purchasing the product as long as it is affordable and true to its claims.
As a result, the team has agreed to push and propose a model that will not use fire and will not emit smoke. It will be a portable, rechargeable mosquito trapper through its suction-capability. The display of a red-orange hue light that researches have tested to be effective in attracting mosquitoes will be its prime feature. The device will attract mosquitoes, which will then be captured for the product’s tray to die. The team also thought of an option in associating the mosquito trapper with a solar power panel to make use of the renewable energy from the sun in times of recharging. Indeed, this will make the product become sustainable, compared to when electricity is the only main source of power. In addition, it is crucial to consider that "katol" may be powerful in eliminating these mosquitoes, however, it is not permitted to be used inside the dorms or boarding residences because once it is left unattended, it could start a fire.
Our previous venture proposal has made us realize that in starting a startup, we should consider different factors. The team should focus on one specific issue that we want to address. Our previous proposal was quite broad and general, therefore we should be more specific. Secondly, we should consider our own limitations and capabilities as students. We discovered that as students, we are constrained and incapable of providing as much because creating something is expensive, and we are not yet competent to do so. Hence, the team must always bear in mind that we need to come up with a startup, which is a rich idea that something small yet scalable at the same time.
Personally, I have learned that it is important that everyone in the group shares his/her idea so that the tesam will be able to come up with a better idea. In terms of creating the idea, I have learned that it is alright if your idea is not accepted, rejection is part of the process. For the interview, although indeed it would be hard but, I have learned that I should have the courage to face my interviewees and ask them the questions that are related to the validation of our product for me to be able to have their answers which are needed in our report.

BLOG #2: Hypothesis and Results
It has been a tough week for us. We just recently had our Capping and Badge and days after we finally got to experience our very first hospital exposure! Wow, things really got by so fast. Not just that, we also had our interview with our target market which is the CMU students, landlady, and the Office of the Student Affairs! It’s very interesting how they listened and somehow agreed to what we planned out. I interviewed one of my co-officer about his problem when the school year just started and he directly answered me about his problem on boarding houses issues. “Gi tuyok na nako tibuok Musuan, wa jud koy nakita nga bakante ug chada nga boarding house nga barato. Lisod na kaayo mangita boarding house karun nga nag start na sad klase after pandemic” as my interviewer verbalized. He is from Surigao City which is very far away from Bukidnon. We then realized that our app could be a big help to those who suffer a lot in finding boarding houses, especially those who live far away from the university. My other friend, whom I also interviewed, still rants and complains to me about how nasty her boarding house is. “Ga tulo ang roof sa ako boarding house ug ga baha everytime mag ulan. Saba pa jud ako boardmates”, as verbalized by my friend. Until now, she has struggled about finding a good boarding house that is suitable for her budget and location. What is our hypothesis? So, if we add more features ( i.e group chat, e-payment, etc.), then the app would remain active and accessible to the users. In that way, it could be more convenient for them to communicate, pay, and find beautiful boarding houses.
I, together with my group mates, have decided to add on more features to enhance our app. We didn't have to decide that easily, we also came up with the options like Angkas, Food Panda, Location tracker, etc. that could possibly add more impact to our app and for now, after the formulation, we decided to just add e-payment and the group chats.
As I heard the students' complaints, I was stunned by how lucky I am to find a very good boarding house that is located only inside the university. Some are still struggling, some are lucky, some even go everyday to their houses via public transport. Business is a win-win. The buyers/subscribers can benefit from the businessmen/women, and vice versa.

For the continuation of my last blog, we have proposed our venture proposal and sadly, we got rejected by our professor. However, it is fine because we think of another start up for our venture proposal.
We started to interview people again outside our campus or in our locality about what problems they have seen or encountered right now in Bukidnon or in the Philippines.
Some people states a problem about the waste management here in Valencia City, to be specific and some people also states a problem about the kidnapping incidents that is happening in the country right now. Not just the kidnapping but also the violence and harmful things that randomly happened in our country.
We have interviewed 8 respondents again individually and interviewed 48 respondents in total as a group.
For the team decision, we have decided to propose a “Watch Alert” since some people were alarmed about the harmful incidents that is happening in our country. Our “Watch Alert” is not just a normal smart watch, it is a watch that will give you security in this world full of harmful things. We are very sure that this watch will be helpful no matter where you are using the advanced technology that world has right now. Our watch has its feature where the moment you are going to press the button, an automated text message will be sent to the contacts that have been set through the app that you are in danger. The watch’s feature, doesn’t end there because a lot of key features will be in the watch.
During the process of our start up, I have learned that we should not give up if we are rejected or if our start up was rejected because there is nothing wrong if we are going to start again the process as long as we are doing the right thing until such time will come that our proposal will be accepted. And yes, our “Watch Alert” proposal was accepted by our professor, we are very happy with what we have achieved to start our start up journey.

Entrep Journey — Blog #2
"Layoa sa printahanan oy", "Walay signal diri sa CMU", "Ka-layo sa palitanan oy", "Init kaayo sige baklay". Those are the usual complaints we would hear from the students of Central Mindanao University. Problems are inevitable, but it's a learning opportunity to find a probable solution for them, it just needs a better approach even if there may be frustrations. As for our group, we have seen several problems, concerns, and opportunities that need to be addressed. We have listed options/concerns such as: 1. Dormitory Hunting - slots run out quickly— giving the students an option to rather look for boarding houses outside the campus-- that is yet still approved by the University. These boarding houses may have been registered under the University, but these boarding houses are not easy to find especially for students whose hometowns are away from Bukidnon. One must have to go by almost all houses that may cater to student boarders as there are no signposts that imply that they are accepting.
2. Drinking Water Access - the difficulty of finding water to drink given that the Market is distant from all the colleges/buildings. The students or even the faculty have to go to the market to buy something to drink since the weather at CMU is warm.
3. Printing Files/Documents - "Layo kaayo ang market para lang magpa-print. As I've experienced ma virusan pa imong flashdrive, time consuming sab kaayo" - from 3rd Year COE Student.
4. Slow Internet Connection - face-to-face classes may be implemented already, but there are still other subjects that are held online and it is one of the problems that students experience even though there may be Free WIFI around the campus, it is not enough to cater a lot of students and it doesn't even work properly.
We believe these concerns are all important that must be addressed but we chose and prioritized proposed the Drinking Water Access. Students will go to the market to buy water, but when they will return to their colleges they had already consumed the water that they bought. It is important to stay hydrated considering the very warm weather of CMU, heatstroke can happen at any time. An idea of putting or providing a refilling station in the areas where there are a lot of students, especially in the Social Hall, Fullbright Garden, Graduate School Bench, etc.
I learned that we have to foresee the situation and choose what's best for the students because only they, even us, will benefit from it. Indeed, Prevention is better than Cure!

Speak and Listen: Hypothesize and Conclude
Blog #2: Interviewing Potential Customers
Creating an entrepreneurial venture could be a high risk but could also be a high reward. The thing is, there is no guarantee that all the hard work, the money spent, and the effort taken will pay off. As an entrepreneur, we need to be diligent and well-aware of what is happening around us; the trends, the demands, and the needs of the people. People, who are also considered our customers, are vital to our business’s venture. Thus, interviews and surveys were taken into account in the business of our very own.
To start off, just yesterday, I had my training for the Palaro Men’s Volleyball. From 8 am to 12 pm, it was all sweats as I played under the heat of the sun. But suddenly around 1 pm, heavy rain started to fall, thus, forcing us to stop our game and take shed on the grandstand. Upon sitting on the bleachers, I took advantage of the time to interview someone from our college. Then, I saw a classmate of my teammate and asked for her time for the interview.
To kick things off, I started with an introduction of myself, where I’m from, and the purpose of the interview. Then, I asked for her name, age, and current year level. I asked if I could record the session and she said yes. Her name was Cherry Flores Misolis, a 22-year-old 4th year nursing student of CMU. Then, I started with my first question, “What are the non-academic problems you’ve experienced so far in the College of Nursing (CON)?”. I, then translated her answer which is,  “The non-academic problems I’ve experienced in the CON is the lack of food and medical supplies facilities, mud splashes on my uniform during rainy days, and the lengthy distance from my boarding house to the CON. My main problem out of three is the lack of food and medical supplies facilities.”
Then I followed it up with the next question “As a nursing student, how has this problem affected your academic performance?”. She answered, “Having the lack of food and medical facilities has totally affected me and my academic performance. Considering the time I spent on travelling to the market, buying food consumes too much time thus, lessening the time I should rather spend in my studies.” I immediately asked the third question which was “What do you think could help solve this problem?” and then I received an answer which is “A college-based canteen or a food provider within the college or department can be a great help in addressing this problem since instead of going to the market or other eateries to eat food, I’ll be able to stay in the CON and enjoy my meal without even worrying about my time management for my lunch and studies.”
After relaying this questions, I started laying out possible options and answers to her predicament and then she agreed. I asked the fourth question which is “Do you think a food-centred entrepreneurial venture would help address your concern? How?”. She replied, “Yes, returning back to the problem, a food-centred entrepreneurial venture could just be the solution to this problem. By providing us with a near, accessible, and budget-friendly food provider, I wouldn’t have to worry about the time, effort, and money spent during my lunch time. Most importantly, I am able to give more time to my studies.“
After receiving the answer, I explained more about the business that I am proposing, she then grinned and showed her agreement. Upon finishing my explanation I then asked for her suggestions on our proposed business which is “What would be your suggestion or recommendations on our business?”.  Her answer was “If I were to suggest and recommend something for your business, I would say versatility and affordability. Versatility, by means of providing a wide range of dishes to choose from and affordability which is by considering the budget of customers in making a price.” After finishing the interview, I acknowledged her answers and time spent on the interview. I made sure to ask if I could disclose her identity and then she agreed. I thanked and showed her my deepest gratitude by taking her down stairs. I extracted, listened, and translated all of her answers which are reflected by those mentioned above.
After the interview with one of my seniors, me and my teammates agreed to go home instead, it was much of a hassle and waste of time to wait for the rain to stop since it shows no sign of stopping. Upon finalizing the decision, I, together with some of my teammates, walked to the market, grabbed a snack, and then went home. While waiting for the bus to come, I remembered that I have a neighbour who is also a nursing student of CMU. I then messaged her, and asked for an interview in her house in the late evening. She replied and told me that she is okay with it. I replied with appreciation and asked for an update thereafter.
Upon arriving home, I took a quick bath and asked her if she is available during the present time. She said yes and I immediately walked my way to her house. She welcomed me and told me to find comfort on their front porch where we will be performing the interview. After that, I waited for her to settle down and then introduced myself to my interviewee. I asked for her name, age, and year level. Her name is Aubrey Alvarado, a 20-year-old 3rd year nursing student of Central Mindanao University. After we have set ourselves completely in our respective places, we then started with the interview. Questions that have been asked with this interviewee are similar with the past one.
I started with the first question which is concerned with the problems experienced by our interviewee. She replied “I have experienced no source for food during lunchtime, difficulty in transportation, hot weather, and lack of printing and photocopying services. Out of the aforementioned problems, the one that caused me much problem is the absence of a food source especially during lunchtime.” Then I asked her about how it affected her academic performance. She said “This problem of mine affected my academic performance in a way that hunger always overpowers my focus at the same time, kills time which should’ve been spent in studying for my lessons. It serves as roots to other problem such as spending money on fare, having to experience the scorching heat of the sun upon walking to the market, and poor time management for studies”. She then highlighted some of her personal experiences about spending too much time in looking for food and eating her lunch.
Then I followed up with the third question which is about the possible solutions she could think of to solve her problem. She then proposed, “Having a cafeteria near or within the college will be a great solution to this problem. Yet since there is no budget for that, a food seller or department-based food delivery service provider would also be an effective remedy to the problem.” I then started talking about our business like the previous interviewee then continued by asking her the following question which is about how a food-centred entrepreneurial venture could help solve this problem of hers “Yes, by providing accessible food within the college, I wouldn’t have to worry about spending money on fare, having to walk to the market, and walking under the heat of the sun. Also, I can manage my time and give more of it in my studies.” I continued with my explanation with our proposed business and what it offers. She smiled and told me that it was a great proposal as it could help students like her with their problem on food discrepancy within the college.
After giving her a clean, concrete, and complete discussion about our business, as our final question, I asked for her suggestions and recommendations on how to improve our business and make sure that it compensates the demands of its customers. She answered “Food should always be clean, consistent, and within the budget of the nursing students. As nursing student, we know that we have infinite requirements especially during our duties, thus the entrepreneurs under this business should reconsider an affordable price for their customers.” After completing the interview, I thanked her and her mom for their time. I asked if I could disclose her identity and she said yes. I make sure to leave no scraps within her home and left properly with showing of deep gratitude. I then went home and started interpreting the answers of my interviewees.
After discussing with my group mates the individual answers of our interviewee, we have come to a conclusion that our proposed business answers the needs of the CON students when it comes to food service within the college. It doesn’t only solve the problems of food but also the problems of time, effort, and money as it saves time and effort by providing an of quality budget-friendly product to the people easily accessible by its customers. Also, it shows that it could possibly be a unique product since it is diverse and provides a wide range of food to choose from. The food is also environmentally advantageous as it uses biodegradable and recyclable ingredients and materials in its manufacturing and packaging. Truly, our product, as of the moment, is something to look out for as it is well-appreciated and acknowledged by the interviewees interviewed.
Regarding this, the decision that has been made by the team is that we should have a variety of dishes to sell and not only rely on one. Chosen dishes would be easy-to-cook as well as be 100% edible which means bony excesses should not be present within each product. Also, we should make sure that the ingredients that we would be using in our product would be affordable and of quality at the same time. The options include both well-known and local stores which would be reconsidered in obtaining our needed materials. On this note, we would compromise with the chosen store then choose the one with the best offer to make sure that product is within our budget not only for us but also for our customers. This is a must-check aspect simply because the price of the product can cause a big impact on the rundown of our business in the future.
Throughout the interviews, I learned that it is really vital to listen to the demands of the public since they will be a great contributing and determining factor if your proposed business would be a huge success and failure. It taught me that the entrepreneurial world, to be able to sell, you should not only use your mouth to advertise or sell you product but also to use your ears to listen to what the people need and want. Being an entrepreneur requires not only having the accurate knowledge but also exuding a personality that provides, communicates, and responds to what the people may say and doing what is must for them since at the end of the day, they will be your greatest motivator to achieving greater and even your biggest advocate in promoting your business in the future.

Stress Over School: Expectations vs. Reality
Tumblr media
I'm going to break the bad news: stress is inevitable when you are a college student. Between endless hours of studying, deadlines for assignments and projects, and exams to worry about, it's nearly impossible not to stress out at some point in time during your college career. Even if you are doing well in school, life inevitably throws curveballs that can add to your existing struggles. If you are currently stressed over school or know someone who is stressed over school, this post will tell you that you're not alone!
Expectation: I will be more productive by working in my room all day.
Expectation: I will be more productive by working in my room all day.
Reality: You can be productive anywhere, including in your room, but you may find that a change of scenery provides a better environment for concentration. If you’re struggling to focus on work while surrounded by friends and classmates (or perhaps they are distracting), then it might be best to take your laptop to the library or coffee shop—where there are fewer people around—and use headphones if needed. If even those options aren’t working out for you, consider heading outside!
There are many benefits of working outdoors, especially when the weather is nice. Whether it’s a city park or nature trail near campus, being surrounded by greenery has been shown to reduce stress levels and enhance creative thinking abilities.
Reality: I will spend the whole day being distracted by noise and staring at a blank Google Doc.
You will spend the whole day being distracted by noise and staring at a blank Google Doc. You put off the work until the last minute and then stress about the due date. You go to bed at 3 a.m., roll out of bed 5 minutes before your 8 a.m., get lost on campus, and miss class anyway because you’re late picking up your ID card...the list goes on and on.
I am not going to say that university is easy, but I am going to say that it does not have to be this stressful! There are many things that can be done in order for you not only to survive but thrive in this new environment and eventually begin having fun again!
Expectation: Starting my homework early will make me feel accomplished.
One of the biggest problems people can have with their homework is their expectations. They might think that they need to start their work as soon as they get home, or that they should do all of their homework at once. Both of these methods are flawed because there’s a lot of information out there and it can be overwhelming to tackle it all at once. The best way to approach this problem is by breaking your assignments into smaller pieces—that way, you don’t feel overwhelmed by everything that needs doing, and you won't get discouraged when things get difficult or take longer than expected!
The first step is making sure you pick the right assignment for yourself. If something like math has always given you trouble in class (or if it's just not your favorite subject), try tackling something else first instead: reading an article online about what your teacher talked about during class today could give a good insight into how she/he thinks; listening to music while working on another subject will help keep your mind clear so when it comes time for math assignments later on later in the eveningor tomorrow morning!—the concepts will come easier."
Reality: I put off the work until the last minute and then stress about the due date.
You're not alone in your procrastination. In fact, you probably have company at this very moment. According to a survey by StudyMode, 43% of respondents reported that they tend to put off their schoolwork until the last minute.
Studies have shown that procrastination can lead to stress and poor performance, but there are some simple ways to overcome it:
Set yourself goals and deadlines for each assignment or project before you start working on it. If you're juggling multiple assignments at once, try creating an order in which you'll work on them (so that the most urgent projects get done first).
Make sure you have all of your materials in one place so that you don't waste time looking for them when it's time to start working on something new. This includes notebooks filled with notes from previous classes or readings (and any other information relevant for future assignments), pens/pencils/paper/pencil pencilpaper...you get the idea!
Expectation: Going to office hours will help me understand the material better.
You may think that office hours are a good place to go for help, but you have to be prepared. If you wait until the last minute and then ask for help, it can make the professor feel overwhelmed or stressed. They might not want to talk with students who haven't done their work. Before going in, try reading the chapter over again and taking notes on what still doesn't make sense. Also, it's important not to go off topic when talking with your professor. If they don't understand where you're coming from and keep asking questions that seem unrelated, this might cause them more stress than necessary!
If we think about our professors as people who are trying their best under difficult circumstances (like us), it becomes clear why they may struggle with providing adequate support at times: they have huge workloads themselves! The best way we can help out is by being respectful of their time while also being proactive in seeking out resources outside of class if necessary (such as other courses or tutors).
Reality: Office hours are always full.
If a professor is not available for office hours, you may feel frustrated and confused. You are putting in the effort to learn, but you can't seem to find resources that will help you understand the material.
In this situation, it's important to remember that professors are human too--they might be having a bad day or they might simply be overworked with other things in their lives. As a result of their busy schedules, professors often leave their doors open during office hours so that students can reach out through email or chat without needing an appointment time slot.
This means that instead of waiting until after the class ends (or even worse: arriving late) and potentially missing out on valuable feedback from both your peers and instructors, try contacting them early on via email or chat before class starts! This way there's less stress involved when it comes down to figuring out whether or not someone wants help understanding course material outside of scheduled times/seats/etcetera."
Expectation: I will go to bed early on Sunday night so that I can wake up feeling refreshed on Monday morning.
Expectation: I will go to bed early on Sunday night so that I can wake up feeling refreshed on Monday morning.
Reality: You toss and turn until 12:30 a.m., before finally falling asleep. Then your alarm goes off at 5:30 a.m., and you stumble out of bed feeling exhausted!
If you want to avoid this scenario, there are some easy ways to get a good night's sleep—and wake up feeling awake and ready for the day ahead. First of all, make sure your body is ready for bed by exercising earlier in the day (exercise releases hormones that help us fall asleep), or taking a hot shower before going to bed (hot showers have been shown to relax muscles). Try not to eat large meals close to when you plan on sleeping because they'll make it harder for you to digest food while you sleep—you don't want indigestion interrupting your quality rest! And whatever time you go down for shut-eye, try not to deviate much from it—if getting up early feels impossible right now because of school stress, it may be better off if instead, we get used to going into class late sometimes rather than running ourselves ragged trying our hardest every single day without fail.
Reality: I will go to bed at 3 a.m., roll out of bed 5 minutes before 8 a.m., and then drink three cups of coffee so that I'm not falling asleep in class.
You will wake up at 3 a.m., roll out of bed 5 minutes before 8 a.m., and then drink three cups of coffee so that you're not falling asleep in class. You will have trouble concentrating on the lecture because you are so exhausted from working so hard all night. You'll go home with homework due this weekend, but again—you're just going to sleep it off until tomorrow morning.
Then, when Monday rolls around again and you start another week at school, all of these problems come back: the tiredness, the lack of focus in class, feeling overwhelmed by everything else besides schoolwork that needs doing (laundry? Cooking?). Before long it's Wednesday night again and time for another late night spent writing papers or cramming for exams—and then Thursday morning is here again, waking up early for another day at school...
Stress over school is inevitable but also manageable. It's important to keep in mind that stress is a natural part of life, and it can be managed. It can be beneficial in certain circumstances and situations. For example, your body releases adrenaline to help you react quickly when confronted by an immediate threat. This can be good if you need to protect yourself or others from harm—it's not always bad! However, most of the time we experience stress because we are overworked or overwhelmed by our responsibilities at school and home—things that don't actually pose any threat to our safety or well-being. In fact, sometimes stressful situations can actually make us stronger when we learn how to cope with them effectively!
My intention for this article was to make you feel a little less alone in your school stress. We’re all feeling it, and we’re all doing the best we can to get through it. Stress can negatively affect our health and well-being, but there are actually positive things that come out of stressful situations, too. Studies have shown that stress can increase resilience as well as motivation and productivity. Stress has also been shown to increase creativity and innovation in individuals who work under pressure. So while you might feel like your world is falling apart on a Friday night when you have four papers due on Monday morning, try taking a deep breath and turning the situation into an opportunity to exercise your brain muscles! Eventually, you’ll learn how to deal with stress in ways that will make every situation more manageable—even if it doesn’t seem like it at first glance.

&&. Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship (The Modern Puppet Show of Filipino People)
For a twenty-peso worth, a ticket for our favorite puppet show might be affordable in our wallet. Wide-opened eyes, sitting comfortably on the theater's sofa, with lips sipping cold soda beers, pleasing our senses with the festive motions of puppets dancing right in front of us. Entertaining, is not it? But for every spotlight, a shadow always lurks behind our sight.  Strings are visible and so do the motion, but one doubt remains silent behind the curtain: Who controls the puppet? No one knows, or worse, will never know. But someone has witnessed something about the spectacle as he has seen the hidden characters we never saw – the media and the government. And through his discovery, the doubt transcendents into a light. The light appears in the public's minds, then soon starts to speak for what is real and right. At last, the truth unravels the hidden: media are puppets under the strings of the puppeteer we knew but have never seen, for it is the fear and skepticism that blinds our eyes. When will we escape from this blindness? Where should we run to find the light? And how can we seek for something we lose against the forces of the puppeteers? Questions remain to wander, but one thing is for sure, literacy and democracy are the only power we could have away from the strings of manipulation and deceptive shows of the government.
We may find ourselves at home, diving to the deepest screens of televisions, cellphones, and other dimensions of mass media. Whatever we take a glimpse of; we automatically believe and stand for it. However, today's media have been starting to serve half-baked information to censor ideas the people should not be allowed to know. These days, truth is limited and out of our reach. Instead, the media are forcing us to reshape our judgment using the resources they have been delivering to the public. However, the motion of mass media is something to deal with the control of someone's influence and authority. The government held restrictions on speech forms and manipulated the data as they believe it was "the way of protecting the nation’s common good." It is an open secret that government officials are filtering and taking control of the scopes of mass media. In other words, they decide what information must be on the news, what data should be present in the newspaper, what angles should project on screens, and what versions of reality the public should necessarily know. To shorten, the government has been feeding us fabricated information that turns us into ignorant and blinded audiences of their directed show. This manipulation will never bring safety to society; however, it will only affect the connection and trust of compatriot and their government.  Citizens have the right to be involved in the actual situation of their environment. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, "everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference, and everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression." Here extends that the public should receive any information they needed to produce an informed judgment. Because in the most sense, media is not a tool for making people feel safe and give false peace on dangers, but it is a channel for us to be aware, prepare, and equip on societal issues we are facing today. The government should realize that manipulating the media is not an ideal solution for anything. They need to end their malicious influence affecting public opinion and limiting the factual information in media. And for us journalists and fellow countrymen, we hold the power of terminating the oppression of public speech and media integrity. Philippine democracy is in our soul. We need to take courage in voicing out and face any hurdles that stumbles the truth. As of today, we should start assessing what lies we are viewing. Let us not be entertained merely on the reflections, but we also need to unravel the hidden shadows behind the curtain. Be a wise audience, be a literate individual in society. Together, we depart away from the puppet shows and walk towards the path of media literacy.

#2 Fact (Negative)

As teenagers develop into young adults, their body also grows in a way that they cannot control. Some developments can make adolescents more body conscious, since they get jealous of others’ body that fits the beauty standards which led them to having anxiety and lose confidence. Some may not know what to expect about their bodies and some doesn’t know if their growth is normal. I sometimes look at myself in the mirror with disgust for having hip dips, big stomach, curly hair and many more insecurities. But overtime, I start to change my mindset about my body little by little even though it’s hard to avoid these negativity.
