I originally had a completely different idea for this mini comic but could not get it the way I planned and put this together instead. I’m going to make some more mini comics for this au as well as for my other db aus.

There’s not a lot to go off of or gather from this one but just know that Yamcha’s regrets towards never coming forward to Chichi about being related has little to do with his involvement with her newly made family, and more with how he projects how things could’ve been for him under better circumstances.

This far into the au Yamcha perceives himself as a fuck up and his on and off relationship with Bulma amplifies it to an extent. Maybe Goku even projects how he would’ve wanted Raditz to be like onto Yamcha but we’re not gonna get into that rn🗿👀👩🏽‍🦯idk maybe Yamcha is jealous of Gohan for having such loving and understanding parents and unintentionally brings him down bc of his own insecurities. (LET ME OUT)

These two were heavily underutilized and I wish their characters were handled better or had more involvement in the plot of the show. I’ll try to make better mini comics bc I’m so bad at it lmao😭💀

tried my hand at redesigns again!

Hunter: I really just wanted to introduce some fantasy back into his design. he has a lot of weapons due to being the next Huntsman, but he really only uses the dagger and axe for wood carving/chopping.

Maddie: I had ... way too many ideas here, and I'm not sure if they all go together. I wanted to try and draw a bit more from women's fashion of the 1850-60's as per the original tale, hence the blouse and hat. Skirt was heavily, heavily, inspired by @everafterwhat Maddie design, go check her art out if you like eah fanart, she's got some really cool redesigns and au's!

Raven: My main goal was to make Raven look intimidating at first glance. Mostly, this is because I feel like there's a small subset of the populace of the school that needs more than just her destiny as an excuse to not interact with her at first. like, yeah, her being the evil queen's daughter explains why characters like duchess, the pigs, and sparrow are all either afraid or openly hostile to Raven at the beginning of the year, but it goes against the characterization of characters like Rosebella, Ashlynn, or heck even Ginger, who would probably see her for her actions first and destiny second. For Raven to have her semi-loner status that she does at the beginning of the books, I think having her be rather tall and intimidating looking makes it work, as it gives the more friendly or openly rebellious student population another reason not to interact with her on the basis of accidental intimidation. idk if that makes sense, just throwing my thoughts at the wall. Also, I wanted to try to incorporate her cloak/coat of darkness from the books. no particular reason, I just feel like she needs a cloak. I keep going back and forth on the hennin (horn hat)

Cedar: Cedar was crafted to be the next Pinocchio, and that includes her being made to look like a child. she's lived as long as the rest of her peers, but unlike everyone else who's physical forms went through the stages of baby, child, and now teen, Cedar has been stuck in the same wooden replica of an elementary aged child since her creation. this compounds on a lot of the problems Cedar has with connection during the start of the year, as her inability to lie + her physical form resembling a child causes a lot of the other students to treat her like she's five instead of fifteen like the rest of them. it's also made her whole experience with destiny and rebellion confusing, as she isn't sure at times if she actually wants her destiny or if she just wants the respect that she's denied.

You weren’t exactly close.

For the longest time, you and the guy next to you in Chem-Finance were just… there. Sitting beside each other. Sharing space, but not words.

He was quiet. Diligent. All sharp angles, messy hair, and pen caps always tucked between the teeth. Always scribbling notes with laser focus and mumbling formulas like he was reciting spells.

And you? Well, people might’ve labeled you “popular,” but they didn’t know you stayed up late reading research papers just for fun. Especially anything related to organic chemistry and food science. You didn’t talk about it much—most people tuned out at the word "isomer"—so you kept it to yourself.

Until one day, after weeks of shared silence, you leaned toward him before lecture started and asked, “Hey… random question. Would you help me with a food chemistry thesis?”

He turned to you slowly. “Depends on the fruit.”

You grinned, a little nervous. “Mangoes.”

He froze. Blinked. Then the faintest smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. “Elite choice.”

“You think?”

“Mangoes are chemically fascinating. Ripening rate, sugar-acid balance, volatile compounds—it’s like fruit alchemy.”

That made you perk up, pleasantly surprised. “Exactly! That’s why I picked it. The ester interactions alone could take up an entire section.”

Now he was staring at you like you’d just revealed a hidden level of a video game.

“…You know esters?”

“Um, yeah. I’m majoring in food chemistry and finance.”

He blinked again. “No way. I’m chemistry and finance.”

You both laughed.

After a beat, he added, “You could look at my strawberry thesis if you want. For reference. Similar structural breakdowns.”

“Strawberries? Aren't strawberries... kind of boring?”

“excuse me? they’re a polyploid hybrid with over 600 volatiles and complicated parentage. I liked their duality—how they’re considered berries, but technically aren’t. Plus, they oxidize stupidly fast once cut. They’re a mess.”

You smiled. “That’s why you picked them?”

He looked sheepish for a second. “Also my ex liked them. So I thought maybe if I understood their chemical structure, I’d understand why she sucked.”

You snorted. “You tried to decode heartbreak through fruit?”

“I got an A.”

“That is lowkey impressive.”

From that day on, you brought him a small Tupperware of fresh mango pieces to class. He always accepted them with quiet reverence—and without fail, every time, he’d offer you a mango fun fact.

He announced one morning as you handed over the container, already opening it up and popping the fruit in his mouth “mango trees can live for over 300 years and still bear fruit.”

You paused mid-sip of your coffee, arching a brow with interest. “So basically, they’re the sugar daddies of the plant kingdom.”

Kuroo sputtered around the mango, half-laughing, half-struggling to recover.

You just grinned, grabbing a pen and sliding into your seat beside him. “Resilient and generous. Nature really peaked with that one. Oh and technically, I'm feeding you immortal snacks. How cool is that!”

He wiped the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, smirking. “Cool enough to make me believe in soulmates with a fruit-based origin story.”

You started spending more time together after that. Studying. Swapping notes. Late-night library sessions where he explained reaction mechanisms and you countered with theories about flavor extraction in ripe versus overripe fruit. It was the kind of nerdy chemistry (pun very much intended) that felt easy.

He didn’t talk much at first, but when he did, he was sharp, teasing, and way more sarcastic than you’d expected. The quiet guy beside you turned out to be funny, lowkey cocky, and borderline annoying in the most endearing way.

But he never interrupted your train of thought. Never tried to one-up you. Just matched your energy and let you be.

That alone? Made him addictive company.

So when he turned to you after finance management class one day, scratching the back of his neck, and said, “Hey… there’s a cafe down the street doing a mango-themed menu,” you raised a brow.

“Oh?”

“Mango mousse. Mango sticky rice. All kinds. Thought you might want to join me for some… scientific research.”

You smiled. “Using me as an excuse to eat mangoes?”

“Definitely. Also, I think I’ve officially been conditioned. You feed me mango after class and now my brain expects it.”

You laughed. “Are you asking me out?”

He smirked. “I’m inviting you to assist me in a controlled, mango-based sensory experiment.”

“…That sounds dangerously romantic.”

He shrugged. “Only if the data supports it.”

She gave him a soft smile, "Text me the timings and address. I'll see you later" before turning around and leaving him a smiling fool

Made this……..was inspired by a comment @mindflayer-inc made on a Yamcha post, idk what the og post was about and can’t find it anywhere but the idea stuck and now here I am oop.🗿 Yamcha first born of Fire Moutain au?!? Idek what type of title to have for this au but the plot I cooked up was that Yamcha ran away from home and was disowned. Maybe I’ll make more art on it later at some point since this one took me forever, I have become a shrimp with my hunching ahh back while doing this.

I also wrote up some of this concept of him confessing to Bulma when they were still dating about his “past” and roots, so now this AU is ingrained into me. Without giving away too much of what I have planned, I figured it’d make more sense if the reason he ran away was because he was arranged to marry a girl his age from another kingdom since the Fire Mountain wasn’t doing so well and Ox King needed some assurance and that was the easiest way to do it. Yamcha, however, finds out about the arrangement and later on flees with the dowry💀💀which ties into why he beats up kids and steals money in the og series lmao.

Anyways. I actually like how this turned out but don’t flame me for the layout,😅I’ve never rly attempted to do a comic type art before and just figuring out how to was draining. Can I just say I love how goofy Puar gets👩🏽‍🦯. I wish they all kept their tails but alas.

Also I heard that “titling” or adding a header to art messes with the algorithm? I’m still new to tumblr so can someone explain that to me or confirm whether that’s true or not.

Do you remember the last time you were sick?

To be honest, no, I don't remember, but I clearly don't like being sick, haha. What bothers me the most when I get sick is my itchy throat, stuffy nose, watery eyes, also, My mood also changes, it feels like I'm sad and depressed in bed.

I don't know if my immune system is as weak as Yuma's here, but I don't think so, It's a little difficult for me to get sick from something, At most, I sneeze every now and then, and some headaches, however, my mother didn't let me take a shower in the rain, Because she was sure that I would get sick the next day, and I had an event to go to at that time... I wonder if I would have gotten sick even if I had taken a shower in the rain.
