something i will never get over is the fact that netflix never renewed the show Busted! for a fourth season, even after the brunt of Covid passed
"but there were idols on that show!" "most of the cast were well known actors!" "it couldn't go on forever!" I AM AWARE. but they fucked up in the beginning by not changing the cast more noticibly between seasons 1 & 2, therefore everyone got attached AND they didn't even end season 3 properly! i'm still mad about it!
they should try renewing it with a new cast, maybe just to wrap it up in a more satisfying way, and i would stop being so upsetti, but i don't see that happening anytime soon

Summary: With the two of you nestled in, wrapped in each other’s arms contently, you both begin to make plans for the next steps. You were back in Fortuna but needed to focus on your main goal. Getting your throne back.
As Taehyun and your feelings reach their brim, alongside hope mounting, it was only a matter of time before the universe had enough and rips away your moment of happiness.
Tumblr media
“There’s no way to just charge into the palace and confront Sehun,” Taehyun murmurs deep in thought. Your brows furrow, “But you said we directly need to confront him?”
“Yes, but I highly doubt asking to meet the prince is going to work for you. I’m going to get imprisoned for treason and most likely be executed after you. You’ll go straight to him get ruthlessly insulted, he’ll toy with you and off you go to your demise,” he drawls out outstretching his legs on the decrepit sofa.
An appalled expression crosses your face as he snorts, “It’s a realistic outcome, no?” Glaring, you reply, “Well, yes. I was hoping to hear an alternative. A better one.”
A smirk laces his lips making you roll your eyes, “Take this seriously, come on, how long are we going to lounge around here in your cabin?”
He pouts, “Come now, lounge around?” His eyes sparkle mischievously as a sly smile appears, “Is that all we’ve been doing these last two-three days?” Taehyun’s gaze drops to your neck and you huff as your fingers instinctively go to brush over the large bruised mark. “I told you not to bite so hard,” you huff.
“You weren’t complaining when I did, rather I heard you make a quite different soun-“ He retorts before you interrupt him abruptly.
“Stop speaking immediately,” you glare, eyes burning into his as embarrassment floods your features. He was right, but that was beside the point!
A low chuckle escapes his lips as he runs his fingers through his soft blonde locks, “Just a bit of kissing here and there, lips and neck, had you so riled up, princess? It even surprised me.”
You glare in deathly silence with folded arms. He raises his hands in surrender, “Goodness, with that glare you could take down a dragon.”
A scoff leaves your lips at his sarcastic remark. Taehyun sighs laughing at your exasperation, “Okay, okay. Back to the topic at hand, what I was thinking is, we get intentionally caught.”
You deadpan, “You are joking.” “I am very much not, sweetheart,” he muses. What was he thinking? Doesn’t it lead to the same outcome as just charging in?
“Hear me out, we both enter Fortuna, cloaked, hidden as if we’re trying to buy, I don’t know, food or goods something along those lines, then by oh so pure chance, one of the guards on their patrol spots a glimpse of you. A chase ensues, we intentionally get caught. And then, we’re presented as prisoners of treason and you, a wanted bounty in front of Prince Sehun,” Taehyun explains.
You process his words, your brain churning and whirring its gears. Indeed large scale crimes were personally handled by the royal court in front of the monarch. You both had committed what he saw as treason and well, you were a wanted bounty. You’d both be presented to Sehun in the throne room as you had seen with other criminals whilst growing up.
Knowing your pitiful excuse of a brother, he’d miss absolutely no chance of rubbing his victory in your face.
“Mm…indeed, you are correct. We would be presented in front of Sehun. He’s an absolute imbecile, so he no doubt would gloat like a buffoon in front of us,” you murmur. Taehyun smirks, “So? Giving me time to work my skills, no?” You raise a brow, “Such as?”
“We are going to be bound by chains. Those I can whisk off easy with a little enchantment. Next I need to scatter the surrounding guards and leave Sehun alone. Easy pickings after that. Can he fight?” Taehyun questions.
“Remarkably well, he’s a great swordsman. He spent most of his time training after all,” you utter sighing. Taehyun hums unfazed, “No weapon has anything on sorcery. Even if he is the most skilled swordsman to ever exist.”
Biting your lip, you run back through the haphazard plan. Having the both of you caught so suddenly, would definitely lower Sehun’s guard, knowing how arrogant he is. This roughly put together plan may just work.
“Once he’s cornered. You can talk to him. Expose his crimes to the court, no?” Taehyun hums. “The court supports him,” you huff.
“Of course they do, fucking idiots,” Taehyun groans. You snicker at his frustration. It was natural he felt that way, he had a bad experience with them after all.
“Noble pieces of fucking shit; nothing in their skulls just money in their pockets,” he mutters irritated. “Can’t you bribe them or something?” He mutters. You nod slowly, “I suppose I could do that. I doubt they’d want to go against me when their present figurehead is cornered.”
“You could always have me threaten them, I could turn them into stone, into toads, into whatever you or I please, teach them a real nice lesson,” Taehyun muses bitterly.
“That’s…certainly an idea. I suppose we’ll handle that obstacle when we get to it,” you smile, “At the end of the day, they’re all spineless cowards who are unloyal. I’ll be firing numerous of them. Furthermore, I’m sure a little wave of your wand will have them quivering.”
He chuckles, “Oh I do look forward to a sight such as that. Those bastards have what’s coming to them for what they did to me and my father. Exiling the both of us.”
His harsh gaze softens as he peers at you, “You…you do permit me to have a little fun with them don’t you?” You smirk, “I suppose a little lesson is in order. Just don’t…do anything violent.” Taehyun sighs, “How unfortunate but I suppose I can do that for you.”
You both remain in a comfortable silence as Taehyun suddenly puts his arms around you from behind and leans his chin on your shoulder. “What are you thinking about? Haven't I told you numerous times not to worry. You’ve got me. We’ve got each other. We can do this.”
Placing your hands atop his, you murmur, “Yeonjun is there. You’ll have to see him. He’s in a powerful position too; royal sorcerer and Sehun’s advisor, what are you going to do if he tries to stop us?”
A moment of silence passes. The mere mention of Yeonjun makes him stiffen. The air around the both of you becomes gloomy. “I’m sorry I-“ you begin.
He releases a breathy laugh, “No, no. You’re right, sweetheart. If we are destined to cross paths again…well, then I do not plan to back down so easily.” Taehyun clears his throat, “If we must fight whether that be verbally, physically or through our sorcery, so be it. He means nothing to me anymore.”
“He does, you’re lying,” you frown, twisting yourself to face him and notice his dull expression. “It will hurt to see him, won’t it? After all these years,” you frown.
He becomes quiet for a second before answering, “I suppose you can see through me, hm? It just…reminds me of that painful time. The feelings I felt when I saw my father getting dragged away. The…condescending smile he gave me when I called to him for help - like, like he enjoyed it. Twisted bastard.”
You cup his cheek, thumb caressing it lightly. His gaze meets yours. The mention of Yeonjun left a bitter taste in his mouth. You lean forward, “If he sets foot in front of you, show him. Show him who deserves to be the true Royal Sorcerer. Him or you?”
A bitter laugh escapes his lips. “Show him, despite your exile, you’ve only continued to improve. That you’ll always surpass him in every way possible. Not just sorcery. You are a better person. You know why?”
Curiosity gleams in his dull eyes as he watches you speak so determinedly. “Because, unlike him who’s hurt you, your father, to get where he is today. Through betrayal. You still surpass him. You have your father’s ability and affinity for magic. To manipulate mana with ease.”
You shakily breathe, “You could have rampaged, exacted vengeance, lunged at Yeonjun back then. All these years in the Woods of Mors, you could have meticulously planned revenge, yet you didn’t. You held yourself back. You’re more mature, you know your boundaries. You are wise, Taehyun. You are merciful.”
His voice cracks momentarily, “No, I was…I was a coward. I knew it would land me in more trouble.”
“You knew it would land your father in more trouble, possibly even execution,” you firmly state. “…yes. I-“ he murmurs lowly, “Yes, exactly. My father said not to. Even after he’d passed away, that I should never risk myself by going after the foolish notion of revenge, that we- we were better than that.”
A small smile forms on your lips. You notice his eyes glazing over. “Your father was a good man, you, you are a good man.”
“I’m not half the man he was, but thanks, sweetheart,” he solemnly smiles. Shaking your head, you grip his chin tilting it down to make him meet your gaze, “Where’s that arrogance and self-confidence I’m so used to, sorcerer?”
He remains quiet merely peering into your gorgeous eyes. You had a heart of gold; something he didn’t find himself deserving of. Why did you have to settle for less? When you could have any noble man you wanted? Yet you treated him so fondly. With such care, like a lover. You loved him right? Then why did he feel so terrified of reciprocating?
Was he afraid that as soon as you gain your throne back, that you’d toss him aside? Was he afraid that you, too, would betray him in the future? To place his cracked and beaten heart into your soft and sweet palms.
“Taehyun?” You call out; a flash of worry on your features. He gives you a subtle smile, “Sweetheart?”
“If you meet him, I want you to show him who you are. You’ve not once taken the step toward revenge. Well? If revenge presents itself to you, why not take the opportunity that the universe above has presented you with? If revenge walks to you with his wand pointed at you and an arrogant smile, will you let this opportunity slide too?” You ask with a stern expression.
“Being the better person. Yes, as good as it may be. Some people are not deserving of our kindness, of our mercy. That goes for Sehun. That also goes for Yeonjun.” You speak with a melancholy tone. Your gaze hardens, “So…”
Taking his hands and intertwining your fingers with yours, you squeeze them reassuringly, “So, let’s close all our unresolved regrets and close that chapter on our lives and move forward towards a future where no one can bring us down and we only experience prosperity and happiness.”
You hold yourself back from speaking further as you notice him staring at you wordlessly. Did you cross the line? Goodness, you must have talked his ears off. The last thing he probably wanted was an entire speech. Though you couldn’t help it, you despised seeing him hurt, so down.
“Sorry, I-“ you start before your eyes widen, feeling his arms suddenly wrap around you tightly; his head laying on your chest. Your heart palpitates rapidly. Your fingers run through his hair, caressing it tenderly. Taehyun parts from you, his gaze intense, almost restrained in a manner.
“Everytime, every fucking time,” he breathlessly laughs. Confusion appears on your face, how adorable he thinks.
“You continue to do it again and again, no matter how anxious I feel, how dreadful this feeling makes me feel. To think I shouldn’t, that I can’t get too attached, to not raise my hopes, to not think of a future together. To not kiss you again, not to lead you on, to not lead myself on, I can’t help it. I just can’t fucking help how I feel, you continue to make me feel worse,” he utters almost frustrated.
With an uneasy expression you murmur, “T-Taehyun?”
“You make me go insane, in the most addicting and best way possible. Whenever I have the slightest doubt you pull me right back in,” he laughs strained.
His gaze meets yours taking your hand and placing it on his chest; you feel his heart pounding like his life depended on it. Your eyes widen in surprise, realising your heart was doing the same.
“Do you feel it? Do you feel what you do to me? I hear yours too. I see the way you look at me. Do you see the way I look at you, sweetheart?” He speaks yearningly. You find yourself feeling breathless.
Running his hand through his hair once more, he inhales deeply, seemingly gathering courage. You await in anticipation at his next words.
“I love you.”
“I love you y/n. It’s driving me fucking insane at this point,” he utters with almost a light edge of desperation. Your lips part; you wish you could be surprised. But, you knew this was coming, it was only a matter of time of who would put their high walls down and crumble first.
You didn’t expect Taehyun to do it. That much more he made himself vulnerable, to think that he thought of you so highly. You regard him with the sweetest gaze and a subtle smile on your lips.
Suddenly, you lean forward pressing your lips against his, moving your lips against his with a ferocity that took Taehyun off-guard. His arm slides around your waist as his other hand takes your hand placing it on his shoulder. The intense kiss lasts a few seconds before you part breathless; an imbecilic smile on your face.
“Princess, you-?” His eyes glimmer unsurely.
“I love you too, Taehyun,” you murmur letting your fingers caress his cheek, “Let me repeat it once more, I love you too.”
“But-“ he begins in initial surprise, you shush him, “No, I reciprocate your feelings. I’ve felt this way for a while. Don’t doubt it. You have too, haven’t you?” He remains quiet before a chuckle escapes his lips, “It was a matter of time, wasn’t it?”
“Who was willing to become the most vulnerable, first,” you resume. “I suppose you’ve allowed me to be more comfortable with expressing myself,” he murmurs with a genuine smile. “I’m glad, Taehyun,” you hum, joy filling you.
“What does that make us then, hm?” He muses as his hand once again takes yours. “What do you think, Taehyun?” You hum back.
“Lovers? A princess falling for a sorcerer rather than a prince or her knight?” He murmurs smirking. You muse, “Why must the story always be the same? Who said the princess must always go for those two?”
“The court won’t approve,” he states. “They won’t,” you nod, “But that doesn’t stop me from loving you. Perhaps, perhaps if my parents were around, this wouldn’t occur. But,” you shakily sigh, “They’re not. My word, as the heir to the throne, is final. If they disapprove, so be it, it is a hardship I am willing to handle.”
Taehyun gazes at you so longingly that it leaves you quiet. “As you wish, your highness,” he coyly hums. Rolling your eyes, “Oh hush with that nonsense.”
“Do not think for a second, I’ll ever leave your side, sweetheart,” he murmurs seriously. With a smile, you murmur, “I never thought that for a single moment, Taehyun.”
He gives you a smile, a rather endearing one, in fact making you release a laugh. “What?” Taehyun questions. Shaking your head, you wrap your arms around him and hug him, “Nothing.”
You feel rather content for the first time in a long time. A sense of safety, security and being cherished. You felt unstoppable with him by your side, perhaps it was naive, no, foolish to think that way but he truly did give you a newfound confidence.
After lounging around more and discussing a few more things related to confronting Sehun, Taehyun gets up, beginning to slide his cloak over his shoulders and hoisting his boots on.
“Mm, I need to restock on some herbs otherwise the food we make will taste shit. Perhaps, I can also hunt while I’m out there. Pick some berries too, I’m overdue.”
He slings his satchel over his shoulder and grabs two wicker baskets. “I’ll be out for a few hours, don’t panic if I run late after the sunset.” You nod with a frown, “Try to come back quickly.”
Taehyun grins, “Why? Scared the Bloodmoths are going to get you?” You scoff, “No, I’m just worried that you have only just healed and you’re already putting yourself in danger.”
“I do not plan to eat different variations of soup for another day longer, sweetheart. So, off I go,” he hums.
“Don’t open the door if you hear anything. Creatures here are rather different due to the magic phenomena here. Keep all the window curtains closed and always keep the candles lit alright. I’ll be back quick,” he smiles.
You nod, slightly at unease. He had done this several times even before you knew each other. It was his way of life here, why were you so paranoid? Perhaps, because you were both so happy for once. Afraid that he wouldn’t come back.
He bids you adieu and you’re left to your own company in the dimly lit cabin. It felt empty without him. You spend the next half an hour getting comfortable on the sofa, finding the drafty cabin to make your eyelids feel heavier and heavier. A nap, would perhaps suffice to allow the time to pass and prevent your mind from wandering. Yes, a nap indeed - you close your eyes content.
A pair of sharp eyes peer as he finally ascertains that Taehyun is far enough away. A smirk lines his lips, “My, my, you really have made yourself at home here, haven’t you?” His gaze darkens as he stands up from his crouching. Of course he did, not like he’d die out so easily; a scoff leaves Yeonjun’s lips. Of course he’d be a thorn in his side all these years later.
The palace in Fortuna was oddly in pindrop silence. A malicious smile appears on Yeonjun’s lips thinking about the events that had transpired these last few days. Sehun’s death came as an apparent shock rattling the Royal Court and the citizens of Fortuna who considered this to be a terrible omen. Now, there was no Royal Family to head the country.
“Oh poor Sehun, the poor boy. To think suicide would be his cause of death.” Well, if only the public and court knew. Everything was transitioning smoothly.
He still remembers when some of the members of the Royal Court naturally approached him. His eyes riddled with fake tears; and sniffling as though Sehun actually meant something to him. It was laughable to Yeonjun, really. He knew damn well why the members of the court approached him.
After all, he’d be the most apt choice to be placed at Fortuna’s figurehead. “Yeonjun, think about it, alright? We know it’s a lot to ask and we’re not pressuring you. If not, we can arrange for someone else.”
Bastards, he knew everyone in that damn hall wanted the position he was now set up for. These empty words and fake reassurances. Ha! These lords, chancellors and barons, all of them, they were just as filthy, just as happy as Yeonjun was about Sehun’s death.
It left the ruling spot empty, that’s why. Not for long. Currently, Yeonjun was the figurehead, temporary monarch, per se. Well, he’d make it permanent.
His mind drifts back to two days ago; when he found himself sitting on the Royal Throne. The servants all grimacing with disgust or appallment. The chancellor and treasurer were infuriated.“What is the meaning of this insolence?” “How dare you sit on the throne, as though you were King?”
“Because I will be.” The words had left his mouth sharper than any blade sending shivers into the two men. He had summoned his wand pointing it at the two as the guards in the room held their weapons up. “I will be King. The beginning of a new era. The Kim Dynasty is over.”
“Guards, stop this. This is treason,” the chancellor had yelled but to no avail. The guards held still. They were ordered to do so, after all.
The treasurer had been horrified at this stumbling back. Perhaps the recent deaths had some meaning after all. A purpose.
The foolish chancellor had rushed forward in his fury, making Yeonjun smirk. Well he had supposed, it was about time he taught these sorry fools a lesson, albeit, he didn’t think it would be so soon.
Thus, he had turned the chancellor into stone, in front of the guards and the treasurer’s very eyes. He still enjoyed the terrified expression on the treasurer's face as he fell to his knees, mortified.
Oh how good it felt to finally hear, “Your highness,” fall from his lips. He would stop at nothing, not even a rebellion to lose this position. Not with his sorcery. He’d make the people love him.
Yeonjun shakes his head; shattering his memories. Well now, he’d take matters into his own hands. There was still one glaring problem. The two of you. Not even you, rather insignificant as you were. It was mainly Taehyun that he was after.
Yeonjun mutters walking out from the shrubbery and brushing himself off, “Fucking nuisance, always has to get involved.” A breathless laugh leaves his lips, poor you. Because Taehyun had gotten involved, now you’d be an extra casualty. He may have even left you alone, if you’d been just a good little princess and ran off and started afresh.
Not many could traverse the Woods of Mors, rather difficult terrain, strange creatures and illusions. Any ordinary human would go insane in here, but of course, any magic user would be safe. Yeonjun had not expected much when he stepped foot in here. Though when he cast a spell; he was shocked to find an intense mana source resonating from within the woods.
Who would have thought it would be Taehyun's lovely little decrepit abode? Yeonjun chuckles, stepping forward towards the cabin. His eyes widen as feels a light buzz and he notices a subtly glowing dome around the cabin.
How very clever, of course he wouldn’t leave you so vulnerable. A force field, just enough to stop the dim-witted creatures here - but not him. He reaches his hand through it and grunts in pain as he utters an enchantment. Within seconds, the force field dissipates.
Smirking, he strides ahead reaching the door and gives it a knock. Hm, how would your pretty little face look upon seeing him and not your beloved companion?
You’re woken up by a sudden knocking. Yawning, you peer at the door. Was Taehyun back already? Abruptly, you stand and walk over, but before you could open the door. You hesitate. A nervousness permeates your lower stomach and swirls uneasily. Why were your instincts acting up?
Who else would be here? No creature would knock like a human would, could they?
You halt; you were smarter than this. Perhaps, peeking through the curtains would be better first. Thus, you do. You delicately peek through the curtains and immediate nausea fills your senses. No. No. No.
No way. Had Sehun sent Yeonjun to come find you? How could they have possibly known? You were all alone, against a formidable sorcerer? Your hands tremble as your lips quiver. Perhaps he’ll leave when he realises no one is home. Maybe he’ll think you’ve gone out with Taehyun.
You slink down onto the floor shakily, your breaths tumbling out of you as panic sets in. This wasn’t good. This came out of nowhere! You really hope Taehyun will come back soon!
Another knock resounds out, harsher this time. Another one. Fear consumes you as you find your legs unable to get up. This couldn’t be happening.
It goes eerily silent all of a sudden. Your breath hitches and muscles stiffen. Did he leave?
Just as your shoulders begin to ease, the door creaks. You hear a small sound reminiscent of chimes and the muffled murmur of his voice. Instantaneously, the front door flies off its hinges crashing into the wall and what little furniture there was with a humongous clatter. A scream rips out of your lips as you cover your head and curl up onto the floor.
Of course! Of course he uses his sorcery! Tears drip down your face as you clamp your eyes shut. The floor creaks as footsteps walk towards you accompanied by an incredibly demeaning chuckle.
“Goodness me, princess. Did I scare you?” Yeonjun muses. He coos, “If only you had opened the door, the first time I knocked. Too bad you’re a cautious little thing aren’t you? Did Taehyun teach you that? To not open the door for anyone, hm?” A breathy chuckle escapes his lips, almost as if he’s restraining his excitement.
You shiver, pitiful whimpers leaving your lips as you sit up peering back at the broken door. “Oh, I'm sure he can replace it. Just a little wood and his wand, hm? He won’t be too mad will he?” Yeonjun grins. The light from outside gleams in around him, making his tall figure that looms even more menacing.
He takes a step forward; his gaze trailing your frightened form as you scoot back. “Oh? Do you not recognise me, princess? Or was I so insignificant in your eyes? I suppose your brother was more keen.”
You steel yourself and speak with hatred in your tone, “Did Sehun send you here?”
For a moment he ponders your question before throwing his head back laughing. “How funny! Oh princess, princess, no. I came here of my own volition.” You stiffen. What? Did he come for Taehyun, not you?
“Did…did you come for Taehyun?” You stammer shakily. Yeonjun walks forward with a sinister smile, “Oh? Why do you ask that? Did he tell you about our little history?”
You go quiet. “Oh so he did,” Yeonjun darkly hums. “Oh, you must hate me, no? Despise me for my betrayal. I could sit here and plead for your approval, beg you to hear my side of the story princess, but you know what? I won’t.”
You tremble; the look in his eyes. It scares you; it’s deranged. The look of a predator who had finally locked in on its prey, knowing it would succeed with its kill.
“To think that pitiful waste of space got tangled up in your mess. What? Did you bat your pretty lashes up at him, beg at his feet and cry your little heart out, princess? He’s not easy to sway or get to open up, y’know?” Yeonjun muses looking down at you. Tears drip down your face.
He crouches down right in front of you with a dark smile. “Hm, just how much has he told you? Everything about me?” You seethe shakily, “You’re despicable, being partly responsible for their exile. You could have spoken up against your father.”
Yeonjun chuckles running his fingers through his blonde strands of hair, “Against my father? My, he really went into the gritty details, huh? You two have gotten real close, hm?”
Yeonjun’s eyes gaze at your nervous visage before dropping to your neck, his eyes catch a glimpse of a dark, almost bruised patch and a mockingly amused gleam lights up his eyes. “My, my… I’ve got my answer. Very close it seems. Huh, didn’t think he was that type. No…I didnt think he was your type.”
He laughs as you feel disgusted; your hand flies up to hide the love bite. “Oh, then I’m sure he won’t like me taking you away from him then.” You stiffen. “What?”
“You’re coming back to the palace, princess,” Yeonjun utters nonchalantly. “No-“ you yelp, scooting back and he sighs almost in a frustrated tone, “Oh don’t make this difficult.”
“You plan to hand me over to Sehun. He’ll- he’ll imprison me, no- execute me!”
Yeonjun stands up, looming over you with a malicious laugh leaving his lips, “Oh? I suppose I should break the news, eventually, though I suppose you’ll be happy.” He leans down slightly as his voice deepens, “He’s dead. Sehun is dead, princess.” His words seems to send whiplash throughout your body, “W-What?”
“He took his own life, tragic, hm?” Yeonjun muses. You quiver, “No, no. I don’t believe you. Surely, he wouldn’t after all he’s done…” Your eyes flicker panicked, “Who’s running the kingdom? The people?”
Yeonjun smiles and hums, “Look at you, getting worried for your beloved people, how noble. No need to fret,” he reaches his hand out grabbing your wrist, “I’m in charge.”
Writhing your wrist in his vice-like grasp, you grit out, “What? Temporarily, you mean.”
“Oh no; I plan to make it quite permanent princess,” Yeonjun tugs harshly and you stumble forward, your face inches from his. “And the last thing I want is the two of you ruining everything at the last minute,” he darkly whispers; his breath caressing your face. He almost says with sudden hushed glee, “So, come with me. Or I’ll make you. Who knows, maybe taking a walk with me may be good for both of us?”
You snarl, shoving him away and getting up, “You disgraceful man, all you care about is yourself. The nation is hanging on by a thread, thousands of lives are dependent and here you are. You selfish bastard!” You rage. Yeonjun’s jaw tightens, “Don’t piss me off, princess. It will not be pretty, I really am trying to be gentle with you.”
You bitterly scoff, “You are just a pitiful excuse of a man. No matter how much power you wish to have, nothing will change the weakness that lies inside of you. The pitiable jealousy you have. The urge to show others that you are superior.” His gaze becomes malevolent as he summons his wand in his right hand.
“Mm, aren’t you quite the talker? Reminds me of your brother, he was always quite foolish in these situations. Never really knew when to keep his mouth shut,” he sends a shot of mana aimed at you and you duck with yelp; it barely misses you.
He steps forward, his wand prickling with intense mana energy. The air was heating up, he was infuriated. “You have no idea what I’ll do to get what I want. How far I’m willing to go. And what I want now is you back in the palace.” You snarl, “You are insane!”
Yeonjun marches forward, grasping your forearm and you scream with all your might. You stretch your arm, leaning over to the kitchen counter and grabbing the knife and swinging it towards him. He lets go with a breathless laugh, “Now that was dirty move, princess.”
You really hope Taehyun heard you, or at least comes back by instinct. Your eyes peer at the opening where the door was. You were trapped here within these walls, you had to get out. Yeonjun catches your gaze and he menacingly murmurs, “Don’t even think about it.”
Immediately, you bolt, shoving past him and make your way to the exit. Before you can even make it one step outside, you feel your body suddenly buzz; a similar feeling when mana has entered your body. You feel electrified before a sharp pain pierces you. Your knees buckle and within moments; your vision blacks out.
Yeonjun sighs as he hears the thud of your body fall against the cobbled path. How unfortunate, he wanted to kindly escort you back, but no, you just had to take the hard route, as most people did. Well, he supposes it will do you some good to get some shut eye for the next few hours.
He can’t help but smirk as he sees your unconscious face, brushing the hair out of the way. Huh, no wonder Taehyun didn’t say no. Who could deny such a pretty face? Perhaps, if he’d waited a bit longer when he was younger, he’d have manipulated you, instead of Sehun. It would have been far more enjoyable for so many years. Having you as a lover, would have made it much easier to get the crown, no, you’d have probably handed it over to him, yourself.
Yeonjun muses, “Mm, if only you’d have been a little more cooperative.”
Wherever you were.
He was bound to follow.
Yeonjun’s eyes peer at the cabin and the messy interior, scattered books and broken furniture. Hm, surely he couldn’t leave without leaving a little gift for his dearest old friend. He snaps his fingers murmuring a few words as a spark escapes his fingers landing at the doorframe. Not like he’d need this place for much longer anyway.
Immediately flames begin travelling up the rickety wood and the house groans as if in pain. A twisted expression of admiration appears on Yeonjun’s face. His years of hard work, burning down. Perhaps, it was a touch too cruel, but he had to be humbled. After all, he shouldn’t have gotten involved. He needs to learn his lesson again.
With a prompt grunt, he scoops you up into his arms, beginning to walk. He smiles malevolently peering down at you.
“See you soon, old friend,” he hums, taking one final glance at the now blazing cabin before walking off with you in his arms.
Smoke rises from atop the forest canopy, though this time, not from a chimney, but from the burning remains of one’s desire to hope and dream.

It started like any other day, which was a real cliché to put it. You walk into the station with your usual heavy eyelids and even heavier shoulders. Sleep was something you’d given up when you first started working as a detective, but the word was definitely out of your dictionary when you picked up the case. Most of your colleagues wouldn’t pick up the case. Mainly because they knew you’d be the first one to take it. However, after ten months you still haven’t found any new leads. Six months of chasing after ghosts and you always returned emptyhanded.
This morning, you had something into your hands. Flung into them, rather. A coffee and a file, courtesy of Jongin. Normally there’d be a smile gracing his face and a joke soon to follow to lighten up your mood. Instead there was a frown as he motioned down at the file in your hands.
“That’s number 21.”
You’re grim and you know it’s very apparent. How could you not be with the numbers stacked this high? You mumble a thanks and allow Jongin to linger a bit. He wants to say something, and you know it, but you also know he’s conflicted about whether or not he should continue bothering you.
“Jongin, I’m not dropping the case.”
He purses his lips and takes a tactical sip of his own coffee. After a moment to find the right words he sighs. “I know. I wouldn’t dream of trying to rip you away from that.”
A dry chuckle leaves you and you shake your head almost dotingly at your junior. “Of course.” You point a pen towards the office everyone knew too well after getting chewed out at least thrice. “But that doesn’t mean she won’t. She’s been on my ass for a while.” You’ve joked with your peers about the Boa Constrictor keeping you in her hold until you concede, but you’d never been on the receiving end of it until now. Except you definitely weren’t about to let go of this case.
There’s a moment of silence while he tries to come up with something else to say and you busy yourself with the new file. You curse when you look at the girl’s photo and information. “She’s only 15.” Jongin hums and scans over the information with you. He takes her photo out from beneath the paperclip and holds it up to the board where there were faces of 20 other girls on them.
“She doesn’t look like any of the others.”
“Not at all. She’s got some similar features to some, but… there isn’t a type.”
“If they even are getting kidnapped.” You scoff at that before taking the photo and thumbtacking it to the board. “Not that I’m saying you’re on a wild goose chase or anything, but…” He takes another sip of his coffee. You know the mug is empty. “21 girls who don’t have any connection to each other besides living in the same city… It’s really difficult to determine if they’re all being kidnapped or just-”
“Runaways, I know.”
“Look, they’re all around the ages too. Teen angst, wanting to start fresh in another city, eloping with a secret lover.” He sighs wistfully and moves to take another sip until he remembers his empty cup. “21 girls. No relation. Some of them did sports, but it’s a range. Some of them are in the same school district, but they have different schedules. Two of them lived in the same neighborhood, but that’s in a whole block of apartments.”
Your eyes linger at the girl’s face a couple seconds longer. You’ve heard it too many times by all the others to know that Jongin is implying they could be all coincidences. People runaway all the time, it’s true. You’ve definitely closed those sorts of cases and convinced a couple of them to work it out and return home. You just wish you had some concrete proof that this was different.
Jongin turns away, about to leave and continue his own work after getting more coffee. “I’ll get out of your hair now, but I’m just worried about you. You’re losing a lot of sleep for someone who looks like they’re chasing their own tail. Take care of yourself.” He’s off before you can bark a word at him, and you roll your eyes to yourself.
You take a sip of the coffee he’d given to you moments prior, but it had gotten cold since then. It was still a bit of a kickstart to your day anyhow. You had the cases of 21 missing girls all over the city resting on your shoulders. It was a miracle you got any sleep at all. You tried your hand at anything. Possible gang relations or involvements or some group or organization, and yet you found no link. Like you said earlier, there didn’t seem to be a type that was targeted as the girls were mainly different appearance wise. You’d even thought to consider some underground sex ring, but the information you’ve collected about some of them didn’t fit the bill.
There were a couple girls who were taken in their own homes. They had been the ones living alone, except one who was taken while her three roommates were all home. They had chalked it up to her not feeling well and when they decided to check up on her, she was gone. It just didn’t sit right with you that they had done everything according to their routine and yet they supposedly just ran away. Most didn’t seem to have any motive at all to do so according to their friends and family. Even though you knew everybody’s got secrets and skeletons to hide you knew that was the truth. It was a gut feeling, but it wasn’t enough.
A buzzing noise came from your pocket and you whip your phone out to see what notification it was this time. A random message from one of your friends on social media popped up. You wanted to swipe it away, but you decided against it and opened it up. It was a friend from college who had found some old photo of the two of you at some party, dressed up with a lot of skin showing but even more teeth on display. Back then the lack of sleep you had was because of the constant studying and partying, or rather taking some free booze and dipping when you got bored. It was still fun to socialize and watch everyone stumble dumbly, though. You responded back quickly by telling her to forward it to you. Before you pocketed your phone, you retyped your passcode to unlock the phone again and went into your contacts. Thinking about college reminded you of somebody.
The moment you stepped out you heard a familiar “Hello?”
“Hi, Mrs. Kim. Just checking in like I always do.” You could almost hear the smile in the woman’s face. Tension immediately left your shoulders the moment you heard her coo your name softly. It was like it was never there at all.
“I haven’t heard from you in a while. I was just beginning to think you’d never call.” She laughs easily at her tease. She knew you would call. You always did. “I was just thinking about you actually. I heard there was another one…”
A sigh leaves your lips and you pinch the bridge of your nose before you answer. “Yeah, it’s been a rough couple of months hasn’t it?” She hums in response and you can hear her shuffling papers around, most likely sorting through the mail you know she never opens and gets to once a month at least. She pauses and you can hear her set the large pile down.
“Of course. Five months without my baby? She’s supposed to be starting school in a couple months. She was so excited when she got accepted. They have the best music program in the state, you know.” You knew all too well that her daughter was to be going to school at the best music school in the state. You listened to some of her recordings before after her mother had shown you. You like to think that it was just because of a mother’s pride, but you think it was to hear her daughter’s voice again as she talks through the piece and giggles at a small slip up in one of them.
It almost pained you that you couldn’t find her with what you had now. You were still as clueless as you were when she had gone missing five months ago.
“I’ll find her soon. I know I will. The next time you won’t get to see her is when you have to move her into the dorms. I promise you.” It was an unsure promise, to convince the both of you that you’d get it done. And soon. The shift from a lighthearted conversation had gotten grim fast. Those conversations had typically over the lunches you had with Mrs. Kim. She was the first case of this bunch and also the most optimistic of the friends and family. You felt that you had to keep her updated and in turn she continued to put her trust in you.
“I know. She’s counting on you; I just know it. She knows you’ll get it done somehow.” The words strike you in your core. That’s right, there’s a lot of people counting on you right now. One more family just got added to the list this morning. You try not to think about the handful of others that decided to have you stop looking after they’ve given up that their daughters would come back. It pained you to have them retract their hope enough to have you close their cases, but you wouldn’t stop even if they asked you. You didn’t want to have to leave them in the dark while their daughters were missing. Lord knows you were considering a murderer, but no bodies had turned up to your relief. You just hoped you didn’t have to continue praying for it not to happen.
The call ended quickly, and you spent the next couple of hours going over your information and collecting information from the family of the newest missing girl. She was hanging out with friends when she was all of a sudden separated from the group at the mall. It was a busy place, but camera footage and eyewitnesses last saw her roaming in a store before her trail goes cold. This was frustrating. Rumors had spread about the girl going missing already, but since she was a teen most people assumed that she just ran away. She was pretty social according to her friends, and they just chalked it up to her personality and hanging with the wrong crowd. You decided to ponder over it on your lunch break, calling up your regular lunch partner to meet you at some café a couple blocks away.
Sehun doesn’t have to wave you over for you to sit down at the table you know he’s already at. It’s almost a ritual, to eat at this café every other week and sitting at the same table, nonetheless. He smiles warmly at you and pushes a plate towards you. “I already ordered for you. And don’t worry, I paid for it as a thank you for last time.” You mumble your thanks with a mouthful of food, briefly remembering the time you covered for his ride home after one drink too many.
“You’re godsent, you know that?” His smile turns into a smirk at that and you roll your eyes when you see you’ve stoked his ego. “Before you say ‘I know’, take out that notepad.” His smirk drops and a look of concentration comes onto his face.
“You know, sometimes I like to think you keep eating lunch with me because you like me or that we’re friends or something. But I also tend to think you only keep me around for my work.” He’s teasing you again and you tap the top of his notepad.
“You’re very much aware how much I like having you around. And I’m very much aware about how much you love to collect the information. Sometimes I think you only come back to hang out with me is because I’m not as tightlipped as some of my peers and give you things you can actually report on.” Sehun chuckles at that and the crinkle around his eye is back with that childlike glimmer in the eyes. He looks a lot more at ease than his funky smirk and that impish gleam instead.
He uncaps his pen with his mouth, his other hand busy flipping to a brand-new page and holding a worn notepad with too many torn papers taken from it. He keeps the cap in his mouth and hums for you to signal he’s ready.
“She’s 15.” His eyebrows furrow and a lisped curse slips out of him as he jots it down. He shakes his head sadly at that. “Last seen at the mall with her friends. Eyewitnesses say that she was roaming one of the stores alone before she disappeared. Camera footage doesn’t pick her up leaving the mall, but it’s been picked clean.”
“Has her friends or family said anything about behavior? Being more secretive or distant lately?” Sehun’s habit of keeping the pen cap in his mouth makes his words very mumbled and hard to understand. However, being around him and working with him so often has gotten you used to his silly sounded sentences. You still reach over to pluck it from his lips and snicker that his playfully annoyed glare.
“You don’t think I’ve asked? No, parents and friends claim that nothing was up. They let me in her room and let me search to find any hidden notes. Even let me look through her diary and it was just about some kid drama at school. Seemed ordinary to me, nothing that made me have to investigate this drama. She’s not a part of it anyways, just commenting about how it’s the talk of the halls and dumb.”
Sehun taps the pen against his cheek while your fingers are fiddling with the cap. He’s obviously not to report your words verbatim as it’s not really relevant, but he does appreciate how you share your findings with him. He appreciates your trust in him that he doesn’t skew the details or add too much personal information about these people. He appreciates how you let your thoughts wander with him. You tend to loosely think around him, bouncing ideas off of him every so often or word vomiting to better understand things as you try to explain.
You’d finished with your food while Sehun continues writing and jotting down notes, most likely questions or other tidbits not too concerning for you. Whenever he asks a question he needs for the article you respond and then nudge his plate so that he eats. It goes on like this a couple moments longer until he’s out of food and questions. He finishes jotting down whatever else he wants to and sticks the tip of his pen out to you. You, used to this procedure, cap his pen and look back up into his satisfied eyes. You scoff at his smug look and avoid his gaze as he rests his chin in his hand. He continues to stare at you while you pick at any crumbs you find interesting.
“Got everything you need?”
“How about we get some dessert?” You almost object and tell him you should be back by now until he starts collecting his things and getting out of his seat. “And don’t worry. I’ll pay. You just have to pay me back next time.” You sink lower into your seat in defeat and groan, rubbing your hands over your face. He laughs a little and stands behind your seat, grabbing your shoulders and shaking you lightly. “Come on, Sugar. You’re gonna need some sugar to keep functioning the rest of the day.”
“You and your dumb nicknames are going to kill me before the stress from this case will.” He stops shaking you and gives you a fond squeeze of your shoulders.
“Let’s go before you die on me then.” You turn in your seat to watch him head towards the door before deciding to follow suit and grunting when you do get up. There’s a mini pep in his step and you’re guessing that’s because Sehun has another excuse to visit that favorite bakery of his that a friend of his works at. You couldn’t blame him. There were some doughnuts and cupcakes that were to die for.
As you passed by, you saw some missing persons posters hung up in some alley walls or taped to some lampposts. You’re guessing that’s how Mrs. Kim got news of the missing girl before you caught up with her. Sehun notices your gaze following the long trail of posters, most likely hung up by the gang of girls that were last with their friend. “Is that her?” The both of you come to a stop in front of a small cluster of the posters. He takes on down and holds it out in front of the both of you. You nod and Sehun folds the paper into fours and pockets it for later. “That saves me having to dig around to put that in the paper.”
He tries to keep the mood up as he hums a tune, swinging his arms around and looking around at the people walking the streets. It does little to help, but you do appreciate the thought as he glances at you every now and then to check in. He’s switched songs so many times since he opts for a different, better tune to keep him occupied. You’re trying to decipher his fifth song switch when you finally make it to the bakery.
“Kyungsoo!” Sehun sings into the shop as the door chimes noisily. Luckily, Kyungsoo isn’t tending to any customers at the moment. He pops his head out from behind the counter with a blank face and his lips drawn into a straight line. However he may look, there’s a happy sparkle in his eye at the sight of you two.
“What do you want now?” He asks sarcastically but readies himself anyways.
“I want something with chocolate.” Sehun says as he scans the overhead menu even though he knows exactly what he wants. “Please.” He doesn’t forget to add with a warm smile, which Kyungsoo returns in kind. They both turn to you expectantly and you sputter, not having anything in mind just yet.
“O-Oh! I’ll, uh… I’ll have…” You pause and bite your lips. Suddenly, you’re overwhelmed by all the choices even though you’ve been here before.
“How about some donut holes? And if you don’t like it, you can always have some of mine,” Sehun offers as he turns that warm smile to you.
“What, trying to stick with that cops eat donuts type of thing?” You joke but are grateful at the distraction from you bumbling about. Kyungsoo lets out an amused huff and prepares something for you both of you, making sure to toss in a couple extra pieces in the bag for you. You give him a silent thanks as you nod and take the bag from him as Sehun whips out his wallet in a practiced manner.
The first bite of the donut hole is full of cinnamon and a little honey. Kyungsoo’s been experimenting and you hum at the taste as you squeeze the half-bitten donut hole. As Sehun’s card is ringing up he turns to you with an eyebrow as he wordlessly asks how it tastes. Instead, you offer him the rest of your bite while you chew, and he instantly opens up his mouth to eat the rest. It’s almost like you’ve done this a million times in your life and a million more in your past lives together; you’ve known each other for that long, you think. The motion is easy and simple as he hums and turns back to collect his card and compliments Kyungsoo’s creation with his mouth full.
“It’s good. I like the new flavors, it’s better than just the boring sugar on it.” The words are muffled and both you and Kyungsoo give him a judgmental look as he wipes some of the cinnamon off the corner of his lips.
“… Thank you. I’ve been slowly trying to add more to the menu where I can,” Kyungsoo notes, and you look up again at the menu to see he’s added another couple options beside his regular few in his neat handwriting. He smiles at you again when you look back down. “Keep up the good work. Don’t push yourself, okay?”
You promise him and Sehun gently nudges you to turn and leave so he has a better exit path. It’s not like he couldn’t have gone around you, but it seems he opted to just turn and go. And with his broad shoulders, it seemed you were in his path. You nudge him back as you exit the bakery with your treats in hand.
“What are you doing tonight?” Sehun asks with his mouth full again, this time from a bite of his chocolatey pastry. Crumbs fly in the air and the snort as they do so, but your friend knows no shame and continues to look at you expectantly.
You roll your eyes with a smile. “Probably looking over the case again… and waaay more paperwork than I’m happy with.”
He hums at that as he continues to walk you back to the station. You feel like he’s about to ask you something else, but you’re cut off by your phone ringing and his own buzzing with a couple messages.
“Breaks over.” He comments with a sigh as he scrolls through the messages and tries to type back with the same hand that grips his phone.
“It is.”
The both of you look at each other and trade another bite of each other’s treats. You took a bite of his mainly since you wanted something sweet, and he had his own bite since you felt like you had to repay him for it. He gives you a wave as he, thankfully, doesn’t shout with his mouth full of donut as he heads off to his office building. While you head back, you manage to catch the phone call on its last couple of rings before it could go to voicemail.
“Hello?”
“It’s Boa. You have a couple more files on your desk regarding the girls,” she says with a tired sigh. You know the chief thinks this is wasting time and resources, but you also know she wants to give these girls justice. “Some more schedules of their routines, some stuff they had upcoming, and some chat histories. There’s also someone waiting at the station to talk to you, a friend of the most recent one.”
“I’m on my way.”
“Good,” she states and hangs up the call. You huff and make your way back to the station with a quickened pace. You wonder what this friend has to say since you’ve interviewed the family and teachers recently. Your mind is still reeling with possibilities when you make it back and find a familiar face at your desk.
“Yena, what can I do for you?” You ask kindly as you take a seat by the high school girl. She has a puffiness around her eyes that indicate she hasn’t been able to get a lot of sleep and has probably been crying a lot. You offer her some of your donut holes and she politely declines by holding a hand up before thinking of the right words to say.
Yena was the same age as her missing friend, 15 with a short bob and still wearing her school uniform. You’re wondering if she skipped school to come here, and she confirms your suspicions as she wrings her hands. “I just give you these. I found these in Chae’s locker, it’s some of her notebooks and some flyers. These events are all in the past, but one of them is her dream journal. We both keep one to achieve our dreams, except she doesn’t share hers because she thinks that the dream won’t come true then.”
You take the stack of papers and notebooks from her, eyeing the one she was referring to. It can’t be mistaken with the doodling, stickers, glitter, and large words that say ‘DREAM JOURNAL!’ right on the front.
“Thank you, Yena.” You say kindly, knowing that you’ll have even more to sort through and probably come out empty handed with, but every little bit helps. If you could be armed with even that much of a toothpick, you’d count it as a win.
“I just want my best friend to come back. That’s all I’ve been writing about in mine! I want her to come home.” Her eyes water and you push a box of tissues to her. She takes a shaky breath and dabs at her eyes gently and you realize that her eyes are redder than you thought. She dabs to prevent further irritating her eyes that have been covered in makeup to hide just how bad she’s been taking it.
“I promise, you won’t need a journal to make that come true, okay?” You say gently and comfort the poor girl. It’s another 15 minutes before she gets up and leaves, going back to school she promises.
You sigh as you look at the stack of notebooks she gave you. It was all her school notebooks besides her dream journal, which you knew wouldn’t be much of a look through unless you wanted to relieve your high school days and quiz yourself on whatever the kids were learning these days.
“You know, you shouldn’t be promising things like that.”
“Jongin, that girl was crying.”
“And you don’t think she won’t be if you can’t deliver that promise?”
You clench your hands into fists, narrowing your eyes on the word that seems to be mocking you right now. Because it might be true, you can only ‘DREAM!’ that this will all come to a happy end. Jongin sighs and pats your back.
“I’ll help you get through like 3 of those. Make sure it’s all just random notes so you know if they have anything that’s not about some ancient literature piece, okay?” He asks gently and you take a deep breath.
“Okay,” you say quietly and start sorting through the flyers first.
A lot of them are of school events, cram school, auditions for some of the modeling or singing agencies, and one was even a poster of an actor you recognized from a popular drama currently. You chuckled as you saw the sticky note still attached to it that indicated Chae’s wishes to marry a guy like him. A couple more hours pass in between you checking the notebooks, painstakingly flipping through and reading every page just to make sure, and having to deal with other logistical tasks around the office.
Like promised, Jongin eventually makes it through the notebooks and puts them all on your desk with a sad shake of his head. “Math, English, and Composition. All notes, most of it is textbook and following what they did in class. Anything else was practice problems or doodles. These are no good.”
You groan and hang your head. “I’ve just barely gotten through her other two notebooks. A music one from a piano unit and one she kept solely for cram school. The flyers are all past events or just random ones that I think were trash and she never got to throw away.” You look pointedly at the crumpled up flyer that was from her school’s ‘Fish Club’… whatever that’s about. “Had to get through all the other files from the girls too… nothing new. I saved that dream journal for last.”
“Why, so you can honor making sure her dreams come true?” Jongin asks with a smile, lifting your spirits some.
“Yeah…” You trail off absently. You aren’t sure if maybe you were truly keeping up Yena and Chae’s superstition about their dream journals or if you were hoping that the last thing you got to would prove you some substantial evidence. Maybe you should’ve gotten to that first if so. But then you would’ve needed to spend extra time on it. Ugh! Another sigh makes it way out of you and Jongin frowns now.
“Save that for tomorrow. How about you come out with some of us for some drinks tonight? Get that tension off you.” Jongin gives you an expectant look as he sits on your desk. You rub your face and look up at him through your fingers as you slouch in your chair. “And don’t even think about getting to that journal tonight. Your brain is fried, you need a break, you’re burning yourself out.”
You purse your lips at him and groan again, this time throwing your head back over the top of your desk chair and spinning in it a little.
“Fine. But only for a little bit.”
Famous last words. It was not just a little bit. Jongin kept you entertained and kept handing you drinks as you listened to your peers share drunken stories. Even Jongdae came in for a little bit to say hi to everyone and cry a little about his wife and kid, showing everyone pictures. You were sure that he was sober and just living the high of life.
A twinge of jealousy shot through you at him being able to enjoy his life so much right now. You downed your drink and stared at the empty cup grumpily. You felt just like the cup. Maybe you are a cup. Did your legs always feel like that?
“Woah, you doing okay?” Jongin asks as he gets into your space to take a look at you. He was pretty tipsy, but doing way better than you right now. Both in spirits and sobriety.
“Jongiiiiin, I’m like this cup.” He has to jump back a little as you shove your cup in his face. “You see how it’s wet on the outside?”
“From the ice?” He asks with a raised brow.
“I’m all sweaty!” You shout at him, suddenly feeling like the room is a lot hotter.
“No, you’re not.”
“Look! Feel!” You try to grab his hand to bring it up to your forehead and he grimaces. He shakes his head and you try a couple more times before he pins your hand to the table and reaches for his phone. “What are you doing?”
“Getting you home,” he says as he scrolls in his contacts. You try to look at the screen to see who he’s calling, but he brings the phone straight to his ear and turns a skeptical eye on you to make sure you don’t keep trying to bring his hand to probably stick you in the eyes.
You’re too distracted by pouting to care who he’s talking to. And your head hurts. The alcohol is hitting you fast. How much did you have again? Or was it because you drank the rest of your three-fourths of a cup in less than a minute? When was the last time you even drank like this? Since before you took on the first case ten months ago?
“He’s coming in 15,” Jongin says in your ear. You pop your head up from the table. You didn’t even know you had it down on the table in the first place.
“Who?” You ask sluggishly as you try to keep your eyes open. You don’t bother hearing a reply as you quickly make your way to the bathroom. It’s quieter in there, and colder too. You feel better already by giving yourself some space and time to think for yourself. Not really feeling like you need to get everything out just yet, you lean against the wall and take some deep breaths.
Eventually, there’s a knock on the door and a call for your name. It takes a couple more tries before you push yourself off the wall and wash your face.
“Oh, good. I thought I was going to have to pull your head out of a toilet bowl.”
You yell out in shock, water flinging everywhere when you look up to see Sehun in the mirror.
“What are you doing here?” Water drips off your chin and you remember that you were washing your face. You sigh and see if any got on your shirt – a lot did – and look for the paper towels to wipe.
“At the bar or in the bathroom?” He asks. You grunt in response, eyes blocked by the soggy paper you’re using to scrub the water from your eyes. “Jongin told me you had too much and needed to be brought home. And again, I was making sure you didn’t decide to punish yourself and give yourself a swirlie.”
“Why would I do that?” You grumble at him. Your head was a lot clearer thanks to the rest, you probably spent all of Jongin’s promised 15 minutes against that wall. Plus, the water cooling you off made you feel like you could at least walk to a car before passing out.
“He said you looked sad.”
“I’m not sad.”
He gives you a once over. Hair a mess, probably from the wall. Face still red, from scrubbing with that scratchy paper towel, embarrassment, or the alcohol, probably from all three. Clothes wet from you spilling two handfuls of water all over yourself. And the heavy burden of the finding of 21 girls coming crashing back down onto your shoulders.
“Yeah… you look pretty sad to me.”
“Thanks,” you bite a little harsher than you intend to. But, thanks to the one who made you build a tougher skin with a level of sass on his own, Sehun takes it all in stride and smiles. He merely grabs you by the shoulders and leads you out of the bar. Jongin nods and waves you off, keeping your coworkers distracted by the state you’re in so you don’t get teased when you come back the next morning.
Between the time Sehun came and got you and when he arrived, he had already transferred your stuff from your coworker’s car to his. You saw this when he helped you climb in and your bags of notebooks were sitting in the back seat. Sehun buckled you in and shut the door for you. The state of mind you were in currently clearly showed you could do at least that, but Sehun chose not to care and did it for you anyways while you watched him walk around the car to the driver’s seat.
“If you fall asleep, just know that I’m not carrying you inside.”
“So my knight in shining armor does have a flaw for tonight’s rescue.” You sarcastically bat your eyes at him and he chuckles, shaking his head and he starts towards your apartment.
“I meant to add that I’d probably be dragging you up those three flights of stairs. By your feet. Head hitting each step.” Before you can ask why in offense, he grins with a shrug. “You went through all that training, not me. All my muscles go to my ears for listening to you go on and on about cases.”
“I’m the reason why you have a job,” You grumble as you stare at the passing buildings. Sehun keeps that stupid smile on his face and laughs.
“Wouldn’t have it any other way.”
The ride to yours is a lot quicker than usual since at this hour it’s already late hardly any traffic. Again, Sehun is humming some songs and tapping his fingers against the steering wheel. At least this time there’s less of him switching it up since he’s forced to sing along for the whole 3 minutes. He’s still humming as he grabs all your stuff from the back seat and follows you up the stairs to your apartment. You silently curse the fact that the elevator is down for maintenance since you wish you didn’t have to climb that much while drunk. You feel even worse when you realize that Sehun took all of your bags and all of those notebooks, binders, and files are no joke. It’s a wonder that kids can carry all that on their backs plus whatever else you put into the bags.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Sehun asks as you pause on the steps, a little behind you and huffing a little.
“For someone who claimed he doesn’t have the strength training to carry me up the stairs, you sure are doing real fine while walking up two and a half flights of stairs and carrying all those books.” Sehun lets out another huff, shorter than usual that let you know he was working up quite a sweat.
“I work out.” He says plainly and grins at you again, which makes you roll your eyes at the statement and continue forth. He’s been over before, plenty of times. He’s come over to bring food on your sleepless nights when you just can’t sleep or spend so long trying to work on another case.
You finally make it to your apartment and eventually into your room. Sehun had set the bags down by your couch where you already had a bunch of files spread out on the coffee table. He tuts and grabs one of the papers and gives it a quick skim.
While you change into comfortable, cleaner clothes he hums and calls out from your small space. “You really need to learn about work-life balance.” He sets the paper back down and goes about preparing you some essentials for when you wake up in the morning definitely hungover.
“You know why I can’t,” you call back as you collapse onto the bed with a groan. Your body all of a sudden feels so heavy and it’s hard to keep your eyes open. You huff into your pillow as you try to block out the haunting words of all the names of the 21 girls that prevent you from sleeping at night. That prevent you from functioning unless you can figure out a way to bring them all home.
From your couch, Sehun makes himself comfy and sighs. He folds his hands over his stomach and quietly says to himself, “Yeah… I know.”

I was watching episode 9 of Exo's ladder 4 and in one part, Chanyeol, Sehun, and Baekhyun were bullying/manhandling Junmyeon because he was hiding something under his shirt and they wanted to take it away from him. So Junmyeon was being like "stop 🥰🥺" and Sechanbaek were holding his arms and legs down 😳😂

LMAOOO first of all, I love our long-suffering Suho.
but!! Suho being lovingly mauled (and occasionally stripped) by his members is no new occurence.

(Jongdae always seems to be at the scene of the crime???)
and since he's SUCH a sub and SUCH a bottom and SUCH a slut for praise when it comes to male partners........... it kinda makes you wonder, doesn't it? 🤭

Choi San : Guns And Diamonds (Part 3/3)
Pairing : Choi San (Ateez) and named character (Jung Sona)
______________________
Tumblr media
Sehun sighed as he stared at the stars through his room's window, wishing he could reverse time. It had been a week since the night he had that nightmare and his father was practically non-existent in his life now. No matter how hard sehun would try to talk to san, he would walk off before sehun could even open his mouth. Every morning when sehun sat in his breakfast table he would ask his mother whether san was going to eat with them today and her answers had always remained negative. It seems his father was scared of him now, and was avoiding him at all costs. And it hurt sehun in ways he did not expect to, he hated that he saw so less of san now.
Sehun reached for his tab in his bedside table, thinking that if he watched some of his dramas, he could go to sleep better.
It was a bad choice, because out of everything, the episode he was watching had to have an emotional father-son moment. And that just caused tears to appear in sehun's eyes, wishing he could live through a moment like this too. He had so many wishes, making friends, going out with them, finding love like how his father had found his mother, being able to be free and satisfy both his parents in the future when they got older. Turns out, none of this was going to happen if it went the way it was going right now.
Sehun kept his tab away, not having it in him to watch even one more second of this episode right now. He looked at his left hand, missing the ring he had always worn when he was much younger. But then again, he was the one who had thrown it away, wasn't he?
____________________________
Sehun was now sitting in the main balcony, looking out into the estate his house was located in with immersed eyes. It was something he had always liked, staring at the wild and all the creatures in it. He paused as he felt voices underneath the floor he was in right now, his father's voice.
San : who's come here?
??? : an old lady, boss.
San : and how does this old lady know my house?
??? : she said you told her of it's location, sir.
Sehun frowned and stood up from his seat, bending over the railing and looking down. And the man was right, there was a somewhat old lady standing at the entrance of their house, looking eagerly for someone, probably his dad. Sehun watched as san walked out of the house through the main door, his eyes slightly widening at the sight of the lady
San : ahjumma!
The old lady smiled as san walked closer to her, holding her hand with a smile. Sehun's eyes slightly widened, never having expected his father to be so kind with an old lady.
San : oh? I didn't know you'd come up till here today. Do you want some coffee-
Ahjumma : ah no mr choi, it's alright.
San : I've told you to just call me san, ahjumma. Do you want to sit down somewhere and talk, then?
??? : uh, sir you have an important meeting within 15 minutes-
San : that can wait. I'm talking to someone right now, aren't I?
??? : yes boss, I'll alert the staff.
San nodded and turned back to face the old lady as she smiled and shook her head before saying
Ahjumma : aigoo, all that isn't required. I only came here to thank you personally.
San : thank me?
Ahjumma : for giving my daughter her justice when the law couldn't, mr choi. It had been a year since she was being stalked and touched inappropriately by that man, and despite all the evidences the courts let that man go, didn't they?
San : ah, him. He won't ever come back ahjumma, ask miss kim not to worry anymore.
Ahjumma : I know, and for that I wish to thank you with all my heart. You've given my daughter a new life, mr choi. And I can't even repay you for that.
Sehun frowned, his father didn't ask for money for the job he had done?
San : oh god, I did not do that to get any money. I did it because that man truly deserved to be put in hell for the crimes he committed against an innocent lady. I don't need anything at all from you for any of this. Your happiness is more than enough.
Sehun blinked his eyes, his grip on the railing tightening at his father's words. He never realized his father did deeds such as this, and that too for free. Was this what his mother meant by "you don't know the whole story"?. And when his father said "I only hurt the bad guys, sehun-ah", sehun hadn't actually believed that. But now hearing this from one of the victims, and his father refusing to take any money from her, he felt himself finally understanding what exactly his father's work was.
Sehun was wrong after all, his father wasn't a terrible human being.
_______________________
Sehun waited until it was 1am, even having to pretend to be asleep when his mother came to check on him an hour ago. He was now walking quietly towards his father's office, knowing this was the time san would be alone, going through papers. Sehun remembered going to his father sometimes at night after his mother fell asleep when he was younger, begging his father to take the ice-cream that was located at the top of the fridge, where sehun couldn't usually reach. Now he was taller and he could reach it if he jumped, but he wanted to talk to his dad and this was his only excuse.
Sehun knocked on the door before opening it slightly, san's eyes widening as he stood up from his chair at the sight of his son. Sehun entered the room with unsure steps as he kept looking at the floor
San : why are you here?
Sehun looked up at his dad, fiddling with his fingers as he said
Sehun : I uh…wanted ice-cream.
San : right now?
Sehun : mhmm.
San : why would you ask me for it, though? I thought you were scared of me?
Sehun : a-appa, that…I was just having a nightmare-
San : it still doesn't matter. You should stay away from me.
Sehun : appa, I'm not scared of you.
San stared at Sehun for a few seconds before letting out a breath as he said
San : you just want some ice-cream, right? Come along.
San walked past sehun with a blank face, sehun following right behind him to the kitchen. The both of them soon reached the kitchen, san opening the top level of the fridge as he took out the tub of mint chocholate ice-cream from it. He placed it on the table before closing the fridge and was about to walk away when sehun gripped the edge of san's hoodie. San paused, turning around to face sehun with a frown
San : what is it?
Sehun : won't you eat with me like you always do?
San : well we're not like we always were anymore, are we?
Sehun : but I want us to be like that again.
San : like what, seeing each other only for eating ice-creams? You told me I wasn't a good father even before the night you had a nightmare, sehun.
Sehun looked on the floor, feeling his heart break at his own words.
San : you told me you only wanted me to fix the problem I had with sona and now it's fixed. So then what else do you want me to do now?
Sehun bit his lips, feeling his eyes tear up as he whispered
Sehun : I want an appa too…
San paused, staring at his son.
Sehun : I don't wanna go out in crowded places, or have any friends or even…attend some proper school until I'm a proper adult. I don't want any of those things anymore because I know I can't really have them. I can always just watch those through dramas and…imagine myself in it, I have a good imagination. But I can't imagine a father, appa. I don't want to when I have one.
San looked away, feeling tears in his eyes once again. He was having to face this again.
Sehun : you don't have to spend your entire day with me, you can just…have ice-creams with me at night and I'd be content with that. Can't we do that?
San let out a breath as he asked
San : so what, you've forgotten about the fact that I'm a mafia? Someone who does terrible things?
Sehun : I know you're a mafia, but I also know you don't do terrible things.
San : suddenly you have a realization, choi sehun?
Sehun : no I…overheard your conversation with the ahjumma this morning.
San : and if you hadn't, you'd still have continued pushing me away for the rest of your life? Until I died?
Sehun : you're being cruel, appa-
San : well then that's the world for you, son. You ask for something, you don't always get that. I asked for a peaceful life, but am I getting it? No. I asked for a happy family. And did I get that? No. you said it was because of me your life was cursed, didn't you? And it's true, because if you'd have had a different father, you wouldn't have had to sacrifice a lot of these things.
Sehun looked at his father with teary eyes, clenching his hand on the tub of ice-cream in his hand
San : so just continue hating me like you used to, sehun. That would be the best for you and I both. Less complications, less unhappiness.
San turned and left, leaving a heartbroken Sehun behind as he felt tears fall down his eyes. This wasn't what he intended to happen, this wasn't the san he so desperately wished for. He had just made it all worse now.
San climbed up the stairs weakly, feeling his eyes tear up as well. Lord, how desperately he wished to have a good relationship with his son. But he knew he could never be someone like that to his son, he knew he could never be a good father. And back when san was younger, he had always thought it would've been better for him if he didn't have a father rather than have one that was just terrible. He thought the same now. It would be better for Sehun to have no father at all than have a terrible one. And san couldn't leave completely from sehun's life, so this was the only way.
Even if it hurt san, it would be the better option for Sehun. And he was the only one that mattered in this case.
___________________________
San was in his home office at an unusual time today. Because during the afternoons he was usually in his office tower back in the city, not here. But he left early from the tower today, because he had received a mission from an important government authority. It was as every government mission was, kill. Except this would require time and planning, since this particular person was at a pretty top position and was also only visiting Korea for a few days for business. Which meant san had to come up with his own plan this time, instead of assigning this mission to someone else. And san always preffered to be alone when he was trying to come up with some sort of a plan, hence why he was in his house, where there'd be minimal disturbances. Especially now since sona was still at work.
San had been halfway through it when a knock was heard on his door, the door opening a few seconds later as it revealed one of the maids. San leaned back against his chair as he asked
San : what is it?
Maid : uh, the young master hurt himself while he was playing in the garden-
The maid cut herself off as san quickly stood up from his chair, rushing towards the door as he asked impatiently
San : where is he?
Maid : his room, sir.
San didn't say anything further as he ran towards his sehun's room, his heart beating hard against his chest. God, he hated whenever sehun got hurt. He was going to fire the person who was with sehun this afternoon. San quickly opened the door to sehun's room as sehun looked up at his father with confused eyes. San's eyes fell to sehun's knee, that had a pretty deep cut on it. The maid that had been bandaging it stood up at the sight of san, bowing as she said
Maid : sir-
San : leave.
Maid : but the bandage-
San : I'll do it, leave.
The maid nodded and quickly left the room, leaving san and sehun alone in the room. San sighed and kneeled down to face sehun's knee, picking up the bandage as he asked
San : did she apply the antiseptic, sehun?
Sehun : she did.
San nodded as he continued bandaging the wound, his jaw clenched every time he felt sehun wincing.
Sehun : please don't fire the maid that was with me while I was playing, appa.
San : she failed at her one job, sehun. Give me one reason why I shouldn't fire her.
Sehun : she has a family to take care of, she's only a single mother, appa. And this is her only source of income.
San : well then you are my only son, and your safety matters more to me than her children.
Sehun : I-I know. But-
San : I'll shift her duties from taking care of you to something else. Her salary will remain the same, but she cannot take care of you any longer.
Sehun sighed and nodded, thinking that was fair enough. San looked up at his son as he asked
San : does it not hurt?
Sehun : the wound?
San : mm, it's pretty deep.
Sehun : well, I can bear the pain. It is only my pain after all, it's bearable.
San finished bandaging the wound, keeping the bandage away as he said
San : you're a child, sehun. Act like one.
Sehun : okay then.
San flinched as sehun suddenly started screaming, faking a cry as well before saying
Sehun : AAH IT HURTS SO BAD! I WANT A LOLLIPOP!!
San : I-
Sehun : LOLLIPOPS! RIGHT NOW!
San laughed at his son's acting, shaking his head as he said
San : god, that was terrible. Please don't pursue acting as your career in the future, son.
Sehun giggled as he said
Sehun : oh cuz I was totally planning to audition for the main lead in some rom-com.
San smiled as he shut the medicine box, keeping it away. Sehun looked at his dad, thinking of how beautiful he looked when he smiled. It was just like my own, sehun thought. Maybe he should audition for some main lead after all.
Sehun : you look beautiful when you smile, appa.
San looked up at his son with partly shocked eyes, not having expected him to say that.
Sehun : it almost made my wound heal itself~
Sehun giggled at his own cheesiness, making san chuckle once again. He was just like his mother, with all those cheesy dialogues and what not, san thought.
_____________________________
2 weeks later :
Sona tapped her fingers against the couch as she felt nervousness build up in her stomach, not understanding why san still wasn't back from his mission. He had told her all about it the night before, and every time san went on such missions, sona couldn't help being scared to the core. She didn't know what to expect when san came back home, and she didn't even want to think about if san didn't come back home at all.
Her head shot up as she heard the sound of a car outside their mansion, sona quickly standing up and rushing outside into the main entrance. Her eyes widened as one of san's men emerged from the driving side of the car, clearly indicating that san was wounded. Sona ran up to them as the man slowly lifted san up from the passenger seat, sona's heart dropping at the sight of her husband.
Sona : no.
San : love, it's a-alright.
Except it wasn't. san had a stab wound on his arm, his face covered in blood and the top of his forehead having a deep scratch to it as well. And he was limping, which meant it definitely hurt. Sona quickly ran to san's side, holding onto him as she helped in carrying san to the inside of their house.
Sona : god, I've told you so many times to be careful, san!
San was glad this was the only wound he received. Not to say he wasn't quite shocked that the other man was able to wound him this bad. No one had ever really been able to wound san before.
San : it's just a small wound, sona-ya, it'll heal.
Sona let out an exasperated breath as she pulled out her phone from her pocket, dialing their personal doctor's number as she called him up.
___
Sehun heard it too, the car's sound as the large gates opened up for his father's car. And as he ran towards his balcony and looked down, he noticed his father sitting in the passenger seat, his head rested against the seat. Which only meant one thing, his father was hurt. Because san hated sitting in the passenger seat, he had always preffered to be the one driving the car instead.
Sehun ran down the stairs, not bothering about the scoldings he might receive from his mother for still not being asleep yet despite it being 1am. He couldn't care to be asleep when he knew his father had gone out for something dangerous, he had overheard some conversations again.
Sehun reached the living room the same time sona laid san down on the couch, san letting out a small groan from the pain.
Sehun : appa!
San's eyes widened as he looked up at sona, her eyes alarmed as well. Neither of them had expected sehun to come down at this time of the night.
Sona : sehun?
San : sona, take him away from here. He mustn't see all this.
Sona quickly stood up, trying to take sehun back to his room. The last thing she wanted was her son to see his father covered in his own blood. Sehun shook his head as he tried taking his mother's hands off his own.
Sehun : no, let me go! I want to see appa.
Sona : not right now, please. Go back to your room, sehun-ah.
Sehun : why do I have to go back to my room? Will you be able to do the same when he's hurt like this? I don't wanna sleep, eomma. Let me see him.
Sona : hun-ah, it's not a pretty sight-
Sehun : I've seen worse in those photos, I can manage.
Sehun finally took sona's hands off him as he ran up to san, his eyes widening at his father's state. San shut his eyes and whispered weakly
San : why the hell won't you ever listen, choi sehun.
Sehun kneeled right in front of san, holding his wrist as he looked at the stab wound with attentive eyes.
San : sehun-
San cut himself off as sehun grabbed a pillow behind san, placing it under his arm before placing san's arm over it.
San : what are you doing, son.
Sehun : elevating the bleeding area above the level of the heart to slow down the bleeding. We can't lose too much blood, it's hard to find someone with O negative blood.
San blinked his eyes in confusion as he looked at sona, who had a small proud smile on her face.
Sehun : and pressure, I need to put pressure.
San : that-
San cut himself off once again with a sound of shock as sehun tore off a part of his own shirt, scrunching it before pressing it against the wound, hard enough to make san groan in pain.
Sehun : eomma, we need to take him to the hospital.
Sona sighed and shook her head before saying
Sona : we can't, I've called the personal doctor. He'll come here soon enough.
Sehun : but the hospital has better facilities-
Sona : but they would also ask us where san got these wounds from in the first place. And what would we tell them?
Sehun let out an exasperated breath, looking back at the wound. Sona leaned down and kissed san's forehead before whispering
Sona : I'll check where doctor bae has reached and be right back, hmm?
San gave his wife a small smile and nodded as sona walked away from them, calling up the doctor. San turned to look at his son before asking
San : where did you learn all this, sehun-ah?
Sehun : I like medicine, as a matter of fact I wish to be a surgeon when I grow up. So I've been doing my own little studies.
San felt a feeling of pride swell in his chest, feeling happy that his son wanted to save lives rather then cut them off as san and his father, and his grandfather had done before them. Sehun was breaking the chain, and san could only feel happy about it.
Sehun : does it hurt a lot, appa?
San : it's only my own pain, it's bearable.
Sehun chuckled as san repeated the same thing sehun had said when he fell down a few weeks ago, making san smile.
Sehun : I hate seeing you hurt.
San : I hate seeing you hurt too.
Sehun looked at san, feeling his eyes burn. San smiled and held sehun's cheek with one of his hand, whispering to him
San : I'm sorry.
Sehun shook his head, holding san's hand
Sehun : why should you be sorry.
San : because I've broken the promise I made to you when you were born. To protect you, to be with you, to make you happy.
Sehun : you haven't broken any of that, appa. You still protect me, and you still make me happy. As for being with me, I understand your circumstances. It's quite respectable if you think of it.
San : really?
Sehun : yes, really. I told you earlier, didn't I? I don't mind your work anymore, appa.
San smiled at sehun, running his hand along sehun's hair. Jet black, just as his was.
San : so…you don't hate me anymore?
Sehun : I couldn't even if I tried.
San pressed his lips and nodded before putting his unharmed hand onto the pocket of his jeans, making sehun frown. San soon pulled out sehun’s ring that he had thrown at him a while ago, making sehun tear up from the harsh memory.
Sehun : you’ve been...carrying this around?
San : it was my only physical reminder of you when I was away and you were still angry at me. I needed it.
Tears fell from sehun’s eyes, wishing once again he could reverse time. San chuckled and wiped sehun’s tears before whispering
San : don’t cry. Why would you cry like that.
Sehun sniffled and shook his head before holding out his left hand as he said
Sehun : I wanna be your son again. Until I die, this time.
San smiled and put the ring back on sehun’s index finger, making sehun smile at it, feeling complete.
San : gimme a hug now.
Sehun : you're hurt!
San : I don't care, come here.
Sehun sighed and wrapped his arms around his father, trying not to touch any of his cuts. San smiled and whispered
San : my prince.
Sehun smiled widely at being called by his favorite nickname, feeling his heart fill up with happiness as he whispered
Sehun : I love you.
San smiled cheekily as he said
San : I love me too.
Sehun frowned and pressed san's wound harder, making san yelp as he said
San : okay! I love you too.
Sehun smiled, finally feeling all his wishes come true. All that watching father-son dramas on the internet and he'd finally gotten one himself. And damn did he prefer his over everything else.
Sona : okay well! I'd hate to break up such an amazing heartfelt moment but the doctor's about to reach soon.
Sehun giggled as san smiled, making grabby hands to his wife as he said
San : come here, you.
Sona rolled her eyes playfully before walking up to san as she said
Sona : aish, such cheesiness, I cannot.
San : learnt it from the best, my love.
Sona chuckled as she leaned down as well, wrapping her arms around her husband and son with a smile.
San : guess who's going on vacation.
Sehun gasped as he asked, already excited
Sehun : wait…where!
San : anywhere, everywhere.
Sehun : AYAYAYAYA, FINALLY!
Sona chuckled as she asked
Sona : who's gonna fund the trip?
San : me of course. I don't work this hard for nothing, I have ten bank accounts with 10 figures in all of them. And that's just one-fourth of what I have.
Sehun : not the best time to flex your riches, appa.
San smiled as he inhaled deeply, finally feeling complete despite being wounded across his entire body.
So his father was wrong after all, san thought. It wasn't guns and diamonds that made one's life complete and happy. It was family.

17 years later :
Sehun was walking through his hospital corridors, going through the papers of his patient's conditions when he felt someone grab his arm, pushing him against the wall in a corner. The papers fell from his hands as sehun gasped, looking up as the sight of a lady came to his view. Dark red lips, blue almond eyes and hair as blonde as the sand in his favorite beach.
??? : Dr choi, how good to finally meet you.
Sehun felt his heart race at the close proximity between the lady and him, her lips dangerously close to his. None of this seemed to affect the lady, though she smirked as she understood the effect she had on sehun.
Sehun : who…am I supposed to know you, miss?
??? : I'm Iris Cortez, CEO of Archer co.
Sehun's eyes widened as realization dawned upon him. Archer co was one of the wealthiest companies in the world right now. They practically manufactured and ran every thing, fashion, architecture, books, food. And of course she was a CEO, she dressed like one. With the black suit, white tie, sleek high ponytail and black heels, she couldn't be anything else.
Sehun opened his mouth and was about to say something when Iris moved closer to his ears and whispered against it
Iris : and the daughter of a man your father murdered.
Except no one was supposed to know sehun's father.

Tumblr media

S(ong) C(haracter) - Sehun
!citação de relacionamento abusivo!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Nossa filha!

hiiii today's reminder is jisung finally making an instagram and only following nasa even though I'm sure the dreamies have tried everything from begging to threatening to get him to follow them. art. true youngest sibling behaviour, the little brat (with affection).
also renjun promoting Jun on his stories made me shriek even though their friendship (all of nct and svt's china line friendships tbh) is one of the biggest reasons i got into seventeen in the first place
also also since I am talking about seventeen, they released a video today of them filming a cute reel to one of their songs and hoshi jumping around and being all cute and getting excited at a tiger painting has healed my little heart
Hii, yes Jisung finally completed the NCT Instagram round up. And his first post being a baby picture. So on brand for the baby of the group. I love how he just has to be different and only follow NASA. I'm sure the other members will wear him down though. The moment Taemin takes him under his wing for maknae training he'll be a problem. Cause Taemin is a menace who commits actual crimes and causes Key to prematurely grey. We love to see a supportive bestie. I would love to see seventeen and NCT interact more. Mainly cause Vernon and Joshua and Mark and Johnny would delight and entertain me. Hopefully exo isn't there, wouldn't want Sehun to confuse Johnny and Jeonghan again.

Summary: Things seemed to be going rather smoothly now, despite this, you had an underlying feeling of uneasiness, it was going too smoothly. You also felt rather curious, what was your handsome companion’s past? Why was he so reluctant to open up?
Regardless, you were on target. You’d work together with Prince Beomgyu and be set to wage against your tyrant brother! Though it seems some underlying issues seemed to have slipped your mind.
Well, no one ever said things would be easy, just not…impossible. You come to the haunting realisation you were stuck in a web of deceit.
Tumblr media
The quiet chatter and flapping of paper resound out in the Sorcerer’s Tower as the young apprentices read through their notes and books each with wand in hand reciting spell after spell.
Yeonjun stands proud, his gaze flickering between each apprentice and their techniques; his arms crossed and brows furrowed in concentration. This time he doesn’t adorn his cloak and stands in front of a large, crinkled spell book (which seemed to have seen better days.)
This was Yeonjun’s father’s prized possession and now it was his own prized possession. This beloved book contained drafts of new possible spells and was a collection of older spells. He would not let a single soul touch this book or peer inside. Albeit, this spellbook’s author - most thought it was Yeonjun’s father; that was far from the truth.
Sehun stands beside Yeonjun observing the apprentices; he shifts his weight from left to right foot carrying an air of apprehension. Sehun had become rather paranoid, sporting a set of dark circles under his eyes and losing some weight. “You look rough, your highness,” Yeonjun muses. Sehun dryly hums, “I’m aware, Yeonjun.”
The people of Fortuna upon learning about the consecutive deaths of their beloved rulers were appalled. Conspiracy started to spread like wildfire in the kingdom, how could both rulers die months apart from each other? Some theorised the queen died from grief. Others hyperbolised that it was a grand assassination attempt from another nation. Whatever it was, the people were unsettled and rather unhappy with the lack of a ruler. It made him nervous; what if they didn’t accept him?
Furthermore, members of the Royal Court have made several comments in which the people are perceiving the deaths as a bad omen. Much effort was spared to cover up Sehun’s crime with the support of his barons, yet, there was a fair hint of warning, that if the people found out he poisoned his parents, threatened to kill his so-called sibling, it may result in a rebellion. They’d call him a tyrant! He shudders, no, he couldn’t have that. He had to become king! That’s what he was born to be!
Yeonjun’s sharp eyes observe Sehun's silent yet tormented demeanor. Of course he knew the Crown Prince was having internal conflict, second-guessing himself, particularly after the bounty he sent out. A smile laces the blonde haired man's lips, “Your highness?”
“Hm? Apologies, it appears I drifted off into my own mind. I’m not imposing here, am I? I need your counsel, is all,” Sehun utters, frowning. Yeonjun beams, “Nonsense, your highness. I am first and foremost your friend. Never feel it as a burden to confide in me. I sense you have some doubts and concerns, no?” Sehun hums, “Observant as always, my friend.”
Yeonjun comments, “I feel your anxieties are unnecessary, your highness. You will be well received by the people, after all, you’ve taken all the necessary measures. Additionally, you are the blood-born son of the King and Queen - the people have no choice but to accept you as their king.”
Sehun stiffens. No choice but to accept him. Yes, yes, if the people weren’t agreeable whilst he took the diplomatic route, then he’d have to rule with a firm fist. He couldn’t lose his position, even if half the population despised him.
“Worry not, your highness. I’m sure everything will go accordingly. You will be a fine king,” Yeonjun reassures. Yeonjun tilts his head with a crooked smile, “Surely, you trust the words of your favoured advisor and mage, no?”
Sehun smiles, “Ah, how could I not? Everything you’ve helped me with so far, has worked out. If you say I will, then with you beside me, my friend, I shall indeed rule with an iron fist.” Yeonjun hums, “That’s the confidence I like to hear, your highness. No need to fret.”
Yeonjun speaks, “I’ve caught wind that your sister is currently in the Kingdom of Luna, your highness.” Sehun stiffens, “What? Before my own knights? How did you come across such information?”
Yeonjun flashes him a grin, “I have a few special informants of my own, your highness. I can’t sit back and let a threat to you run around, and disturb the peace. I thought it’d help you, no?” Sehun goes quiet for a moment, “Oh, your own informants? I see, fascinating. Good, I am glad to see you are as capable as always.”
Sehun murmurs, “Luna is our ally kingdom. A strong one at that; our treaty signing ceremony was historic after years of war over the Northern Territory.” Yeonjun nods, “Indeed, it’s an exemplary example of diplomacy. Fortuna flourished after signing the treaty.” Sehun remains deep in thought; what were you doing there? He had put out a bounty for you, so he should have gotten word of it immediately, no?
Sehun scowls, “I assume she fled there to seek help. How pointless, she does not know about the numerous clauses in our peace treaty. That foolish prince would never side with her, if he knew what was good for him and his kingdom. Luna had already surrendered to us once, he knows his place.”
Yeonjun speaks amused, “I suppose so. Yet it’s a valiant effort. She is rather beautiful, no? I believe she can be rather persuasive, she may persuade him to side with her. I’ve heard the Prince is fond of her.” Sehun’s gaze darkens, “Preposterous. There’s not a chance.” “The Prince has not informed you of her presence, though?” Yeonjun questions.
Sehun scoffs, “Who knows if he’s even aware that she’s in the kingdom. He’s always been focused on expanding territory in the North. Their pitiful kingdom has so many restrictions in terms of magic too, so far behind. At the end of the day, as much of a pretty boy prince as everyone says he is, all I see is a greedy bastard behind those eyes, playing a charming facade. Father always was wary of his political exploits in the North.”
Yeonjun chuckles, “An astute observation, it appears there’s still some resentment.”
Sehun mutters, “But of course! If it weren’t for the stupid peace treaty our nation could have taken over theirs. But no, both troop’s were forced to retreat after sustaining too many losses. Ungrateful wretches.”
Yeonjun hums in thought, “Didn’t they ask for the Princess’s hand in marriage at one point?” Sehun grimaces in disgust, “Do not remind me. They wished to strengthen our allyship through betrothal. My father saw straight through their attempt. What a poor attempt at taking over Fortuna. Then again, if it had occurred then y/n would not be such a pain. I’d have gotten the throne automatically.”
Yeonjun muses, “I heard the court was up in arms at the thought of betrothal with Luna.” Sehun nods, “Believe me, it was a unanimous vote. Marriage gives way to power. Something that Fortuna cannot afford to lose. Y/n seemed to not like the idea anyway.”
Yeonjun’s lips curl up, “Well. With you as king, the people have nothing to worry about.” Sehun hums pleasantly, “Yes. Yes, exactly,” he continues muttering to himself, “Shame, they took the rejection rather well.” Yeonjun snorts.
They both stand in silence, each sunk into their own thoughts before the sound of footsteps rush into the room. A young knight bows before peering at Yeonjun, “Royal Sorcerer, I have received more word from across the border.” Yeonjun gestures for him to continue. “It has been confirmed that the Princess is within Prince Choi’s palace.”
“Backstabbing, filthy brat,” Sehun snaps, “And he did not think to inform me? Of course he has his own agenda!” Yeonjun muses, “Your highness, calm down.” The knight trembles, “W-Well, it was also confirmed that she was not alone. Her companion was described to be tall, pale blonde hair, young man, perhaps in his twenties. Black cloak.” Yeonjun’s brows furrow.
Sehun’s eyes flicker back and forth; his breaths becoming shaky, his thoughts running wild, “How insolent, I knew it, they were conspiring against me. They plan to rebel against me, that foolish wench! She must have seduced him, something, anything!”
The knight and Yeonjun peer as Sehun’s composed exterior cracks. The pressure and paranoia were building up. Yeonjun’s eyes glimmer and he hums, “Now, now, your highness, please don’t say such things. You know what, leave this to me. I am your personal advisor, no? These are matters below you.”
Sehun peers at Yeonjun’s calm demeanor and the wide eyed stares of the apprentices around him. He must have looked frantic. Sehun clears his throat, “Right yes, a trivial matter indeed. Look into it promptly and report back to me. Quickly. Make haste.”
Yeonjun lowers his head, “Leave everything in my hands, no need to concern yourself.” Sehun nods before quickly retreating out of the room with an emerging migraine.
Yeonjun’s peers back at the knight amused, “Well then, do you not know the identity of this mysterious companion?” The knight splutters, “Ah, well he attacked the knights in Luna. We suspect he’s a sorcerer. The informant passed on his name-“
“Tell me,” Yeonjun cuts in his expression, growing menacing. “Taehyun? Kang?” The young boy rattles in his armour noting how the sorcerer’s eyes darken into a malevolent gaze and a crooked smirk.
“Ah, my friend, my dearest friend,” Yeonjun boisterously breaks out. Yeonjun slams his hands on the table startling everyone and he grits out brightly, “Oh how joyous indeed.” Ah yes, the son of the most talented sorcerer known to the nations of the south, of Fortuna. The pioneer of sorcery. Yeonjun’s gaze peers down to the large worn out book in front of him.
His hands clench to form fists and he smiles at the knight, “Good job. Keep the information coming. Anything to help our crown prince, yes?” The knight nods, quivering. “You’re dismissed,” Yeonjun mutters.
The startled apprentices resume their practice as the royal sorcerer stands with his hands on the table peering down at the book intently; his mind churning with an onslaught of thoughts. The exiled sorcerer and his exiled gifted son.
How did he come into contact with the princess? Yeonjun surmises, the princess must have taken the short route through the Woods of Mors; there was no other way they could have crossed paths.
A bitter laugh escapes his lips, “I thought you’d learned your lesson. But it appears you wish to play the game of revenge.” Here he thought he had died of starvation and loneliness.
That’s it, you were being used as a pawn by Taehyun. So he could leverage himself back into the palace despite his exile. How clever; Yeonjun deems irritated. Yeonjun sighs dramatically for everyone ears to hear, “To think, attempting to kill the King and Queen wasn’t enough, yet you’re coming back for more, how greedy, Kang.”
The apprentices look at him mortified. Yeonjun releases a chuckle, brightly grinning, “Ah sorry, I’m talking out loud aren't I? Don’t mind me.” To think after all that had happened, Taehyun had the guts to approach you and help you in your futile pursuit. How funny. Yeonjun laughs to himself. You were naive to trust him or that damned prince.
It appears that he’d have to see Taehyun again. Not a problem, Yeonjun always loved a good old reunion between best friends. He muses to himself, “Seems we'll meet again soon, old friend.” Yeonjun’s lips curl into a smirk as his eyes flicker back to the spellbook slamming it closed.
—————
Your heart sinks having had a revelation that Taehyun is far more important than he let on. Son of the pioneer of sorcery, the son of the previous royal sorcerer. Things couldn’t add up in your head. Why would the royal court banish his father and him so quickly? Why would your parents agree to such a thing?
What could his father have possibly done to warrant such an extreme response? A pang of worry hits you. Beomgyu gazes at your lost expression, his lips twisting into a smile. “Y/n, come now, don’t be worried. I’m sure Soobin will ease him. You have more important things to take care of, no?”
Right, your plight was still hanging in the air. You regard Beomgyu; his eyes twinkle, he seemed unfazed by the events. He outstretches his hand with a mischievous smirk, “Come, let’s go on a walk together, we have much catching up to do.”
You peer at his hand slightly flustered, “I’m still in my nightgown, I-“ Beomgyu chuckles, “I’m aware, luckily for you, it’s rather cute on you. But for your comfort I’ve already arranged some attire to be given later to change into. Don’t fret, come with me.” You bite your lips anxiously peering back in the direction that Taehyun stormed off. Would he be okay? Should you check on him?
“He’ll be fine,” Beomgyu cuts in startling you and you look back at him and he flashes you a smile. You hesitantly take his hand; it feels soft and your eyes widen as he grasps your hand firmly pulling you forward playfully, “Walk with me.”
Your heart palpitates a bit as you walk beside him; his hand not leaving yours. “It’s been quite the while since I’ve seen you in person.” You nod, “Indeed. We’ve seen each other briefly at balls and such.” He agrees, “What a shame, I was training my swordsmanship and studying, otherwise I could have seen you more often.” You chuckle, “You flatter me.”
Beomgyu muses, “No, but truly you seem to have become even more beautiful. All you need is a crown and…perfect. Radiant even.” You shake your head feeling warmth in your cheeks, “Come now, don’t jest.” You both walk in a comfortable silence. “I often wish I could visit Fortuna more. Our peace treaty has allowed Fortuna to truly prosper especially in regard to sorcery.” You reply, “Well yes, it makes me proud.”
You feel his thumb caress the back of your hand making your lips part in surprise as you walk. “You should be, if only Luna could be as half as developed in that sphere.” You had read that Luna sacrificed much during the wars and eventually unhappily conceded to allow the peace treaty to occur. You hum, “Luna is beautiful truly, small but thriving.”
Beomgyu muses smirking, “Oh it won’t be small for long, I do plan to expand out.” “In the North?” You question. He shakes his head, “I have recently achieved that territory, I was thinking somewhere bigger.” Bigger?
“Oh? That sounds ambitious. It won’t lead to any conflict will it?” You ask. He nonchalantly responds, “No, it should not, it all depends on the ruler’s choice.” Ruler? Surely he wasn’t targeting another nation? “Ruler? Isn’t that rather risky? What about Luna’s peace?” You inquire wide-eyed.
Beomgyu looks down at you as you walk with a chuckle, “You’re sweet thing aren’t you? Don’t worry I plan to go forward diplomatically.” You sigh in relief, “Good, I never expected less.”
“Oh, you must have high expectations of me?” Beomgyu grins. You bashfully smile, “Luna has always been so accommodating for my parents. Luna’s cooperation is what has allowed Fortuna to flourish.” His eyes flicker to your lips, “Well said.”
You resume walking, absorbing your stunning surroundings of the hallways of the palace. Your eyes look back at Beomgyu who seems to be observing you intently. “I’ve been meaning to ask, what do you think of the sorcerer? Taehyun?”
“Hm?” You ask surprised. Beomgyu hums, “Well, it seems you bicker quite a bit, not seriously I presume? I just find you two…to be an odd pair.” You don’t know why but at the mention of Taehyun’s name your heart flutters, bounces in your chest. What was wrong with you?
Beomgyu’s gaze locks onto you; the way your pupils dilate and your lips part in hesitation. He tilts his head, his grin fading a little. You mumble, “As…annoying as he is. He has a good heart.” “A good heart?” Beomgyu quirks.
You nod, “I…I don’t know how to explain it but, he saved me. He’s remained by my side thus far. As cold and rude as he might come off, I sense a kind heart within him.” Your mind flashes back to the conversation you had earlier with him; how he reassured you that he was going to stay.
“That’s admirable…” Beomgyu comments, “To see good in someone, is always a good trait to have, y/n.” You shake your head with a soft smile, “No, I don’t see good in him. He is a good person, Beomgyu. Misunderstood…” your brows furrow, “…maybe even wronged.” You frown.
Beomgyu muses, “Is that so? You think that?” You murmur, “Yes, I do.” He looks forward; his expression becoming neutral, “How endearing. Dare I say, you sound fond.” Do you?
“As sweet as you are, please be careful. At the end of the day, you haven’t known him for long, he is not a noble, he’s not as predictable,” Beomgyu advises. You sigh; did Beomgyu not like Taehyun despite his courtesy earlier? “Right,” you utter.
“You have a pure heart, princess. Many would take advantage of that. I’d hate to see you suffer because of your own kindness,” Beomgyu smiles at you. “I suppose you’re right, Sehun managed to,” you bitterly laugh. Beomgyu frowns, “Indeed. What a pity, to think he even sent a bounty for you, how sadistic.” You nod solemnly.
“Do not fret, y/n. I am by your side, after all.” You release a chuckle, “But of course.” He hums, “You would be a far better choice as a ruler than that self-centered scumbag.” You snort, “Well, yes.” You both return to a comfortable silence as you walk out into the palace gardens.
The gardens are filled to the brim with various flowers and shrubs making for an exquisitely grandiose display of nature. A gentle breeze wafts in the air.
“Ah, I’ve been meaning to ask, are you betrothed by chance? Here I am holding your hand and not even asking. How discourteous of me,” he chuckles. Your eyes widen, “Ah, no. Not since we- I mean…I have not thought of it. I wanted a few more years of solace to myself before such a commitment, you know?”
Memories flash in your mind; the grand bouquet and umpteen gift boxes delivered to your room with Hueningkai atrociously glaring at them. A laugh escapes your lips.
“Ah, ah, ‘since we’- ah, so you do remember and here I thought we were avoiding the elephant in the room,” Beomgyu teases. You murmur, “Well, how could I forget? It was my first and last betrothal proposal .” Beomgyu sighs with a smirk, “My parents truly did pick every single flower out of this very garden for your bouquet you know?” You murmur awkwardly, “Ah yes, the humongous bouquet.”
“Did you like the other trinkets that were sent? Surely you did not toss them aside?” He asks concerned. You shake your head, “No, no! I still have them, they were too precious to throw out. Like the music box and the hand mirror. Stunning pieces.” Beomgyu nods slowly peering down at your hand in his clasp, “Good. That makes me happy to hear.”
A heavy sigh escapes his lush lips and you start to feel your hand become weighty. You were honoured when you received the offer from Beomgyu’s parents to be betrothed to their son. A high honour indeed. You knew they did not do that because they liked you, no, no, it was only to strengthen the allyship between Luna and Fortuna - and what better way to solidify things than through marriage?
Unfortunately for them, your eighteen year old self was not prepared for such an advance. You were adamant in rejecting it immediately no matter what; as nice as Beomgyu was. You just weren’t keen on the idea of betrothal…especially when you were having mixed feelings with your beloved knight: Hueningkai at the time.
“May I ask…why you rejected it?” Beomgyu’s voice flattens and you awkwardly reply, “Ah well, I just thought the pressure of betrothal at that age was a little much. I didn’t know how you felt on the matter either, I didn’t want to agree on anything so concrete.” Beomgyu hums nodding slowly, “Huh…is that so. You considered my feelings.”
“Yes, what if you weren’t happy with it either? By saying yes I’d-“
“What if I was?” Beomgyu interrupts. You stiffen, “What?” Beomgyu peers at you deeply, “What if I was okay with it? Okay with being betrothed to you?” Your heart rate hastens. Well, this is awkward.
“Then…I’m afraid the answer would have been the same,” you shakily breathe out. He squeezes your hand before releasing it. A tense silence ensues and you titter, “W-What about you? You should be fighting off suitors, no? You must have betrothals coming at you frequently.”
Beomgyu muses, “Ah, you think I’m popular? Well after my mother had become bedridden, I had to become in charge.” Of course, Beomgyu had been ruling Luna since he was nineteen, how young. He must have felt so much burden and pressure. You frown, “Oh right, yes.”
He chuckles, “I haven’t had time for such things. The last betrothal I had was…you. I rejected others simply because I didn’t have time or didn’t care enough.” You process his words slowly.
You remember your father standing beside you as you looked at the pile of gifts and his eyes scan the letter offering a betrothal. You begged your father not to go through with it. Luckily for you, the royal court seemed opposed to it, and he had a soft spot for you. So he declined it; you remember hearing that marrying you off to Luna would endanger Fortuna’s diplomatic power and independence.
You peer back at Beomgyu’s blank expression; a pang of guilt hits you. All Beomgyu knew was royalty, he’d have accepted anyone in your position, anyone his parents asked. You weren’t special. You both continue to walk together beside each other.
How did the conversation swerve to this? How awkward. You sigh; perhaps you shouldn’t have agreed to take a walk. You just wanted to be on Beomgyu’s good side so he’d help you out. Your mind wanders back to Taehyun. What would they be talking about? Was Taehyun okay? Frankly, you wanted your own set of answers.
You both turn a corner following the path and you notice Beomgyu’s gaze on the ground. Was he deeply in thought or upset? You continue walking forward enjoying the scenery the best you can.
You realise you don’t hear the crunch of fellow footsteps beside you. You peer over your shoulder seeing Beomgyu come to a halt. He gazes at you with glimmering eyes, “Princess,”
“Beomgyu? Are you alright?” You inquire worried. You really hope you haven’t offended him. “We’ve forgotten the matter at heart, no? Your current situation.” Finally, you think. This was what you needed; you turn to face him.
“I’ve been thinking about it for the last few days on how best to approach this, how to help you attain your power back.” Your jaw tightens, ah, your title was stripped, how could you forget?
“Initially, the first thing to mind, is using Luna’s military and enforcing ourselves into Fortuna, barging grandly into the Royal Court to upheave their decision by force.” You flinch, well, that was certainly one method.
“Perhaps even kill your brother off, play it off as collateral? Revenge even?” Beomgyu nonchalantly comments startling you. You begin to realise how ruthless Beomgyu could be behind that charming and mischievous mask of his.
Beomgyu takes a step forward, “But how would that benefit me? In both those scenarios, I’ve violated the peace treaty holding our nations together; tantamount to treason, I could even start a war. We wouldn’t want that would we?” You shake your head; your heart begins to sink. An aura of anxiety filling your senses.
“Escorting you in front of the royal court, to have a fair trial and debate, to upheave the decree, would be pointless. I have no power in your court, and well, neither do you. They’d reject your plea to overturn the decree in a heartbeat,” he hums, taking another step forward. Your heart palpitates; something about his tone irked you. He sounded amused; condescending even.
You take a step back instinctively; you murmur, “So what are you suggesting we do then? I came all the way here for help.”
“But of course, y/n. All I ask is that you rely on me.” “Aren’t I already?” You quip back.
“No, I mean really rely on me, y/n.” You stiffen; as he steps forward once more. “You need to solidify your position as ruler. You need power. You need the power to have resources at your disposal.” You murmur bluntly, “Beomgyu, I need you to be direct with me.”
He chuckles, “You can get all this, provide me with enough diplomatic power in Fortuna’s court to aid you, and have my resources at your disposal if,” your mind churns, the only way he’d get diplomatic power in Fortuna’s court is if- no. Absolutely not. You freeze; only if you-
“Marry me.”
The words slam into you as though he threw a boulder at you. Marriage was a word thrown so carelessly around by nobles, for the sake of furthering themselves. A concept you despised so much; you wanted to love and be loved.
Yet, it had come full circle. He had come full circle.
You sharply snap, “Surely you are not bitter I rejected you all those years ago? You did not love me, to take it so hardly. I don’t understand?”
Beomgyu chuckles, “Oh y/n, I assure you, it’s a beneficial solution, for the both of us. It grants me diplomatic power to enter Luna. It allows you to become my ruling consort, providing you with a title.” Damn him!
“Furthermore, our allyship would strengthen, don't you think it would be lovely for Luna and Fortuna to be united?” Beomgyu questions inching closer. You’re speechless; he’s really thought about this. How cunning.
He muses, “You wouldn’t have to worry about the bounty either.” You shake angrily; you feel as though you’ve been backed into a corner. Why were you so naive? To think he was being so caring and nice out of genuine nature? Every damn noble was out for themselves!
All your kingdom’s actions have a price to pay. You step back trembling, “And if I don’t?”
“Don’t what?” He questions, his lips curling into a coy smile. “Want to marry you?” You snap, glaring.
A laugh escapes his lips as he walks forward talking, “I don’t have much I can do, as crown prince, I can’t encroach in Fortuna’s territory and start an uprising without valid reason. The treaty explicitly states to maintain peace at all times, but with you here, it endangers that. I’m sure you didn’t read the treaty, ever did you?”
Beomgyu continues with a condescending smile, “I can’t waltz in and claim that Sehun has no right to be king, because at the end of the day y/n, he is the blood-born heir, you are not. I’m not meaning to say you can’t rule, you very much can, but I have no power to stop him from becoming king, unless a member of the Fortuna royal family marries into mine.”
You scramble, “But- I came all this way for you. Just to be told all this!” Beomgyu chuckles, “Surely, you didn’t think it was that easy? Ruling is not just wearing a crown. It’s politics. It’s mindgames to hold your own against the enemies around you. Even your closest allies can be your enemies, princess.”
Beomgyu stands right in front of you, towering over your frame. “Hm, I shouldn’t even be calling you princess anymore should I?” Your composure cracks. Everyone was the same; everyone had their own sick agenda. Even… Beomgyu.
Your back hits the wall; he takes your shaking hand in his, “You know what they say, keep your friends close but your enemies closer.” You stammer,“But if I marry you, I…our kingdoms will have to officially join. My father always stated foreign interference was never…” you begin as he interrupts, “If you’re worried I’d take over your throne, you’d still become queen? It is your nation, no?”
“I…I suppose.” You weren’t stupid to see that would not be the case; he’d take over Fortuna.
You were manipulated the moment you set foot here. To think you had such confidence in the mere political label of ‘ally’ just shows how inexperienced and foolish you are. The treaty was just for show; Luna had a lot of resentment against Fortuna. You should have known.
At the end of the day, everyone was out for each other and fighting for their own selfish gains.
“Both kingdom’s would benefit.” You whimper, as he leans down, “Why? Wouldn’t you prefer Fortuna to be in our hands than Sehun’s? Surely you trust me, no?”
His fingers lift your chin up to meet his gaze with a dark smile on his lips, “Come now, don’t look too upset. I’m helping you, don’t you see?” Shaky breaths tumble out of you, “You don’t love me.”
Beomgyu laughs with a mocking glint in his eyes, “What? I have to be in love with you to marry you? How naive.” His eyes flicker down to your trembling lips, “But if you want me to,” he twistedly hums, “I suppose we can play a facade of our own. Public support will be important, after all.”
You feel like you have nowhere to run. You’ve escaped a lion's den only to get caught in a bear trap.
“I thought…you’d respect our allyship,” you brokenly whisper. “I do, y/n. In my own way.” His gaze darkens, “You don’t know what it was like for my people, to wave the white flag and concede during the war.” You remain silent; “It was all for peace-“ He snaps lowly, “Peace that benefited your people.”
Beomgyu’s slender finger caress your jaw and his thumb runs across your cheek, “I don’t mean to be rude, you are rather endearing. I’m just providing you with options is all. I won’t force you.”
“Options?” You snark. “Yes, options, work with me or..” He alludes. “Or?” You mutter darkly.
Beomgyu leans closer with a malevolent smile, “I hand you over myself. After all, I’d rather not get on the new king-to-be’s bad side, hm? Quite the bounty too, I’ve heard.”
“Bastard,” you utter icily. Those weren’t options at all!
“Ah, ah, language,” Beomgyu hums, amused.
You were caught in a stringed web of deceitful complexities. How much worse could your situation get?

part 1 reaction to exo's ladder 4 episode 11
Chanyeol putting in action his koong koong da mission (which is the word association game)
Minseok's word starting with 'gan' was adultery X'D
Just like that, Chanyeol accomplished his mission
Junmyeon plans to skip rope tomorrow morning. That's a pretty good idea. Like wake up early when everybody's dead asleep.
Polite soo :3
Tumblr media
Jongdae said that Sehun wouldn't bluff (i.e. he wouldn't lie about whether or not he did his mission yet)
Sehun and Jongdae theorizing about Minseok's mission. Apparently there's more to it than just hiding it. Is it to put it on someone? Hm.
Holding the handses
Tumblr media
Jongdae is so in glee at the idea of Kyungsoo's mission being to stop Minseok specifically
Minseok: Let's not bring Kyungsoo on our next trip
WOW Jongdae felt that in a team of Jongdae, Minseok, Junmyeon, and Kyungsoo, Kyungsoo was the only trustworthy person hahahaha. Jongdae does play favourites, and Minseok and Junmyeon are his favourites in other ways. But Kyungsoo is predictable and also younger than him so maybe there's a level of trust there.
Sehun: I'll sleep in the sofa because it'll be hard to film if I sleep in the tent Jongdae and Minseok: Do what you want Kyungsoo will be sooo mad that Sehun's not suffering outside lol.
Kyungsoo allowed Sehun to sleep in his room later!!!!!!! I guess Kyungsoo was only harsh for the sake of the camera lol. Sesoo beef is real but Kyungsoo is not actually mean lmao.
MORE drinking and talking
Tumblr media
So Minseok's mission is to wear the props but he needs to do something else while wearing them
Morning!!! iIssion reveal!!!!!
Squished on to the sofas
Tumblr media
Chanyeol and Minseok guessed Junyeon's mission already eh.
OMG Kyungsoo had the writing on members' bodies mission. And he had to do it with the pen so it was probably very noticeable lol.
Sehun and Kyungsoo indeed sleeping in the same bed
Tumblr media
OMG and he has to AUTOGRAPH the members this is so wack lmfao.
This is some demonic shit for both parties. If I was Chanyeol and woke up to someone writing on me I'd scream. If I was Kyungsoo and woke up to someone freaking out about me writing ont hem I would scream. And all of this is happening in the dark.
Tumblr media
Bunny hops
Tumblr media
LMAO Kyungsoo caught Junmyeon because Junmyeon was supposed to help him with his mission but Junmyeon panicked because he got caught and ran away lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As promised lol
Tumblr media
Kyungsoo launching his attack on Jongdae, but I can't believe Jongdae didn't feel it?!??!!?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Junmyeon and Baekhyun were getting ready in Kyungsoo's room :3 Junmyeon had his own room but I guess the stylists all just congregated to one house.
Baekhyun discovered the autograph!!
Tumblr media
Baekhyun exposing Kyungsoo's crimes in front of everyone X'D
Tumblr media
Jongdae discovering the autograph on his foot X'D
And then everyone immediately erasing them then and there X'D The world is cruel. He was so close haha.
Baekhyun's mission was pretty funny imo because everybody kept undoing his work and he was so fucking done lmfao
Jongdae's last love shot target was Junmyeon X3
Oh yeah, here we go. The way he climbed on to the bed and then gently maneuvered Junmyeon into position
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jongdae planted a red herring and got one more love shot with Minseok who'd been suspicious of him earlier >3
Chanyeol: I had an inkling that that was Jongdae's mission but I couldn't think far enough to do anything about it XD Just distracted by the alcohol
Tumblr media
EXO's suggestion: Make all the missions with all members
Kyungsoo is going to fucking MURDER SEHUN X'D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Chanyeol already on it XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Chanyeol revealed his koong koong da mission lol
Tumblr media
Lol Kyungsoo even bought all the candy in the store so that Chanyeol couldn't buy any. Overreaction man.
Tumblr media
Kyungsoo just nodding wryly
Tumblr media
Junmyeon sounded sooo tired when he was talking about skipping rope lol.

Suho loves attention and he's soooo clingy, I love him <3 And it's also why I like multi-shipping him with the Exos heh.
Thank you for acknowledging Junmyeon as a sub >3 I think it's popular to think of him as a dom because he's responsible. And also because of how much he babies Sehun lol. But all I could ever see is how desperate he is for love and affection!!!!!
Of the beagle line, I do think Jongdae is a little less teasing when it comes to Junmyeon :P he's more easy to praise junmyeon than most of the other exos imo. I think he's at the scene of the (stripping Suho) crime often because he wants to show him off!!
- Suwitru
I very much headcanon Suho as a daddy dom EXCLUSIVELY with female partners. With men? He is a BOTTOM, usually a sub (he makes some exceptions about that, usually when it comes to dominating Chanyeol when the mood strikes), affectionate, big fan of affection and praise.
Despite the fact that Jongdae always seems to be tearing his clothes off, I've never actually shipped him with Suho before (probably because I headcanon Jongdae as a bottom, too.) But tonight, I'm feeling open-minded 😂 Maybe there IS something to a Jongdae/Suho pairing?? Something I've overlooked for the last ~8 years? 👀
