What's up Doc, I'm a Blade Dancer!

Ever wondered what would happen if you put Looney Tunes in an anime?

Well, I never did and the newest episodes of One Piece are out so those will suffice for Looney Tunes. But a friend of mine did, he decided to commission me to write the story that came from his mind. Writing this also gave me a startling realization. I should not take up commissions until I have time or they're extremely short. But that's irrelevant.

KOKIA in flashback - 2017

In the year of 2017, KOKIA begins a new project: Ton ton ton, a project that initially starts with 1 CD (Doubutsu no ongakukai, 'animal concert'), but with a twist: the CD comes in a tin with 6 different designs, all done by KOKIA herself. All songs are about animals, and for every song, KOKIA makes a separate leaflet with the lyrics and the animal design. The project is aimed explicitly at kids as well as adults, with merchandise and more CDs planned for later.

KOKIA returns to China not once, but twice this year, in January and in December, opening en ending the year with her visits. The year also ends with a Christmas concert as per usual, but this time, it's an orchestra concert.

She also starts counting down to her 20th anniversary next year, launching a special website like she did for her 15th anniversary. This is also when she starts her own Facebook page. The countdown has begun!

It gets my Interest,it looks like “My next Life As A Villainess:All Roades Lead To Doom”,but it’s not a copy.It’s really original plot:

“ Leonis, the Undead King, is being attacked by the six heroes after allying with the Goddess of Rebellion. Seeing his imminent defeat, he seals himself away for a thousand years. However, when he awakens he is no longer the undead king but instead a ten-year-old boy! To make things more complicated, the young girl who rescues him – Riselia Ray Crystalia – thinks he is a refugee from the Voids, evil monsters that have wiped out three quarters of humanity and take on the aspects of mythological creatures. When they are attacked, Leonis discovers his powers are reduced, and Riselia takes a mortal blow meant for him. After dispatching the creatures he uses his necromancy to bring her back to life. With their fates entwined, she takes him back to one of humanity's last bastions where she is enrolled as a Holy Sword to defend humanity against the Voids. Leonis must learn about the circumstances of this new world without revealing his own true nature in the process”.

Art Notes: So, yeah, I hate this cover. I hate the way that Restia looks loli-ish and I hate the way she’s posed and I hate her expression. It just doesn’t feel like Restia at all and I hate it. Also, there is a tentacle illustration and, uh, unless you’re into that, it’s quite disgusting how it’s drawn, even if it’s actually pretty tame in comparison to some other stuff that I’ve seen. There were a few illustrations in this volume that made me weirded out by how Shimesaba draws boobs.

Man, I have really stopped caring about this plot. Like, everyone could die at this stage and I likely wouldn’t care. Okay, maybe I would care if Restia or Est died but that’s it. I’ve just completely lost interest in the series and I can’t quite figure out why. I know that I stopped caring at around volume 15 but, yeah, I’m just not sure what changed yet. I think it’s in part because the volumes started to get longer after volume 14. I used to be able to really rip through the volumes and I enjoyed the short nature of them and they’re still not particularly long but they definitely take longer for me to read and that effects my enjoyment of them.

There was one part in this volume that I enjoyed and that is an exchange between Restia and Claire. I just find their relationship is interesting enough that it often leads to some really intersting exchanges that do a good job of showcasing Claire’s character development. Due to that one part, I’m willing to rate this volume a 3 but no higher.

There are only 2 volumes left in the series so I do want to get them done at some stage but they’re not available through BookWalker’s subscription yet and I don’t really want to spend money on them so I do plan to read them but they’re not a priority.
