Purple Day is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about epilepsy. It was founded in 2008 by Cassidy Megan, a young Canadian girl who has epilepsy herself, with the aim of encouraging people to learn more about the condition and to support those living with it.

On Purple Day, which falls on March 26th each year, people worldwide wear purple clothing and accessories as a sign of solidarity with those affected by epilepsy. Buildings and landmarks may also be lit up in purple to raise awareness.

The color purple was chosen because it represents both the sadness often associated with epilepsy, as well as the hope for a brighter future through increased awareness, understanding, and support for individuals with epilepsy.

During Purple Day, various events and activities take place globally, including educational seminars, fundraising events, social media campaigns, and community outreach efforts.

November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. The goal of these 30 days this month is to spotlight epilepsy and raise awareness.

I couldn't find if any can be temporary but I'm taking the max seizure medication. It's been a while since I've had grand mal, years, but I space out and stuff when I'm at home. It's been a long 24 hours. Had my first #seizure (I think a couple actually) in quite awhile, I think October is the last one that I recall, coming back from Eureka Springs I had fallen asleep on the drive and scared the hell out of the person driving. And another I had (while awake) hanging with friends, also scaring the hell out of poor Bert. You'd think after a lifetime of this I'd get used to it. But you don't get used to it. Out of everything I battle health wise my seizures are by far the worst to cope with. Feeling as though I can't trust my own brain to function and cope with things when I myself am trying, not knowing when and if it'll happen. Leaving me with a fear of sleep and insomnia usually for days afterwards. Most intense I can remember in years leaving me unconscious until 8 pm or so last night.. the few hours I was awake last night was a heavy fog, slurred speech and some stuttering my entire body burned and I had a long lasting internal electrical vibe with horrible copper taste in my mouth and blurred vision until this morning feeling like my right eye had been dilated. I had so hoped to be up last night with the 🌕 but it was much more important I rest, recover and recharge. PUPDATE! We made our way down to Bend, OR yesterday to re-certify PPP Service DogTeam Patrick & Seamus and we are happy to report that they passed with flying colors! Seamus is an 8 year old seizure response dog and just last week provided Patrick with pressure and comfort during a seizure and provided stability as he recovered. The video shows how Patrick uses hand signals that Seamus follows rather than vocal commands, as most people aren’t able to give those during an episode. Seamus enjoys riding in the trailer behind Patrick’s bike and playing ball. Patrick has been out of work dueto COVID-19 but PPP has been able to provide food, treats and vet care for Seamus.
