Series 20 Mug Watch

It takes 10 episodes of the series to Episode 191 when he's spotted with a cup - and it's a new one! I think this one is my favourite (The plain white with the shield) but I'm no West Ham or football fan so what do I know? It's out again next ep for 192 and then 198.

Episode 199 is a little bit of a cheat to be included purely because it is officially 'the same scene' as the episode starts where 198 left off. But it's included because it's a differently numbered ep and I am very anal about Mug Watching.

It's back again for episode 200, why Mr Smith, three episodes in a row? You're spoiling us!

Episode 222 we're using a canteen cup - boo!

Normal service resumes for 224.

Episode 228 is fancy. We're gesturing with it, we're carrying it nipple height - it is GETTING ONSCREEN DAMNIT.

It's not seen again until Episode 236 when he's talking to Gina.

Episode 249 is a bit of a show off because the mug gets its very own close up as he gives it to Jim to make a CID collection for the DCI after Jack's heart attack. It's back to the blue one with the footballs around the shield there.

Episode 258 he's holding it up again when he and June are talking to an old school burglar who June has arrested.

Boo 261, back to the normal canteen cups.

However, Episode 268 the blue one with the footballs around the shield makes an appearance in the yard. I love how he makes sure that he's caught 'drinking' from it when Sheelagh appears to ensure it gets caught on screen. If it's not a concious choice of how he holds them onscreen I will eat my own face.

Episode 271 is the last time he's seen with a cup in series 20 and we're back to the white one with the shield that has appeared most this series.

I need to get out more.

I saw somebody say that watching the Percy Jackson show made them realize that in the first books Percy doesn't even say half the stuff he thinks and he's just a quiet kid silently judging everyone, like they're so right.

Think about it from Grover's perspective. You know Percy as a quiet boy who certainly has his judgy thoughts but (aside from telling them to you) keeps them to himself. He's just trying to make it through school, for his mom.

Then his mom dies. And he loses the ability to give absolutely any fucks. He starts saying all this shit he never said out loud and to people who could do infinitely worse things to him than anything Nancy Bobifit ever even tried. And it only gets worse as he gets older.

Like bro went from quiet kid in the back of the class to fist fighting a god in the span of like a week. Then he openly told the gods to pay their child support. Grover was having heart attacks every other minute.

Fun Fact Number One: One season before he became the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker played another Gallifreyan named Commander Maxil, who shot the Doctor and Colin Baker has joked that that's how he got the role. Also Colin Baker played Commander Maxil with a high ego (even for a Gallifreyan) that the producer, John Nathan-Turner asked Colin Baker to tone it down because it was called "Doctor Who" not "Commander Maxil" but Colin Baker was intentionally playing Maxil as if he were the main character, saying that no person would ever consider themselves as a minor character in someone else's life, so he played Maxil as if he were the main character.

Fun Fact Number Two: Nicola Bryan (my second favorite classic companion after Leela) played American Companion, Perpugilliam "Peri" Brown but she is actually British and she was required to always speak in an American accent even when they weren't shooting, in fact, Colin Baker didn't even know she was British until years later at a dinner party when she was talking in her real accent.

Just six more days! Here’s Mel Bush and the Sixth Doctor. Drawing his jacket very nearly caused me to go blind. In research for this one I watched “Trial of a Time Lord” which was much better than I anticipated. I’ve not spent much time w this Doctor so that’s my recommendation.
