Hello! I love your posts about men’s fashion and stuff like that, and I wanted to ask your advice on something. I’m nonbinary transmasc and while for the most part being on testosterone has been absolutely great, I have realized that now that I am more consistently read as male I have been finding myself a lot more restricted in the things I can communicate via my clothing choices, if that makes sense? I feel like in women’s fashion there is a lot more flexibility in the ways you can convey personality or things like that through your clothing choices while still meeting professional dress codes and such, whereas it seems like men’s fashion is much more rigid in what is considered acceptable in any given social context. I was wondering if you had any advice or resources on ways to better express one’s self while presenting masculinely? Obviously I know I can technically wear whatever I want, but I’d like to be able to cultivate a personal style in a way that might still be acceptable at work and things like that.
Heya! My main advice is that cultivating a style as a man / masc person is going to be noticeable, and that's OK, so just lean into it. You will stand out, but not necessarily in an unacceptable way. It's just that a good chunk of cis men don't experiment here - they don't vary much once they hit adulthood, and tend to subconsciously copy what their peers wear.
While my own style has wandered a bit, I have been consistent in what I *don't* want to wear/communicate, so maybe that could be a helpful place to begin for you? For me, I avoid a lot of the earmarks of business casual, such as khakis + polo, or when dressing up, the drab, flat navy blue suit. I also avoid athleisure.
If you're looking for inspiration, may I suggest starting with The Sartorialist, who captures street fashion in multiple cities. Start a "look book" of fashion that inspires you and see where that takes you. Even if it isn't all appropriate for work, there may be elements you can incorporate, such as accessories.

His books are also quite inexpensive second-hand:

Chajul, Guatemala. Mercredi 3 mars 1982

This is the bibliography for our entry in the Anime Foodies series of panels, “Anime Foodies: Laid-Back Camp The Movie”.  The sources include not only places from which we garnered background of the food we were cooking, but also sources that helped us determine how to craft our own version of the recipes we were creating.
This is the second Anime Foodies panel which has a formal bibliography of sources.  Those marked with double asterisks are regular sources we’ve used in all of the panels in the series and are a good starting point for anyone interested in Japanese food and its history.

I got my school's library to order Fire Season for me and I recently got the itch to reread it but i graduated!!! :( So now im hunting for it myself (not US). Although tbh this might be for the best because i really wanted to annotate it but alas i refuse to vandalise public property with my ramblings 👍
I hope you can find it! I found mine in a Half Price Books store (which is a used books chain in the US) just randomly. But if you're not in the US then it might be hard to find because idk how popular this random memoir would be in another country.
You might check Abebooks: https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?cm_sp=SearchF--TopNavISS--Results&ds=20&kn=fire%20season%20philip%20connors&sts=t
But it's still not free like in a library. I'm glad you enjoyed the book enought to reread it! I am so happy I stumbled across it in my store. I had not been looking for it, I just normally check out the environmental section of each Half Price Books I go to. I had juuuuust started IDL at the time and recognized Philip Connors' name since I had been looking up poetry/literature about fire lookouts weeks prior (for a title? a blurb? who knows). I also lent the book to my coworker friend a few months ago too, since she is also interested in wildfire as a topic.

Greek Dark Ages
Tumblr media
By Louis Stanislas d'Arcy Delarochette - http://www.davidrumsey.com/luna/servlet/detail/RUMSEY~8~1~24845~960053?trs=120&mi=23&qvq=mgid%3A2728#, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=48557075
Beginning at the end of the Bronze age collapse, Greece entered a dark age which lasted from about 1200-800 BCE. During this time, there was very little writing from the Greeks themselves as they were between native scripts. Linear B, which was used starting around 1400 BCE fell out of use. There were some scripts that was used in small pockets such as Crypto-Minoan, which we haven't deciphered yet, and only appear on a small number of objects. It wasn't until about 800 BCE that the Greek alphabet was developed. The Greek language seems to have also fallen out of use as a national language.
Tumblr media
By Alexikoua - Own work, data taken from:Atlas of World History, Patrick Karl O'Brien, Oxford University Press, 2002, ISBN 019521921X, 9780195219210, page 37., CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=29034190
Between wide spread famines and the attacks of migrating peoples who were trying to find food, the area of Greece faced a long period of depopulation and weaker political and cultural sway. For those that survived, they rejected the palace economies of the Bronze Age, which is what led to the disappearance of Linear B as well as changes in architecture, with fewer grand buildings, smaller settlements, and less stratification, less art, and simpler burial customs.
There were only four Greek settlements that had steady populations of more than 1000 people: Argost, Athens, Knossos, and Lefkandi. These cities did show some stratification of classes, but this didn't spread out to the wider areas around them. Managing to maintain a higher population helped these areas maintain some level of foreign contact in the form of trade and also accumulate wealth. They maintained a connection to Egypt, Cyprus, and the Levant and these became significant starting about 900 BCE, which probably allowed these city-states to become the centers of Classical Antiquity. Even those these locations weren't as affected by famines and migrations, they still rejected the palace systems that existed before, leading to experiments and eventually Athenian democracy.
Tumblr media
By G.dallorto - Own work, Attribution, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=8647640
Wall paintings, which were common during the Bronze Age under Mycenaean rule, disappeared, as did figures on pottery. What pottery that has been found has had various geometric designs. Even with the general lack of figures and geometric designs, the aesthetic wasn't uniform across the various cities and villages. During this time, there were developments, such as faster pottery wheels, that led to better quality pottery being produced later in it.
From about 1050 BCE, iron smelting and forging began to appear in Greece, though it's uncertain when exactly it began to appear. Smelting iron was learned from Cypress and the Levant and the Greeks improved on it, making it easier to arm more soldiers. As there were also local deposits of iron, the Greeks didn't need to rely on vast trade networks to create these weapons, allowing them to be developed more quickly.
Tumblr media
By George E. Koronaios - Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=69433673
Around 1000 BCE, pottery that we would consider ancient Greek began to develop and the Ionic Greek dialect began to be used more widely, showing a spread of culture as well. As the Dark Ages drew to a close, wealth began to spread a bit farther around the Aegean. Large sanctuaries like those at Heraion of Sanos and Delphi began to appear, showing that people had the wealth again to spend on offerings, allowing shrines to become more than simple affairs. Trade also began to pick up as evidenced by the spread of Greek goods throughout the Mediterranean and an increase of material culture.

This blog explores the strengths of Java, including its portability, robustness, vast ecosystem, and the thriving community that supports it. We will also discuss the value of structured training and the role of ACTE Technologies in nurturing your Java skills. By the end of this journey, you'll have a deep appreciation for the enduring excellence of Java and its role in the ever-evolving tech industry.
Tumblr media
The Power and Versatility of Java:
1. Portability and Cross-Platform Compatibility:
Java's claim to fame, "Write Once, Run Anywhere," is not just a marketing slogan. It's a fundamental principle of Java that sets it apart. This feature is made possible by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), which allows Java code to run on any platform that has a compatible JVM. This portability has been a game-changer, especially in a world where a diverse range of devices and operating systems coexist. Whether it's Windows, macOS, or Linux, Java applications run seamlessly, eliminating compatibility issues and reducing development time and effort.
2. Robust and Secure:
Java's architecture prioritizes robustness and security. It employs strong type checking, automatic memory management (garbage collection), and comprehensive exception handling. These features make Java code less prone to common programming errors and vulnerabilities. For businesses and organizations where system reliability and data security are critical, Java's robustness and built-in security mechanisms make it a go-to choice. Critical systems, such as banking applications, rely on Java to ensure the highest level of protection against errors and threats.
3. Vast Ecosystem:
The Java ecosystem is vast and varied. It includes an extensive library of classes, frameworks, and tools that cater to a wide range of application development needs. Some of the notable components of this ecosystem include:
Java Standard Library: Java's standard library provides a wealth of pre-built classes and utilities for common programming tasks, simplifying development.
Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB): For enterprise-level applications, EJB offers a framework for building scalable, distributed, and transactional components.
JavaServer Pages (JSP) and Servlets: These technologies enable the development of dynamic web applications, making Java a popular choice for web development.
Spring Framework: Spring is a comprehensive framework for building enterprise-level applications, offering features like dependency injection, aspect-oriented programming, and more.
Android Development: Java serves as the primary language for developing Android mobile applications, further expanding its reach.
4. Community and Support:
Java's success is not only due to its technical prowess but also its thriving community of developers, enthusiasts, and experts. This community-driven approach ensures that Java remains relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with industry best practices. Developers can find a wealth of resources, forums, and collaborative environments where they can learn, share knowledge, and solve challenges. The community's collective wisdom and problem-solving spirit have contributed to the continuous evolution of Java.
