The F-14 Tomcat, an iconic American supersonic fighter jet, gained fame for its swing-wing design and role as a carrier-based interceptor. Developed by Grumman for the US Navy, it entered service in 1974 and was retired in 2006.

In 1974, an F-14A set a world speed record, reaching 1,606.342 miles per hour (2,585.086 kilometers per hour) over a 500-kilometer closed-circuit course. Its remarkable speed capabilities were underscored by its ability to exceed Mach 2.

This was supposed to be done… so long ago wow. For our second year of dating anniversary! Life got in the way and I struggled with rendering it how I wanted; was trying something new and probably could have done it better but I still think it turned out well!

Beautiful! An F-14 Tomcat from VF-2 "Bounty Hunters" buzzing the USS Ranger (CV-61). Did you know that the Ranger had the distinction of being the first US carrier built from the beginning as an angled-deck ship? It entered service in 1957 (was retired in 1993).
