#DailyDevotion What Do We Sacrifice Our Children To For Success? Psalm 106 32They made Him angry by the water of Meribah and got Moses into trouble, 33making him feel bitter and talk rashly. The Psalm continues with how Israel acted poorly in their relationship with the LORD who saved them. Again, instead of praying to the LORD and making known their needs in faith, they in unbelief grumbled against Moses and the LORD. Moses got so mad he struck the rock instead of only speaking to the rock, as the LORD commanded. You might remember the first time Moses struck a rock to bring forth water for Israel. Because Moses didn't do what He commanded, the LORD forbade him from entering the Promised Land with the Israelites. We do not get direct commands from the LORD as Moses did. Yet, we have the clear word of God. Do we often add to what God has commanded us or taken something away to make it easier? Doing so may lead us to greater sins. The LORD just wants to be trusted. He knows what He is talking about. 34They didn't destroy the people as the LORD told them. 35but mingled with the nations. They learned to do what they did, 36and worshiped their idols, which were a trap for them. 37They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons, 38poured out innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land was polluted by bloodshed. 39They defiled themselves by what they did; they behaved like prostitutes. 40Then the LORD became angry at His people and was disgusted with His own. 41He put them into the hands of other nations, and those who hated them ruled over them. 42Their enemies oppressed them, and they became subject to their power. Here we have the rest of the history of Israel. They never completely removed the wicked pagans from the land the LORD had given them as He told them. They instead mingled with them. As the LORD warned them, they quickly picked up the false religion and beliefs of these people. Some of the false beliefs and practices involve human sacrifice, even sacrificing their own sons and daughters. You have to be particularly selfish in your desire for success to sacrifice your own sons and daughters, to false gods at that, which are demons. Bloodshed polluted the land. Have we in our land sacrificed our children for the sake of success in worldly things? The people, Israel, was the LORD's Bride. Yet they committed spiritual adultery by worshiping other gods. They prostituted themselves spiritually and literally, as these gods had temple prostitutes, male and female. We don't have temple prostitutes any more, but have we made sex the idol of our day. The LORD said, if you want to worship and serve other gods, you will serve the people whose gods they worship. So they became subject to the nations whose gods they served. 43Many times He rescued them, but they planned rebellion and sank lower in their sin. 44He saw they were in trouble when He heard them crying. 45He remembered His covenant with them and relented according to His great mercy. 46He made all their captors pity them. 47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from the nations to give thanks to Your holy name and to glory in praising You. 48Praise the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. And let all the people say Amen. Praise the LORD! It is amazing the mercy and grace of the LORD, how often He rescued them and took them back. How often has the LORD forgiven us, pitied us, and saved us from our sins? We should thank and praise our LORD Jesus Christ every day for His tender mercies toward us who reject Him by our sins against Him daily. Merciful God and Father, You forgave Your ancient people, so now forgive us and save us today, those who call upon the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. #EditorsPick on #GraceandTruth I WAS WRONG ABOUT KISSING BEFORE MARRIAGE More than a week ago, I shared my counsel with a lady who was in love with a man, who had told her that he couldn't move forward with the relationship if kissing was off the table.  My counsel to her, based on my understanding, was that I personally believed kissing is okay before marriage, but that she also needs to pray to God about it, and if and when she would engage in it. When I initially shared my counsel with her over email, I was glad that it was private, because I knew that a lot of people would challenge that belief - but I was sure that they were wrong, and were simply being religious.  I felt prompted by God to share it publicly on my Reader Questions series, and of course the outcome was a lot of opposition.  I argued my point using - and abusing - scripture.  I took Paul's reference to giving holy kisses out of context, because it was the only reference to legitimate kissing in the Bible. Exalted be the God, Most High, our wondrous loving Heavenly Father ! Praises and honor be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, a warm and hearty welcome to this site. The subject verse from the first Epistle of Apostle Paul to the Corinthians seems like a general statement of truth. However, the verse reveals us a greater truth to live a good christian life. From the context of the verse, it is clear that the people of the Corinth believed that their sins are washed away. But they were of wrong belief that a person can do anything after cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Moreover, there are people even now who do the same things in these modern times. Overcome Sexual Immorality Man's wishful thinking and succumbing to the lusts of the body surely distances him from God. Relating a person's sexual immorality to just indulgence in food is very wrong on their part. Moreover, sexual immorality is a sin in the sight of the God. Indulgence in the bodily lusts only weaken our spirit and ultimately destroy our soul. As the verse says, our bodies are for the Lord. And if they are for the Lord then they are to be holy for He is holy. As another verse little ahead in this same chapter says: Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV From all the above, it is very plain to us to say that we do not own ourselves. Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. By sexual immorality, we destroy the temple of the Holy Spirit. Therefore brethren let us put every effort to overcome this sexual immorality. Remember brethren, do not depend on your own strength, but on the Lord who overcame all this. Yes, let Jesus be our strength to overcome not only the sexual immorality but also every kind of weakness and temptation. Sex outside of marriage is considered sexual immorality, which is a sin. For the unmarried Christian, abstinence is the only option. Use caution in what you allow into your mind, and don't dwell on sexual fantasies. Make your thoughts obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and learn to express your pent-up energy in healthy ways. Abstinence can be frustrating when your body is driving you in the opposite direction, but Christ knows the struggles of humanity, and He will help you if you ask (Hebrews 4:15-16). I am going to talk about the #LGBTQ #agenda. It seems to be the trending issue, but only for those who are in support of the #movement. I read a post today that was really enlightening, about the existence of #intersex people. Not that I wasn't aware that there were such people in the world. I am familiar with the term #amaphrodite, not sure if it is still #pc. I liked the message communicated in the post about #discrimination and #segregation. The writer also appealed to Africans, who were once (and still in some minds) considered inferior and made slaves of, because of their dark skin. It made a lot of sense. But I got the feeling that they were also trying to justify the #sinful things that these people do, because of who they are. And to me, that's changing the whole conversation. Now we know what #slavery is, we know that WHITE are not allowed to keep slaves because they are light skinned. Sin is sin. Sexual immorality is sexual immorality. It doesn't make a difference if the two people doing it are #straight or #gay. It is still sinful. To make it clearer, a lie is still a lie, even if you are a politician. In Christianity, our issue is always with the sin, and not the person - not the sinner. Yes, we can understand why some people are prone to certain behaviours, but it doesn't excuse them. Rape is still rape, even if you're her husband! When we can make the distinction, then we can really address the issue of sin... If that's our true concern.
