d6CatClans System Playtesting - Y4 Winter

This is part of my d6CatClans pen&paper solo system.

On we go.

Season Start

We open the season with a good omen, which is pleasant after last season. Provided I don't have the memory of a goldfish and keep in mind I have it, that'll give me a free meter table reroll this season. Which we might need. Situations tick down. Notably, the loner lion finally pads elsewhere.

Meters. Low Scarcity and high Triage, but neither in overflow yet. Trespass and Discontent are low, but we still have rolls. Our spy situation with Thorncloud and Dew leads to an ambush trap that Bluestripe falls into. Since there's lethal intent involved, I'm going to check for severe injury. There is severe injury. Is it worse than that? Yes. 

In a series of rolls, I determine that Dew intended to cause Bluestripe to drown, but he got trapped in a mud wallow instead, able to breath and weakly call for help, but unable to free himself alone. He was eventually found by his clanmates, but his eyes and ears ended up badly infected from the experience. Bluestripe is severely injured at present and if he survives, dice say that his sight and hearing prospects will be in steep decline. He is maimed. 

Dew still thinks she killed him. Thorncloud has distressed, mixed feelings.

And we still have Discontent to roll about.

Scaleheart is irritable, and her irritation explodes at the latest chatter about Rainstar's scent on the border. She confronta Duskstar openly, asking why Rainstar hasn't been driven off permanently yet. Duskstar's silent for a time, then simply agrees. Perhaps she's thinking of Liontail's words. She says that Rainstar's presence will not be even passingly tolerated any longer - any patrol that encounters her is to ensure she isn't seen again. The same goes for any other HarrowClan cats lingering from this point on.

After, Hoofpelt asks if that isn't going too far. Duskstar points out that letting potentially vengeful cats linger on the border is only a threat. Not long after, Hoofpelt goes looking for Rainstar. He finds Dew instead - or rather, she spies him. He calls out when he hears her scurrying away, but he doesn't find her.

Eveningeye hears him, finds him, and asks if he's looking for Rainstar. Hoofpelt doesn't answer right away. Eveningeye says he won't tell. Hoofpelt says he just wants to talk to her. Eveningeye takes him to the meeting place and they find Rainstar - Rainheart, she insists.

Hoofpelt says she needs to leave, and tells her about Duskstar's announcement. Rainstar says she has nowhere to go, and nowhere she wants to go. Hoofpelt asks if she knows anything about Bluestripe's accident. She doesn't. She asks if it happened because the clan is looking for her. Hoofpelt lies and says yes. Rainstar weighs, and says she'll move to live closer to the Moonfang - perhaps that will be far enough. Hoofpelt watches her go. He tells Eveningeye to stop meeting with her. Eveningeye says he just wanted to know his half-kin better. Hoofpelt says he has plenty of kin in the clan to worry about.

Winter, Moon 1

Ages up. Elephantpaw becomes a warrior, Elephantstep, to be commended for a fierce and strong attitude. He gains LP. Honorary words are said for Gnupaw and Rhinokit as well. Egretface is expecting three new kits by Acaciafur. Duskstar for now overlooks the prospect of retiring Bluestripe, allowing him the chance to die as a warrior if Shadecloud cannot save him.

Winter patient rolls. We somehow get by with no new patients... until the last roll where we get two regular patients and one severe one in a mini sickness outbreak. Wallowpelt, Emberstorm, and Gazellepaw, respectively. Still within Triage Limit - for now.

Hoofpelt grants a seasonal bonus success to medicine. Eveningeye helps with medicine, worried about his brother, and Saltfur curiously trails after. Shadecloud gives a seasonal LP to Sunwhisker. Yes, he has sibling favoritism.

Winter success needs.

Hunting - Hoofpelt, Sunwhisker, Acaciafur, Thorncloud

Border - Spottedstorm, Batpaw, Scaleheart, Lilypaw

Medicine - Shadecloud, Brightpaw, Saltfur, Eveningeye

Hunting. Just barely do they scratch out a neutral success. They find a clanmate in distress. Dogfur, restless to hunt, went out by himself and has become stuck in thick mud. The patrol manages to pull Dogfur out, but the tom is severely shaken and exhausted - he ends up going to Shadecloud's den with general injury. Acaciafur is distressed over all the mud incidents, and asks Hoofpelt to confine the apprentices - his kits - to camp until the dampness settles. Hoofpelt says he'll consider it.

Border. A neutral success is had, in a patrol marked by general chatter. Batpaw and Lilypaw lead the bulk of that, with Spottedstorm too distracted and Scaleheart too frustrated to hush them. Both she-cat apprentices are worried about their brother, Gazellepaw, and Lilypaw wants to bring him prey to give him strength. Batpaw points out that Shadecloud's not letting anyone near the sick cats. Lilypaw hopes Brightpaw doesn't get sick. Both apprentices gain seasonal skillups, considering the logistics of the clan between them.

Medicine. Despite Hoofpelt's assist, the medicine crew just barely eeks out a neutral success. Only one severe case can be helped this moon, between Bluestripe and Gazellepaw. I decide to make it a diceroll. Gazellepaw is lost. Brightpaw gains a seasonal skillup, learning the hard way that you can't save everyone.

All remaining patients are tended.

Winter, Moon 2

Ages up. Duskstar holds a ceremony to retire Bluestripe. Galeclaw surprises cats by saying it is time for him as well - no cat ever thought he would admit it, least of all soon. He walks to join his son in the ceremony. He reminds Duskstar of a cat in their old home, an elder who'd survived harsh injury and won, honored with a valiant name for it. Duskstar gets the hint and asks the failing-hearing Bluestripe if he would have such a name. He says he may not be able to hear it much longer, and says he just got stuck in mud. Galeclaw shows a touch of gentleness in saying no cat chooses what ruins their claws.

Duskstar considers and names him Wither-eye, and tells him she is sure he will serve his clan for many seasons to come. Bluestripe, now Withereye, bows his head. Galeclaw and Withereye move to the as-yet-unused elders' den.

No other new ceremonies. Sootstorm is now expecting a kit of ambiguous siring. 

Patients. The dice do not favor us this time, as we get a total of *14* new patients. The sickness resurges, to the distress of the medicine cats. Many warriors, both apprentices, a queen, Galeclaw, and almost Shadecloud - our medicine cat is spared by Hoofpelt spending an LP to be the recipient instead. We have both Triage and Scarcity tables to roll. Triage Limit up, but Discontent up too. Acaciafur gives extra food to Egretface when no one is looking. Sootstorm loses her expecting status. Nothing comes of the Discontent rise.

Hunting - Acaciafur, Eveningeye, Emberstorm

Border - Raypelt, Sootstorm, Nightstorm, Duskstar

Medicine - Shadecloud, Brightpaw, Sunwhisker, Scaleheart

Hunting. Neutral success. Eveningeye tries to keep everyone's spirits up with optimistic talk and friendly nudges.

Border. Neutral success. Things are a little awkward between Duskstar and the three former HarrowClan. It's a quiet, focused patrol.

Medicine. Bane failure. Scaleheart becomes a severe patient crossing into next moon when she tries to assist the medicine cats, but accidentally bites a poisonous leaf when she mistakes it for a requested one. Shadecloud is furious, and no extra patients may be cured this moon without LP.

Patients. We have fifteen patients and six Triage Limit. Brightpaw, Sunwhisker, Dogfur, Elephantstep, Sootstorm and Emberstorm contribute LP for expanding the Limit. Twelve limit. Including Scaleheart, three cats will cross into the next moon as severe patients, while the rest recover for now. Scaleheart, Starlingkit, and Galeclaw remain sick into next moon. Galeclaw's skill dips again from the severity. These three will require medicine patrol successes or a miracle next moon.

Winter, Moon 3

Ages up. No new ceremonies. Egretface delivers, but one of her kits is stillborn, and we don't really have the bandwidth to try to save it.

Patients. Nine new ones. With a good medicine patrol and some staggering into next moon, we should be able to save most cats. First, Triage table. Through the Night - one cat expands the Limit by 2, but becomes severe themselves while helping. I'm going to say it's Duskstar, and the dice confirm it. It's spread thoroughly in the kits and apprentices again, and both of our elders are sick. Wallowpelt gets sick a lot. The dice don't like him.

Hunting. Acaciafur, Sootstorm, Emberstorm, Nightstorm.

Border. Spottedstorm, Saltfur, Twilightwind, Hazeclaw.

Medicine. Shadecloud, Brightpaw, Hoofpelt, Eveningeye.

Hunting. Failure, bane table. I make some less petty suggestions, but the dice ultimately decide that the cause of the failure is that Sootstorm and Nightstorm are almost to a point of clawing and hissing over... Eveningeye, apparently. Popular guy, apparently, despite my making him low odds on that roll. I'm not sure they've ever actually broached anything with him or noticed he's still padding after Saltfur, but the hissy fits on this patrol are legendary. Emberstorm moves to the other side of Acaciafur. Acaciafur feels very old.

Border. We eek out a neutral success, bereft of the dramas plaguing the hunters. Twilightwind and Hazeclaw try to distract from the rough season by teasing Saltfur about whether she and Eveningeye are ever gonna end the will-they-or-won't-they. 

Later: Saltfur is now expecting 3 kits.

Medicine. Neutral success. We can save one severe case. We have four: Duskstar, Scaleheart, Starlingkit, and Galeclaw. I will roll two guanteed failures. The last I'll have to decide - or Shadecloud will. Galeclaw and Scaleheart (Lilypaw needs a new mentor) are lost to wet season illness. Shadecloud chooses to save his son over his leader. Duskstar dies her final death. 

No severe cases remain. Ten patients remain.

But it isn't quite time for a new season.

Hoofpelt must go to the Moonfang.

Leader Transition

Shadecloud and his brother go to the Moonfang, and enter the cave beneath the saber-cat's ancient maw. Hoofpelt goes to sleep.

(1) The brown tabby is greeted by his mother, Brightfoot. He has mixed feelings at the sight of her, but she presses her nose to his. "With this life," she says, "I give you lonely fortitude. The life of a leader is not always one of shared burdens, and some paths you will walk alone." He sees glimpses of her lonely journey from the old home, sees that old home too, and feels the desperation of all things familiar falling away in wake of the drive to keep moving forward. Brightfoot steps away.

(2) She is replaced by Liontail, Hoofpelt's imemdiate predecessor. She is scarred and rugged, and her eyes shine with defiance. Her nose presses to his. "With this life I give you self-sacrifice. A leader's calling is to set aside your own needs - be they physical or otherwise - for the good of those who place trust in you." He senses all of her fierce protectiveness of the borders, tastes the blood of HarrowClan again. She is gone when Hoofpelt opens his eyes from it.

(3) The next cat makes Hoofpelt flinch - it is Rainstar, who he didn't know until now to be dead. It was a cruel wet season. But her nose to his, she says softly, "With this life I give you hope. It will not serve you by itself. But let it keep you steady in grim times, when all other succor seems lost. Use it to never lose sight of what you fight for."

(4) Next comes one that Hoofpelt does not recognize. A large grey tabby, chest splashed with white, paws like a lion. "I am Hillstar," says the cat. "I led HarrowClan before Rainstar." He presses his nose to Hoofpelt's. "With this life I give you skepticism. It takes strength to fight, but perhaps it would have been better had I learned sooner of the strength to question. Question your traditions, question your truths - and most of all question yourself."

(5) He's shouldered past by Galeclaw, strong and proud as once ever he was, and Galeclaw presses his nose to Hoofpelt. "With this life I give you strength. Steady now. You are a kit no more, but the stone the clan clings to lest the storms wash it away. Question as Hillstar said if you must, but don't let it stay you from your task."

(6) Hoofpelt's heart breaks to see his first apprentice, Scaleheart. But it is as though a weight has lifted from her. "With this life I give you ferocity. You'll need it, softclaw," she adds fondly, harkening to her swift exceeding of him in a fight. He senses her agility and dexterity in battle, the fierce pumping of blood in her ears when she was injured fighting HarrowClan, and the immense intoxication of adrenaline as she pursued intruders. His claws flick out with the sensations, but then she's away.

(7) His other apprentice replaces her. Fogpaw was lost in the flood, and Hoofpelt is struck by the memory of how small she was, then and now. She stretches up her nose to his. "With this life I give you compassion. Use it to care for all of your clan great and small - and perhaps those beyond it."

(8) Leaving Hoofpelt that to chew on, the apprentice retreats and is replaced by Hoofpelt's half-sister, Cragfang, lost in the war upon HarrowClan. Hoofpelt stares at her. "You were so young," he says, with fresh realization and pain. Cragfang presses her nose to his. "With this life," she says, "I give you curiosity. Skepticism is well and good, but the world is so much bigger than us. Use curiosity to guide you in trials beyond the border."

(9) Last but not least to come is Duskstar. Her eye is still clouded, but her pelt and manner shine with youthful vigor and dignity. She stops to study him, but only for a moment. "With this life I give you wisdom and flexibility and love. StormClan's new home is assured for now, and bountiful seasons await. The wet seasons of my time are behind you. Lead StormClan into a pleasant warmth as the waters recede. Your old life is no more - I name you Hoofstar, and welcome you as leader of StormClan."

His new name echoes and echoes within the cave, long after Hoofstar emerges. He goes home. He surprises the clan by naming Raypelt - the older former HarrowClan cat - as his new deputy, and he gives her the remainder of Lilypaw's training.

Wallowpelt and Thorncloud remain patients into the next moon, becoming severe. All others tended.

Shadecloud of CliffClan

Fiercely protective of her kits, and often intense in the way that she speaks to and approaches others, especially strangers. Her somewhat frightening presentation softens when she is around her kits, who she cherishes more than anything. She is very nurturing with other kits, as well, and could very easily be a den mother if she wished. However, she wants to support her daughter in her newfound endeavor to revive the clans of old, and so she has stepped up to put her somewhat rusty fighting skills to the test as a defender of CliffClan.

okay so the basic plot is that Icestar took control of all four clans, merged them into only shadowclan and then died. now there's currently only shadowclan.

so then Whitetiger is born and xe is "reborn" of Icestar. (icestar can visit him in his dreams and he talks to him in his mind) so basically Whitetiger is trying not to become evil.

so here's what I have of the plot draft so far:

Prologue-

shows Icestar getting attacked by Bumbleheart and a few other warriors before getting pushed off a cliff and falling into his death. He then wakes up in the dark-forest and glances around. He then is shown a kit that looks similar to him and Icestar knows that this kit will allow his leadership to lead on.

Chapter one-

Explains how Whitekit is currently the cat Icestar is reborn into and how she is controlled by Icestar and how Icestar used to be able to control her.. But now Icestar is basically only stuck in her head and can only talk to her. Icestar and Whitekit argue inside their heads about how Whitekit wants to be a medicine cat to avoid fighting but Icestar doesn’t want her to be one. Finally, they agree and Icestar points out that being a medicine cat will make Whitekit able to gain power more quickly along with the knowledge of deadly herbs. Whitekit ignores this and goes and asks Bumblestar if she can become the next medicine cat apprentice. Bumblestar shrugs and says that as long as Harestripe agrees and Harestripes says it’s fine. Whitekit then becomes Whitepaw and goes to the moonstone. But when she’s at the moonstone she is taken to the dark-forest. Icestar explains that now that she is an apprentice she will get roughly trained here during the night. Whitepaw doesn’t like this but she deals with it. She then wakes up and goes to sleep in the medicine cat den.

Chapter two-

Chapter starts with Whitepaw getting roughly trained by Icestar and with her earning a few wounds. When she wakes up Harestripe asks what happened and Whitepaw says that nothing happened but Harestripe doesn’t believe her and asks again. Whitepaw just ignores Harestripe and is panicked but Icestar tells Whitepaw to lie and say she was attacked by a fox at night when she was trying to gather herbs. Whitepaw does so. Harestripe is proud of their apprentice for gathering herbs but tells Whitepaw to be careful next time and to not go out of camp alone again. Whitepaw, although ashamed she had to lie to Harestripe, agrees. Whitepaw and Harestripe then go out gathering herbs. Harestripe quizzes Whitepaw on some of the herbs and then they return back to camp and eat.

Chapter three-

Starts with Whitepaw starting to like being a medicine cat apprentice and is eager to learn more. He thinks that his mentor is kind and is starting to look up at Harestripe and consider them a parent figure. Since Whitepaw’s parents were killed in the battle with Icestar. Icestar tells Whitepaw that becoming a medicine cat is only so she can learn deadly herbs and become powerful. Not so he can escape fighting. This leads to Whitepaw getting angry. Whitepaw then asks Harestripe if they need anything and Harestripe says no so Whitepaw goes to sleep and is forced to train with Icestar again.

Chapter four-

Whitepaw is turning into a mental wreck. He barely gets any sleep due to training and Icestar is training him even harsher. Whitepaw has wounds often and is almost always covered in cobwebs although nobody suspects anything. Whitepaw is turning angry and bitter, not speaking unless she has too and lying in her nest forcing himself to stay awake. She is also questioning a lot about herself. Whether she really is a she-cat or not. During one of her training sessions Whitepaw is screamed at and called useless. She then wakes up covered in blood, sobbing and she unsheathes her claws and sinks them into her flesh out of rage and sadness. Just as she did that Harestripe walks in and is shocked. Harestripe comforts Whitepaw, curls up next to her and wraps her in cobwebs. They ask what's wrong and Whitepaw wants to tell her mentor everything about Icestar but instead she blurts out that she’s having problems discovering herself, that she feels useless, like a burden and thinks everybody hates her and that she doesn’t want to be a she-cat. But Harestripe isn’t mad and he in fact asks Whitepaw if she is transgender. Whitepaw is confused so Harestripe explains what that is. Whitepaw realizes that this is her so he starts using it/he/they pronouns and realizes that he is gay. Harestripe sleeps next to Whitepaw that night, curling up next to him as if Whitepaw is a kit.

Chapter five-

Whitepaw feels some-what better about himself and is getting stronger. But he’s still depressed but also he is getting closer with Harestripe. Whitepaw has a few scars from battle training and Harestripe thinks that their self-harm scars but Whitepaw knows they aren’t but he doesn’t want to tell Harestripe about Icestar, thinking that Harestripe would think that he’s insane and that Whitepaw would lose his only support system. Icestar kind of feels bad that he’s training Whitepaw harshly and he promises to calm down a little.

Chapter six-

Whitepaw is still training with Icestar. But he isn’t getting trained that badly and is able to tolerate Icestar. Although he still doesn’t exactly like him. Whitepaw sees a fox on the high rock and is shocked. But he realizes that this is only an omen. He then is ordered to get catmint and Whitepaw leaves the camp to do so. Once he’s out of camp and heads towards the two-leg place he is greeted by a she-cat named Fox. Fox and Whitepaw talk and the two hit it off. Whitepaw forgets to take catmint back to camp but they bring Fox back and Fox talks to Bumblestar and Fox becomes a warrior apprentice, getting the name Foxpaw and getting apprenticed to Clawstep.

Chapter seven-

Whitepaw goes out of camp to get catmint again and this time he actually gets it and meets Foxpaw on the way back to camp. Foxpaw is a decent warrior and everybody likes her. Whitepaw likes her as well. But they don’t think much of it in the end. He drops the catmint off and has a chat with Harestripe and shares prey with them before going into the forest and taking a nap. Greypaw and Vinepaw are made warriors with the names Greydust and Vineflower. Whitetiger never really liked Vineflower. He then wakes up in the dark-forest with Icestar, who laughs at Whitepaw and tells him that he has a crush on Foxpaw. But Whitepaw is confused and says he doesnt. The two train and then Icestar tells Whitepaw that his time to strike is soon. Whitepaw is worried about this but he wakes up and goes into the medicine cat den, trying to fall asleep although he couldn’t fall asleep due to his stress.

Chapter eight-

A few moons had passed and Foxpaw had been settling into the clan well. Whitepaw spend a lot of time with her and the two were close. Whitepaw realizes that he has a crush on Foxpaw, despite Foxpaw being a she-cat and he talks with Harestripe. Harestripe warns Whitepaw that medicine cats aren’t allowed to have mates but the two talk and Whitepaw realizes he’s abrosexual. Whitepaw has been spending a lot of time fighting and getting stronger for Icestar’s plans. Despite not fully knowing what Icestar’s plans exactly are. He then talks with Foxpaw and the two spend time together. Whitepaw decides to sleep next to Foxpaw in the apprentices den but Whitepaw dreams of Icestar and the two fight and Whitepaw wakes up in his nest, some blood matted in his pelt and him being terrified. This wakes Foxpaw up and Foxpaw is shocked and asks Whitepaw what’s wrong with him. Although Whitepaw is scared he decides to take Foxpaw out of the camp and tell her about how icestar is in his mind. Icestar doesn’t want Foxpaw to know but Whitepaw doesn’t care. Whitepaw tells Foxpaw everything and Foxpaw believes him. The two then return back to camp and cuddle and Whitepaw goes to sleep.

Chapter nine-

Whitepaw and Foxpaw decide to become mates although nobody knows of their relationship but Icestar. Icestar doesn’t really care. He just tells Whitepaw this shouldn’t make him get weak and not do his training. Whitepaw asks Icestar what he wants him to do. Icestar tells him that he will know once Whitepaw is made an proper medicine cat. Whitepaw shrugs it off and soon Harestripe tells him that today is the day he will become a proper medicine cat. Whitepaw nods and wonders what his warrior name will be. He then goes to the moonpool and gets the name Whitetiger. Whitetiger then heads back to the camp and dreams of Icestar. Icestar tells Whitetiger that its time for him to kill Harestripe.

Chapter ten-

Whitetiger is shocked and of course tells icestar no. he doesn’t want to kill Harestripe since Harestripe was like a parent to him. But Icestar tells him that he has to kill Harestripe because with Harestripe dead Whitetiger will be the only medicine cat and that he could give fake prophecies to Bumblestar and take control of him. But Whitetiger doesn’t want to. Icestar starts to get angry and threatens to kill Whitetiger. But Whitetiger doesn’t care and tells Icestar that he can try to kill him if he wants. Icestar then threatens to kill Foxpaw which makes Whitetiger finally feel bad. He then starts sobbing and Icestar feels pity. He tries to comfort Whitetiger, by placing his tail around Whitetiger but Whitetiger jumps away. Icestar tells Whitetiger that you have to do what you must to become powerful. Whitetiger is shocked and asked Icestar if he ever regretted anything he done. After a few moments of silence Icestar does say he regrets a few things. Like for example, not always being there for his mate, Scorchshine. He then explains how Scorchshine is now in starclan while Icestar stays in the dark-forest because he wants to harm shadowclan. Whitetiger asks Icestar if he will ever want to change. Icestar snaps and tells Whitetiger that he will kill Harestripe or else and that his backstory doesn’t matter. Whitetiger is shocked but after a while he agrees to kill Harestripe. Icestar tells Whitetiger to kill him near thunderclan’s old territory because a fox recently roamed there. Whitetiger agrees.

Chapter eleven-

Whitetiger doesn’t want to kill Harestripe and he feels bad. But he does as Icestar asks and brings Harestripe onto the old thunderclan territory before killing them. Whitetiger is shocked and full of greif. And he regrets his actions, collapsing onto Harestripe’s body and sobbing. But he forces himself to get up, clean the blood off his paws and then he takes a fox’s fur he sees by a fox and places it on Harestripe’s body. Whitetiger then claws himself up a little because Harestripe didn’t hurt him and partly because he felt he deserved it. He then rushes back to camp and reveals that Harestripe got killed by a fox. Bumblestar is shocked and Bumblestar sends out Clawstep, Wasptalon, Foxpaw and Tansyspeck to take Harestripe’s body back and remark the territory with their scent and Whitetiger goes along. He notices that Wasptalon and Clawstep are closer and wonders if there mates and if Wasptalon is over his past mate, Snowhare’s death. He then sees Tansyspeck filled with grief and Tansyspeck tells Whitetiger that Harestripe was a close friend of hers. That makes Whitetiger feel worse and they mark the territory before taking harestripe back to camp. They set vigil and Foxpaw comforts Whitetiger and makes him feel better but Whitetiger still feels bad.

Chapter twelve-

Whitetiger is depressed and even Icestar has been leavig him alone. Despite being the only medicine cat he mostly has been lying in his nest. Vineflower has been sent to the nursey because she’s expecting Greydust’s kits. Whitetiger thinks that she’s only a young warrior but shakes it off. Today is Foxpaw’s warrior ceremony so he tries to stay cheerful. He watches as she gets named Foxtail. He cheers for her and the two talk. Foxtail asks Whitetiger to talk alone in the forest and they do. Foxtail reveals that she isn’t a she-cat and that they are actually a tom and are transgender and use he/him pronouns. Whitetiger is of course supportive and the two cuddle for a bit. Foxtail then asks Whitetiger if something is wrong with him and Whitetiger tells him that everything is fine but Foxtail doesn’t belive it so Whitetiger blurts out he killed Harestripe and explains everything. Foxtail tells Whitetiger that he isn’t a bad cat and the two bond before returning back to camp.

Chapter thirteen-

It is now leafbre and it’s bad currently and greencough is out. Vineflower has greencough gives birth a moon early and Whitetiger panics as he tries to help her. She ends up giving birth to five kits named Dawnkit, Dewkit, Dustkit, Dovekit and Lostkit. But Lostkit ends up dying and that leads to Vineflower getting depresed and she snaps at Whitetiger, blaming them for the death of her kit. Foxtail points out that Whitetiger did his best and that it wasn’t his fault that Lostkit died. But Greydust comforts his mate. Whitetiger goes to sleep, feeling that this was his fault although Foxtail tries to comfort Whitetiger but it doesn’t work. During his dreams Icestar tries to convince Whitetiger to kill Tansyspeck but he refuses, still guilty over Harestripe’s death. -

chapter three is still a wip. so here's what I want to add. I'm thinking I want the first book (this one) to have 15 chapters and end on a cliffhanger or something:

now I want Tansyspeck to have to retire for some reason so Foxtail can become deputy but I want her alive for a scene later on then I need Bumblestar to die so Foxstar can become leader. then I want some sort of threat that isn't Icestar and Whitetiger. then I want Whitetiger to slip into a coma and confront Icestar while Foxtail, now Foxstar panics and is comforted by Tansyspeck. then I want during the coma for Whitetiger and Icestar to have a long talk and then Icestar admits he feels bad for what he has done and regrets what he's doing. then I want him to see his mate, Scorchshine in starclan (he reemeded himself. in my story dark-forest cats can go to starclan if they proved they paid for their actions) and then wants to get into starclan. but other cats such as Haresnow, Rocky, Harestripe and Rosestar (the leader that made Icestar deputy) Rosestar tries to kill Icestar and almost does but Haresnow is pissed and screams at her alongside Harestripe, saying that if they kill Icestar or let him die they are stooping to his level. Harestripe, Whitetiger and Haresnow go to find herbs and they save Icestar's life. Icestar is confused on why Haresnow wants to save his life and she reveals that he is his sister. the two have a moment and Icestar is saved, allowed into starclan. Icestar then tells Whitetiger he is sorry and that Whitetiger needs to make Shadowclan, Riverclan, Windclan and thunderclan into four clans again as one cat cannot hold that much power. Whitetiger tries to put out that there isn't enough cats but he wakes up and goes to the gathering place (the clans still go to the gathering to honor starclan despite there only being one clan) Whitetiger then blurts out what starclan told him about the four clans. Foxstar is shocked but agrees to it. then Foxstar makes the four clans again but with changed rules. you can go onto another clans land, you can have mates with a cat from another clan and medicine cats can have mates and kits. then cats began to switch clans and lead them. then the story ends on a sweet note between Foxstar and Whitetiger

I need to decide the new clan leaders and which cat is going where. then I need to decide what threat I can add in so Bumblestar dies, I was thinking a fox but I'm not sure. -

i'm thinking this book has some sort of conflict that kills Bumblestar and hurts Tansyspeck so Foxtail can become leader. i'm thinking the other part of the plot I added above can be in the part two of a book.

but any feedback you can give be is great <3

Remember to pace these events so we can get to know the characters.

Maybe make Icestar appear like a good guy so it makes sense why Whitepaw doesn’t fight back for a while.

Make sure to build the parent-child relationship of Whitepaw and Harestripe to make the results hurt.

Make sure White and Fox have buildup and chemistry to make it work.

For this redemption of Icestar, make sure to give him some good qualities or maybe make him misguided in what he does. Morally gray can work.

Maybe a dog attack or a fire could kill Bumblestar or maybe getting hit by a car could hurt Tawnyspeck

d6CatClans System Playtesting - Y4 Autumn

This is part of my d6CatClans pen&paper solo system.

On we go.

Season Start.

Frick. General Event Table gives us Major Physical Disaster. +2 Triage and Scarcity for the Season. d3 cats will die. d3 will be injured. Two die. Two are injured. What happened? Dice say flash flood, as the dry season ends with a sudden rainfall. 

The clan is awakened by a yowl of alarm as one of the older warriors realizes what is happening. Cats scramble to get to safety. Water rises fast in the camp. Emberpaw notices Fogpaw struggling and lunges to help her - he's almost swept away himself, soaked cold, and when Nightpaw and Sootpaw drag his shaking form from the muck, the smallest apprentice is nowhere to be seen. Elephantpaw lets out a screech for Gnupaw as the clan takes to higher ground, but she doesn't answer. Egretface nearly drowns trying to ensure her kits get to safety, grasped in the jaws of warriors.

When all settles, Hoofpelt numbly comes to sit beside Twilightwind and speak softly to her. She cries out - the last of her litter is gone.

Fogpaw and Gnupaw join their ancestors. Emberpaw and Egretface are injured. Most of the clan's prey and herbs have been swept away, and the territory thrashed in the meanwhile.

Situations tick down. The Quality Herb Stores situation is lost. 

Meters. Scarcity and Triage are high, but probably manageable. Trespass low, no incident. Discontent low, fraternization complication. I roll and determine Hyenasong is expecting Shadecloud's kit. Hopefully they don't look like their daddy.

Autumn, Moon 1

Ages up. Dogpaw becomes a warrior, Dogfur. He is commended for tireless service to the clan. Egretface's kits become apprentices, but one is singled out - Brightkit becomes Brightpaw, apprentice medicine cat. A few cats jest that Shadecloud's snippiness and Brightpaw's impatience will make for a cranky medicine den.

Lilypaw, Batpaw, and Gazellepaw are apprenticed to Scaleheart, Spottedstorm, and Sunwhisker. Lots of Ss. Scaleheart's matchup in particular is made in hopes that Lilypaw's sweet disposition will mellow out the moody warrior, and somewhat vice versa. Egretface moves to the warriors' den and the nursery is left empty for the first time in seasons - though it won't be for long. No new queens besides Hyenasong. No new litters. 

We have three patients this season. Duskstar and Twilightwind are sick, while Nightpaw has strained herself helping rescue the kits during the flood. They join Emberpaw and Egretface in the sniffles-den. We're at Triage Limit now, so hopefully nothing else happens.

Saltfur is allowed to return to normal duties, but she lingers to help Shadecloud this moon.

Hunting - Sunwhisker, Gazellepaw, Hoofpelt, Thorncloud

Border - Spottedstorm, Batpaw, Scaleheart, Lilypaw

Medicine - Shadecloud, Brightpaw, Saltfur

Hunting. Neutral success. Gazellepaw gets seasonal skillup, and uses LP for another when he catches a familiar scent from his nursery days. The four find Twilightwind out of the medicine den, ambling and whispering for her kits in sickness-hazed distress. She freezes when she sees Hoofpelt, then quietly beseeches him to tell her Fogpaw's been found. The distraught deputy reminds her that Fogpaw is dead.

Thorncloud hesitantly steps forward, mumbling something about how Twilightwind looks like her mother. Even through the haze, Twilightwind comprehends what she doesn't say, and moves to lick the young she-cat's head. "I know I don't look like her," Thorncloud says quietly. "But - if you need someone..."

Twilightwind rests her nose against Thorncloud's head, and her purrs are sorrow-choked but grateful.

Border. Neutral success, but both apprentices get seasonal skillups. Batpaw and Lilypaw are enthusiastic, and the mother-daughter pair that comprise their mentors watch the roving young cats with a sense of balm to pains of late. Spottedstorm comments that Batpaw looks like her father (Acaciafur) did, back when Mudwhisker was mentoring him many moons ago. Scaleheart admits it's hard to imagine Acaciafur as a kit. Spottedstorm laughs and says that he sulked for moons about his warrior ceremony being late. Dogpaw worries that her ceremony will be late - Spottedstorm assures her than Duskstar isn't going anywhere.

Medicine. Neutral success. Shadecloud becomes irritated with Brightpaw's own prickliness and assigns the apprentice to clean out the dens, lest they make cats sick. Brightpaw sulks. Saltfur comes to help him. He doesn't exactly feel better, but he feels less alone.

Shadecloud gives a seasonal LP to Hoofpelt, warning his brother that Duskstar won't live forever. Hoofpelt says he thinks she has some moons left in her. Shadecloud says that's what every car has, until they don't. Hoofpelt sighs and says he wishes Shadecloud wasn't so jaded. Shadecloud says that maybe he'd be less so if the clan didn't spend his early moons acting like he was going to poison them on purpose. He adds that if anyone whispers about Brightpaw like that too, he *will* poison them. Leaning to assume Shadecloud is exaggerating for effect, Hoofpelt says he won't tolerate such talk about Brightpaw.

Patients are all tended.

Autumn, Moon 2

Ages up. No new ceremonies. No new queens. No new litters.

Patients: Two. Galeclaw and Spottedstorm acquire minor cuts and tears after dirt gives way during a patrol and sends them into a thornbush. Galeclaw in particular finds himself stiffening with the aches.

Hunting - Hoofpelt, Acaciafur, Emberpaw, Thorncloud

Border - Scaleheart, Lilypaw, Raypelt, Elephantpaw

Medicine - Shadecloud, Brightpaw

Hunting. Boon success. Emberpaw and Thorncloud start chatting, and Emberpaw admits that he missed her and Dewpaw when they left the nursery back in HarrowClan, and nips that he was disappointed when they didn't come to StormClan right away. He says they'd promised to look out for them and teach them all the best moves. Thorncloud's swayed by it and says that he's doing really well under Acaciafur. Emberpaw asks if anyone's been rude to her for HarrowClan roots. She shrugs it off and alludes that her mother being Rainheart earns more than that does. Emberpaw wonders if that's why Dew stays away - because she looks more like their mother. Thorncloud changes the subject, but there's a teensy seed planted in her stance as a spy.

Border. Boon success, and Elephantpaw gets his seasonal skillup. The patrol encounters Rainstar's scent. Lilypaw wonders why she's sticking around still. Scaleheart side-eyes Raypelt, but Raypelt just says that Rainstar never fully fit in in HarrowClan - the clan rallied around her because of Deepleaf's assurances and Rainstar's prowess, but both started showing cracks after a season or two. Raypelt supposes that Rainstar's miserable - too long too loyal to the wrong clan, a clan that doesn't exist anymore. Elephantpaw says that if he finds her in the territory, he'll make sure she gets the message to leave. Raypelt simply nods, leaving Scaleheart's fur unruffled.

Medicine. Neutral success. Shadecloud has dreams of a stampede - but when he looks upon where the hoofbeats are coming from, he sees the clan, pelts rippling and muscles strong. A good omen for his brother's potential rise? He isn't sure. He keeps it to himself, other than to reassure Duskstar in her choice of deputy.

All patients cleared.

Autumn, Moon 3

Ages up. It is time for the former HarrowClan kits to become warriors. Duskstar looks over the clan as she speaks. She says that the first warrior she ever named was Spottedstorm - for surety that StormClan would survive yet. And it has. And now she will bestow the rare naming upon not one cat, but three, reaffirming once and for all that these three new warriors not only are loyal and worthy of their names, but that they are StormClan warriors to be proud of - and no one should question this. She names them Sootstorm, Emberstorm, and Nightstorm, thanks them for their steadiness and surety and curiosity that have carried them through rougher moons. All gain LP. No new queens.

Hyenasong delivers her kit, though it's rough and the kit's life is uncertain.

Starlingkit - black tom with amber eyes

Healthy, Moons 0

And of course he ends up being the spitting image of his medicine cat father Shadecloud. If no one else in the clan has caught on since Liontail's death, it's only a matter of time. Hopefully he doesn't become leader someday, as that would make a funny name.

Border - Galeclaw, Spottedstorm, Batpaw, Eveningeye

Medicine - Shadecloud, Brightpaw

Hunting. Neutral success. The hunt goes fine, but in eagerness to show off to his mother, Gazellepaw leads a wild goose chase when he swears he smells something strange - it turns out to be a vulture, and intrigue turns to disgust. Sunwhisier reminds Gazellepaw that he ought not be so quick to run off.

Border. Boon success. Galeclaw gains an LP when the patrol encounters Rainstar. She corrects that it's Rainheart, and Galeclaw says that a name given by the ancestors is not so easily stripped away. He calls her a disappointment. He attacks, sending her fleeing when her survival instincts kick in. Batpaw calls after her to not come back.

Later in camp, Batpaw mentions the encounter loudly to other apprentices. Duskstar overhears and tells them not to discuss Rainstar. Eveningeye slips out of camp.

Medicine. Neutral success. Shadecloud navigates Brightpaw through learning the herb stores. Brightpaw asks if it's true Shadecloud learned from a HarrowClan cat. Shadecloud says it is. Brightpaw asks if it's true HarrowClan cats didn't believe in healing warriors who failed in battle. Shadecloud bats him on the ear and calls that absurd.

When they go to tend Starlingkit, Brightpaw comments that he looks like Shadecloud. Shadecloud scoffs and ignores it.

shadowclan — year twelve — greenleaf

tigerheart returns, although he got separated from sparrowtail and birchbark and doesn't know where they are. he bears the rest of the cure, although there are numerous deaths in shadowclan as well: tawnypelt, spirepaw, flaxpaw, onionsong, gustkit, and silverkit.

lightpaw's new mentor is slatefur.

twilightpaw is apprenticed to dawnpelt.

berryheart has three kits with shadecloud: bushkit (small, silver tom with black spots), tracekit (dark tabby and white tom), and anemonekit (she-cat with yellow eyes).

(dovewing is very happy to see her husband again. he's quite upset to know pouncekit and shadowkit died when he was gone.)
