You know its stupid that Woo Jin Chul vividly remembers everything about Jin Woo by just a single touch, without having Jin Woo giving his memories to him.

Like a literal trope in romance movies about soulmates or start crossed lovers.

But Cha Hae In is endgame

okay.

This is mostly just sour thoughts about Cha Hae In not being given enough development, cuz there could have been, literally, like: Hunters guild, Jeju, Kartenon, Monarchs arc, final arc— but they never expand on her AHGGHGH—

Hunter's guild: Oh she is recognized as the strongest there? even far more than the ultimate soldier and almost as much as The chairman, she has a strong sense of smell (but you know, that is literally just to have a reason for Cha to be interested in Jin Woo... literally nothing else.) She is a swordsmaster that is connected to Song Chi Yul, her skills are so good Sung couldnt even sense her when they met?

And what do they do woth her?

Oh look she is going to save her guildmates who could have died instatly! By using a pickaxe, hahah oh how funny!

Jeju island: oh she is actually far stronger than the japanese s ranks and— welp only one, and there she goes being saved by Jin Woo again bc you know, damsel in distress is like the number one trope that Solo leveling uses it in every single chapter like its crack.

Oh but look she has defeated the Ant Queen! Only to be overshadowed, quite literally, by the fight between Sung and Beru [which i have nothing against, the very was awesome but seriously, the one time she wins and she is just thrown back again to damsel in distress COME ON!]

Kartenon: oh look the architect is judging her moves and actually saying that she might be able to go outside the system... whatever it means but it looks like she might surpass something —i even have pictures hold on.

And they do nothing with it again.

In fact they just slap that down hard and say that she is still going by the systems rules so yada yada, she gets hurt and Jin woo has to save everyone again.

Monarchs arc: Nope nope nope, literally just a date definetly couldnt have explored the situation more by you know, having Jin Woo open up about his dad passing away (which the novel did grant a little more of that) and Cha Hae In comforting him because Jin Woo sees Cha Hae In as his first friend and they definetly could have build that shit up to something more.

BUT NOPE!

Last arc: I wont even try to explain just how overly sour the ending was for me. One of the strongest girls in the series, the olympic athelete, the S rank that fought her trauma whilst facing Beru... gets turned into a housewife.

Horray.

It would bave been better if Cha Hae In seemed even the tiniest interested in being a housewife, bc i do love me some characters who can kick ass while also mainting a good homelife without the need of anyone else, but no. She wanted to be an athlete, and now she is like a mother with wife duties. Thats it, i didnt know if she quit ... eh she didnt seem to look like it so, thankfully, but like, come one that was a sudden 180.

Of all people, I want her to have had more character than anyone. Not just because she is the love interest (but that also should be added ngl) but because she is one of the few S rank women that we see in the story (and lives, sorry japan). She is also the strongest of all Korea, actively working as a hunter unlike Go Gun Hee who was at the same time a ruler's vessel. A freaking vessel! Not to mention that cha hae in was everything Jin Woo wasnt at first, it was everything he was trying to become: rich enough to afford his mother's bills, powerful, strong, brave enough to fight any monster and protect everyone he cared about. They were so different and yet the same in their own grounded way.

But yes, butcher another character why not.

I came across a compilation of animated cutscenes from the game Miraculous: Rise of Sphinx and I was extremely surprised to find a specific flashback scene with Gabriel and Nathalie in the game. you all should take a look:

this scene seems to tell us why Gabriel chose to use Butterfly Miraculous to become a villain, and what role Nathalie played in that. to be honest, I'm shocked. I would never have thought that this will be shown IN THE GAME, but NOT IN CANON.

I’ve seen some complaints that Gabriel had somehow been redeemed in the finale, and that the show was disgusting for celebrating an abuser, and like

That’s the exact opposite of what happened

Marinette made it a point to give Gabriel one last chance to take accountability and finally become a good father to Adrien. Not only did he turn her down, but he straight up attacked her and carried on with his plan, convinced of his own moral superiority the entire time

Whether or not his last act was to bring back Emilie or to try to fix the damage he caused ultimately does not matter. It has been hammered into our brains, repeatedly, that making the wish is dangerous, irresponsible, and a refusal to accept the notion of mortality AS A GROWN ASS ADULT. But whatever the inevitable consequences turn out to be — he won’t be around to experience them.

We know what a redemption arc (admittedly incomplete, but hopefully on its way to being wrapped up in S6) looks like in Miraculous, and it’s significant that this jerk managed to miss all the marks a fourteen-year-old successfully hit:

Gabriel will never have to face any legal repercussions for terrorising an entire city for a year, nor for trying to take over the world. He will never have to explain to Adrien what this cruel charade was all for. This poor child is going to break next season, and that statue is 1,000% getting cataclysmed, but it doesn’t matter. The person who hurt him isn’t there anymore. No justice can be achieved.

In other words, he did not get redeemed. He pulled a Shadow Weaver.

And your picnic with him continued normally, both of you eating together, laughing and making fun of each other.

Then, the night came. The stars showed up, and the wind was getting so strong that it swayed your dress and hair. It was a lovely scenery to look at.

You and Jinwoo were staring right into each other's eyes. You danced with Jinwoo, as he asked to do so. The music comes from his pretty lips.

His voice sings, as you dance with him slowly. Below the night sky, two people in love dance so slowly, their heartbeats can be heard as they stare into each other. Both faces contain sweet, genuine smiles.

Things were so perfect, so amazing... That he forgot. The moment that the dance finished, you smiled so sweetly, so genuinely, and then suddenly you disappeared slowly, as if the wind takes you with them.

He forgot that in the two of you, he was the only immortal. You were still a mortal, that could die any moment. What he can only do is to heal you, or turn you into one of her shadow soldiers.

But that sounds so wrong. He doesn't want you to be just a soldier for him, he doesn't want you to stand behind him, or stand in front of him to protect him. No, he wants you to stand on his side and hold hands with you before charging into the battlefield.

Right... Today is your death anniversary. That must be why he hallucinates again, why he imagines you alive and well again.

He looked at the tree behind him, where your grave lies. It was your wish, to be buried under that exact tree. Which is placed to the location where you and Jinwoo first had your date. And to where it all started.

And this, is the burden of being immortal. They will always be left alone.

But that's alright, he will find you in the future, maybe you will get reincarnated... He will find you, he definitely will.

It will always be extremely hilarious to me that French fans (and French-speaking fans) of Miraculous had it basically told to them at the start of the show that Gabriel was Hawkmoth/le Papillon. Why? Because “Agreste” is the French name for a Grayling Butterfly. Pretty much all of the characters’ last names (and some first names) have a tie to an important aspect of their character (Chloe Bourgeois being a glaringly obvious one), and them having one of the main leads (and thus his father) have a name of a butterfly is just too funny to me.

“A mysterious butterfly supervillain has appeared! Who could he possibly be??”

“Uh… maybe the guy literally named after a butterfly?”

S rank healer Y/N who is a false ranker (chose B rank) because Y/N never wanted to be a hunter but was force to by Y/N's parents. Along the way Y/N met and befriended Jinwoo who often got into a lot of injuries (basically Juhee but with a twist of Y/N learning early on Jinwoo is an S rank and also more exploration false rankers :D)

Y/N is a C rank who can see the future (past timelines from the cup of Reincarnation) and meets Jinwoo to warn him about the power of the Shadow Monarch since Y/N has seen it before in other people's hands it always ends up bad.

Y/N who is a Dragon Priest and fully devoted to Antares to the point where it will create one problem after another just so that the war is lengthened and Jinwoo doesn't kill the Dragon Emperor.

Y/N who is a B rank and a scientist learning all about mana and the evolution of awakened people.

Y/N shadow elf who Jinwoo rose in the red gate arc.

Y/N who is an A rank hunter that actually does pretty mundane stuff despite having a terraforming skill.

Y/N D rank with a shape-shifting passive skill, can transform into anything that is just as powerful or less as a D rank, although it can cost them a lot of mental damage.

Y/N with a beast taming skill finding out they are the Beast Monarch and its the reason why so many monsters have been friendly with Y/N.

Y/N S rank who is friends with Juhee, both are studying for their degree.

Y/N who is the new member of the Yoo Conglomerate and has a good relationship with Yoo Jinho.

Y/N S rank who works directly under Woo Jin-Chul and tends to be really hyperactive.

I'm not sure if anybody pointed this out already because I haven't been lurking in the ML fandom enough to keep up with discussions but I was just thinking about Gabriel and his villain design throughout the seasons (you know, as one does) and I've noticed how good of a visual parallelism his appearance as a villain has been to how he slowly but steadily lost his way as time went on.

I mean.

The more time passed, the less recognizable he became, didn't he?

In the first design, between the true colour of his skin showing and his face structure still clear and somewhat recognizable (recognizable enough that when the first season was airing and we didn't know his identity most of the fandom was sure that he was Gabriel Agreste) he's still undeniably Gabriel, even under the mask. He's evil and he's basically a terrorist, yes, but he's still doing what he's doing for his family. Kind of. His treatment of Adrien, in this stage, is still somewhat abusive in many aspects but he has some Moments (those rare Good Father Moments™ that he mentioned in the finale).

In the second stage, he's still himself, and nothing much changed beyond the monocle and the edgier suit. Sure, he gives off the impression that maybe he might not be doing all of that just for his wife, but he's sane enough and he still seems to care a bit for Adrien (as long as he doesn't know he's his arch nemesis, superhero of Paris and notorious pain in the neck Chat Noir).

The third stage is brief, and starts right after he steals all the Miraculous from Ladybug. It's obvious at this point that a) he's a lot more ambitious, and also more desperate, and b) he definitely isn't doing this for his wife, and surely not for his son. His skin is inhuman, and his eyes look uncanny; you can still see his grey hair, though, in the same hairstyle he keeps it in as a civilian. He's still there, for now!

However, the interesting part of this is that his design immediately changes at one specific point in the series: when he decides to run after Ladybug instead of using the Rabbit Miraculous to fix his mistakes in a easy, casualty-free way.

At this point, it's obvious that the thought of the wish consumed him so much that he's become obsessed with it. He decided to put it above Natalie's life, above Adrien's freedom and wellbeing. While he never dared to akumatize his own son before, to the point of retracting his butterfly as soon as he noticed that it was Adrien who was upset, and not just some random civilian, from this moment on it stops being his concern. He's ready to do whatever it takes to have his way, no matter the cost. He stops being Gabriel. Now, he's just Monarch.

So, apparently, an adult supervillain whose been terrorizing a city for years, rarely actually shows remorse for his actions and is also a neglectful and controlling parent because of the “death” of his wife is “sympathetic” and “redeemable”

but a teenage girl whose a bully because she has an abusive mother who constantly belittled her and can’t even remember her own name that she so desperately wants the approval of and a father who just spoils her to death, who showed remorse for her actions at times and was actually on the road to changing and becoming a better person after becoming a superhero before it was taken all away from her at the last second is “irredeemable” and “absolutely evil”.
