Hi :) I wondered if I could ask something without a meme? because I love getting to know peoples ocs and well, celebration days are coming up I wondered; If your ocs were companions in origins, what kind of gift (like the gold bars for zev etc.) would raise their approval?

I am always up for answering whatever random OC questions, memes or no memes. I should probably start talking about my other OCs more too so thank you for the general question

Now, here is a Christmas shopping list for everyone:

Adam Trevelyan: Horse and dragon figures, crystallized fossils, armor polish and blade oil, exciting adventure books, things that are actually for his horse

Shaelyn Lavellan: Herbalism supplies, frilly little cakes, enchanted jewelry 

Thergwen Cousland: Mabari-related items (including gifts for her mabari), whetstones, weapon and armor runes, really nice steaks and, totally non-suspiciously, anything related to werewolves

Jarath Mahariel: Sweets, honeyed fruits, fancy ornate scabbards for his knives, trap-making supplies, remedies for the occasional itching powder mishap

6. Attitude towards the Qun?

Most of them don't know enough about the Qun to hold a strong opinion, and for the most part, it's based on interactions with specific Qunari:

Ana respects Sten, so she respects the Qunari and their culture.

Alwyn still remembers the Qunari's rampage through Kirkwall so he holds an overall negative opinion of them.

My Adaar girls only know the Qun through their parents who fled from it so their opinion is a bit more nuanced. They know that although there would have been no life for them under the Qun, not everything about it is inherently bad.

15. Preferred weapon of choice?

Apart from Ana who switched to swords (Vigilance, my beloved), my mages favour staves (can't wait for DATV to get more options).

Mahariel and Cousland are bow-and-arrow people.

Tabris dual-wields daggers.

Issala... She just likes to make things go boom ^^

I mean, maybe it wouldn't work (I clearly don't know the details >>) but couldn't that Hawke be Carver? You could "kill" the big sibling and keep Carver to romance Merrill with and Bethany for Mahariel? I don't know if breaking the canon like that would be okay with you tho :3

The whole story is that Hawke fails to save Merrill’s clan and Mahariel goes after him as a result. That ultimately drives a wedge between her and Bethany.

and, oh, interesting to have them meet at Kirkwall! Mine meet all during the events of dao! I wanted them to be the "Heroes of Ferelden" and stuff, even if most of it is legend and propagando, Tabris doesn't even stick around to pretend he even liked being a warden. :'D tho, well, I guess technically its a bit of a cheat to presume they all survived the joining. >> but the awakening crew did too!! uu so I'm allowing myself!!

I think that since they all survive the joining in DAO, it’s safe to assume they would survive under any circumstances ^^

If I remember correctly, my story started with Cousland, Aeducan and Tabris as mercenaries in Kirkwall. Cousland had crossed the Waking Sea to escape from Howe, Aeducan had survived thanks to the Legion of the Dead, and Tabris had escaped from the slavers who had kidnapped her during Unrest in the Alienage. Then they would meet the others through a series of events. Surana or Amell would have been a tranquil in the Gallows that they would have rescued during the Kirkwall uprising. Mahariel would have been the Hero of Ferelden since it’s pretty much impossible for them to survive their origin without the joining. Brosca would have joined the Legion of the Dead and might even have become a warden along with Sigrun? Surana/Amell (whichever I hadn’t used before) would have escaped Aeonar and would possibly be an abomination.

Hey! Random OCs question, if you don't mind it. If your character was a deity, what would they be a god/dess of?

I don’t mind at all. It’s actually a very good question so thanks for asking :)

Now, let’s see 🤔

Ana would be the goddess of loyalty. She never gives up on her friends, especially in times of need. She’s always ride or die for them.

Alwyn would be the god of grief. The poor man lost his entire family and it’s really weighing down on him 😥

Violette would be the goddess of fertility. Between being a mother and being a herbalist, I think it would fit nicely.

Elle would be the goddess of redemption and forgiveness. Revenge didn’t bring her any peace, but giving people a second chance did.

Daylen would be the god of abandonment. He does run away from his responsibilities a lot.

Lyn would be the goddess of revenge. Killing people who wronged her or her family is kind of her thing.

And I can’t really think of anything for the others atm since they’re not as developped yet ^^

@kiraia​ pointed out (rightfully so) that I made quite a few vague posts about my OCs, but that I’ve never properly introduced them. It’s true, mostly because I tend to wait until they are well developed to properly do anything with them, which doesn’t happen all that often. So consider this a formal introduction to my current OCs :)

(Under a cut because there are quite a bunch of them. I hope it works on mobile, because otherwise yikes! I’m very sorry.)

Sad Mages Worldstate

It’s probably the one I talk about the most. It’s the most developed worldstate, with the most developed OCs and I’ve written a lot of fics about them.

The Warden: Ana Surana [Tag | Complete bio | Fanfictions]

pairings: Ana x Daylen Amell (friends with benefits), Ana x Alistair (DAO romance), Ana x Carver (current pairing, now married) + I occasionally throw Isabela into the mix because reasons.

Born in the Gallows and taken to an orphanage in Highever until her magic manifested.

Grew up close to Anders, Jowan, Amell and (to a lesser extent) Finn.

Had a baby that she was forced to give to the Chantry.

Main DAO choices include: romancing Alistair, getting her heart broken after making him king, stupidly refusing to do Morrigan’s ritual and watching him sacrifice his life for her.

Later she starts dating Carver (whom she actually met at Ostagar where they had a brief fling before the Battle).

Takes part in the Mage Underground and helps Anders build his bomb.

Starts hearing the Calling shortly before DAI.

Is Hawke’s contact during HLtA.

The Champion: Alwyn Hawke [Tag | Complete bio | Fanfictions]

pairings: Alwyn x Anders (DA2 romance, on and off), Alwyn x Cullen (one time), Alwyn x Rylen (post DAI, considering making them endgame, not sure yet).

Purple Hawke.

Carver becomes a warden.

Supports the mages.

Develops a close friendship with Ana.

Breaks up with Anders after the Chantry explosion, wishing he’d trusted him enough to share his plan with him. They do get back together later on.

Is the first one to learn about Ana hearing the Calling.

Stays behind in the Fade during HLtA, but eventually finds a way out.

He was found by Inquisition scouts in the Western Approach, suffering from amnesia.

Later falls in love with Rylen.

pairings: Violette x Orsino (once twice), Violette x Samson (current partner).

Ana’s mum.

Orlesian who grew up in Ferelden during the occupation.

Was taken to the Gallows at age 13.

Was a close friend of Malcolm Hawke.

Had her baby (Ana) taken by the Chantry. Later escaped.

Hates the Chantry.

Attends the Conclave in the hopes that Ana might be there.

Starts sleeping with Samson after his capture because he basically said fuck the Chantry to her face and it turned her on.

Hardened Leliana becomes Divine.

Other OC: Neriah Amell-Hawke

Is Ana’s daughter. She got her out of the orphanage after the Blight (thanks, Leliana).

Her father is Daylen Amell. Carver adopted her when he married her mama.

Is 18 as of Trespasser.

Second Chances Worldstate

This one started off as an AU for a fic starring Ana and Alistair which is why these two worldstates are so similar. The point of divergence is that Jowan went to Amell for help instead of Ana for some reason.

The Warden: Daylen Amell [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Day x Ana (friends with benefits), Day x Morrigan (DAO romance and while I did consider for a while not having him follow her through the eluvian, I changed my mind. There’s too much growth potential.)

His father was Maurevar Carver, because I say so.

Main DAO choices include: Sparing Loghain, Alistair becoming a drunk, not doing Morrigan’s ritual because he can just throw Loghain at the Archdemon (which he did).

Helps Ana get their daughter out of the Kirkwall orphanage. Bails on them right afterwards.

Does follow Morrigan through the eluvian and actually ends up being a decent dad to Kieran.

Does not become Ferelden’s Warden-Commander.

The Champion: Alwyn Hawke (yes, again)

Like I said, this was originally an AU, so it made sense to keep the same Hawke. There are quite a few differences, however.

pairings: none.

Does not bring Anders to the Deep Roads. Carver dies.

Suffers from severe depression afterwards.

Goes from purple to full blue after Leandra’s death.

Stays behind in the Fade. Probably won’t make it out in this worldstate.

The Inquisitor: Asaara Adaar [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Asaara x Cullen (starts before DAI, now married).

Meets Cullen shortly before the Chantry explosion. They fall in love.

Not going into too much details because it will be part of Second Chances’ main story.

Again, can’t go into too much detail because spoilers.

pairings: Ana x Carver (before the Deep Roads expedition anyway), Ana x Alistair.

Day brings Ana to Kirkwall shortly after the Blight to meet their daughter. She ends up staying after they get Neriah out of the orphanage.

Single mom. Works as a waitress.

They find drunk Alistair in their garbage. Ana wants to help him get better.

Other OC: Issala Adaar [Tag]

pairings: Issala x Varric (post-DAI).

Is Asaara’s overexcited little sister.

Likes to tinker with explosives.

Built a handheld cannon. It’s clunky, not very accurate and is prone to misfire. In other words, it still needs a lot of work.

Varric thinks she’s adorable so he made her his personal bodyguard.

Angry Dalish Worldstate

The Warden: Shaelyn Mahariel [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Lyn x Tamlen (Origin), Lyn x Bethany, (considering Lyn x Alistair between DA2 and DAI but even that might be too cruel.)

Doesn’t want to be a warden.

DAO choices include: Alistair remaining with the wardens because he doesn’t want to be king.

No in-game romance, she was too heartbroken after losing Tamlen.

Eventually starts dating Bethany.

Travels to the Free Marches after the death of her clan to kill the man responsible.

Almost dies in the resulting fight against Hawke (thank the Creators Anders was there).

Goes home and confesses to Bethany that she almost killed her brother and that she would have done it had he not been so badass. They break up.

The two of them reconcile post-DAI, after Hawke and Merrill’s wedding.

The Champion: Kris Hawke [Tag]

pairings: Kris x Merrill (now married).

Blue Hawke.

Sadly couldn’t save Merrill’s clan.

Didn’t want to hurt Lyn that badly during their fight, he was just defending himself. Deeply regrets it afterwards.

The Inquisitor: no one specific yet, but likely a Lavellan romancing Solas.

Alistair stays behind in the Fade.

Elves in Luuuuv Worldstate

The Warden: Kallian Tabris [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Tabs x Alistair (DAO romance)

Probably the most canon-compliant OC.

Main DAO choices include: making Alistair king with Anora as queen and becoming his mistress.

Madly in love.

Will have a happy ending.

No Hawke or Inquisitor yet.

Homecoming Worldstate

The Warden: Elaine Cousland [Tag]

pairings: Elle x Nathaniel (pre-DAO, now ex-husband), Elle x Leliana (DAO romance), Elle x Sebastian (current).

Was BFF with Anora during their childhood.

Actually met Sebastian before he was sent to the Chantry. The two of them had similar lifestyles back then, so when Elle visited Starkhaven with her father, the two of them developed a rivalry of sorts in their romantic pursuits (think Merteuil and Valmont, but a lot more light-hearted). They do spend one night together after learning that he is going to be sent to the Chantry.

Eventually fell in love and married Nate. They kept their relationship a secret, however. They divorced after the Blight.

Main DAO choices include: romancing Leliana, making Alistair king with Anora as queen, sparing Loghain and performing the ritual.

Her relationship with Leliana didn’t survive the distance.

Leaves the Wardens after the Chantry explosion and basically goes on the run from everyone because she feels responsible for what happened.

Helps Sebastian reclaim his throne. They fall in love. (I’m currently writing a fic about this, actually)

Still unsure about her DAI fate. Either she replaces Hawke in HLtA and stays behind in the Fade, or she becomes Inquisitor.

The Champion: Violetta Hawke [Tag | Fanfictions]

pairings: Letta x Isabela (DA2 romance).

Yes, she was totally named after Violette.

Is Kris’ sister.

Carver becomes a Templar.

Spared Anders.

Sails into the sunset with Isabela.

DAI fate will depend on what I decide to do with Elle.

The Inquisitor: no one yet.

Loghain survives HLtA.

I am considering having Neriah (yes, again) be the Herald with someone else as Inquisitor since she’s only a kid. In this worldstate, she grew up in Kirkwall’s orphanage before being taken to the Gallows. She escapes the massacre and Carver eventually takes her under his wing.

I'm planning to have two additional worldstates (I want one per warden origin). One called "Happy Dwarves" with a male Brosca romancing Zevran and one called "Dead Heroes" with a male Aeducan romancing Leliana (and probably Alwyn again, idk). I also have a couple of Cadashes that I want to put somewhere, a woman romancing Josie and a man romancing Divine Cassandra. Idk yet if they'll be Inquisitors or if I'll just add them to one of the existing worldstates. Odds are one will be Inquisitor while the other just tags along.

I probably missed a few things here and there, but that’s basically the gist of it. Thanks to anyone who actually stuck to the end, lmao.

They pick a quiet spot under a willow tree along the Hafter River. The water sparkles under the sun as if someone threw a thousand diamonds into it. The magnificent picture reminds Bethany of those morning fishing trips she would take with her brothers. She remembers Carver pushing her into the river once. Mother was furious when they all came home soaking wet, but they had a lot of fun that day. She misses it sometimes.

Bethany spreads the blanket over the grass. She feels like the protagonist of one of those cheesy romance novels she loves so much. It’s the most normal thing she has done in ages, if ever. Lyn takes her boots off and sits down beside her, eyes closed in serenity, a gentle breeze sweeping through her hair. Bethany watches as she wiggles her toes happily. A blush spreads on her cheeks at the sight of her friend’s long, toned legs. It suddenly occurs to her just how much shorter Dalish skirts are from what she is used to wearing herself. It falls inches above the knee and slides a little further up her thighs every time she moves.

“You’re very quiet all of a sudden. Is everything all right, Bethany?”

“Yes, I- err…” She needs an excuse. She can’t tell her she’s been staring at her like some drooling pervert. “I was just enjoying the view,” she sputters before noticing with horror the double meaning behind her words.

“It is quite beautiful, isn’t it?” Mahariel’s eyes, now open, are fixed on the landscape in front of them.

“Very beautiful,” Bethany whispers, still unable to look away from Lyn.

“We camped near a place like this once with my clan.” A warm smile spreads across the elf’s face. “My friends and I would go skinny dipping sometimes during the night.”

Oh, my…

“Are you really all right, Bethany?” Lyn is now looking at her, her eyebrows drawn together in a concerned frown. “We can head back if you’re feeling sick.”

“I’m fine. I’m just a little nervous,” she stammers, finally looking away from Lyn as she desperately tries to avoid making eye contact.

“I’m nervous too, you know.”

“It’s just… I’ve never been on a date before.”

Lyn’s gentle hand comes to rest on Bethany’s shoulder. “It’s been a long time since my last romantic escapade.” There is a sadness in her voice, a small crack in her smile. It disappears so fast Bethany thinks she might have imagined it. “And I’ve never been with a… I’ve never been with a human before. I’m not really sure what to do, what is or isn’t culturally appropriate.”

“My people have been oppressing yours for centuries. I should be the one to worry about messing up. I don’t want to be disrespectful of you, your culture, your history…”

“Can I kiss you?” Lyn asks softly, her eyes shining with tenderness.

The question takes Bethany by surprise. For a few seconds, she doesn’t know how to react. Heroes in novels don’t ask, they just do. But her hesitation only lasts a moment before she boldly nods her consent. Cupping her face between her hands, Lyn leans her head closer to hers. Their lips meet, warm and soft, with a smile on both their faces. The feeling is incredible. Like fire spiraling through her body. Bethany’s heart races in her chest, jumping faster with each touch. She moves her hand behind Lyn’s neck, fingers tangling in the long chestnut hair of the elven woman, and kisses her back. Her technique is a little messy, she can tell. After all, she’s never kissed anyone before. Not like this. But she can’t think of anyone else she’d rather share that moment with.

The Reason

Read on AO3 summary: bethany hawke has a hard time adjusting to her new life as a grey warden. mahariel tries to comfort her and ends up confessing her true feelings to the young mage. (written for @ladies-of-thedas week 2018) word count: 2201. pairing: bethany hawke x female mahariel. rating: t for light angst. warnings: some self-doubt, mention of a broodmother and vomit.

The fight had been long and painful. They had fought waves after waves of darkspawn. Shrieks, for the most part. And then… That thing… That creature… A broodmother, Nathaniel had called it. Bethany had fought ogres before, but that had been worse. The broodmother had been stronger. She had attacked them from all sides with her long tentacles coming out of the ground, and a seemingly endless army of darkspawn at her disposal. She had grabbed and killed two of her fellow grey wardens – good men who had travelled to Ferelden with her not too long ago – before the Warden-Commander managed to take that monster down.

Bethany braced herself against the intricate carvings on the wall of an ancient dwarven building. Not far away, she could hear Warden-Commander Mahariel barking orders at her men. Well, mostly at Oghren who was already passed out drunk in a corner, snoring like a bronto. They had set up camp in an old abandoned thaig for the night. Was it actually night, though? How could one tell time in those wretched caves?

“Are you alright, Bethany?” The Warden-Commander was now standing next to her, but her voice seemed to echo through the entire place.

Bethany turned her bleached face towards her commanding officer and acquiesced a little too fast. She tried to put on a brave face, but she was almost as pale as that cursed day when she had caught the Blight in the Deep Roads. Anyone could see right through her non-existent mask.
