Unpopular Opinion: MCU version
I like the Thor and Loki of pre-Ragnarock characterizations better than Ragnarock and beyond. (Loki of TV series Loki is on thin ice).
There are two wolves inside me: one wolf is happy that Shangchi and the 10 rings portrayed a healthy and loving friendship between a man and a woman without adding sexual tension and the usual tropes associated with ♂ x ♀ romances. The other wolf ships Shaun x Katy even more as a romantic couple purely because of this reason.
T’challa x Nebula is a cute ship thanks to What If?
Fast & Furious x Guardians of the Galaxy Crossover when?

From the Ashes of Secrets - Chapter 1
Shang-Chi spoilers!
Katy didn’t love Shaun. Not romantically, anyway. But Shangqi?
Yeah. She loves Shangqi.
Shangqi/Katy ~ 1k ~ AO3 ~ Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Katy didn’t fall in love with Shaun.
Oh, he was cute, don’t get her wrong. The dorky, lonely boy she grew up with, who tried to hide how somber and broody he got sometimes, who went out and sang karaoke with her until way too late at night. He had brightened her life from the moment he had very confusedly thanked her for jumping in front of that bully, from the first time he had screamed at her to slow down because it wasn’t their car, and she had never regretted barreling into his life for a moment.
Despite that, though, the simple fact remained that he was hiding from her.
She knew it wasn’t anything personal – she saw that look in his eye when the conversation steered too close to his past, that weight that settled over him that he tried to pretend he wasn’t carrying. Whatever had gone down in his life before they met, it was dark, and he didn’t want to talk about it, and she could understand that.
But she couldn’t fall in love with that.
He was her best friend, no doubt about that. She would do anything for him. She trusted him. He was part of her family. And she couldn’t – wouldn’t – imagine life without him. But if he couldn’t give all of himself to her, then she wouldn’t give that one last part of herself to him.
So they were best friends, and it was amazing. They worked together, played together, ate together, complained together, did stupid stuff together, went through every day together. They were inseparable, and she loved their life, and she wouldn’t change a thing.
Until that day on the bus.
Until suddenly he was fighting like he’d been doing it all his life, because apparently he had been, and, oh yeah, his name wasn’t actually Shaun. Until suddenly he was telling her that his dad was an ancient warlord, that his own family was trying to kill him, that he had been trained and raised to be an assassin, and that he had to drop everything and run off to protect the sister she’d never known he had, and suddenly, she was agreeing to go do that with him.
And things only got crazier from there.
She learned all about the weight that lonely boy carried. She learned about the mother he lost, about the sister he abandoned, about the man he killed, about all the pain his father inflicted in the name of revenge. She learned about everything he had never wanted to tell her, everything that had built that one last wall that still stood between them.
And the bombshells kept coming.
Together, they learned that magic was real. Well, duh, it always had been, because the Avengers were a thing, but like, now it was in their lives, which was totally different. His mother was from another dimension that wasn’t a fairytale, and it was full of beauty and wonder, and they met his aunt for the first time, who was apparently a kickass Airbender lady, and also, soul-sucking monsters and dragons were real, and they fought the monsters with a dragon and won, and in doing so, lost every last shred of naivety they’d had left and discovered parts of themselves that had long been buried by that comfortable, secret-cushioned life back in San Francisco.
When she limped out of the ashes of her first battle, when he came running to her from the back of the dragon that had saved his life, they were different people. When they hugged, when they dove into each other’s arms and didn’t let go, it was a goodbye to their old selves as much as it was a reunion with each other.
They were adults now. She was an archer. He was a superhero.
Together, they saved the world.
Together, they learned who they really were.
And that was when she started falling in love.
He still had her best friend’s smile, her best friend’s laugh. He still sang karaoke with her. He still screamed at her to slow down when she drove too fast. He was still everything that had become familiar and beloved during their decade together, everything that had cheered her up on the worst days, everything that the best days would’ve been empty without. He was still everything she remembered from before their lives changed forever.
But now he showed her all his scars, holding her with calloused hands. Now he told her all the stories he had hidden, stories of joy and love, stories of pain and sorrow. When the conversations steered towards his past, when she saw the weight in his eyes, she reached for him now, and he trusted her to hold him, trusted her to share that weight. And in return, when her own newfound pain came for her, when she missed the simple days or woke screaming with Guang Bo’s death burned into her memory, he was at her side, helping her through it, comforting her in all the ways that had been impossible when he had kept that wall between them.
It was on one of those nights – well, more like the morning after one of those nights – that she said it for the first time.
They lay curled up in each other’s arms, drifting awake as morning sunlight slanted through the windows to coat them in a soft golden glow. His heart beat beneath her hand, his bruised chest and her scraped knuckles stark reminders of the struggle that had filled the day before and stalked their dreams that night, but with his warmth and quiet strength wrapped around her, she felt safer than anywhere else in the world.
Yeah, it was sappy and cliché, but it was true.
And it was all possible because he had learned to trust her as much as she trusted him.
How could she not love that?
How could she not love him?
“Hey.” He smiled at her, sleepy and reassuring, taking her hand into his, twining their fingers together over his heart. “Feeling better?”
In response, she leaned over and kissed him, whispering those words against his lips.
“I love you, Shangqi.”

Perils of a Superhero’s Girlfriend: Farmer’s Markets and Car Crashes
A/N: So, I’ve decided to make a series inspired by My Boyfriend’s Back and my love of Perils of Penelope Pitstop. So expect more of these somewhere down the line! Also, reader is a Hispanic!Reader. Just felt like making it specific, thought it’d be fun.
Pairings: Shang-Chi x Hispanic!Reader
Warnings: fighting, car crash, sexual themes/allusion to/talk of/implied sex, swearing, lots and lots of swearing.
Summary:  Shangqi’s efforts to impress Wong seem to be going suspiciously well, until he gets a call from you.
Tumblr media
Humming to yourself, you hurried over from one side of the outdoor market to the other, determined to find everything you needed to prepare a very special recipe for your special someone. After you had been kidnapped by a couple of his father’s old enemies, for reasons you weren’t quite sure of, Shangqi had been a little, how can I put this…?
Paranoid.
“Katy, he’s doing it again,” You had whispered to her one afternoon as you both watched your boyfriend walk ahead of the both of you towards the parking lot where your car was waiting after work.
“What, walking?” Katy said, “That happens sometimes.”
“No, no, not that,” you said quickly and pointed. “Look. He’s looking under the car, checking the back. He’s walking ahead of us in case of an attack. You guys have picked me up from work every day since, and I know you’re switching shifts to do it.”
Katy shrugged her shoulders, “Okay. Look. What can I say? Dude loves you and he thinks, maybe, I don’t know, you’ll get kidnapped again.”
“Cool. Why?”
“You’re an adorable schoolteacher and your boyfriend is a superhero. Who wouldn’t kidnap you? Hell, I would kidnap you to get back at him for being so precious in the eyes of my family. I mean, nothing personal. It’s just business, really.”
“What the fuck, Katy?”
Katy threw her arms up in the air shouting that, ‘that’s just how shit be sometimes.’ You sighed and shook your head, opting to just let this conversation go and hope that Shangqi would eventually let his paranoia rest.
Eventually, it did. He was back to taking normal shifts a few weeks later and he wasn’t following you around for every little thing. In fact, he even went on a mission! It was a small mission, where he and Katy went up to Oregon on behalf of Wong and retrieved an old locket that he told them was enchanted with something or other, and you were horribly alone and vulnerable, and it was fantastic. Nothing happened to you, and nothing happened to him.
Which brings us to the now. Shangqi and Katy were coming back from a second mission a little closer to home, and you decided you were going to surprise him with a home-cooked meal. Classes ended early today, you completely zoned out of your mandatory conferences and thought about the hot boyfriend coming home to you later, and ran out as soon as you could to several different markets to get the ingredients you needed to make a dish from your culture.
After paying for the last thing you needed, you went off to the side and filled your backpack with your purchases and set off to your car. Okay, a little out of the way for ingredients, but it was all going to be worth it.
On your drive home everything lined up perfectly. You had all the lights, no stupid kid ran in front of your car to give you a heart attack, and you might even find a parking spot with this good luck you were having. However, this changed when you were waiting at one rare light you didn’t manage to slip through. Leaning against the window, you watched your rearview mirror to see a black truck slowly pulling up a little too close to you.
Huh. Rude.
Once the light changed you hit the gas and thought nothing of the truck until you realized it was following you. You took several extra turns and noticed that he still followed you no matter what direction that you took. Frowning, you put your phone on speaker and placed a call.
“Hey, good lookin’,” Shangqi purred when he answered the phone. “Good news, beautiful. Those guys we were after? Fled town! No trace of them. Wong said we can head back, so I’ll be there much, much earlier. But don’t worry, I can totally, totally wait to see your surprise…or feel your surprise?”
“First of all, wow, could you be any hornier right now?!” You shrieked.
“Well, sorry. Didn’t think you’d get mad.”
“Oh, no, I’m not mad!” You laughed nervously and looked behind you once more. “I’m being followed.”
“You WHAT!?” He shouted and took a deep breath. “Okay, this is fine. Are you walking or driving? What’s going on?”
“I was driving home after the stupid freaking outdoor market and I realized this black truck was following me after awhile. And I don’t know who he is or what he wants but I have a feeling it’s not my recipe for pastelon.”
“Aw,” he cooed. “You were going to make me pastelon? That’s so sweet. Is it because when your mom made it for Christmas I almost ate the entire thing?”
“Yes, but so not the point right now. What do I do!?”
“Right, sorry. Okay. Is it just the one car following you and is there any identifiers on it?”
“Uh,” You looked through the rear-view quickly to get a look at the driver. All you noticed was that he had obnoxiously large finger rings. “He just looks like a douchebag wearing giant rings on every finger.”
“Are they letters?”
“Yes? Maybe? They’re huge but it’s kind of hard to see. I think one’s an L? I don’t have supervision or whatever, so you can’t ask me what it spells.”
“I can guess. I think those are our guys,” Shangqi glanced at Katy who groaned and went to grab the rental car keys, muttering that she should’ve placed money on something bad happening again. “Katy and I are heading towards you.”
“But what do I do?” You asked quickly. “I—I keep driving? Do I ditch the car and run on foot?”
“No, no, your car is your leverage just—just stay in there, keep driving. Don’t speed up or anything. If he suspects something is wrong, they’ll make a move on you,” Shangqi glanced over to Katy who was holding her phone up in his face and showing how long the calculated route was to get to you. He swore under his breath.
“What? What is it?”
“Nothing, babe, nothing,” He said quickly. “Shit, I should’t have left you alone.”
“I can’t be coddled forever,” you told him, “We have our own lives.”
“We have our own life together, though,” He argued. “And what if you—“
“Oh, do not pose the idea of something happening to me while I’m driving for my life right now,” you laughed nervously and waited at a stop sign, looking both ways and refusing to move just yet. “Okay, I’m near the um, what is it, that old roller rink place — “
“Dude, the one that they never finished rebuilding?” You heard Katy shouting, now realizing the call was on speaker. “I hate them for that. That shit was my jam. Have we done their emo night yet?”
“No, Katy, we have not done their emo night on wheels yet,” Shangqi sighed. “Is now the time for that?”
“What? Your girlfriend literally called you in a panic and all you could think about was putting your dick in her, but my emo night thing was wrong? Bro.”
Listen. You loved Katy so very much, and you adored Shangqi, but there really were moments where you wanted to take the two of them by the backs of their skulls and slam their heads into each other. As funny and charming as they could be, they were, right now, kind of the absolute worst.
Suddenly they heard you screaming. The car behind you slammed into the back of your car and started pushing you into the intersection. Your hands and feet froze as you tried to figure out what to do. Seeing something on your left, you realized that another truck was speeding towards you from the left, and together the two of them were going to pin you somewhere.
Shocking yourself with quick thinking, you slammed on the gas and sped forward, narrowly missing the brunt of the force of the opposing truck, but starting to spin out of control. Shangqi and Katy could do nothing but listen helplessly to your screams and the crunching of various car parts.
Katy, in an act of desperation, pulled the car over and ignored Shangqi’s protests as she quickly selected a name from her contact list and brought the phone to her ear.
~*~
When the car finally came to a stop, the right side of it slamming and wrapping around a fire hydrant, you sat there for a moment shaking like a leaf, hands white-knuckling the steering wheel until you could finally hear your brain screaming at you that you needed to run. You quickly and frantically pushed down the airbags and unbuckled your seatbelt. Looking over your shoulder, you saw the trucks had parked near you and there were several men exiting them with the intent of getting to you.
Your door was stuck and you couldn’t move it. You let out a cry of frustrating before going to your backpack to look for anything to help you, ignoring the sound of Shangqi calling out to you, not on purpose, but because you couldn’t afford to be distracted for even a second.
Finding nothing, you kicked the windshield a few times and found that it gave out with ease. Climbing through the windshield, your hands were marred with cuts and you were sure you were going to find chunks of it later stuck over your body. With adrenaline coursing through you, you slid off the car and ran to the first building you could: the abandoned roller rink.
You pushed the plywood blocking the door, your bloody handprint smearing across it as you slipped inside and went running for a hiding spot. You dove behind the front desk and pressed your back against the counter as you took a moment to catch your breath and tried to figure out your next action. Shangqi was hours away, your car was totaled and — god damn it. Now you were pretty certain your bag full of ingredients was destroyed, and now you were at peak level of upset, because you had purchased the last bushel of culantro. Did these men know how annoying that could be to find in some neighborhoods—you know what? Wasn’t the time to think about that right now.
You realized you were near a backdoor, and that was perfect. You could slip through that door and make a run for it and they would still think you were in the building. Slowly but surely you stood up and crept to the door. You twisted the doorknob, realized it wasn’t budging, and swore to yourself. You needed to make this quick given how loud this was going to be. Standing upright, you grabbed the knob with both hands twisted, and threw your shoulder into it.
When you stumbled into the alley you took two steps to run and realized that two men had been waiting there for you. Almost laughing to yourself in frustration you screeched and ran back inside trying to figure out a quick way to get the hell out of there.  Once you were inside, you realized there were three more men waiting for you. Between the now blocked backdoor and this, you felt fucked in the worst way.
Okay. What would Shangqi do?
You jumped over the counter, ducked a hand going for your shoulder, and leapt over the railing for the rink. Turning around, you hurried backwards as you watched five men now come towards you, smirks on their faces as they realized they had you trapped in the building, and there was nothing and no one around to help you.
“Okay,” You muttered to yourself. “I got this. I got this. I got…” You felt around yourself for anything useful. A pack of gum in your pocket, and your jacket. “Shit.”
With so little on your person, you took off your jacket, held the sleeves, rolled up the center of the jacket, then put both sleeves in one hand, hoping this makeshift-jacket flail would do something.
Well, it certainly got a laugh out of them as they saw how pathetic this looked. To be fair, if you weren’t in this situation, you might actually giggle about the jacket flail as well. However, this royally sucked.
As they approached, you threw your jacket in one of their faces, dove forward, and tackled one to the ground. Might as well get it over with, right? As you were hitting his face repeatedly you felt arms grabbing you and yanking you off of him. You kicked your legs in every direction and managed to hit one of them in the jaw, which, did not make him happy. Before you could kick him again, your leg was grabbed, but you started to notice golden sparks from the corner of your eye.
Suddenly you heard a loud cracking noise. You felt yourself falling backwards and hit the ground with a thud. Looking up, Katy was standing over you protectively swinging a bat, while Shangqi, fresh out the portal Wong had opened for them, was sneaking up on these men and smashing their heads together. Aw, kind of like you wanted to do to him and Katy earlier.
“Up you go, favorite teacher ever,” Katy said as she grabbed your hand and pulled you up. She cringed on the blood that was now on her hand, “Oh, ew. That’s not sanitary.”
“Sorry,” You apologized quickly, “How the—was that—“
“Wong totally owed me a favor,” Katy grinned. “I was gonna release a video of him puking at karaoke. He didn’t want to take the chance of it going viral. So worth it.”
“Katy, you’re fucked up, but you’re the best,” You breathed a sigh of relief and hugged her tightly.
“Oh, dude, love you too,” She grinned and returned the hug, “Should we help your boyfriend?”
“He’s fine.”
And he was. Men being sexist and really only wanting to get to Shangqi, they turned all their attention to him and all attacked him at once. When Shangqi was about to land the final blow on the guy, you surged forward and landed a clean punch on the man’s jaw and knocked him to the ground. Shangqi’s fist was frozen in mid-air as he stared at you both shocked and a little turned on.
“Do you know how hard it is to find that stuff?” You shouted as you started kicking him on the ground, “Do you know how small the Puerto Rican community is around here? Tiny! I can’t find shit! I went to so many different markets today you piece of shit!”
“Okay, okay babe.”
“Comen mierda!” You growled and started stomping on him. “Maldita sea, voy a —“
[[Translation: Eat shit/ Damn it, I will —]]
Shangqi’s arms came around your waist as he lifted you up in the air and spun you around and away from the man you were attempting to murder with your feet, “Okay, okay. Take it easy —“
“My ingredients!” You hissed. “I had the whole thing planned and they fucking ruined it!”
Shangqi grabbed your shoulders and stared at you, “You were in a car accident and attacked. I think you might be in shock.”
“I’m not in shock, you’re in shock!” You huffed and grabbed his shoulders, “I might be in shock.”
He nodded in agreement, his brows furrowing as he looked you over and his gaze softened seeing how pale you had gotten and how flushed you seemed to be. “Are you okay?”
You nodded and let go of his hands. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into his chest, softly whispering to you that everything was okay and that you were safe now. You closed your eyes, took slow, deep breaths, allowing yourself to focus on the scent of his laundry detergent still stuck on his shirt and a hint of his deodorant mixing together. He pressed a soft kiss to your forehead and held you tightly in his embrace.
After a few minutes, Katy cleared her throat and pointed at the door with her bat, “So are we leaving now or are we just going to wait for these guys to wake up and go for round two? My bat’s still in tact, so, I’m ready.”
Shangqi rolled his eyes and glared at Katy. She innocently shrugged her shoulders while you pulled away and nodded, saying that you were ready to go.
After leaving the roller rink, Shangqi finally was able to see the wreckage of your car. How you left that in one piece was a mystery to him, and his grip on your hand disappeared as he wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled you close into his side. You were positive that if he could just put you in his pocket and protect you from the world, he would. He leaned over slightly, repeating how happy he was that you were okay as he pressed another kiss to your temple.
“Stupid ingredients aren’t,” you mumbled.
“Actually,” Katy peered inside the car. “I think we can get your bag.”
“Just forget it—“
“No, no, my baby wants her bag, my baby gets her bag,” Shangqi said as he took off his jacket and draped it over the hood of the car and along the frame of the windshield to not get hurt. He would lay flat on his stomach and reach inside the car to grab your bag and pull it out, successfully, in one piece. He sat up, held it up in the air, and grinned at you, “Look at that. One piece.”
“Oh, so I can still —“
“You’re not cooking today,” He grabbed his jacket, slung the bag over his shoulder, and went to grab your hand again and start walking with you and Katy. “You are coming home with me. We are going to clean you up. You’re going to wear my sweatpants, shirt optional, and lay in bed while I make you dinner. Okay?”
Pouting, you shrugged your shoulders as you walked together, “I guess….but I wanted to do something special.”
“You’re my something special,” He retorted, ignoring the sounds of Katy gagging. “I appreciate what you wanted to do, but after today? I got this. Let me take care of you any way I can.”
“If that was an invitation for sex, I want to let you know that I will start billing you both for this trauma,” Katy announced.
You chuckled and nodded, “Okay, fine. You win. Dote on me, Shangqi.”
He winked at you, “Care Rita.”
You pursed your lips, “I hate when you purposely mispronounce querida. It hurts my soul.”
“I know, but I love seeing you pout,”He grinned.
Back at his apartment, he did exactly as he had promised….well, technically. He took you to his home and ended up showering with you, washing your hair, slathering his shower gel over your body and sneaking kisses on the back of your neck and shoulders.
After the shower you were comfy and warm in his clothes, laying on the bed and watching him make an easy dinner for the two of you, which you both ate in bed while watching movies. Then, your dinner together turned into a cuddle session in bed where his massaging of your hands and arms took a different turn that involved much less clothing and way more physical activity.
Then again, with the way Shangqi worshipped your body, you were wondering if maybe getting into danger was a reoccurring theme that was totally starting to be worth it.
Laying in bed together, you brought the blanket up after Shangqi rolled off of you and you covered the both of you. You leaned back against his arm as he panted and caught his breath.
“I hate seeing you in danger,” he admitted as he stared at the ceiling. “I hate it. And I hate that it’s my fault.”
You shook your head, “It’s not your fault they’re bad people. Bad things happen. Bad shit happens. We deal with it, we get stronger, we move on.”
He nodded, “Okay, okay —“
“No more of this self-doubt thing. Okay? I love you, and I’m never letting you go,” You promised him.”
“Okay.” He nodded quickly again, “But I need to teach you some self-defense.”
“That’s fine. I’m happy to learn.” You agreed, “You teach me, and I’ll teach you.”
He chuckled, “Yeah, and what are you going to teach me?”
“I don’t know. Not to live in fear?Maybe…get a little better at tracking your bad guys?”
He scoffed and poked your ribs with his index finger, “How long were you holding on to that one?”
“Oh, since my car crash,” you said confidently. “Honey, I’m busting your balls, but I don’t blame you. I blame them. Don’t forget that.”
“Okay.”
“And…on the bright side, it really does bring out some A-plus performance from you.”
He grinned as you leaned over the side of the bed to go through your bag, “I’d like to think that it’s all the adrenaline running through me. I’m glad you agree.”
“Yes, you’re a great performer,” You joked and sat upright again. He watched as you pulled something from a sheet and pressed it onto his forehead, “A rockstar, even.”
He frowned, “What did you just do?”
“Hmm?”
He stared at you before grabbing his phone. He flipped the camera around and saw that you had put not one, but managed to get three stickers on his forehead. One said ‘rockstar’, one was a lime green smiley face, and the last was a gold star. He looked down at your hand and realized you had the pack of stickers you used for your students. His mouth fell into a straight line as he stared at you.
You shrugged innocently, “What? Positive reinforcement is proven to yield great results.”

Shots of Undying Love [SHANGQI x reader]
Summary: Reader and the gang go to a club and they drink too much and stuff happens between Shangqi and reader.
Pair: Shangqi x Fem!reader
Warnings: suggestive themes, drunkness, alcohol consumption.
Tumblr media
One shot:
As it goes to say that one shot motivates you to...do whatever there is you need to do.
You didn't want to dance but Katy said that after this specific shot, you will. You didn't believe her, not one to drink much, but after the three of you took the first shot of the night and cheered; a very dance-able song came on in the club and so Katy dragged you to the dance floor. Your protests weren't heard and Shangqi placed his hands on your waist and turned you to him.
He was grinning and he slowly started to sway his hips and he made you dance with him and you enjoyed it. Very much.
The three of you sang at the top of your lungs to Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris and as you screamed with your hands atop of your head, you felt Shangqi's hands still on your hips, swaying to the music.
When the song ended, and the second it took for the next song to start, you looked into Shangqi's eyes and he looked at you. It was like you guys were in your own little world. Nothing else mattered. His eyes on yours, his hands on yours, your hearts pumping, the alcohol was barely felt.
You needed another drink.
Second shot:
Katy and you took a second shot but Shangqi didn't. He sported a beer.
Shangqi said he would be there in a minute and he stayed at the bar drinking his alcoholic drink while you and Katy danced.
But your eyes couldn't keep off of his. It was like magnets. Your eyes keep meeting in the middle, no smile or anything, just staring.
You didn't know what that meant.
He didn't hate you, right?
You weren't smiling either. But that was because he wasn't smiling first.
Tonight's hot hits were the 2012 songs. And when a particular song you used to listen to a lot came on, you stopped staring at Shangqi and just danced and sang with Katy.
That seemed to make Shangqi think. What were you doing. Why were you looking at him so much. Why weren't you smiling at him. He drank the rest of his beer and moved through the people talking and dancing to get to you. When he got there, the song had ended and you were gasping for air after singing and jumping to the song.
He smiled and he couldn't stop staring at your face, you looked hot. But not any kind of hot. Besides the fact that he found you attractive, you were sweating and your skin looked darker which meant you had blood rushing through your cheeks.
"I want another drink" you screamed to Katy as the next song peaked up.
He watched as Katy grabbed your hand and dragged you to the bar.
He was left in the middle of the dance floor staring at your back.
Third shot (or first fruity drink of the night):
You didn't mean to drink it so fast but you were thirsty and it was very tasty. Flavorful. It tasted like fruit punch and it even had candy. When you drank the last bit, Katy turned to you with her drink and her eyes widened.
"Girl, what the hell. Did you drank that all in one go?" She asked loudly.
You nodded sheepishly. " I was thirsty"
"If you're thirsty, you drink water" Shangqi came over. His hand was behind you, against the bar.
Katy and him started speaking about whatever, all you could think about was Shangqi's arm so close to your sweaty back.
You started to daydream about his hands on you again. Maybe not so sweaty skin. Or...maybe yes. Just when his day dreamed face came to view in the front of your mind with his mouth open in a gasp. Or a moan?
A hand tapped you on your shoulder.
You blinked coming back to your senses and when you turned around expecting to see Shangqi asking for your attention, you saw him glaring at someone.
"Hey pretty, may i buy you a drink?" A dark-skinned guy was suddenly in your vision area and he was looking straight at you.
You gulped. He was handsome.
But there was someone else in your mind tonight. In your fantasies...
You nodded though, not wanting to be rude. And so that's when you had your fourth drink of the night.
Fourth shot (drink):
Your eyes were blurry as you danced near the bar with the dark-skinned lad. He had told you his name but your mind wasn't up for rememberance.
His hands were on your hips but you kept looking to Katy and Shangqi who were having the most fun (or at least that's what it looked to you) as they screamed the lyrics to the one that got away.
After the song ended the guy tried to kiss you but he said: "hey hey i wasn't going to kiss you, i just wanted to let you go. You seem to be in your own little world. No hard feelings though" He walked away and you swayed in your feet.
He was right. You were in your own little world. But also you were drunk.
"A drink. On me." Suddenly, Shangqi's face was next to you and you jumped a little at the closeness. He seemed to be as drunk as you.
You knew you needed water. But you wanted to see what the great Shangqi would get you.
"Sure" You nodded enthusiastically.
Fifth drink:
Shangqi had gotten you a tequila shot. Which you had hated but loved that he was excited for you to have it.
Katy was nowhere to be seen and you figured she had found someone to dance with or maybe she was peeing.
As the music peaked up and your bodies were as close as ever. Your hands on Shangqi's shoulders and his on your ass.
On any other time you would've smacked at his hands for touching your rear. But now you craved it. He squeezed your ass and brought you even closer to his front and you gasped.
Your eyes were on his jaw. You were so close to his skin that you could see he needed a shave.
Your eyes met and Shangqi was the first one to lean in and just when his lips were hovering over yours, your breaths mingling, you couldn't take it anymore and pushed yourself against him, kissing him hardly.
You kissed him like a mad woman and he kissed you like you were the last water in the dessert. You felt his tongue against yours and it made your hairs stand up.
When you separated, your eyes were on his lips and then they travelled to his nose and then his eyes.
"What the fuck?" Someone that sounded a lot like Katy, yelled next to you guys and when you guys turn to her, your body gave up and you fainted.
THE NEXT DAY:
You woke up with a headache and you could feel sweat on your skin, and the still makeup all over your face.
When the ceiling of your apartment came into view, so did the puke and you ran to the bathroom to get it all out.
After showering and getting as much makeup off as you could you decided to drink lemon juice in your sofa.
Slowly, yesterday night came into your mind like a flashback, which it was. You didn't remember much after the fourth drink but you did remember sensations. You felt like your skin was against someone's. But who? The dark-skinned lad? Something tell you it wasn't him.
Suddenly a sensation came all over your body as you remember lips on yours.
You kissed someone?
And you had liked it by your reaction.
Suddenly a knock sounded all over the living room and you stood up.
When you opened the door, Shangqi was on the other end.
He was gasping like as if he had ran there.
"Did you run here?" You asked, blinking as the sun was hurting your eyes.
He didn't say anything at first and then he blurted out. "I'm in love with you and we kissed last night."
Your eyes widened and you felt like puking again but you gulped it down. The bitter taste making you cringe. Shangqi saw this and he himself cringed.
He started to back away from your door.
"Wait." You said but you didn't mean to. Or did you?
He turned around with a scared face and you chuckled. You walked over to him and your bodies were so close you got goosebumps again, just like last night. And that's when you knew that you did indeed kissed him. And liked it. But that was obvious. Because you were head over heels for him.
His hands came to your face just as yours wrapped around his waist.
"We should tell Katy--"
Shangqi's lips were on yours and once again just like last night, the hairs on your arms stood up and his lips tasted like chapstick. You couldn't tell if it was yours or his. And when his teeth bit your lower lip, you sighed in content and smiled.
He was smiling too. Grinning actually.
Katy could wait.
Little did you know Katy already knew.
Oh well.

I knew my fellow #romanogers would always come in clutch when needed the most. Does anyone remember this little fun fact?
about how the last female character, that the male protagonist interacts with end up being their potential love interest in the MCU? And we all know Marvel doesn't like to break tradition that often the little old 'if it ain't broke..'
Point is, everyone knows how Shang-chi ended, the normal way and the post credit way and may be even the deleted scene kind of way if we consider that one where Shaun and Katy were in a car going bowling

You can want them to remain platonic all you want, but they are meant to be. And who says two people dating cannot be bffs too? Who doesn't love a chaotic duo jumping into dangers with 19% odds of success right?
