Forget Me Not is such a tender episode. Kurtwood Smith did a phenomenal job portraying how heartbreaking Alzheimers is. And Shawn is so soft hearted. I get part of the reason he’s helping him is because the captain stuck up for him with his father. But you can tell Shawn genuinely cares for him.

Santa Barbara is giving off small town vibes haha this is the second classmate they’ve run into already and i know theres at least 3 more coming.

Im going to be honest, i don’t think Trish Connors was written well. She’s very two dimensional and mostly serves the b plot. Ashley Williams was good though. She has a wholesome quality about her.

This crime is so sad. This guy went looking for his birth parents and ended up murdered. And then his bio-dad finds out it was his own wife who murdered him. How devastating.

I looked it up and felis concolor actually is latin for mountain lion. I thought he made it up haha

The reason Psych is the Important Show of All Time is because it said "friendship is the MOST important thing." Like, yes, the romances were good but the show spends even more time emphasizing and developing the friendships and that's why it rocks. Lassiter and Juliet love and support each other unconditionally without even the slightest whiff of romance and it is SO. REFRESHING. When Juliet almost dies, Lassie sacrifices his favorite gun to save her without any hesitation. He's the one there to hold her while she cries. She's his confidant. She leaves everything she knows behind so he can chase his dream of being chief without reprocussion. That's a deep, wholesome kind of platonic love. They also never had Shawn be jealous of how close Jules and Lassie are - instead, in the final episode, we see Shawn thanking Lassie for loving and supporting Juliet. We simply don't do that jealousy crap here. Lassie and Jules are best friends and that's an excellent thing. And then there's Shawn and Gus. Those characters are narratively and physically inseperable. The show makes it VERY clear that, without the other, neither one is complete. They balance each other and exacerbate each other's hijinks at the same time. They're closer than close and everyone around them just accepts it. It's just the way those two dumb boys are and no one is going to try to get between that. And then, of course, SO many friendships develop over the course of the show. Lassie and Shawn form a begrudging friendship eventually. Juliet and Karen end up bonding more than I think either expected. Friendship is the beating heart of this series and it's presented in a way that is unique and fun and I just don't see a lot of other shows that do it like Psych did.

The George Takei episode! (shawn vs. the red phantom)

Im just going to start this one from the beginning. Look at Shawns face the moment he sees his father. He either instantly knew Henry was upset or is already bummed to have to interact with his dad, like he’s so used to feeling like shit afterwards.

This has to be the biggest reach for henry though. You can’t like superheroes because they make cops look like idiots and they’re the real heroes. He’s so categorically wrong. First of all, police kind of suck lol. second of all, why was he so threatened by comic books??? Third of all, Shawns like 8 here. He’s not allowed to have an imagination??? How is Shawn a somewhat functional adult??

This explains early seasons Shawn so much. He’s a lot more judgmental, has a particular idea about manhood, and frankly comes across as the flippant “cool guy” from high school, the judd nelson if i may. But we later see that Shawn is just as much a dork as Gus, he just wasn’t allowed to be one. i never thought of this part as character development for Shawn, i always just assumed it was drift, like how Joey from Friends got stupider as the seasons progressed. But now i see it as Shawn becoming who he was always meant to be.

This part makes me laugh so much!

Shawn getting Takei to dislike Gus has to be the biggest dick move he’s done and I’m including drugging him haha. Takei was great. I feel like he’s played a primadonna version of himself a few times. That or I’m just remembering all the rewatches of Psych

I wonder how long lassiter and Vick knew each other before she became captain. Did she work there first? Were they rivals at some point? Or did she come from another precinct?
