Agent 14 Oneshot
Tumblr media
Warnings: maybe a couple bad words
Word count: 2.6k
A/N: While this is a continuation of the Steve x Agent 14 series, this particular installment has...almost no Steve lol. Just wanted to warn people before I get in trouble for that. It does, however, feature Agents 41 and 28 (from series written by @nacho-bucky and @kentuckybarnes )! Also, I plan on expanding and posting the full “menu” of custom drinks that 14 makes for her friends, so stay tuned for that! As always, enjoy and let me know what you think! :)
Tumblr media
She squeals when the ad pops up as she’s scrolling through Instagram.
There it is, in all its glory, right between yet another engagement photo and a “no filter” celebrity selfie.
The S’mores Frappucino.
A towering frozen swirl of sweet vanilla and creamy milk chocolate, topped with the most mouth-watering promise of all: marshmallow whipped cream. And all of it dusted with a generous sprinkle of crushed graham cracker pieces. It’s enough to make 41 want to lick her phone screen.
With a flailing little backwards somersault, she rolls herself off the couch and bounds down the hallway towards Clint’s room, tie-dye socks slipping on the freshly polished floors.
“Guess what season it is?” She flings the door open with one hand, brandishing her phone in the other, her grin nearly splitting her face as she bounces up on her toes, eager to see his reaction - only to pull up short, a soft frown dragging her lips back down. The room is empty.
“Tweets?” 41 glances around the room, taking stock of the discarded socks and inside-out jeans littering the floor, a pair of her own boots flung to one corner, a plush sea turtle smiling at her from the bed. There’s a Sharing Size bag of peanut M&M’s on the nightstand, next to an open can of Red Bull, leaving a ring on the cover of last month’s Men’s Health which he’d permanently borrowed from Sam. She looks up at the ceiling - typically he leaves a vent open as a point of entry if he’s been…exploring up there. But no dice. Their vent remains screwed in place.
Shoving her phone in the front pocket of her hoodie, she backtracks towards the kitchen, rounding the corner from the hallway and sliding into the room Risky Business-style. A blazing mid-morning sun floods the room with light through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bouncing off of the metalwork backsplash and casting sparkles across the empty table. Hands on her hips, she huffs to herself, wondering where he’s run off to, before the clinking of glass bottles catches her attention.
Sticking up from the open door of the fridge is a vaguely familiar yoga-panted ass, waving in the air as its owner rummages through the shelves and drawers, muttering under her breath.
“Nat?” The red curls bounce in her ponytail as she stands at the sound of 41’s voice.
“Oh, hey, kid,” Nat smiles, propping a hand on her hip. If she’s at all bothered by the fact that her friend and coworker just got an eyeful of her backside, she hides it all with a poker face she probably mastered in super spy kindergarten. “What are you up to?”
“Just looking for Clint.” 41 pouts. She shifts her weight to one leg, scratching at her ankle with the toe of one sock. “You haven’t seen him have you?”
Natasha’s eyebrows flicker up as she closes the refrigerator with her hip.
“Oh - he didn’t tell you?”
“Tell me what?”
“The boys are all out for the day,” she sighs, rolling her eyes to the ceiling. “Some kind of belated bachelor party for Tony - even though he’s been married for a year, he said he missed out on the experience; so he kidnapped all of our male counterparts for the day.” Nat shrugs one shoulder, smirking. “Frankly the concept seems outdated - and sexist. But when has Tony ever listened to me?”
Nat notices the way her shoulders fall, the way her hands roll up inside the sleeves of her hoodie. Poor thing. And she’d come in here looking so excited, too; now her frown settles too deeply at the corners of her lips, eyes cast somewhere on the floor. Abandoning her search for a snack, Nat slides onto a bar stool at the island, propping her chin in one hand.
“You have any plans for today?” she prompts. She’ll deny it till her dying day, but the formerly made-of-marble assassin feels…soft at her core now. No, not her abs - her backflips are as tight as ever; but somewhere behind her ribs, deeper than her muscles, there’s a marshmallowy give to her now - the press of fingers could leave a dent on her.
And that’s why, God help her, she couldn’t stand the sight of 41’s frown. Couldn’t endure the downcast disappointment in her gaze. Couldn’t walk away from her halfhearted, sighing shrug.
“Not really,” 41 mumbles, licking her bottom lip. “I was just gonna see if Clint wanted to go get Starbucks with me. They’ve got the S’mores drink now.”
Pulling her phone from where it’s tucked into the waistband of her yoga pants, Nat quickly swipes through her messages and pulls up a group chat named ‘No Boys Allowed’.
I’m so gonna regret this, she thinks, but she types up her proposal anyway and taps send. Time to assemble.
 ***********
The bell over the door dings cheerfully, and 14 fights her inner groan long enough to yell over her shoulder, “Welcome to Starbucks!” She doesn’t turn from the drink in her hands, too afraid of spilling the milk (again) and having to remake this caramel macchiato. Gaze intent on the cup in her hands, she drizzles the sides with caramel, watching the sticky sweet goop glide down the walls of the cup. Satisfied that this should meet the customer’s request for “extra, extra caramel”, she reaches for her milk jug, glancing up from the machine where her espresso shots are queueing.
41 waves ecstatically when she meets her gaze over the espresso machine, a suspiciously casual Nat smirking over her shoulder. Wanda is following close behind them, hands shoved in the pockets of a denim jacket, despite the summer heat. Maria is already standing in front of the register, eyeing the menu, with 28 next to her, a pair of dark sunglasses pushed up on top of her head.
14 blinks.
With quick, nimble fingers, she finishes the drink in front of her and sets it up on the mobile order stand, awaiting the customer. Chase, the barista who should be covering front, is nowhere to be seen; but she doesn’t have any other drinks waiting, so she strides up to the register, tilting a curious brow at her friends.
“Ladies,” 14 smiles, tilting her head to one side. “This is…a nice surprise? A kidnapping? A mission?”
“Relax,” Maria says, punctuated with a good-natured eye roll. “We’re just here for the coffee.”
“Oh, sure,” 14 crosses her arms, leaning a hip against the front counter. “You guys are a little short-staffed, aren’t you? Where’s all the testosterone?”
“Looking for a certain star-spangled specimen?” Nat pipes up. Their group has clustered around the register in a close semicircle. “Boys’ day out. Some kind of adventure that will probably land Tony in the doghouse…but then again, he’s partying with a couple centenarians, so how bad could it be?”
“You’d be surprised,” 28 mutters with a quirk of her eyebrows.
In front of a group of super spies, superheroes, and super intelligent women, 14 fights to put on the best poker face she’s ever had in her life. At the mention of Steve - as well as the news he wouldn’t be joining them - Nat watches her closely; the only sign of her disappointment is the way she purses her lips, eyes flicking towards the door as though she might prove them wrong. And then it’s gone, her eyes turning back to her friends, a beaming, nose-scrunching smile fixed on her face.
“That sounds awful,” she giggles. “But very on-brand for Tony.”
A chorus of assent from the ladies, rolling their eyes and scoffing at the endless supply of evidence they have to that fact.
“Alright so…what can I get you?” 14 prompts. As much as she’d like to stand here, chatting with her friends, she’s still on the clock for another hour and a half - and there’s work to be done. Maybe it stings, chafes her heart a little, that this little outing doesn’t quite include her; that she’ll make their drinks and then they’ll leave, and then more drinks for more people for the rest of her shift. But these customers are more pleasant than most, and it’s not as though she won’t see them later, so she shoves down her insecurity and taps at the screen of the register, opening her till.
“Well we were thinking…” Wanda starts, glancing at Natasha. The two share an amused smirk that 14 doesn’t like at all. “…that maybe you could surprise us?”
“Except me!” 41 raises her hand, bouncing up on the balls of her feet. “I haven’t had a S’mores yet this year, I need one! Please?”
Stunned, 14 looks around the group, cocking one eyebrow.
“So…one S’mores, and then - you all want to be surprised?” What a request - she didn’t trust anyone to make a drink for her…that could really backfire.
“Well, you know us,” Nat shrugged. “You know what we like, what we hate, what we won’t drink…”
“Besides, it never hurts to try something new,” Maria smirks.
Teeth sinking into her bottom lip, a slow smile spreads across 14’s face.
“Alright, ladies, say no more-”
It takes her little more than a minute to line up her plan, squinting at each of her friends in concentration, a Sharpie poised to mark each cup, labeled with a name in her characteristic block-print scrawl. They crane their necks over the tops of the machines, trying to see behind the bar and guess what she’s whipping up back there. Ingredients flit through her hands, shaken into one cup, then exchanged for something else for the next. Syrups, cinnamon, juices, toppings. They try and fail to keep it all straight from one cup to the next, but she’s too fast, hands reaching between two drinks at once.
Finally, with a last look over her shoulder, goofily sticking her tongue from the corner of her mouth, she piles 41’s coveted marshmallow whip on top of her drink and sprinkles the graham cracker topping with a generous hand. 41 barely contains her squeal as she grabs 28’s elbow and points at it.
“That one’s mine! Doesn’t it look amazing?”
One by one, she lines up the drinks at the end of the bar, turning the cups so each name is properly shown.
“Alright, so what am I in for?” Maria cautiously waves her drink under her nose, letting the steam waft up from the small opening in the lid. Hers is a hot drink, its contents concealed in a thick paper cup proudly bearing the same green logo as its cardboard sleeve.
“I thought you wanted to be surprised?” 14 smirks, sliding 41’s frappucino across the bar into her glitter-nailed hands. 28 grabs hers as well, a refreshingly cold…something - she plunges in a straw and swirls the ice as she examines the pale pink color of the drink.
“Well, bottoms up girls,” Nat shrugs, inspecting the layer of foam on top of her drink before raising it to her lips. Wanda taps her cup with 41’s before tipping hers up as well. Standing behind the bar, a rag in her hands, 14 gnaws on her lip as she watches them sip her creations. She shifts her feet as she waits for the verdict.
“Wow.” Wanda’s brows shoot up, tongue flicking over her lip. “This is really good.”
“Yeah,” Maria agrees, going in for her second taste.
“Don’t know why you sound surprised,” 41 says around her straw and a mouthful of whipped cream. “Everything she makes is delicious.”
“Oh, thanks,” 14 brushes off the compliments with a one-shouldered shrug. “If you like it I’ll give you the recipe, so you can order it again?”
Various noises of agreement, all enthusiastic, all from full mouths. She smiles, grabs a blank receipt paper from the register and a pen from the pocket of her apron.
“Okay, so yours Wanda is a double dirty chai with cinnamon…”
  ***********
Folding her apron over one arm, 14 releases her hair from its butterfly clip and reaches for her backpack. She keeps a spare change of clothes folded neatly in the bottom, in case she has to run errands after work and can’t go out covered in coffee and syrup. The bathroom is empty and she ducks inside, slipping into a pair of cutoff shorts and and a tie-dye t-shirt; her faithful sneakers can make it through work and life, thankfully, so she wiggles her feet back into them, not bothering to untie the laces.
It’s been a long day. And a glance at her watch tells her it’s only…1:09 p.m.
Backpack on one shoulder, sunglasses perched on her head, she makes her way back out of the café, pausing at the end of the bar to get her drink.
“Here, girl.” Jade, the barista who made her drink, smiles as she hands her a straw. “You look like you need this.”
“I feel like I need this.” 14 smiles back as she jams her straw into the cup and takes the first sip. Iced blonde americano, 2 pumps toffee nut, a splash of sweet cream. She makes a small noise of pleasure - hits the spot every time.
“See you tomorrow!” she waves to her coworkers as she backs out the door, dropping her sunglasses down to her face as she steps into the unrelenting summer sun. Not two steps out the door, turning to the street, and she nearly bumps into-
“Nat?”
“Hey, long time no see.” Nat wiggles her fingers in a mocking little wave. The rest of their posse is clustered around a couple of bistro tables haphazardly shoved together outside the café.
“What…you guys are still here?” 14 cocks her head to the side. It’s been over an hour and a half at least, their drinks are sitting empty on the tables in front of them. She had assumed they’d be long gone.
“Well, duh,” 41 grins. “We’re going to lunch! And then - oh, we should get pedicures!”
“Oh, can we go to that new Thai place?” Wanda asks, leaning her elbows on the table. “It’s only a couple blocks down from here.”
“God, the things I would do for some egg rolls right about now-” Maria agrees, patting her stomach.
They start to stand from their tables, the metal chairs scraping loudly against concrete, and 28 gathers the empty cups to throw away in the trash cans next to the door. The group shuffles and chatters, eager at the prospect of lunch; purses and wallets are snatched up, phones tucked back into pockets. Wanda leads the way as they march off in pursuit of pad thai and egg rolls, the rest of the group falling in behind her on the sidewalk. Even in the early afternoon heat, they link arms and laugh and stand too close together, sharing giggles and gossip.
Nat lightly bumps 14 with her shoulder, her green eyes gone pale and glittering in the sun.
“You didn’t really think we’d eat and run on you?” she smirks. “Come on, I’m starving.”
14 ducks her head and grins.
“Just one second-” she says, sliding her phone from her back pocket. She snaps a picture of her drink, then smiles at Nat. “Okay, now we’re good.”
Nat rolls her eyes.
“Wow, that was so basic-”
“Shut up.”
A few minutes later, sitting in a blessedly air-conditioned Thai restaurant, she captions the photo ‘new drink for you to try next time - I highly recommend it’ and hits send.
Somewhere across town, shoved cheek by jowl with his buddies in the back of a stretch limo, the interior vibrating with music and lit with flashing LEDs, a super soldier smiles at his phone.

Penny’s relationship  troubles and how that relates to Simon and Baz
aka my Baz and Penny mirror post
I said I’d do this and god what a fucking emotional ride we’re about to go on. Strap in, my dudes.
In Carry On, it’s well-established that Penelope is Baz’s mirror character. She’s mostly static in the book (because it’s almost completely focused on Baz and Simon) and she’s used mainly as a literary device. Her mirroring Baz in particular is established very plainly. Both of them being top of the class; both of them geeking out over spells; both of them geeking out over marriage spells; their mothers both being headmasters; both of them getting out chalkboards and making the exact same types of lists. It’s very much in-your-face screaming in Carry On.
It’s not so obvious in Wayward Son.
The main reason for this is that Penny was upgraded from static to rounded in this book. She has an entire arc of doubting herself, which will most likely be completed in the next book. However, just because it’s not banging pots and pans in your face doesn’t mean the mirroring isn’t there.
Let’s dig in.
Rainbow did something I really, really loved with this book: she made sure we know that happy endings aren’t what we’re told. The story doesn’t end because the Prince and Princess kissed-- how did they hang on? How did they make it to the hundredth kiss? Did they even make it to the hundredth kiss?
This book tells us that sometimes they don’t make it to the hundredth kiss.
This lesson is what’s got a lot of people’s panties in a knot. Here’s the thing though: it’s not a bleak lesson; it’s a warning. It’s a reminder that we have to keep trying; we have to want that hundredth kiss.
Simon and Baz want that hundredth kiss. They just don’t know how to get there.
Wow guys I’m gonna have to struggle to not cry while writing this. Wish me luck.
Yes, the boys are morons that can’t communicate. How does Penny fit in?
She didn’t get to that hundredth kiss.
Micah and Penny are what happen when you just expect happily ever after to take care of getting you to the next kiss.
Micah declares what the lesson Penny (assumedly with Shepherd Tornado Chaser Supreme) is going to learn about relationships is in Chapter twelve:
“A relationship isn’t about the end. It’s about being together every step of the way.”
This may be Penny’s lesson, but this is also a sort of (in my opinion) apology from Rainbow. Because, what was Baz and Simon getting together if not just a nice little tie up as part of a happy ending. What are queer consumers of media usually fed? Our representation usually dies, breaks up, or ends up together all happy go lucky right at the end. We don’t get to see characters we relate to struggle. We don’t get to see them still be miserably in love but unsure how to make it work when shit gets rough.
Wayward Son is what happens when you don’t know how to keep going, but god do you want to.
“I told you that I thought we’d grown apart--”
“And I said that was natural!”
(also taken from Chapter 12 of Wayward)
Simon and Baz growing apart when Simon is so severely depressed and unable to communicate is natural. It’s natural, but it doesn’t mean that he’s going about it the right way. Simon is fucked up. He’s fucked up in a lot of ways, but (and this is coming from someone that’s struggled with the same kinds of thoughts Simon’s suffering from) that’s no excuse for him to hurt Baz in the process.
Simon even realizes that this is a terrible way to go about this. It’s why he’s thinking about breaking up with Baz.
i almost cried typing that just now rainbow why simon why i’m dying i-
BREAKING UP WITH BAZ IS NOT THE ANSWER, SIMON!!
Simon needs to learn how to communicate. How to talk about what he’s feeling and what he needs.
Here’s the thing though: Baz does too.
This is where Penny’s mirroring comes into play. Micah and Penny apparently didn’t talk for two whole months and she didn’t notice. They didn’t talk. They didn’t communicate. This is what killed their relationship.
This is what’s killing Simon and Baz’s.
In Chapter Fifteen we see Simon mulling over Penny and Micah breaking up:
“Penelope and Micah were going to get married.
And now... Merlin, what now?”
I’ll come back to the concept of “endgames” throughout this series, but for now, apply that to Baz and Simon.
Baz and Simon were supposed to live happily ever after, but ever afters don’t work like that. So, now what?
Everything sucks. We are all in Pain. The dumbasses won’t talk. What do we DO, JAY?
god, what do we do. suffer i guess idk.
Okay but for real, we don’t have to worry. Rainbow knows what their issue is. And! She’ll make sure it’s resolved! How do I know?
Well, I’ll tell ya.
Shepard.
We were introduced to a brand new, absolutely batshit, completely delightful character in Wayward. He’s spunky, he’s fun, but what does he do best?
Fucking. Talk.
He doesn’t shut the fuck up!! He’s completely honest and he just talks. Bitch will tell you his entire life story without batting an eye! This is what Penny needs.
This is where Simon and Baz are going to end up.
Perhaps not exactly, that doesn’t suit their personalities. This is what they’ll end up being, though: completely honest with each other.
These fuckers are constantly thinking about each other throughout the book.
“Oh he’s so beautiful.” “Oh he’s so charming.” “Oh he’s so funny and smart.” “Oh he’s so heroic and brave.” “Oh, i’d give him my whole being.” “Oh I wish he’d let me in” “Oh I love him so much.” “I love him.”
They’d both feel so, so, so much better if they just said shit out loud. Good god.
But neither of them are a) in a place where they can say it and b) in a place where they’ll believe it.
This brings us to our next biggie:
Baz still doesn’t like himself.
Simon’s obviously having troubles with self loathing. That’s not even a question in anyone’s mind. Simon’s depression and lack of self worth is one of (if not the) main vocal points of the book.
The issue with Simon’s sadness getting the spotlight is that we overlook Baz’s a bit. It’s thrown in so that we don’t notice immediately, because we’re not supposed to. Baz’s self-hatred isn’t as loud as Simon’s and he’s been dealing with it a lot longer. It’s a self-loathing he’s learned to live with-- he’s used to it by now.
Sometimes the demons we learn to live with are the most vicious of all.
I think it’s very clever that the most overt time we see Baz disliking himself is in his Things I Hate List in Chapter Fourteen.
“11. The wind in my hair.
 12. Convertible automobiles.
 13. Myself, most of all.
 14. My soft heart.
 15. My foolish optimism.
 16. The words “road” and “trip,” when said together with any enthusiasm.”
It’s slipped in there awful sneaky! You’re giggling and going “oh thank god maybe I won’t be sad through the whole book” then BANG! there it is. But, right after we have “my soft heart” and you’re going “oh my poor baby he’s so sweet I love him” before you really had time to process number 13 as anything aside from an “lol i’m hot and icky and i hate myself” joke.
Baz is used to hating himself. It’s everyday whatever. Simon’s is only louder because he’s not used to being allowed time to think about the bad stuff. Everyday before the end of Carry On for Simon was just struggling to get to the next day-- whether that was at Watford or a home. Simon’s happy when he doesn’t have to think; Baz can’t just not think.
Penny’s just learned what doubting herself entails; Baz has been doubting himself for the last decade.
No matter how much they coo at each other, it won’t fix the underlying issue: Baz and Simon don’t like themselves.
This is the main internal conflict of the series for all of the characters: loving yourself for what you are.
This brings us to Agatha.
If you haven’t read my meta on simon being a dragon hell yes then you might want to. I discuss Agatha being a mirror for Simon fairly thoroughly in it.
Remember how I told you to put a pin in the concept of  “endgames” earlier? Well, here we are. Agatha was supposed to be the “endgame.”
Endgames! Are! Bullshit!
Human beings are not our consolation prizes for getting through shit. Becoming stronger as people and loving ourselves more is our prize. Realizing how much you can withstand, how hard you can fight, how amazing you are for surviving is your prize for getting through it.
None of these guys realize this yet. Agatha and Simon just think there’s nothing good that’s going to come out of their lives and Baz and Penelope just think that maybe their “prizes” weren’t what they thought they were.
Maybe the rewards for our efforts were really just inside us the whole time. uwu.
Penny is just starting to think of plans again by the end of the book, but this time they’re looser, wilder, even more hairbrained than before and she really only has one plan at best! She’s learning that she can be strong and capable even when she doesn’t have all the facts and doesn’t have all the details thought through. Penny’s learning to loosen up.
Baz is in a better place by the end of Wayward too. He’s learned so much about vampires and even himself. Like sure I fuckin’ hate Lamb but he helped Baz to realize that... maybe he isn’t a monster. Maybe magical creatures aren’t lesser. Maybe he’s not any less human just because he can drink their blood.
They’re the only two that really, really develop in this book. Simon and Agatha change but mostly stay the same mentality-wise. Agatha still thinks she’s doomed to be a damsel in distress and Simon still thinks he’s just The Boy That Was. Baz and Penny are the most dynamic characters in Wayward Son.
I’m putting my money on next book being Agatha and Simon’s big development book. And at this point I’m convinced it’s going to be more than a trilogy.
Now! Let’s talk about Agatha and Penny.
@stressedidiot pointed out to me that Penny and Agatha holding hands and burning shit down in the last scene was supposed to call back to Baz and Simon. They’re absolutely right. I think the most important thing that was calling back to was Simon giving Baz his magic in Carry On.
This parallel confused me at first: why would Rainbow need to remind us of that scene? I know I personally have the Ladybird and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star scenes permanently ingrained in my head forever. Obviously we didn’t forget that Simon could pour his magic.
Here’s the thing.
Baz and Simon don’t stay together during any of the fight scenes in this book. They always get separated or one of them gets hurt or they’re scrambling trying to find or catch the other one.
They’ve forgotten that they work best when they’re together.
That was one of the main takeaways from Carry On. Simon and Baz work best when they’re together.
“A relationship isn’t about the end. It’s about being together every step of the way.”
Every! Step! Of! The! Way!
This is where my dragon Simon theory really comes into play. If Simon does end up with some sort of dragonesque powers, somehow Baz and him are going to share it.
When Baz figures out how to drink from humans without killing them, Simon’s going to be right there, ready to open up a vein.
This is the true beauty of their relationship. Simon wants to be the one to lead the dance of kisses and intimacy and communication, and Baz wants to be there to give him anything he wants. Baz has received Simon’s magic; he’s gonna drink Simon’s blood; and he’s somehow going to receive something from Simon regarding this dragon business.
“I’d give him all that I am.
I’d give him all that I was.
I’d open up a vein.”
They give and take and equal measures. They love each other wholly. I’m gesturing to my computer screen out of stress right now. They literally love each other that much!
Agatha and Penny sharing a magic conduit at the end of Wayward Son is a reminder of what happened between Simon and Baz and also foreshadowing of where they’ll be again.
Imagine how powerful they’ll be once they remember how to work together.
They were practically unstoppable before when they worked together-- they turned back a dragon.
But now their love for each other is stronger than ever. It’ll only grow once they finally talk. Once they communicate.
Two people, so strong separately coming together with only love and understanding for each other.
With their hearts beating together, they could do more than turn back a dragon.
They could change the world.
check my meta about simon’s wings being The Gay
And also my one about the scarf
Thank you for reading this word vomit. Just wanted to tag a few people that might be interested in seeing this shitstorm of a meta:

GoT/TLOU Abby-sentric fic outline
A synopsis for a fic idea I had that’s too long for me to write all out, so instead here’s the long outline.
Tumblr media
I had this idea come to me while drawing my knight Abby drawing, it was inspired by Brienne of Tarth and also I’ve been in the ASOIAF fandom for years. If I were a better writer with more time here’s how my Abby-sentric somewhat GoT AU would go. This fic won’t be super dark, like I could have gone way more sad and have it align with the GoT/TLOU universe more but this is a self indulgent fic lol. Here’s some Ellie / Dina medieval art that could fit in with this too
In this AU the world is basically a GoT/generic fantasy/generic medieval/but less strict
- There are various lords across the country, some great lords some lesser ones
- Jerry is a great lord, as is Isaac, Maria is a great lady, Neil Druckmann is king (lol)
- There is a plague going around like the Cordyceps but it’s not as bad as the zombie stuff, more like an illness
- Joel is Tommy’s disgraced older brother who was cut off from the family line after going too far for revenge when Sarah was killed
- Ellie is a peasant girl who is immune to the plague, Dina is the younger daughter of a Lord. Jesse is a knight.
- Joel ends up fostering Ellie and takes her with him on his travels, they find out about her immunity to the plague
- Marlene is like a spymaster for Jerry and finds out about Ellie’s immunity, Jerry believes he and his healers can make a cure from her so he has Marlene get Ellie for him, Joel is tricked into bringing her there.
- Joel finds out they plan to run experiments and tests on Ellie to find a cure, and he isn’t about to let them hurt her
- Going back to more about Jerry and Abby, Abby is his only daughter and as a teen becomes betrothed to Owen, who was a knight that got promoted to a lord. Jerry was worried she didn’t want to be a lady and that she wouldn’t end up liking any of her suitors, but when she started to show affection to Owen, Jerry promoted Owen and betrothed them.
- Abby likes to fight though too, and Jerry was fine with her learning to be a warrior as well though it was hard to balance both duties
- Anyway, Joel finds out where they’re keeping Ellie and kills many of Jerry’s men with fire and sword, and also kills Jerry and Marlene when they try to stop him. He burns down part of the castle, rescues Ellie and they go on the run. They eventually settle in the town where Dina and Jesse are.
- Abby is heartbroken over the loss of her father, and also filled with anger. Her father’s most trusted ally Isaac comes in and offers to take charge of the area, Abby agrees to it because most of the council and was killed in the fire and she doesn’t want to lead the town anyway.
- Isaac offers to have Abby trained full time by his best swordsmans so she can be a strong fighter, but he wants her to just be a knight and not a lady anymore. He wants her to break her betrothal to Owen and then have Owen marry one of Isaac’s ally’s daughters, Mel, instead.
- The couple is kinda distraught and conflicted about this, they love each other and have been together for two years. But, Abby knows she wants to go after Joel and can’t just sit back and be a lady. Owen is devastated but has to accept her decision. (They still do the dirty though lol.)
- Owen agrees to the break up and the betrothal to Mel, tough he doesn’t see Mel for a year, and then it’s another year until they’re finally married.
- In this 2 year period Abby is training, Joel and Ellie are laying low, and she’s also learning to fight and getting to know Lady Dina secretly
- More months pass and then the new spymaster gets word of where Joel and Ellie are hanging out. Abby is informed and she gathers her closest group of friends- Manny, Jordan, Nick, Nora, to come with her.
-  Abby has still come into contact with Owen throughout the years, they live in nearby towns. They’re friendly and don’t cross the line, it’s obvious Owen still loves Abby, and she loves him, but they chose theirs paths. Abby gets Owen to come with her on the mission and Mel is aware of it and agrees, Mel spent time with Jerry when she was a teen and looked up to him.
- They travel to the town where Joel and Ellie are in disguise. In a lucky ambush they capture Joel. It plays out a lot like the game, and Abby beats Joel with a mace. Owen is a bit disturbed by her brutality. Ellie comes in too late and is subdued, Abby finishes the job with Joel. They let Ellie go like in the game.
- They all basically go back to normal life, but before they part and say goodbye Owen lets Abby know that Mel is pregnant with their child, and Abby is upset with this. Owen is also emotionally unrested from the pregnancy and from how violent he saw Abby be and is so conflicted that when he comes back, he socially retreats from everyone. Abby tries to just continue being a knight a doing jobs for Isaac but she isn’t sure of her purpose anymore and feels lost
- Ellie is devastated from losing Joel, and vows revenge. Tommy is also upset by the news that his brother was killed, but people don’t want him to send out soldiers to find the person responsible, so he meets and supports Ellie in her tracking them down. It doesn’t take long for his spies to figure the perpetrators were likely connected to Jerry and his house, so Ellie gets Jesse to come with her on a mission to find out what happened. Dina wants to come too but can’t as her parents won’t allow it, though, she sends her blessing.
- Abby goes on a job for Isaac where she’s supposed to kill Seraphites but runs into Lev and Yara and befriends them. She starts to find her purpose again through helping the displaced kids. Yara injures her arm due to the Seraphites hunting them, so Abby decides to head to Owen’s nearby town where there are healers, but they need a discreet one as Seraphites are seen as hostiles.
- Ellie and Jesse infiltrate Owen’s town in search of answers, meanwhile Abby sneaks in Lev and Yara to Owen’s castle and he’s surprised to see her. She tells him she needs a discreet healer and he tells her of one on the outskirts of town. He’s worried about Abby but she brushes him off. She thanks him and goes there with Lev and Yara.
- Ellie and Jesse ask around about Abby and some townspeople mention how Owen knows her and they connect the dots that Owen was there when Joel was killed too. They decide to get to him to try and track down Abby. Ellie and Jesse kill some guards along the way trying to get into the castle.
- Owen and Mel have moved to a tower in the castle that is more secluded, and that’s where Ellie and Jesse find Owen and Mel in a heated discussion, Owen is immediately alerted because he recognizes Ellie. Mel panics and throws a vase at them, and the four get into a scrap, Ellie and Jesse use daggers while Owen and Mel are unarmed, Ellie stabs Mel in the neck as she tries to escape, and Jesse stabs Owen in the shoulder and side and then pins him down. They tie him up to question him and he’s distraught by Mel, who has bled out.
- Ellie learns that Mel was pregnant and starts freaking out. Jesse is also having a hard time keeping cool with this and Owen’s curses.
- Abby, Lev, and Yara get to the healer and get her arm fixed, but they are discovered by an angry gang of villagers who saw her and the Seraphites sneak in there. Abby and Lev have fight them to get away. Abby considers just running away with the two, but she looks up at Owen’s castle and gets to sinking feeling that something is horribly wrong.
- Yara and the healer hide out in a safe area while Abby and Lev head to castle.
- Ellie has collected herself a bit with the help of Jesse, and tries to get Owen to talk about where Abby is, but he is furious and completely unwilling to tell them anything. Jesse thinks that Abby will come to Owen and due to various info that Abby was there recently, and he persuades Ellie to not kill Owen, though she kicks him around a bit as revenge for Joel and still trying to get info.
- Abby comes upon the path Ellie took a few hours earlier and seeing the blood and dead guards and is alarmed, she rushes to the secluded tower she is familiar with from a higher window, and sneaks down in with Lev. She first sees Mel’s blood pool and then Jesse, then Ellie facing the other way, then Owen, tied up and bleeding.
- Abby gets the jump on Jesse and disarms him, she has her sword to his neck and Lev puts his bow on Ellie. But Ellie has scrambled over to Owen and put her dagger to his throat. They’re at a standoff and Ellie tries to barter for by saying that she was the one that caused Joel to kill Abby’s father and that the fight should just be between them. Abby says if that’s the case then they should duel each other with honor and have no one else get hurt.
- After some tense moments, Ellie says yes to the duel and they all tentatively put down their weapons. Abby says that they’ll duel alone in the field behind the walls of the town. Jesse is released and rejoins Ellie. Ellie warns if people come after her then she’ll kill Owen and the rest of Abby’s friends and they leave the tower.
- Abby rushes to Owen as soon as those two leave and her emotions flood out seeing him hurt and realizing the shock of what just happened. She cuts him out of his bonds and he begs her to not do the duel because he doesn’t trust Ellie and is afraid she’ll try something in the duel and kill Abby. She says that she has to go, and takes Lev and subtly alerts the guards to get Owen medical help before slipping out.
- Abby goes to the field where Ellie and Jesse are waiting, they tell Jesse and Lev to hang back and walk a distance away so they can’t hear or interfere with the two women. They tell them to stay out of it. Abby is in a heavier plate mail while Ellie is in lighter chain and mail. They both have longswords.
- Before they fight, Abby says something to the effect that Joel killed her father, and Ellie says she doesn’t care, Joel was her father. They then start to fight, any hit Abby gets on Ellie hits hard, but Ellie is faster and gets hits on Abby as well. At one point, Abby disarms Ellie but Ellie doesn’t stop, she starts brawling Abby instead. Abby tosses away her sword and begins hitting her unarmed too.
- Abby eventually asserts the upper hand and has Ellie pinned down in a slow choke. However, her disdain for Ellie being the cause of her father’s death and causing the death and injury of some of her friends begins to fade as she looks up and she sees Lev looking at her sad and scared. She lets go.
- Abby looks at Ellie who is gasping for breath on the ground and asks her “What good is it going to do? I hurt you for hurting me? Then someone else will come after me for the pain that will caused them. You only wanted to hurt me because I hurt someone who you loved. It will never end. Unless we end it right now. We decide enough is enough.” Abby cries and it hurts her to say that as she thinks of her father.
- Ellie silently cries as she thinks of Joel dead, but then of him alive, and then looking at Jesse, she remembers Dina and how she’d like to see her again. Ellie stares at Abby, which is hard at first, but eventually she sees less of a person she hates, and more of someone who is in pain; someone who is a lot like her.
- “Okay.” Ellie agrees, and she means it. The two slowly get up and walk back to Jesse and Lev. Ellie tells Jesse they’re going and he’s confused but follows her. When Abby reaches Lev she thanks him silently and then pulls him into a hug. The two head back to town.
- Time skip of around 6 months, Ellie has found more peace through meditation and being around her friends. Ellie, Dina, and Jesse are all really close and they decide that since Dina’s parents want her to get married that she’ll marry Jesse, but Ellie will be her secret lover and they’ll share Dina in a poly relationship. Ellie is also Dina’s sworn shield and the two often go on adventures together through the country. Later, Dina has JJ by Jesse and they settle down for a more homey lifestyle in a new village they create that is closer to Tommy’s.
- Tommy was angry for a few months at Ellie that she didn’t kill Abby or more of the people responsible, but his wife Maria becomes pregnant after years of them being unsuccessful at having kids, and once the baby is born he starts to let go of his anger and find happiness again.
- Abby and Owen reconcile, he mourns Mel and his baby and slowly heals. Abby, Lev, and Yara build a domicile near the sea they stay at most of the time. Isaac and his many troops attack the Seraphites and largely wipe them out, but he dies in battle. Some others scramble to take over his position but Owen stays out of it and has his men mind their own business. Owen also makes it known that Lev and Yara are his allies and not to be attacked.
- A few months from that, things calm down more and Abby visits Owen and her friends living in his town often. They begin a relationship again, and eventually Owen proposes marriage to her. But, he clarifies that she’d be able to adventure with Lev and Yara and travel to their seaside house when she pleased. He also doesn’t want to be in charge so much as a lord and decides to delegate more power to his council so he could come and go more often as well.
- Abby tells him she has to think about it, but after telling Lev and Yara they encourage her so she comes back and tells Owen yes. The two are finally married and they all lead a happy, more free life with their adopted kids Lev and Yara, and eventually a baby together.
Happily ever after, lol.

After the heist I want Raquel to pack her bag and get some money as Lisbon and leave Sergio ...She should stay with her family in some paradise.Monica will also join her ... They both should focus on raising their children and casual dating with guys..And sometimes Rio , Helsinki uncle will visit them .
That’s actually such a cool idea! I love Sergio and Raquel, don’t get me wrong, but above all, I love consistency lol
Why not? What if Raquel tells him that after her talk with Alicia, she has realised that because of her love for him, she has neglected her daughter and ruined her future. Because lets face it, if Raquel is on the run, her daughter is too.
And, I know the show never really mentions this... but Sergio is like... a criminal. I know he’s meant to be the ‘good guy’ and all, but he also goes around hiring, what, the Serbian mafia? (Who are those people???) Has a lot of money, buys a shit ton of stuff on the dark web... If the police can’t track him, the mafia’s running that shit-show can. His wealth isn’t built on an empire of people to protect him.... what is one kid with a billions of euros with no protection, living as an outcast to a criminal organisation looking for easy money? Doesn’t that just sound like a target??? It’s easier to take one person down, than a well built up ‘empire’ of people lmao - okay, if he hid away etc. but not go around making purchases like them army trucks... because as soon as he starts his heist, the people who he purchases those things from are gonna tie the two ends together... If Alicia can track him, what is finding him to an organisation with more hackers than he has???
Back to the point, Raquel isn’t the ‘weakest link’, both her and her daughter are ‘weak points’. If Sergio ever pisses off any of the probs very dangerous people he is working with... the main targets are gonna be the people closest to him. Back in the day when he was a petty and poor criminal, well, didn’t really matter. Now, however, things have changed.
Raquel has given her life up to be on the run not only from the police, but like, a large proportion of the criminal world. She is never going to be safe, nor is her daughter. By association she has condemned her family to, well, to some probably not fun situations in the future.
But like.... ignoring all of that.
I totally get you; love is love, I do ship them, but who said their love story had to be conventional; say she came to visit him at the end of s2, told him that she would meet up with him here and there, she would come to live with him, but in 10 years time or so, when her daughter is grown up enough to take care of herself and her decisions won’t impact her. That money might’ve bought Sergio freedom, but the moment Raquel leaves her life for it, its gonna cause her problems, ones which money won’t be able to fix. She’ll never be able to let her daughter go to school without fearing that she might say something, be recognised. She’ll never be able to have the freedom Raquel had when she was young. Her childhood might be carefree playing on the beach, but purely through association she’ll always be on the run from the police, interpol, the other criminals out there who feel like getting a few billions for, basically free, having to take down a person, not an empire. I get financial security, like totally. But its not exactly too great if the price you’re paying for it is your personal security.
And look how much more fun s3&4 would’ve been if Raquel was still part of the police... darn that would’ve been so amazing her in terms of character development, as she’d really have to decide whose side she was on. (obvs with a different plot) - acting as a double agent type thing, to alongside Sergio, make sure no one was hurt etc.
... she is safer not being with Sergio. If Sergio truly loved her, he wouldn’t be with her. I know, I know, that’s so controversial of me to say, but I’ve seen it been done in masterpiece style on screen. I had never seen a better ship been written even though I didn’t get a single kiss! Both of the characters acknowledged they loved each other but were in an environment in which them being together would end in defo at least one of their deaths. Their love for each other was greater than any sort of sexual desire; keeping one another safe was a priority, even if it required sacrificing (very unfortunately for the audience) the desire part. It can be done.
Love can be either selfish or selfless; I think, from the way things have been written, Sergio is more Andres’ brother than one could’ve imagined. He loves her, but not enough to resist his temptation, to ruin her, destroy her life, risk her life and her families. It sounds hella dark, but when you think about it, it sorta is. Because it is wrapped up neatly and nicely and Sergio is all cute... because she loves him and goes after him, blindly. Because however much Alicia’s dialogue about Raquel’s taste of men was written to obvs make the audience disagree with her about Sergio’s case..... darn nobody is perfect, but come on. Denver lost his father in the last heist, Sergio’s brother was shot (ik he was dying, doesn’t that make it worse for Sergio tho? The last months with his brother in paradise, lost?) but there’s one hella completely different reaction. And then we have the scene in which Raquel tells him he is just trying to avenge Berlin; does vengeance have a higher value than love? Is the whole Berlin thing not enough for him to be like, “actually, putting people that I love at life threatening risk, really isn’t a great idea”...??? Rio will eventually be arrested, and tough luck, ya know. Why put the rest of his team’s life at risk? idkkkkk His true love for Raquel will be shown in lcdp7 when he plans a heist to avenge her? WHy for the love of god is she in the bank?
Damn right, Raquel should pack her bags up and finally find a man who is not so willing to harm her. No one said love or the character had to be perfect; I’m a true believer that love requires sacrifices, and Raquel has sacrificed a lot for him... you’d think he’d have the decency to at least not go ahead with the heist ya know. Sergio might be a bit socially awkward, but he’s not fucking dumb. I hate how people seem to think that because he hasn’t had much experience in relationships, he won’t know what he is doing... firstly, when does anyone have any sort of idea of what they’re doing in a new relationship with a new person? It’s all new, and it’s always a learning process ya know. Secondly, Sergio has enough brain cells to lecture Andres about getting married to someone knowing he has very little time... he knows enough to acknowledge that what his brother is doing, isn’t exactly too fair on his wife - which is fair enough; ya know, ‘best three years of her life’ and then she drinks herself to death from the heartache in the year following that? Very hard situation, tbh. Andres is being fucking selfish, but darn, turns out there is something in these genetics...
disclaimer: I still love Serquel, but damn I love my analysis, (I am being very picky today lmao) and if they keep this writing up, they’re gonna keep pushing me to make such unconventional findings. Never before today did I think I’d come to a conclusion that Andres and Sergio are similar in terms of ‘love’... but darn, under the cute dialogues and all the rather radical decisions of the screenwriters point towards very dark threads.
Saying that, if you’re gonna write something like that, have the balls to actually explore it. Don’t make Raquel the ‘love interest’; consequently follow the choices through and make Sergio the nut job who put her back into the bank. Maybe even write it as him idealising the idea of his love for her... maybe the trap in their relationship is as Alicia said, Raquel idealising these guys, but Sergio also idealising her.

What Is Life?
Description: I am taking my OC from A03, and putting her and Rafael Barba in a different universe of how they meet. I’m new to posting on here so it might take me a little bit to figure this out lol. The title comes from a George Harrison song; it’ll make more sense the longer the story goes.

September 1989
“Ma why do we have to switch schools for our Freshman year?” Anthony Rossetti Jr, or Tony as he was called, practically whined while his mother, Stella fixed breakfast.
“Stop whining, Junior,” his twin sister, Elizabeth or Izzy, said as she came in the kitchen, holding her blue and white plaid tie. “Ma a little help?”
“You two are going to have to learn to tie these yourselves,” Stella laughed as she took the tie from her daughter.
Stella Rossetti had accepted a position as the guidance counselor at a Catholic school in the South Bronx, after spending many years teaching high school English at a public school in their Brooklyn neighborhood of Bensonhurst.
“And to answer your question, Junior, the schools in this neighborhood are getting worse. Plus, since I work there, your dad and I don’t have to pay tuition. Also, you two have basically went to school with the same people all your lives and it wouldn’t hurt you to make some new friends.”
“Isn’t that what college is for?” Tony asked with a mouth full of eggs.
“Could you be anymore disgusting?”
“Come on, sis, you like seafood.”
“Junior, stop being gross,” their father said as he came in for breakfast.
FDNY Lieutenant Anthony Rossetti Sr. had come in from his shift around 6 am. He wanted to see his kids off to their first day of their freshman year and to wish his wife of 17 years luck on her first day of her new position.
“Come on, kids. Hurry up and finish your breakfast. We don’t want to be late,” Stella told her twins.
“God, we’re gonna look like such nerd riding to school with our Mom,” Tony muttered. “Well, you more than me, sis.”
Izzy had braces and Tony had teased her non-stop since she got them in the summer.
“Leave your sister alone, Junior,” Anthony instructed his namesake as he loaded his plates with the scrambled eggs and bacon his wife had made.
*****
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” Izzy said after she bumped into a guy, whose locker was next to hers, causing her books to fall into the floor.
“It’s okay,” he told her with a kind tone. “Hey, weren’t you in my 4th period AP Biology class?”
“Uh…yeah,” she sort of stammered as she looked into the guys green eyes. “Izzy…”
“Rossetti. I remember. You’re the daughter of our new guidance counselor.”
“That’s me,” she sort of chuckled as she took a book from his hand.
“I’m Rafael. Rafael Barba.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Rafael.”
“You, too,” he smiled as he helped her to her feet.
“Hey, Ra-ffi.”
“Hey, Eddie, Alex. This is Izzy Rossetti.”
“Hi,” she said as she sort of waved at them.
“Rossetti? Uh-oh. You’re the counselor’s daughter,” Eddie teased.
“Yeah, that’s me,” she repeated.
“Well, welcome to Monsignor Scanlan High School,” Alex said with smarmy smile that Izzy uncomfortable.
“So, what’s your next class?” Rafael asked her.
“Uh, lunch, actually.”
“Us too. You want to join us?”
“Maybe another time, Rafael. I need to find my brother.”
“I’m gonna hold you to it,” he smiled.
“It was nice to meet you guys,” she told Alex and Eddie before heading to the cafeteria.
“That girl is hot,” Eddie told Rafael.
“I don’t know about the braces,” Alex mentioned.
“What do you mean?”
“Come on, Rafi. You don’t want that amount of metal near your dick if she’s giving you head.”
“Seriously, man?!”
“I’m just saying. I mean, yeah, she is hot but those braces are scary.”
“I think they’re cute,” Rafael added.
“Uh-oh. Our boy has a crush,” Eddie laughed.
“Come on. I’m hungry,” Rafael told them as they headed to the cafeteria.
********************
“Baby girl why are you eating lunch in my office?” Stella asked her daughter.
“I don’t fit in here, Ma.”
“It’s been a half a day. Have you met anyone?”
“Well…I met a guy,” Izzy said with a small smile.
“Really? Is he cute?”
“Unbelievably so, Mom. His name is Rafael Barba.”
“Barba…Barba? I wonder if he’s Lucia’s son?”
“Who?”
“You remember Lucia Barba. She taught with me at PS 128.”
“Sort of,” Izzy shrugged as she picked at the cheeseburger she had got from the cafeteria.
“What happened to my daughter that didn’t meet a stranger?”
“I don’t know.”
“She’s still there,” Stella chuckled as she took a bite of her own cheeseburger.
“Why are me and Tony on different schedules?”
“Because I thought it would be best. You two have been joined at the hip since before you were born. You need to make new friends, meet new people.”
“I guess.”
The first bell rang, signaling to the 11:30 lunchers that they had 10 minutes to get to their 6th period class.
“I gotta go, Ma. Thanks for letting me have lunch with you.”
“Of course, baby girl. I know this is different from public school but you’re gonna do great.”
“Thanks.”
Izzy headed to her AP American History class.
“Ah, yes, Miss Rossetti. There is an empty desk next to Mr. Barba. Rafael, raise your hand so Elizabeth can find her desk.”
“It’s Izzy,” she told her teacher as she made her way to the desk next to Rafael.
She opened her book to the page Mr. Cervantes had said and was doing her best to concentrate but her attention was mainly on Rafael. He had his hand up to answer any question that was asked.
“Miss Rossetti?”
“Huh?”
“What started World War I?”
“The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand from Austria,” she answered without missing a beat.
“Just making sure you were paying attention to something other than Mr. Barba.”
Some of the kids in the class giggled as she wanted to die in her seat.
***********
“Don’t let Cervantes get under your skin,” Rafael told her as they walked out of class.
“I was just amazed at your knowledge,” she lied.
“I like to read,” he shrugged as they walked down the hall. “Speaking of…did I see a copy of ‘Less Than Zero’ in your hand earlier?”
“You did. Bret Easton Ellis is one of my favorite authors.”
“I saw the movie…”
“Oh no. The movie and the book are so different. Julian, Robert Downey Jr’s character, doesn’t die in the book.”
“Really?”
“Yep.”
“Have you ever read anything by Kurt Vonnegut?”
“Can’t say that I have.”
“You should. ‘Slaughterhouse Five’ is really good. I think you’d like it.”
“Well, I might have to check it out.”
“So, my friend Alex thinks you’re hot.”
“Yeah?” She asked, even though she didn’t want Alex to be one of the three to think she was hot.
“Yeah. You think you might be interested…”
“Not really. I mean, no offense but I have basketball try-outs next week and honestly, he doesn’t seem like my type.”
“I understand,” Rafael chuckled. “So, you’re an athlete, huh?”
“I’ve been playing basketball since I was 10. You?”
“The only thing I play is Chess…and Nintendo.”
“I could give you a run for your money.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. I’ve beat Super Mario Brothers 1 & 2 several times.”
He laughed at her joke.
“I could probably kick your ass at Chess, too, though.”
“Challenge accepted, Rossetti,” he told her with a smirk.
*********
“Hey, you’re Izzy, right?” A girl with brown hair asked as she opened the other locker next to Izzy’s.
“Uh, yeah.”
“Erin Harris. We have History together.”
“Right, yeah. You sit in the back.”
“So Mr. Cervantes will leave me alone. How do you like it here so far?”
“It’s been a week,” Izzy shrugged. “It’s not so bad, I guess. I’ve just been used to public school all my life.”
“I know the feeling. My parents made me transfer here to the junior high last year because I kept ‘getting in trouble’,” Erin laughed.
“I see.”
“I’m not that bad. Honestly. Just hung around with the wrong crowd. Dying my hair pink was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
“Wow.”
“So, uh, you like Rafael?”
Izzy was a little taken aback by Erin’s blunt question. “Wha-what do you mean?”
“I sit behind you and see the way you stare at him during class.”
“I mean…he’s cute,” she shrugged.
“Well, he’s in love with Yelina Ortiz so, don’t get your hopes up.”
“Who’s she?”
“Come on. She has the same lunch we do. I’ll show her to you.”
After Izzy and Erin sat down with their diet cokes and nachos they had gotten from the a la carte table, Erin pointed out Yelina to Izzy. She was tall, long dark hair, and very beautiful dark skin. Izzy gave up any hope of dating Rafael in that instance. She saw the way he practically fawned over her; Alex did, too, though.
“Are they dating?”
“No. That’s the thing. He follows her everywhere but she only dates older guys.”
“How do you know this?”
“It was like that last year in eighth grade even. It’s kinda sad cause he’s a very nice guy. Really sweet.”
Just then, across the lunch room, Rafael looked up to see Izzy looking at him. He sort of smiled, causing her to blush and look back to Erin.
“He’s coming over here.”
“No, he’s not.”
“If you’re gonna make the basketball team, shouldn’t you be eating better?” Rafael teased as he took a seat at their table. “Hey, Erin.”
“What’s up?”
“It doesn’t hurt to cheat once in a while,” Izzy giggled. “Hey! Don’t you have your own lunch?”
“I already ate it,” he smiled as he popped the cheese drenched chip in his mouth.
Izzy couldn’t help but laugh at the cheese that had dripped onto his chin.
“What?”
“You got…you…here,” she told him as she wiped his chin.
“Oops,” he laughed. Erin nudged Izzy and discreetly motioned toward Yelina, who was burning a hole through Izzy at that very moment.
“I think you’re…uh…friend is getting a little jealous.”
“She’ll be fine,” Rafael told her as he continued to sit with Erin and Izzy for the remainder of lunch before their history class.
The three of them walked down the hall after lunch to their class. Erin took the desk directly behind Izzy instead of her normal seat in the very back.
“You’re in my seat, Erin,” Bradley Walker told her.
“Now it’s mine. There’s a few other empty ones.”
“Ugh, whatever.”
********************
“You’re not going to the winter formal?”
“No, Ma,” Izzy answered as they worked on dinner one night in November.
“Why not. We could get you a beautiful dress, get your hair done…”
“No one’s asked me,” she shrugged.
“I thought Alex Munoz asked you. That’s what your brother said.”
“I can’t stand Alex, Ma. And he didn’t ask me. He told me I was gonna go with him more or less. I don’t need someone making decisions for me.”
“He was probably just playing around.”
“Still…there is nothing attractive about him whatsoever.”
“Well, you and Erin could always go with each other. Surely guys would ask you to dance.”
“Maybe.”
“Do you know this girl your brother is taking?”
“Heather? A little, not well though. She seems nice enough.”
“How’s my two favorite girls?” Anthony asked as he kissed his wife on the cheek.
“Good. How’d you sleep?”
“Decent enough. Uh, Izz, there’s someone in the living room to see you.”
“Me? Who?”
“That boy that hangs out with your brother.”
“That could be anybody, Pop.”
“I can’t keep all his friend’s straight. Just go see. I can finish helping your mother.”
“Okay.”
She opened the kitchen door and found Rafael, still in his school uniform.
“Hey, Raf,” she smiled. “My dad did tell you Tony was…”
“Yeah, I know. I came to see you, actually.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. You know the winter formal is in a few weeks?”
“I’m aware,” she laughed.
“Your brother said you didn’t have a date and I was wondering if you’d like to come with me?”
“Uh…uh…”
“It’s just a ‘yes’ or ‘no’,” he said with a smirk.
“I just thought maybe you’d go with Yelina.”
“Yelina?” He laughed. “Please. She wouldn’t go to the dance with a nerd like me.”
“You’re not a nerd,” she told him as she tilted her head. “And yes, I’d like to go with you.”
“Are you saying that out of pity or because you really want to go with me?”
“I’d really like to go with you.”
“Then it’s a date. I’ll see you school at tomorrow.”
“Rafael what brings you by?” Stella asked after she came out of the kitchen.
“I…uh…I just asked your daughter if she’d like to escort me to the winter formal.”
“Is that right? And what did you say, Elizabeth Machelle?”
“Well, of course, she said ‘yes’, Mrs. Rossetti.”
“Jeez, Rafael,” Izzy said as she rolled her eyes.
“Well, I am finishing up manicotti that my son asked for but he can’t keep himself at home so you’re more than welcome to stay for dinner.”
“I should probably get home.”
“Nonsense. I’ll call your mom.”
“Oh, okay. Sure, thanks.”
Stella called Lucia who said it was fine if Rafael stayed for dinner and Anthony said he would make sure he got home instead of taking the subway back to the Bronx.
********************
Izzy had found a simple, strapless black mid-length dress with sequins but not too flashy at all.
Rafael showed up in a black 3-piece suit with a red tie. Izzy was impressed to say the least. She had only seen him in his school uniform, other than the few times he had come over on the weekends in jeans and t-shirts.
“You look beautiful,” he smiled at his date when she came down stairs. Her blond hair was done in ringlets which had given her a headache as they were being done but a couple of Advil later, she was fine and ready to go.
“Thanks, Raf. You look…pretty good, too.”
“And we all know, I look great,” Tony laughed.
“Okay, Tony. Where’s your date?”
“We’re picking her up on the way, Dad. Thanks again for getting us the car.”
“Well, I thought it was better than you guys taking a cab or the subway.”
“Yeah, thanks, Mr. Rossetti.”
“Not a problem, Rafael. I want my daughter home by 11.”
“Yes, sir.”
“If there’s one hair on her head out of place…”
“Dad!!!”
“I’m just kidding, princess. You guys have fun.”
They let Stella take a few pictures before they left. They sat in the town car, Rafael’s legs bouncing as he nervously ran his hands on his knees.
“You okay?”
“I’m fine, Izz,” he smiled to which Tony just sort of laughed, earning a nudge in his ribs from his sister.
***************
They finally arrived at the “Winter Wonderland” formal dance. It was basically a prom for the Freshman and Sophomores.
“There you are!!” Erin exclaimed when she saw Izzy walk in with Rafael.
“I told you I’d be here,” Izzy laughed at her now best friend.
“You look amazing. Doesn’t she, Rafael?”
“Yes, Erin. I already told her she looked great.”
“Come on, let’s dance.”
“Erin…”
“It’s okay, cariño. Go have fun. I’ll get us something to drink,” Rafael told her. She didn’t know what “cariño” meant but it didn’t sound bad.
Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” blasted over the speakers as Izzy and Erin danced while they laughed and sang along.
She noticed Rafael sitting at a table with Eddie and Alex as he watched her.
Erin had actually went to the dance with Eddie so they went to sit with their dates.
Soon Depeche Mode’s “Just Can’t Enough” started playing.
“Dance with me, Raf?”
“I don’t really like to dance.”
“Come on. It’ll be fun,” Izzy told him.
“What the hell?” He shrugged as he took her hand and led her to the dance floor. She didn’t understand why he didn’t like to dance because the boy sure knew how to move. Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible” came on next so the two of them continued to dance.
“How about a break? Some food maybe?”
“Uh, sure, Raf,” Izzy agreed as she was working up an appetite after dancing.
After a few snacks and a couple more glasses of punch, Erin grabbed Izzy as The Romantics “Talking in Your Sleep” started playing.
“So, uh, what’s up with you and Rossetti?” Alex asked.
“We’re friends,” Rafael told them. “She didn’t have a date and neither did I so I asked her…”
“Rafi?”
“Uh…hey, Yelina.”
“Your date seems to be more into her best friend than you.”
“She’s just having fun,” he shrugged. “We’re just friends. It’s not like she has to be by my side the whole time.”
“Hey, Yelina, you want to dance?” Alex asked.
“No thanks, Alex. My date is getting us something to drink,” she said as she motioned to the Senior that she had been dating, Riley Watkins.
Izzy noticed Yelina and immediately grabbed Erin and headed back to the table. She promptly took her seat next to Rafael, pushing Yelina out of the way with her butt.
“Izzy. I wondered why you were leaving this poor guy all alone,” Yelina snarked.
“Hey, Raf, you want to join me for another dance?” She asked as Billy Idol’s “Hot in the City” started playing.
“You bet,” he smiled.
They continued to dance. They were even warned by one of the teachers that was chaperoning that they were a little too close. Izzy wanted to make a move on him so bad.
“You know, I really like the red and green rubber bands you have on your braces,” he told her as they danced to Journey’s “Open Arms”.
“Uh, thanks,” she said as she felt her face get hot. She was so glad it was dark enough that he couldn’t see her blush.
“Would it be okay if I…” he asked as he moved in closer to her, making her heart skip a beat.
“Can I cut in?” Yelina had the audacity to ask.
Izzy knew Rafael was in love with her and actually let her.
She went to the bathroom with Erin following close behind.
“What the hell was that?”
“What?”
“You let Yelina dance with him? Are you crazy?!”
“What was I gonna say?”
“How about, ‘fuck no! He’s here with me,’?”
“We’re just friends.”
“He was about to kiss you.”
“No, he wasn’t.”
“Are you that fucking oblivious?!”
“Erin…”
“Her date left. She’s here alone now. She’s trying to swoop in on your guy.”
“He’s not my guy.”
“I’m just trying to help you, here.”
“I’m fine, Erin. Really.”
Rafael had went looking for Izzy after sharing half a dance with Yelina and found her coming from the bathroom of their school’s gym.
“Hey, you want another dance?”
“Actually, I think I’d like to go home.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah. I’m getting tired. Erin has been wearing me out,” she lied.
“Oh. Okay. Do you want me to find Tony and Heather?”
“They still have an hour before curfew. I can catch a cab.”
“No, you can’t. You came with me and I’m going to make sure you get home safely.”
“I’ve got her,” Erin said with a glare.
“Erin I can get her home. It’s fine.”
“I’m going with you then.”
“Whatever.”
************
Erin told Eddie she was ready to leave so he decided he’d go, too, even though she told him he didn’t have to.
Tony told his twin that he had enough money to get a cab for him and Heather and for her to take the car their dad had gotten for them.
The ride to Bensonhurst was a quiet one. Once the driver pulled up to Izzy’s house, she and Erin got out but Rafael insisted on walking Izzy to the door.
“I had a good time tonight with you.”
“Yeah, me too,” she smiled.
Erin leaned against the porch wall with her arms crossed, her eyes shooting daggers into Rafael.
“Erin can you give us a minute?”
“Uh no,” Erin replied to Rafael.
“Here’s my key, Erin. Just go up to my room.”
“If you say so, Izz,” she scoffed as she took the key chain from her best friend and unlocked the door.
“So, I guess I’ll see you Monday?”
“Yeah, Rafael,” Izzy nodded.
“Thanks for coming with me tonight.”
“I had a good time.”
“I’m glad. Well, I guess I should be going.”
“Okay.”
He started to move closer to her but the kiss landed on her cheek instead of her lips like she had hoped.
They said one last good-bye before she went inside.

A lot of the unused dialogue (as well as used tbh) does show the heavily altering personalities between the girls (despite fandom thinking theyre interchangeable lol)
Dani refers to Bela as the smart one, but refers to herself as the most loved by Cina.
Bela seems to blame everything on Cassandra, and doesn’t have much to say about Dani, but does reference the fact she has to fix both sisters messes as the eldest.
Cass refers to both of her sisters with affection, will call them over when attacking ethan, and wants to share her catch with them both (also note: Dani wants to devour ethan in the second they tie him up, Bela feels she gets first dibs as the one who caught him. Cass didn’t bring it up, and calls for her sisters when she catches him so they can have their taste.)
It’s clear all three love each other greatly, but i think the theory that cass is the most self centered is… honestly just wrong. Yes, they’re all selfish. Despite being hard on them, Cina does spoil the shit out of them too. But people seem to think that since Cassandra hunts the most, and her kills are on display all throughout the castle, that she’s the most self centered one. But she isn’t. She has the true middle child energy of doing everything for her family, not just for her.
Cina even trusts her enough to ensure, even before Dani dies, that Cass is on the case and ready to attack ethan, and that cass is aware of what happened to Bela so she’ll be ready to take vengeance for her. But again, Cina is also hard on her, she’s hard on all three of them (Dani doesn’t see it, but she even admits that mother is scary in the unused audio.)
Ultimately, though, theyre still loved, but while Bela is the one called on in most normal situations, there are situations Cassandra is called in first. Because she’s the most adept in that moment, and her empathy for her family is a useful tool.
Like I’ve said before, Cass has absolutely no opinion on Miranda at all, Dani only cares as far as she’s adored, and Bela’s loyalty is specifically because of Alcina. If Heisenberg showed the girls how Miranda treats Alcina, Bela would tell Alcina immediately, Cassandra would get extremely defensive of Alcina and lose any ounce of trust she could have had for Miranda, and Daniela is more of a loose canon: there’s no guarantee she’d even remember shortly after, let alone care, as long as Alcina is happy.
Also please note: Sadism and Selfishness are different. Like with BDSM, you can be a sadist but still have empathy for others, and I’m primarily stating Cassandra has selective empathy, but is still empathetic to others. That does not mean she isn’t a sadist, though, and she does still take pleasure in hurting others and killing. Some part of her considers it right to do to others what she’d been through in her past life, therefore any moral aspect (that her reborn self doesn’t care much about anyways) is relieved. But she also doesn’t remember her past life, so.

Since we see so little of it, how do you think the other couples beside B/E give gifts? Who gets flowers? Who gets jewelry? Who take vacations? How do the other Cullens show their love?
I think Emmett/Rosalie are the most stereotypical of the gift-givers because Rosalie is sort of “trapped” in that mindset given how/when she was frozen. She was dreaming of this big magical wedding with all the lace and hearts and flowers stuff. So I think she responds to that stuff–the flowers, the jewelry. The down-on-one-knee proposals once a decade or so. She finds comfort and familiarity in those human ideas of romance and Emmett’s happy to oblige. Sometimes he tries to think outside the box and it’s 50/50 as to whether it goes over well, so he usually sticks to the tried-and-true.  Emmett on the other hand is a simple man, and Rosalie’s gifts to him are usually either sexy (lingerie, etc) or “bro stuff” like video games and sports and adventures (scuba diving to look for a pirate ship). I think she’s the more creative, generally. I think, in keeping with Jasper and Alice’s mystical vibe, they aren’t necessarily big gift-givers. It’s also complicated with Alice’s power–Jasper has a hard time surprising her. He thinks of something and she’s all “THANKS I LOVE IT” and so it takes some of the fun out. Their whole deal seems to be on this supernatural plane that doesn’t have a lot to do with physical things like presents. I think Jasper probably does do flowers sometimes but probably more like something he picked while hunting vs the elaborate, expensive bouquets Emmett gets for Rosalie. Alice buys him clothes but apparently she buys everyone clothes lol. She’ll buy him things she’s “seen” he likes or wants but it’s her emotional climate and her complete acceptance of him, dark past and all, that are the greatest ‘gifts.’ I stand by thinking Carlisle’s gifts are thoughtful, and sometimes that can spill over to “really expensive” but it doesn’t always. It could be buying Esme this crumbling old house because of the pleasure she will get fixing it up. It could be getting her a bouquet with flowers whose names spell our her name, or have significance in the language of flowers, rather than the expensive bouquets.  Esme totally buys (knits?) him scarves, and books, and art, but I think more than anything it’s just the little things she does to care for him that really move him. He was pretty much alone for 250 years, being a doctor who took care of others, and then he took care of Edward, and it was only when Esme came along that there was someone who showed him that kind of care. So he loves the scarves and books and stuff but her “gifts” are also like, “Let me fix your tie” and  “I mended those socks” and “Your eyes are getting dark, you should hunt before your throat hurts too much.”

Alright, well today was pretty good! Got to sleep in of course, so that helped immensely. I woke up at 2:30 which was pretty perfect as far as I'm concerned because it's obviously a solid amount of sleep and I didn't have to rush out the door right away. So I had some breakfast and went on my computer and generally just chilled out for a while before getting ready and heading to school. Saw Dan for a minute outside and said hi to him. So tonight's class was our presentations for our field observations for my mission based lawyering class, and there had been different categories we could choose from like interviewing the executive director of a non profit or observing court, and of course I chose the latter. So my presentation was kind of different than everyone else's being that it was mostly me recounting the cases I saw take place, but I managed to tie it into a comparison between pro se litigants and those with lawyers, mostly by talking about how incompetent (lol) the lawyers I saw were and how frustrated the judge was getting with them, and how that would differ from a standard attitude a judge would take with a pro se litigant. So I'm hoping I managed to do decent with that, I think I did pretty well. Everyone else's presentations were interesting, nothing terribly shocking or thrilling but interesting nonetheless. We went almost the whole time, and I went home afterwards and started supergirl. It was a pretty solid episode that I was satisfied with, especially in comparison to last week's (feels like what I was saying about Suits season finale compared to last season's finale last night). This is probably majorly due to the lack of Meh-El in this episode (I think that's my new nickname for him and what I shall refer to him as from this point on) which meant more interesting stuff could take place. The whole Kara getting her story published plotline felt underdeveloped, and ultimately somewhat dissatisfying when she ends up getting fired over it. Though I have to say, did you really not see that coming? Like really? Cuz I saw it coming. Now would really be a great time for Cat Grant to come back and fix everything in Kara's life, namely her job and Meh-El. I miss her a lot these days. The A plot was better though, and a satisfying follow up to last week. I felt like J'onn was being super unfair to Alex by doing what he did, and I fully supported Maggie being like "fuck no fight for what you think is right" because that's 100% what I would've done in the situation and I love that that ends up being the thing that gets Alex into the facility and them the info to take them down. The stuff with Jeremiah was sad, I don't know if I fully buy that he was doing all this just because "Cadmus said they'd hurt Alex and Kara" especially when one of those daughters is an alien and you're essentially working to rid the earth of aliens.....I adored Alex's line when she was like "why would you think we would want you to hurt other people to protect us?" Like, yes, so much yes here, I love it. I can understand why Jeremiah thought shipping the aliens off was an acceptable alternative, cuz I mean it's definitely better, but I'm glad they stopped it and Jeremiah ultimately chose to go with Alex. I adored the interactions between Alex and Lillian Luthor because LL was just like "you wouldn't blow this up" and Alex was like "BITCH WATCH ME" because that's 100% me in any situation someone challenges me like that so it was ridiculously satisfying lol. So I'm overall pleased with the episode (and it's lack of Meh-El) and I'm pumped for next week because TERI HATCHER who is the Lois I grew up with, waking up every morning over the summer to watch Lois and Clark: the new adventures of superman, while I was still young enough to confuse "Lois and Clark" with "Lewis and Clark." Also she was amazing on smallville as Lois' mom, so I'm sure she'll be great here too. And yeah, that was pretty much my day, pretty satisfied with it I'd say. Work tomorrow, then trial ad where we have to give our opening statements. I was looking over mine today, I won't have it word perfect but I'll have a good idea of what goes where and that should be fine for these purposes. And yeah, until then I'll be getting some sleep. Goodnight you awesome people. Sleep well.
