what do you think about ed sheeran
Good day to you, @toothsheeran.
We today have an answer for you, in two parts, to the imperative question you raise with us here at WIP: The Ed Sheeran Question. We’ve been expecting you.
-
Jon (Tumblr Marketing): This question struck me as considerable happenstance, as it was only in the past week I was looking at Ed Sheeran’s Wikipedia, and looking him up, on Google. Nae, the doubters say, ‘Tis far too inconvenient: I don’t believe for one moment you were actually Googling Mr Sheeran, or researching his Wikipedia profile, only to find this WIP question nestling in your inbox just days later I simply do not believe it!, they say.
Tumblr media
Look upon my search history, ye mighty, and despair!
So it is true I was Googling Ed Sheeran, and the extent of my thoughts are these: Wow, I thought, Ed Sheeran went to prep school. Didn’t expect that. Wow, I thought, Ed Sheeran was voted by school classmates as “most likely to be famous”. This made me consider my own school experiences: I was, unfortunately, voted “most likely to work at McDonald’s”. Some wounds never truly heal, I can assure you.
My thoughts continue. I recalled earlier school days, in which my classmates and I would gather in hallways with our tatty jumpers and baggy rucksacks which would swing around like potatoes in a sack, and play Ed Sheeran’s very first recordings through the weak speakers of our mobile phones. We marvelled at the young man’s talent, and it seems remarkable—and a touch melancholy—to reflect on these days now. At this time, Mr Sheeran was merely a word-of-mouth phenomenon. We didn’t know it, but we young sproglets were at the cutting edge of popular music! More than ten years later, and Mr Sheeran is now a pop culture behemoth! He is also a close acquaintance of Tay-Tay, or so I am informed by Lindsay, an esteemed colleague here at Tumblr.
My thoughts continue still. In the ten years since Mr Sheeran’s meteoric rise, a rise that has born witness to more than 150 million records sold worldwide, Spotify’s second most streamed artist of the decade, Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act, a second studio album, x, which has topped charts around the world and won Album of the Year at the 2015 Brit Awards, and the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, Mr Sheeran has become noted for his flaming red hair. As it happens I too have flaming red hair. This has led to an unfortunate increase in incidents whence I stroll the streets by moonlight, letting the day’s thoughts rest and percolate, when various street urchins (drunk, I imagine) have felt at liberty to shout “Oi! Ed Sheeran!” at me.
That concludes my thoughts on Ed Sheeran; thoughts which, I fear, say considerably more about my person than that of singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor, Ed Sheeran.

The interesting thing about the ed Sheeran verdict is that it went the completely opposite direction of the Blurred Lines case.
The Blurred Lines case was exponentially weaker and less clear. That verdict should never have been allowed and will likely be reversed.
When you consider that Led Zeppelin (among others) has gotten away with much clearer violations many times, it seems insane that blurred lines was considered a copyright violation.
In Sheeran's case - the fact that he totally ripped off the groove, feel and chord progression of another song and then changed the melody and lyrics, and added a different chorus, is annoying as fuck to me - but absolutely not copyright violation.
This is how art and music works.
In my personal world - I don't (try not to) support artists that do this shit, because it is not something I enjoy. But others love it and the guy sells millions of records by being derivative. Good for him - it's legal, just unethical in my opinion.
In my perfect world, Sheeran would have credited the original writer as a co-writer and the music world would be a better place.
I have very clear beliefs in this area, they are arcane - but so am I.

Assault at Barrytown: James J. Sheeran and the Unification Church drop charges against each other. (1975)
3 Sisters Defend Sun Myung Moon Sect Against Sheeran’s Kidnapping Charges New York Times.   By Eleanor Blau
October 2, 1975  Section New Jersey Pages, Page 83
Tumblr media
▲ Jaime Sheeran in her room at UTS, the Moon seminary at Barrytown. She’s one of three daughters of New Jersey Insurance Commissioner James Sheeran. She won’t quit the cult.
While New Jersey’s State Insurance Commissioner stood outside accusing the Unification Church of brainwashing his three daughters, the daughters were saying at a news conference yesterday that it was their father who had been duped and that they feared their parents would try to kidnap them.
The conference was held at the sect’s center, 18 East 71st Street, to rebut charges by the Commissioner, James J. Sheeran, that members of the church—whose founder is the Rev. Sun Myung Moon—had beaten him up recently when he sought one of his daughters at the sect’s center in Barrytown, N.Y.
Reading from a statement, Joe A. Tully, director of the Barrytown center, who was named as one of Mr. Sheeran’s alleged attackers, said: “At no time did anyone strike Mr. Sheeran or his family. At no time was he unconscious.”
Sect’s Version Given
The Commissioner, according to Mr. Tully, had been informed earlier that his 21‐year‐old daughter, Josette, was not at Barrytown, but had “entered the premises illegally” after being told that he could not enter. Mr. Sheeran began yelling for his daughter, striking Mr. Tully, biting him on the arm and kicking several of the men in the groin, the sect’s statement charged.
Mr. Tully contended that he and several other members had held Mr. Sheeran down and, he acknowledged, gagged the Commissioner, then had called the state police.
Mr. Sheeran’s version of the incident was that he had been “assaulted viciously” by Mr. Tully and several young men, and had been gagged with rags until he had lost consciousness.
The Commissioner and the church have dropped charges filed against each other, and the Dutchess County District Attorney is conducting a “preliminary inquiry” into the Sheeran affair and what the District Attorney says are other incidents involving Moon followers.
Also reading a statement, 24‐year‐old Jaime Sheeran said she and her sisters, Josette and Vicki, 25, “love our parents very much,” but could no longer communicate with them because “regardless of what we said they interpreted it as mind control.”
Miss Sheeran contended that her parents had been “contacted by the kidnapping crew” and that a friend who escaped from kidnappers had told them that their names “were next on the kidnappers’ list.”
‘Kidnapping’ Repudiated
She alluded presumably to associates of Ted Patrick, who acknowledges organizing “rescues” of members from the Unification Church and other sects to “deprogram” them from “brainwashing.”
Outside, Mr. Sheeran denied that he had been contacted by kidnappers or that he ever would consider having his children kidnapped. He acknowledged talking to two young women who had been “deprogramed,” but said, “I wouldn’t kidnap because I believe in free people.” His daughters’ fear of kidnapping is a further evidence of brainwashing, he asserted.
The sandy‐haired, blue‐eyed sisters, who resemble each other, sat at a long table, along with Mr. Tully, in a room jammed with reporters and television equipment. The conference was interrupted repeatedly by some of the reporters who shouted objections to limits placed on questioning.
One of the outbursts occurred after one of the daughters had been asked about her efforts to finance the church, and a church leader declared, “That is not relevant to the issue at hand.”
Funds Are Explained
Col. Bo Hi Pak, Mr. Moon’s chief associate, said later that most of the money came from contributing members, said to number two‐million worldwide.
Shotguns made at one of the church’s businesses in South Korea are for “recreation purpose,” he asserted and, answering another question, he said Mr. Moon owned a mansion and yacht “because all the members want him to—I want him to.”
After the news conference Mr. Sheeran, who was with his wife and 14‐year‐old son Jim, challenged church leaders to let his daughters come out to see him. He spurned an offer to meet them inside the center and then won his demand with a brief reunion on the steps of the church center.
The young women embraced their parents and had a brief discussion about whether they were or were not brainwashed. As the confrontation drew to a close, young Jim began to cry. “We don’t want you in our family matters,” he told a Moon follower who invited them in.
Before the reunion, church leaders sought to discourage reporters from talking to Mr. Sheeran. They told those gathered around him shortly before the conference that they would not be admitted after 1 P.M.
As the reporters interviewed Mr. Sheeran after the conference, leaders brought out a man they described as happy about his daughter’s church membership and said he was available for interviews.

toughest 10/10 ed had no right to make me want to spin around in my room during the chorus of such a sad song
moving 10000/10 forget everything I said before, THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG
my overall thoughts
Ok, so the album is really good. There's not one song that I disliked, all of them are really good. I can't wait for him to go on tour so I can listen to them live
This album made me feel so calm, it reminded of the day my grandpa died, I was awake for more. them 24 hours, and started to have an anxiety attack, the only thing that calmed me down was putting on headphones and listening to ed sheeran, because his songs always calm me down, no matter what. I have been going trough depression recently and it had been a long time since I felt this calm, this album reminded that I'm not alone on this depression battle and that there are better days to come.
General album note: 10/10

COMPLETED - This is one of my latest commission pieces that I've been working on, it is none other than a miniature replica of one of Ed Sheeran's guitars and this one is called "Cyril"... Previously I made "Nigel" too which was immensely fun to make and I now feel like somehow I'll end up making the whole set of 5 (I think it is, correct me if I'm wrong...) If the commission comes in, I'd be doing it 😂 it's also weird because this is an example of how my artwork teaches me about things I previously had no idea about... I feel like I could probably apply to go on master mind now with the specialist subject being Ed Sheeran's guitars, specifically Nigel and Cyril... all because I've had to do all the research.... 🤣 I've included some reference photos I used to make this guitar so you can see a comparison with the real thing! #guitar #miniaturesofinstagram #Cyril #edsheeran #music #smallguitar #strings #commission #stand #sheeran #guitarstand #miniaturesculpture #miniatureart #sheeranguitars #artist #glassjar #dioramamaker #sculptor #sculptureart #musicalinstrument #scalemodel #dicipline #scratchbuilt #art #famousguitars #allinthedetails #artistoninstagram #thisweekindioramas #craftsmanship https://www.instagram.com/p/CjGS_DnDXMQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
