Adam update

“Imma go test da shellcycle out, do a quick joyride ‘round the area.” He told Adam.

Adam stopped his washing. He stared at the shellcycle. If he wanted to see how it was to be on one while it was moving, this was pretty much his only time left. The next time, they’d need the sleep, and the next morning they’d be off to the farm. It had to be tonight.

“What?” Raph asked him, pulling him out of his reverie. “Yer lookin’ at it like somethin’s wrong.”

He looked at Raph before averting his eyes. He bit his lip softly as he tried to find the courage. This wasn’t just going to the rooftop with all of them. This would be driving in the middle of everyone, with cars and people all around, visible in the lighting for all to see. They wouldn’t be able to just hide in the shadows if something happened. And it would be just the two of them. But he had to, otherwise he’d be stuck learning to drive at the farm from nothing, and then he would have to use his own cycle to drive in the city everytime.

He took a deep breath and pulled out his shellcell.

“Can I join you?” He sheepishly asked.

Raph stared at him for a few seconds before chuckling.

“Don, ya son of a rat. Ya totally called it.” He said to no one. “Ya wanna come on ma shellcycle with me? Out in da city?” He then asked him to be certain.

Adam nodded ever so slightly.

“Nan.” Raph replied.

That’s why I laugh when people try to play the Raph bullies his brother crap.

I'm gonna be so real, I honest think that people who think Raph (or Mikey) is a bully to his brothers just...don't have siblings.

Like, don't get me wrong, I recognize sibling abuse is a thing, but I really don't think that's what's going on with them. Do Raph and Mikey go to far sometimes? Well, yeah, they're not perfect and me and my siblings went to far sometimes too.

I legit once told someone that if he touched or talked to my brother again I was gonna put his head through a brick wall. And I once scared my brother so badly he cried.

My sister one time put one of those big rubber maid tubs on top of me and sat on it and I had to physically lift her and the tub and knock her over to get out. I also drove her around while she was job searching.

Those kinds of things are just part of growing up with siblings.

And when it comes to Mikey his love language wrassling. Raph knows this. Mikey knows that Raph knows this. So almost all of the time when Mikey is messing with Raph what he's actually doing is inviting him to play in a way that allows Raph to maintain his bad boy image.

Now, does Raph need this image? Arguably not because all his brothers know he's actually a teddy bear, but nonetheless it is important to Raph to have that image and so his brothers let him have it. Leo does this by letting him pull stunts like jumping the Shellcycle out of the back of a moving Battleshell, Donny does this by making sure they're on their own before he pulls the "I know something's going and you need to talk to me" card, and Mikey does this by instigating "fights".

Normally, I don't like the whole "Mikey is like a puppy" kind of take that can go around because he's the "happy sunshine one" or "No thoughts head empty/golden retriever energy" can be reductive of his character. But Mikey does play like a puppy, he wants to wrassle with his litter mates and he knows that Raph is going to be the most willing to engage in that play, he's just gotta be clever about how he asks.

Something I think about every once in a while is how Casey says to Raph in his very first episode that he's "savin' these looks for Hollywood" and while I'm aware he was being sarcastic, it does make me think about Theatre Kid Casey.

Casey who was always tall and broad shouldered for his age, who was a bit clumsy at times, and not always the most articulate, who despite his obvious passion, never got a role in a single school play.

Who eventually accepted that being the best stage hand would have to be enough and tried to convince himself of just that. That being in the shadows, but still on stage some who was enough. But secretly fantasized about the choir teacher suggesting he try out and vouching for his singing voice. Just like Chrinstine. Y'know. Minus the stalker.

But slowly and without even realizing, he gives up on his dream of singing and performance, he gets a hockey scholarship instead and continues on with his life. Till an injury ends his career before it can even take off. And even then life goes on, maybe he picks up a guitar and tries to get into music as a bit of self therapy, but still doesn't do much with it.

It's not really until he's hanging out with Raph and Donny working on the shellcycle and their other vehicles that he really ever thinks about it again. Or rather isn't thinking about it and is comfortable enough and focused enough on what he's doing to let go and sing along with whatever's playing on the radio and throwing his whole heart into it.

The song ends and he finally notices Raph and Don staring at him slackjawed, and the self consciousness comes crashing down on him, he starts apologizing for being loud, for being obnoxious, he won't do it again and Raph cuts off his self conscious and depreciating embarrassed rant with a shocked, "Don't apologize, Case. That was incredible."

Even when he loses he has to gloat "Hey, remember that total wipeout victory I had over you?"

"Argh! That Bishop! He's such an asshole!"

"Guys, do you think Bishop will miss this train cart?"

"Guys, Turtles Express?"

Oh, he will find a way. They know better than to stand in the way of Donnie's Villain Vehicle Acquisition Project

"So, Donnie, how did you get the train cart to the Lair?"

"Glad you asked, Leo. I took advantage of the train cart's hydraulics and the corpse of the Shellcycle to"

Which of your TMayNT pieces were your favorites to do?

Do you have any favorite TMayNT posts you've seen from others?

Probably the one i did for days 13 and 29, Best Don and Favorite Alt Outfit/Design! I just like the layout of how those images turned out, and If I had more time I'd love to make them into finished pieces one day. (I also enjoyed my piece for Day 6, any day I get to draw Leatherhead, its a good day!)

As from other people, gunna be real, I didn't pay too much attention to other folk's posts, tho I think if I had to choose a fav or two, probably @tuatara-time's post for Day 21 and @annaliearts's post for Day 12! Both have great art! tuatara's in particular actually made me laugh, Shredder doing a vogue cover pose in heels is just god tier! And I ENVY Anna's art so much! All of their work is stellar but the way they were able to draw the Shellcycle makes me wanna scream! IT'S SOOOO GOOD!

current obsessions(s): im back to obsessing over urban design theory... but there's also fragrance samples, püha ja õudne lõhn/sacred and terrible air, and twin peaks. pathologic is slowly coming back bc of twin peaks (along with september creeping up) and also bc i finally played marble nest somewhat recently :)
