Y/n laughed, shoving her phone in her pocket. “Sorry, there’s a crisis at my job and my friends are idiots.” She sighed, running a hand over her face. Nejire nodded in sympathy, as Uraraka scrolled through her messages. “We’ve got to get movin Nejire, if we’re any later Bakugo said that Dabi guy would fry our asses.” Uraraka mumbled, showing the bluenette her phone. Y/n tilted her head in contemplation, before speaking. “Are you talking about Dabi of LOV?” She asked, as Nejire turned Uraraka’s screen toward her. At Bakugo’s text, Y/n let out a laugh as she patted their arms. “That’s where I work!” She smiled, motioning toward the parking lot. “You and your friends must be the new interns.” Ochaco nodded, scrambling to shove her phone in her purse. “No need to worry, they won’t fire you.” Y/n smiled making her way toward her car. “Just stick with me and you’ll be fine.” Nejire and Uraraka shared a look, both silently wondering just how much pull their new friend had at this company. They had so many questions, that needed answers. The first being, the complete backstory behind the Todoroki incident.

SUMMARY: shigaraki guided you gently to escape your painfully gray life and in its place join him in the search of a world of chaos and pain.

GENRE: modern au (which has almost nothing to do with bnha, so there shouldn't be spoilers here), strangers to friends to lovers.

ALSO, I'm using a scene from Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! to start because I think it's painfully beautiful, but I do not own the scene and I will highlight it so it isn't mistaken as an appropriation of the scene.

PRESENT

The fireworks shone beautifully, lighting up the dark blue sky with bright colors one after another. It was your favorite part of the new year's celebration since you were able to remember. The stars accompanied the fireworks and the moon, and Shigaraki Tomura accompanied you in the green, green grass.

The silence between the two of you felt comfortable. It wasn't awkwardness the reason why there was no space for a conversation, no. It was admiration. It wasn't like him to take the time to look up at the sky, especially in this kind of situation. Not only was he too busy to take part in a sort of ritual like this one, but he had also said himself, '"It wasn't his scene".

This time, though, he had taken the time to join you in one of the only activities that humanity presented that he knew you loved.

He shifted, placing both his hands behind his head without taking his eyes off of the show above him, and said to himself -probably not even aware of what he was saying- 'It's beautiful'

'When I go, I want to go out just as beautifully.'

He looked at you, your eyes filled with visible yearning, not tearing themselves from the bright sky.

'I'd really prefer if you didn't go at all.'

After being unanswered, your boyfriend stood up, walked up to you, and hovered over you, pinning your hands full down by your wrists with his own, carefully minding not to hurt you with his quirk

'Please don't say stuff like that, even as a joke' he said with a dark voice.

For anyone else, this would've been a laughable sight to see. The great Shigaraki Tomura, the feared Shigaraki Tomura, begging his partner not to take their life, even as a joke. For them, on the other hand, it wasn't a laughing matter. Especially since it was in no way a joke.

The close proximity was intimating, the eye contact, piercing, and the silence, terrifying and painful. No, it was in no way a joke. You were both aware of your past, and of your promise to each other.

'I won't die just yet'.

'Good.'

Your voices came out in almost a whisper. You tried to peel your eyes away, but his red orbs drew you in, making you unable to move. Shigaraki seemed to feel the same way. His eyes became lidded, and he lowered his face, pressing his lips against yours. You closed your eyes, returning the kiss.

He let go of your right hand, which immediately locked itself in his hair, and his hand, now free and grabbing you by the chin, opened your mouth a little further, slithering his tongue inside of your hole, carefully clashing against your own.

His other hand, that hadn't until now let go of yours, extended your arm to guide it on his shoulder. You felt something warm and liquid roll down your face. You had thought it was drool from the passionate kiss, and only realised that they were, in truth, tears falling from your eyes when Shigaraki broke the kiss when the tears reached the hand that was placed on your cheek.

He didn't say anything. He looked at you, sighed, and pressed your foreheads together in silence as you cried.

A YEAR AND A HALF AGO

Head, crestfallen, covered by a hoodie. Hands in the pockets. Ears covered by headphones. Brain numbed by The Neighborhood music, RIP 2 my youth now blasting through them, you walked through the crowded halls of the damaged building, which were sporadically emptied as you approached the door of your dormitory. Heart empty, heavy deep in your chest.

As you opened the door and walked into the threshold, the sounds coming out of your roommate's room drowned out your silence. She could never be bothered to even put a sock on the door, or craft a warning message through text. Instead, you were forced to either leave the small dorm room or bear the sounds Rachel and whatever lady friend she might have over for the night would make.

This time you left, closing the door with a loud slam. Not on purpose. At least not consciously.

You walked on the sidewalk. Someone groped your ass and disappeared before you were able to fight back to them. Someone else would've said that today was something of a bad day. Or "crappy day", as Rachel, your roommate, would always say. For you, though, there was no such thing as a good day. There hadn't been for years. You couldn't say exactly when it started, just that at some point happiness had been drained out of your system. There was no particular reason. The life you had led until now, and it would forever be, gray. Colourless, dull. Empty, and for some some time it had even become bleak. These weren't thoughts currently in your mind, though they were recurrent. No. Now there were only thoughts of pain coursing through you. The feeling of helplessness given to you by the person who walked down the street, and just casually grabbed something that didn't belong to them. Something that belongs to someone else. That someone was you. The feeling of being unsafe in the middle of the street, a target for perverts, was something that you had accepted quite a while ago, but hadn't quite assimilated. Or maybe you had, you just threw the sentiments away in an attempt of self-preservation.

Panic taking over your body, your hands flew to your head, covering your head, knees now touching your shoulders as you crouched to the ground and cradled yourself. Random people passing, looking at you but ignoring you, and even avoiding you. Walking around you in a disfigured circle.

Since the tears streamed down your face and the urge to scream grew inside of you, you didn't notice the commotion until a shadow hovered over you.
