DarkFlow: Insane Circus

Wednesday 13 - Horrifier The idea of “shock-rock” is nothing new, especially when it’s been a thing since the early 1960s, but popularized by Alice Cooper in the mid-70s, namely 1975′s masterpiece Welcome To My Nightmare. Certain bands and artists incorporate elements of shock-rock from all walks of rock and metal, including Rob Zombie, Korn, Slipknot, Cannibal Corpse, and a lot more, but a band like Wednesday 13 takes on good old-fashioned 70s shock-rock. I’ve heard of Wednesday 13, who is also the name of the band’s frontman and main member, but I never listened to them before. I just knew they were a shock-rock band, and their sound was really spooky and Halloween-inspired, so hearing a new album from them in the beginning of October should be a great idea, right? Well, yes and no, but first and foremost, their new album, Horrifier, is a pretty good album. I enjoy it quite a bit, but it’s got some issues, namely that it’s just super generic. If you like Alice Cooper and/or Rob Zombie, you’ll like this album, but that’s all I can tell you. There are some nice moments, a song about the late Joey Jordison and his late mother, as well as songs about the Halloween franchise and the movie Christine, but the generic songs about Halloween itself, or spooky things, don’t do anything for me, especially a song like “You’re So Hideous,” which has some weirdly misogynistic lyrics, but the instrumentation is at least good. That’s how I’d describe most of this album, too; the instrumentation is good, albeit generic, but the lyrics range from pretty decent to being outright awful. I just don’t have much of a desire to return to the album because of that. At leats the album is really short, only 39 minutes, so it’s not a long record, but if you’re willing to sit through a lot of generic tropes within shock-rock, you’ll be okay with this album. On the surface, the album isn’t half bad, and even when you dig into it, it’s still not bad, and it’s even kind of catchy here and there, but it’s just really bland. It’s like, why listen to this album you can just listen to Rob Zombie or Alice Cooper? I’d rather just listen to Cooper’s Welcome To My Nightmare or Rob Zombie’s Hellbilly Deluxe, because those will give me a better reaction. This isn’t horrible, but it’s also nothing noteworthy, either.

Some reunions, like Naruto and Lee, are filled with happy hugs and warm welcomes.
Others...not so much.
Ino and Sakura's reunion...yeah it doesn't go great.
Sakura had been invited back into her mother's estranged family after her accident, but on the way through Tea Country, the caravan had been attacked by bandits/dissidents and Sakura ended up jumping into a river to save herself.
Her body was never found, and she was considered dead. She has an empty grave right beside her mother's and father's in Konoha.
Ino, Naruto and Lee were devastated. Ino, in particular, was inconsolable. She'd just made up with her friend and they'd been struggling to find footing after Sakura's accident, so to get the news of her death crushed Ino.
She'd felt so guilty, fighting over stupid things like boys, all the dumb insults they'd leveled at each other, and her helplessness at Sakura's condition ate at her for a long time. Ino threw herself into the job and she left flowers at Sakura's grave every Sunday for a year (and her parents did it for her when she was on missions) before finally beginning to heal.
To learn that Sakura was alive the entire time, that she didn't care enough to send Ino a single letter...that she just let Ino go through all that heart-wrenching grief is a betrayal that Ino can't suffer. It's like having that wound, only just now scarring over, be torn open and salted.
She spent a year mired in grief, and the next three trying to mend the hole Sakura's death left in her life. And to have all of that history, friendship and grief disrespected... Ino doesn't talk to Sakura for almost 7 months.
As for Sakura, she was in such a depression after her accident, she managed to convince herself that she didn't matter to any of her old friends (especially because it was so awkward and difficult to find common footing with everyone after being honorably discharged). So she made the mistake of assuming no one cared, almost as a method of protecting herself from the consequences of her own decisions.
This bites her in the ass, ofc.
Eventually, they enter a 'cold but civil' relationship when Sakura makes a sincere, heartfelt (and groveling) apology. After that, the walls come down, but their friendship won't ever take the same form as it did before, but maybe that's for the better.
Their new friendship is much stronger.
Once again, thank you so much to everyone for all the amazing asks and the incredibly kind words about this AU!

the new ride kamens character is jo, and he's... blood stark and night rogue? he's got the blood stark visor and color, but he's got bat wings which is definitely night rogue, not what i would've expected, i would've thought we'd get evol and kr rogue first as separate characters, but hey, dan kuroto and blood stark are some of my top faves of all time villains, so i'm not complaining
heck YES look at this steam-powered and yet somehow cyberpunky batman. he's awesome! 🦇 and honestly given that the popular guess for him was Night Rogue, I think it's pretty funny that he ended up being (mostly) the other Faust guy (I admit I usually associate him with the Evol form and...kind of forgot about Blood Stalk a little bit. :')
augh I am so BEHIND on drawing the Wisdom Thinks guys, hold on let me fix this

also I really hope they get way into the nitty-gritty of them running the lounge. nothing is funnier to me than Dramatic Action Superheroes having to take time out of their day to balance their business ledger and figure out the employee rotation for the week and stress about scheduling their upcoming food safety inspection. it's great.

Servers: The Vertical Plane
Aujourd'hui sur Blog à part – Servers: The Vertical Plane The Vertical Plane, de Servers, est un concept-album de stoner inspiré par « l'affaire Dodleston », un mystère à l’authenticité douteuse datant de 1985. #stoner #shockrock
