Casino dresscode gave Joker the perfect excuse to stare at Commander. The whole, of course pyjack, not only separate parts.

As a scout player I know how easy it is to get caught up in the middle of a swarm, but what about Gunner? Has Driller ever needed to save him as well?
not usually battle related but sometimes Gunner suffers from heart palpitations, and Driller is the only one strong enough to hold him up. However if you question Gunner about this, he will deny there's anything wrong with his heart.
Reminder from MC to take your heart meds!!!! (or any meds for that matter!)

This is it. This is the rewrite I've been working on for the last three years. It's about 40,000 words longer, and it packs in so many more emotions.
Back in 2013 I wanted to skim past the parts of the canon story that I was alright with, to get to the parts I wanted to change. It short-changed the emotional experiences of the characters, which is what we're really all here for anyway. This is what happened when I let them have that space. The first few chapters were only slightly changed — the kind of finessing that happens when you come back to writing after several years — but eventually whole new scenes, and even chapters, come in, and then I set the ship (the literal ship) up to head in a different direction.
Sunset and Evening Star is a Mass Effect fic starting between the events of Arrival and the beginning of ME3, and the sequel to my slow-burn Shoker fic A Star to Steer Her By.
So many thanks to @swaps55 for being my beta and cheerleader for the years it took to get to this point. Now to write the next part.

a little tired of people acting like a dispassionate relationship renders all participants incapable of joy by default. like, sure, louis is clearly depressed (shoker, I know), and if his relationship with armand is anything like the book armand is currently sinking into a depressive episode as well because he feels neglected, unloved, and invisible, but. they are still together. and they've been together in relative stability for, like, 70 years. yeah they both post-factum describe the period as a dark one, but one of the main reasons why relationships like this survive for that long is the fact that they are ultimately comfortable. what I'm saying is: louis and armand are a boring weird married couple. they understand each other well simply by virtue of being together for so long. they have their comfortable little routine. they have their little dates. they go to museums together. they keep up with modern art. they discuss their thoughts on it. they watch movies and shows together. they read on the same couch, in complete silence, for hours, maybe just legs intertwined. yes they have not fucked in 30 years yes they have not had a honest discussion of their emotions in 50 yes they moreso coexist than live together but. they still cuddle on the couch once a week while watching a new documentary.

challenge for all you shakarians
Listen okay so I've been in the ME fandom a long-ass time. Like, actual BioWare writers frequenting the LiveJournal community long.
So, whilst Shoker is my ship, I have been known to at least understand Shakarian from time to time, and I know a lot of you fools also obsessed with a decade plus old series like I am do, too.
I see a lot of excellent Shakarian art where it's like, Garrus is cuddling Shepard or like smooshing his giant face into them or something, or doing spicy stuff to them clutching their thighs - it's always him doing stuff to them - and it's all very passionate and excellent and as a monsterfucker myself I do get it
but I have a spicy challenge for you Shakarian artists because this is sorely terribly lacking in your field and for the life of me I do not understand why
Never, not once in my long journeys, have I ever seen art where Garrus is just getting his mind absolutely goddamn obliterated. Where he's got his long neck thrown back onto the points of his crest and the pupils of his half-lidded eyes are contracted to pinpoints in shock and amazement, his mandibles are just quivering, splayed open wide because of the sheer magic of human lips. Turian cartilage flaps cannot do that. He has never been more alive and more destroyed in a single moment in his life. He is having an out of body experience. He is one lick away from a cardiac fucking event but in a good way. He is completely physically useless at this moment - he is putty in Shepard's hands and mouth. The only thing he can do is shake and let his subvocals loose in the deepest approximation of an orgasmic purr you can imagine. Garrus is getting it done to him, he is not doing anything but getting done.
I submit this for your consideration
