[Shotadori wants master Sukuna's praises, but he messes up all day]

Yuji Itadori | Jujutsu Kaisen Historical AU 28-05-2023

Yuji really likes living on the King Of Curse's domain.

He likes the people working here, everyone is usually pretty nice to him. He quite like Uraume, even if they can be really strict and scary at times.

He likes Choso and his brothers who were assigned to taking care of him specifically. They are fun to play and train with, especially since not many people want to play with him.

He likes wandering around the large estate in which he can go wherever he wants, contrary to some other people. It even reaches into the forest and mountains surrounding it (although he's not allowed in those by himself, he's "too young" to go. He's ten already, he can go by himself!!)

He really like Sukuna too.

He keeps hearing people who are scared of him and that he's a cruel, cold man. But Yuji couldn't disagree any more. Sure, he was a bit scared at first when he saw the curse, but it's because he's huge! really really tall and his body looks so strong.

And sure, the curse can be mean at times when he won't stop teasing and making fun of him, calling him a brat as if he didn't have an actual name.

But he was also really nice. Even if the curse seems to like quietness when he sits around and/or read, he'll let Yuji sit with him and babble about whatever comes to mind. Sometimes he'll play Go or Shogi with him (although Yuji always loses, Sukuna never gives him a chance).

When Yuji has nightmares and wanders around to calm himself down Sukuna will somehow always find him and let him sleep in his bed.

But those things don't happen every day, since Sukuna can be often busy and Yuji has a lot of chores and lessons to follow. This is why the boy cherishes those moments event more when they happen to him.

Especially the times where Sukuna will praise him for something he did. It makes him feel really warm and happy when Sukuna has this pleased smile on his lips, looking sincere in his praises (even if he can turn a bit teasing afterwards at times). He sometimes get a bit confused when Sukuna says he'll make "a good little wife" but he always takes it happily and with pride seeing how Sukuna seems to mean it in a very good way.

Sukuna's praises and time spend with him are really precious to Yuji.

That was why when Sukuna suddenly start to let him hang around less and didn't praise him as much, Yuji started to feel anxious.

Had he done something wrong? Had his study result not been good enough for the King Of Curses? Had he done and said something to displease him?

He knew the curse could be busy at times, but he had always managed to make some time for him if Yuji wished for it.

Yuji couldn't help being scared that he would be left behind like this.

So he decided to do thing to make the curse happy about him and praise him again, or at the very least spend time with him once more.

But everything went wrong.

Yuji had decided to try and start preparing some of Sukuna's favourite snacks for when he would be back in the domain, certain it would make him pleased.

Instead, All he managed to do was creat a mess and nearly have his clothes catch on fire.

Thankfully some servants were there to help him, gently shooing him out of the kitchen, and assuring him that what he wanted to make would be ready by the time Sukuna was back.

Next Yuji tried to help clean out Sukuna's garden, but ended up messing up the flowers and plant arrangement, some other servant came to stop him, suggesting to let the gardener take care of them later on.

He decided to instead focus on his study. Maybe if he nailed his caligraphy homework, Sukuna would praise him for it. Yet, even as he tried his best, he couldn't get it very right and what had him gave up was when he spilt a lot of ink onto the paper.

He had tried washing it all away as best as he could, thinking of what he could do.

He then remembered how it was usually the day Uraume would clean their master's clothes, but hadn't done it yet since they were asked to follow Sukuna on whatever business he needed to do.

He could do the cleaning! And as a bonus, Uraume would finally see he wasn't just an annoying child anymore.

So he went to get Sukuna's laundry, grabbing the kimono has best as he could with admittedly small arms compared to the giant piece of clothing.

It was on his way to the room servant used to do the laundry that Yuji tripped and fell down. as he sat up he looked at the white fabric and suddenly his heart sank.

There were black and grey smears and handprints over it, from where Yuji had likely not properly washed away the ink.

On Sukuna's usually pristine White kimono.

On one of Sukuna's *favourite* kimonos even.

Uraume was nearly the only one allowed to clean some of them because Sukuna was strict about how he wanted them cleaned.

And now Yuji had ruined them.

Tears started gathering in Yuji's eyes, clutching at the white fabric as panic was start to rise more and more within him. He had done it, now Sukuna would hate him and would kick him out. He had heard stories about the man getting mad at people for less, of course, he would get mad that Yuji had ruined one of his favourite articles of clothing.

Shame was rising in him too, knowing that there were expectations put on him. He was expected to be someone that could help the head of the house, whatever that really meant.

Yet he couldn't cook, couldn't take care of plants and couldn't even be trusted to clean some clothes properly.

Then he heard at the end of the corridor some servant mentioning that Sukuna had entered the domain's ground, which made Yuji freeze.

He couldn't face Sukuna, he needed to hide. He didn't want to be hated by him.

He quickly gathered up the clothes again, running as best as he could to the washing room. He hide as best as he could the evidence, although it was a bit hard to do with how much fabric there was.

There he bolted out, running straight away, avoiding trees as best as he could.

He couldn't face Sukuna. He didn't want him to hate him, and he wouldn't need to face that if he hides away. Maybe he can hide long enough for him to calm down and come back and try to be forgiven.

Yuji ran until his little legs couldn't take it anymore, his lungs burning from how much he had forced himself to keep going. As he was catching his breath he realised that he had made a big mistake when running in blind.

He was lost.

Panic started rising in him once more, now unsure where to go. He had been to some parts of the woods with Choso and Sukuna before, but this wasn't familiar.

He tried going back on his track once again, so he could at least stay not too far from the estate, but to no avail.

He was lost and alone.

He couldn't help but start crying at this realisation, unsure what to do aside from calling out Choso, Uraume and Sukuna's name, hoping someone would come pick him up.

Then he heard it, something cracking behind him.

when he turned around he paled, seeing a large beast growling at him from where it was standing on a fallen tree.

Yuji's instincts were to start running as fast as he could, trying to find somewhere to hide. He ducked into a small hole under some tree roots, narrow enough that the wolf-like creature couldn't come in and deep enough so its large clawed paw couldn't reach him.

Yuji only cried harder as the Creature kept trying to reach him, circling near the entrance when he wasn't doing so.

Yuji was so terrified he couldn't tell for how long he was stuck in this situation, alternating between crying his eyes out and trying to stay as quiet as possible to be forgotten.

He hadn't realised he had fallen asleep until he woke up in a jolt, looking around panicked.

Now it was getting dark outside, no sound of a predator waiting for him at the entrance of the hole. Yet he didn't dare check it out, just in case it was waiting just out of view.

Yuji only hugged his legs closer to him, realising it was now also a lot colder than before and that he was starving too.

He couldn't help the tear welling up in his eyes as he wondered if he would die like this, hidden in the forest and forgotten here.

then he heard it.

"Yuji!" came the familiar voice of the King Of Curse, calling out his name.

"Sukuna!" Yuji immediately reacted, although he quickly slapped a hand over his mouth.

No, he couldn't be found out, Sukuna would only be mad at him. Not only had he ruined his favourite kimono, but he had broken the rule of not going into the woods all by himself and had gotten himself lost (and nearly killed).

Yet his attempt at now staying quiet was useless, since that single cry for help was enough for the curse to pinpoint where he was.

Some relief couldn't help but wash over him when he saw the man look into the hole, looking away quickly.

"What are you doing in here?" Sukuna asked, to which he only received silence, Yuji huddling closer to the farthest dirt wall.

"Come on out brat" Sukuna sighed, stretching an arm inside even if it couldn't quite reach him. "I spent all afternoon looking for you, am not leaving you here".

Something in Yuji felt warm at the thought that the curse had looked for him all this time. "I can't" Yuji still said despite that, hugging his knee closer.

"And why is that?" Sukuna asked, some annoyance slipping into his tone, only making Yuji's fears worse.

"Because I don't-I don't want to be hated b-by you" Yuji started, his sobbing starting once again.

This seemed to only make the curse confused and worried, hand still trying to grab onto him.

"And why would you think that?" he asked.

Yuji hesitated before finally telling him. Talking about how sukuna had not spent time with him lately, not praised him about anything, not really entertained any longer conversation Yuji had wanted to have with him. About how Yuji was useless and couldn't do anything right and had even ruined his favourite kimono.

The silence that came afterwards was only broken by the boy's sobs, still not looking at Sukuna.

"Yuji" the curse ended up calling out, voice softer than what Yuji had ever really heard him used. "Yuji, look at me" he called again when the boy didn't turn around.

It took a while, but Yuji did end up turning towards him, the curse looking through the entrance.

"Do I look angry at you?" he asked, voice still calm and gentle. Yuji shook his head at his question. He truly didn't look mad at the moment.

"Then there's no reason to think I will be mad at you" the curse said, "I was actually really worried when I heard you had gone missing after acting strangely all day, even more so when someone told me they thought they saw you running to the wood but couldn't find you. All I could think about was finding back my cute little tiger before he got hurt" Sukuna explained, smiling when the nickname got a smile out of Yuji.

"I am not mad about the kimono, I can get a new one, but I cannot replace my precious bride, I should have paid more attention even if I was busy" he continued.

Yuji felt really relieved about all this. If Sukuna said he wasn't going to be mad then he could believe him, right? even more, he felt really warm at the thought that he was this important to the King Of Curse, where nothing counted as much as he did.

"You look scratched-up, hungry and cold," Sukuna remarked, "why don't we go back home and take care of all that?".

Yuji still hesitated a little bit, before slowly making his way towards the entrance. He was immediately picked up by Sukuna, warms arms wrapping around his cold body.

Sukuna then carried him back to the domain, confident about where he was going, arms keeping him safe.

The servant they crossed paths with all looked relieved and happy to see him back, quickly going away when Sukuna gave them things to do.

That night Sukuna made sure to spoil Yuji a little bit, Taking a warm bath with him before patching up the cuts he had from running around the woods like this. They ate together, Yuji even allowed to sit in Sukuna's lap, two of his four arms lazily wrapped around him.

Yuji was allowed to chat about everything he had been meaning to tell him, catching up on the last weeks.

Although it was a bit short-lived, seeing how exhausted he was.

He snuggled closer to the curse as he has carried again, something he had missed too. He was surprised when he realised this was the way to the master's room.

"You are sleeping with me tonight" Sukuna stated, leaving a kiss to the top of Yuji head, which made him giggle and snuggled closer.

This was one of the best night the boy has had in days, safely wrapped in the King Of Curse arms.
