Word Count: 1,446 words
"I thought you never would break my heart like that." you said tearing up while you looked at him.
——
1 year and 6 months earlier
You were bored and looked at the supernatural edits on your feed thinking they're so cool, but you? You literally had no motivation to edit anymore.
Your account was going great not gonna lie but you kinda had enough of it.
You used to play video games a lot like in 2018, the only thing you did on weekends was playing video games. You definitely were no typical girl. You always got along better with guys then with girls, you never were into drama unless you were involved.
So you looked at your PlayStation 4 and smiled a bit, You turned the device on, looking through the communities. You were just curious and bored, so you saw some guy named Dean asking if people wanted to join him and his friend Ryan. You were shy about it at first, yeah you were an open person but you also were really closed off and careful about what you were saying.
You commented on his post and asked if they're still looking since it's like 2 hours ago. You thought you wouldn't get any response but only like 10 minutes later you got one and got invited into the party. You didn't know why but you got nervous? You pretended like you didn't see his response for the next 15 minutes. Eventually you joined and were quiet because they talked and you didn't want to interrupt anything. "Hello?" One of them said and you shyly answered hello. "My name is Ryan." The one said "I'm y/n. Nice to meet you." You said quietly adjusting your headset.
"Yeah I can tell that your name is y/n." Ryan said and you blushed, your gamer tag was having your name in it. "R-Right." you said. "So..." You said a moment later, "what are you guys playing?" You asked fiddling with the cable of your headset. "We're playing Rainbow (six siege), wanna join?" Ryan asked. "Yeah if the other one is okay with that." you said since you still didn't hear him say anything. "Oh sorry...I'm Dean." He said with a small laugh. You knew you just heard his voice, but it was so deep and he kinda had an accent, couldn't really figure out which one though.
"Nice to meet you too, Dean." You said with a smile "nice to meet you too, y/n." He said, what made you smile. "For me it's totally fine if you'll join." Dean added a moment later. "Okay, but I'm not that good though." You said honestly, you always just played for fun not for success like most gamers did. You didn't care how many kills or points you got. You just played because it was fun.
"Oh that's fine, don't worry." Ryan said and you smiled, "Okay." So they invited me to their
game and you started playing. Dean made some jokes, which were funny. Sometimes he was lost which was even funnier tho. Dean had a really deep voice which was kinda attractive. You had no idea how he looked, you couldn't imagine how both of them looked. Didn't even know where they were from.
You never were the person who had many friends, because people always were judging. You also always got along better with guys then with girls/women. They were so dramatic, always looking for something to fight or get mad about. Sooo annoying...
Anyways you kept playing for an hour or so until Ryan spoke up, "so y/n, you're single?" He asks curiously. You never had a boyfriend before and you were almost eighteen, everyone around you had a partner before, but you? You've never had sex before and for you it was so embarrassing. Even tho there was no reason to be embarrassed about it.
"Yeah, are you?" You asked back "yeah me too, guess we're the singles then." Ryan said with a laugh. "What do you mean?" You asked confused not getting it. "Oh-" he said with a laugh "Dean is in a relationship." "Oh." You said kinda feeling disappointed about it, you didn't even understand why you were so disappointed about it.
"Oh yeah, I've been in a relationship for a year now and we're going to take a trip to San Francisco." Dean said proudly. San Francisco wasn't far from where you lived, but they didn't have to know right? "That sounds cool." You said.
You didn't know why, but you felt so drawn towards him. You knew him for maybe like two hours, but you already liked him. You knew, it sounded crazy, but there was just something about him you couldn't figure out yet.
"Where are you from?" Ryan asked a few minutes later. "I'm from California, you?" You asked curiously. "We're both from Nevada." "That's nice, you guys know each other personally?" You asked curiously. "Uhm yeah we went to high school together." Ryan said. You mostly talked to Ryan, Dean probably was too focused on the game because he hardly talked or answered questions you asked both of them.
Maybe he was just someone who didn't talk with other girls because he was in a relationship. You never understood how girls could be like that, not allowing their boyfriends to talk to other girls or have female friends. Just stupid and psychotic.
"That's cool." You said and Ryan laughed. "You really only say that's cool." He said and you blushed slightly. "I don't know what to say else." You said with a laugh to cover up how embarrassed you were, even though there was no reason to be. You didn't know those people and just wasn't sure what to answer.
"So you guys going to college?" You asked curiously. "Dean is but I'm not." "And why aren't you going to college?" You asked Ryan. "Just haven't found the right way for me or what I wanna study." He said. "That's okay tho." You said. "What about you tho?" Dean asked. "I'm still in Highschool." "Wait how old are you?" "I'm 17." You said "Oh, thought you were much younger." He said with a small laugh. "How old are you then?" You asked curiously "We're both 18, but I'm turning 19 in October." Dean said. "Good to know." You said, again not sure what to say else.
"When's your birthday?" Ryan asked. "My birthday is September 4h." Yoj told them. "Mine is October 2nd." Dean said. "Mine is April 24th." Ryan said and you nodded to myself. "So your birthday was already." Yoh said. "Yes it was my 18th birthday, but couldn't really throw a party because of COVID." He said with a sigh. "Ugh that sucks." You said. "So guess Dean was the lucky one who got to celebrate his 18TH birthday last year." You said. "Yeah, but I didn't do much tho. My girlfriend, Ryan, two other friends and my step sister just were here." He said.
"But sounds chilly, just to celebrate with some people." You said. "Yeah, it really was." He said. "That's nice." You said with a smile, even though they couldn't see it.
After some time you started playing the game 'the forest' which was kinda like Minecraft. It definitely was a relaxing game tho. You didn't have to concentrate too much, had to log trees to build something, which was really cool. You liked that game a lot.
You started playing and fought against the monsters that appeared sometimes. Dean turned on some music, mostly Juice WRLD, you loved that artist so much. You kinda started to get comfortable, already? You only talked to them for like three hours, but you thought they're really sympathetic.
You checked the time and saw it was already 1:30am and you had to wake up early because you had theory lessons in driving school. "Guys?" You spoke up a moment later. "Yeah?" They both said. "I think I'm going offline." You said. "What why?" Dean said. "Because I have to wake up early." "I have to wake up early too." Dean said. "Yeah but I have driving school, we could play tomorrow, if you want to." "Oh come on y/n, stay for a bit longer." Ryan said. "Bro, we can play tomorrow." You said with a laugh. "Alright fine." He said. "Goodnight." You said and they said it back.
You turned your PlayStation 4 off and went on TIKTOK for 10 to 20 minutes before actually going to sleep. You put my phone away and went to sleep.

~December 5th~
Y/N hurried towards her friends who were already settled at the very top of the mountain, their snowboards and skiis all lined up in a perfect row.
"Last one down pays for dinner." One of them suggested to which they all unanimously agreed to.
"3, 2, Go!"
The racers all started sloping down the snowy mountain, some going to different directions, but ultimately they were all headed south. Y/N shifted her weight to keep balance on her snowboard. Usually she'd show off and do a trick, but right now she was focused on getting down as fast as possible.
"Pick up the pace Y/N!" Her friend teased as they swooped right past her.
Y/N let out a snort as she leaned forward to get more speed and traction. She also decided to move more to the right, where she knew a shortcut that none of the others knew about. She let out a small chuckle at the thought of their faces when they saw her all the way down there.
Her smile faded fast when she saw someone step out right in front of her, a dark haired male that seemed preoccupied with taking a picture he didn't notice she was coming.
"Look out!" She shouted, finally getting his attention.
The boy froze and seemed unable to move. Y/N swerved to the left, a little too fast and ended up falling off her board, tumbling down a few feet before landing on a bed of snow. She groomed softly as she lifted her head, already feeling the aching of her muscles.
"Are you ok?!" The same man who had inadvertently caused her accident ran over and helped her sit up.
"I...think so?" She asked rather than answered.
She quickly stood up, taking off her googles and winter hat to try and inspect what damage had been done not only to her body but to her board. She dusted some of the snow off her and looked up to find the mystery man looking at her intently.
"What? Am I bleeding?" She touched her face and forehead, not a stranger to bleeding due to some of the accidents she'd been through.
"No! Not at all!! Just......"
He smiled shyly, dimples clearly shown on his cheeks as his eyes formed small crescents.
"You're really pretty..." He confessed awkwardly, leaving her baffled and speechless.
"Th-thank you....you're pretty handsome yourself..." She tucked some hair behind her ear.
"I'm San." He introduced himself, holding out a hand for her to take, which she promptly did.
"I'm Y/N."
You were sad that you had to pay for your friend's dinner because you lost, but you weren't to sad because San asked you out for a date the next day.

~January 12, One Year Later~
"Brrr. It's freezing out there."
San shook the snow off him, placing his boots on the corner.
"I told you it was going to snow, but you don't listen." She rolled her eyes at him.
Adding marshmallows to the hot chocolate, she picked them up and set them down on the table in front of the fireplace, then proceeded to wrap one of the blankets around herself. San wasted no time in cuddling up next to her and taking one of the mugs in his hand, sipping slowly so as to not burn himself. Smiling sweetly at her, he scooted closer to her, his head resting on her shoulder.
"Remember when we met last year?" He suddenly spoke.
Y/N nearly spat her chocolate back into the mug.
"Ahhh yes. You mean when I nearly killed you?"
San laughed softly at that.
"Never in my life did I think I'd actually end up dating my almost murderer."
She rolled her eyes at that.
"You were the idiot that wasn't paying attention." She reminded him.
"I was trying to take a picture of a bunny that was nearby thank you. Which you scared off by the way."
They began reminiscing about their times after a year of dating, laughing about their first fight, their first kiss and the times they met each other's respective parents.
"You looked terrified of my dad."
"How was I supposed to be calm? Especially after he said he wanted to talk to me in private?" San defended himself.
Y/N hummed softly.
"What did he talk to you about anyway?"
San shrugged softly.
"The usual...like...if I broke your heart, he was going to break my balls."
Y/N actually slapped her knee at that one, knowing fully well her father would really be the type to say such things.
San scratched the back of his head as he wondered if he should say the next part.
"He.....also asked....... if I loved you...."
Y/N felt her heart drop at that word. Even though they had been dating for a year, they had never said the L word. She wanted to change the subject, afraid of his answer, but curiosity got the better of her and she had to ask.
"What....what did you tell him?" She fidgeted with the ends of her hoodie.
San shifted so he sat in front of her. Taking her hands in his, he confessed:
"I told him I loved you with all my heart and that.....I hoped you felt the same way..."
He looked at her with hopeful eyes, gulping slightly, afraid that his feelings weren't reciprocated. When Y/N didn't respond for a minute, he let out a defeated sigh.
"All right. I understand." He made move to get up, but Y/N made him stay in place.
"No silly. I was just shocked you actually told my father that." She explained.
"Well I wasn't going to lie. I do love you Y/N, truly I do." His voice sounded desperate at this point.
Y/N teared up and pulled him into a tight embrace.
"Oh Sannie.....I love you too."
San widened his eyes at her words, he felt himself tearing up as well, but he was filled with warmth at the thought that she felt the same, it was not a one sided love. He couldn't help himself as he cupped her face and began pecking her lips repeatedly.
"I love you. I love you with all my heart."
He giggled as he intensified his kisses, turning them from small pecks into more heated and passionate lip locks that had her craving for more. San ended up pushing her onto the floor, his hands placed on either side of her face. They both looked at each other, both wanting to ask the same question but too shy to actually speak out about having their first time right then.
"Y/N.....if you don't want to, we can-"
She silenced him by pulling him on top of her and resuming their makeout session.
"I want to. Go ahead." She assured him.
San kissed her forehead.
"I love you so much."

~December 25, 3 years later~
All of the boys gathered around the tree, already ecstatic at the thought of opening their presents.
"I'm really looking forward to Yeosang's gift for me." Mingi bounced in his seat.
"I told you. I got you socks." Yeosang repeated for the thousandth time, making everybody burst out laughing.
"You know you're just joking Sangie." Wooyoung pinched his cheek, much to Yeosang's dismay.
The clock struck midnight, signaling that it was now time to open presents. There was a lot of noises, squealing and rustling of paper heard, the latter all discarded near the floor, soon picked up by Seonghwa, who hated seeing litter scattered about.
"Perfect for you Hwa. I actually got you a broom and dustpan set." Hongjoong snickered as he held out the cleaning supplies from the house to his friend.
"Shut up." Seonghwa groaned, not at all amused by the joke.
"Calm down. I actually got you something else." Hongjoong held out the actual gift, which turned out to be Toothless slippers and bathrobe set. It made Seonghwa burst out laughing, donning his infamous awkward smile.
"Yah! What is this Kang Yeosang?!" Mingi held out a box full of assorted socks.
Yeosang merely shrugged.
"What? You all laughed and joked that I wasn't serious. Jokes on you bitches. I was dead serious." Yeosang sipped his tea as he stared Mingi down, who merely pouted.
"Look on the bright side Mingi. Yunho might stop complaining about you stealing his socks." Seonghwa patted his shoulder.
"It's not me!" Mingi retorted.
"No one else's feet but yours fit in them!" Yunho accused him.
Y/N and San just laughed and decided to just enjoy the presents they got for each other. Y/N was happy that San liked his presents, but she was saving the best for last, knowing he was going to go wild about it.
Pulling him outside, she closed the door behind them both, ignoring the chaos going on inside.
"If it's another mistletoe trick, I won't mind." San was already puckering his lips.
"No silly....there's another present I wanted to give you."
"Oh?" San tilted his head.
She pulled out a small and thin white box that had a purple ribbon wrapped around it. San shook it near his ear, trying to guess what was in it, but had no clue. He carefully unwrapped the ribbon and opened the box. He had to do a double take as he peered into the contents. He looked at his lover with wide eyes.
"Is this....?" He asked for confirmation.
She nodded and chuckled happily. San's face lit up and he picked her up, spinning her around as he kissed the side of her head.
"Oh my God! This is the best Christmas present ever my love! Thank you!"
Tears of joy started streaming down his face as he embraced the love of his life for a long time. He wasted no time in speeding back inside the house and wave the object around for everyone to see.
"Guys! We're having a baby! You're all gonna be uncles!"

~December 5, Present Day~
San and Y/N made sure the carrier was covered fully by the long and thick blanket. After making sure it was sunny, San opened the door and allowed his sweetheart to walk out. Y/N carefully walked down the steps of the cabin they always stayed in since the day they met. San followed after her, one step behind her, ready to help if she needed anything.
They both looked at each other and smiled. Y/N put the carrier gently down on the blanket of snow as San took out his camera.
"Ready." San gave her the ok sign.
Y/N peeled back the blanket covering the carrier, revealing their tiny 4 month old baby daughter, who was now wide awake and observing her surroundings.
"Smile snowflake." San took a picture of her.
Light snow started to fall around them and the tiny baby reached her hand out to touch this new object that was foreign to her. A tiny snowflake fell on her nose and she sneezed softly when it made contact with her skin.
Her parents couldn't help but coo at how lovely and adorable she was. Picking her up along with several blankets, Y/N showed off the view to her.
"Look darling. This is the exact spot daddy and I met years ago."
San chuckled as he kept taking photos of his two most precious treasures in his life. After getting his fill, he walked up next to Y/N, poking his daughter's cheek.
"Even though you were born in summer, I'm sure you'll learn to love the winter just as much as we do."
The baby continued to be fascinated by the falling snow around her, her arms flailing into the air, trying to catch it, only to fall in confusion every time it melted in her tiny hand.
"I say she already loves it." Y/N noticed her reactions.
"I'm glad she does. I can't wait to bring her here every year to watch the first snow fall every time." San kissed her tiny head before looking back at his wife and repeating the action on her forehead.
"I love you. And I love our precious snowflake too."

Read the Previous Chapter.
===================
NYC, May 2023
Jasmine was blowing up your phone as you were trying to get dressed.  You had to search for it under the pile of clothes on your bed.
You had procrastinated getting ready, trying to finish one of your applications for a summer internship at this law firm in Harlem that you were excited about.
You wanted to finally relax after finishing Columbia law in the top 10% of your class. You just wanted to relax and enjoy this weekend.
Craig, your mom and your uncle were the only ones to attend your graduation.  They knew you didn’t want any fanfare, so your famous friends didn’t attend, and they had a show to do, but they’d sent you tons of well wishes.
We're coming up, get decent!
You chuckled and shook your head. Anthony usually raided the refrigerator when he came over. This time, you told him to bring his own snacks..
You slipped on what you were wearing for the night.  Craig was in his room getting ready and you had volunteered his place, so you were playing hostess. You were surprised that he was so chill about it, actually.
“Pika Pika,” you said to yourself in the mirror then ran to answer the doorbell. It was almost 6 pm.
You opened the door for Cookie Monster and Big Bird.  You burst out laughing. But you stopped when you saw Anthony's face. He had like five bags from Whole Foods that he was juggling in his blue arms.
"Jazzy!!!! There's my girl.  Hey Ant! leave the food and your girl. We may run off together."
Anthony came in the door loaded down with bags and kissed you on the cheek.
“I love you Lindy, but fuck you man.” You punched him on the shoulder.
“Ow! Time to get this party started!”
Linden heard Jazzy’s Brooklyn accent turn into a London lilt as she started play fighting with Ant. They felt like family at this point.
=================
Ever since the launch party in January, Jasmine had pursued you as a friend persistently. You normally didn’t let anyone in because of the circumstances of your life, but Jas was oblivious to your awkwardness with normal human beings.
“Girl, you are fucking DOPE, and you are NOT gonna deny my love.  I know your life has been a trip, and you don’t have to tell me all of it, but I’m not gonna let you shrivel up and be a little retiring wallflower. Life is to be lived.”
Jasmine telling you that during a Saturday brunch date in February was the key to your heart. She drew you out, and you didn’t see what value you added to her life.
But she loved you anyway. And you loved her, and of course, Anthony was part of the package.
He was beautiful, loud, talented, and reckless, but he reminded you too fucking much of Dell to be annoyed with him very long.
Your circle had certainly widened from just Craig. That was one thing for which you could thank Mark. You were working on him being a distant memory.  He hadn’t lasted too long in Bay Boys, quitting soon after the musical opened in March.
Daveed’s hands and feet had ‘slipped’ one too many times during the scene when he was stomping his ass on stage. Mark cited health reasons, and publicly spiraled a bit. He was currently in rehab.
Again.
You had not heard from him and that was absolutely fine with you.
Because Jasmine was in Bay Boys and that was her life, the cast and crew became yours as well. Rafael was the type of chaotic creative genius that fascinated you; you could listen to him talk for hours.
Things with Daveed were more tricky. Ever since that awkwardness with him after the launch party, you’d kept your distance, but you hung out a lot, so you were trying to be friends.
When you and Jas and Ant and Rafa hung out and talked, Daveed was there, smiling shyly and sneaking glances at you, throwing in pearls of wisdom every so often.
He was so dope and so talented and intelligent and so freaking hot, but you were trying to get yourself together.  You were convinced that night in January had been a mistake.
You needed some space. And time.  Law school was no joke, and you were in therapy so entanglements was not what was up.
Daveed sensed your hesitancy and decided to stop pursuing you. But he couldn’t stop how he felt.
You were both a little wasted and keyed up the night of the launch party, and despite the way you were beautiful and intelligent and sexy as fucking hell, he was not going to press you.
Daveed was sure that you two could be something special if you would give it a chance, but he didn’t want to chase you, but he was so gone for you, that if you just nodded your head at him, he would be at your feet.
The attraction was undeniable. There was a crazy little dance you two did that everyone recognized and respected.  This group seemed to know you were fragile, and that you didn’t need to be pushed too far.
But the more they persisted, the more you came out of your shell.  The more you trusted, the more the old Lindy came back.
Craig noticed first soon after you started hanging with the crew when you were trying to find a place to live. He went to one showing with you and sat you down for a talk.
“Girl, I love the light in your eyes.  I haven’t seen this Lindy since…well in a long time. Stay with me for as long as you want. I know you need to get through this last semester of school, you don’t need one more thing to think about. I’m proud of the work that you’re doing on yourself, Linden.”
You were grateful to Craig.  His place on the Upper West Side was super convenient to Columbia, and not having to think about finding a place was so clutch.  Third year was kicking your ass.
“Besides, I wouldn’t have this place if it wasn’t for…”
“Hush,  I don’t want to hear that.  Dell would have wanted this. I love you cuzzo.”
=================
Craig came out in a Sully onesie and immediately dragged Jasmine into a conversation about the Met Gala that had happened a few days ago.
You approached the kitchen where Ant stood, food all around him on the counter. You were whispering. He smiled a secret smile at you.
“I’m so proud of you doing this for Jasmine.  It’s good for you all to get away. I’m glad that she got a little break. She deserves it all.”
Anthony had arranged for this little get together to be a surprise for Jasmine. This was going to be a kickback weekend.
The show was on a four day hiatus while the set was moved to a bigger theatre.  It was a hit and was destined for a long run.
Ant’s green eyes lit up as you kept talking about Jasmine.
“Yeah, she does. And the woman of the hour deserves all the happiness in the world.” He lifted his beer to you.
They way he said that was weird and you were about to ask him what was up with that when the doorbell started ringing, you went to answer it and were stuck there for a few minutes as people started coming in.
The food and the drinks were flowing while all kinds of characters came in.
Now they also had Jack Skellingtom, and a Care Bear in the house to add to Big bird, Cookie Monster, Pikachu and Sully. It was an odd cast of characters who were jamming to 90's rap, eating chicken wings and basically tripping like only friends could do.
Tumblr media
Then there was Toni, some tag-along chick who showed up with Rafa.  She had on a plain gray onesie.  What a downer.
You’d  pegged her for  a star fucker who only hung with Rafa because of who he and his friends were.  The girl was too much in everyone's business.
"Sooooo. You and Mark ARE broken up for real for real. The tabloids say y’all are back together!  I told my friend Susie you weren’t, but she wouldn't believe me."
You  just smiled and didn't confirm or deny, treating Toni like the paparazzi. The girl was oblivious to your hate and just kept talking.
Daveed rescued you.
"Hey, Toni, show these folks how you can blow. They're setting up the karaoke machine over there. Show us what you're working with. Someone might hook you up with a gig."
Toni perked up and hurried over to Anthony and Craig, who were setting up the lyrics on the big screen to match the karaoke music. Some Bad Boy joints were up.
Rafa was behind them screaming, "Dylan, Dylan, Dylan!"
They were a scene.  You  breathed and relaxed a little.
"Don't stress. She's not coming with us  to the island."
You looked up at the tall, fine Grumpy Care Bear who was nursing some of your special 18-year-old Chivas Regal that you had gotten for graduation. His beautiful smile shined out of his brown face and beneath the curls tumbling out of his hood.
“I’m not pressed. I’m chilling. You can do what you want. With who you want.”
“She’s not with me. Rafa brought her for the ride to the airport. And it’s not entirely true that I can do what I want. With who I want. Because what if who I want to do doesn’t want to do me?”
You knew what he meant. But you eyed his drink instead of looking at him. It wasn’t that you didn’t want him. That was far from the truth. You didn’t want to get lost in him. And you could see that happening.
Daveed saw your wheels turning. You were over analyzing again.  He’d spent three months observing you every chance he got. He felt like he knew your anxieties.  So fucking smart, but here you were thinking too much.
"Hey Genuis Ass. Want some?" Daveed’s voice was softer as he grinned and offered you some of his drink.  “Or, I could go make you something?” For some reason he wanted you to get loose.
"Nah, I'm good Diggs.”  For some reason you needed to stay in control.  You played it off by changing the subject.
“I still can’t believe y’all call me that.”
Daveed just smiled and nodded, chuckling a little. He craned his neck and looked at it, having to dodge a smack upside the head.
“That ass is genius, you know. That’s the one thing He Who Shall Not Be Named was right about. And you’re one of the smartest humans I know.”
You had to look at him then. The flecks of gold in his eyes tho.  But you could tell from the slight redness that he was a little zooted.  He didn’t get that way around you a lot, but you knew for the stories that he partied occasionally.
He and Rafa and that Toni chick must have pre-gamed.  You remembered the last time you two were  tipsy together. You cleared your throat and looked away.
“Why did you lie to that girl? She can’t sing.” You were shaking your head, scowling at Toni’s screeching from the karaoke machine.
He winked at you. D was well on his way to getting LIT.
"What? She can blow.”  Daveed sipped his drink and watched her.
“She’ll suck your soul out and spit it back in your mouth." Daveed was loose. And so was his mouth. But he didn’t care.
Your mouth was hanging open at Daveed as you wondered what Daveed had done with Toni, what Daveed AND Rafa had done with Toni...
Shit, you were just going to ask.
"How do you know that she..."
"AWWWW SHEEEIIIITTT! THAT'S MY JAM! REMEMBER THIS LINDY??"
“No, I was like, negative 5..”
You raised your voice as he traveled away from you, smiling. He was not slick.
“Well you missed out being tardy to the party…”
He was backing toward the mic, knocking it out of Anthony’s hand and starting the rap. Rafa joined him, trading verses.
Now as the record spins around, you recognize this sound,
Well, it's the underground,
You know that we're down with wutchyalike
Yeah, with wutchyalike, yeah
And though we're usually on the serious tip, check it out:
Tonight we're gonna flip and trip and let it all hang out tonight,
We're gonna say what we like.
'Cause, yo, yo, we want to know how many people in the flow,
Would like to just let yourselves go
And doowutchyalike,
Yeah, well tonight's your night.
Just eat food, try not to be crude or rude,
Kill the attitude, chill the serious mood,
And doowutchyalike,
Yeah, and doowutchyalike,
Everybody doowutchyalike
Everyone was dancing and Daveed had effectively deflected your question. But you would never forget.
By 8 o’clock, Craig grabbed the mic and motioned for Jasmine to come with him. You had enjoyed some cocktails finally, and just figured they were going to duet Wind Beneath My Wings just like they always did.
You were actually moving to the music and feeling good.
"Ok guys, whew.  I'm hot.  Is it hot in herrrre?" Craig was fanning himself.
“Whoooo! Nelly!”
You yelled and everyone laughed.
Craig took his hood off and started to unzip his onesie. Jasmine did the same.
You kept dancing nervously, not realizing it, looking around at the others who were also disrobing. You did a double take as D’s abs came into view.  What was going on?
Craig continued.
"Lindy, I just need a minute to talk, can you stop whatever it is you're doing?"  He grinned at you from across the room. "You're still moving Lindy."
You blushed and stopped fidgeting.
"Ummm, Craig, what the..."
One by one people dropped their onesies, all except Toni, who had no clue what was going on. Soon, everyone was standing in Craig’s condo in their swimsuits, looking fine as hell.
You just looked around, then in your cup wondering if you were too drunk and hallucinating.
“Lindy, you’ve worked real hard, and this past few months have been crazy, so we wanted to do something special for you this weekend, for your graduation, and for your birthday, WHICH IS SUNDAY!!”
Everyone cheered as Jasmine took the mic. “You think this party is for me. Well the joke’s on you bitch, because you have been hosting your own party!”
You opened your mouth, squeaked a little, then spoke,
"But why?.. Everybody?  But what..."
Daveed moved close.
"Damn, you fine," you whispered.
Your hand flew to your mouth when he smirked in response. Everyone was rolling because turns out, you didn’t whisper.
Daveed cleared his throat. "Thank you. You’re fine yaseif. Anyway, Anthony and Jasmine have a house there, and we’re flying out of JFK tonight.  In about two and a half hours in fact. So we gotta get going.”
You still had only a part of a clue of what was going on. But you couldn't resist all of this.
"Okay? But... I don't have any clothes. And I don’t have a ticket..."
Craig came from the storage room off the kitchen with one of your suitcases. Others started getting their bags as well
"Everybody's shit has been in my house for a week. And girl, you know I got your information. It ain’t nothing but a thang.  Your ticket is ready and waiting. Just sent it to your email.”
Your mouth dropped open and you stared at Craig as everyone pulled their onesies back up and got their bags together.
Your eyes filled with tears that you hurriedly brushed away. Craig came over and hugged you. Then every else joined in for a group hug.
"You deserve, Lindy. Let us celebrate you."
You looked like you didn't quite believe it, but you went along. You laughed, visibly deciding to go with the flow.
"I'm down!"
Toni was nearby. When the hug broke up, she started asking questions.  Your  patience was wearing thin.
"I don’t believe that all these people really roll like this. Y’all wild. Susie won that bet."
You just continued to look at this fool.
"But isn’t this dope?  All these famous, successful men being so fearless with their love and appreciation for Black women, of all people. Who woulda thunk they didn't want white women?"
Toni just kept saying the wrong thing. It was the "of all people" for you.
You stared daggers at your houseguest. Toni caught the look.
"Wait, are you mixed?"
You narrowed your eyes and said, "Black mixed with Black."
Toni clutched her pearls.
"Oh wow. Didn't mean to offend. I just mean everyone knows Jasmine is mixed, with her dad and all, as black as can be. But her white British mom saved her from his skin tone. I mean, she has braids in now, so you can see it, but all she has to do is blow her hair straight and she can pass..."
Toni jumped when Rafa spoke. She didn't know he was there.
"Toni. Not Jas. She's the homie."
The look in his ice blue eyes could burn.
"And you are a Black woman, so you know how dope they are. Why would anyone NOT worship at your feet?"
Lindy just sipped her drink as Craig entered the chat. "Amen!"
"Maybe it is time for you to get going, honey. I might call you when I get back."
Rafa  led Toni to the door as she protested.
"But I was going to take you to the air..."
"And I APPRECIATE you Black woman, but we'll get there.  See you later."
Then Rafa shut the door in her face. Linden discovered she loved him eternally at that moment. She was rolling.
No one mourned Toni’s departure as arrangements were made for cars to take everyone to the airport.
"You and Daveed can ride with us, Rafa." Ant to the rescue.
"Yeah, Jasmine loves to look at my profile." Jas pinched him so hard he jumped.
“Fuck!”
Ant  was screaming as he, Jasmine and Rafa went out the door.
"Peace! See you at airport security.  If you get nabbed by TSA, you on your own!”
Daveed lingered. “I don’t know if all of us and our bags will fit in one car. Can I ride with you and Lindy, Craig?”
Craig smirked at Daveed, but didn’t say anything. “Of course...you good with that Lindy?”
You tried to keep it light.
“Sure.. no biggie,” you cleared your throat and headed to the bathroom to make sure you had everything you needed.
=================
By the time you got to your Uber, the traffic was horrible. It took over an hour to get to the airport. You felt both anxious about missing the flight and keyed up about sitting next to Daveed in the car.
His thigh and side pressing into yours in the dark in the back of an Uber Black brought back memories of that reckless night.
When he put his arm up on the seat behind you, “For more room,” he said, in that voice and flashing that megawatt smile, you were enveloped more into his scent and warmth. You had to control yourself not to melt into him.
Craig was sitting on his phone, sneaking glances at you and smirking the entire ride. He’d insisted that you be in the middle because you were so tiny.
The whole world was against you, you thought, as you and Daveed both stared straight ahead, both flashing back to that January night.
You were the last three people to run through the airline gate just at they were about to close it. All your friends in first class cheered when you took their seats, and Rafa popped a bottle of champagne.
"Talk about cutting it close," Ant commented as Rafa gave Daveed a high five.
Daveed looked at you. You shook your head at him. Somehow, you were sitting next to him. You just decided to let it be and have some time.
“Just make sure you don’t molest me under this blanket, Ms. Marshall,” Daveed intoned when you were settled and given amenities for the night.
The flight attendant had to tell y’all to keep quiet as the cat calls went up.
Welp, you thought. This will be the vibe the entire weekend.
You weren’t mad at it. You loved these people. And you were safe. You just smiled, settled down, and looked out of the window to watch the lights of New York fade away.

Let me down pt.3
Pairing(s): Peter Parker x Reader (platonically), Reader x oc
Warnings: I mean, in my eyes this is pure fluff, but who knows if it will hurt you
Summary: Peter and May have dinner with Y/N’s family, prompting a lot of questions to get an answer.
A/N: oKAY, I know that what happened wasn’t exactly what you expected and and it has taken me so long to write this but it's finally here. I want to thank you all, I never meant for this blow up like it did or to even become a series, honestly when I wrote the first part I was just in a really bad mood and I felt like writing something sad and that came out, but then people started to ask for a second part and well the rest is history. So yeah, I actually want to write even more parts to this so let me know if you would like it. Also, I tagged everyone who asked me to write more to this, but let me know if you want to be removed from the taglist

part one part two
Peter couldn't help but feel like his head was spinning as he walked back home from the metro that night. Claire had sat him down in her bed for almost an hour showing off all of her Avengers stuff. She had a replica of Thor's Mjolnir (and she knew how to pronounce it, which was even more impressing), she had the Spider-Man's Uno she had mentioned (it did make him kind of emotional to see a drawing of him on the package) and she had Iron Man's full suit.
Yeah, he did his best not to cry with the last one.
Even if she hadn’t ran up to you screaming ‘mommy’, he would’ve known that she was your daughter. Claire had your hair, your eyes, your nose, even when the rest of her tiny face was more like Mark’s. The corners of her eyes wrinkled the same way yours did when you smiled and she was as energetic as you, she got lost in her own thoughts just like her you used to do.
He had been counting the seconds to be out of your house and be able to break down on the guardianship of his loneliness, but when he found himself walking down the street after dinner... he just didn't.
Peter had gone to school that day being sure that as soon as he saw you, something would be okay, and even if it hadn't gone according to the plan, he hadn't been wrong. Something was okay: you were okay. You had a career, a good job, a loving husband, a perfect daughter, a beautiful family.
You had a great life and, most importantly, you were willing to welcome him in it, so yeah, maybe things were going to be okay.
So when Claire asked him to dinner with them again at the end of the week, and you said you wanted to say hi to May, he just couldn't refuse. That's how he ended up standing in front of your house again, with May by his side this time, holding a cherry pie they had placed and decorated on a plate as if to pretend they hadn't bought it from the grocery store.
As soon as the door opened, Peter handed the dessert to May, because he was prepared for the moment Claire jumped to his arms to greet him. You smiled openly at May, trying to blink away the tears in your eyes at the sight of the woman who had given you a place to call home everytime you felt like your own house was not it.
Both Peter and Mark noticed how you tried to keep your composure when her arms wrapped you in a warm embrace.
"Sorry, I'm a mess," you muttered in apology, trying to wipe your eyes without messing up your mascara.
"You look beautiful," May corrected, making your eyes wet all over again. "It smells amazing," she said suddenly, changing the subject to give you a chance to calm down, "what are you cooking?"
"Oh, I'm not cooking," you clarified rushing them inside, Peter still carrying the little girl in his arms, "Mark is. I somehow manage to burn the water."
"You could always make PB and jelly sandwiches," Peter said with an amused smile, earning a fond laugh from your lips, as if you shared an inside joke.
Only when Mark received the pie from May's hands did Peter notice that he was wearing a purple apron over his white unbuttoned shirt, and he couldn't help the sting in his heart at how perfect he was. He kindly apologized at the fact that the meat still needed a few more minutes on the oven, because he had been held back a little longer than expected at the office.
"What's that smell?" You asked, frowning.
"Daddy, the aspargaroos!" Claire exclaimed instantly, clearly unaware of how to pronounce asparagus, as she wiggled to let Peter know she wanted to be back on the ground. The tiny human ran behind her father into the kitchen, ready to do the damage control.
You decided to grab a bottle of white wine (and another Capri Sun for Peter) while her husband and daughter tried to resolve the asparagus crisis. He tried to pay attention to the conversation the two women in front of him were maintaining, but it was like they were talking in some foreign, alien, grown up language he couldn't understand.
This time, you took a little longer to finish your glass of wine than the last bottle you had opened, which had been a week ago when Peter had showed up in your doorstep. You were trying your best to hide your excitement talking to May, but you couldn't help the profound feeling of pride that took over your chest when you saw her eyes glimmer with amazement as they explored around the living room, where the pictures and prices of all of your family's accomplishments were displayed.
Peter was the first to notice Mark come out of the kitchen with a sheepish smile, "alright, so, the asparagus isn't salvageable, er, how do you feel about KFC salad?"
That's how they found themselves sitting at the round dinner table eating steak with a mushroom sauce Claired had been the one to think about, roasted potatoes and KFC salad, because apparently the always ordered some extra salad on their takeaways and stuffed them in the fridge.
"So..." May started, eyeing the young couple nervously. "There is so much to talk about. How... you... well..."
"How did I end married and with a kid at twenty three?" You finished for her, saving a sigh to yourself although you felt your husband tense a little beside you. The more you two heard that question, the more annoying it got, even when you knew May didn't mean to offend you.
Of course you knew you were young, and that many people your age couldn't handle such commitments, you didn't need people telling you that constantly. You had heard the same discourse from teachers, employers, even neighbors you had never talked to, it quickly got old and you tried not to become aggressive everytime you heard it.
Mark and you had a happy, healthy marriage, with a wonderful daughter that had brought light into a world as dark as yours was since the blip. You had good jobs that allowed you to have a stable economy and also take care of your family. You were happy, what else mattered? If you wanted opinions or needed help, you would certainly ask for it.
You never once had.
Still, you responded kindly, "well, we met in college, Princeton," you mentioned, earning two proud looks from your guests. "We were in different programs, so we met specifically through a praying group."
"That had never really been my thing," Mark picked up, "praying and all that God related talk bored me, but most of family and friends had been blipped... I was lonely. So I thought maybe I should give it a try."
"I honestly thought he had gone for the food, because when the meeting was over he looked like he hadn't understood a single word."
"Because I hadn't."
"A friend and I decided to come and talk to him, but after she left we hung out a little longer," you tried to hide the cheesy smile that took over your lips, but you looked over at Mark, who hasn't trying to hid his, and couldn't. "I don't know how to explain it, something about that moment just felt" you shrugged shyly "right."
The memories of you staying on the library, hiding behind the stacks of books so that no one would notice you trying to stay inside after it closed and talking the whole night long never failed to raise goosebumps along your skin. He would offer to read for you when your eyes got tired of working with the dim light that entered through the window, even when he was a law major and didn't understand a single word on the neuroscience and robotic books you were always studying.
It was soon after getting to know him, you just knew Mark had been made for you. There was something in the way you could see in his eyes that crowds freaked him out and that he tried not to cry after talking to his mom in the phone, something in the way he understood your whimpers in the days where anything above a mutter was just too much, that you knew this awkwardly tall curious guy was meant to cross your path.
"Things moved pretty fast after that," you continued, hoping you hadn't zoomed out for too long, "like 'we got married eight months after' fast."
May did her best to hide her surprise, while Peter choked on the salad. Was listening to your loving tone as you told the story easy? No, not at all. He wanted to throw up. Peter was still hopelessly in love with you, even when you were now five years older, even when you had a husband and a child, even when it was ridiculous and impossible, because for him it hadn't been years, it just had been months.
"Claire came soon after that," Mark concluded after pouring some more juice on Peter's glass and asking him if he was okay. "And all of this happened throughout college?"
"We had a really good support system," he nodded, smiling down at Claire, who had made a mess over her chicken sandwich. "A really good amount of friends willing to babysit whenever we had to work, understanding teachers who let us bring Claire to our lectures. My mom and Y/N's parents were also a great help."
"We were both on scholarships that gave us some allowances to support ourselves each month, too," you added. "It wasn't much, but it helped."
"And what are you working on now?" May switched to a conversation that would probably be easier on her nephew.
"Well, Mark is an associate on a buffet in Manhattan," you said grabbing your husband's hand. "What's your approach?" Peter asked, somewhat genuinely curious.
"Environmental law," he replied proudly.
"And I-"
"Mommy builds robot limbs!" Claire exclaimed excitedly, prompting a laugh on the others.
"Before I graduated, I got a job as lab assistant on a research for neuro prosthetics," you explained, "and after graduating, they hired me as researcher. Basically what we're trying to do is to create a non-invasive implant we can connect to the brain and spinal cord that controls robotic prosthetics for people who have lost limbs or return movement to paralyzed body sections."
Peter's skin prickled at the description of the research, for it was one he had known before it all went crumbling down. A memory flashed through his eyes, Tony helping his friend walk after he had been injured in Germany, on his first mission.
"That's..."
"A Stark Industries' research, yes," you nodded solemnly.
"Y/N told me you had an internship with Tony Stark before... it all happened," Mark commented carefully. Peter's head practically snapped in his direction, then, more subtly, in yours. You shook head slightly, almost imperceptibly, but clearly enough to let Peter know you hadn't told his secret.
"You met Tony Stark?" Claire asked him with a bright light in her eyes, one that Peter had seen thousands of times on other kids that, very much like himself, dreamt every night of robots and technologies that could change the world.
"Yes."
"How was he?"
Peter thought for a few seconds about his answer. What was Tony Stark? He was charming, sure, but he wasn't exactly friendly. He was a genius, yet he had never let that cloud his judgement. He had trouble expressing himself, but he always made sure the people around knew how much they meant to him. Suddenly Peter understood why Shakespeare was always making up words, there were just some things, some people, the english language wasn't extensive enough to describe, so he said the best he could come up with.
"He was the most amazing guy I ever met."
You smiled down at your nearly empty plate, it was impossible to forget how much had mr. Stark meant for Peter. Even when you guys broke up and cut off all communication, you still prayed for him to always be under the wing of his mentor. You couldn’t imagen what it was like for Peter to live in a world where Tony Stark was no longer there to help him walk through life.
Hopefully, you would be able to do that in his absence.

Chapter 4.) Beautiful Monster.
All my life.
And the hereafter.
I've never seen.
Seen one like you.
You're a knife.
Sharp and deadly.
And it's me.
That you cut into.
But I don't mind.
In fact I like it.
Though I'm terrified.
I'm turned on but scared of you…
Oh…
She's a monster.
Beautiful monster.
Beautiful monster.
But I don't mind.
And I need her.
Said I need her.
Beautiful monster.
But I don't mind.
No I don't mind (I don't mind I don't I don't mind).
No I don't mind (I don't mind I don't I don't mind).
No I don't mind (I don't mind I don't I don't mind).
No I don't mind (I don't mind I don't I don't mind).
Naia stood frozen and at a loss for words as she stared at the man she’s been dreaming about.
“It can’t be! You can’t be real.” She stammered.
He looked deep in her eyes.
“This is real Beloved. I’m here.” He said to her.
She still couldn’t believe it.
“But how? You…you aren’t supposed to be real.”
His gaze was soft and she didn’t feel threatened by him. She was just confused and shocked.
“I have been waiting for you Beloved. Welcome home.”
“Home? You mean Hunt’s Peak? I’ve never been there. I literally just got here.”
“I know. Your uncle said you’d be here.”
“Uncle Zane told you I’d be here? I briefly talked to him before I left home.”
“Yes he told me and I couldn’t wait to meet you. May I?” He asked.
She stepped aside to let him in.
“What did my uncle tell you about me?” She asked.
“Well…he failed to say how beautiful you are.” He replied.
She bit her bottom lip and blushed.
“Thank you I think? I’m sorry I don’t even know your name.”
“My name is Roman.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Naia.”
“I know. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.”
And as strange it was to her she felt calm. She wasn’t scared of him. She was more curious than anything.
“It’s okay. But how did you know I was here?” She asked.
“I have eyes and ears everywhere. But one of the employees is a friend of mine and the manager knows your uncle.” He replied.
“So what are you like the sheriff or something?” She asked.
“Something like that. I protect the forest.” He replied.
“So you're a park ranger?” She asked.
“You could say that.” He replied.
The more she looked at him, the stronger this strange pull between the two grew. There was something about him. That was both thrilling and terrifying. But she felt like a moth to a flame.
In her eyes.
There's love and fire.
And my heart.
She's burning through.
But I don't mind.
In fact I like it.
Though I'm terrified.
I'm turned on but scared of you.
She's a monster (she's a monster).
Beautiful monster (beautiful monster).
Beautiful monster (beautiful monster yeah).
But I don't mind (I don't mind).
And I need her (and I need her).
Said I need her (said I need her).
Beautiful monster (whoa).
But I don't mind (I don't mind I don't I don't mind).
No I don't mind.
She invited him to sit down next to her on the bed. She wanted to know more about him. So she decided to test him.
“Tell me how far is town from here?” She asked him.
“It’s about an hour.” He replied.
“Good. I’ll be there later.”
“It is better for you to leave in the morning.”
“Why?” She asked.
“It’s dark and the road is very treacherous at night. Many dangers.” He replies.
“Dangers? What like zombies?” She asked.
“Yes. Something like that.” He replies.
She stared at him like he had lost his mind.
“That’s a joke right?” She asked.
“I never joke Naia.” He replies.
“Ooooooooooooookaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy…so you’re Mister Serious. Got it.”
The way he looked at her, made the blood rush to her cheeks. She loved it but didn’t want to admit it. At least not out loud.
“So do you always haunt a girl’s dream?” She asked.
“I’m not a magician if that’s what you’re asking.” He replies.
Just as she was about to ask him another question, she heard a howl.
“What was that?“ she started to ask before he answered quickly. “A wolf. It’s coming from the North.”
“How do you know?” She asked.
“I know these woods and mountains. I know what lives and thrives here.” He replies.
“Is there anything you don’t know?” She asked.
“I don’t know you.” He replies.
“Touché. So what is it you want to know?” She asks.
“Everything. I want to know you. Who are you Naia?” He replies.
“You don’t really want to know everything about me, do you?” She asks.
“Yes. Tell me.” He replies.
“You asked for it.”
When he smiled softly at her, she felt her heart flutter. There was something about him. She felt compelled to bare her soul to him. There she was looking at this strange man and telling him everything about herself. Her successes, her failures, her career, her fears, her joys she even told him about her former lovers.
“Fascinating. You are quite the remarkable woman.”
“Was it too much for you?” She asked shyly.
“No. I like learning about you. You’re not like any woman I have ever met.”
“I hope that’s a good thing.”
“Yes, I assure you that it is.”
Just then there was another howl. This one was different from the last. Roman stood up hastily and moved towards the door.
“I must go. I’m sorry.”
“Wait what? But I know nothing about you! How will I find you?” She asked.
He looked at her then held out his right hand. When she took his hand in her own, something sparked. She couldn’t explain it but she felt something deep within her bones. She couldn’t explain what this feeling was. What she didn’t know was that feeling is her bond with him. Soon, she found herself in his arms, gazing up into his eyes.
“Roman I…” she started to say before he silenced her with a kiss.
It was deeper, more intense and powerful than any kiss that she had ever experienced. It wasn’t like the kisses she felt in her dreams. It was real. It was happening. And she couldn’t get enough. When their kiss was over, she felt drunk. And she wasn’t trying to let him go.
“Please don’t go.” She begged.
“I must. But do not worry Beloved. You will see me again real soon.”
“You promise?” She asked.
“Yes Beloved. I promise, you’ll see me again. Especially after tonight.” He replies.
With one last long kiss, Roman was gone. And Naia’s heartbeat and mind were racing. She missed him. She needed him. She longed for him. She couldn’t wait to see and feel him again.
The next day Naia arrived at her uncle’s house and was happy to see him.
“Hi uncle Zane!” She said as greeted him.
“Hey sweetheart! It’s great to see you! Welcome to Hunt’s Peak! Let me look at you. Yup! You look just like your mother!” He said as they hugged.
“It’s good to be here.”
“Come on in the house! I got a pot of my world famous venison stew with your name on it.”
After eating and getting settled in her mother’s old room, she was sitting in the living room with her uncle.
“It’s great to have you here, Naia.”
“It’s good to be here. I’ve been dying to visit for ages.”
“Good I’m glad. I’m happy that Laurie let you come. How is she by the way?” He asked.
“About that…she doesn’t know that I’m here.” She replied.
“What do you mean your mother doesn’t know?” He asked.
“Her and daddy are in Paris for 2 weeks for their anniversary. I left after they did.” She replied.
Zane sighed heavily.
“Well that explains why you’re here. I should’ve known she’d never change her mind.”
“She mentioned that something happened. Something bad. And it was enough to make her leave and never look back. What happened, uncle Zane? Why did my mom leave?” She asked him.
Zane ran a hand through his hair and over his face before answering.
“Whatever she’s told you, she's right. Something bad did happen and I didn’t believe her. I didn’t protect her. She’s my sister and I should’ve known that she was telling the truth. But I didn’t. We got into an argument one day and I told her that she was lying. I shouldn’t have said that to her. 2 days later she was gone. And I haven’t seen her since. I’ve missed her you know?”
“I understand. I’m sure she misses you too. Even though she’d never say it out loud.”
He smiled softly at his niece.
“How’s your dad?” He asks.
“He’s good. His architecture business is really booming.” She replied.
“I remember when they met. No one was happy about them being together. Least of all me.”
“Daddy’s said something like that before. But he always said it’s because he was an outsider.”
“That’s partially true.”
“What do you mean partially? What’s the other part?” She asked.
“That’s a story for another time, I’m afraid.” He replied.
“Are you sure? You know you can tell me. I won’t be mad.” She asks.
“Yes Naia, I’m sure. You know? You should go to town. Meet the people. I’m sure that they’ll be a lot more fun than sitting in the house with me.”
“I actually met someone as a matter of fact. Met him yesterday.”
“You did? Who did you meet?” He asks, surprised by her revelation.
“Someone named Roman. He said that he was a friend of yours.” She replied clearly lying. But she wanted to know if he’d lie to her.
He swallowed hard and cleared his throat.
“Yes I know him. He’s well known all around town. I’m surprised you met him already. I didn’t think you two would meet so soon.” He replied.
Naia instantly picked up on the slightly nervous tone in her uncle’s voice. But she decided to keep that to herself as a mental note.
“Besides stare at the woods all day and night, what’s there to actually do around here?” She asked.
“Go down to Buck’s! Best bar and pool hall in West Virginia!” He replied enthusiastically.
“I guess it’s settled. To Buck’s I go!”
After changing, Naia headed to Buck’s. She walked into Buck’s and took a seat at the bar before looking around. She saw people dancing, playing pool, playing poker, drinking and otherwise having a good time. As she turned back to the bar to order a drink, there was a tap on her shoulder. She turned to her left and saw a gorgeous black woman sitting on the stool next to her.
Tumblr media
“Hi! You must be Naia!” She said to Naia.
“Ummmmmm yeah…how did you know?” She asked the woman.
“Your uncle called the bar and said you’d be here. I’m Layla. I own the place.” Layla replied.
“Ohhh okay.”
“Yeah so what can I get you?” Layla asks.
“Whiskey double.” Naia replies.
“Coming right up.”
It wasn’t until Layla stood up that Naia noticed that she’s pregnant.
“Oh my goodness! You’re pregnant!”
“Yup! This little one is nearly ready to make their debut.” She said before walking behind the bar.
“Are you sure you should be behind the bar?” Naia asks.
“As sole owner and proprietor? Yeah. I’m fine.” Layla replies as she hands Naia her drink.
“Thanks.”
“No problem. Sooooo how do you like town so far?” Layla asks.
“It’s okay. I’m a city girl so this is an adjustment for me.” Naia replies.
“I think it’ll grow on you.”
“You sound confident. How long have you lived here?” Naia asked.
“My whole life. Met my man here too.” Layla replies.
“Ohhh! Didn’t know you were in a relationship.”
“Yeah. He doesn’t live in town but he loves me and our little one just the same.”
“Well that’s good.”
“Why are you still sitting here?” Layla asks.
“Because I don’t know anyone and it would be awkward to just walk up to random strangers?” Naia replies.
“No it wouldn’t. Everyone here is friendly! As the boss of this place I say go mingle!”
Just as Naia got ready to go mingle with others, Roman walked in and Buck’s went silent. He was flanked by 3 men and a woman. When Naia locked eyes with him, she felt her heart and the butterflies in her stomach flutter. He nodded to his crew to take a seat then he turned his attention back to Naia. As he walked towards her, Naia felt like she could attach herself to him.
“I better go fill their orders.” Layla said which seemingly snapped Naia out the trance she was in.
“Huh? What? You say something?” Naia asks.
“Yeah. I’ll be right back.” Layla replied.
Naia watched her walk over towards Roman’s crew before turning her attention to him. He was gorgeous to her. When he sat down beside her, she felt her knees turn into jello.
“Well hello there.”
“Hello yourself.”
Her heart was doing backflips as she looked at him.
“I went by your uncle’s house and you weren’t there.”
She was taken aback.
“You did?” Naia asks, wanting to see where these questions were going.
“Yes I did. I promised you that I would see you again.” He replies.
“Yes you did but I didn’t think it would be today.”
His eyes roamed up and down her body and it a shiver running down her spine.
“Why are sitting here by yourself Naia?” He asked.
“I was gonna go play a few rounds of pool but then you and your friends showed up.” She replied.
He looked at her with an eyebrow raised. He looked as if he was taking her answer into consideration.
“Dance with me.”
She stared at him.
“Dance with you? Like now?!” She asked.
He never answered, he just stood up and held out his hand. As of on command she took his hand. He led her to the dance floor as Beautiful Monster by Ne-Yo played in the background.
Naia tried to make sense of what was happening but the more she danced with him, the more she didn’t care. She felt free with him. And ever since their kiss all she wanted was to be close to him.
As the song swelled, he spun her around then pulled her back flush to his chest. She loved the feeling of his arms around her as they danced.
Playing with my heart, mmm.
And she's playing with my mind.
And I don't mind, I don't mind.
No I don't mind, I don't I don't mind.
No I don't mind, I don't I don't mind.
No I don't mind, I don't I don't mind.
And I don't mind.
(I don't mind I don't I don't mind) Said I don't mind.
(I don't mind I don't I don't mind) And I don't mind.
(I don't mind I don't I don't mind) Beautiful monster.
She's a monster (she's a monster).
Beautiful monster (beautiful monster).
Beautiful monster (ooh).
But I don't mind (but I don't mind).
And I need her (and I need her).
Said I need her (said I need her).
Beautiful monster (beautiful monster).
But I don't mind (ooh).
No I don't mind.
No I don't mind.
(I don't mind I don't I don't mind) no I don't mind.
(I don't mind I don't I don't mind ooh) no I don't mind.
Everything in that moment with her felt right. But soon she’d discover that she’d wind up getting more than she ever bargained for.

Pt. 4
A.C.E had been armed with their self cams and set free to roam with Minseok, Charlie and Guerin. Charlie was in her uniform and acted as the guide. Throughout the tour of the zoo a few Choice recognized A.C.E and got selfies but nothing of note happened besides Seyoon attempting to communicate telepathically with a Gambian pouched rat after Guerin compared the two visually. He failed and settled for a selfie instead.
Minseok drove all of them back to Beat Interactive in the company van. They spent the drive looking through the selfies and videos that had been taken.
"Jun, I don't remember you taking this picture." Guerin said innocuously, "You look so good though." She handed the phone to Donghun next to her.
"You've never looked better." Donghun grinned, passing the phone along to Chan as Byeongkwan peered from behind with Charlie. The three just laughed before handing the phone to Seyoon. A broad smile erupted across his face as Jun leaned over, confused.
A toadhead lizard on the screen gazed back from the photo. Jun's expression blanked and he turned to stare out of the window as Guerin finally lost her cool and guffawed loudly with Donghun from in front.
"I can see the resemblance." Charlie giggled. Jun's head whipped around to stare in disbelief, "No no in a good way, it's cute!" She defended, covering her face to hide the smile that wouldn't leave.
Jun's head lolled back onto the headrest and he groaned as the van came to a stop. Minseok turned back from the drivers seat, ignoring the chaos of the seven adults and rolled his eyes.
"I've got to grab some work so if you guys want a ride back to the dorm just hang out a bit. Charlie, Guerin, you two are good from here?" He asked.
"Hyung!" Jun's head popped up, "You'd make women walk home on their own?"
"Normally I'd be worried but considering certain company," Minseok gestured obviously toward Guerin, "I'm not sure what help I would be."
Guerin laughed, "We'll be fine, I can take Charlie home and go from there."
"Don't you live in opposite directions?" Chan asked, concerned.
"Yeah but-" Guerin was interrupted.
"That's silly, Jun why don't you walk Charlie home." Donghun suggested.
"Seyoon, you should walk Guerin. We have some work to do but let's just meet up back at the dorm." Byeongkwan added with a shrug. Guerin froze, not wanting to protest since she knew Charlie would love being walked home by Jun but for some reason nervous about being alone with Seyoon. [For some reason, maybe cause he is too attractive for you to function] her evil inner voice called her out.
"That sounds fine." Jun had perked up, looking at Charlie with a smile, who smiled back at him for a moment before looking shyly to the ground. Guerin glanced at Seyoon who was watching Byeongkwan with an indecipherable blank expression. Minseok rolled his eyes again, "Whatever you want, just cover up and call if there's trouble."
Everyone traipsed out of the van and went their separate ways. Guerin had gone with a natural makeup look to avoid standing out again, sticking with a plain black mask and ball cap. Seyoon was still made up from the filming but had slid on a hooded jacket and wore the usual mask.
It was only a fifteen minute bus ride and walk back to Guerin's apartment and it was busy enough that they blended in easily with the crowds of other commuters. They passed the time talking about the zoo with Guerin sharing insights from her past experience with the field. Seyoon was curious but didn't ask for more details.
As they approached her apartment building Guerin glanced up and froze, Seyoon one step slower, looked back at her. She was squinting at the entranceway of a figure leaning against her building next to the door. Seyoon followed her gaze, eyes landing on the still form, head down and hands in pockets. Instinctively he stepped in front of Guerin until he heard her speak.
"Seungbin?" She asked in disbelief. Hearing his name the boy looked up from under his hat, eyes red and puffy. Guerin moved past Seyoon who followed her automatically. As soon as Seungbin looked at Guerin his eyes filled with tears and he walked quickly to meet her, hugging her tightly and crying.
"Noonaaaa." He whimpered through tears. Guerin hugged him back for a moment before pulling back and looking around quickly.
"Oh little one let's get inside so we can talk okay?" She asked, a slight edge of concern to her voice. Seyoon didn't even consider leaving and the three of them went inside. Guerin settled her guests in the living room, brought over bottles of water for everyone then sat down next to the youngest member of HEET. Seyoon was still watching impassively as Guerin put her arm around the hiccuping Seungbin.
"Honey what are you doing here? Are you okay?" She asked him, dabbing at his face with tissues she had brought over. Seungbin tucked his face into her shoulder.
"I missed you Noona. We haven't seen you since the police station." His eyes continued to leak tears onto her shirt and she gave up on the tissue just hugging him and looking a bit misty eyed herself.
"Oh sweetie I know. That was really scary wasn't it?" He nodded into her shoulder, sniffling again. "And you've probably heard of some of the stuff people have been saying haven't you?" She leaned her head against the top of his, making eye contact with Seyoon and wincing. He gestured to show he was okay.
Seungbin pulled back from Guerin, "Those people aren't right! They're spreading lies! And the company won't let us say anything, they're just letting them say those bad things about you!" He said, frustrated and teary. Guerin was touched that he was so moved on her behalf, and also kicking herself for not predicting how much the boys would be by the sudden changes, especially with a lack of information. She turned to face him, crossing her legs under her and taking his hands.
"You're the sweetest, Seungbinnie. I'm so sorry you weren't given more information." She bounced his hands, "I don't know how much I can tell you as far as details go, but I do think I can tell you we aren't doing nothing. For legal reasons we can't share too many details until the prosecution is done with their investigation and we wrap up the case." Seungbin looked up cautiously.
"Does that mean when everything is done you can be our manager again?"
"As of right now me not being a manager is only supposed to be temporary." Guerin said with a small smile and nod. "But part of the reason that I can't be your manager right now is we are concerned someone might try to target me in a misdirected attempt to protect HEET." Seungbin looked upset and opened his mouth to speak but Guerin shook her head, "The most important thing to me is that you boys are safe and taken care of, even if it means I can't be the one to do it."
She let go of his hands, wiping his tears with her thumbs then fixing his hair and pinching his cheeks, which he made an unconvincing effort to pull away from. She giggled and tickled his neck which made him laugh and cringe away, but after a moment he frowned again.
"Noona, does that really mean we can't see you at all? I know all of us miss you, even if they don't all say it like me."
"I don't know. But why don't you let me ask Han Jisoo if maybe we can meet up sometimes inside the company? Would that be okay?" Guerin suggested. Seungbin looked thoughtful then nodded slowly. "Good boy." She patted his head adoringly and he leaned into it with a small smile. "Now I dont know how you got here but let me call the company and get your manager to pick you up okay?"
Seumgbin scowled "Temporary manager." He said with a pout.
"Hey, be nice. Woojin is nice and trying his best. It's not his fault, okay?" Guerin said, tapping his forehead lightly. Seungbin sighed and nodded again.
"Alright, I'll be right back." Guerin excused herself and left to make the call, leaving Seyoon and Seungbin alone. Seungbin took a drink from his water bottle and looked at the still quiet Seyoon who was focusing silently on the coffee table in front of him as he pondered what he had just witnessed. Guerin had looked... well when she was being reassuring and playful it had made his heart race. She was very good at her job and took good care of those around her. He was impressed. Well, maybe not just impressed...
Before he could travel down that train of thought much longer Seungbin spoke up, "Sorry Hyung... did I... interrupt... were you two on a date?"
Seyoon jumped, eyes wide he looked at Seungbin. "Oh, no! A.C.E had a schedule at the zoo with Charlie and Guerin tagged along."
Seungbin frowned, "I'm jealous. You get to spend time with Noona." He paused and crunched the bottle, "You're not trying to steal her as a manager are you? I think I'd prefer if you were dating."
Seyoon choked on the sip of water he had taken and coughed, trying to think of a response. He was saved by Guerin returning.
"Seyoon please don't die in my apartment, I don't think that would look good for my record." She joked, patting him on the back lightly before moving back to Seungbin.
"Young man, you didn't tell anyone you were leaving." Seungbin looked chastised.
"I knew they would try and stop me."
"Everyone was very worried, with everything that's gone on. I told Woojin I'd scold you." She raised her eyebrows, "I don't think the adults are blameless here but will you promise me that in the future you'll tell someone you trust where you are?" Seungbin nodded quietly.
"Okay, I trust you to be safer next time." She ruffled his hair lovingly. "Woojin is coming to pick you up. He also said that for now you can all use his phone to contact me when you want to chat okay? So please don't give him a hard time anymore, he is doing his best and he wants you all to do well."
The three of them spent the time talking about the trip to the zoo, Seungbin making Guerin promise to take them too, before Woojin came to the door for Seungbin. He hugged Guerin tightly before leaving and she kissed the top of his head affectionately before ushering him out. He stopped one more time looking back at Seyoon as though he wanted to say something, then looked to Guerin, sighed, said goodbye and left with his frazzled looking new manager.
"Did you two fight?" Guerin asked, closing the door behind them.
Seyoon shrugged sheepishly, "He's worried about losing you, and you got the spend the day with A.C.E." he selectively shared.
"I see." She nodded, unusually quiet now that Seungbin was gone. She headed back to the living room and collapsed on the couch with a sigh. Seyoon followed awkwardly, not sure if he was also expected to leave and very aware that it was just the two of them in Guerin's apartment. Sitting on the couch next to her he pressed his fingertips together and leaned forward before speaking.
"So... are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah." She replied automatically.
"Noona..." Seyoon said disbelievingly, turning his head to look at her with an expression matching his tone.
Guerin smiled wanly, "Sorry, it's a habit." She sighed and sat up a bit straighter, "I know I can share it's just... gaaaah." She kicked her legs in frustration, "It's hard." Her eyes met Seyoons again and the unconvincing smile returned, "I'm sad." Her eyed welled with tears and she put her arm across her eyes, "I'm so sad. I feel so bad. I was so caught up in everything that I didn't realize how HEET must feel too. I actually agreed that it would be better for them to not know the details of everything."
As Guerin spoke Seyoon tentatively reached his hand to hers, hesitated, then took it gently, soothingly giving it a squeeze and rubbing his thumb against her skin. She twitched at the contact but then squeezed his hand back, "It's so dumb, I know they go on their fan cafe, the vlive and official sns to check comments. I should have known they'd be bothered and upset."
He waited a moment to make sure she was done, grabbed a couple tissues with his free hand, then tugged lightly on her hand, "Sit up."
Guerin peeked at him from under her arm, eyes red and face streaked with tears. She pulled her mask back up then went along with him. He raised an eyebrow and gave a classic Seyoon smirk before pulling it down right away, when she started to protest he just put the tissue in her mouth and reached for another.
"No d- pppbbbtt! what the hell?" She laughed in shock, pulling the tissue out of her mouth.
"You don't have to hide your face." He responded simply, turning back to her to Dan her face, "I can't wipe your tears if it's all covered anyway."
She stared at him in disbelief before laughing again, shoving his hand away and taking the tissue from him, swiping at her own face, "You're such a weirdo."
"You're the one eating tissues." He countered with a mischievous grin.
"Oh you little-" she grabbed the box of tissues and moved as if to hit him with it. He laughed and raised his hands to block her, finally dropping his hold on her since he had reached out. She tsked at him and dropped the box, "I can't hurt you, you need your pretty face to make a living."
He shot finger hearts at her and she fell back, clutching her heart, "No stop, it's too cute! Aaahhh..."
"I win." He stated proudly with a wink.
"Enough enough, I'm weak and fragile right now." Guerin protested, sitting up again straining as though she was out of energy.
"Noona..." Seyoon began, pausing to take her hand again. She looked down at it and back up at him, surprised and confused. What was he doing this for? This prolonged contact with him was pleasant but torturous at the same time. Was he just being comforting, is this what he is like with everyone? Her thoughts raced right along with her heartrate.
"You did your best. Even if things didn't turn out perfect, they'll be okay now. And next time you have more information to make a better decision. Don't be so hard on yourself. You did good." He squeezed her hand once more then reached up to pet her head reassuringly. She flinched when he reached up initially but as his hand lingered for a moment she leaned her head into the affectionate pat, eyes closed with a satisfied smile.
"Thanks Seyoonie." She mumbled. As her eyes opened their gazes met again and the intimacy of the contact struck them like an embarrassing memory from a decade ago while you're trying to sleep. Guerin sat up straighter and pulled away while Seyoon dropped his hand and faced forward again.
"Ah, I've kept you late. You probably need to head back." Guerin stood up abruptly.
"Oh... oh yeah, probably." Seyoon said sounding noncommittal. He stood more slowly and Guerin led the way to the door.
"Thanks for walking me home, and... thanks for hearing me out again." She smiled, embarrassed, looking down as she opened the door and leaned against it.
"You can talk to me any time." He shrugged. "Unless it's about your weird tissue eating habit I dont want to hear about that." Guerin let out a scoff at the wrong moment as he managed to poke another tissue into her mouth, "Bye!" He turned and trotted down the stairs quickly as she spat the tissue out again.
"WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS!" she laugh yelled after him before remembering neighbors existed and shut up, closing her door quietly.
"You've never been to karaoke?" Jun asked Charlie in disbelief.
She shrugged as they walked next to each other toward her apartment, "I'm no singer, and it's different in the states. Most places are just in front of a whole bar and not private rooms..." she trailed off.
"You should try it though! It's fun! Even people that aren't good at singing can have fun with karaoke with the right friends." Jun turned so he was walking sideways to face her.
"Easy for you to say, you have an incredible voice." She protested.
"You think I'm a good singer?" He beamed from under his mask proudly, now walking backwards slightly in front of her.
"You're a professional singer of course you sound amazing. And dancing-" she stopped herself, not wanting to admit to perusing a few fancams she had watched since they had met.
"Dancing?" His eyebrows raised and his eyes glinted, "You've seen me dancing? When?"
"I- yeah. I mean... yeah there's... you just had a comeback and I liked your music so-" Charlie stammered as she cast around for the words that wouldn't be awkward, but his focused gaze on her and his smile even when it was hidden had her distracted. Fortunately an obstacle gave her the subject change she needed.
"Watch out!" She cried out in English, grabbing his arm and yanking him toward her. By walking backwards he had almost backed into a streetlight. His startled expression was easy to see as he recovered from the sudden interruption. He looked at the offending street lamp, then down to Charlie and decided that given the proximity between them her rescue had significantly decreased, maybe it wasn't so offensive afterall.
Her eyes met his for a moment before she blushed and looked away, "Sorry... you should watch where you're going though."
"You saved me!" He cooed and moved to stand next to her, closer than before.
"Yeah and I shouldn't have to, you're a grown man." She tsked at him, trying to play it cool but very aware at how his closeness as they walked meant their hands kept idly bumping each others.
"That's true. I am a grown man." He said simply. The implication of his statement made her pulse race and her blush linger and she could only hope he didn't notice.
He did notice. But he was nice enough to not say anything about it.
"Sooo... My members and I were thinking of going to karaoke later this week. You should come experience it." He tried for casual, "Maybe Guerin can come too if it would make you feel better." He added as she hesitated.
"...Yeah. It could be fun." She agreed, trying not to give away how eager she was to be making future plans with him. She giggled as he bounced happily beside her, a big grin on his face, "But I am not going to promise to sing, I'll just listen to you professionals."
"I won't make you do anything you don't want to!" He promised, grinning. Their hands brushed against each others again.

Once inside they were greeted by some familiar and some new faces. It didn't take Emma long to discover what would help her gain Kiara's family's support, Hakim wanted Cordonia nominated for a prestigious art festival and that was the reason for hosting the art festival showcasing Cordonia's artists. Hakim went around the room one by one and introduced himself to everyone, surprising them all with his intimate knowledge of who they were. As he got to Emma, she formally invited him to their wedding just as she had with every other noble family, and just like the others, he declined, they were expected at a legal summit in Switzerland. Another family to convince, nothing about this would be easy, Emma thought to herself. Hakim left, and everyone took a seat, Kiara sat too close for comfort to Drake on the couch and Emma carefully watched her as they talked. It didn't take much convincing to gain Kiara's support, as soon as they had it, Emma jumped up.
“How about that grand tour now?” Drake jumped up as well and tried to maneuver away from Kiara, he was trying to save her and himself from Emma.
“Zeke is the best at giving tours!” They followed Zeke out to beautiful patio that overlooked rows and rows of grape vines. A woman was overlooking the vineyard, focused on the canvas in front of her. After Joelle introduced herself, Zeke brought out various bottles of house wines and glasses for everyone to sample as the sun set. Emma sat next to Liam with Drake on her other side and Kiara on his other side. Drake swirled his wine around and looked at it, unsure while everyone else tasted the fruity chardonnay. Olivia smirked and noticed that Drake seemed uninterested.
“What do you think of the wine Drake?” He looked up caught off guard and stumbled over his words using the wrong verbage to describe it. Emma was going to rescue him, but Kiara beat her to it.
“Wine is not for everyone Drake. I'm sure you're a whiskey connoisseur.” Her hand rested gently on Drake's leg and lingered a little too long. Drake coughed and shifted in his chair noticing Emma's white knuckles on her chair next to him. Zeke relieved some of the tension by sharing a story of his own embarrassment in a political setting. Drake carefully rested his hand on Emma's knee under the table, giving it a soft squeeze, reassuring her that everything was okay. Zeke poured everyone another white that was made in the traditional sparkling form like champagne. Emma made a short toast, and everyone clinked their glasses, noticing a spark between Zeke and Penelope as they talked about their love for animals. Zeke brought out one more bottle for them to sample, a rich red wine. Liam and Emma settled on having the sparkling wine at their wedding. She leaned over to Drake conspiratorially.
“Don't  worry, there will be plenty of whiskey there too.” Drake chuckled. They finished their last sample and everyone wandered back in except for Drake who looked out over the vineyard.
“Hey.” Emma sidled up next to him and looked out over the vineyard too.
“Hey yourself. You doing okay?” He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer.
“I'd be doing better if Kiara wasn't all over you.” Drake chuckled and kissed the top of her head.
“You've been awfully quiet tonight.”
“Is it a crime to silently enjoy some nice wine?” Emma raised an eyebrow at him.
“Since when do you prefer wine over whiskey Drake?” He sighed.
“Truth is Barnes, I'm trying to fit in but I'm over my head. All this courtly stuff, I've always dismissed it, but now, if I want to be with you it's going to become a part of my life. I never thought I'd end up here, not even in my wildest dreams.”
“Sipping wine and touring the duchies of Cordonia?”
“Or in love with the same woman as my best friend, who's a duchess. Or acting like a fool over the woman I love. Or caring about courtly events. Take your pick.”
“You're not a fool Drake Walker.”
“I figured out at a young age that I'd never be like them, like the nobles, I'd never be good enough. I thought that if I didn't care, it wouldn't matter. Now I care and I'm in love with a noble woman, I just want to be good enough, to be worthy of you. Even if it is in the shadows.”
“Drake it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks. What matters is you and me. You're stuck with me, for good now.” Emma pulled out the ring from under her dress and Drake grinned down at the sight of it.
“I'd like it a lot more if it was on your finger, but I'll take it Barnes.” Emma turned and wrapped her arms around Drake as he pulled her closer. Looking up at him she stood on her tiptoes and gave him a quick kiss. She caught Drake off guard, but he leaned down for another kiss, losing themselves in the moment. They pulled away at the sound of someone clearing their throat. Busted...again.
They turned to find Hana standing there shyly.
“Sorry to interrupt... everyone's headed back towards the estate.” Drake and Emma followed Hana and joined the group. After everyone had wandered off, settling into their rooms or exploring, Emma found Penelope wandering around looking for her poodles. After searching the estate, they found them with Zeke who was tending to one of their paws. He confessed his dreams of being a vet, despite being the heir of his family's house. It had clearly taken a lot for him to admit that, but it was clear he trusted Penelope and Emma saw her opportunity, she convinced him that telling his family would be important and in return, he agreed to attend her wedding. Zeke walked Penelope to her room and Emma heard the sound of footsteps behind her, turning she found Liam.
“To what do I owe the pleasure? I'm not going to be read the riot act again for, yesterday am I?” Liam smiled dryly.
“I was actually coming to see if you'd like to sample some of the foods from tomorrow?” Emma looked at him suspiciously.
“No ulterior motives?”
“I would like to talk but I promise it will be civil.” Emma eyed him once more before shrugging.
“Let's do it.” Liam led her over to a small tray with various food samples on it.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” She asked between bites. Liam set his sample down and took a seat, Emma following him.
“I talked to Drake last night, after the spa.” Emma swallowed hard, she didn't think she liked where this was going.
“I want to apologize for my behavior again, I got quite upset with him about what happened. You have done an amazing job on this tour so far and successfully recruited everyone and rallied the people. That's not all though.” Emma was surprised to hear the praise from Liam, it was an uncommon occurrence these days.
“I'm worried about Drake. He told me about his nightmares. I gave him my therapists card, but I don't know that he'll call. We used to talk all the time, now,” Liam sighed, “now not so much. Just keep an eye on him for me, will you?” Emma squeezed Liam's hand.
“I know Liam. I'm worried too, but he's getting better. You know you can always talk to me too.” He squeezed her hand in return.
“Thank you, Emma, but it's just strange for me still.” Emma nodded in understanding.
“Oh, I wanted to tell you, I told Olivia, she shouldn't give us anymore trouble.”
“Thank you.” She stood and straightened her dress and began walking away.
“Would you like to finish the samples?” Emma gave him a small smile.
“No thank you Liam, but I've lost my appetite.” Emma was racked with guilt. She felt that Liam and Drake's friendship was falling apart because of her, and she hadn't stopped to even consider how much she and Drake hurt Liam every time he caught them together. She couldn't believe that her life had become so crazy. She couldn't blame herself though, none of this was her fault, no one was to blame. It was just a shitty situation. All Emma wanted was to curl up in Drake's arms, forget about it for a bit and make sure that Kiara wasn't trying to seduce him, she had been all over him. She checked the time and realized Drake should have been there by now, she pulled out her phone to text him and saw he had already texted her. Kiara had caught him in the hallways, he told her he got lost looking for the kitchen and went back to his room, he was stuck there for the night. Emma groaned and fell back onto her pillows.
