i did say i’d try to do at least a few days of this week! i guess this kinda counts for both prompts, since tallulah is canonically HoH? i think of her as a bimodal bilingual, or someone who speaks vocally and gesturally, so here’s a small drawing of two sign language greetings, in LSM and BSL! i just couldn’t decide which one to go with haha

I love them a reasonable amount i swear. (Pomme on the second panel is the proudest i've been doing a drawing she's perfect just LOOK AT HERRRR)

i think of Lulah as hard of hearing and Pomme as mute. The sign language was tough to do because the joke of this is that they're using diffrent sign languages, pomme is using LSF (french sign language) and Tallulah is using ASL (American sign language). Honestly i did want her to speak LSM (Mexican sign language) or BSL (British sign language), but the thing about those is that usually when looking up a sign language in english, even if you specify it isnt ASL, google gives you ASL. And i dont speak spanish so i wouldnt have been able to look up LSM in spanish, where google would actually give me correct answers. The only reason im mostly confident i got the LSF correct is because i speak french and could look it up and understand what youtube videos were telling me. But with Tallulah maybe Fit taught her ASL and that's why she knows it. I'm thinking too much about language anyway with their powers combined Tallulah and Pomme would create Quebecois sign language in this essay i will-

Summary: Frustrated and desperate to stop hearing Wei Wuxian’s voice echo in his ears, Lan Wangji makes a mistake with the Lan silencing spell that he cannot undo. Temporarily muted, Wei Wuxian struggles to pretend that he’s fine, while Lan Wangji struggles to make it up to him. Kay's comments: This story feels like someone searched my brain for all my favourite things and then made a fic out of it and I love it. Here we have a Cloud Recesses Study Arc canon-divergence where Lan Wangji accidently uses a very strong muting spell on Wei Wuxian, which leads to him not being able to speak at all. It doesn't go well for anyone involved, but it also gives the opportunity to get to know each other better sooner. Love how the author went all-out on panicked gay teenager Lan Wangji, who just can't handle having a crush and miscommunicates so hard at every opportunity and I love how Wei Wuxian's muteness is explored and what that might mean for his relationship with his peers. Excerpt: Jin Zixuan scowled from his place behind the Jiang boys, crossing his arms and glaring at the back of Wei Wuxian's head, "You've already got everyone looking at you as it is– are you that desperate for attention, Wei Wuxian? Would you quit treating everything like a game?" Wei Wuxian tried to make another noise as he threw a nasty glare behind him. “No,” Lan Wangji finally forced the world from his lips, hot frustration and a bit of anger pushing up through his chest as he watched Wei Wuxian face ridicule and scorn for Lan Wangji’s mistake, “Not a game.” Jin Zixuan huffed, “See? Lan-er-gongzi doesn’t have time for your playing around, Wei Wuxian!” Wei Wuxian had been shaking his head back and forth, but quickly slowed to stop as he realized that it didn’t matter. No one was paying his nonverbal protests any attention. “No,” Lan Wangji tried again, voice tight, “Not playing.” Jiang Wanyin and Jin Zixuan wore matching expressions of confusion, them and the rest of the disciples watching Lan Wangji as he struggled to find the words to explain. He was frustrated, and the words that were normally so difficult for him now felt almost impossible. Wei Wuxian was the one who couldn’t open his mouth, but Lan Wangji was starting to feel like he couldn’t breathe.

Posted an animation of what I hc Sonic's name in sign being the other week, and thought it would be nice to post Tails' next!! This is what I came up with!!! :D

In the video, Tails is signing his name, using the word ‘tail’ in BSL, but with two hands, copying the gesture on the left as well as the right. Tail is signed by having the index finger and thumb pinched together, with the remaining three fingers extended out. The hand starts out at the waist before the arm lifts at the elbow to face height. Tails leans slightly to the right as he signs, head and ears tilting tilting and tails lifting upwards slightly. As he signs, he mouths his name.

Theme this year: A World Where Deaf People Can Sign Anywhere.

From organisation 'Deaf Australia': "[NWDP] opportunity for Deaf people to celebrate their communities, language, culture and history; make the public aware of their local, state and national Deaf communities; and to recognise their achievements."

first: the phrase "my mom's house" leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I hate saying it, it feels bad, and I don't want to do it anymore, so I'm not going to.

my parents name their houses so from now on I'll be referring to the old house as "Starsong" and her new house that she's moving into as "Sirkun Pesä" (the Finnish name for the house). I'll link this post the first few times I use those terms but y'all will get used to it.

anyway.

while I was at Starsong, house of a thousand windows and no curtains, my body completely reset from depression-induced "I will sleep all day and all night" to "I can wake up when it's sunny! there are things to do today!" and it hasn't gone away since I've gotten home.

"that's great!" you might say. "a wonderful development in recovering from ongoing grief and depression!"

okay sure maybe if I had increased energy and more shit to do. I do not. instead it just means I'm awake longer. and it's (adhd voice) so boring.

I am leaving the curtains open to let in more daylight because I really do think that I can't sleep all day if there's natural light in here. but oh my god. you ever get mad that you're recovering? I do. what am I supposed to do with this??
