It was 4 years ago that I sat on a 36 hour train journey without internet, when it made a brief stop in Santa Fe. I somehow managed to connect to a wifi as the news trickled through of a major fire in West London. My nan had written to me already but I was not prepared for what was about to hit me. The images will be with me for a lifetime. I passed Grenfell tower almost every day on the tube. I lived around the corner from Grenfell for many years. I was in the US at the time and was amazed with the support the public had shown. On my return, I felt the anger, with many of those affected felt. How could this happen? How was this fire allowed to spread so fast and so veracious? Four years on and the answers seems a little more obvious, yet no one has been put to justice. In fact, can we truly say and trust that the lessons have been truly learned to prevent something like this happening again?

Yesterday was the 4 year anniversary and usually I would walk side by side with those whose scars from that very day, you feel and whose lives have been forever changed. I am still walking in spirit with each and every one of them. I am with you and I like you want justice. I wish for not only justice but that this will never ever happen again. That the lessons will be learnt, that changes will be made and lives do not have to be lost.

My words may only be words but I hope that for everyone or anyone who may read this, and with all the support and empathy shown at the beginning, please know that this community still needs your support as much as on the 14th June 2017 💚.
