BLUE MOON BALL DAY FIVE/SIX: "Fine dining"
While i was in the bathroom, i disgorged about twenty five large chunks of cobaltite, which completely demolished the (thankfully clean) bowl and tank of the toilet, and left a rivulet of greywater flowing out under the door to soak into the floorboards. I left the poisonous and dodecahedral rocks to their own business, alongside the toilet's ballcock, laying pathetically on the floor, and headed to the dining room.
I was starving after a long night with no snacks to speak of (apart from a couple of oranges and a mouthful of brass), so i sat down on a wooden chair near the end of one of the tables. Though, as soon as i sat down, my tail erupted in pain from touching the back of the chair, so i was forced to sit on the chair side-saddle, hiding my tail under the tablecloth so nobody touches it. My entire torso hurt from the fight with the automatons.
A silver call-bell was waiting for me. I rang it, and a small charcuterie board floated over to my position on the table. I consumed its minature yet vast arrangement of hard cheeses, hams, sausages, pastrami, forcemeats, mushrooms, prawns, savory pies, bread, crackers, grapes, olives, lettuce, peppers, radishes, carrots, cucumber, and celery, though i shunned the miniature pickles. Small dishes of vinaigrette, caviar, blue cheese, and honey were provided alongside the starter.
The next course of the meal was a most abhorrent combination. Which was, according to the little plaque that came with it, the meat of a lobster and a whole Kobe steak together with Pule, Stilton, Parmigiano Reggiano, Västerbotten, and Halloumi cheeses, tuna, black truffles, seaweed, jalapeño, ghost pepper, guineafowl, pheasant, alligator, quail eggs, beef tomatoes, spaghetti, onions, lettuce, banana, saffron, foie gras, vanilla, rice, fugu pufferfish, and a most unpleasant concoction of sauces i can't all remember, all stuffed between the buns of a burger, sous vide, baked into a pastry shell, deep fried, and finally bathed in a different seething mixture of liquids.
The other people near me at the table glanced with concern as i choked down the Ozymandian ex-Soviet apartment complex of the "Four Elements sandwich", one thin and inesculent slice at a time. Serbian cheese and Japanese fish waged total war upon French duck and Vietnamese shrimp paste. None of the flavours mixed well, the fillings spilled in every direction once i broke through the bomb-proof exterior with my woefully non-vorpal knife, and if i couldn't get the "horrible safari-themed barbecue inside the Deepwater Horizon" taste out of my mouth, i feared that i might have developed a fatal case of Reggae Reggae Sores. My bleeding nose was not helping the situation, and it peppered the aftertaste with a generous hint of sweaty pennies.
My face was covered in various sauces after eating that crude obelisk dedicated to the pharoh of conspicuous consumption, so i made haste and re-entered the bathroom to wash it all off. The dessert was a pleasant variety of chocolates with strawberry ice cream.
After the meal, we all walked outside into the gardens, and down the main path towards a small french-style pavilion building. Behind the building was a wonderful view, as the treeline was short, and the Blue Moon was finally visible. I took a picture on my camera, of course. We were then seated on wooden benches facing the river, and the fireworks were set off. The display went on for ten minutes, but i was in too much pain to really care about it.
Those were my fifth and sixth logs of the Blue Moon Ball. Everything hurts. I'm tired. I want to go home.

National Crunchy Taco Day
There’s nothing quite like a delicious crunchy taco to provide super-satisfying flavor for lunch or dinner.
Whether making crunchy tacos at home or grabbing up a few at a local restaurant or chain store, National Crunchy Taco Day is a delicious day that is worth celebrating!
History of National Crunchy Taco Day
The word ‘taco’ can trace its beginnings to the 18th century when workers in the silver mines in Mexico started using the name for little tortilla wrapped meats. This working class food was named after the ‘taquito’ of gunpowder wrapped in paper that the Mexican miners would use to blow up the rocks. The name migrated to the US as the taco developed its crunchy side.
While typically served at Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurants, the crunchy taco has decidedly American roots. In fact, in some Spanish-speaking communities, it is referred to as the “anglo taco”.
Tacos are traditionally served on soft corn tortillas in Mexico, but the crunchy fried shell is a more recent version of the food. The first written recipe for tacos written in English was included in a cookbook in 1914 and the recipe was written for tacos that were meant to be fried.
It wasn’t until the 1950s that the founder of Taco Bell helped make famous the idea of creating a fast way to make crunchy taco shells. Glen Bell had grown up in California where crispy tacos – soft tacos that were filled first and then fried – had become very popular. But the idea of frying the tacos into a U-shape prior to filling them was fairly new. So Mr. Bell decided to open a restaurant originally called Taco Tia, which then turned into Taco Bell.
National Crunchy Taco Day was founded particularly for those who really enjoy celebrating the delightful, tasty flavors of Tex-Mex foods. It’s a day to appreciate the simple things in life, like a little bit of spicy meat, some shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and so much more.
But the most important thing to appreciate about National Crunchy Taco Day? Well, it’s the crunch, of course!
National Crunchy Taco Day Timeline
1890s First taco reference
The term ‘taco’ associated with miners in Mexico is first referenced in the late 19th century.
1914 Earliest known English-language taco recipe
As part of “California Mexican Spanish Cookbook”, this first taco recipe in English is published featuring a crunchy shell.
1962 First Taco Bell opens
This restaurant, in Downey, California, will go on to become the largest chain of fast food taco joints in the world.
1969 Old El Paso in supermarkets
Old El Paso becomes the first national brand to offer a full line of Mexican meals in supermarkets, urging the creation of a Mexican food section.
1986 Taco Bell expands to London
Sadly, Taco Bell can’t make a go of the crunchy taco this time around and closes in London by the mid-1990s.
How to Celebrate National Crunchy Taco Day
Paying heed to National Crunchy Taco Day is certainly no burden! It’s all a delightful way to celebrate this particular taco as well as all things Tex-Mex. Have fun celebrating the day with some of these ideas:
Enjoy Eating Crunchy Tacos
On National Crunchy Taco Day, an obvious – and probably even obligatory – choice is to make sure to eat some crunchy tacos for a meal, whether lunch or dinner, or even for a snack! Crunchy tacos bring a certain kind of delight with mouthwatering flavors and delicious toppings.
Choose a basic crunchy taco with simply meat and cheese, or add a few more toppings to make it even more tasty. Add shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes and sour cream for a supreme version. Or get even more adventurous by adding other toppings such as grilled onions or chunks of avocado. And, of course, don’t forget to add a bit of spice by piling on the hot sauce!
Make Crunchy Tacos at Home
One thing that is really great about tacos is how simple they can be to make at home. But crunchy tacos also offer tons of opportunities for those who enjoy creating more complex flavors in the kitchen. Obviously, one of the most vital ingredients in making crunchy tacos at home is the need for crunchy taco shells. These can be easily sourced from a supermarket or Mexican grocery store and then heated in the oven at home. But they can also be made from scratch, for those who are feeling a bit more adventurous.
The next more important ingredient for making this dish in honor of National Crunchy Taco Day is the meat. Most people choose ground beef to serve inside of crunchy tacos, and it tastes best when it has been able to marinate in delicious seasonings for some time before serving.
While the meat is cooking, create a bar full of yummy options for topping crunchy tacos. Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, sour cream, hot sauce, black beans, refried beans and guacamole are all items that people love to pile on top of their crunchy tacos. Choose a variety of options and let everyone make their own decisions about which topping options are their favorite!
Host a National Crunchy Taco Day Party
Tacos are a fun food to celebrate, and they’re especially easy for groups of people to pitch in. Set up a crunchy taco bar in the breakroom and work and have everyone bring a different topping. Or invite friends over to the house after work for a tasty taco bar at home. Plus, at home, it’s fun to be able to add some traditional Tex-Mex drinks such as pitchers of Margaritas, cold Coronas, or Jarritos for the kids.
While crunchy tacos are certainly the star of the show, it might also be good to add other elements to the party to get everyone in an even more festive mood. Decorate with a Tex-Mex theme and put on a playlist with traditional Mexican themed music, like from a Mariachi band. It might even be a fun idea to ask guests to dress up in a serape, sombrero, or some other nod to traditional dress south of the border, just to complete the occasion. For dessert, serve some churros, sopapillas or flan.
Get Creative with Crunchy Tacos
For those folks who tend to have crispy tacos on the regular, whether making them at home or ordering them at a restaurant, it might be fun to get a bit more creative with recipes in honor of National Crunchy Taco Day.
When making crunchy tacos at home, try out some of these ideas that can add a bit of flair for the occasion:
Crispy Tofu Tacos – fill crunchy shells with fried tofu and add toppings.
BBQ Crunchy Tacos – substitute regular ground beef with barbecue.
Potato Tacos – made with mashed potatoes, cheese, lettuce and sauce, this one is great for vegetarians.
Fried Avocado Tacos – just like the crispy tofu tacos, also for vegetarians!

✅My current aesthetic is me does 90s does 60s but the 90s. They're doing the 60s but they are mostly doing the 90s. My current aesthetic is Sloan Coax Me music video 1994 but not actually the Clothes they are wearing but the vibes of the Clothes and the vibes of the Song. I would never wear what They are wearing. Which I know doesn't tell you anything but understand what I am going for I have no proof of I Believe I am the first to Do it. I think Sloan Look Good Here but I am doing Sloan 90s does 60s but through a Beat Happening lense. I am doing it as I approach the band from a Butterfly Rock Perspective. It is the same general vibe, but I am baby Teeifying it. I am doing it with subtle Lisa Frank flare. But it is all so oversized longsleeve nonetheless. Of Course, the thrift store only provides so much of what I am Looking for. It all depends on what i have to work with. And of course, some looks are more Twee than others.🤩🤟
✅Take for example my Orange cardigan with the Blue and Yellow checkered skirt and tulip pattern. This is what Jay Ferguson would wear if he were a member of early 80s Tweepunk band Dolly Mixture. This is the perfect look to wear to a Super Friendz concert in 1997 because the Super Friendz are so Swangin Sixties. I wore this look when I worked at Goodwill and this woman said that that was exactly how they dressed in the Sixties. This is Christine by Stephen King the novel. 🚗💖
✅However, I am even more in favor of my longsleeve Pink turtleneck with the baby tank with the Pink and Orange butterfly in the middle and lettuce hem effect layered over top, with my long dark-wash denim skirt, Pink liz claiborne belt, and Silver daisy chain hanging on one side. This look is Revolutionary because I don't even know what to tell you. I take my Inspiration from lots of places. I guess it is why I dropped the Lisa Frank label earlier. But I imagine that if I were Chris Murphy's girlfriend in the 90s I would get him into wearing more brightly colored Ringer Tees that fit him small like a baby tee. He Would look kind of like Kelso from That 70s Show but also a Depop girlie. And we would look nice together, me in that outfit.🦋💖
✅Overall, though the Default is the 90s light washed Bill Blass Easy Fit jeans with the distressed hem at the bottom underneath my oversized Matthew Sweet "100% Fun" lite brite t shirt and yes the daisy chain belt on the side for this look as well. Matthew Sweet is not Sloan but of course if I knew Sloan in the 90s I would have Self-Consciousness due to having Limited experience online to learn about Self-Consciousness and how to combat it and I would be too scared to wear Sloan merch in front of Sloan so I would wear other power pop merch. Today I wore this look with a Black cardigan because it was cold, but I took the Black cardigan off so that this guy who sits behind me in Class could read the Matthew Sweet song titles because it Doesn't matter if he Doesn't know who he is, it makes me feel cool. I will wear these thrifted Doc knock offs until my sweat Wears off every part of the Inside. I am so power pop vibe. I am...in so many ways am Sloan Coax Me music video 1994🎵🤟

Mystery the Turtle info;
Tumblr media
Information on my original character, Mystery the nunchuck wielding turtle, from my disney descendants au "The Badun Detective Agency."
Mystery's full name as given by the B.D.A is Mystery Conundrum Noir.
He is at least six years old by the time the barrier is brought down.
He primarily eats lettuce.
He lives in a cardboard box habitat that the B.D.A made and decorated for him.
Contents of the box: Tiny pictures taped to the wall, a rock food bowl, the gold nunchucks he was found near, a tiny TV, a tiny circular bed, a grim figurine added, and a little Barbie pool for him to swim him.
He is part snapping turtle.
The box is decorated on the outside to look like a house.
The B.D.A take turns taking him home and taking him on walks.
He has a Detective badge too. On his collar.
It's a black collar with a gold and silver badge.
Mystery has a colorful personality. So much so that the agency thinks he might not be a normal turtle.
He actually uses the nunchucks by picking them up with his mouth.
He has a staring problem.
He also has a miniature cerberus figurine.

2024-06-10: MEMS-6/Harfeld (High Density, Poor)
Phase III Construction, 30 Stories Tall, Pop 177,703
Though ill-equipped to serve as a retirement community, impoverished seniors flocked to Harfeld for its rock-bottom cost of living that still has the amenities of a place that's good enough to be almost lower middle class. The only hospital in Harfeld closed years ago, but NTK established a lot of goodwill among the residents by opening a gerontology center that provides a few services tailored to an aging populace. NTK also partnered with BerComm to perform a long-term "AR Rejuvenation" study.
Augmented reality headsets from BerComm are combined with individualized bioinformatic data aggregated by NTK to provide targeted muscle and joint pain relief for people, which is combined with the AR headsets to allow the participants to appear as younger versions of themselves. This effect is perceptible by the user in mirrors and reflections, as well, so long as the AR headset is still worn. The population acts at least a decade younger, and the popularity of the program means users seldom take off the headsets. It's the cheaper way to age in place, denying the ravages of aging until it can't be put off any longer.
Districts
Silver River Estates
NTK paid to relocate older people to some recently-renovated tower near the gerontology center in the name of promoting accessibility. It's a self-serving action that allows NTK to mine more information from the people who live inside NTK's housing.
The Pantheon/Church Street
In one of the more crumbling parts of Harfeld is the place where real-estate is cheap enough that unconventional religious organizations set up here. Cheap land is a necessity because all religious organizations lost their tax-exempt status years ago. A wide variety of faiths are represented here; more established ones are able to have buildings that work in semi-harmony with the belief systems, but many more are just emerging from the shadows of recent creation. The less reputable and newest movements (many just call them cults) practice in illegal squats and often try to convert members of other faiths from the alleys and sidewalks.
Ongoing Issue - Dead Lands
The oldest residents (as well as people who were priced out of places that still had plants) remember when cities had green spaces and soil that wasn't toxic. Many try to recapture that sense of life by painting trees and plants on walls and utility poles to seem more alive. Others set aside a few leaves of expensive lettuce and glue them to structures to have something green in the area. It never lasts long, and law enforcement is on the prowl for anyone attempting to vandalize the city's infrastructure in such a way. Of course the fine that is levied is disproportionate to the "vandalism" but that doesn't stop people who year to see real green spaces in public again.

it's slowing coming in. i took these photos about... 5 or so days ago, and since then, I've thinned out some tomato seedlings (and need to weed out more.) and the cucumbers and mesclun seeds have started to sprout. and ive come to realize you cannot contain peppers. they're starting to grow and even though I seeded them in a neat little row, they're all over the place.
still no watermelon, eggplants, ground cherries, collard greens, spinach, lettuce, or broccoli.
basil is finally making an appearance, but only in one out of the 4 pots.
as for the indoor plants, my cattleya gave up and died. my mom's orchid is stabilizing. the other 2 are growing tons of roots and i need to take better care of not getting the inside of the leaves wet and waterlogged, but the bathroom environment is doing them well.
The Monsteras, i put the deliciosa in a bigger pot and tried again to attach them to the moss pole. i cut some of the adansonii and will root them to make the current pot a bit thicker. to be honest, i should find a bigger pot for them as well, but i don't have the space. 😂
Now for the alocasias...
i lost the dragon scale, not the silver dragon like i thought, and frydek. the Polly is not doing well so i split them into 3 places, the terrarium, along with the silver dragon, a semi hydro (with river rocks) in a humidity dome, and one i left as is and loosened up the moss for more airflow. The nebula is struggling. The Cuprea and Chantrieri are precious baby rockstars and thriving. The rest are doing their best.
Now that I'm eyeing the adansonii, i might go ahead and do that now...

大家好! Monday was a public holiday and I was on leave on Wednesday and Thursday, so it was a short work week. Taking the bus to catch up with Grace and Douglas revealed interesting new places and I decided to explore them. 1 of these was a renovated coffee shop with bright and colourful signboards. Besides being airy and clean, there was a variety of food stalls.

I chose wu gu shao ya tang mian (boneless roast duck soup noodles) since I haven't had duck for some time. The QQ (springy) noodles came with a good portion of meat, 2 pieces of tender pork ribs and blanched lettuce, decent nutritional value compared to what is served at the ban mian (hand pulled noodles) stall near the office. It was a surprisingly filling meal too; I didn't feel hungry till past dinnertime. I hope to return to this coffee shop and try out the other delicious fare. There're some noodles that look really yummy.

板面 ban mian with added pork $7.50, up from $6.80 at the stall near the office

With Xmas over, preparation for Chinese New Year begins. Colourful stalls selling auspicious red and gold lanterns, banners as well as other home decorations bearing lucky wishes start to dot various parts of the country. Spending the last of my leave playing local tourist was even more fun as I wandered around and soaked up the joyous atmosphere. We had the afternoon off on Friday, so I was back at the office in the morning. After that, Grace, Douglas and I had our weekly catch up.

2022 is drawing to a close. In many ways, these last 12 months have been very tough for many people globally. Skyrocketing inflation, dining establishments and food businesses practising shrinkflation/skimpflation, sticking to a budget, belt tightening and a decline in living standards are just some of the things the world faced. But we also minimised food waste, progressed to a greener way of life and relearned survival skills from generations before us. This enabled us to become tougher and more resilient, which is a much needed silver lining.

From tomorrow onwards, we start life with GST at 8%. I'm taking Pa out for lunch and will also explore a little over the long weekend. Perhaps I'll return to the renovated coffee shop I shared about in the last post and try different noodles! There's a stall whose signature dish looks really delicious. 下次见!

Childbirth in the XIIIth century
The greatest hazard in the life of a woman of the thirteenth century is childbirth. If she survives the childbearing period, she stands a good chance of outliving her husband. There are no obstetrical instruments and no techniques for dealing with a breach presentation. Caesarian section is performed only when mother or child is dead, and then without antiseptics or anesthesia. If the pelvic opening is too small for the child's head, nothing can be done.
The baby's chances of survival are poorer than the mother's. Many die at birth, more during infancy. Birth defects are common, and generally attributed to supernatural causes.
[..]
When labor is imminent, the lying-in chamber is prepared for visiting and display- the best coverlets, fresh rushes on the floor, chairs and cushions. A cupboard exhibits the family's finest possessions- gold and silver cups, enamelware, ivory, richly bounds books. Dishes of sugared almonds and candied fruits are set out for the guests.
Doctors do not attend women in childbirth. Men are excluded from the lying-in chamber. Midwives are therefore indispensable, so much that when Louis IX decided to take his queen along on a Crusade, he also took a midwife, who assisted at two royal childbirths in the Orient.
During labor the midwife rubs her patient's belly with ointment to ease her travail and bring it to a quicker conclusion. She encourages the patient with comforting words. If the labor is difficult, sympathetic magic is invoked. The patient's hair is loosened and all the pins are removed. Servants open all the doors, drawers and cupboards in the house and untie all the knots. Jasper is a gemstone credited with childbirth-assisting powers, as well as the powers of preventing conception, checking menstrual flow, and reducing sexual desire [..]
When the baby is born, the midwife ties the umbilical cord and cuts it at four fingers' length. She washes the baby and rubs him all over with salt, then gently cleanses his palate and gums with honey, to give him an appetite. She dries him with fine linen and wraps him so tightly in swaddling bands that he is almost completely immobilized and looks not unlike a little corpse in a winding sheet.
He is shown to his father and the rest of the family, then placed in the wooden craddle next to his mother's bed, in a dark corner where the light cannot injure his eyes. A servant rocks him, so that the fumes from the hot, most humors of his body will mount to his brain and make him sleep. He remains securely bundled until he is old enough to sit up, lest his tender limbs be twisted out of shape. He is nursed, bathed, and changed every three hours, and rubbed with rose oil.
Well-to-do women rarely nurse their own children. The wet nurse is chosen with care, for all manner of qualities may be imbibed with her milk. She must be of good character, have no physical defects, and be neither too fat nor too thin. Above all, she must be healthy, for corrupt milk is blamed for many of the maladies that afflict infants. She must watch her diet- eat white bread, good meat, rice, lettuce, almonds and hazelnuts, and drink good wine. She must rest and sleep well and use moderation in bathing and in working. If her milk fails, she eats peas and beans and gruel boiled in milk. She avoids onions, garlic, vinegar and highly seasoned foods [...]
The baby is usually baptized the day he is born. Covered with a robe of silk and gold cloth, the little bundle is borne to church by one of his female relatives, while another holds the train of his mantle. The midwife carries the christening bonnet. Nurse, relatives, godparents and friends follow. If the child is a boy, two godfathers and a godmother are chosen; if a girl, two godmothers and one godfather. The temptation to enlist as many important people as possible in the child's behalf led to naming so many godparents that the Church has now restricted the allotment to three, who are expected to give handsome presents.

💦Seitarou’s P.O.V💦(Point of View):
“So student 25, what are you going to be doing on this day?” I asked a certain excited, jumpy green haired american. “Well today I’m going to be hanging out with Master! Look, I even made him a letter, and bought him some candy hearts!” Nico rambled, his dark crimson coloured eyes sparkling. As well as holding up the item for me to see.
The item he held on his left hand was a neon coloured card, with a few traced characters from various animes. While on the other hand, was a clear nicely wrapped plastic bag that contained the tiny different coloured heart shaped candy, with little cute messages engraved on them. “They look nice. He probably would enjoy them!” I responded, clearly impressed with the items. In return I received an excited nod.
After escorting Nico to the infirmary for him to get his medicine he immediately went on to finding Upa. When he finally did, he gave the said items to him, receiving an embarrassed ‘thank you’. As well as a little kiss on the cheek, when he thought people weren’t looking.
I softly smiled at the adorable couple. I walk back to my locker, opening it in order for me to get next classes’ textbooks. Once I opened it, a bunch of stuffed chocolate poured out onto me, covering me.
“Damn pretty boy getting all the freaking chocolate!” Uno shouted to himself, clearly mad. “Well that’s fine I have jyugo. Someone he’ll never have.” Uno explained to himself, snuggling on to the black haired Japanese native. About to give him a passionate kiss, before Rock interrupted them. “Can you guys get a room?” Rock suggested, holding a certain long haired chinese’s porcelain hand.
They slowly went to the cafeteria, planning to skip class and just hang out. While heading to their destinations, I managed to see that Rock planted a soft kiss on his lover’s lips, while Jyugo handed Uno some chocolates. I smiled once again, feeling overjoyed for the couples. I quickly head over to the library, planning to borrow some books to read before class starts.
As I entered the library, I saw that Qi was sitting on Musashi’s lap, reading him a book about different kinds of plants, and what their medicines are used for. In return, the more Qi talked about the plants, the more Musashi snuggled up to him. “Hey students 71 and 634, remember to go to your next class. It starts at 12:20!” I reminded them, getting a lazy nod in return.
After getting the books I wanted to borrow, I immediately headed over to my next class, planning to eat lunch there and read the books. I arrived at the class, getting out my lunch before setting it down on my assigned desk, and putting my bag at the side of my desk, while pulling out one of the books I borrowed. After doing all that I sat down on my seat opening the bento box that was wrapped in a blue polka-dotted cloth.
As I lifted the wooden lid my eyes widened, sparkling. ‘Wow, Hitoshi’s getting much more better at making bentos! I have to compliment her later.’ I thought to myself. There laid before me, was 2 rice balls that seemed to have eyes made out of small circular shaped seaweed, while there were 3 pieces of cut tamagoyaki on the side.
The other side from the tamagoyaki were 3 cut pieces of crispy chicken. Next to it were 2 cherry tomatoes. All of the items were laid on various pieces of lettuce with a nice sauce on it, adding much more to the flavour. I lifted my silver chopsticks, picking up one of the tamagoyaki, munching down on it happily. ‘This tastes like absolute heaven!~’ I thought to myself, looking up to the sky letting the taste guide me.
“That looks absolutely delicious.” A certain voice called out. I looked over to my side, seeing that it was Trois. I nod my head, eating another piece. “Want to try some of my lunch?” Trois suddenly asked, making me deny it at first, until he started to insist, making me give in. He searches through his bag, finally he pulls out a small clear container with a mint green tint. I lightly tilt my head to the side, not knowing what to expect.
Suddenly he tilts my chin with his index finger, feeding me a spoonful of what seems to be a sort of cake. After feeding me, I immediately put my hand in front of my mouth, so that crumbs wouldn’t fall out. I start to chew on it, focusing on the taste, feeling absolute bliss. “It tastes delicious!” I admitted. “It’s a french dessert called Fraisier, which is a certain strawberry cheesecake.” Trois explained, about to feed me the rest of it. Once realizing this, I feel my cheeks get warmer.
All of a sudden we both hear the doors slam open. I turn my head towards the door, only to see a certain familiar purple haired person with various arrows protruding from his hair, panting, clear signs that he runned over here. He quickly sits next to me, pulling out a clear container, shoving a spoon in my mouth. Once realizing that it was just some apple pie, I munch down blissfully.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
💢Honey’s P.O.V💢(Point of View):
‘Hah! Beat that idiot!’ I wondered to myself, looking behind Seitarou to see what Trois’ reaction might be, flashing him a smug smirk. Trois looks over to me smiling politely, even with the scary purple aura surrounding his figure. In return I flash him one of my famous middle fingers, my smirk still not leaving my face.
As I did that I continued feeding Seitarou my apple pie. Smiling at his blissful face, making me just want to just plant a soft passionate kiss on his plump lips. Suddenly Trois taps Seitarou’s shoulder making him turn around. When he did in fact turn around, he fed him some of his food. The victorious smirk leaves my face, clearly starting to get angry.
As I place my container down, I throw one of the desks behind mines, almost hitting Trois. Although missing, since he dodged it. In return, he threw one of the desks back. Dodging it, a fight broke out between the both of us. We managed to take a quick glimpse over to Seitarou only to see that he went back to eating his lunch, making us continue our fight without any interruptions.
“Ahem! Boys settle yourselves down!”
We both turn our attention over to the head of the class, only to see a disappointed Kiji Mitsuba. We quickly stopped what we were doing, going back to our seats, bowing our heads in shame. Soon after that, class started.
💢Honey’s P.O.V💢(Point of View):
“Yes, What is it, student 82?”
“I forgot my textbook. May I share with Seitarou?”
“Fine , go ahead, don't forget your textbook next time though.”
With that being said I move my chair closer to Seitarous. ‘All of this is going according to plan.’ I thought to myself, a victorious smirk planted on my attractive face.
All of a sudden I quickly slam my hand on the top part of his chair, cupping one of his tainted cheeks with my other hand. As I trapped him there, I guided my hand over to his chin, tilting it upwards, so that his rose coloured eyes met with my emerald coloured ones.
I brush my fingers over his lips, just inches away from kissing him right there. Just as my lips moved towards his, I turned his face to the side so that I could whisper something to him.
“This isn’t a dream Seitarou~” Letting go of his face, I saw that he immediately covered his face with both of his hands, making me smirk once again. “Not fair!” Trois muttered to himself, breaking his pencil with both of his hands, looking over towards our direction.
“Ahem! Pay attention to the lesson, students 82 and 03! Seitarou dear, just tell me if these perverts are bothering you.”
National Crunchy Taco Day
There’s nothing quite like a delicious crunchy taco to provide super-satisfying flavor for lunch or dinner.
Whether making crunchy tacos at home or grabbing up a few at a local restaurant or chain store, National Crunchy Taco Day is a delicious day that is worth celebrating!
History of National Crunchy Taco Day
The word ‘taco’ can trace its beginnings to the 18th century when workers in the silver mines in Mexico started using the name for little tortilla wrapped meats. This working class food was named after the ‘taquito’ of gunpowder wrapped in paper that the Mexican miners would use to blow up the rocks. The name migrated to the US as the taco developed its crunchy side.
While typically served at Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurants, the crunchy taco has decidedly American roots. In fact, in some Spanish-speaking communities, it is referred to as the “anglo taco”.
Tacos are traditionally served on soft corn tortillas in Mexico, but the crunchy fried shell is a more recent version of the food. The first written recipe for tacos written in English was included in a cookbook in 1914 and the recipe was written for tacos that were meant to be fried.
It wasn’t until the 1950s that the founder of Taco Bell helped make famous the idea of creating a fast way to make crunchy taco shells. Glen Bell had grown up in California where crispy tacos – soft tacos that were filled first and then fried – had become very popular. But the idea of frying the tacos into a U-shape prior to filling them was fairly new. So Mr. Bell decided to open a restaurant originally called Taco Tia, which then turned into Taco Bell.
National Crunchy Taco Day was founded particularly for those who really enjoy celebrating the delightful, tasty flavors of Tex-Mex foods. It’s a day to appreciate the simple things in life, like a little bit of spicy meat, some shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and so much more.
But the most important thing to appreciate about National Crunchy Taco Day? Well, it’s the crunch, of course!
National Crunchy Taco Day Timeline
1890s First taco reference
The term ‘taco’ associated with miners in Mexico is first referenced in the late 19th century.
1914 Earliest known English-language taco recipe
As part of “California Mexican Spanish Cookbook”, this first taco recipe in English is published featuring a crunchy shell.
1962 First Taco Bell opens
This restaurant, in Downey, California, will go on to become the largest chain of fast food taco joints in the world.
1969 Old El Paso in supermarkets
Old El Paso becomes the first national brand to offer a full line of Mexican meals in supermarkets, urging the creation of a Mexican food section.
1986 Taco Bell expands to London
Sadly, Taco Bell can’t make a go of the crunchy taco this time around and closes in London by the mid-1990s.
How to Celebrate National Crunchy Taco Day
Paying heed to National Crunchy Taco Day is certainly no burden! It’s all a delightful way to celebrate this particular taco as well as all things Tex-Mex. Have fun celebrating the day with some of these ideas:
Enjoy Eating Crunchy Tacos
On National Crunchy Taco Day, an obvious – and probably even obligatory – choice is to make sure to eat some crunchy tacos for a meal, whether lunch or dinner, or even for a snack! Crunchy tacos bring a certain kind of delight with mouthwatering flavors and delicious toppings.
Choose a basic crunchy taco with simply meat and cheese, or add a few more toppings to make it even more tasty. Add shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes and sour cream for a supreme version. Or get even more adventurous by adding other toppings such as grilled onions or chunks of avocado. And, of course, don’t forget to add a bit of spice by piling on the hot sauce!
Make Crunchy Tacos at Home
One thing that is really great about tacos is how simple they can be to make at home. But crunchy tacos also offer tons of opportunities for those who enjoy creating more complex flavors in the kitchen. Obviously, one of the most vital ingredients in making crunchy tacos at home is the need for crunchy taco shells. These can be easily sourced from a supermarket or Mexican grocery store and then heated in the oven at home. But they can also be made from scratch, for those who are feeling a bit more adventurous.
The next more important ingredient for making this dish in honor of National Crunchy Taco Day is the meat. Most people choose ground beef to serve inside of crunchy tacos, and it tastes best when it has been able to marinate in delicious seasonings for some time before serving.
While the meat is cooking, create a bar full of yummy options for topping crunchy tacos. Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, sour cream, hot sauce, black beans, refried beans and guacamole are all items that people love to pile on top of their crunchy tacos. Choose a variety of options and let everyone make their own decisions about which topping options are their favorite!
Host a National Crunchy Taco Day Party
Tacos are a fun food to celebrate, and they’re especially easy for groups of people to pitch in. Set up a crunchy taco bar in the breakroom and work and have everyone bring a different topping. Or invite friends over to the house after work for a tasty taco bar at home. Plus, at home, it’s fun to be able to add some traditional Tex-Mex drinks such as pitchers of Margaritas, cold Coronas, or Jarritos for the kids.
While crunchy tacos are certainly the star of the show, it might also be good to add other elements to the party to get everyone in an even more festive mood. Decorate with a Tex-Mex theme and put on a playlist with traditional Mexican themed music, like from a Mariachi band. It might even be a fun idea to ask guests to dress up in a serape, sombrero, or some other nod to traditional dress south of the border, just to complete the occasion. For dessert, serve some churros, sopapillas or flan.
Get Creative with Crunchy Tacos
For those folks who tend to have crispy tacos on the regular, whether making them at home or ordering them at a restaurant, it might be fun to get a bit more creative with recipes in honor of National Crunchy Taco Day.
When making crunchy tacos at home, try out some of these ideas that can add a bit of flair for the occasion:
Crispy Tofu Tacos – fill crunchy shells with fried tofu and add toppings.
BBQ Crunchy Tacos – substitute regular ground beef with barbecue.
Potato Tacos – made with mashed potatoes, cheese, lettuce and sauce, this one is great for vegetarians.
Fried Avocado Tacos – just like the crispy tofu tacos, also for vegetarians!
I got my ask cleared, so Munday rambles time! For new mutuals, this is just a pile up of OOC that’s irrelevant to the blog or my rodents.
- I am one of those people who adamantly Does Not Like Kids but volunteering at the wildlife sanctuary has shown me I'm actually great with them when animals are involved. Like Saturday I answered all the questions of this little boy at the coyote pen even the ones that were irrelevant and weird like "what if you were stuck on an island with only fruit and cows" and I helped another boy handfeed Ferdinand by guiding his hand with mine and holding it steady since he kept freaking out and dropping the lettuce. And didn't get outwardly annoyed with the girl who kept howling at the coyotes or the little shit who threw a rock at the fence (also his mom yelled MAVERICK and ma'am if you named your child that I think you asked for this) - Started reading Ra’s Al. Ghul stories and he’s indeed really interesting like I thought! I like him a lot. I like his motive as an eco-terrorist, and I also like that it’s in a way very different than Poison Ivy; Ivy loves plants and the lushness of forests and jungles and flowers, but Ra’s loves the bleak barrenness of desserts and snow-covered mountains, and wants the entire world to be like that. I also really like that he’s one of those “villains with a code” types---yeah, he wants to wipe out humanity, but he spares the lives of Alfred and Robin in one story because they WON’T sell out Batman, and he respects that loyalty, and it’s noted he dislikes taking hostages so only does it if he feels the stakes are so high that he has to. I know he’s def not un-problematic in his very Orientalist origins and portrayal but I just love how he feels like the lead of a Gothic novel to me. Talia of course is great as well, but I knew that already! - I notice that the writers make Ra’s a little more shitty with each retcon about his past concerning women. Originally, it’s that he was celibate after his first wife up until he met Talia’s mother. Then it becomes that actually he was with other women until they began to age and then he ditched them, and was petty/horny enough to straight-up engineer Napoleon’s downfall to get with his mistress. As with Shaw, that’s the sort of thing I’d be ok with if it was from the get-go, but the fact it WASN’T and then was shoved in there later directly contradicting previous canon for no real reason except to make him look sexist, bugs me. Like, is he not evil enough? Why add that? Similarly, the fate of Talia’s mother goes from her dying in an accident in which she fell into a in-progress Lazarus Pit and thus presumably could not be resurrected, to that she died of a drug overdose and Ra’s chose not to resurrect her for undisclosed reasons, to that she never died at all but Ra’s just cast her out after Talia’s birth. Like, why? - Speaking of Batman characters, I just found out about Silver St.  Cloud and even though I have not seen or watched a single thing with her in it, I like her because she’s PRETTY. - That said I just find it colossally gross that she informs Alfred the reason she calls Bruce “DD” is because the first night they had sex, he made her orgasm 11 times (double digits) It’s not that I think that’s bad, or that talking about sex is bad, it’s just it feels like something the writer shoved in as a self-insert sort of fantasy? The writer of that one, btw, was Kevin Smith, who is also the writer who decided that the reason Black Cat steals is because she was raped, because that super makes sense. These are the only two parts of Smith’s comics writing career I know of and neither gives me a high opinion of him, which is a shame because I do genuinely love Clerks and Dogma. But apparently you can’t ever let him write hot women in comics or you get this shit.
