#silver the hedgehog lore

I have issue with the way Sega went about silvers character and apparently at one point in the past month I decided to rewrite his entire lore so

(Disclaimer: a lot is changed, this was note taking, and the original future timeline has shifted a LOT)

what if silver was created by eggman to be the ultimate weapon, a NEW take on Shadows construction. A biological lifeform that can channel chaos energy in NEW ways, and absolutely keep order to the eggman empire.

What if, when he was being created, he was left in stasis, forever a prototype with no test schedule. So now there's this incompleted glorified servalence and order organism, and he's got Psychoconesis so he doesn't have to get his hands dirty. He's a hedgehog because that's what shadow was and eggmans still working off of Gerald's ideals, and also isn't that just a KICK in the face to the fallen hero, in the end? He's not immortal. He could never quite figure that out, although his life force is strong in diffrent ways. The formation of telekinetic chaos abilities strengthens his brain, something that he would need to fix. Monitor. He needed him to NOT be as sentient and free thinking as shadow, and so, that sets back the project.

Silver is a passion project, named silver because while eggman is gold, the highest honorary position of leadership, this hedgehog will be his concluded victory. His second in command. Because eggman never was really a fan of dirty work.

Silver, project s. A being that, after the 'first apocalypse' went wrong, was let loose from his prison and introduced to the world. It was an accident. He wasn't finished yet, fixed yet- He grew up in less than a year because, well, he needed to survive. Eggman bots chased him, attempted to capture him, but he'd seen the world around him and the eggmans face plastered on every billboard. He'd seen families in alleyways cry, had mourned their world WITH them as they explained to him its condition.

He knows he was kept there, woken in a faulty crio pod in the wreckage of a collapsing base. Chalkboards with notes and diagrams were brushed over in place of keeping himself alive so he doesn't know much, but his glimpse of the lab gave him an idea.

And then little planet happens, just like it does every 11 months. And eggman attemps to colonise it, just like he did back then. Silver, after realising his abilities, is well on his way to gain some revenge, and some answers if he can help it, too. So he leaves for little planet and finds runes. The time stones, and yes. Time, a way to manage and bring ORDER to this apocalypse. A way to FIX things, once and for all and he knows, then, what he's going to do. He'll bring order. He'll maintain, and he will protect.

He has a run in with the eggman that created him as he gathers the last of the time stones into his quills for safe keeping. Eggman is excited to see him, sending his bots down to grab and contain him. But alas, as the adjustments to silver were incomplete under his care, he had neglected to understand his capability. His raw power, his raw DRIVE, and his undeniable sentience, reminiscent of Shadow himself just as the original scraps of arcs blueprints had detected. And boy was there little to go by, a coded text, kept locked in prison island and only UNCODED after years in his possession.

But, i digress.

Silver learns from eggman that he is imperfect, flawed, that the evil genius isn't FINISHED with him, and Silver is curious. He is a child to the universe and so, he asks questions. He gets few answers but he's smart, for his age, just as robotnic had designed him and so with little information the general image is formed regardless.

Silver then, vows. He vows to stop him, no matter what it takes, and then time stones are flinging silver BACK. Way, way back.

Over timeliness, silver learns of a golden glow that paints the sky in times of absolute distress. Legends, almost, through every year. Its in carvings on angel island, and its proclaimed with statues that flicker in and out of fallen futures. Memorials for their last hopes flame being snuffed out, more bronze than gold under the grit.

And then he meets him, and he is. He's gold, a hedgehog like himself, glowing and warm and smiling as he defeats their foe with a motion lost to his own eyes.

He is silver, and this hero, is Gold. The key to the future. And he was only ever really meant to be loyal to gold.

Diamond castle au- Silver as Melody, the muse apprentice!

Son of the muses of dance and history respectively, Silver had been apprenticing under the three muses ever since he was just a young god, all with the intentions of becoming a muse himself one day when he was ready, being inspired by his parents’ beautiful music

However over the centuries as he was growing up, tensions began to grow and grow between his parents, to the point were they could barely stand to be in the same room together without being at each-other’s throats (i mean they usually were at each-other’s throats but the vibe was more venomous than out of sense of competition), so much so that their music wasn’t in harmony anymore, just, like, total dissonance

The arguments got so bad that Silver started spending most of his time with the muse of music, Mephiles, to get away from the fighting. But then Silver overhears that he plans to take over and rule over all arts by himself.

He ran to his parents to tell them what happened and, thinking quickly, the two muses made the decision to hide the castle along with their instruments, telling Silver the key to finding it again just in case something went wrong while they were confronting Mephiles, telling him to get as far away as possible and hide so that, no matter what happens, Mephiles won’t find out the castle

To hide, Silver used his whistle to hide inside a mirror and has been stuck inside for millennium since, stuck in eternal silence for fear of being found. He doesn’t know what happened to his parents but hopes that one day they’ll find him and set him free

…2000 years after he hid inside the mirror, it’s found by two girls with beautiful music

Infrequent Sonic ('06) facts - Soleanna and its cuisine.

In Soleanna New City you can come across an NPC who will discuss the cuisine of Soleanna. What he reccomends is based on the Hedgehog's campaign and the time in the Campaign. Each foodstuff relates to their hedgehog and their tastes.

Sonic: The Frite sandwhich

Sonic's is the frite sandwhich; it is described as a local junk food favouite, it is made of fish, vegetables and lemon juice inside a bun and is then deep fried. Similar to Sonic's beloved chili dogs they are a fast and easy meal that are easy to enjoy on the run.

Shadow: The Soleannan Crab

Similar to Sonic, Shadow is offered advice on seafood, however. Shadow's is the more refined Soleannan crab. Described as being world-famous due to its juicy meat and intense flavour - turning down a Soleannan crab is said to be akin to turning down a date with Elise herself.

Silver: Soleanna's fruits

Unlike Sonic and Shadow, Silver is instead offered advice on the fruits of Soleanna - perhaps alluding to his love of apples. Of all the fruits, the Soleannan apples are world-famous, decribed as being crispy yet bursting with sweet, flavourful fruit. They are even used in all kinds of Soleannan cooking as a 'hidden flavouring'.

End of the game: Desert

Fitting for the end game, if you visit him again with any hedgehog once you have finished their campaign, the man will tell you about tasty Soleannan deserts including their sorbets made with fresh fruits.

learning that mirage has a bad relationship with his dads makes me so sad :( are they sad? do they feel disappointed? do they stay up late at night wondering where they went wrong? those poor guys have been through some shit

I'd say they are more exasperated than sad?? Silver in particular is always trying to reach out and connect with Mirage, but Mirage finds him annoying more than anything else. Both Silver and Espio have a pretty strong sense of justice, so the fact that their son is a morally ambiguous spy who has no real allegiance with good or evil stresses them out LOL

Mirage is just a very intelligent, aloof, and independent person. He gets along a bit better with Espio than he does with Silver, mainly because Espio knows when to back off. Silver definitely mourns the days when Mirage was an itty bitty little lizard that only wanted to hang out with daddy, HAHA! 😂

A couple of characters set in the future.

Mephiles and Iblis are sort of reincarnated into normal Mobians in the future, since the 06 events kinda rewrites history for a moment.

Mephiles is a sort of father figure to Iblis, helping her through the wastelands and developing her Chaos Abilities of Pyrokinesis. Mephiles himself has the ability of illusions, he can change his form at will. He lost his leg, so he uses his ability to make it seem like a metal spike is there instead of a stick holding him up.

Iblis and Silver have these bands wrapped around their limbs, they are Chaos Energy suppressors, like Shadows Ring Inhibitors. They are supposed to be a temporary attachment until the user is properly trained into being able to control the chaos ability they have, the more Chaos Energy they have, the more suppressors they need to wear.

Silver unfortunately has Telekinesis, one of the hardest Chaos Abilities to master, and since he had no one to properly train him, he will likely never be able to take off his suppressors.

His father abandoned his family shortly after Silver's Chaos Ability developed, knowing how big of an issue it would be to train and properly use. Mercury, Silver and Zinc's mother, was absolutely pissed by him suddenly flaking on her, and has to raise 2 children alone in the apocalypse now. She tries to look at the bright side of things though, teaching valuable morals and making sure everyone gets a good laugh in each day.

Zinc is the baby sister, and due to her being a literal baby, she can't retract her claws or walk properly yet. So Mercury carries Zinc around wrapped in a blanket around her back.

Silver is a shy kid, he blames himself for his dad abandoning the family, and feels like a burden because he can't handle his Chaos Ability yet. Plus, it doesn't help that he looks a lot like his father, almost like a constant reminder of the man who left his family. Mercury keeps trying to tell Silver that he's done nothing wrong, but he begs to differ.

Shadow ages slowly, very slowly. Even after 200 years, he only went from looking 15 to looking like he's almost 30. He's mostly alone, with Omega being his only company for a while. He goes about his day with his Dark Rider being a bounty hunter, doing odd jobs he finds at the mission board in popular cities and towns.

The last gift he received was from Tails, he cherishes it as a reminder of the time he had with the main cast of characters 200 years ago.

He eventually takes Silver under his wing, becoming a sort of father figure to the poor, lone hoglet. He teaches him a bit of how to control his Chaos Ability, but because he doesn't have telekinesis himself, he can only do so much. They'd need to actually find a person with the ability to properly teach him.

Been having a lot of thoughts about ep 7 lately and how that applies to the au. Sonic's body getting contorted and changed into becoming a puppet to the solver... him losing agency as the episode progresses... hrm lots of the thoughts indeed.

On Instagram, someone asked in my Q&A how Sonic got his piercings. This lore has been in my head for ages and I finally had an excuse to draw it out.

When Eggman started looking for people to form a band he knew he had a criteria he wanted to check off:

musically inclined (obviously)

young

no experience in being in a more 'formal' band (ie labels, managers, ALL THAT STUFF) he needed to make sure that they wouldn't understand that his form of band management is a lot more controlling than what it should be.

and if possible, already a little well known (like maybe they've performed at small gigs before or had a video go viral or something)

he got orbot and cubot to compile a list of people that would tick these check boxes !!(my guy does not have time to be scrolling and looking for people in the city who'd be good candidates for his band, he has nefarious plans to make).

eventually he received said list- looking through it only two really seemed to stand out, both hedgehogs, Sonic and Silver.

Sonic was known for his street performances, he'd play his guitar in the city centre as a way to share his love for playing as well as earn a little extra cash on the side, he was liked and people knew him well enough.

Silver had once posted a cover of a song on social media (team chaotix insisted he do it abskhd they encouraged him to share his talent with the world!!) and it got pretty popular fast!!

both with zero experience in doing anything professional and they seemed to lead fairly mundane and normal lives.

but two members for a band felt REALLY slim, he needed atleast one more member. but again none of these other people felt like good fits- and a band of hedgehogs, he could go somewhere with that. THEN HE REMEMBERED HIS COUSIN SHADOW.

and from then on he contacted them with INCREDIBLY vague info on what he was planning and bam Triple☆S was formed o7
