Blowtorch, updated for EP 15
Tumblr media
Maxi's worlds emptied of era specific stuff – made for simmers who wants themed hoods of their choice.
Now updated for EP 15 - For Rent
So, you found T.O.O.L, the super useful mod by Twisted Mexi, and learned how to decorate your sim world.
But there is this problem with Maxis houses and items, which do NOT fit in your sim world. So far, the most used method has been to hide them, as in either move them away (if even possible) from sight or use a hider/override to make them invisible. That method has its limits, is very tedious (need to find, make an override, ect. , and there are SO MANY items)
Blowtorch has another approach. It takes out the items (houses, vehicles, modern deco, well - all silly deco really) from the world. You can then place nicer deco or game items instead.
The items are not hidden from catalogue, so you can place the same items back but in a different place if you so wish. Or use cc deco. Make the world medieval, or Victorian, or sci-fi, or whatever.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
This mod edits the preloaded deco in the world. It changes game files – and the changes will affect all your saves, old and new. If you decide that you want the deco back, you can do it either with the GAME REPAIR function or using the backup of the original folders that I included in the mods folders.
You can either use all my edited files – or the ones you want. If you for example want Willow Creek to be as it always has, but want a blowtorched Oasis Springs, just delete the Willow Creek files before installation, and keep Oasis Springs.
I have blowtorched almost all the hoods in the worlds, both EP and GP: s (See list below for exceptions.) If you don’t have all EP/GP I recommend to delete the ones you don’t have before installing.
(Save the zip with the mod somewhere safe so you can add new worlds when you add a new EP/GP with a world.)
Here are some general rules I went by:
- All landmarks, architecture deco, street deco, vehicles, with special effects - blowtorched
- Functional objects: outside tables, playground items, and such – blowtorched. Place them again where you want them!
- All lights, both streetlights and built in hood lights, blowtorched.
- All palm trees, ever pink trees, wispy modern beeches, and other modern plants, blowtorched. (I of course kept the palm trees in Sulani and Selvadorada)
- ALMOST ALL THESE THINGS (not the built in lights) are still available in the catalog (debug, live edit) items though. So, if you still want a modern, but DIFFERENT hood, you can place them again, as you want them. This is a big advantage compared to hiders – those usually hide the items also from the catalogue.
- Visual effects belonging to vehicles and other stuff mentioned above, blowtorched. No modern yachts, no airplanes.
- The lights are gone. The world will be dark at night if you don’t place streetlights or such.
WHAT I KEPT
I kept the seasons stalls, where they are available (if you have the Seasons EP.) They can also be placed, but as they are in conditional layers (changes with the seasons) this can't be done by placing them manually.
I kept all spawners. All the fishing spots and all the bugs, frogs, dig sites, wild growing plants.
Lighting mod included
This mod also includes the Sunblind lighting mod by Softerhaze. Lighting mods also change these files, so I added Sunblind with the creator's permission. Read more about their mod here.
This updated version includes the update from Softerhaze after EP 15. It includes EP-15 files but they also updated changes to EP3 and EP9. All are included with my new update.
https://softerhaze.itch.io/sunblind?download Read more here!
(You do not need to download or install the mod; it is included in the Blowtorch mod.)
If you want another lighting mod or no lighting mod, you need to edit the files manually.
This is done by replacing the resources “Sky Box Texture Data” and “World Timeline Color”.
ECO LIFESTYLE NOTE!
Unfortunately the Evergreen Harbor world that came with Eco Lifestyle (EP 9) has some special evil magic and the deco needs hiders anyway. If you play with that world and want it to be BLOWTORCHED, install the file ELHoodHidersMerged in your Mods folder.
Other recommended mods:
Check out T.O.O.L and Twisted Mexis other mods here: https://twistedmexi.com/Mods/
To add deco stuff outside lots:
T.O.O.L – at Tmexis page you also find information about his CAW-project, still in alpha testing.
I also recommend his Better Build/Buy mod, and his toggle mods, especially the Strangerville Story Toggle on if you want to use Strangerville as a normal world. And also his that enabled build/buy on the Secret Lab lot – in new saves.
Zerbu has a couple of super useful mods:
All Worlds are Residential https://zerbu.tumblr.com/post/173398784785/the-sims-4-mod-all-worlds-are-residential
Venue changes https://zerbu.tumblr.com/post/160347810775/the-sims-4-mod-venue-changes
Twelfth Doctor has a great mod for travelling to all the hidden/special lots, so you can edit them: https://td1sims.tumblr.com/post/635457539495084032/travel-to-venue
Q&A about Blowtorch mod
1. Can I use this on my old saves?
Answer: Yes. The mod does not affect the saves, or your CC, or anything other than the game files in the Windows directory. You can easily uninstall the mod by using the backup files (included) or do a Game Repair.
2. Why are there stuff not deleted? Annoying modern fences in Windenburg Ugly Modern Business district, for example?
Answer: some items are a part of the world mesh and is not yet possible to edit. If there will be a solution later, I will update the mod.
3. Will I have to update the mod after patches and new expansions?
Answer: Yes. If the patch/ep/GP does not include a new world, you just reinstall the mod (see instructions below) as you installed it the first time. I will make updated versions asap when new worlds are released.
4. I don’t have EP X or Y – can I use the Blowtorch mod?
Answer: Yes, but I recommend deleting the folders for EP/GP you don’t have. See list in the PDF-file with documentation.
Where to find nice themed hood deco to use with Blowtorch?
You can basically use any item, from game or CC, to decorate hoods. Try out the options with T.O.O.L to change the size of objects!
I already posted some Hood Deco CC – and I have much more to come. I have been converting/editing/creating and preparing hood deco from Sims Medieval, Sims 2 and Sims 3 and other games – my CC is medieval/historical themed but I hope for other creators to add to the hood deco options in the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note: I know its confusing with all the files to download, due to the upload limits. In short: The Backup files - you don't DO anything with them, if you don't want to uninstall the mod. You can also use Repair game in Origin/EA App, it does the same thing.
If you have difficulties with the installation, please DM me and I will help.
My Empty Save File - Start Fresh!
I also updated my Empty Save to include Tomarang. A totally empty save with no houses and no sims besides my lonely builder sim.

Also, I'm completely overwhelmed at the thought of building worlds from scratch, but I had to play around with the mod a bit because it's just so awesome!

@eliaskahtri replied to your post “[pm] Guess who has two thumbs and got in last...”:
[pm] Yeah. I'm here for good. [...] You know, I could use someone with a keen eye for interior decorating, you know anyone? [...] That is how seeing someone works, you have to use your eyes, yeah. I mean, we don't have to if you don't want to, I just [...] want to. We haven't really talked since everything that happened, not [...] properly. And I think we should. [...] You played the Sims? Which one? There are 4.
[pm] Why give yourself such a death sentence?
Jade likes decorating, as it turns out. She's never been Her personality shines through in her decisions, I think. Perhaps not as clinical as my taste, but superior, because it's her. You may prefer different photos on the walls.
I didn't– I didn't say that I don't want that. I haven't really, um, talked to any of you. Yet. Wynne, briefly. The ham child even more briefly. It doesn't... I don't know. Are you certain? Do you remember when my grandmother stabbed you? Multiple times?
Jade had it on her laptop. I don't which version it was, only that they wouldn't return to the computer once they escaped.
You don't happen to have a blowtorch, do you? And do you prefer the kazoo, or the vuvuzela? Those two questions are unrelated.

Moonwood Village
Tumblr media
Moonwood Mills, to be fair, was always a pretty cool place. But, with the Blowtorch Mod, I was taken aback by how much it had really become the blankest canvas I've seen in the Sims 4 thus far. Sulani is a close second. My game's era isn't medieval, it's pretty much early 20th century fantasy, but I couldn't resist turning Moonwood Mills into a cute little hamlet of quiet farmer folk on one side of the river, and all manner of forest dwellers on the other.

Sulani Hiders - Early Simvilization Saves
Tumblr media
This Mod returns to the world some items that were hidden in the Sulani Hiders - Prehistoric Saves mod, bringing the world closer to a world at the early civilization.
Esse Mod devolve ao mundo alguns items que foram escondidos no mod Sulani Hiders - Prehistoric Saves, deixando o mundo mais próximo de um mundo no início da civilização.
Tumblr media
My mods for hiding objects in the world aren't perfect. Some items simply insist on not being hidden... I swore that the plate below belonged to the base game, but now that I hid the items from Base Game Hider - Prehistoric Saves I realized that it wasn't. I can't find the plate in Sims 4 Studio to "delete" it. Cars and lights don't disappear either.
Tumblr media
If you think that more hidden objects in Sulani Hiders - Prehistoric Saves are consistent with this Age and may appear in the world, download Sulani Hiders - Early Simvilization - Modders and delete the object packages you don't want to hide. Don't forget to delete the images. They just take up space in the mods folder.
Tumblr media
Download (only one version) | (apenas uma versão).
Sulani Hiders - Early Simvilization Saves
Sulani Hiders - Early Simvilization (Modders)
This mod conflicts with Sulani Hiders - Prehistoric Saves, and probably shouldn't work with Simsverse's Blowtorch.
Este mod entra em conflito com Sulani Hiders - Prehistoric Saves, e provavelmente não deve funcionar com Blowtorch da Simsverse.

Case in point -- Smiler’s finally making an effort to get to know the chickens! Yeah, now that I’ve turned off old age for the farmyard animals, these particular chickens will be hanging around for a while, so the gang probably SHOULD try to get to know them better. Interestingly, the hens seem to get along better with them than the roosters, generally -- though this rooster seemed impressed by Smiler’s vampire idle animation. XD
Anyway -- once all the cats had been cuddled and chickens fed and entertained, Alice and Smiler went to take care of some repairing around the house (the upstairs shower -- to be fair, Alice herself broke that one after her last shower) and the wind farm (as always), while Victor finished up the day’s “lie down” training with Shadow. And once that was all taken care of, I decided that my Sims deserved a day out! Specifically, I felt they deserved a day out --
At Geekcon! Yeah, I don’t go to Geekcon a lot because my Sims generally have conflicting work schedules. But I’m actually trying to have Alice and Smiler use up as many vacation days as possible before quitting their jobs currently, so -- yeah, they had the free time to pop over to the Fashion District and see what was going on there! And what was going on to start was mainly cosplayers and rockets. I had the gang all go work on the buildable rocket to start, banging and blasting away with hammers and blowtorches -- they didn’t get VERY far, as you can see, but they all gained some Rocket Science skill, with Smiler in particular getting it all the way up to level 4. Nice. :) Smiler then spotted their pal Presley in Off-Brand Mario Bros cosplay and went to have a selfie and chat for a while (I was hoping to get them a drink, but as it turns out Presley was pregnant and thus unavailable), while Alice headed over to the food stall and Victor disappeared inside the observatory to observe the sky. Hey, it’s a rare GeekCon where it wasn’t raining to start -- might as well take advantage of it and see if he can get a cool print, right?

Installing Blowtorch, detailed explanation.
You want to install Blowtorch, my mod that takes out the ugly modern deco in Sims 4 worlds, but you are confused. Here comes a more detailed explanation.
Step by step:
Download the files either from Patreon or SimFileShare
Unzip the zipfile called Blowtorch
Tumblr media
in your Documents folder, or other folder where you keep sim files, outside of game folders. This zipfile just contains the file structure.
Now:
Tumblr media
After unzipping the mentioned files in Documents/Blowtorch, you have a repository for the mod.
Now you can always reinstall or uninstall it with two clicks.
Install:
Tumblr media
This is what the Documents/Blowtorch should look like after unzipping everything.
Select the folder named The Sims 4. Right click. Copy.
Now, click on shortcut to YOUR location for gamefiles – I provided one for EA Games (if you have EA app) and one for Origin (If you still have the files in the Origin folder) Both these are in C:/Programs – if you have them elsewhere, go find them – for example on an external harddrive.
The shortcut takes you to the The Sims 4 directory where all the game files are installed.
Paste the The Sims 4 folder from Blowtorch you just copied, here. You will be asked to overwrite files. Say yes.
If you want to uninstall, repeat this process, but copy the The Sims 4 folder in Original Files instead.
If you don’t have all expansions, or for other reasons, want to keep some worlds NOT Blowtorched, go inside Blowtorch/The Sims 4 and delete the worlds/hoods you DON’T WANT, before copypasting the folder to the game folder in C:/Windows.
Download the PDF with documentation and list of EP:s/GP:s worlds/hoods here (SimFileShare)
Oh, and save the downloaded zipfiles somewhere. I am sorry I had to make it a 3-part-download but the limits of filesizes are what they are.

Day 1: Introducing the Farmer of your choice! (I am very late)
@stardewvalleysebastian
I am very late but I just saw these so i'm gonna do them! Every week is Stardew appreciation week) [Warning - Cussing happens]
1. First things first! What’s their name and age, is there a special significance to their name? Gush about who they are!
Brady O'Sheine, she's something like 26-28 (hello indecision!). Her full name is Bralynn, but she really kind of hates that name, so Brady is it! Her style is pretty laidback, but she knows how to dress up. She in the second eldest of 4 kids (and also the only girl), raised basically by a single mother and her eldest brother. She is a sassy little shit that will smack you down so hard if you try to talk shit about her or anyone she cares about, Joja like destroyed her patience and restraint so prepare to be emotionally crippled~! :D
Also, be warned, you really piss her off/do something she will start tossing around legal stuff like no tomorrow and you will leave unsettled, and unsure whether you're gonna get sued or something. (Morris should watch out)
2. What was your farmer’s life like in the city? Were they a part-timer at jojacorp, were they just fired from their dream job?
City-life was basically a lot of scrambling for money to pay bills and rent.
Her father was never really around when she was a kid, but a few months before her youngest brother was born he just completely disappeared. Of course that was also when they found how much debt he was in, so her family grew up pretty on the poor side, with her mother working three jobs and her eldest brother putting off college to take on a couple jobs of his own. This left her, as the second eldest, to take care of her little brothers (not that she really minded).
She started working in Joja's customer service during her third year of college, in an attempt to get her school loans paid off, a couple years later she got moved to telemarketing and a few more years after that she was placed in the position she had at the start of the game. During this time she graduated law school and passed the bar, but wasn't able to find any work so continued working at Joja.
3. Why did your farmer decide to leave the city? Did your farmer have a loved one in the city? A significant other, a pet, a best friend?
She was well and thoroughly sick of Joja's by the time she finally opened the letter from her grandfather, but she didn't actually quit Joja until a few months after that. She hadn't wanted to just leave her family with one less paycheck, but her mother finally sat her down one night and told her that she didn't want her to put her life on hold, and that if she wanted to move to the Valley they would be okay. Even then, her mother's words didn't really stick until she (and her older brother) promised her that leaving wouldn't mean she was abandoning them.
Moving to Pelican Town left behind her mother (Rena) and three brothers (Emmet/Benson/Jacob), and her best friend, Emelyn. (Funfact! Emelyn is one of my farmers too, just obviously not in Brady's world lol.)
4. How did your farmer adjust to the farming life? Was it hard to get up early in the morning, are they deeply afraid of bugs?
Slowly. And with a lot of aches.
Getting up wasn't that hard, at first. But then she actually started cleaning up the farm and planting more crops, and she'd be exhausted by the end of the day, which lead to a groggy/grumpy morning. She eventually adjusts of course, but still, she figured out pretty quick that just becoming a farmer was a lot easier said than done. It's amazing the woman didn't lose any fucking toes or fingers. Someone save poor Harvey from stupidly stubborn city-girls who think they know what the fuck they're doing (Spoiler: they don't).
She's not technically afraid of bugs, but she makes an exception for those big ass fly things in the mines, the second she hears fluttering noises she nopes the absolute fuck outta there (cue frantic pickaxe-ing in search of a ladder). She's a real big fan of figuring out how to get a blowtorch and hauling it down, just for the, and I quote- "big swarming fluttery bitches." First time she saw one she marched right over to the Adventurer's Guild and banged on the door until Marlon answered so that she could yell "What the actual fuck Marlon?!"
5. Who was the first townsperson to make your farmer feel at home?
Shane actually. She was coming out of Pierre's with a bag of soil while he was on his way to work, they ran into each other and the corner of his nametag ripped a hole in the bag as they backed up, spilling soil all over the two.
Cue a "holy fuck" from Brady and her trying to apologize, he tells her to fuck off and walks away. She kinda just stands there for a second, half annoyed half surprised. Up until than she'd kind of started feeling a little disenchanted with the town as everything seemed so perfect and idyllic, but for some reason the encounter finally cemented that this place wasn't just a cozy little dreamtown with no problems.
Call it a rude awakening if you want, but Brady was more than thankful for it. That night she stopped by the tavern, bought a beer and dropped it in front of Shane. Then she left without a word, smiling the whole way back to the farm and finally feeling content with her latest life-choices.
(Shane is confused lol)
6. What season is your farmer’s favorite season, and why?
Winter. Let her live for five minutes without sweating to death over a patch of fucking parsnips or pumpkins and she'll be the happiest person you've ever fucking seen.
7. What is your farmer’s most favorite thing in the whole wide world?
Family meals. The only rule in her house after her father left was that the dinner table was a safe space; no arguing, no drama, leave your stress at the door. Since her mother/brother were always working Brady decided she would be responsible for feeding everyone. She spent most of her pre-highschool years learning how to cook, so that it would be one less thing her mother/brother had to worry about, by highschool she made every meal for the family.
Her other favorite-ist things are her Grandfather's antique cutlass and spicy foods (especially wasabi).
8. Is there a favorite place your farmer likes to hang out at? If so, why?
Depends on her mood I suppose.
If she's in a good mood she'll go sit at the tavern and people watch.
If she's in a lonely/self-doubting "why did I come here what am I doing I don't know how to fucking run a farm I should have just stayed at Joja" mood at night she'll go sit(hide) in the little cave on the farm and watch the bats do their thing.
If she's in a... Hm, idek how to describe this mood exactly, a "I've done so much more than I ever expected and that's great but what's next? I feel like my whole life has just been waiting for something and I'm so tired why am I waiting? What am I waiting for? How do I get it to happen so I can stop feeling like this" mood, she'll either sit by her Grandpa's memorial (day) or go sit on the cliff with her legs swinging and just look down at the waves/water (night).
9. What song perfectly matches your farmer?
(I'm awful at these oh god) Um.. I'm gonna go with Swan by Willa.
Bonus: draw your farmer in their most iconic outfit! Or, write about their first few days on the farm!
Sim!Brady (1st outfit) - Drabble (+ Her tag)

Blowtorch, updated for Lovestruck (EP16)
Tumblr media
Maxi's worlds emptied of era specific stuff – made for simmers who wants themed hoods of their choice.
Now updated for EP 16 - Lovestruck

This mod edits the preloaded deco in the world. It changes game files – and the changes will affect all your saves, old and new. If you decide that you want the deco back, you can do it either with the GAME REPAIR function or using the backup of the original folders that I included in the mods folders. If you do that, all your saves will have the original deco back.

Lighting mod included
This mod also includes the Sunblind lighting mod by Softerhaze. Lighting mods also change these files, so I added Sunblind with the creator's permission.
This updated version includes the update from Softerhaze after EP 16.
https://softerhaze.itch.io/sunblind?download Read more here!

Twelfth Doctor has a great mod for travelling to all the hidden/special lots, so you can edit them: https://td1sims.tumblr.com/post/635457539495084032/travel-to-venue
This mod is also useful if when you work with TOOL: Clickable worlds by Awingedlama
Answer: Probably, but not always. When you load the game after the patch, you will see if the original deco is there. If so, re-install.

Note: I now have all the files for download on my Dropbox. They are in a couple of zips. The main one contains a folder called "The Sims 4" which contains the modded files.
The Backup files - you don't DO anything with them, if you don't want to uninstall the mod. You can also use Repair game in Origin/EA App, it does the same thing.
I suggest you unzip the files to a folder somewhere to have if you need to reinstall the mod or the original files.
Dont forget to also download, read and save the PDF Documentation-file :)
If you have difficulties with the installation, please DM me and I will help.
Optional: Installer Script (for Windows only)!
This clever script from @tricoufamily can be used for an easy install of the Blowtorch-files (which include the Sunblind light mod)!
Like this:
Download the Sunblind Installer (link to creators page with download link)
Click on the file and open it, a text file opens which you can edit.
Check the path to the gamefiles. If you use the EA App, it should be: "C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4"
Now edit the path to where your Blowtorch files are located, for example: "C:\Users\$env:USERNAME\Documents\Blowtorch\The Sims 4"
Now click on the script file (run it with Power Shell), and it will install Blowtorch. Note: Always read the instructions also for Blowtorch in general.
My Empty Save File - Start Fresh!
I also updated my Empty Save to include Ciudad Amorada with a builder sim.

Blowtorch - small update (for EP 10, Snowy Escape)
Tumblr media
It was brought to my attention that unwanted, evil, VFX were still present in the Mt Komorebi. (In the lowest hood). To avoid a large update I offer a small update to that world only here.
To install: Unzip the file in your Blowtorch folder (where you keep the Blowtorch files outside game) in Your location/Blowtorch\The Sims 4\Delta\EP10\Worlds\Areas
The file is named EP10_TouristTown_01.world
Now, copy that same file and navigate to your game files - if you have them in /EA Games: C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Delta\EP10\Worlds\Areas
and paste the file there, say yes to overwrite.
If you don't have EP 10 Snowy Escapes, you don't need this update.
This update will be a part of the next big update of Blowtorch, when time comes.

What is Blowtorch?
It's a mod to avoid loading all the annoying hood deco, which makes historical gameplay (or any specific themed gameplay) so much better. Read more here

No need to reinstall. I will check more thoroughly for stuff that loads anyway, but overall seems fine.
Read more about the Blowtorch-mod here, a mod to stop ea modern deco from loading.
Happy simming!
