Had this au spinning around my head for awhile, finally got some drawings done for it lol

It’s a complete reverse au where instead of the Magnus Institute and Jon being the chosen one, it’s Martin and it’s now a Lonley aligned hotel: The Lukas Hotels, where you’ll never want to leave.

Also don’t mind the layout inconsistencies I am still working on how this hotel looks

I have been considering it for some time now and finally came to a decision: I'm officially turning Monster Hotel into a dating sim game! It will take time - as I'm the only person working on it - but I will slowly build up the main part of the game and then introduce individual romance routes after release. Here's the concept so far:

You found a well-paying job as a housekeeper for Cozzmos Hotel. The kicker? It's filled with monsters, all the way to the staff. You're the only human on grounds, and the monsters have certainly noticed. There are some guests who've taken quite a liking to you, coincidentally the ones whose rooms you must clean. You can choose to snoop around and learn more about the mysterious creatures, and you can give in to their flirtatious attempts in order to know them even better. It all depends on you.

Technical details: I will be using Ren'Py for this, so it'll have a Visual Novel format with some branching and multiple endings. Will post the occasional update here and on Ko-Fi, but do keep in mind this is a hobby project on top of everything else. Nothing too grand by any means, just a fun idea to pick up Ren'Py again and practice my Python skills.

something I realized after watching Jenny Nicholson's video about the failed Star Wars Hotel is how the gameplay during this $3000-a-person experience is VERY similar to the gameplay of The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu game pack - a game which basically no one bought.

Go on "vacation" to Batuu. Choose a Resistance, First Order or Scoundrel game story, and talk with/receive missions from their affiliated NPCs. Walk around doing repetitive task that involve a lot of "searching crates" or "hacking terminals", but never really get any visual effects, because gameplay is largely text based, and also often glitches. Rey and Kylo Ren are there.

As much as it isn't fun to hear Jon yelling at Martin, the end part of Mag 56 is so hilarious to me.

Listen, there is NO evidence to support Martin's claim about lying on his CV, and frankly it's kind of a weak cover story. You are required to show proof of your qualifications when you get a new job on the strength of them - not to mention ID - and even though on a relisten we know Martin's telling the truth and that Elias has his own reasons for hiring Martin, Jon doesn't know any of that. There's nothing to back up Martin's story and given how paranoid Jon's been since Prentiss, not to mention the fact that his specific concerns about Martin were that he might be hiding his own cunning behind the image of someone bumbling and soft (Jonathan "right for the wrong reasons" Sims strikes again) it is wild to me that he accepts this so quickly.

It's almost as though he's eager for Martin to be innocent, even though everything he's previously said about him would indicate that he'd rather it was Martin than Tim or Sasha, the assistants he respects professionally and likes on a personal level. It's so easy to picture him just blue-screening while poor Martin sits there expecting to be fired/screamed at again.

You go the whole 9 yards—marriage, kids, a family pet, a big house, and all that fun stuff. But if that’s not strange enough, you have certain mods to make the gameplay more “realistic.”

Now, imagine how they’d react when you leave your laptop unattended around them. They’re curious why you keep smiling, giggling, and even biting your lip whenever you’re on it, so they decide to snoop and… they see themselves as a sim doing certain things with your sim, watching the gameplay with wide eyes and flushed cheeks.
