coral island, i love you, i'm really excited about the update, but
just about everything in 1.1 is locked to town rank A and above
the damn update dropped me from a good bit of the way into town rank A to about 190 points away from it in town rank B
i have completed damn near everything that gets you town rank points (fully cleared ocean, exactly one item left to go to the altars, like two bugs to go to the museum, a handful of fish) and so it's damn near impossible to get BACK to the rank i was already at before the update
this means i'm doing a shitload of largely fruitless grinding to get back to a level i was already at to which nearly all of the update content is locked
really making me consider fucking off back to My Time at Sandrock, especially given the update bugs and i'm playing on xbox, which will not be getting any patches, hotfixes, or updates for the foreseeable future thanks to the humble games implosion
play My Time at Sandrock, friends, especially if you need a break from the frustrations of grinding in coral island

On my first play through, I didn't persuade Rolan to stay, then ignored it because I didn't think about it at the time. During the party after the Tav saved the Grove, I thought he was just some dick. Then later, I felt really bad when I met him again and learned more about him.
But oh my god. Now, on my second playthrough because I want to fix my mistakes.
He is so my type. I'll do anything for him.

ok i've discovered the best update square did which is make it so that the shortcuts in dungeons if you die actually take you right back to the boss that killed you. perfection. mwah. why did that take so long

Coal-Black
I find it interesting that one of the few things we know about Basil’s physical appearance is his “coal-black hair.”
Ignoring the possibility of Basil being in an insert for Wilde(which is very likely), the fact that Basil never describes himself is pretty interesting especially since he’s an artist, it’s practically his job to be able to recreate visions of others. It’s only thanks to Henry not understanding what Basil means about Dorian’s portrait, that he “put too much of myself into it” that we get to have even the tiniest sliver of information regarding Basil’s appearance.
It’s kinda like that trope in which an artist can see beauty in anything but themselves, therefore purposefully omitting themselves from everything since they are merely there as an underserving spectator.
Basil practically has background character syndrome.
