"A siren commands the spoken word with the wit of a scholar, the passion of a poet, and the ferocity of a warrior." - Unknown
For once in my life I have actually completed a full set of designs/adoptables, which admittedly is a fairly big deal to me sincey ADHD makes it super hard to stay focused on any long-term art project.
But behold! A (slightly hidden) group of siren adoptables! I'm still figuring out how I want to offer/sell them, but I don't plan to price them any higher than maybe 20-25 USD? I might actually need to use toyhou.se again to make sure they're organized well enough 😂
Either way, I expect to have more info/links for purchasing a design in the near future, so make sure to keep an eye out!

MORE FOOD PLEASE!!! TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR MORALLY AMBIGUOUS THIRST TRAP I PROMMY WE’LL BE NORMAL
LISTEN, *I* CANT EVEN BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS MORALLY AMBIGUOUS THIRST TRAP SO HOW CAN I EXPECT ANYONE ELSE TO BE??
That said, I may or may not have started a tentative Pinterest board while I get more of a mental image for how I want this character and his aesthetic to come together—with some enabling and awesome feedback from my wife, there’s a good possibility I’ll be including his character in an ongoing novel idea I’ve been developing on and off for the last couple years (more on that at a later time)!
You can find the Pinterest board here, otherwise have an attempt at a condensed one:
Tumblr media
If nothing else, I’ll be developing him individually into his own entity that, as tumblr tradition demands, I play around with like a doll.
What I can tell you as of right now is that his name is Void, and he is not human—shocker I know—but is part of a largely unknown race called Sirens. They are essentially sentient, humanoid galaxies that are said to be as old as the universe itself.
If you’d like to learn more about them, I have written a bit of content on my WTNV blog @wtnvwritings, or on this google doc.

NAME: Siren (Pl: Sirens)
VARIANT: Phoenix (Pl: Phoenixes)
RARITY: ★★☆☆☆
QUICK FACTS:
Lifespan: 70-90 years
Supernatural abilities: Shapeshifting (into bird-person form and minor changes), enthralling, stealing voices; phoenix subspecies has flame/temperature control, healing tears, rebirth
Enhanced/special senses: Sense desires
Immunities: Sound abilities, phoenix subspecies immune to fire/heat
Weaknesses: Mirrors, blood of enthralled; phoenix subspecies has water, brittle bones
Can detect: None
Detected by: Hunters (rangers), lamia (heat sense for phoenixes)
Additional notes: This species does not have heightened strength, senses, or accelerated healing; sirens do not have an innate sense to allow them to recognize other sirens
DESCRIPTION: Sirens have two forms. The first is their human form, which allows them to integrate into human society. The second is their “true form,” which is a bird-like humanoid form with taloned feet, winged arms, and a third eyelid (nictitating membrane), as well as a mouthful of dagger-like teeth. Though they can’t alter their true form, they can change and manipulate small features of their human form, such as hair color/length, eye color, height, and so on. This is done in order to fit the preferences of those around them if they wish. Siren communities are predominantly matriarchal. They may differ in appearance, diet, and behavior depending on which bird species they’re most similar to. Some sirens may lay and be born from eggs.
ABILITIES: Sirens can tap into the desires of their victims when in close proximity in order to learn what they yearn for, manipulating their appearance to match. They also secrete a hint of their intended victim’s favorite scent to draw them in even further. With the sound of their singing voices, sirens can enthrall a target. The admiration of an enthralled victim makes the siren physically stronger and their abilities heightened, and the victim will do anything for the siren, up to and including murder. The effects of enthralling do not last long when away from the siren, however, and a victim can recover within an hour or so. While lacking supernatural strength, the wings and legs of a siren in their true form have powerful muscles. Sirens have a strong affinity and empathetic connection to birds, and often keep them as pets. Strangely, like birds, sirens are said to have an uncanny sense of direction and rarely if ever get lost. Theory has it that they’re able to navigate via the magnetic poles.
HEARTS: While sirens do not need to feed on humans in order to survive, human hearts have long been a delicacy for them. So while consuming humans or enthralling them is not necessary for a siren’s survival, it is highly addictive. Eating humans has since fallen out of favor with some sirens; those who grew up in more isolated colonies or more traditional families continue this practice. Once a siren has gotten a taste of human flesh, they are prone to craving it more and more.
VOICE: The singing voice of a siren is said to be especially beautiful. Experienced sirens may influence people with their voice and have a degree of control while inexperienced sirens may do this by mistake even if well-intended. All sirens possess an above average musical talent. If a siren’s enthrallment is broken, an experienced siren can learn to temporarily steal a person’s voice to stop them from screaming (and if they wish, use it for their own purposes before it returns to the victim). They tend to be immune to other sound-related abilities, such as the wail of a banshee or the use of verbal hypnosis. A siren must be in the presence of their victim to enthrall. Audio recordings of their voices are beautiful but harmless.
WEAKNESS: If a siren sees a particularly large amount of gore, they will be filled with a bloodlust and be unable to resist themselves. This can also happen if a siren clearly hears the sound of a beating heart. A siren’s true visage can be seen in a mirror (but not a camera), and if seen by the victim, will reverse the effects of the enthrallment. Decapitation or heavy damage to organs can kill a siren.
PHOENIX VARIANT: Much rarer than typical sirens, these fiery sirens have their feathers coated in flames and are able to shift form between human and avian. At will, they’re able to cause their feathers (or skin when in human form) to become engulfed in hot flame. This fire has somewhat different properties to normal fire, and won’t typically cause most objects to catch ablaze. Skin contact with a phoenix while fired up will almost always cause a severe burn and prolonged exposure will be deadly. They’re resistant to all forms of fire and heat themselves. Phoenixes are natural fire elementals, though the inexperienced lack fine control over flame. A phoenix who sings while using their abilities often has even finer control over them. They can also control the temperature of their surroundings while in either form – releasing heat to make it hotter, or absorbing all of the heat to make their surroundings cold. With practice, a phoenix can even do this to objects and living things. Phoenix tears shed in intense emotional and physical distress have healing properties; though they won’t bring someone back from the brink of death, they can aid in healing severe wounds, and even the worst scars.
Phoenixes are not known for stealing voices or enthralling, and don’t share their parent species’ weakness to mirrors. However, they share their heart-eating proclivities and difficulties around gore. They sense desires, though to a lesser degree. They’ve also developed a couple of their own weaknesses. The fire coating their flames makes them susceptible to getting wet, and dowsing a phoenix can make them very sick. Additionally, their bones are more brittle than other sirens, as they’ve become accustomed to using their fire instead of physical strength. They’re easily broken, so most phoenixes avoid direct altercations. When a phoenix dies, it burns into a pile of ashes. If these ashes are exposed to phoenix tears, the phoenix will return to life, starting as an egg, but retaining memories from their past life or lives as they grow. They may still be a unique individual who differs from past selves.
NOTE: While not extensively known, sirens and phoenixes can actually become each other. If a siren is immolated and burned past the point of survivability, they’ll survive the ordeal by becoming a phoenix. Conversely, if a phoenix drowns in the ocean, they’ll emerge alive and as a siren. As far as anyone knows, this isn’t reversible.
SPECIES DYNAMICS:
While these dynamics are considered to be typical, there are many outliers based on character histories, personalities, development, and plots.
Selkies: For siren colonies that exist in somewhat inaccessible parts of the ocean, selkies are a natural ally that will often travel to and from the colonies with goods to trade. Because siren colonies can be so isolated, selkies are sometimes the only sources of non-siren friendship they have. The two species are culturally used to each other.
Mares: Because shapeshifters are “part animal,” they will sense that something is “off” about a mare and may be uncomfortable, but only when they are in their animal or shifted form. This is mostly a sense of unease, but it can result in hostility or loss of control out of fear.
Banshees: Sirens and banshees can both have a rough time growing into their abilities and urges. The two are sometimes encouraged to befriend each other when getting the hang of things, since they’re immune to each other’s sound abilities. Additionally, the slow heart beats of banshees make them less tempting to sirens. Some siren colonies can be found near banshee clans; in these cases, close bonds may be forged and the two species are mutually protective of each other. Banshee feelings on phoenixes can be varied due to their reincarnation being seen as cheating death.
Muses: Siren songs are always impressive, but muses are especially pleased with their vocal abilities. They even sometimes listen at the risk of enthrallment. Some muses and sirens enter a relationship where the muse will feed on the siren, but the siren’s songs will be amplified with greater power and beauty. Some find the short term cost to be worth it.
The Undead: Because the undead are immune to the enthrallment of sirens, they usually feel a sense of safety with sirens, and vice versa. Sometimes a siren colony will even take in a wayward undead who somehow ended up out at sea. Though some phoenixes may feel pity for the undead, as instead of being truly reborn, they seem “trapped” in their cycle.
Vampires & Zombies: Due to their overlapping desires for human meals, sirens often find deeper connections and kinship vampires and zombies in particular. This fondness does not often extend to phoenixes, who usually terrify the undead due to their fire abilities and very nature. A malicious phoenix may even put themselves in charge of a group of undead, having them do their bidding under the threat of a fiery death.
Species with Enhanced Hearing: Species with enhanced hearing may find the songs of sirens to be especially beautiful, drawing them toward the siren even from a distance. This can also make them more susceptible to enthrallment.
Kitsune: Kitsune feel strongly that by their very nature, they’ve earned the right to wield fire and lightning like no others. This snobbery can put them in conflict with supernaturals who are also tied to those elements, such as phoenixes and spellcasters. If they can get past their differences (or rather, similarities), they might find that in close proximity, their abilities synergize to be more powerful together than they would be separately.

@joukaiweek 2024 Day 4 || Flight
New au because I'm sick and twisted and can't stop making them fall in love again and again
Will I dabble in this au after ship week? Highly unlikely, HOWEVER, it will lurk in my brain to play with like Barbie dolls. Sorry, you guys don't have tickets to my mental movie theater :(
Hence, I welcome yall to play around with it yourselves if you so wish! Feel free to brain dump on this post or in my ask box (whichever you feel more comfortable with) as I'd be happy to hear your takes on it ^u^)/
Here's what I've got for any crumbs of lore:
Tumblr media
Uhhh I guess if I had to put a label on it I'd call it some kinda science vs mythos au ????
Basically, Dr. Kaiba (cause he's a scientist with a doctorate, smart boy) works at a highly classified facility (think like SCP) and finds himself assigned to a relatively new and infamous subject (it's Wheeler). The subject is tied to all kinds of rumors, which gained it quite a scary reputation, much to Kaiba's dismay. Unexpectedly, when Kaiba turns up to the job, he finds that the subject is nothing like the rumors. It even calls itself by a name: Joey.
The general idea would be a sort of freedom vs captivity struggle. Kaiba and Joey would have very conflicting perspectives, Joey feeling as though he's just here temporarily to help out and learn about the world (loosely calling himself a diplomat, albeit his trip is not official) meanwhile Kaiba fully acknowledges him as a lab subject to study that has no means of escape.
I also like the idea of Joey falling first, but Kaiba falling harder :3c

this is as far as i got into a diagram of siphos, the dominant life form of Siren, my big big worldbuilding project. it's fuck ugly and i am not lining this. I really liked the idea of alternating generations and a stupid complex life cycle. Ultimately there are no 'plants' on Siren as we know them. Instead we have the 'sessile' generation of the creatures which, in a different 'active' generation, are among the fastest and most active apex predators in the vast freshwater seas of Siren. It took the first human settlers on Siren years to understand that what they were assuming were completely different animals were in fact all the same animal - and, ultimately, it brings into question the definition of 'species' as it stands.
Tides are regular but slow; a yearly occurrence (when not a neap or spring supertide). When there is no or very little water movement (during a low tide phase), the fresh water forms strongly stratified layers, including an anoxic dead zone near the bottom. the increased water flow of a rising or falling tide increases mixing in the water, and provides enough nutrient flow for the sessile adult phase of the siphos to happily live their lives anchored to the substrate, feeding by suspension. each 'leaf' has a feeding structure which i have not designed yet, but also uses gas exchange to create air bladders in a process not unlike photosynthesis. the bladders raise and lower the leaves in the water column to take advantage of zooplankton density (diel vertical migration).
Each leaf produces two motile clone larva which break out and swim away. It's not uncommon for these larva to be released in a swarm when the adult sessile sipho is under attack or being eaten. The two holes in the leaves will slowly refill with the next clones. The larvae swim until they meet larvae of another sessile adult, whereupon they spawn, releasing planktonic gonads for sexual reproduction. the eggs form thick mats on the sea floor (some with an additional 'worm' stage of joined together eggs which trundles along until it finds suitable substrate) and eventually sprout into more sessile adults.
Whether or not the larva undergo sexual or asexual reproduction depends on oxygen saturation in the water. If the water has a low saturation, it is likely due to a period of stratification in the water column (still water at high or low tide). Because there may not be enough prey for a sessile adult to get by on, it triggers the beginning of the active generation. the larva instead divides asexually and enters a kind of locust phase of rapid development into swarms of nymphs which form most of the "fish" in Siren's seas. The nymphs progress through several stages of development, as the water continues to settle and stratify, until ultimately they are able to leave the water. similar to dragonflies, the nymph 2 stage are the largest flying predators native to the planet, and feed mostly on smaller siphos of other species and the insect-like creatures that swarm around the coastlines. the nymphs are sexually active and can lay fast-developing eggs which will hatch into more nymphs. nymph swarms number in the trillions and are very short-lived, taking advantage of only a few weeks of ideal conditions.
during a neap or spring tide year, when the water is liable to undergo extreme, catastrophic changes, the nymph 2 stage will then become fully active adults; too heavy to fly, the adults of the active generation propel themselves via specialised hydrofoil arms. they prey mainly on nymphs of other species (though cannibalism is common) and, since the settlement of Siren, sea-dwelling or even flighted humans. with the ability to travel very far and very fast, these adults are the means by which entire species can uproot and fuck off to a more livable area if the neap tide decides to turn their aquatic home into a new continent.
They do eventually spawn and, depending on oxygen saturation, release eggs that will become nymphs or sessile adults.

Not gonna lie I forgot how much I loved experimenting on how I want to visually represent my original species, Sirens. They’re supposed to be humanoid, but without a single or concrete appearance—a body that looks like literal galaxies, eyes like stars, hair like light, ect.
I got a page of designs I’m working on based on real galaxy formations, so let’s see if this goes somewhere!

Æyldzritchon Subspecies
Nephilim: They’re the enormous, immensely strong offspring of angels and humans, and they can reach up to approximately 10’ 6” (320.04 cm). Human females who give birth to the Nephilim are often prematurely reincarnated into harpies or sirens. On the other hand, human males who sire a Nephilim child are often prematurely reincarnated into harpies or serpents. Both sexes have feathery patches that resemble the plumage of most birds and are usually on their back, chest, outer thighs, and crotch. Nephilim often inherited certain abilities from their angelic parents and are partially immortal as they’re prone to specific human weaknesses and being drained of their life energy. Most don’t possess true forms, but there are a few who do. The oldest generations of Nephilim were rapacious, cannibalistic, violent, and committed every kind of atrocity known to the Æylphitus. After the universal deluge that wiped out the second age of humanity, the Nephilim immediately turned their ways out of fear of extinction. Newer generations still have these animalistic, heinous instincts that the old ones possessed and abused for their own selfish desires. However, it isn’t as apparent and can only be triggered under certain circumstances.
Changeling (plural noun: changelings): They’re either the offspring of a Fajekhomusi and human or two parents who belong to two different Fajekhomusi subspecies (e.g. the father is a dark elf and the mother is a manticore). The Fajekhomusi who have a changeling child would replace stolen babies and even adults or give them to couples that want to or can’t have children. In regards to the second option, there are many reasons why they give them away to childless couples such as unrequited love, lack of appropriate resources, and sudden conflicts. If one parent is human, they inherit the abilities and certain physical traits of their Fajekhomusi parent and the specific natural weaknesses of the other. If their parents are Fajekhomusi, they inherit certain abilities and physical characteristics from both of them. They often have ravenous appetites, display intelligence beyond human understanding, and uncanny insight.
Cambion (plural noun: cambions): They’re the offspring of infernal beings and humans, and are closely related to the Nephilim. The infernal beings view them as a powerful gift and a perfected form of their kind, whilst angels see them as another corruptive pest to deal with. Human females who give birth to cambions often die during childbirth due to their demonic powers. They often appear to be humanoid with sickly pale or ashen skin, serpentine tongues, canine teeth, and clawed fingernails and toenails. Like Nephilim, they inherit certain abilities from their infernal parents and are prone to specific human weaknesses and having their life energy be drained. Unlike the Nephilim, most possess a true manifestation and it’s extremely rare if they don’t. They’re incredibly heavy and are born with an absence of noticeable breath and/or pulse until they turn seven years old. They also possess a hunger that cannot be easily satisfied and most have mischievous, vile tendencies. Due to their devilishly cunningness and angelic beauty, they’re able to persuade even the most strong-hearted to do their bidding.
Dhampir (plural noun: dhampirs): They’re the offspring of vampires and humans who are often vampire hunters or the servants of high-ranking, noble vampires. The union between male vampires and female humans are more common, while female vampires mating with male humans is somewhat rare. They have the ability to see invisible vampires and practise various forms of magic that personally benefit them. They can create servants by afflicting lycanthropy on humans and using necromancy to bring back the dead. They possess the same abilities as their vampiric parent, but don’t have an insatiable quench for blood and aren’t weak to being staked in the heart. However, they can be burned by sunlight after a few hours and do need to occasionally drink blood in order to replenish their life energy. They lack a shadow and they often have untamed hair, a soft body, larger than normal teeth with two prominent fangs, pointed ears, clawed fingernails and toenails, and foggy or blind eyes.
Harpy (plural noun: harpies): They’re half-avian Æyldzritchons that consisted of many members being originally human. They preside over sudden, sharp gusts of wind and are sometimes responsible for causing mysterious disappearances and food shortages. Most are agents of punishment who abducted sinners to bring to the underworld and they prefer to reside in the Circle of Barbarity. Female harpies have the heads and hanging breasts of women, which is often the only part of their original human self. Their faces are pale with hunger and they either have the avian bodies of birds of prey such as owls and certain scavengers such as vultures. These characteristics are also applied to male harpies, but they have the heads of men and no hanging breasts. Both females and males are larger than all known animals of the mortal plane and are half the height of an average human.
Siren (plural noun: sirens): They’re all-female, humanoid Æyldzritchons who have alluring voices and lived on islands that were surrounded by cliffs, rocks, and the sea. Similar to harpies, they’re large birds with the heads of women that reflect their past life, feathers, bare breasts, massive wings, and scaly feet. Unlike harpies, their plumage is waterproof, they possess the tails of fish, and an exposed, slightly round belly. They have the ability to shapeshift into a human in order to easily lure men to their untimely destruction. They usually target sailors and lure them to their deaths in dangerous waters with their irresistible, beguiling song. As a result of this, the sailors forget about home and leap into the sea. They try to bring the drowned men they have killed back to their habitats in order to feast upon their fresh corpses.
Wendigo (plural noun: wendigos): They’re fearsome, cannibalistic Æyldzritchons who stalk and consume the flesh of humans. They’re capable of utilising their spiritual abilities to possess humans, forcing them to commit cannibalism. In order to possess humans, they have to physically bite them or enter into their dreams. Those who are more susceptible to being possessed by a wendigo are the greedy and gluttonous as well as people suffering from starvation. During spring, summer, and the first half of autumn, they appear to be human with a couple of distinct features. These distinct features are their sickly pale skin, their interconnectedness with carnivores, and misshapen teeth. They also reek of a horrible odour, one that is very reminiscent of rotting flesh. During the second half of autumn and all of winter, they appear to be emaciated with ashen skin and sunken, glowing eyes. They have two rows of yellowed, bone-crushing teeth and razor-sharp fingernails and toenails. They grow larger the more human flesh it consumes and their lips are either chewed or entirely missing as a result of their ravenous, insatiable hunger. They also have pointed ears and rough, matted reindeer hair on their backs. They preferably inhabit regions that have colder climates, especially areas that possess a lot of woodlands and lakes. All wendigos possess exceptional sharp eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell. They have phenomenal strength, agile speed, and stamina in order to stealthily stalk and overpower their victims. They can easily move through deep snow and across ice or open water without sinking. They’re nearly impossible to kill because it requires proper skill and knowledge on how to cut out their heart of ice, burn it in a fire, and destroy its spirit.
Lycanthrope or werewolf (plural noun: lycanthropes or werewolves): They were originally humans who are afflicted with lycanthropy and are now forced to shapeshift into a wolf during a full moon or high noon. Humans can transform into lycanthropes either through being bitten or scratched by one. They can only change back into their human form during the day or night. Their human forms possess a swinging stride and have bristles under the tongue, curved fingernails and toenails, and fur can be seen within their wounds. They often serve as the loyal companions and fighters of vampires and/or dhampirs. They’re fairly indistinguishable from ordinary wolves save for having no tail, being larger, and retaining human eyes and a partially animalistic voice. Their aggressiveness and animalistic urges are intensified and are quite difficult to control. They possess invulnerability to conventional injury due to immediate, organic healing, superhuman speed and strength, and falling on their feet from most high places. The only weakness of lycanthropes are enchanted silver objects doused in poison.
Zombie (plural noun: zombies): They’re the revitalised corporeal remains of deceased humans who have been brought back to life through necromancy. There are two types of zombies that are separated by their actions, intelligence, and appearances: pristine and decaying. Pristine zombies appear to be closer to humans and have their original intelligence intact. They’re capable of various actions, can react to their environment through senses and mental thought, possess a true consciousness, and all or most of their organs function properly. Decaying zombies are partially or mostly decayed with almost deteriorated brains. They’re capable of specific actions, can react to their environment through senses, and don’t possess a true consciousness. The heart, lungs, and a small part of the brain are the only functioning organs that a decaying zombie possesses. Both types rely on consuming human flesh and internal organs to replenish their life energy and slow down the process of decay. They’re both visual and auditory predators, identifying living creatures through sight and are attracted to loud noises.
