New Fic: “How Dick and Conner Became a Thing” Now Live

They were gone. Dawn, Hank, Donna, Rose, Kori, Rachel and Jason. They all left the Titans…well, the first four had. The latter trio needed to sort their own shit out, though Jason secretly told him why he was really leaving, believing Rose to be the mole leaking information to Slade.

Speaking of, Dick had just come back from a meeting with that bastard at Adeline's, and it hadn't gone at all like Dick had anticipated. He and the man were supposed to sit down and handle this like civil adults, but it left Dick dizzy and left a hole in his memory…and it wasn't supposed to be an overnight deal. He remembered conversing over drinks, though Dick thought he made the right decision by picking a glass of water over Scotch.

He supposed it was the wrong decision because he woke up in the guest room, clothes disheveled, sticky between the legs and not remembering how he got there. Slade came in and told him to pretty much "Fuck Off" before stating that Dick's punishment was to be alone for the rest of life. That if he didn't leave the Titans behind, Slade would come and kill every last one of them.

It didn't come off as intimidating as Slade had hoped, the man having thrown his clothes at him.

So, Dick did just that, having rushed back to the tower first thing in the morning, taking a shower and a Plan B, and packed his shit. His plane back to Detroit would be leaving tonight, but he wanted to be out of the Tower by Noon. He couldn't risk the team or their lives. They didn't deserve what Slade would bring down upon them because of his own fuck-ups.

Naturally, Gar was following him to and from, desperately pleading with Dick to stay, asking him what he was supposed to do about Krypto and the sleeping clone in the Infirmary.

So I was in the Slade Wilson tag on ao3 looking for good Tara fics... or at least some Tara fics. And I stg, guys, you can’t just mix and match canons willy nilly. Toon Slade characterization does NOT match up with the comics history that led up to the Renegade arc. Please. Please just read New Teen Titans, at the very least issue #26-#44. I know it’s not the BEST story line, Tara isn’t written particularly empathically but like-- if you can read between the lines a bit for your fave, you can give her a shot. And if you start to think about Slade in the context of being an abuser with a very specific pattern, see also Teen Titans 2003, arguably Batgirl 2008, Deathstroke 2016, etc, then I promise it’ll make your whumpy Dick fics better. Please. I can give specific issues and annotations. Slade in the comics is a really interesting and realistically written abuser.

Chapter Two of “Atone”: “Realization” Now Live

"What the fuck are we doing here, huh?" Crane asked, giving them both a dopey smile, clearly high, "Checking my new bitch out to make sure he's ready for me?"

Dick moved away from the hand reaching up to touch his face, going so far as to swat at it. Jason looked around, before turning to Crane, "The hell are you doing down here? I thought you and the boys were playing Billiards?"

"Well, if you must know Dad , we were until Pedro started losing and flipped the fuck out and flipped the table." Crane recalled with a chuckle, "And then we threw some bottles and called it a night. Jeeves is upstairs cleaning it up." Crane turned toward the screen, "So, what's wrong with Nightwhore? Got a parasite? Is that what's causing him to reenact The Exorcist?"

Jason scoffed and shook his head, hoping that Crane was too stoned and drunk too much to remember this tomorrow, "No, dumbass. He might be pregnant."

Crane laughed at that, "With what? A food baby? Seriously, if he died and then was revived, that baby is as good as dead. Besides, who the fuck would knock him up? He acted like he was better than everyone and had a stick up his ass. No way anyone laid with him."

They stood in silence as Jason shook his head at the man once more, calling him an asshole under his breath as he moved the device around until he found what he was looking for. It was small, but according to the computer, the little blob on the screen was still intact and considered living. Jason breathed a sigh of relief…but dread washed over him like ice cold water down his spine. Dick was pregnant and in Crane's clutches, and the sonuvabitch would certainly kill the Omega once he sobered up. Jason huffed, damning the parent for doing this to Dick.

"So, speaking of Baby Mama Drama." Crane cut through his thoughts, producing an iPad from his coat, "I think I know who his baby Daddy is."

I think that every Sladdick shipper should be forced to read the Judas Contract and every other comic/piece of media with Tara in it for as long as it takes for them to acknowledge women exist.

6, 9, 10, & 25?

6. Which ship fans are the most annoying? I feel like "Batcest" is too broad and I've got way too complicated feelings on Sladdick (it sucks but they're also really interesting to me in a way that's probably reflective of psychological issues). Jayroman shippers have been getting on my nerves lately, but... Okay, it's Timber. It's not the ~worst~ ship, it's more harmless, but that's part of why it's the most annoying.

9. Worst part of canon? Oh gd, there's so much. First thoughts are the rape apologia, and the orientalism towards any Asian female character/them all getting reduced to the same trope... Not to mention, the fridgings. Those three, I guess.

10. Worst part of fanon? Making antisemitic plotlines from canon so much worse by adding pedophillia.

25. Common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing? Like, a complaint about the source other people make that you disagree with? I guess whenever fanon only stans say shit like "if DC weren't cowards, then they'd do X" and then X is something that's happened multiple times or has a very good reason for not doing.
