hi I know about dear Evan Hansen so I’ll tell you about this.
The story is about a teenager killing himself and the kid he bullied (Evan Hansen) pretends he was the dead kid’s friend to make his family feel better. And also for attention a bit, also to get with dead kids sister.
the story is LITERALLY about someone pretending to be friends with a dead person after they died to get pity points.
for forever in particular is an INSANE pick from Scott. Like. this song is Evan Hansen singing about all the things he and dead kid did, and he’s lying about all of it. It seems like a pretty romantic song if you don’t know the context but it’s just Evan lying about what he and this dead kid did together
and then only us is a love song between Evan and dead kid’s sister. Who breaks up with him by the end of the musical after she learns he was lying. And they only got together because Evan lied about being friends with her dead brother
but yeah idk how Scott??? Interpreted dear Evan Hansen??? But. It was wrong
normal.

Chapter 14: the sleeping world
Shorter chapter than usual, but get ready to see the result of all that secret true time magic training!
“Jesus Christ, you’re with a WOMAN now?!” Both Augustus and Sekke look like their eyes are about to bulge out of their faces, gazes snapping back and forth from me and Adeline’s clasped hands and our faces. Augustus splutters incoherently before pointing his sceptre at me accusingly. “I knew it! I knew you were just using Julius for the power! And now that he’s gone-”
“Your majesty-” I cut him off before he can actually start to upset me. “There’s such a thing as bisexuals, you know.”
“JFDSKL WHAT ON EARTH-”
Adeline bites her lip to suppress her words, and gives my hand a squeeze. I glance up at her, noticing that she’s starting to get a little uncomfortable. It’s fair, given that her history with Augustus is less than pleasant. I smile and squeeze back before continuing to walk past Augustus as he has his tantrum. We’ve just arrived on top of a large overlook, in the same area where the Royal Knights exam took place months and months ago. I had some of the royal mages terraform it, creating a large lake, plain, and forest. But from up here, we can see it all perfectly. What is this all for, exactly?
In order to increase morale and get some intense training in, I decided to make the Captains fight each other in a crystal destruction tournament. Not the most original idea, I must admit, but it will do its job. These last few weeks have been absolutely insane. The Devil Banishers/Believers incident was a real hassle to get through, and ended up costing us more than we thought. But it’s all over now, and it’s time to get some real work done before we send our representatives over to the Heart Kingdom.
And for me
Today, I’ll see if my own intense training has paid off.
“Hey, where’s Fluffy?”
Yami crosses his arms before looking around. He and the other captains are already here, milling around awkwardly. I haven’t told them their teams yet, but everyone is already shooting each other dirty looks. “Huh, that’s weird, Rill didn’t tell me he was skipping.”
“Of course that brat skipped! At his age, he’d be skipping school, too, Keh Keh!” Jack cackles, licking his lips. “I was looking forward to slicing him up…”
“Well, what if he ended up on your team?” Charlotte points out.
“... did I stutter?”
“Please, save the fighting for the battlefield,” Nozel steps in before Charlotte can retort. “You’re going to need all the energy you have.”
Fuegoleon looks very eager to go, bouncing on the balls of his feet and flexing his fiery arm across his chest. I eye his movement suspiciously, getting distracted. “How come your shirt doesn’t catch on fire too?”
He shrugs, but gives me a grin. “Maybe today will be the day I burn so hot it does char my clothes.”
I clear my throat awkwardly before turning away to look at everyone. “Anyway- if Rill is a no-show then it’ll be 4 on 4. Now…” Admittedly, this changes my plans a little, but no matter. “Team one will be Yami, Jack, Nozel, and Kaiser.”
“WHAT? I have to be on a team with this stinkbug-” Yami immediately objects, but cuts himself off as I shoot him a glare. “Fine, whatever.” He catches Charlotte’s eye and suddenly grins. “Heh, looks like you’ll have to fight me, prickly-queen.”
“Good. I’ve been looking forward to teaching you a lesson.” Charlotte’s eyes only harden.
“Ooooh, why do I kind of like the sound of that?”
“Why-” Charlotte quickly turns pink. “You vulgar-”
“SO! Those are the teams!” I step in between them, smiling brightly despite the mounting tensions. “Marx just gave me the go-ahead for the broadcast, so I want you all to go down there-” I gesture out onto the plains. “-and await my signal!”
“Thank you.” Without another word, the eight of them split apart and jump down to their stations, gearing up for what promises to be a spectacular fight. I let out a sigh before turning to walk back to my chair, where Adeline, Augustus, and Sekke are waiting. William didn’t say a word… I don’t even remember him looking me in the eye while I was talking to the captains. Well, that’s just another thing I’ll have to do today.
“Hello?” A screen suddenly opens up next to me, and I see Marx’s face appear. “Are we ready to go?”
“Yep!” Before I sit down, I turn back to the arena. I raise my arm, two fingers pointing up, and set off a powerful blast of magic, a bolt that goes careening into the air with a loud whoosh. It’s the signal to go, and boy… do they GO!
The battle that commences is like nothing I’ve seen before. Each of them knows they’re being watched by the entire kingdom via Marx’s communication magic, so they hold nothing back. Fire, mercury, darkness, plants, and everything in between goes flying, each of them desperately reaching for the other’s crystal while keeping theirs just out of reach. Half of the fight moves into the forest, the trees warping and billowing as William builds his own path out of his magic. Nozel and Fuegoleon only have eyes for each other, Salamander burning so hot that the lake starts to evaporate and steam up underneath it and Fuegoleon.
Their magic heats the air, sends vibrations through the earth, and towers high into the sky.
For a moment, I can’t help but feel guilty.
All three of them… would have made wonderful Wizard Kings. They are men who put their duty first, men who wouldn’t get caught up in the cycle of grief and greed like I would.
They are human men… they could care for this Kingdom far better than I could.
A soft hand squeezes my shoulder. Somehow, Adeline always knows what I’m thinking.
But… at the end of the day… the responsibility falls to me. Maybe I’m running out of time, maybe I’m compromised emotionally, but I made a promise, to Julius, to Adeline, and myself.
I am the Wizard King… and today, I’ll show everyone why!
Right then, without warning, the entire earth rumbles. I reach up and grab Adeline’s hand with one of my own, the other grasping the arm of my chair. Augustus yowls with fear, and Sekke goes tumbling to the ground. “What on earth is that?!” Adeline gasps.
My eyes widen, and I quickly point out into the forest. “Look!” A giant slash of darkness appears, tearing through the trees. A chill shoots through the air, causing every hair on my arms to stand at end. Oh shit! That’s Yami’s Dimension Slash! A grin grows on my face as it dissipates as soon as it appeared, leaving nothing but an eerie silence in its wake.
“Um… are they okay?” Adeline asks, narrowing her eyes as she scans the area. “I can’t hear any more fighting?”
“Huh… did Yami kill everyone?”
Just as I ask the question, I spot a group of people emerge from the forest. A few minutes later, they’re back up on the platform, and drop the shards of their crystals at my feet. I arch a brow, glancing between their faces. “What happened, exactly?”
“It’s no fair!” Dorothy grumbles. “I had Yami trapped in Glamour World, but then he just cut his way out!”
“And he destroyed both crystals while he was at it.” Kaiser gives Yami the side eye.
“Hey! I think our team should win. I did destroy the enemy’s crystal, after all.” Yami looks terrible; he’s covered with bruises and his white shirt is stained with what looks like dirt. His hair is so out of place he looks like a different person.
“BUT! You destroyed your own as well,” Fuegoleon objects loudly. “That lack of care should lead to a loss for your team!”
I can’t help but laugh, drawing their attention back to me. “This sure is a weird circumstance that I didn’t see coming… but…” I smirk as I start to realize my plan. “Maybe we should do a tiebreaker instead?”
“What is she doing?” Augustus was watching from his chair, talking to no one in particular. He glanced over at Adeline for a moment, who started to look very worried.
What is she up to?
“A tiebreaker?” Yami almost laughs at the suggestion. “Do any of us look like we’re ready for a tiebreaker?!”
“For once, I agree with him,” Nozel adds. He doesn’t look as bad as Yami, but his trademark braid is barely holding together after the furious exchange he and Fuegoleon just traded. Fuegoleon’s clothes are crisped at the edges, soot and smoke clinging to every part of him. During this tournament, even his own flames scorched through whatever usually protected him.
“I know you’re all exhausted! At least, you look exhausted.” I smile cheerfully between all eight Captains. “But, like I said, ending this with a tie isn’t all that satisfying… but!” I hold up a finger, finally getting to the point. “You’ll like what I have in mind! It’s easy!”
“Oh yeah?” Despite how tired he looks, Yami manages to grin, his hand already moving to the handle of his katana. “Spit it out, then.”
I keep smiling, almost giggling at his eagerness, but when I speak, my words are deadly serious.
“All you have to do to win… is make me move from where I’m standing.”
The earth stands still for a moment as my words sink in. Yami’s lighthearted expression suddenly fades into worry. Out of everyone here, he’s the only one who knows I’m pregnant, I think, maintaining my smile. He’s probably a little hesitant about attacking me… but the others…
“So…” Fuegoleon frowns. “We just… hit you? Knock you down?”
“If you want!” I reply cheerfully. “I’m sure some of you are angry at me for one reason or another, so…” My gaze sweeps over and lands on William. His eyes widen just the tiniest bit, but for once he doesn’t look away.
“Take out your anger. Make me move, if you can.”
Each of them is tired, exhausted, beaten and bruised, but that gleam enters their eyes as I tell them to come at me. That gleam comes back into William’s eyes. Because, above all, these Captains are the best in this Kingdom… and they want nothing more than to prove themselves. For glory, and for death.
All at once, their Grimoires are out, their faces shining with determination. Spells are being cast, and eight bodies move towards me with as much speed as they can muster. A moment of frenetic fury, because the first of them to hit me will be crowned the victor.
If they can hit me. This is my time to prove myself.
With a deep breath, I close my eyes before any of them can reach me. As soon as darkness falls, I can feel it; mana pulsing from the earth, up through my legs, and out with each breath I release.
The laws of nature… Time is at the center of them all.
I open my eyes, and the spell activates. Mana words, glowing whitish-blue, burst to life around my head in a spectacular double halo. Mana courses through my body; a body that was made for the purpose of holding mana. The body that deems me as inhuman, that houses a broken, dying soul, yet gives me the power I want more than anything.
“True Time Magic… Domain of Thanatos.”
Each rune circling my body spells out the same word: Stop.
And that’s exactly what happens.
------
This ability is True Time Magic: Domain of Thanatos.
Thanatos… the god of peaceful, non violent death.
Julius’s Time Magic had the power to steal and give time as he wished, from any object that he could please. But he could not control TIME itself. Time as it exists in nature, a rushing river, always moving forward.
But even a river can freeze.
This magic gives me control over that river, over the speed that it flows. Although I cannot force it backwards… I can slow it down until it stops.
With this ability, I put the entire world to sleep.
With this ability… no one will ever stop me.
-------
The moment my spell activates, all eight of the captains freeze, and their attacks become suspended in midair. I let out a slow breath, allowing a smile to grow on my face. My hand stays frozen in the air for the time being, because I have to calculate every single move with the upmost precision.
See, the catch to stopping time is that it doesn’t last very long if I just start moving. Maybe two or three seconds at most. However, I managed to find a condition where I can stretch the length of time within Domain of Thanatos; I allow time to start to flow with my movements, so slow and smooth, but just fast enough that I can do what I want.
So… easy now…
One finger. Then the next. And another. Until I’m no longer reaching out; I’m pointing. My first target is Yami.
Sorry… this’ll only hurt for a second.
With each finger, he only twitches slightly, moving forward a mere millimeter.
Flame magic: Solar Bolt.
My attack shoots through him, as fast as outside of this spell.
And now… the others…
I move in a half circle, one by one, casting my bolt and watching them fail to react to being hit. It’s surreal, being here all alone in some weird little world. But I remind myself that this solitude is because I am in control.
Finally, William is hit, the last of my eight targets. I let out a shaky breath, my smile widening. So… now I just have to worry about their spells. Each of them have only moved a few inches, but are now getting dangerously close. With each Solar Bolt I fired, they clipped closer, sped up in time with my spell. I can feel my control weakening, and something that smells like blood is starting to bubble up in my nose. Despite that, I stay calm, letting Blazing Spear materialize in my hand.
And…
I take one last breath of air within Domain of Thanatos.
Release.
My arm swings through the air, bringing the spear along with it, and I slash through the spells, my trajectory carefully calculated due to the observations I made earlier. I have to duck once though, avoiding Yami and Dorothy’s spells. I look up just in time to see the eight of them stumble back and fall, stunned by the instant attack that came from seemingly nowhere.
“Look at that… I’m still standing.”
Yami groans and rolls back up into a sitting position, a curious glint in his tired eyes. “What the Hell was that?”
“I’m wondering the same thing.” Nozel winces, clutching the spot where my bolt hit him. “How fast did you just move?”
I let out a little laugh, a twinkle in my eye. “Actually, I moved very slow… I made everything move very slow.”
Most of them have sat up by now, all of them still shocked and disoriented, but now they’re looking at me in a new way. The look in their eyes is familiar; it’s the same way they all used to look at Julius in battle. The shock, the awe… the admiration.
Are they really looking at me?
In that moment, my pride deflates. Despite the fact that now, maybe, they can see me as more than just Julius’s replacement, I feel so… humbled. These eight amazing people accept me.
Even William, the one I manipulated and betrayed, sits there with a smile on his face. An easy, happy smile that I remember from our days together long ago.
Finally, I clear my throat.
“That… that was true time magic.” I take a step towards them as I explain. “I developed it by applying the Heart Kingdom’s methods to my Time magic. There’s still a lot to explore, but one thing is certain.”
I come to a stop in front of William, then hold out my hand.
Please William… forgive me.
“We can all get stronger… think carefully about who you send to the Heart Kingdom.”
William’s smile fades, but the expression on his face is one of understanding.
Of course I forgive you. You’re my friend.
“This magic is our hope.”
He takes my hand, and I pull him to his feet.

Digital Thoughts - Threads of Fate - PS1
Rue’s story centers around his desire for revenge after witnessing firsthand the murder of his love.
Mint’s story is focused on world domination. Both intertwine at certain parts of the game but for the most part have a unique plot.
Each side is well written and paced. Along the way you will encounter memorable characters, enemies and villains.
Large beautiful character models and detailed colorful locales fill Threads of Fate to the brim. I hesitate the use the word “jumbo” but it’s how the characters are designed - Huge heads, feet and hands. The world building fits that perfectly.
Mysterious caves, seaside lakes, ghost filled labyrinths and lava spewing mountains are just a few examples you will encounter within. I quite liked the visual style and still think it holds up even to this day.
Threads of Fate is an action game to its core. With Rue, you can smash things with your Axe or transform into many different creatures to put the hurt on your foes. Mint can learn a myriad of spells which level up after constant use and I found her abilities to be much more useful than Rue’s.
Most stages are linear and allow you to hack n slash your way through with the occasional jump puzzle here and there. As you are attacked, your HP increases and as you attack the enemies, your ability points increase in tandem. The Hub Town allows you to purchase weapon and armor upgrades as well as learn about the current gossip and quests.
Threads music is both catchy, synth-y and well composed. Many themes are wonderful: “Bonds with Clair” is warm, yet somber. It evokes the feeling of being wrapped up in a blanket on a cold winter evening, cup of cider in hand. “Forest of Departure” is a fantastic theme that simply “sounds” like it belongs in the forest – one of my favorites. “Rocky Mountain Sky Garden” has a stomping beat that urges one forward. “Fancy Mel” is quite good, though I began to tire of it during this section of the game due to the tough platforming. “Doll Master” is a haunting theme that fits quite well for the villain of the game. “Last Dungeon” is quite good too. “Finale – Rue” reminded me of Chrono Cross music for some reason. Another great theme. “Rod – Impetuous Soul” is another favorite piece with a sweet flamenco and rumbling base line. “Mint’s Schemes” is a playful and wacky theme that reminds me of all the goofy situations she got into.
After the main story is finished, the option for New Game + is available. Using your powered up equipment and weapons to relive the comedic story is always exciting but sadly little else remains new after completing the story.
Threads of Fate is a charming, beautiful, memorable, humorous gem of a game and more people need to play it. It’s short, sweet and fun to play. If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted RPG, look no further.

Todomomo Fairy AU Part 3 ~
READ PART 1 HERE
READ PART 2 HERE
just to clarify, in this AU, people know that fairies exist and so do witches, warlocks and what have you. It’s just extremely rare to meet a fairy and their realms don’t intertwine in any way (or more like the fairies and the humans don’t want trouble so they try to stay away from each other as much as possible; however, there are curious ones who want to know more about each other’s lives). I also mentioned fuyumi and tensei which is from blamedorange, and thanks to gingersducksandbubbles for the horse names HAHA
warning: its another longgggg one! Again, this is somewhat between a fanfic and a hc. This one is more lighthearted…..I think?
-on the way back to the castle, Todo’s allies had already secured the main fronts of the battle. Endeavor’s strongest fighters were defeated by Mido and Iida (those two also followed Todo’s orders and restraint Endeavor in his weak state), though Kaminari was the real MVP, clearing off most of the area on his own with his electricity magic (Kaminari was a noble from the royal branch family of the Kingdom of Clouds, and he himself brought in his best strategist and right hand, Jirou Kyouka, amongst his most reliable warriors).
-Todo enters the dungeons as fast as he could and notices that the guards had fled; when Todo’s mother, Miyuki (her name means beautiful snow), sees him, her eyes opened wide , then immediately crinkle as she gives him a soft smile. Todo sees her mother curling at the far corner of the prison, like a lost animal too afraid to show themselves, and for the thousandth time, he wonders if he will ever know exactly how much pain his mother had to go through because of his father. “When I heard the guards talking….I knew it was your doing, Shouto” she says, with a hand to her heart. She knew since long ago that her son would grow up to be a brave, noble young man and she wasn’t wrong. Todoroki takes a deep breath, the sunlight through the tiny slit on the moss-covered bricks reflect on his cyan eye and he quickly slashes the chain-and-lock with his sword.
-”How about Fuyumi? Where is she?” his mother asks urgently when he guides her out and Todo tells her that he had sent his sister to the Cloud Kingdom to take refuge a day ago before the coup had set. His father did not suspect a thing as Fuyumi would occasionally do charity work or volunteer in other parts of the world as a representative of their Kingdom (Fuyumi actually helped the reputation of the Kingdom of Fire by doing so and so Endeavor encouraged it). His mother is relieved but the tug on her dry, chalky lips and rickety gait shows Todoroki just how feeble she is. She looks malnourished and if there is one thing he must do, it is to lead his mother back to the castle and give her the care that his father owes her.
-Days passed. Todo’s friends went back to their respective Kingdom and those who were from the same Kingdom was ready to serve Todo as the new King. In reality, Todo isn’t ready to be King and his mother had to step down as Queen because of her health (the citizens had honestly only seen her twice anyway so she isn’t prepared to be the face of the Kingdom). Todo had always believed that the heir to the throne should be Fuyumi so after consulting his mother, he confronts his sister.
-”But father had always wanted you to –” “Sis, this is what both mom and I want. And our father is a prisoner now, I could care less about what he thinks. You will be the best ruler the Kingdom has ever had and you’ll have mom and I with you every step of the way.” Fuyumi accepts it with teary eyes and open arms in the end.
-Endeavor is locked up far away from the Kingdom in an old abandoned tower and Todoroki begrudgingly accompanies his mother to see him the day before Fuyumi’s coronation. His mother wanted a private talk with Endeavor and so Todoroki waits outside. Right before he steps out though, Todo makes sure to spit out a warning, “If you dare lay a finger on my mother, I’d –” “That’s enough Shouto,” his mother looks at him pointedly, “don’t worry, I’m going to be fine.”
-Todo stands by his sister’s side the day of her coronation. There are those who protest having a woman as the sole ruler of the Kingdom of Fire (Fuyumi’s the first female head of the Kingdom), but overall everything is under control by the knights and the guards. His mother is the happiest of all but she can tell that something’s on Todoroki’s mind.
-The after-party is a blur; he makes small talk with friends and thanks them yet again for their services. Todo also dances with a few noblewoman and ladies-in-waiting as per his mother’s request but hesitantly so. Fuyumi is teased by their mother on the issue of ‘finding a lifelong partner’ and blushes when Iida’s brother, Tensei, stands guard at the side of the ballroom, exchanging glimpses of each other as if no one knew their secret.
-The party ends at midnight. People’s chitchat dwindles away like the aroma of the pine-scented incense in the middle of the room. Todo’s mother finally asks him what’s wrong and that’s when he tells her he knew about how she isn’t human but a fairy, related to the Fairy Queen nonetheless. His mother sighs, knew that this day would come, and recalls the time when she had to hide her wings and identity when Endeavor first held power. She tells Todo how she had only shown her face in public twice, three times including tonight, and even though their marriage was perfectly schemed so that the truth would be concealed, still some knew her secret. Her wings slowly disappeared as she no longer possessed the same amount of fairy magic from living in the human world for decades. Endeavor had sent those who knew her secret to their deaths through immediate execution. He knew that the citizens would go crazy if they found out that the Queen wasn’t human. Endeavor had given excuses that Todo’s mother had a persistent illness, almost as if she was terminally ill, to fend off those who meddle too much into political affairs.
-”when did my son become so interested in fairies?” “the truth is…I befriended one and she helped me a lot with the battle against father, she believed I could do it and I did. I really wouldn’t have been able to do it without her.” “And where is she, Shouto? I’d like to meet her myself.”
-Todo doesn’t answer, eyes distant as if searching for an answer among the stars. The way he stayed silent made his mother queasy.
-By now its been months. Momo’s sitting at her favourite spot in the fairy gardens wondering why he still hasn’t come. She visits the palace to see the Queen and asks if she should open the portal for her to enter the human world since she hasn’t fully recovered yet and thus has limited power to open the gates herself. The Queen orders her to stay and recover first and Momo obeys, frowning.
- With the string of events, one after the other, things had gotten so hectic for Todoroki that he found no time to get back to the fairy realm. He feels a little apprehensive; what if Yaoyorozu still hasn’t recovered? Guilt eats him from the inside but his mom tells him to do what he must and everything will be fine.
-Todo’s mom figures that there should be enough fairy magic left in him to open the portal one more time and so after Fuyumi had finally settled in her throne and was used to her duties, Todo decides that the chance to see Momo again is now. Todo suggests to bring his mother to the fairy world but she refuses incessantly, claiming that she had no right to enter anymore. Todo attempts to convince his mother, telling her that her sister, the Fairy Queen, misses her more than anything but to no avail.
-Todo wanted to open the portal in his own room before his mother chuckled lightedheartedly at the idea. “The gates to the fairy realm isn’t like a door. Your room will look like a hurricane had hit it if you really opened it there.” Todo thinks; his mother’s right, the portal is like a void, sucking in gusts of air whenever it shows itself. He promptly changes his mind.
-Todo takes off on his onyx horse, Frostbite, and stops at the once-flourishing field where they used to take afternoon naps and chants the magic words that he couldn’t seem to forget. In the back of his mind, he thinks of Momo’s beaming expression and her voice which still jolts him. His scar ignites again. The portal appears like ripples on an autumn lake, opens, and he advances, consumed by the light on the other side with his royal blue robe thrashing on his back and heart thumping hard against his rib cage.
-The circumstances from last time masked the true beauty of the fairy realm and as if it was his first time, Todo runs a finger softly along the sides of a well covered in wispy vines of a morning glory and eyes the nature before him. Everything was pristine. Plants were ubiquitously sprouting, and he strides further. Todoroki is definitely not at the palace like before; he isn’t sure where he really is. He feels the waxy peach-coloured petals of a hydrangea plant and flinches. “Who’s there?” an urgent voice calls somewhere from his right and Todoroki swallows.
-With a dainty hand, Momo holds the hem of her aquamarine dress and with the other, she drags the stiff branches away from a hedge, and steps out.
-They meet, gazes situated on each other as if they were admiring a statue from the ancient times.
-Her jaws slack slightly , the shadows cast on her face hides her expression and Todoroki extends a hand towards her, upturned, as if to ask her to hold onto him.
-Momo flies over, lips quivering but doesn’t close the distance; she stops a feet away from him and reaches for his hand and pauses right before her fingertips touched his. It may be the time that had settled between us, she questions herself and drops her arm. With inquisitive eyes, she studies him once more and Todoroki purses his lips, glad that she hasn’t changed one bit; her bold, ebony hair flying over her graceful wings, a familiar blithe emanating around her.
-But it bothers him that she won’t hold his hand.
-”Are you mad at me, Yaoyorozu?” He asks and her nose tinge slightly red and her cheeks colour a bit as well. “No, of course not-”
-He moves closer, too intimately in her opinion, and clutches her hand that was clenching tight onto the shimmering chiffon skirt of the dress, stopping her short of her sentence. The fabric spills down when she was forced to let go, and her emotions falls with it, like tearing apart the invisible cage that prisoned her heart. Without a moment’s hesitation, she buries herself onto the nape of his neck, tightening her fingers on his shoulders.
-”Sorry for the wait,” he says and puts a hand on her back to ease her hiccups, feeling her tears damp on his neck. She shakes her head and the pleasant lavender-like scent of her hair disperse and covers his senses.
- Still mind-boggled with his sudden arrival, Momo picks up his hand and leads him deeper through the thicket under the glimmer of the sun. They arrive at a secluded lake covered by whispering willow trees. Momo tells him that a human must not be found here by the other fairies except for her friends and so they must only stay within the forest which apparently, Todoroki finds out, was also one of the lands owned by her clan. They sit down and he marvels at the scenery; the water is greenish blue and he can see the bottom of the lake so clearly it was as though a piece of glass had laid on top of the rocks and sand.
- Momo plays with her fingers a little and gestures for Todoroki to sit beside her. Todoroki watches as she pulls up her dress a little to keep it out of the water’s reach and he leans his back to the tree trunk behind him, and rolls the hem of his pants and pulls off his boots. The water feels cold, but not freezing.
-”Yaoyorozu-” “Call me Momo, its how they call me here.” “Well then…Momo,” he focuses on the twinkle in her eyes as he calls her given name, “promise me you’ll never take a hit for me again.” “And you promise me to never sacrifice your life for me, ever.” She retorts. “I can’t promise you that Momo.” “If you had died, then who would save your mother?” Momo asks, swinging her legs in the water, and her question hits a nerve. Todoroki doesn’t say anything until the girl beside him lets out a cheerful whimper.
-“I forgot to say congratulations, Prince….or shall I say King?” “My sister is going to be the ruler, as per both my mother and my wish, so I’m still just a Prince” “But there may be a day when you need to prop yourself onto the throne” “Maybe.”
-Momo enjoys the silence after and she sees Todoroki dripping his arm into the water to play with the fish. A frog swims over. It looks awfully big and is uncharacteristically neon. It croaks and hops onto a rock beside Momo and suddenly begins talking. Todo jumps a little at the talking animal and Momo almost flips over from laughter. “This is Tsuyu-chan, don’t worry, she’s a close friend of mine, she won’t tell anyone that you’re here.” The frog croaks again and miraculously, sparkles scatter out of thin air, surrounding it. In a split second, the amphibian turns into a girl with giant oval eyes, wearing a white pokka-dotted sundress and sleek hair tied into a bow, sitting prettily on the back of her head.
-Tsuyu asks, jabbing a thin webbed finger at Todoroki, whether he’s the one Momo keeps talking to her about and Momo immediately jumps to cover her mouth. “Tsuyu-chan!! Gees!!”
-Todoroki seems indifferent at Momo’s flustered state and simply says “that’s ok, I talk about you a lot to my mom too.”
-Momo dies a little inside hearing that but tries so hard to keep her cool. Todoroki thinks it’s adorable.
-Next thing he knew, Momo pulls him up (not entirely, it really was more like Momo desperately yanking him with one arm). She waves bye to Tsuyu (him scrambling to place his feet back into his boots and since Momo is bare feet all the time so she doesn’t care) and mutters something about ‘Frostbite’ but Todoroki doesn’t quite catch it. She’s in front of him, dragging him along, and halts.
- Before them stood a pure white pegasus.
-”Shhh….” Momo puts a finger pressed against her lips as if one false move would scare the creature away. Todoroki’s amused. “What a beautiful winged creature,” Momo starts, “It just appeared one day last week and it seems to enjoy it here. Doesn’t it look just like Frostbite?” Todoroki crosses his arms, “And to think, you were scared of my horse, now you want one for yourself?” Momo looks sheepishly to the side, “No! To be exact, I’m not scared of befriending them, I was just scared of riding Frostbite….your horse seems…extremely energetic.”
-Momo takes a careful step forward and the pegasus swivels his neck to face her. She relaxes and the elegant creature treads over to sniff her fingers which she happily offered. The pegasus neighs once, and then twice, and slumps down its wings.
-”I think it likes you, Momo.” Todoroki says with a crooked smile, and the girl begins to comb and ruffle the pegasus’ immaculate snowy mane with one hand while patting his nose with another.
-”What are you going to name it?” Todoroki asks, fixing a loose collar. He spews out a few names out of the blue and Momo chuckles with a glint in her eyes. “I think maybe something that could rival Frostbite. Perhaps Abyss? No…NO ACTUALLY, IT’S GOING TO BE CLIPCLOP.”
-Todoroki doesn’t know whether to nod in approval or tilt his head in question. The girl literally went from ‘Abyss’ to ‘Clipclop’ within a split second. “Uh…sounds good?” He ends up saying and she’s so delighted that all she could do was hug Clipclop in front of her.
-The sun sets in what feels like minutes after, and Momo proposes for Todoroki to stay at her house for the next few nights. She guides him to the trail they had just taken after waving goodbye to Clipclop who flies away with strong beats of his wings. Momo urges Todoroki to start running as she levitates when the horizon begins to change colour. The sky goes from blood red to a violet purple and he ponders how nice it’d be if he could physically capture the moment before him, totally oblivious to Momo’s nervous panting. His thoughts are severed when he feels a tickle on his calves and when he shifts his gaze downwards, he sees moving branches.
-”I shouldn’t have lead you in so far off within this forest,” Momo grunts, regret written all over her face, “Its not safe, even for someone who has dealt with this countless times. When the sun sets, the plants begin to have a life of its own, and sometimes lose control. I should’ve…not been so distracted by Clipclop.”
-Todoroki gulps as they advance, his feet trips on a tight and unrelenting vine and it crawls up his leg. With a cry of frustration, Todoroki releases his dagger from the inside of his robe and swings at it, chopping it in half by the second attempt. Momo analyzes the situation in a heartbeat and decides that the best way for them to both make it out was for her to take flight while having him hold onto her. The boy is reluctant but wraps his arm around her neck and she grabs tight under his arms. Her wings flutter rapidly but they couldn’t even get an inch off the ground. Todoroki releases his grip.
-”You may be too heavy.” Momo scrunches her brows. “this isn’t going to work. We should–”
-An unsuspecting vine heads straight for Momo’s arm and she pushes herself higher into the air to dodge but the vine extends even faster. What they didn’t foresee, however, was Momo’s good friend to jump into the fray.
-”Momo, are you alright?” Tokoyami seeth, donning a black cape that could easily mask him into the shadows. He is t,currently the guardian of the night. He whips his bird-esque shadow at the moving vines, bisecting them with ease. He doesn’t seem to care for Todoroki but gives him a polite nod anyway.
-Tokoyami helps lead them out and when Momo sees the outskirts of the forest again, she thanks him profusely. Todoroki gives the guardian of the night a firm handshake and introduces himself.
-”I already know who you are.” Tokoyami closes his eyes and rubs his beak gently. “Momo talks about you a lot.”
-The girl is for once grateful for the darkness that is hiding her embarrassed, nervous grin. 0-2 for Momo. She sighs.
-Right before Tokoyami leaves, he turns to offer the girl a face of concern. “Momo, about–” The girl doesn’t let him finish. “Tokoyami, I know that having a human here is strictly outlawed, just–” The bird-man shakes his feathery head, and Todoroki catches a glimpse of Tokoyami’s obvious look of disapproval. “Tsuyu told me that you headed over to find the pegasus earlier. You know how the rule is.” Todoroki has never seen Momo so uncomfortable until now; she pivoted her heels a few times playfully and interlocks her hands behind her as if she had something to hide.
-”I know, I have to ask Bakugou first before I make friends with Clipclop.” Momo says. Tokoyami seems like he just cocked an eyebrow, but Todoroki wasn’t sure. “Clipclop?” The bird-man asks but quickly decides to change his mind about it. “You’ve already named it I see. Well, you know Bakugou is the paladin of the beasts for a reason.” Momo does a disheartened sigh and watches Tokoyami leave, arms still clasped behind her.
-”Momo, shall we find this…this Bakugou then?” Todoroki asks, sensing the mood drop as Momo swivels around. He knows how much Momo loves that pegasus. The girl groans. “No, its fine. I’ll…find him tomorrow.”
-Todoroki strides beside her floating form and could practically see her thoughts whirling in her head. “Do you not like this paladin?” He asks out of curiosity and she shakes her head. “How is he like? Does he have a head like an animal, like Tokoyami? I assume so since he’s the ‘paladin of the beasts’” Todoroki emphasizes his last words, “Does this Bakugou person have a head like a lion? Maybe?”
-Momo scoffs in laughter and grins ear-to-ear, “For a prince, you’re quite silly!” Todoroki’s just happy that she finds his joke so amusing, but muses at the possibility of it coming true. Momo continues, “Tomorrow, you’ll meet him. And you might just not like him.”

Prompt where they fight or smthng and phil leaves for a walk and comes back to dan playing his song on the piano?
very cute, i really like this one
xx
EDIT: I realised just as i started writing this that you specified ‘his [phil’s] song’ - so i am now assuming you’re talking about the song dan wrote for him in Birthday Sex? Sorry if that isn’t what you meant haha, but i dont know of a song irl that dan would play for phil that could be classed as ‘his song’ (thought im sure there are several)
hope this is all ok! and thank you
Prompts are temporarily closed for the time being! Thank you all for your submissions, I’ll be posting the ones I have in my inbox asap!
“I just don’t think it’s very fair of you to blindside me with all the shitty stuff from our past without some kind of warning!” Dan protests, throwing his flat keys down on to the dining room table. He shrugs his coat off, irritated, and throws it onto a nearby chair. “In front of all our friends!”
“Oh, so I’m just supposed to shove all that stuff to one side and never think about it again?” Phil asks, sounding incredulous. Dan rolls his eyes at the theatrical way Phil is behaving. “I’m never allowed to bring it up, or speak about it, or think about it in case it makes you feel guilty and miserable for a split second, is that right?”
“Obviously that’s not what I’m saying, Phil.” Dan says icily, crossing his arms. “You don’t have to be so... so...”
“So what?” Phil prompts, one hand curled around his own set of keys, still.
Dan just glares, lips pressed into a thin slash across his chin. He’s not going to finish that sentence. It won’t do either of them any good; besides, they’ve both had a couple of glasses of wine.
They’ve been out for a meal at a posh sushi place for Hazel’s birthday. It’s a place they know well, a menu they’ve ordered from frequently, and friends that they both enjoy being around.
Dan has no idea why, on this occasion, things turned sour. Out of all the many ways Phil could have answered Louise’s innocent, funny question of ‘what’s the worst pick-up line you’ve tried on someone?’, he had to say ‘well, that’s a difficult one because for the last eight years I've been desperately in love with someone who made it extremely clear they didn’t want me back until very recently. So, I haven’t tried out an actual pick up line in forever.’
His answer had stunned the table into an awkward hush. Dan had been so taken aback by the nonchalant way in which Phil casually dropped this information into the lighthearted conversation - with people who know absolutely nothing about it, save for Louise - that he’d actually choked on an edamame bean.
They all knew, of course, that Phil was talking about Dan. They must have.
Suddenly, remembering the stunted, jolty attempts people were forced to make to kickstart the conversation again, to move it into safer territory, Dan doesn’t feel quite so generous.
He decides to finish his sentence, after all.
“You don’t have to be so childish about this whole thing.” Dan says before he can think it through properly. “It’s over now. We’re married, we’re together, you have me. Why are you insisting on picking at the scabs? And without even so much as a hint to me beforehand that it’s on your mind at all!”
“Childish?” Phil repeats, his voice soft and hurt.
Dan’s heart sinks, and he regrets the choice of adjective immediately. “No, well, no-”
But it’s too late to take it back. The word hangs in the air, taunting them both.
Dan scrambles to think of a way to repair the situation, but he’s not fast enough. Phil, still wearing his coat, turns back the way he came, keys still clasped in his fist, and walks out of the door.
Fuck.
---
Phil has no idea where he’s going. He hadn’t really thought further ahead than getting out of the flat before the argument turned even nastier.
That’s the problem with arguing with Dan; he’s a hothead. He can’t seem to catch the words in his mind long enough to think them through, he just spits them out, harsh and unfiltered, then regrets it.
The wind whips against him, and Phil draws the lapels of his coat around himself a little tighter. He’d been so looking forward to getting back home after the dinner tonight. They’d left the heating on, and Phil had been feeling pleasantly tipsy all evening until it got awkward. He’d been thinking about how, later, he could drag a wine-sweetened Dan underneath the covers, kiss him in all the places that made him squirm until neither of them felt the cold anymore.
He sighs, taking a random turning into a side street he’s never walked down before. He wonders if he should put his hood up or something, as the worst thing would be getting recognised right now. It’s unlikely to happen, though, in the dark.
Childish.
That was the word Dan had used to describe him. It echoes through the wide, hollow rooms of Phil’s usually thriving brain, echoing off the cold, stone walls.
Is that truly how Dan perceives him? Immature and thoughtless? Attention-seeking, maybe? Or sulking, to get his way?
A shiver runs through his body, and his teeth begin to chatter. He steps through the milky, pale yellow splash of light from an overhead streetlamp, glad of the fleeting absence of darkness.
He hadn’t meant to say what he did, when he answered Louise. He didn’t think. It’s not like him to say things without thinking, either - but he supposes being around Dan so much must mean he picks up on some of his habits, both good and bad.
Just now, Dan had said that Phil had blindsided him with the answer. That he’d failed to let Dan know that it was playing on his mind, and that if he’d pulled Dan aside, maybe tried to talk it through a little, things would have been okay.
But Dan doesn’t understand. The ‘Birthday Sex Era’, as Phil now thinks of it, isn’t something that fleetingly pops into his head now and again. He’s thinking of it always. There’s never a moment that it’s not there, stubborn and loud, a great sea-monster lurking in the ocean of Phil’s love for Dan, its tentacles protruding into every single memory they have as a pair.
Phil isn’t able to just carve the Birthday Sex monster away. It’s too entwined in what they are, in what they were. It’s part of him, and it’s part of Dan, and it’s a part of both of them, together.
So, when the delicious Californian white wine is flowing, and Phil is comfortable and relaxed around his favourite, trusted friends, it’s only natural that he’ll answer something asked of him with total honesty. It just so happens that the honest answer he gave tonight was one that the Birthday Sex monster has wrapped itself around. Phil couldn’t help but tell Louise the truth. And the truth had been that Phil, for a long time, was simply not interested in ‘picking up’ anyone but Dan, and that Dan had - somewhat cruelly - encouraged this.
Two shadowy figures turn into the street, starting to walk towards him. Phil is wearing his contacts, but he still can’t really make them out. Not wanting to linger too long in a deserted, back street with two unfamiliar strangers late at night, Phil turns, walking briskly back the way he came.
It’s freezing tonight, anyway. Phil’s had a little walk to gather his thoughts.
It’s time to go home.
---
Phil tries to unlock the door quietly, half hoping the inevitable confrontation can be postponed a little longer, until he’s shucked off his coat and shoes, at least.
He manages to stay quiet as he lets himself in, and takes his time about removing his outer garments. He runs a hand through his hair, shuddering as his body soaks up the warmth of the flat, and sighs.
Belatedly, he realises he can hear a soft, enchanting melody, seeping through the floorboards of the upstairs hallway. Intrigued, as ever, by Dan’s decision to play the piano, Phil follows the haunting tune.
Strangely, as he pads up the stairs, Phil realises that he’s humming along. He pauses in his step, head cocked to listen harder when he deduces that he actually knows this particular song.
He shuts his eyes, still humming as he tries in vain to place it. Is it a video game theme song, he wonders? Dan is very fond of learning every score of the Final Fantasy soundtrack. But somehow Phil knows it isn’t that, this time.
His brain aches in protest, complaining that it’s too befuddled with alcohol and post-argument tension to work out what the song is.
Phil rolls his eyes at his own mind, then continues up the stairs, deciding he’ll just have to remember to ask Dan once they’ve resolved this little tiff.
It’s as Phil approaches their bedroom, that it dawns on him. The realisation tumbles over him in a gush, and he sucks in a breath, stopping in his tracks. He stands in the doorway, not daring to move in case he interrupts.
Watching Dan play is a performance in itself, regardless of the music he produces. His back is straight, just as his evil teacher drilled into him that it must be all that time ago. His fingers dance, light as petals skimming the surface of a lake, over the keys.
Dan hasn’t noticed Phil’s arrival, he’s sure.
The tune begins soft, then sweeps into a whirlwind of complexity, soaring into something so swooping, so magnificent, so deep and vibrant and pure that it sends Phil’s stomach crashing to the floor.
After a while, it peters out, trilling gently, teasing the growing quiet with more until it stops entirely.
Dan hunches forwards, his forehead pressing against the stand as his fingers curl into fists.
“I haven’t heard you play that in a while,” Phil says, trying to keep his voice soft so he won’t startle Dan, but the younger man jumps anyway, spinning to face him.
There are obvious, shiny tear-tracks over his cheeks.
“Phil,” he breathes, clearly amazed, “you’re- you’re back.”
Phil shrugs, shuffling into the room a little. “Where else would I go?”
Dan is silent for a minute, his top teeth trapping his lower lip like he’s trying to button his mouth closed. It doesn’t work. The words burst out anyway, tumbling from his lips in a messy, unprocessed garble.
“I’msosorry-”Dan starts, eyes desperate. “I just- like, I don’t even know why I would say that- I don’t- obviously I don’t think you’re childish, but youknowwhatI’mlike-”
“Dan.” Phil interrupts, gently.
“And especially after drinking- like, I knew I should’ve said no to that second glass, but-”
“Dan, stop,” Phil urges, moving towards him.
Sitting down on the piano stool, scooted up against Dan’s side seems to startle him into silence, so Phil takes the opportunity to speak.
“I’m not really sure who’s right or wrong here.” He confesses, shrugging one shoulder.
Dan rolls his eyes. “Come on, Phil, there’s no need to become a martyr just because I’m getting a bit weepy-”
Phil smiles, brushing a thumb under each of Dan’s eyes, rubbing away the moisture collected there. “I’m not being a martyr.” Phil turns to face him as much as possible on the stool, trying to get the words straight in his head. “I just think that this - our situation - is a peculiar one. I don’t quite know how to handle it best, y’know?”
Dan nods, chewing his lip again.
“I don’t want you to feel like you have to be constantly on edge in case I spring a guilt trip on you from nowhere,” Phil says, completely honest about this. “But I also don’t really know how to deal with all the leftover... stuff still inside me from that time. The Birthday Sex time.”
“What kind of ‘stuff’?” Dan asks cautiously, sounding like he doesn’t really want to know the answer. Honestly, Phil is pretty sure Dan won’t like the answer either.
Phil swallows. “Hurt. Anger. Heartbreak. Insecurity. Anxiety.” Phil swallows again. “You know. Stuff.”
Dan takes a deep breath, but nods again, seeming to understand. “So... you’re saying that ‘stuff’ might sort of... leak out at random, inconvenient times?”
Phil quirks a smile at him. “I’m going to try really, really hard not to let that happen. I don’t want to hurt you, or cause arguments. And you’re right, y’know? What you said earlier - it’s over. I have you now.”
His hand travels absent-mindedly to Dan’s hip, ducking beneath the jumper he’s wearing until his fingers skim the tattoo he knows is inked there.
Dan shakes his head. “I was a prat earlier. Please don’t take any of what I said to heart.”
Phil chuckles at him, and Dan gives him a serious look.
“No, seriously Phil.” He says, making Phil chuckle more. “If anyone’s a fucking child around here it’s me. I’m the one who threw a god damn bitch fit at you for bringing up your own perfectly valid feelings of betrayal. I mean, what right do I have to yell at you for that when it’s all my fault you ever felt that awful to begin wi-”
Phil kisses him to shut him up, mostly, but also because he’s tipsy and sad and bullying himself for things he’s apologised for so many times. Sometimes, the best way to draw Dan out of his own abusive head is to remind him how much he is loved, despite whatever he may think of himself.
When Phil draws away, there’s a surprised, sweet expression on Dan’s pretty face. Phil smiles at the sight of it, curling his hand into Dan’s jumper.
“Your playing was so lovely,” Phil tells him wistfully.
Dan ducks his head, smiling bashfully. “Thanks. I think that’s the only thing I can play without any mistakes.”
“Will you play it again?” Phil asks, resting his head on Dan’s shoulder.
Dan pretends to look exasperated, rolling his eyes. “You’re requesting your own song for the second time?”
Phil nods, beaming, and Dan shakes his head fondly, but kisses him nonetheless. He places his hands over the keys, and Phil lights up, settling down to listen, his eyes fluttering closed.
“As if I could ever say no.” Dan murmurs, then starts to play.
