We have had a couple of film #projectors come in lately, now it’s time for a slide projector! This is the Hanimex La Ronde 500 TAF carousel slide projector, probably from the late 60s or early 70s. Founded in 1947 Hanimex was an Australian-based enterprise that initially was an importer of photographic products, but import restrictions led them to begin manufacturing locally and by the early 70s they were the second-largest manufacturer of slide projectors in the world. We often had set it up in their small living room and threw the images on the white door of their bedroom. My brother and I would sit on the floor and my grandmother would tell the story from memory or some images had text under them. I loved these evenings." My 12th-day Best. A double dose of Best. My dear friend came to play with me today & to have a sleepover!!Omigosh...did I EVER need her...need the Muse in her to inspire me & there wasn’t a moment that we weren’t talking! We played with paper! How completely delicious this was for me & so needed. That friend. That wonderful kind of friend. She’s the best thing I can do for myself. Now for the flip side of my 12th-day best. I have, like, thousands of slides. My daddy’s picturesque nature slides, our travel slides, my extended family slides & our family & vacation slides. Thousands of them. With no way to view them EXCEPT using a tiny slide-sized viewer that has to have the slides hand-fed into it or using a scan slide app that makes me wish I had two more arms with hands attached to them. Makes my eyes cross. The pictures aren’t great. This photo of my family when I was 3 (I’m so cute...) is still blurry. So, I was thinking on my friend AFTER major frustration with the slides & thoughts of her stilled me enough inside & inspiration came. A soft nudge... Ask her if she has a slide projector. I didn’t even think twice but shot off a text that very moment. The reply: YES!! My life is saved!! I can view my family, my son who died...my daddy & sweet precious moments of the past. Then I’m transferring them to discs. It is a monumental task but having that projector will enable me to see & to sort! Then I can scan them to a card to put onto my computer & then into a disc! Oh happy day! The #sillouette that you see is of an old #slideprojector I found in a closet this week. I filled the "interior" of the projectors form with a portion and a fragment of my location. This changes the objects function, meaning and context. It displaces it and also breathes new potential of interpretation by you. Yes, you. You have some decisions to make here. Found this fully functional Argus Slide Projector at the flea market today and TONS of photo slides from a guy that was in the Airforce, stationed in San Francisco, Japan, and the Philippines. Lots of beautiful photographs, this is definitely a historical record of postwar Japan and Southeast Asia. There are a bunch of empty slides so I can mount some of my own photos too!! ideen voor de herkansing

-> hoe ga ik het aanpakken met de ruimtebeperking? ik had nu graag een kaars willen laten branden maar dat kan niet zomaar in een tentoonstelling. ook was het een kleine ruimte, ik wil nu meer een ruimtelijke ervaring creëren.

-> waarom dacht het publiek dat ik archiefbeeld had gebruikt? omdat het zwart-wit beeld is? Sarah Carlier zei wel dat het zwart-wit goed werkte omdat het iets wetenschappelijks heeft.

-> zorgen dat de muziek al aanstaat wanneer je de ruimte binnenkomt

1. caroussel slide projector direct inzetten (feedback Sarah Carlier) dan zit het verstrijken van de tijd al in de projector. heb nu alleen het geluid ingezet. Hoe zou ik dat zelf willen doen? dan werk ik met foto’s ipv film maar sommige beelden lenen zich daar wel voor omdat er weinig beweging in zit. ik kan het ook combineren met een projectie. het lijkt me mooi als ik iets aan de projector kan veranderen waardoor het stukken overslaat en een eigen ritme krijgt. kan ik het ritme/geluid aanpassen?

kan ik de kleinste klokonderdelen in de slideprojector plaatsen zodat alleen een schaduw wordt geprojecteerd?

kan ik een klokonderdeel maken bovenop de projector? die dan meedraait

2. kaars uit de film halen en toch inzetten om een real time ervaring te creeren. met speakers onder de schaal en de spijkers op verschillende hoogtes zodat je een concert krijgt

3. Muybridge achtige scenes in de gymzaal/sportzaal. landing/balans/ritme/afzetten/snelheid (kan ook met archiefbeelden sportzaal?) kan ik sommige lijnen weghalen en af en toe terugplakken in een film. met close-up van een landing? de lijnen geven een richting aan. = tijd ruimte. hoe zou een foley artist het geluid van bijv een landing nog meer kunnen overdrijven?

Muybridges motion studies hebben natuurlijk veel te maken met tijd en verbinding met fotografie. wat ik heb gemaakt zou allemaal een motion studie genoemd kunnen worden. ik zie dit minder voor me als sequentie maar meer als stopmotion

met de timekeeper wordt ook iemand benoemd die bij sport de tijd bijhoud en noteert

beat maken natuurlijk geluid als compilatie in gymzaal. bijv voet die tapt steeds terug laten komen. of het neerkomen bij het ringenzwaaien. camera staat op een vast punt. momentum, iets dat zich herhaalt

Het is afgeleid van movere 'verplaatsen', 'bewegen'. Andere Latijnse betekenissen van momentum zijn 'verloop', 'tijdperk', 'moment', 'gewicht'

4. projectie op bak met wit zand of slijpsel of op gordijnen

5. tekst veranderen en persoonlijker maken. ook vragen stellen aan de kijker waardoor hun rol duidelijker wordt. zoals een vraag: what are you observing? nu wel een voice-acteur gebruiken die beter speelt met ritme en emotie in de stem.
